Mike's Pizzeria Lounge

We had a really nice time here for the first time at Mike's. I chose this because it's a "Staple" of Fresno and known for their brick oven pizza 🍕 I took my Mom & 3 kids. You can see them preparing the pizza when you first enter. They asked me dine in or take out? We dined in and I was surprised there was a bar across from where you dine. I was a little uneasy because I had my kids. Fortunately it was a wonderful experience. Everyone was just super friendly and laughing. We had to use the restroom 🚻 which was divided "Women" & "Men" The restroom was very clean and smelled clean. The women's restroom does not have a changing table... but why should they if it's mostly a bar atmosphere 🤔. It was dark. Then they changed the lights to even darker. Someone joked about making it romantic. Lol. I personally like to see my food.. but I didn't mind either. We ordered a Large pizza, half Mike's special half Salami. 4 of us had water 1 had a soda and it turned out to be $30 and some change. I left a 33% tip cause Faith was Awesome and so sweet and kind and friendly with a nice smile. 😊 the pizza seemed a little small for a large. They said 14" but I don't walk around with a measuring tape sooooo I put my hand in the picture so you guys can see. It was just enough for us 5. Luckily the complimentary French bread and butter filled me up too. I can see why this is Fresno fave! Awesome job to this family owned business 👏🏼 I wish you many years of family tradition

Visited Mike's Pizzeria after hearing rave reviews from people at our golf club. They were right! Pizza is amazing! Pricing is affordable, wine is fine, and well priced! We will be back for sure!

Food was so delicious! Even the leftovers were yummy. The customer service was really good, I just think we went when there was a small rush & only one waitress so that was a bit frustrating. Once we received our food though we were happy. The atmosphere and music was so nice. Definitely will be returning.

I had the most delicious pizza. The delicious chefs salad with salami and pepercinis was superb. Our beautiful server Alyssa was so friendly and attentive. She recommended the most delicious pizza I’ve ever had their signature Hot Mustard pizza. My whole family loved it. An unusual but AMAZING combo. Will stop by whenever I’m in the area just for that pizza.

Food was great, our waitress was attentive, and the vibe of the very small lounge area was laid back and welcoming. However, the food took a long time to come out. After ordering, our food came out in bunches and 2 members of my party (there was 7 of us) did not get their food for almost an hour after ordering. They ordered pasta. We were made aware of some issues in the kitchen, I can only assume one person was back there. The lounge had several people there, but most were at the bar drinking and chatting. Can't ignore the long delays in getting our food

This is a staple Italian restaurant in Fresno,Ca. This is what you think of when you say old school dining. The owner is on the floor meeting and greeting the customers. The old school dining room sets the mood for a great dining experience. I ordered the Nonas special calizoni, and this was spot on with the best tasting red sauce. We also ordered the Chicken Alfredo , this was the best I have ever tasted. I will definitely visit time and time again so I can try the many options on the menu. Do yourself favor and try this great Italian restaurant.

GROSS! Today I decided to try the large meat lovers pizza. It was way too salty and it had Canadian bacon that was like shoe leather. I guess he dumped a bunch of salt to hide how bad the toppings were. Either way that was $30 wasted. Richie's in the Tower district is way better than that garbage pizza.

Today I went before noon to place a pretty large order for my pregnant granddaughters and let me say Mike's didn't disappoint.. I ordered 6 meatballs Cesar salad rigatoni and spaghetti and cheese sticks..omg .they kicked butt today..thank you for making my granddaughters so happy..

Mikes food is always good with huge portions , you can go in for happy hour and get a few apps and be full off that alone . Staff are incredibly nice , and the regulars are always cool to stoke a convo with .

Definitely recommend Mike's pizzeria. Good atmosphere, great food and service was on point and beer is ice cold.

Ok I'm way too late to the game on this, been on my must get to's for too many decades. The tradition of it speaks for itself and lived up to the expectations and then some. Service is great, food is out of this world, and atmosphere is old world feel. Had a group of 7 and everyone's meals were to perfection. I went with the chicken Cordon Blue and no comparison to anywhere that would come close to this. The hidden surprise was the bed of pasta that was underneath which was sauced with the cream sauce and mushrooms and ham mixed in which was a stand alone dish on its own. I can't wait to be back.

My family has been coming here since I was little. A fresno staple. I come for the calzones. The best you will ever have. I get the beef and cheese. They are amazing. The bar lounge area is a decent size but they are always a packed house. This time I tried the loaded fries. They were ok. A little too much sauce made the fries soggy on the bottom. Service was great. Our waitress name was Faith. She was amazing.

