The food is delicious we tried a little bit of everything fried chicken, pasta, smothered pork chops,7 sides we wanted to try everything and the pecan pie was on point 💯 let me say the food is amazing and the portions were very generous. DEFINITELY GOING BACK!! only issue I had is the staff was rude not very nice at all when we walked in no one welcomes you in nothing I had asked a lady in a black chef jacket what was recommend to order since it was our 1st time and we had traveled all the way from Austin to come here and try the food she ignored me and keep being mad about fried chicken that wasn't ready also the young lady that served the sides and corn beard was rude she just looked at us like why were we there and served us like it was a problem but the manager did pass by and ask how was the food finally someone nice enough with good customer service skills over all the food is worth going back

Stepping into Mikki's Soulfood Cafe was an absolute delight, and my recent visit truly exceeded expectations! From the moment I walked in, the welcoming atmosphere and the sheer variety of delicious options on display were impressive. The restaurant was impeccably clean, making for a very comfortable dining experience. I had heard whispers about their legendary oxtails, and they did not disappoint – truly some of the most magical I’ve ever tasted, tender and bursting with flavor. The candied yams were perfectly balanced with just the right amount of sweetness and a delightful hint of crispy burnt sugar. Paired with the creamy, rich mac n cheese and the incredible cornbread, every bite was a taste of pure comfort food heaven. Even the collard greens had a wonderfully robust flavor that complemented the meal perfectly. The portions were incredibly generous, easily enough to share or enjoy for another meal, which is fantastic value. What truly set this visit apart was the exceptional customer service; a special shoutout to the young gentleman at the register who was incredibly friendly and efficient, making the entire ordering process a breeze. Mikki's Soulfood Cafe offers top-tier food and service that makes you want to come back for more. I’m already planning my next visit to dive into more of their fantastic offerings!

I visited this restaurant on a Tuesday, 30 mins before closing. They still had a variety of options left. We were able to try the dishes we wanted. The oxtails didn’t look done to me but American style oxtails are different (maybe?). I don’t know. I don’t eat them. My daughter loved them! I had the baked chicken, Mac n cheese and yams! It was really good, but, I will say, I like Esther’s food way more. The chicken was a little dry. The restaurant was clean but I didn’t have the desire to sit down and eat (even though they were closing). My daughter liked her food, 10/10. Me? Ehhh, 8/10. The pasta was okay, but it tasted really shrimpy (if that’s a word). Price was kind of steep. I spent almost $90 (I didn’t get dessert but included a picture here for reference). The customer service was top tier (shoutout to the young gentleman with locs who was running the register). I’d visit again, but maybe the one in Pearland over this one!

These are hands down some of the most magical oxtails I’ve ever had. The spot was a little intimidating coming through the first time just because there were so many options to choose from. I chose the heavy hitters and I think I came out pretty good. Oxtails and greens have never failed together as a combination. The candied yams - just enough sweetness and it has some crispy burnt sugar goodness. The cornbread was bomb diggity too. Food was so good, I came back not long after.

I frequent this restaurant often. As of today, I will never order from this restaurant again. Today I was scammed. I always order their chicken and shrimp fettuccini without sides for $15.95 and it always came in a white tray. Today I placed an order on Grubhub and received a side of fettuccini in a small container instead of a full tray for $15.95, what made it even worst, they gave me left overs from yesterday with no meat or shrimp, just all noodles. I was furious. This is totally unacceptable and unprofessional. Update- To whom ever is responding to this review. Again, I frequent this restaurant often. You guys have never put your fettuccini in a small container like this, ever ! If this is the new standard size you shouldn’t be charging people $15 for this small cup ! I took this photo right when I opened the container and it should have never been this empty ! The food wasn’t fresh. It was dry left overs from the day before. I waited 1hr for you to fix your tablet/pos system to place an order; just to receive a toddler size portion. Also the delivery company isn’t responsible for issuing the refund, you are ! A refund was never issue. This type of poor service and behavior is why Black businesses gets a bad reputation. Do better !

My mom loved it so much!! I, on the other hand, wasn't very impressed. It's good but not over the top Great tasting. The only WOW factor I experienced was that the portion sizes are definitely enough to feed 2-3 people. I ordered the meat loaf and expected such a different flavor. I couldn't eat it and enjoy it. It had a vinegar/ sour taste vs. a savory flavor that I was expecting to experience. The collared greens with ham had a great flavor. However, the leaves tasted still a bit uncooked. My mom can't wait to go back. ;) I don't have any desire to go back.

