"Technically this beloved Sacramento-area sushi institution isn’t at Arden Fair mall, but it’s just across the parking lot at Market Square. For more than three decades, Mikuni has been the Sacramento area’s spot for solid sushi, whether you’re craving a generous rainbow-hued chirashi bowl or a roll smothered in sauce and sprinkled with masago. Open for lunch and dinner, the restaurant often has a wait but you can always browse Barnes & Noble across the way in the meantime." - Lauren Saria, Becky Duffett

Google
Very delicious! I had their beef curry and really enjoyed the thickness & flavor of the sauce and loved how tender and well seasoned the beef was! I also tried one of their scallop sushi dishes and I particularly liked its sweet, savory and smoky flavor. I will definitely come back 😊

Google
Great place for Japanese food. The server was super nice and was able to recommend an amazing appetizer, she made sure it was perfect for me and even offered to exchange it if it wasn’t what I was looking for. Sushi was huge! A little bit complicate to eat because it had tons on different ingredients, but it was really tasty.

Google
Been going to Mikuni for years and never disappoints. I have to many favorites to name. Tan tan men, dynamite fin, Iron chef combo is a favorite during lunch along with the Bambi nigiri, and much more. This is their new spot and I love it.

Google
Got the 2 for $70 deal, and though it's a bit pricey, it's worth it. You get an entrée, two rolls (not pictured), and a dessert. We ordered the beef curry, Marilyn Monroll, Fair Oaks Roll, and a chocolate lava cake. Everything was delicious, and the staff was kind and attentive.

Google
Mikuni has a great reputation for Sushi already, and this new location did not disappoint. Beautifully appointed restaurant, two bars, sushi, and drink. Lots of seating. The fish was fresh. The plates were beautiful, and the food was delicious. The staff was attentive. I arrived hyst before happy hour ended, but the waitress allowed me to order starters for the table with just two minutes left, even though my friends weren't there yet. We'll definitely return.

I came here on a date night. This is my first time at this location. Server was very wonderful. My sushi was great. The only issue I had was I ordered chicken teriyaki and it just tasted so old and I didn’t even eat it. It tasted horrible other than that everything else was fine.

Google
Great sushi and great place to enjoy friends. It’s pricey but great for a nice occasion. Lots of items on the menu, but the staff really helps you pick something out that you’ll like.

This is my first visit to Mikuni's at this location. I have eaten at the one on 16th Street, on Fair Oaks, and Taro's in Arden Mall, in addition to Mikuni's in Elk Grove and in Davis. I loved the decor of this one as well as the service. I was a little disappointed in the food: the sauce on the teriyaki chicken was too bold/artificial tasting/syrupy instead of the chicken having been marinated and then cooked/grilled in the teriyaki sauce; the California rolls wasn't pressed well enough and each piece fell apart; the salad dressing was bland; and the namasu was flat. But the other people on my table enjoyed their vegetarian sushi, their tempura and sesame chicken; and their sashimi plate.

Yelp
I had lunch at this relatively new Mukuni's location earlier this week. Very nice ambience, good seating options, and two bars - one regular and one sushi. The service I experienced was exceptional, particularly for a Friday at noon. My meal consisted of Sashimi and a Roll. Of course, Edamame was also served. The Sashimi I selected was Hamachi (Yellow Tail) and Saki (Salmon). Generous portions of fresh, tasty fish. The Jerry Roll was also delicious. Double Panco Shrimp, Crab Mix, Avocado, Shrimp, Special Sauce, and Green Onion. More than I could eat, and the Shrimp was plentiful. I will return ... in my opinion this location lives up to the Makuni brand.

Yelp
Second time here at the new location. I got the Tuna slider 1 and Japanese mafia roll and my bill was $46! There were several staff just milling about while our server was running to stay on top of his section. The manager should be making sure that doesn't happen. It is really loud inside so if the weather is decent, sit outside. As always, Mikuni shoul really try to start serving sushi only made from responsibly caught and sustainable fish. There are a lot of items on the menu that are the reason our oceans have been overfished. I mean, try to make a difference.