Great food and good catering options!! The food is 10/10. I had it at home when I had a graduation party as well as an early Christmas dinner.

Had dinner here recently with a friend I used to work with. They weren't busy the weeknight evening when I arrived. I was surprised to see the dining room closed when I walked in. Seating was in the bar only. I ordered a special calzone and it was as good as I always remember it being. Service was friendly.

Grubhub delivered my pepperoni pizza to the wrong apt but Mike's Pizzeria kindly made me another and I just received it! Super grateful for this type of service

A friend at work recommended this place, Nona Special calzoni is tasty and delicious. Pizza bread was so good we finished one side of it before snapping a photo. The 14' Pepperoni/Jalapeño pizza was delicious and tasty, finished it in one sitting.

Locals only. Be careful. I think they still fry the calzone like Tony's pizza. Beer is sold there.

Excellent they made it the way I wanted it without bell peppers. I would definitely do business with Mike again it's a family business and it's right down the street

I can't comment on the food. My husband and I wanted to try a new pizza place, went there today and zero service. We sat for over ten minutes without anyone acknowledging us and we left. Staff seemed to be more interested in talking amongst themselves.

Called and said "they don't think they can do it on a pick up order" should specify on the menu. Crazy! Girl put me on hold then a guy pops on the phone and said they couldn't like I was trying to get over. I was about order a dinner special and a bunch of other items for a party of ten. It's cool, I will take my money elsewhere!

Honestly just go to Dominos or Pizza Hut instead. I'm serious. Canola Oil for the pizza?

very comfy and clean but the food was terrible. ordered a calzone and a pizza. both were so bad it would take a paragraph to fully explain. I'm from San Francisco and my wife is from Toronto Canada. Both are big Italian restaurant havens. We know good Italian. Sorry Peter.

Excellent food!! Excellent service!! We make it a point to eat here whenever we can when we visit Fresno CA!! Their homemade lasagna is so delicious. Their create your own calzones are amazing and something everyone should eat there!!

Avoid this place at all costs if you are a person of color. They're racist. My hispanic and islander family was told by a Caucasian lady that we couldn't dine inside the restaurant because of tipping. We must look so poor that they felt we wouldn't tip them. Do yourself a favor and stop elsewhere.

Stopped here on an 8 hour road trip for some dinner. Tried to call ahead so that our food would be ready by the time we got there and VERIFIED with the woman on the phone that we would be able to eat inside when we got there. When I arrived, we were told we could not eat inside? When asked why, they said bc it's a tipping issue. I told them I don't mind tipping and would pay extra just so I can sit down and feed my baby his dinner as we still two hours away from home. Then she stated they didn't want to "bus our table". Would rate it a 0/ 10 for service if I could. The orange haired lady with glasses was extremely rude. This restaurant is located in a dark dingy neighborhood so I didn't feel comfortable eating in the car.

Best food ever! Best prices. Best wine list and value in the valley! Don't forget about Mikes! Stop by and support this local business. Don't forget to buy their frozen ravioli for home.

Ok let me just start with, we had the best service ever. And I mean at any restaurant, ever. Chris was our server and seemed to be the only one taking the orders and bringing the food around. I was early so he let me choose and was friendly and asked if I needed anything. When my friends showed up he was on it with the drinks and taking our orders. The food was great. The Meatballs were moist, the minestrone soup was pretty good. The bread was good and plentiful. When my friend asked for toasted bread, he went above and beyond and toasted it and made it a garlic bread. I'm happy to come back and try their pizza on my cheat day!

The food here is awesome but the bartenders need training on how to pour beer. This is the second time I have had an issue with the bartender pouring a beer with massive amounts of head(beer foam) in the glass.... I would've given four stars, but since it happened twice, you lose two stars...

Hadn't been here since it was at the original location across the street! My cousins worked there many years back and they had the BEST pizza around. We ordered pizza, lasagna and calzone. All of it was delicious! I can't believe I forgot about this place but that won't happen again. Can't wait for my next meal.

Dated, dark, no windows. The restaurant looks like it's straight out of 1982. The food was good but a little on the salty side. Located in a sketchy-ish neighborhood, so not sure if I would want to return.

