"It will never have the vibes that its much more famous North End sibling has, but the cannoli are just as good. And that’s really all that matters." - Terrence Doyle

Rating Reflection: 🌟🌟🌟🌟Walking into Mike’s Pastry was a delightful surprise. Renowned for their sweet treats, this chain cafe managed to exceed my expectations with their baked goods. Industrial Chic Decor: 🖼️🛠️The Assembly Row location sports a unique “industrial” vibe, characterized by exposed pipes and an urban aesthetic. The cool wall paintings add a splash of artistic flair to the space, creating a dynamic and modern atmosphere. Service Standard: 🙋‍♂️Service at Mike’s Pastry is efficient and straightforward. The behind-the-counter approach ensures quick service, allowing the delectable pastries to take center stage. Culinary Delight: 🧁The food, particularly the vanilla cupcake, was the highlight of the visit. Its full, cakey bottom paired with thick, rich frosting provided a satisfying texture and taste. Unlike airier alternatives, this cupcake delivered a substantial and indulgent experience. In Retrospect: 🤔Mike’s Pastry - Assembly Row marries an industrial-chic ambiance with the comforting allure of classic baked goods. It’s a destination where every bite is a testament to traditional baking excellence. Final Verdict: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ - “Good”“Mike’s Pastry: Where Industrial Charm Meets Sweet Perfection.” For those in search of a dessert experience that combines a modern setting with time-honored pastry perfection, Mike’s Pastry at Assembly Row is a must-visit. It’s not just a treat; it’s a tradition wrapped in contemporary coziness. 🏭🧁✨

The cannoli is getting smaller & the price went up again. $7 / one now. But there are good. The shells are crunchy and the filling just done sweet enough but not too sweet.

Google
if you woke up in the morning and would like to be treated like an ANIMAL, go to Mike’s the staff will make your dreams come true. The food is not that good

I grew up in a family that owned an Italian bakery - I can say with experience that the pastry I got from Mikes was sub-par. The tiramisu tastes like it’s made with cream cheese not mascarpone. The ricotta pie was crumby and dry…I had to spit it out. The carrot cake was so overly sweet with thick frosting. The rum cake was ok but a little too wet at the bottom. I was expecting the lobster tail to be filled with yellow pastry cream not fake-whipped cream. The cannoli was good and crunchy.

We stopped in after dinner down the street. The cannoli is great. I had the lemon and the plain. The shells are light and crispy, and the filling is perfect. We also had a raspberry tart and a coconut lemon tart. Those were good, but not nearly as awesome as the cannoli. I have to take away a star because of the bathrooms. They were disgusting. No TP and no hand towels. My wife asked for a roll of TP and the girl was rude. I want to take away another star because of the nasty bathroom and even nastier girl, but the cannoli is so good they still get four stars. It makes up for the bad, they really are that good. When we are back in Boston, we will definitely come back.

Today was my first time going to this location and no surprise everything was delicious! My favorite are the macaroons they are everything! I mean my mother isn't crazy about macaroons but she'll eat them from Mike's. Everything was good though, the champagne cookies, m&m. I even purchased tiramisu, a cupcake and moon pie but everyone ate them before I could take pics lol but trust they looked and were equally delicious. Don't hesitate and go! Oh and everyone there is pleasant and patient another great plus. I will be back! Thanks guys! -Amanda **The 2 stars is to reflect the recent experience as of January 2024.**

Google
The authentic Mike’s cannoli experience in the accessible Assembly Row! Same flavors and pastry options. Try their original cannolis or pistachio or walnut. I found all 3 of those pretty good. The staff is nice and welcoming and they help you choose. No rush, no pressure! Also, look to try their cakes. Pretty good as well

Google
I saw people queuing at other outlets in the city and decided not to go inside but this one was fairly less crowded and seemed I could secure a spot after shopping for a while so I went in and was greeted pleasantly by the staff, they recommended their cannolis which were huge but I ended up getting a tiramisu which didn’t disappoint at all. I would definitely recommend to try their cannolis as well. Top quality, great service Price was somewhere around $6 for a good American portion which I actually had to takeaway because I was so full.