The food is amazing and the portions are huge. I had the oxtails, cabbage and cheese and broccoli rice casserole, and every bite was tasty. My husband's meal of smothered pork chops, collard greens and candied yams tasted delicious too. This is our 3rd time back and we've never been disappointed! Thank you too the wonderful crew!!!

In the past, I was a frequent visitor. Today was my first time going in a few years. I ordered oxtail, greens,green beans and a slice of Italian cream cake. The oxtail over rice was good but did.not taste as good as in the past. The greens were fair and the corn bread was not was My Italian cream cake was dry, I found a couple of nuts and no coconut at all. The icing was not an Italian cream icing. The cake was frozen and thawed Super, super dry. Avoid it Mikki's not the same. Stay home and cook for yourself, you will be glad you did.

Make sure to bring your appetite to this place. They are not stingy with the food. The people are really nice as you walk through the line to order. It's spacious inside, so seating was no issue. Food was hot, fresh, and tasted great. It reminded me of my grandmother's soulful cooking. I had the meatloaf, sweet yams, and collard greens. Oh, and I had to wash it down with some kool-aid.

We had just got back from a mini vacation and was looking for a soul food restaurant that was open since it was Memorial Day. Came across this place as a recommendation so we decided to stop. Upon arrival we got in line (food is served buffett style) We decided on the oxtails mac and cheese, baked beans, Brisket, mac and cheese, and yams and 2 big Reds. Everything was very welll proportioned and seasoned well. We were checking out and realized the prices on the board didn't align with what we were charged ex: Oxtails board states 29.95 we were charged 32.95 there was no price on the beef brisket however they rang up as beef tips 23.95. The bathroom didnt have any paper towels and the hand dryer didn't work. Other than that it was a pretty good experience. And we will return.

The service staff were friedmndly and courteous. The line moved too slowly, and by the time we made it to the sides, there wasn't enough available to choose from on a Saturday evening about 6:30 pm. The quality of the food has diminished. The quantity was very satisfactory, but why have alot if it isn't very tasty, just alright. Just before leaving, I paid $6 for 4 cookies, teaches i guess. I'm very sorry to say, they were not good.

DoorDash driver, took 40 minutes of waiting to get food. Don't order to go, at least; it's due to their lack of staff and influx of customers so they aren't able to accommodate take online out orders in a reasonable manner.

Me and my family really enjoyed this place. Tons of variety to choose from, and everything was made with love, just like GMA did it. We came around 7pm on a Thursday, and the line moved fast, and the food was still fresh.

We always return to Mikki's when I need my southern soul food fix. Delicious, consistent, and large portions! Friendly staff, free parking in lot (watch out for the big potholes ), bring your wallet- it's pricy but worth it. Atmosphere is family friendly with late owner honored in photos. Many celebrity pictures who have also enjoyed Mikki's

On New Year's Day I visited Mickey soul food in Pearland. So I happen to be in the Southwest today and I figured let me try Mickey's on the southwest side the OG location that I was used to. Food: I went with my kind of favorite Sol food dish, which is smothered chicken. It was simply amazing. The pieces of chicken were really big as well. They do not skimp your hair. You could probably feed two people maybe even three with the portion size here. Unless you're very hungry, I think it'll be pretty hard to finish this mill. Back to the food, this mother chicken was top-notch. Also, the mac & cheese was simply amazing. The broccoli, rice casserole was some of the best you will ever have. The white rice and gravy was really good as well. I will notice though the cornbread didn't taste too sweet and good is the one from Pearland. It was really good don't get me wrong, but the one in Pearland was exceptional for the cornbread. I'll definitely keep coming to this location and the one in Pearland.five star all the way. This is probably the best soul food in Houston Texas.

Got the smothered pork chops with Mac and cheese, collard greens, and cornbread. It was great and it's a lot of food. It came with two pork chops and 2 massive sides. Easily enough for two or maybe three meals. You must get the collard greens. Just right with a little bit of spice!

Ohh my my my. I ordered from the Cypress area and it was well worth the wait. I ordered Chitterlings , Yams and Greens and each one was packed full of flavor. I will definitely be ordering again.

The food is legit very good. Everything tastes like a great home cooked meal. The only issue is its price is so expensive. You're almost guaranteed to spend $40 minimum per person.

They give you lots of food. They better with the prices you paying. There's always a line. The OG of southern comfort food.

2 locations -Tilapia and shrimp Alfredo was so delicious along with the sides and grape koolaid! macaroni still bomb! Everything is so delicious, I wasn't a fan of the smothered chicken it was okay! but they don't miss on everything else!