Great lunch. We started off with a couple of appetizers. We had the breaded calamari strips and deep fried ravioli. Both of which were great! My guest had the lasagna she said it was very good. I had the Mike's special calzone. It was delicious. Service was great. Mikes is a family owned restaurant that's been around for over 60 years. There's very good reason for that. Everything was delicious. Can't wait to go back and have some homemade pasta.

Love their calzone my girls and I always order this and the sauce is so yummy and delicious. Everything in the menu is good, you can't find another Italian restaurant better than Mike's, love the service

The lasagna was rather flavorless. Do I need to pay exter for a little garlic? I had a Scotch Rocks while I waited. When the food arrived I ordered another Scotch, the waiter asked if I wanted a fresh glass. I said no that one is fine. When the bill came I was suprised that the drinks were $10.25 each (for Johnnie Walker Black. That's a bit steep, but that's up to them to establish. My complaint is that they charged me an extra $1 because of the ice. And they charged for it twice, even though I was OK with my old glass. Ice is overhead, much like a clean glass. I will not pay for ice, it is overhead, practically free. I would rather pay an extra dollar to have garlic in the sauce. Mike's is in the service industry, and this is not service. Diner, bar patron beware. Is a Martine $1 more if you ask for an olive. No.

Six of us women came in for lunch on Friday. Several men sat in the bar area and seemed like regulars. Another group of six women had already been served and given some wine. Our waitress came right over and got our drink order-wine! We also ordered the antipasto platter. One woman in the other group called over, "You are just beautiful!" She came over and snapped a pic of our group. So friendly Then we were occupied with our appetizer, which also came with good white bread and butter. Later we ordered a medium deep fried pizza with black olives, onions and pepperoni, as one can pick the three toppings included. Still later, our waitress came back carrying another bottle of wine (SeaGlass Chardonnay ) gifted to us by the other women. Wow That was so generous. Lastly, our wonderful waitress comped us ice cream for dessert! Sweet! Lastly, as we all got up to leave, the other table too, they again took a group photo of us under the Mike's sign. As they revealed they come to the restaurant frequently on Friday, we're thinking of making it our hangout too. Lunch should always be this fun! Plus, next time I want to try their calzone.

If you like it Italian restaurant with a dark enclosed vibe I definitely suggest this place. Mike's has been around for a while and by a while I mean decades, so the food of course is going to be great and well thought out. The service is pretty good too. Especially for a place that gets pretty busy with both a bar and a restaurant under one roof.

Was greeted by a giant black cockroach upon entering. Gave this place the benefit of the doubt and decided to eat anyways. Found a long hair in my food that was very offputting along with the roach. ordered the pizza and the calzone. The food was average at best but overpriced for the service and the quality.

I just had the best lasagna I've ever had, and I'm old and eaten a lot of lasagna! I'm looking forward to trying their other dishes.

Best Italian food in Fresno. They use traditional recipes that are close to my grandmother's. Their beef and cheese calzoni is the original recipe from several long gone restaurants and is the absolute best. Good pizza and other pasta dishes. People are very friendly. The only negative is the bread they serve on the side. Pretty salty and it's too thin (too much crust). I also wish the nice part of the restaurant was open for dinner service instead of catering events. I'm really not fond of eating in the bar area. But, the great food and service are top notch.

Since my last review... still yummy food for the price! I had my private wedding party dinner here (served family style) and all my guests loved the food, service,wine and cocktails to order.... I was s happy with the food and service so I had my husband's birthday dinner here too (family style). Good food and good times .

Guess I struck something less than gold here. Far less. I'm sure the OTHER side of this place would be nicer when I assume it opens in the evening. Arrived today at 2PM. The lounge side is extremely dark and it doesn't look like a penny has been spent in there for 40 years. The booth I sat in had a failing cushion on the bottom and was uncomfortable. It was bottomed out and should have been replaced 20 years ago, probably. This area had a lot of people and so many of them were coughing. Great! Somewhere I could smell the odor of tobacco floating by my table. Perhaps somebody standing too close to a door that was opening and closing? Gross! I ordered the cannelloni which was said to be chicken and beef. What arrived was anything but that. There was no distinguishable flavor and they were just elongated--flat raviolis--nothing like the tubular structure one would expect with ample filling. Super disappointing and an insult to the culture/tradition. Where else on earth would that be called 'Cannelloni?' Nowhere! The pasta could have been cooked longer. It was quite tough. I had also ordered a side of two meatballs, which were room temperature, if. I was very surprised by that as I would not have served them, and simply said they weren't available.... The cannelloni dish came in an extremely hot bowl which I appreciated, but it was also topped with their not great quality mozzarella, which also lacked flavor... I left most of that uneaten. I also ordered a side of Alfredo, which was decent, but not spectacular. Overall everything was lackluster, not unique, flavorful. It was bad! The star of that show was actually the fresh baked bread with butter, which was quite tasty. The service was OK but the food took longer than you might expect to come out. Disappointing as the extra time had nothing to do with heating things up, apparently. I understand that folks growing up in the area remember olden times when things might have been much better here. It's an emotional connection that has to be more forgiving than my experience/reaction today. There's a few other places like that where one of my older Medicare Clients insists is fantastic but I found just the opposite. It's an emotional connection formed in better times, much earlier. A history which I lack. I would not eat here again but glad I tired it just the same. If for no other reason then to just get it off the list. -G