Yelp
I've always loved Mikes and was pretty happy to find this location. There's always parking which is great. There's a garage next to it but it's free for a short time, we've never been there long enough to have to pay. Haven't tried many other things than cannoli since they're my favorite place that make them.

Roland S.

Yelp
Always wondered what a cannoli was supposed to taste like. This was crispy on the outside and smooth and creamy on the inside. Very tasty. Had the peanut butter. It was a winner. The place is huge with so many options to choose from. Very clean place. Great service. They even box and tie it up for you. A+ Mike's.

Sydney F.

Yelp
Staff wasn't very friendly, but the cannolis made up for it! The cannolis are huge and have great flavor. I got the espresso and the Oreo and they were both great. I will come back every time I'm in Boston and will recommend to everyone!

Alice D.

Yelp
Came here for a quick takeout order after dinner for some dessert. There was a small line, but the folks working were efficient at trying to get through it as quickly as possible. The interior was nothing special, but it felt clean. It definitely felt more like a grab and go spot rather than enjoying your pastry of choice inside. The price was a bit expensive, but you're paying for the name as Mike's is pretty well known. The quality of dessert didn't feel too different from the North End location. I enjoyed the cannoli and the tiramisu was tasty as well. If I'm ever craving a cannoli again I'll be sure to stop by this Assembly location in the future!

Haylee M.

Yelp
Tried the branch at North End and and had to get more cannolis before leaving Boston. They have some different flavors here compared to the other branch but tasty Just the same! Hazelnut Cannoli was my favorite! Really lovely creamy filling on the inside which had Just the night sweetness and went really well with the shell as well. Oreo Cannoli was delicious as well. Filling had that Oreo flavor and actual Oreo crumbs on the outside too. Not as good as the hazelnut though. Blueberry Scone was okay. I expected it to be really good, but the blueberries were all just on one side. Rest of the scone was plain. Turtle Cup was rich! Chocolate covering was nice on its own, and caramel flavor good too. Just too much caramel.

Yelp
I can only speak to the takeout experience at Mike's in Assembly Row, since we picked some cannolis up after doing some shopping in the area. I've been to other Mike's locations before and this one was very similar food-wise, so we decided to try some cannolis flavors we haven't had before. We ordered the amaretto and chocolate cream cannolis (which were about $7 each!!). Despite sitting in the container for a couple hours before they were eaten, the cannolis weren't soggy at all and kept their shape well. The amaretto one was unique and came coated in almonds with a chocolate drizzle on the shell. The chocolate cream one was a big let down, and just tasted like chocolate pudding filling to me. It was neither creamy nor cheesy, how I prefer my cannolis to be. Although they have some unique and interesting flavors here at Mike's, I'd just stick to the basics if you want a tasty cannoli experience!

Mei T.

Yelp
Excellent pastries!!! Had a delicious time trying the hazelnut, Nutella, original Cannolis!!! We also tried the tiramisu pastry and it was amazing. Rich and creamy and flavorful ! Didn't get to try the cheesecake slices but worth a trip for more!!! Friendly and informative staff who make good recommendations!

Savannah H.

Yelp
So great!! A superb addition to assembly row. The cannolis are amazing obviously but any of the pastries are sure to make your day. Big upside to the original Mike's (tho I've only been there a few times because honestly there's better in the north end, as opposed to this one!!) is this location takes card and Apple pay. Last time I was in the OG was cash only. This is huge for me!! And right by all my favorite shops spas and work! The lady who gave me my pastry was in a contagiously good mood.

Kassidi D.

Yelp
Cannolis are hands down the key to my heart always! And mikes espresso cannolis are just my favorite. Assembly row is my favorite location to go. Parking is super easy and you get in and out. The store is super bright and in a great location with tons of other food spots near by to try too! Perfect for date night or a family night out.

Angelina Z.

Yelp
Stopped by for an afternoon snack for a tiramisu. The pastry was massive and definitely a good bang for your buck. It wasn't too sweet, but it was a bit heavy--perhaps better split among two. The tiramisu was very soft, and the ladyfingers were completely soaked in coffee. So yummy! Note: this place accepts card! I believe the Mike's Pastry in North End only accepts cash.