Vanessa V.

Yelp
New aesthetically pleasing location! Our food was good -- $22-$25 lunch combo with three items as pictured. Large portions for definitely worth it (and shareable). The gyoza was delicious -- the sauce it comes with was delightful (used it on my sushi too). We arrived at 1pm on a Friday and it wasn't overly crowded, by the time we left around 2:15pm it was pretty empty. The staff was friendly and the service was fast.

Yelp
My coworkers and I were so excited that Mikuni opened down the street from our office! It's a great location for all those working near by. We came in during lunch on a weekday and were quickly seated, however the restaurant is much smaller than I expected so I can imagine the waits can get long. The service was fairly quick. Our meal was served within 15 minutes of ordering - which was great for our hour lunch! The tempera green beans were delish and our rolls were tasty too. I haven't been to mikuni in awhile, but I noticed that they revamped their menus and they're much nicer. They also clearly lay out their lunch specials and happy hour offerings. We can't wait to be back for happy hour really soon!

Amy H.

Yelp
I. Love. Mikuni. Enough said. I used to go to the old location in the arden mall when I was younger and loved it but it wasn't until recently visiting their new location on fair oaks that I remembered why. This realization was quickly followed by remorse of all those wasted years not going to Mikuni's. Sigh. Anyhow the reason I love Mikuni's aside from their fair prices, bite sized rolls and dark moody ambiance is their flavors. Their miso soup is perfect. It's got the right amount of saltiness, umami, tofu and seaweed. I also adore their freaky edamame. I've tried other restaurants and to make it at home but there's just nothing that compares. And finally their zig zag hand roll and fair oaks are just so delightful. Hands down favorite sushi restaurant in Sacramento. The service is very attentive and quick as well. Ooh and they have booth seating;)

Jacynda O.

Yelp
Mikuni is one of my favorite Japanese restaurants in the Greater Sacramento. It is perfect for any occasion, whether you are celebrating a birthday or having a casual dinner. You can usually catch me at the bar during Happy Hour. They have an extensive menu, so the options can be overwhelming. My usuals include: Freaky Edamame, BBQ White Tuna, Albacore Pepperfin, Spicy Combo Lunch Special, Lobster Hand Roll, Japanese Mafia Roll, Lobstermania Roll. The service has been consistently good and the staff are very friendly, which is one of the reasons I always return. Opening this location 10 minutes from my house is dangerous for my wallet!

Yelp
Really nice and hip ambiance. All the food was delicious. Apps are on the smaller side. Unfortunately I was so hungry after my drs appt that I forgot to take pictures after the calamari lol Apps: calamari and karage. Calamari was super tender with very light breading. The jalapeños on top added a little kick. Delicious sauce. Karage had large chunks but only about 6 pieces. Another great sauce came with it. If you're with a large group you'll have to order extra and prices aren't cheap. Jerry roll: very large. Each piece had 2 tempura shrimps in it, crab, avocado and cooked shrimp. Covered in eel sauce. Could definitely eat this on its own without apps. Chirashi Don: loaded with fresh fish and came with a little egg omelet which was a nice touch. They had more fish in them some other bowls we've had at different restaurants. Kids bento: picked two items and came with rice. Ordered chicken teriyaki and Ca roll for my daughter. She is only 1.5 years so took a lot home. They used chicken breast so a little dry. They served it with one slice of orange and cherry tomato. A little odd. Wish it would have been a couple slices of orange. Food was really good. Apps are small. Actual meals and rolls were good size but all food is definitely on the pricier side. Probably not a casual dinner. Definitely a special date night spot. They do offer happy hour, which we just missed. The options looked good, so maybe try HH first.

Aaron R.