Mike's is a Gem. Choosing a favorite dish is hard because everything here is so Delicious but my go to meals are the Spagetti, Rigatoni, Lasagna, & the beef and cheese calzoni. The Dinizzo family had always been so warm and friendly and they have kept their food consistently Amazing! It's truly the Best Italian food in the Valley!

The food was amazing! We ordered take out and my son picked up the food for us. I loved how the pizza was all pizza and hardly any crust. The cheese raviolis and meatballs were delicious. My husband used to go here with his cousin many years ago and he recommended. Definitely did not disappoint!

I've never been here. First time. Really confusing. Entered the establishment and no one greeted us??? Weren't sure where the heck we were supposed to go. Lol. Had to find an employee who to instruct us. After 2 attempts figured out to seat ourselves. Guessing regulars know the drill. Very dark inside. We were seated in the bar area. Big booth. Every time someone opened the door I got blinded from the sun coming in. Server was a very nice young lady. Can't tell you her name. No name tag or introduction. She was as attentive as possible. They must be short staffed. I had no idea what to order. Lots of offerings that all sounded yummy. We split a pizza. We were first served bread and butter. It smelled good. I didn't eat any because I knew it would fill me up and not leave any room for pizza. This was hard to do because it took a very very long time for our pizza to arrive. We also had to flag someone down and ask for our drinks to be refilled. Found it to be overly salty. Idk if it was the cheese that was so salty or what. Crust was pretty limp for such a thin crust. Drinks were nice and strong but not pretty. Service was veryyyyy slow! I don't blame the server though. She had to take my shaker of Parmesan to another table. I wasn't done with it. Guess they are short on them. I found it odd I had to ask for it to begin with. You'd think they would just be on the tables. I wasn't finished eating my pizza . Lol. I am not sure if I'd come here again. I was hoping to find a hidden gem. Maybe the pizza is not something they specialize in. Awards hanging all over. Bummed.

Covid-19 phase: I called and ordered a large 5 meat lover pizza and chicken Philly sandwich w/ jalapeños, no Mayo or mustard and jalapeños. The worker was kind and said it would be ready in 20 minutes. I went to get it. The worker is masked and masks are required. The food was ready, the worker was very kind. I paid for it and he wished me a good day! Appreciated. Omg! The chicken Philly sandwich was Amazingly delicious! Tasty chicken, cheese and fresh jalapeños! Yummy! The 5 meat pizza was very much delicious and enjoyed by workers too! Meaty goodness! Great service service and delicious food! Highly recommended!

We ordered a large (but it was not big) pizza and it was over $35. And it was just okay. Over priced and the pizza was small. Quite disappointed. We will not be returning.

Last time I took timeout to post a review of Mike's was 3 years ago. My wife and I have and will continue patronizing this outstanding restaurant not only for the food but also due to the outstanding staff Peter DiNuzzo has employed! Everyone is like family and they treat you as such! Kudos to the entire Mike's Pizzeria business and staff! From bartenders like Aubrey, servers like Chris, to cooks like Abel! I don't mean to leave anyone out! Thank you all!

Chris was a talented server that attended to every detail whilst taking the time to answer all questions and attend to children's needs with exceptional patience. I have been coming here for all of my life , having grown up and then raised my family in the neighborhood . The food is fantastic . Unfortunately, since closing the dining room during COVID, the owners have never reopened it - all dining is in the "lounge " ( bar). It is a bar full of drunk regulars who use the f word freely and talk and laugh too loudly . Not a family place at all anymore .

CALZONE...THE absolute best! Been coming here for years... never disappointed! Too bad they don't have another location.
