Yelp
TLDR: tasty drinks, chips, salads, guac, tacos, enchiladas... no complaints, but don't be surprised if there's a long wait for a table + service is...slow -- wth do you expect for a place that's regularly packed? If you're really in the mood for items on the menu, it's worth it. If you're just hungry and wanna grab something nearby, there are plenty of options, and please don't come here to write a one star review because you had a wait *rolling eyes emoji*.
Longer version:
My mom was recently in town, but staying in the South Bay this trip, so my sister, my (Mexican) boyfriend, myself in the city plus my aunt on the Peninsula hatched a plan to gather midway in RWC. My BF and I have been on a "try ALLLLLLL the quesabirria!" kick, and that stood out on the menu when I was browsing a few options. My family used to regularly gather at Padrecito (RIP) in the city, so trying a new Mexican restaurant in a city none of us frequent felt right.
Yes, there will be a wait. Put your name down and go for a walk. Or wait patiently in the (small) entrance area. If you're a large party, do us all a favor and step outside. I don't understand people who come to Yelp to write a one star review complaining about something that was clearly explained to you slash don't understand wait times are based on table turnover -- if the time is longer than initially expected, blame the guests who took their time finishing their meal. Y'all obviously have never worked in any type of service role.
We ordered chips, guac, and salsa for the table + drinks -- all came out fairly quickly. My boyfriend got the espresso drink, which came with many espresso beans as garnish, while the rest of us stayed a bit more "classic" -- a few margaritas, and I got the pineapple drink -- all quite tasty, though I wish a little more spirit forward ;) The salsas had nice variety, and one is definitely more spicy than the others. If you're a spice wimp, use caution LOL
It took a little longer than anticipated for our food to come out, but that's just fine -- they refilled our chips and checked on us twice.
Once the food came out, it was piping hot and just as ordered.
Enchiladas suiza were nice and creamy, full of protein inside.
Mole enchiladas had rich flavor.
My sister got two tacos, and we were so happy that she was able to pick two different types and have some variety. She went for battered fish as well as carne asada -- both tasty!
Quesabirria was delicious, though, considering portion, a little pricier than what we're used to in the Mission. Consomme was 10/10, which isn't always the case. The side of onions and jalapenos was a nice touch.
Overall, no complaints. We knew there'd be a wait, and the food was delicious. By no means are we leaving the city only to eat in RWC, but if there's ever another need to grab a meal mid-peninsula, this will be on the list to consider.