Yelp
Dropped in over the lunch hour. Mikuni's has been consistent across all locations in their pricing, quality, and timeliness. I always get their calamari as an appetizer, it comes with a great dipping sauce and grilled jalapeños for an extra kick. Their sushi today was good, I'd give it a 8.5 out of 10. I had the hamachi toro night, a rainbow roll, and a mixed assortment of sashimi. This location is brand new and has a welcoming ambiance and great staff

David B.

Yelp
Crazy layout in this newer location. On one side, a sushi bar. The other a bar bar. (booze, etc.) Taller ceilings and darker than I remembered. Service was on point. Never really had to wait for someone to come around. In fact, I stretched my arms at one point and someone asked if I needed anything. If you're inclined to cry about "monster rolls" and "too much sauce" etc., just relax and order the "chirashi don" bowl. Fish, rice and quit whining. It's consistent and pretty convenient!

Yelp
Sunday, 1/21/2024 - Went to Mikuni (the new location). Address is 2339 Fair Oaks Blvd Suite A, Sacramento, CA 95825. Very nice inside. They have a nice large parking lot. Easy to find parking when we arrived for dinner. Upon arrival: Pros 1) they have a nice large parking lot. 2) restaurant looked clean. Silverwares, plates, bowls, cups were all clean. 3) all the sushi were good. The udon noodles dish with shrimp in it was really good. I got the zig zag rolls, it was just....meh. ok. I guess. 4) drinks were good. The did provide hot water. Water tasted good. 5) our server was nice. He checked on us a few times. 6) they do not provide anything here for birthdays, sadly. But we ordered this cheesecake deep fried in an eggroll wrap and it was delicious. They did put a birthday candle on it for me. 7) they have a spin the wheel thing. In your bday, you can spin it and get stuff. I got Mikuni chop sticks. 8) they are allow to split checks 3 way only. No more than that. 9) our server helped take a few photos of our group for us so sweet. He used two phones to take it. 10) bathroom was clean Cons 1) towards the end, our server didn't check on us anymore. We are fit pretty long before he came back and took us to spin the wheel. He still very nice tho. 2) Conclusion This location was just opened not too long ago. Beautiful inside. Sushi were all good. I'm disappointed in the Zig Zag roll. But still ate it anyways. There wasn't much flavor in the zig zag. The rest of sushi were all good. Server and staffs were nice. Spin the when is a fun touch. Love that they provided a bday candle on the deep fried eggroll cheesecake desert. I'd go here again! Try this new location, if you haven't yet

Yelp
5 Very nice ambiance. Good service, fast and reliable, great and recognized brand would recommend.

Ariel M.

Yelp
This was my first time at this location. It's fairly new, but the service and food were great with their other locations. The atmosphere is pleasant. My mother ordered the Pepperfin, California Roll, Mixed Tempura & Benjamin Roll.

Maritza M.

Yelp
Absolutely DELICIOUS!!!! Hands down one of the best sushi places I have ever been too!!! Server recommended his favorite, I ordered 1 of them and I am so glad I did! Went on a very busy Saturday afternoon and were immediately seated. Such a huge menu and the ambiance was great. Definitely one of my new fav sushi sports from now on

Gladys O.

Yelp
First time trying here! Love the place, love the food and their sushi is the best! First time trying tan tan ramen for a long time coz I usually order Tonkatsu ramen. Luckily I did, it was so good, the spice level is great and the soup is hot! Love the place and the vibe. Just a little bit too pricey I guess for the usual Japanese food. But totally would go back again.

Karl A.

Yelp
What a great meal! We got seated fast and our drink order was taken quickly. We ordered some apps too and they didn't take long to get to the table. We started with the flaming mushrooms and the gyoza. Both were full of flavor. It was my first time trying gyoza, and I was so impressed! For the main rolls we tried a couple, the train wreck roll was definitely our favorite. The panko crust with the spicy sauce was an awesome compliment to the eel, tuna, and avocado. Great food, great service! I can't wait to get back!