Mariya K.

Yelp
amazing and fresh !!!! this was on my Boston list . the Boston cream pie was like no other ! quick and friendly service ! will be back when I return to boston !

Kelly F.

Yelp
Came for basically breakfast when I was staying at the La Quinta nearby and saw that mikes was open at 8am! I had only ever been to the north end location and was amazed at how modern the place was, the ambiance was very different from the Hanover st location, it was much colder and didn't feel as welcoming (though it was not crowded!). They did not have my beloved lobster tails, which is why I made the trek over in 95% humidity! I got a classic cannoli, it was very good but it's $6 now. I won't go back if I'm in assembly square again- I'd definitely like to try some new Boston favorites.

Flor P.

Yelp
Came to the house of the cannoli and it was okay but nothing out of this world. The filling is good but a bit bland and the crust could be crunchier. I had the hazelnut, pistachio and original, Nono stood out to me. I also tried the fudge brownie and it was a bit too sweet for me. Service was fast and rushed, which made the whole experience a bit tense. Definitely a tourist place but worth trying if you're in the area.

Rich S.

Yelp
Suggested by a bandmate who is from Boston. Lobster Tail was good, but outer crust was hard. I'd prefer soft. PLENTY of creme inside! Hazelnut cannoli was INCREDIBLE! That is all. I should've got 2 of 'em!! Boston Creme Pie: it had the consistency of a fine luxurious cake, and the chocolate was superb! It was the best I've ever had, but honestly, i haven't had that many BCPs. Oatmeal creme pie, plenty of those, though. My order was delivered via doordash. (Time constraints) This may also have contributed to the hardened lobster tail crust. Plan to eat here, possibly next weekend! I actually ate the lobster tail for lunch. By itself. I'm a kid.

Kelly N.

Yelp
Great location. All the sweets were super sweet. Not the best boston cream pie, although I had pretty high expectations after reading the reviews. The cannoli though , def try any of the cannolis!

Shirin B.

Yelp
There's a few locations for Mike's Pastry and so glad we were able to stumble onto this one while attempting to get Celtics gear for a friend! Boston cream pie - for chocolate frosting lovers and overall cream cake lovers, this is a classic choice. It was a little on the sweet side for me, but still very good! The original cannoli - wowza, amazing and the perfect sweetness. Loved it!

Ann O.

Yelp
Wish they took credit cards but always love this place. Usually I hate cannolis but it's because they aren't from Mike's - these are amazing. Try the lemon! Lines are long but move quickly and service is fast.

Ashley D.

Yelp
Sunday 2/25- Lady serving us was very unfriendly and would not make chocolate dipped cannolis as she didn't feel like making melted chocolate. Told another employee to not serve any chocolate dipped as they didn't want to clean the machine.

Tim Y.

Yelp
So sad . Looked sooo good BUT the flavour so eh... pasteries had chochalate garnish was tasetless as was the cream filling. The fudge cake more resembled a birthday cake icing vs fudgie. Another franchise killing what was once the best.. Please dont take this path mordern pastery

Mundeep B.

Yelp
July 3rd around 8:30pm. Visiting Boston, saw long lines at the Mike's in North End and had high hopes when we saw this none near our hotel. Lobster tails were so stale it was like munching on glass. 9 bucks down, lesson learned.

Fiona Z.

Yelp
Made this my first tourist food stop in Boston and I wasn't disappointed. Later I saw the lines at their downtown location, but Mike's Pastry at Assembly Row had no line. I gladly paid $7 for their lobster tail, which is a gigantic cream puff/eclair shaped like--you guessed it--a lobster tail. It was about the size of both my hands put together. The amount of cream was overwhelming; it was great. I ended up saving half for later in the day and it tasted just fine. Only gripe would be the less-than-enthusiastic service.

Alice C.

Yelp
Cleaner than the original store in the historic district. Staff all speaks Russian somehow. Got two cannolis pistachio and Nutella. They are both very good. The shell was crunchy even after a couple hours and the cream help up pretty nicely. I like this more than the Boston cream pie. Please don't get the cream pies. They are overrated.