What a disappointment! I stopped at the Mikki's on West Bellfort/59 hoping to get a tasty meal! Instead, I got food that was way too salty and made me sick! I will NEVER return to this location! They used way too much salt in the food! Mikki's isn't as good as it used to be! It wasn't worth the price!

My wife found this soul food spot that she wanted to try. Looked online and they had specials that say $9.95 between 11pm-2pm and we went around that time. The price is no longer $9.95 and apparently the special is all day now so it's $14.95 - Service is fast and easy and it's a cool ambiance inside. Food is good too ! We both got Monday specials- smothered fried chicken with 2 sides and cornbread. I got jalapeño cornbread my wife got regular. Also got cherry kool aid - only reason it's 4 and not 5 stars is cuz they gotta update that website price lol

Walked in to a nice surprise. Food smells just smack you all in the face. So if you wasn't hungry you will be! Cafeteria type setup where you can see the food before you buy it. You can even taste a lil dabble if you're a skeptic. Turkey wings weren't dry and very tender tasteful. Yams felt like mommas and Big Momma's cabbage and greens. Dem oxtails are the truth and the portions are enough for 2 people to eat out of one plate. Food is presented to go but you can sit down and unpack it and get your grub on. All tables very clean. They gave us kool-aid fresh from the back. Now you know it was good.. a little too sweet for me. The staff was All very friendly and accommodating.

I stopped by for lunch on 3/17/25 at 12:20 pm. The entrance door was not clean and full of fingerprints. I ordered the Oxtail Plate to go. There were no prices posted anywhere. I got oxtails, rice, brown gravy, greens, sweet potatoes, cornbread and sweet potato pie. I was underwhelmed with the food. The pie and cornbread were not fresh. The food is overpriced. Not sure if I'll go back.

Good home cooking. The most amazing strawberry cake with fresh strawberries on top and in the homemade icing!

I dint want to cook, but Ai regretted this meal. No seasoning just salk. Hard rice and salty sweet potatoes. They have lost their touch since owner died. Don't waste your money

We ordered from Mikkis today and were VERY disappointed with the chitterlings. They were dry, tasted old and had a slight odor (other than normal chitterling smell). I am not sure if these were old chitterlings from older batches but they were GROSS. $30+ dollars wasted on my meal alone and it is sad. DO NOT order the chittleings here. The rest of the food was ok.

Ordered from uber eats and didn't receive half my order. Not only did uber eats refuse to review my issue to rectify it, I didn't even have the opportunity to speak to Mikkis about it because no one answers the phone. I left a voice message with details about the situation and my phone number, I received no call back. $60 gone down the drain. Very unprofessional.

I order ox tails and upon check out the cashier and prep lady handling the plates gave me the wrong plate, which they were already confused about another order. Use to give us our plate once completely. Another person when dealing with a complete order used to sit the plate away from completed orders. Need sometime of accountability or practice on correct order for correct customer. New servers I had and the experience with the exception of the Guy who made my plate with ox tails and Guy on sides after that, confusion between handling and delivering accurate plate to cashier. Hopefully they read this and adjust and pay attention so next time I have the right plate and won't be surprised when I get to work

I love love love their cabbage. It is so good! Today I got their smothered pork chops and they were a little dry, however I would definitely go back to try a different meat. I love how they put everything in to go boxes so you don't have to worry about it later.

This place is PERFECTION! We randomly stumbled upon it and what a blessing. Not only do you get huge heaping portions, but the food is simply amazing. We wanted to try alllll the sides but went with 5 between the two of us. Mac and cheese, collared greens, cabbage, Cajun corn, and candied yams. All so delicious it's hard to pick a favorite! But I think the candied yams stole my heart. I had the peppered hamburger steak. It comes with mashed potatoes and a gravy. Again, soooo delicious! Thick and creamy potatoes and gravy loaded with green peppers. This place is a MUST.

Let's start off saying this was my first time here, so after reading the reviews I still ended up giving it a try. So when I got there everything was clean and neat the young lady who was working wasn't as friendly but wasn't mean either she was just there but they asked was me and my sibling was on one ticket and we was so after picking the food and etc we cashed out well my thought was the food was suppose to be all in one but I guess somehow we only got one order now remind you we walked to get extra condiment so even after grabbing the one bag we was in the restaurant for a min so by all means I'm thinking yall make the food and bag it so we both didn't realize that one food order was missing so mind yall I live 30 mins away usually I taste my food before leaving but I had faith and didn't want to mess with the bag untill I got home moral of the story is This ruin my whole dang day like I didn't get a chance to eat one time today and was really looking fwd to having my meal so my suggestion workers we gotta pay a lil more attention and including myself but I had to share because I really wanted to taste you guys food

