Mikkelson's Market - Review - Reynoldstown - Atlanta - The Infatuation

"The roulette wheel of featured specials makes Mikkelson’s Market a solid option to utlize when your day-to-day gets boring. Finding the market isn't hard since the white brick building stands out like an old-school bodega in between rows of modern homes in Reynoldstown. Inside, shelves are stocked with pantry necessities, prepared foods, and a few international goods like octopus-flavored chips and winegum. On the bottom shelf, a record player soundtracks your shopping experience (Fleetwood Mac is on regular rotation). But as much as we love Stevie Nicks jams and Swedish candies, we're mainly here for their weekly hot food specials. It could be meats prepared on the grill out front. Sometimes it’s killer sandwiches on bread from Alon’s Bakery, like a mushroom melt dripping with smoked gouda. Other times, it's excellent fried chicken biscuits, beef stew, or a banh mi that made us want to stalk their Instagram for the next announced menu return. Food Rundown Prime Rib Melt Two slices of toasted, buttery white bread hold thinly shaved beef, carmelized onions, pickled mustard seeds, and a light layer of horseradish cream. It’s a hefty portion of beef that’s so tender you barely need to chew it. photo credit: Juli Horsford Fried Fish On Alon’s Lobster Roll The soft roll from Alon’s Bakery already makes this sandwich elite. Factor in the addition of three pieces of lightly fried halibut, pickles, lemony slaw, and a slathering of tangy remoulade, and you'll get why we're actively petitioning for this fish sandwich's menu permanency. photo credit: Juli Horsford Southern Cap Shrooms Mushroom Melt The mushrooms are tender and juicy and get tons of flavor from a hefty dollop of confit tomatoes and garlic. The melted gouda and burrata hold everything together so prepare for some nice cheese pulls after every bite. photo credit: Juli Horsford" - Juli Horsford

Google
Great local bodega with a sprawling selection of candy, including a lot of Swedish candy, and hard-to-find Asian items (snacks or ingredients). The best thing is the selection of pre-made dinners. Jen Chen is the sister restaurant and they have an amazing selection of frozen/refrigerated food: pizza, pasta, pastries, and soup. Amazing SOUPS!

When I moved to Reynoldstown over a decade ago, I fantasized about this building becoming a little neighborhood bodega with good food. This area was sketchy back then but it had so much potential. Mikkelson’s has exceeded my wildest dreams, with amazing prepared food ready to heat, weekday lunch specials, hot breakfast on Saturdays, and really refined pantry items. And thoughtfully curated beer and wine. And charcuterie. And candy. And imported snacks. I don’t know how they fit so much awesomeness in this tiny building.

Google
Awesome little neighborhood market. The prepared foods are excellent, good selection of beverages both alcoholic and otherwise, snacks from all over the globe. My favorites are the spicy peanuts (Jen Chan’s) and the scratch pop tarts.

Convenient and well stocked with essentials. The kitchen pop-ups are INCREDIBLE, weekend biscuit drops should not be missed!

Google
Great little market / breakfast ( and other foods too ) place. You can get beer, wine, and other assorted goods. An excellent asset for Reynoldstown.

Google
Great addition to the neighborhood- solid egg sausage and cheese English muffin, and bodega essentials - plus excellent pre made meals from the team at Jen Chans

I've been loving this place since they opened. Great selection of both staple and unique snacks and brands. Excellent non-alcoholic beverage selection. What really sent me over the top was their GIFT BASKETS!! I had picked out a few things to put together for a gift and I was thrilled that they had a basket for me. Highly recommend this spot.

Google
Great neighbor-owned and operated spot. Have been wishing for this location to be filled by exactly this kind of offering for years! High quality selection of prepared meals, soups, treats, etc., and solid beer/wine selection. Haven’t tried the specials they tend to make out front on the weekends yet but definitely will soon!

Yelp
Came here for their weekend pork roll egg and cheese sandwich! Such a cute little spot in cabbagetown. They have a little market to roam around in as well. On the weekends, they also have a fried chicken biscuit which I'll need to go back to try. They have a few tables outside in front of the shop to sit, but not much seating otherwise.

Yelp
Food was very good. Chopped cheese was delicious but don't wait too long to enjoy it. It got a little soggy but that was my fault. Eileen from inside the store was so nice and helpful. Absolutely lovely service from her. We will be coming back thank you so much.

Yelp
I recently stopped in at Mikkelson's Market. Do NOT let the unassuming exterior fool you! Tucked away on the outskirts of Cabbagetown, this place is your newest hidden gem. From the moment I walked in, I felt right at home, which says a lot as a PNWer. Staff is incredibly friendly and connective. The market is beautifully curated, making it perfect for picking up a quick thoughtful gift, along with a great selection of essential AND gourmet items, saving the day on all fronts. The coffee selection leaves me to believe these people know what they're doing ;) Fresh drops from JenChen's, as well as a fridge stocked with quick dinners. One of the highlights has to be their amazing candy selection. Candy is mostly from Sweden. The chocolate, out of this world. Also, my dear parental friends, it is small enough (ie. not overstocked=fresh) to not overwhelm a whole hour when all you meant to do was pick up some coffee or a quick dinner on the way home from all the activities. Can't wait to see what they do next.