Yelp
Many people that live in and around the Sacramento area already know that "Mikuni" is a household name and has been billed as Best Sushi in Sacramento. I myself do enjoy their food and have eaten at several locations but as far as the best of this best, I would have to go with "Kru" for the ultimate sushi experience. However, I am focusing on this location, conveniently adjacent to the Arden Fair Mall in the heart of Sacramento. Originally called "Taro's", then "Taro's By Mikuni", and finally named "Mikuni" (as all of their other locations are called), this has been a longstanding restaurant at this location since the mid-2000s. Located at Market Square at Arden Fair, their restaurant is housed in between a Barnes & Noble and California Pizza Kitchen. During my visit which was during the afternoon of Wednesday 8/16/2023 at around 4:00pm, I took full advantage of their Happy Hour specials that run every Monday through Friday from 2:00-5:00pm. In addition to Happy Hour, they also run daily lunch specials (7 days a week) from 11:30am-4:00pm. Upon entering, I told the hostess that I was there specifically for Happy Hour (which is limited seating in the bar area). The layout of this Mikuni is quite unique as the bar area is directly to the left of the main entrance (from the parking lot) while the hallway leads to more of the regular seating that is viewable to the mall. It is quite interesting as it does not follow that standard square or rectangular look that is found in other restaurants. The restrooms are also towards the end area (facing the mall). During my visit, many businesses at Market Square were closed since they were in the process of putting in a "Crunch Fitness". Once seated, I was given an iced water with lemon and a small dish with my wasabi/ginger/soy sauce. Since I was no stranger to Mikuni, I ended up ordering an appetizer of their "Edamame" (priced at $5.50 for HH). I ordered a well-known favorite of the "Fair Oaks Roll" (priced at $10 for HH) and the "Thirty-Nine Roll" (which was a non-HH roll priced at $12). My Edamame arrives first as they were very generous with the portion. My two rolls arrived shortly thereafter and were both quite yummy. The rice was moist while all of the toppings were absolutely above average and filling. As far as the food, ambiance, and prices, everything was good and above average. The service, however was just okay and could use some improvement. When I gave my server my debit card to pay for the bill, it took him a good 15 minutes to bring it back to me. I couldn't find him anywhere and was about to ask a different employee where my card & receipt is. I know in the service industry, people take breaks or have a lot of customers but I just wanted to go about my afternoon. All in all, the Arden Fair "Mikuni Japanese Restaurant & Sushi Bar" was a decent experience. My rating, an above average four stars.

Sam A.

Yelp
I like the new location! A great add to an already pretty nice cluster of restaurants. I hadn't been to any Mikuni in a few years, the Vegi-ten roll wasn't as good as it used to be. But the Sake Aburi 1 nigiri was delicious. Service was spotty, they seemed a little flustered. But overall, pretty food!

Michelle M.

Yelp
Happy About the new location! Huge dining space , sushi bar you can actually see the kitchen in action too , bar area nice with high table tops . Food continue to satisfy and always friendly service

Kat F.

Yelp
TL; DR- Great service at the sushi bar; fresh and delicious fish. Came here on a weekday night for an early dinner and was seated at the bar. I ordered the Tuna sliders #2 appetizer, the salad, and the hamachi ponzu. The Tuna sliders were decadent and a delicious option for both raw and cooked elements. The salad was tasty and a bigger portion than I would have expected for a side salad. The hamachi ponzu with jalapeño and shiso leaves was a great balance of heat, tang, and umami. Would definitely recommend! Service was great. The waiter was attentive and my sushi chef was friendly and made great recommendations based on my preferences and likings for that day. This location is at the Arden Fair Mall area so parking is ample and the location is easy to find.

Pamela P.

Yelp
I love their Nigiri and when they get Otoro I always need to splurge. They have Gluten free options. My husband likes their rolls and my mom likes their veggie options. Great place for family dinners, dates, business lunch or a solo outing.

Nicki N.