I am very disappointed with this restaurant and their Thanksgiving meal preordered logistics. It was very disorganized and disappointing. They had one line for customers that preordered Thanksgiving meal and wanted a to-go meal. It's really surprising that they have been in busy for quite some time and their plan wasn't well executed. I waited in line outside for 2 hours and then I waited another 1 hour inside for my preordered meal. The orders were not prepared although all customers prepaid. They staff bagged and boxed the items as the customers were waiting. They ran out of boxes and placed all items in bags. When I arrived at home and retrieving the bags out of the car. They tore and the containers spilled in my car. It's such a sad situation. I will never order anything again from this restaurant.

I'm visiting the area for business and wanted some good soul food before returning home. After attempting to go to two different restaurants, who were both closed, my Lyft driver took me here. The restaurant is very nicely decorated, and clean, but very cold. After waiting in line for several minutes, I was so cold I almost had to leave. But once I braved the cold and received my food, I was very pleased. The food was delicious and the portions were huge! I had enough for 3 servings. There's lots of variety to choose from and they kept bringing food out to make sure it was fresh.

Ordered via UberEats last night and OMG the food is bomb. We had oxtails, greens, yams, mac & cheese, cornbread, catfish. The food is SEASONED without being SALTY (yes, there is a difference). The oxtails are everything (good) you've already heard. The mac&cheese is the real thing and the yams were candied without being too syrupy sweet. I love how the sides demand respect. If you told me I could only order the sides, I wouldn't be mad. As for portions, the oxtails + 3 sides will feed me for 3 days; my brother says he'd have enough leftover for a heavy snack or maybe a small lunch.

I have been here before when I worked on the area. I had to come back to bring my husband. The place got a facelift it seems like. We had the number two on the menu beef strips with mash potatoes and Mac and cheese. We also got an order of f boudin balls and you do have to wait for them about nine minutes but they come out warm. The food was delicious and full of flavor watch order comes a cornbread.

This food did miss the soulfood notes as promised. Who serves Smothered Chicken without a starch? Or Beef Tips without a starch? This food ain't cheap, I will dbl think next time when I'm craving Soulfood. The servers need to pay more attention to the customer I'd say.

****update**** I just want to say I have the best fb friends ever. Yall was ready to go to war over this post lol. Thanks to everyone that reached out to Craig to let him know of my experience. He did contact me directly with an apology and wanting to make things right as possible. We did use them for our April celebration and this time I worked with Betty from the Pearland location. She was professional and quick. This time the food showed up and it was on time. The food was really good and we were able to celebrate our associates the right way this time. I can't express how important good service is in the food industry. Glad this was able to be turned around.

Good was good. Got the catfish with three sides. Greens, pinto beans and I asked for the broccoli and cheese pilaf/rice but she gave me Mac and cheese but it was still delicious. I got a side of ham hocks and they were soft and flavorful. Service was amazing and I got the food to go but the restaurant looked cleaned. Atmosphere was definitely friendly and service oriented.

Mikkis broccoli cheese casserole with that smothered chicken smacks EVERYTIME!! I cannot get enough. I was sad when they closed the Northside location but its worth the drive. Its always a vibe inside

OH MY GOODNESS...Holy DELICIOUS, is all I can say. I love turnip greens and cabbage, they are cooked and spiced to perfection. The Chicken and Shrimp fettuccine had perfect kick! I kept calling out to my 'Aunt Betty' in the kitchen. Man I have missed her 'greens' and cooking but this brought back wonderful memories of my mother and I going to visit. Not related but they were BEST FRIENDS. Both in heaven now. Thank you for the LOVE you pour into your food and exciting my soul with your delicious food. Definitely 5 STARS GOD BLESS YOU. I was desperately looking for some soul food! A lot of places wasn't open due to the new year, their bad because what I found at Mikki's will be a long lasting Houston relationship! Every outlet I used to look up Mikki's had great reviews! I can see why, the food didn't disappoint I tried the oxtails, chitterlings (I just tried a few bites) meat loaf and catfish lol don't judge me. I'm a food junkie! Every meal included a choice of starch mashed potatoes or white rice. 3 sides, I tried the Mac n cheese, green beans, black eyed peas, yams, corn, and greens. As you can see it's served buffet style, the line moves fairly quick! They have two separate serving rooms. Very smart of them, we dined in. The entire time the flow of traffic was insane, non stop traffic.. The customer service was great Derek was very personable. He checked on us often, asking how everything taste! With so many pictures of famous people I had a moment. I asked if Paul wall was pitbull lol Derek and the security guard said WHAT no that's PAUL WALL!!! Lol my bad I know now to put some respect on Texas native rappers lol I know right, who mistakes Paul wall for pitbull it had to be all my New Year's Eve partying.. all in all the food and customer service is very worthy of five stars. let me not forget to mention the kool aid was delicious! I tried cherry and tropical punch. I also tried a mango and strawberry daiquiri! I loved it as well

This place is awesome the food is amazing, the sweet potatoes are so delicious, and the oxtails are off the hook, the service is great, they really know what they are doing here. The place is clean and has plenty of room to sit down for a great meal.

