"This pop-up first appeared around fall 2020, starting with some pickup opportunities in southeastern Massachusetts. In recent months, Neighborhood Donut Society has been popping up closer to — and within — Boston, appearing at places like Colleen’s in Medford and Tokava in Jamaica Plain." - Rachel Leah Blumenthal

I typically grab breakfast from this establishment when I take the train in and the service is on average good, sometimes not great depending on who is taking the orders at the window. Today while ordering my food, my partner had a complaint about one of the women working there(blonde woman, usually in a bad mood). He had a run in with her, a few days ago where she had thrown his food in his direction when he was waiting for his order the last time he went here. Today he wanted to express to her he did not appreciate her doing that. In the midst of saying this she did not handle the situation professionally. She was combative, asking him what he wanted her to do, sorry if he thought that happened and continued to ask him what he wanted her to do. He said I just want you to acknowledge what was done and that it was not okay. Once he told her this, she waited until he walked away to condescendingly say, you told me this last time, what are you going to do tell me it again next time you come? To which I stepped in to remind her that she’s at work, her tone is unnecessary and that the way she is handling the situation was not okay. She acknowledged she had an attitude today and continued to stick to what she said. She was informed by me that we all work, we get handling different people, but the way she handled this situation was not professional nor okay. When my partner walked away she seemed to be antagonizing the situation which was why I stepped in to say something. I again reminded her she’s at work and the attitude and way she handled the situation wasn’t cohesive to someone being clocked in for work. I have come to this place for years to grab breakfast and this will be my last time giving this business my money. I have not witnessed such a nasty interaction at this place before and I don’t plan on it. She needs to be talked to ASAP because this business will continue to loss business if she continues this way. Also she was sweeping the floor and touched my bag of food to show how she handed my partner her bag(very unsanitary).

I like Mike's! Why? Top notch Customer Service, fresh pastries, sandwiches, bagels, croissants. Convenience and quick, responsive service. I stop here any time I have a few minutes traveling through Forest Hills Station. I like their Steak Bagel, hot or cold Apple Cider, numerous donuts and pastries. The croissants are very tasty. It's always fresh and tempting. Get there early.

I lived right by forest hills station for a couple of years and this place has always been good to me. While I was never able to verbally have long conversations with the ladies who worked there because I don’t speak their language, I have still been absolutely delighted by their friendliness. Sometimes verbal communication isn’t necessary for amazing customer service! In addition the donuts are some of the best donuts I’ve had in Boston and the have great coffee, especially the iced coffee. The breakfast sandwiches are decent and while it can get busy in typical rush hours, it’s a great way to start the day!

I used to come here every morning when I worked at the State Lab across the street. On July 4, I stopped here after getting off the subway, They must not have liked the way I looked or something because they chose to act like I wasn't there after I had been waiting in line almost a minute and took the order of someone who had just walked up behind me. Must be under new management. The coffee used to be good but for slices and sandwiches, I've always recommended Forest Hills Pizza right across the street.

Used to buy coffee from here because the taste was good. Until I saw an employee with her mask down, openly rubbing her mouth and face with her bare hands. That is disgusting. Considering they never wear gloves and she was going to touch my coffee lid with dirty hands.

My breakfast sandwich was terrible,. Croissant was hard, hash brown barely cooked, I had one the other day wasn’t like this. This was about an hour ago 👎🏽

Buyer Beware: you have a hankering for donuts but prices aren't clearly posted anywhere. You might expect that you could check the website listed for the Tremont St location but I can tell you, it's not accurate. As of November 2020 at least, donuts are $7.50 for a half dozen, $12.99 for a dozen. The ladies are nice enough but they expect you to know what you want in this regard, so now you know! The donuts themselves are as good or as bad as anywhere. Come to support a local business or because it's the most convenient option at Forest Hills Station.

The ladies serving coffee and donuts are awesome! Always welcome me with smile. Today I loved lemon donut and coffee for my walk in nearby Arnold Arboretum. 👍👍