Yelp
The food is always the best here... no fresher sushi in town! Today I had pepperfin with additional spicy garlic crunchies on top and it was amazing! Been coming to Mikuni for birthday lunch with my two birthday twins for at least 20 years and finally hit big money!! Thank you Mikuni... come here for your next birthday and spin the wheel!! Ps the new restaurant looks great! And there is a nice little party room.

John G.

Yelp
Hit happy hour here with a friend. Had a bunch of appetizers. Flaming shroons, freaky edamame and a couple of rolls. We were seated fast, food was excellent and service was quick. Oh had the ABSOLUT LYCHEE SHOCK cocktail. It was an interesting experience. I'd order another one. Bite into the umami button and take a sip....

Linh D.

Yelp
Mikuni was absolutely my favorite sushi restaurant when I was living around the area, so when my bosses said they wanted Mikuni for lunch on our business trip to Sacramento, I was so excited! We came here on a Thursday right before opening. We got seated around 11:35AM, and there was actually a lot of people for a weekday lunch. They had a lunch menu so I ordered chirashi don. $24 is a steal for a hefty bowl, although, sashimi to rice ratio was 40:60. No matter, everything was fresh and delicious. I ended up needing a takeout box since I couldn't finish it. It gave me an additional two meals, but then again, I don't eat that much. If you're coming here during lunch, you should absolutely get chirashi don. It's great quality and great value. I can't wait to come back here again! :)

Andres D.

Yelp
Mikuni has some of the best sushi in the Sacramento area. My family ordered two platters and had an absolute feast--every roll is good, all the fish is so so fresh. Nigiri I don't typically like is still amazing here. It's just classic stuff done to perfection. I also tried their Wagyu beef nigiri and it was probably the best bite of beef I've ever had. Ambiance is really nice too, modern but still classy. Absolutely love coming here :)

Richard M.

Yelp
Hands down my favorite Sushi restaurant in Sacramento. They seem to be a local chain. I adore them. a secret they gatekeep is if it's your birthday you get to spin a wheel, I won a bag of high-grade sushi rice!! they also have a prix fixe menu for date night! it's like $70 for a shared starter, a main like teriyaki chicken, 2 sushi rolls from a pre-selected grouping (still delicious and lots of choices), and a shared dessert. totally worth it. I have yet to be able to finish it with a friend with out taking leftovers. delicious and the best, but you get what you pay for so be ready for the bill :)

Allie L.

Yelp
Mikuni is an amazing Japanese restaurant. I love the service and the food is truly top par. The restaurant is always clean and well put together to make any dining experience a good one. Love the california roll, simple and delicous.

Valerie H.

Yelp
Well I really like Mikuni but tried the new location is it was mid. The chicken had no grill marks, two pieces even a little pink. The rice was overcooked, and the tempura was soggy not crispy. This is disappointing as it's also pricey to go to Mikuni!

Ria S.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I love Mukuni's. This location is great and casual ambiance. The food is delicious! We love the weather ahi tuna but it was over done in our opinion. We did enjoy the Benjamin roll, highly recommended. We tried the scallops sliders and it was delicious. Service was quick and fast since we only had a small lunch order. We will visit this location again. Plenty of parking on the lot.

Mikayla M.

Yelp
Reviewing again for the king salmon nigiri, 10/10 very excited to order it again. The sake aburi 2 is also one of my favorites and always a must order. Hard to go wrong with the nigiri here

Julia V.

Yelp
Pleasantly surprised with the quality of this place. Sushi is good, the fish is fresh. No fish scent anywhere. I love sitting at the bar to watch them make sushi and you get your food faster. My favorite thing on the menu where the warm puff daddy's. Perfectly fried. Our food came fast and so did our drinks. This is a good place to dine for 30 mins and get your check. Or stay and hour and devour as much sushi as you possibly can. HUUGGEEE menu literally something for everyone. A little loud inside but what do you expect with tall ceilings and a bunch of people enjoying food.

Charlotte G.