Gaurav P.

Yelp
You see this store as soon as you get down from the Somerville train station. Rum Cake and Cannoli are my favourites. Bonus points because this is located in Assembly row.

Melanie W.

Yelp
First time in this location, cleaner and no wait compared to the location in the North End. I brought 2 pistachio and 2 hazelnut cannolis. It is so good even is $5 each. Too bad they don't have lobster tail and cream puffs. Definitely will come back again if I am around the area.

Husain V.

Yelp
I live in assembly so I love the fact that I can just walk here for a Canoli. Do yourself a favor and just order the Florentine Canoli and that's it. That's all you need and just foget abou it.

Sumi J.

Yelp
We stayed in a nearby hotel and wanted a snack. Mike's was the first place to pop up. We were not disappointed! Thankfully it wasn't busy as we found metered parking right in front Mike's. I'm sure you could park by Trader Joe's and walk. The gentleman greeted us at the door and told us to take our time and let him know when we're ready. My sister and I got a chocolate chip cannoli ($4.50) to split. It was huge! Maybe the size of an iPhone XS, if not bigger. We also got the rainbow champagne cookies, chocolate dipped cookie, and coconut chocolate cookie. Everything was great. I did a little research afterwards and did not know that this is a pretty popular chain. We'll definitely be back!

Megana V.

Yelp
Mikes Pastry is a must try Boston classic! Personally I don't find cannolis all that exciting but Mike's does an amazing job with them! Despite being fried, the shell is not oily at all. The filling is rich and creamy, and pretty sweet. I liked the pistachio flavor because they just roasted the nuts so it balanced out the sweetness of the filling. Definitely check out Mike's! The Lobster tails are also great, and very big!!

Victoria T.

Yelp
There is little to no line at this Mike's Pastry, unlike the one in the North End. I got the red velvet cupcake, and the cream puff. The red velvet frosting to cupcake ratio was pretty even, it was a lot of frosting. It was a big cupcake, and it was also really really sweet, sweeter than I prefer. But it was good, I liked it. The cream puff was good as well, and pretty big too.

John M.

Yelp
Yum. Beware tourist trap, bring cash, expect lines. Better than a couple Italian places I've been near by

Stacey H.

Yelp
Just as good as the one in the North End, minus the "original location" feel. They have the perk of accepting card versus cash only, with more space and less wait. Can't help but love Mikes! PS. Can you guys please sell T shirts? :) Order: - regular cannoli - rainbow cookies - ricotta pie - Boston cream puff

Tracey H.

Yelp
I was excited walking in but left quite disturbed. I ordered an Almond Biscotti. The lady who helped me was very careless getting the biscuit. She used the little bakery sheet, but her bare hand touched the biscuit and because it was poorly wrapped the biscuit when placed on the counter, had direct contact with the counter. Cleanliness is a must. Also, my purchase order was $5 and the guy told me my total was $6.40. When I questioned him about the taxes and he changed my total to $5.35. I overheard the staff quote totals to a couple other patrons that didn't align with correct tax amounts. Disappointed.

Anna F.

Yelp
Very open space! Even on a crowded day at assembly it's not too hectic here- which is a nice change to the ambiance in the north end. Lots of the same pastries, same cool hanging balls of string to seal the boxes. It's a family affair- seems like cousins and moms/grandmas. I like that vibe. They're super friendly. I got a lobster tail and an americano. Nice strong European coffee! Second trip I got a caramel pecan cannoli and espresso. The cannoli had a fresh crispy shell. The flavor combo of caramel and pecan was classic and delicious. Would like to try the other flavors of cannoli (like amaretto) and the ricotta cheesecake in the future.

Diane K.

