"Mikki’s Soulfood Cafe in Brays Oaks usually has a line that could put every club in a ten-mile radius to shame. A case can be made to order essentially everything at Mikki’s, which is why everyone—from couples grabbing a quick bite to impromptu family reunions—can be found here. The cafeteria-style soul food restaurant has the classics—fried chicken, smothered pork chops, oxtail—along with daily specials. Spend the time waiting in line to decide whether you want your fried chicken with syrupy candied yams, collard greens, cabbage, or all three. And if you find the time on a Sunday, get a fried fish dinner and add a little hot sauce on top. Whatever day of the week you make it to Mikki’s, come as early as you can because they will almost certainly sell out." - gianni greene

First time trying this place and ordering delivery. I tried the chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes, broccoli cheese rice, red beans, green beans, and macaroni and cheese. I really liked the green beans, broccoli cheese rice, and macaroni and cheese. The red beans were alright, but there weren't many beans due to fatty meat parts that I couldn't eat. The mashed potatoes didn't taste like they were made from real potatoes. Also, the chicken breast was unusually large and thick, which I've never seen before from organically grown chicken. As someone who prefers organic meat, I couldn't eat it. However, I'm sure someone who enjoys this type of meat would appreciate its size. Overall, Not bad...

I am happy to say that the food here is pretty good. I haven't had soul food in quite some time, and their Mac n Cheese and Broccoli cheddar rice was amazing! Strawberry cake with a center that has a different surprise! I will definitely return. The meatloaf was pretty salty, but I also try to stay away from things that are very salty, so it might just be me. Stop by when in Houston!

The food has definitely gotten much better since the last time I came. I think they need more help on the food line because plates were backed up, and the employees kept walking off, leaving us waiting. Everything I had was good, so no complaints about the food itself.

Great portions. Well seasoned. Large selection of genuine soul food. Long lines but moved quickly. Friendly and professional service

This literally just happened! The woman nabs my food and tries to hand me the bag but it’s literally dripping all over the floor! Now I had asked could my food just be bagged as it was ready instead of it sitting there while they waited for ‘greens’ for other customers! Already been a ten minute wait! So she takes my food back and then I see that she is DRIPPING FROM HER NOSE!!!!! The boy on the register tells her after I tell her and she wipes her nose with her gloved hand!! Before she touches my ci two ers of food anymore, I just grab it and say, I will bag it myself! I move it to the register counter and grab two bags! One if the young ladies comes over to start bagging it and the only one with the good sense to realize this is poor customer service..:. And the boy behind the register tells her to put the bag down and go on while he proceeds to watch me bag my own food! I told him that was horrible customer service and he in smart mouth mode tells me, “I’m not the one”! For 60 plus dollars for two meals and nasty customer service and dropping noses, I will never darken their door again! It’s sad that you can never expect true customer service from…well, you know!

Salty, salty, salty. Did I mention the food is salty. Way too expensive for a salt lick. Cornbread fire. Music was cool. Soulfood doesn't mean we lose our souls eating it. Drink a lot of water. Won't be back.

I have to eat here every time I visit Houston. One time I drove from Fort Worth just to eat for the weekend. The food is always on point. The staff is always friendly and fast. This place honestly could not get any better. I’m from Mississippi originally and this place feels like I’m back home in Grandma’s Kitchen.