Yelp
We were being seated and then they bring us our tableware and this is what we get. Dirty as can be. They brought us clean ones but who's to say if they recycle the ginger and wasabi to customers. Not my first bad experience. I order the sashimi combo always and the first time at this location and it looked and tasted like it went bad. This location is my least favorite. The servers are not attentive either.

Amy N.

Yelp
This restaurant was a lot larger than I thought when I realized they had a whole other seating area hidden in the back. It's a little too loud sometimes but it's nice inside and a good spot to host large groups. My top 2 are the Beef Curry with Chicken Katsu (maybe Pork?) and Freaky Edamame. I used to be weirded out by the names but the flavor makes up for it. I now unfortunately cannot live off of regular, unseasoned edamame so Mikuni has permanently secured my business with themselves. I usually just want edamame to satisfy my cravings so I don't bother dining in for a full meal and dealing with the wait time, I just go right to online ordering (man, that's really my thing nowadays) and scheduling my pick up time. Sometimes it'll be a few minutes behind when it's busy but it's usually always ready once I arrive, utensils already included and tied up. I only wish it was possible to enroll for their customer account online to earn points rather than in-person because I forget to ask.

Madison A.

Yelp
This is my favorite Mikuni location! I admit I come here far too much but glad to be considered a regular because they deserve it. We always have such great service. Erika the manager is my absolute favorite. She always makes it a point to come say hello and her warm inviting tone makes you feel welcome. She is the best. The consistency in flavor and quality of each dish is unmatched. Often with sushi places you may love it one visit and the next things tasted fishy. Not a Mikuni it's always perfect never fishy. I haven't tasted anything I don't like. I suggest starting with Miso, Farmers Beer, and freaky garlicky edamame. The flaming shrooms and puff daddy are always a hit. Pepper fin and sea steak are my go to items. Getting the Benjamin roll is absolute must. I also enjoy them DMC and Aerojet. If you love sushi and great service you will love this location!

Gina O.

Yelp
I can't believe how expensive this place has gotten. The staff were very friendly and the happy hour was great. I will never come back to eat a normal dinner here expensive.

Megs S.

Yelp
If you like modern American take on sushi then this is your jam but not mine. Many rolls to choose from, most of them slathered with mayo sauces. Not a place to come and order authentic tempura or ramen if you don't want the sushi. The sashimi grade fish is ok , I wouldn't hype it or suggest to come here for a sashimi plate. There's no fresh shiso, wasabi or radish and the cuts of fish are mediocre.

Gillian O.

Yelp
The absolute best sushi, ever! You literally can not go wrong here. Their edamame is unmatched! Definitely order the freaky with garlic.. no better combo!! The fish is fresh, the service is great, ALL locations are gorgeous and clean. It's not often a "chain" restaurant.. especially sushi.. is a hit at every location! No sushi restaurant can compare! My go to's: pepperfin, the Benjamin, freaky and garlic edamame-combined, tuna slider 2, Mikey hand roll, flaming shrooms, bbq albacore, dmc roll, fair oaks, sea steak, illegal asparagus, puff daddy, bobs roll, black & white.

AJ L.

Yelp
It was my first time here at Mikuni and it was such a lovely experience. Our server Andrew was such a nice young gentleman and made us feel welcome and made sure we had everything that we needed. The food was tasty and was plated beautifully. The stand out of the night was definitely the service, you would be lucky to have the opportunity to sit in Andrew's section for the night.

Milanya J.

Yelp
My favorite is the Marilyn Monroll! I really like the sushi at this place. Very amazing job! This is the best raw fish I has ever recently

Katie B.

Yelp
Love the food here (and I don't eat sushi) My partner however does, and loves to order "chefs specials" where they make up something awesome that's not on the menu. He also loves Aerojet, puff daddy, incredible roll, and others that I don't want to butcher the names of. I order the sesame chicken and am obsessed with freaky edamame. On another note, we have a baby and it's really inconvenient that this new location doesn't have a changing table in the bathroom.