Yelp
With all the hype we were so glad we drove to Assembly Square to get some shopping done and stop by this famous cannoli chain without having to wait in line. This location at Assembly Square feels new and clean and it seemed like the area was still being developed with new residential buildings. My fiance and I aren't Bostonians but we stayed at the heart of the city for a weekend. We were able to drive to Mike's in 15-20 minutes on a Friday morning. For our first time, we chose two distinct but classy flavors of cannolis - Hazelnut and Florentine. First bite into the hazelnut cannoli we fell in love with the crispy dough, even though it was pre-filled. The filling was just delicious. Florentine was a bit harder to work into because of its caramelized dough but the flavor was still great. The two cannolis with a cup of iced coffee kept us filled for the whole morning and until early afternoon. Just to compare, we had a showdown of cannolis from Modern Pastry Shop and Bova's Bakery. Mike's Pastry was truly the home of the cannolis. We will be back when we are in Boston.

Bruce K.

Yelp
Same Canoli's from the same people and at a new location. Mike's at Assembly Row has a good sized selection of canolis and other pastries but doesn't have nearly the crowds and the craziness as they do at the North End location. I got a butter pecan canoli this time. It was extremely sweet. Nicely assembled good filling and the ends dipped in crushed pecans. Yum!

Caroline W.

Yelp
Best cannolis ever!! There was no wait time like the one in the North End which is great. My only concern was the possible freshness as it isn't crazy busy but it was crisp on the outside and filling was amazing! Not a fan of the scone as it wasn't scone texture but everything else I've ever had there is fantastic!!

Anna X.

Yelp
This was my first time trying Mike's Pastry!! I think the lines at the North End location always made me not want to go... which is a good reason because those lines stretch on for miles!! I happened to be in the Assembly area and was craving cannolis. This particular location didn't have a line, phew! It was a weekday around 6:30 PM. The selection of sweets here aren't as big as the location in the North End, but it was still varied! We got the chocolate mousse cannoli, ricotta cannoli, and expresso cannoli. The worker packaged it in their signature rope-tied box expertly and quickly. Our total came out to be $15.50 for four cannolis. The ricotta cannoli was very big in portion!! I didn't really like how chunky the ricotta filling was- I would've preferred it to be smoother, but it was still pretty tasty! They didn't skimp on filling for this one- there was plenty! The chocolate mousse cannoli was my favorite out of the two, though the filling here was skimpy. It consisted of chocolate mousse sandwiched between ricotta filling. The finishing touches? Lots of chocolate chips sprinkled on both ends of the shell and a chocolate drizzle! Yum! There were so many textures happening at once and it made for a unique combination + experience. The shell wasn't as good as the ones we've had at Bova's Bakery in the North End, though. I'm glad I had a chance to experience Mike's Pastry! :- )

Annilyn T.

Yelp
Was so happy and surprised to see this bakery at this location. I never thought it's here too. I guess I don't go to assembly row that much. But it was a good thing. I've always wanted to try this bakery out but the one at the north end is always packed and the lines are ridiculous so I never went in there. When I saw this. I immediately told my bf to stop the car cause I wanna go inside and check it out. I got some espresso cannoli and pistachio too. And also the Black Forest cake which are all good! It was perfect, not too sweet but really tasty and light!! Now that I know there's this one in here I'll stop by whenever I can after school. Hopefully they don't close that early

Armand O.

Yelp
Their vanilla cupcake and m&m cookies taste horrible. Disgusting No Taste. Also, their m&m cookie is hard like a rock!!

Stephen Z.

Yelp
A MUST DO! FANTASTIC CANNOLIS & ITALIAN PASTRIES THAT ARE DELICIOUSSSSSSSS!!!! If you want to avoid the Wall to Wall people in The North End Boston then come here. This location is located in Assembly in Somerville right across from the train station. It's smaller than the Boston location & more relaxed. They have most of the popular pastries here that are in the Boston store. They have BIGGGGG CANNOLIS! They're Rum Squares are Great too! They also have Cappuccino & different kinds of Italian coffee! You can get them to go or sit down @ the tables & have your pastries. You have to fight to get a table in the Boston location. LOL! It used to be, you had to have mega bucks & be really rich to have the Good Life, not anymore. The Game has changed. You've been Upgraded. Now You Can Live Like a King on a Limited Budget!

Saretta E.