Went on a Saturday for a late lunch. This is TRUE SOUL FOOD!!!!!!!!! Now I struggled to give 5 stars and here is my reasons. First the prices are high. There weren't many people inside. It looked pretty clean. There was a guy playing music. I would not call him a DJ. You are served cafe style. Something's are already paired. Like I got the oxtails and one of the sides is rice, and I got collard greens. You do get big portions. There are a lot of things to choose from. This is not a fancy place but the food was very close to down home. Now it was a little salty for my taste. However I will go back and try them again.

Tried this place once again and it's got to be the last time. It had been a while since I went so I must have forgotten. Expensive and not good. You would be better off just turning on your own oven and going grocery shopping. The macaroni is definitely bland. The flavor on the collards is good but there are a million stalks! The yams are good. I will give that. But the rest...nah. everyone working there was nice tho

Great food options, good food servings only thing it's a lil to hot inside the weather outside was much cooler the day I went.

Just do yourself a favor and go get a plate. I ordered the roasted chicken with mashed potatoes, Mac and cheese, and yams. Was wayyyy tooo goood omg everything I got was fire also got the banana pudding and it was really good too. I'd def come back next time I'm in Houston!

I took a one day trip to Houston to go attend the pop up for Trill burger by Bun B. Stood in line for 4 hours and decided to call it quits . A friend suggested I try out Mikkis. Upon walking in I was greeted, there was a bit of a line but it moved. The cooks were clean and they kept rotating the food and also kept wiping the counters. I noticed how good they kept their workspace. The food was phenomenal. Tender beef tips, Mac and cheese was great and so was the candied yams. I didn't care for the cornbread...it didn't have much of a taste to it honestly. But this place is amazing, I will return!

Where was this incompetent review? Iiiiii don't know but my mouth is watering all over again and my stomach growling mad because I dug up past photos. On Sundays the line is out the door, but hey WEEE don't mind cause baebaaaa? Da eating gonna be good then a nap afterwards...Heaven on earth. There's nothing like gud chuuch, a gud meal (you know the kind after church meal your distracted by while listening to a message from God) then a full belly that puts you to sleep afterwards. Their staff is trained to pile on the fixings because if they don't they will receive the evil eye. So yeah, as your waiting in line you notice other people's orders and shoots now your turn and you say "uuuuuh rice, uuuu I think I want the smoothered pork chops, uuuh wait wait the oxalis, no sorry the baked chicken,". Now one must decide on 2 sides? Forget it, put yourself out of your misery and pay for an xtra side because the line slows down and your stuck staring at cabbage,corn, green beans, mustard greens, Mac n cheese, yams ALL THAT! Then more troubles, to get desert or not to get desert, screw it get yourself some home made cake or pie. Eat as if it was your last meal :)))

This place use to have some good food and was my go to place for good soul-food. Now, the food tasted horrible, which was quite disappointing. Interestingly, the appearance of the kitchen's staff has undergone a significant change, and so has the taste and quality of the cooking. The greens were gritty (full of dirt), gravy was very thick and lacked flavor, black eyed peas lacked flavor and was under cooked (hard). However, despite the revamped look, the quality of the food has not improved. It seems that while the aesthetic upgrade is noticeable, it hasn't translated into better culinary results. Put the love for cooking back into the food. Not everyone has this art of cooking with LOVE!!

I always love this place and realize I have never leave a review. We sometimes come here to get oxtail and pork chop. The portion was always pretty decent that we can save some portion for next meal.

I am currently standing in line (since 2:20) it is currently 5:00 & I still have not been able to pickup my pre-paid Thanksgiving order. Line not moving, orders not ready, no bags or boxes & the worst experience ever!!! Totally disorganize!!!! I will NEVER come here again!!!!!

This spot serves cafeteria style, and it's like a fresh and tasty homemade meal. Not over salty, like many soul food places and the portions are plentiful. I was a little disappointed the only fish on the menu was tilapia, because, ew.