Tien N.

Yelp
Food was great and the location was as well. Staff was great too. 4 star for food quality based on price where you can get better food for a better price. Main item that stood out for me was the edamame with spicy garlic.

Rosa V.

Yelp
So happy this place opened! Ordered Mikey Handroll Tako Handroll Rainbow Roll Green tea Green tea mochi Kevin was our sushi chef and made everything taste amazing! Definitely coming back to sit at the bar! Andrew our server was very attentive, was timely about getting our check and taking away empty plates and refills! (Would've taken pictures but the food looked too good I ate it too quickly)

Marc T.

Yelp
Food was good fed allmof us 17ish very well. My food came first. Always smart to make sure the big man gets fed and watered.. has a cocktail or two. They were done correctly. The?waitress was on point..

Kelsey B.

Yelp
We enjoyed the meal and Jordan was an ace in the hole for his probability and friendliness. A+ for having a gluten free menu as well!

Joy L.

Yelp
This is their 1,000th review! Woohoo! What I love about this place is the cleanliness and how friendly the customer service is. Pimp my roll is the way to go, it has tuna and salmon, can't go wrong. Each bite has a jam pack action. I'd come back here when I'm in the area.

Alicia G.

Yelp
Always high quality sushi! Delicious, fresh, creative and a Sac town favorite! There are several of these, as it's a bit of a small local chain, but they are all great. Also lots of fun cocktails. They have a variety of specialty menus as well including both non raw rolls and gluten free rolls. Don't miss the puff daddy appetizer stuffed with crab!

Kris M.

Yelp
Mikuni is a consistently solid. An easy "go to" place for a quick bit, especially if you are into rolls--- the menu is extensive. I always start with the bbq albacore app...

Brian J J.

Yelp
Impersonal Service of medium quality sushi. Gone in there approximately 5 times now. Standard Mikunis fare as far as the quality of the food. 3 out of the 5 times we had some kind of issue with the service/staff. Last time we were then we decided to take our dogs out for the day and sit outside using the patio area. Their patio area is large and at the time highly unoccupied. We were notified that they do not allow dogs on the patio. That was the straw that broke the camel's back. Too much corporate nonsense for medium quality sushi to go again and give them our business. There are a lot of other places nearby that offer the same if not better quality of food and treat you as family vs just another number. I would try Azayaka Japanese Fusion off La Riviera instead, if you are having a sushi craving.

Yelp
Excellent dining experience and quality sushi & sashimi - a great place to celebrate special occasions. We ordered the Platter E - sashimi platter which is the chef's selection of the day's freshest sashimi ... sooo good!!! Big price tag, but it was the best sashimi I ever had. The platter is great for sharing. For appetizer, we had Puff Daddy, Yuzu Calamari, and Flaming Shrooms - all delicious! And for our main dishes, we ordered the Teriyaki Salmon, Beef Curry with Pork Cutlet, Benjamin, Benjamin Roll, and Pimp My Roll. Our server was friendly and pleasant. Everything we ordered was excellent. I definitely recommend Mikuni's. There are several locations in the Sacramento area, as well as in the Bay Area (Concord.) Check them out!

Yelp
I don't normally post reviews (less than 5 over a 10 year span), but I couldn't help but post one today. The food was amazing; Japanese Mafia roll is still the best sushi roll out there in my opinion, and I've only found a couple that were even close. Service was every bit as good as the food; Nou was attentive and charming like normal, and somehow remembers my usual order, even though it's normally 6 months to a year in between visits. Naturally good memory or not, that takes intention, and something that as a customer I take notice of. Do I wish the prices were lower? Sure, but you can't expect that quality of food and service at bargain prices, especially nowadays.

Yelp
Always love coming here. Ambiance, lighting, decor are all super tasteful. Quality of sushi and food never fails. Service is professional, prompt and kind. Desserts are creative and so delicious (I never order desserts--just here). A little fancy without being snooty.