Yelp
I live in Assembly row and the last couple of visits I received stale cupcakes and black/white cookies - to the point I was unable to eat them because they tasted so dry and stale. After the third time of receiving stale desserts, I stopped going to Mike's. They charge $4-5 for a dessert (more expensive than Georgetown Cupcakes) yet they will give you stale desserts that are not freshly baked. Beware!

Steven W.

Yelp
Literally so close to Encore Boston Harbor, I would say 5 mins driving. Right next to the MBTA. We did not wait too long, we ordered a few of their cannolis, tiramisu and blueberry muffin. Everything looked well stocked and service was super friendly. I found the blueberry muffin to be really tasty with a good amount of blueberry chunks. I have had better tiramisu before, it just lacked flavor for me. Cannolis was not too bad, good filling and crunch for the outer layer. Nothing was too sweet.

John T.

Yelp
Too much frosting, not enough cake! Overpowering sweetness. Too much, half the frosting would have been enough.

Taylor F.

Yelp
Cheap delicious desserts that you cannot pass up. They offer a large variety of Italian cookies, cannolis of various flavors, cupcakes, cakes, lobster tails (large eclair sort of thing), cheesecake... if I lived near one of these I would be fat

Alan R.

Yelp
The best there is! Love the oreo canolli, service is always quick and efficient, will absolutely be coming back

Jess B.

Yelp
I don't know how I've missed this in all of our trips to Assembly! I love this location. It's comparably less hectic and busy. We have been a number of times and the quality is on point. The cannolis are fantastic and the cookies-by-the-pound are a perfect take-away treat. So glad there's another location!

Gabriel M.

Yelp
So I'm from Seattle and this is my first Cannoli and I was sent to see Mike. You know he is the home of the Cannoli I'm told by his coffee cup. First off they have many colors and flavors to choose from and other goodies for you to enjoy. I first asked about Mikes coffee because if I get one more (I've only had one) cup of water with cream from Dunking Donuts I will die. So mikes coffee is rich and great flavor, as for the Cannoli I picked it was espresso. I'm not a sweets guy but had to order it since I'm here. I thought the inside was whipped cream it's not it's a heavy cream and folks these are NOT finger food you need a fork it's a job to eat. It's not too sweet and Mike has done a great job. I think for me it's not something I would eat at 8am again but after dinner.

Elaine C.

Yelp
You can never go wrong with Mike's pastry. It's really well known in Boston and I'm glad they finally opened another location here in assembly. I decided to get some dessert after a long day of shopping and this was the best decision. I've had their cannolis at their other locations, but I'm not a huge fan of them so I opted for their chocolate cake. As soon as I walked in, I had my eyes on it. They have a huge selection to choose from which is always a plus. The chocolate cake was a lot of chocolate hence the name but this could easily be a three person dessert. I shared it with my boyfriend and we both couldn't even finish and we LOVE desserts. I love the fact that this location has tables to sit down at while you can eat and catch up with friends unlike the other location in north end.

Corina Q.

Yelp
The first time I tried Mike's was.. two days ago lol and now I'm back! Not because of the amazing food, but because there are so many more stores than I thought there were scattered around Boston. I decided to try the Boston Cream Pie (I know, super touristy of me), and I was not a fan. The cake was very mediocre, the cream filling was too sweet, and the chocolate frosting on the top tasted a little powdery and not of the best quality. I really wanted to love Mike's, especially after reading so many great things about it coming to Boston, but maybe this store just isn't for me.

Lucinda A.

Yelp
I love Mike's pastry, this place is my guily pleasure. Customer service is always great when I go. My go to cannoli is the strawberry but there oreo cheesecake is my ultimate favorite. If you're in the Somervillle area be sure to check them out.

Jay B.

Yelp
The cheesecake is fantastic! It sits on yellow cake instead of graham crackers and that makes it unique. I have never had cheesecake like that before and it was great. I have been here multiple times and stop in every time I visit Boston. On my last visit, the cheesecake had no yellow cake bottom. Not sure what changed but the cheesecake was not the same. I was really hope that was a fluke and they get back to making it how I had it the first few times I visited. Happy Hunting Yelpers!!!
