We have been visiting Milda's for years. Such a warm and friendly place. Staff are so wonderful. We love the Carmel and cinnamon rolls. Today I tried the ham scramble it was delicious. I've tried many things alway good with large portions. The chicken wings are yummy too.Love this sweet diner.

Google
Like a snapshot of the 70s downtown city diner. Went for breakfast, which serves all of the regular eggs, meats, cakes. Everything we ate was good. No messing around, know what you want to order, and eat. Really good spot though, would go here again when we are in town.

This caramel roll was un-buh-lievable. 😋 Staff was so welcoming and helpful. Beautiful little diner with a solid menu and great vibe.

Google
I went there this morning. Party of 4. I had the veggie omelet (with ham). Comes with hash browns and toast. Omelet was delicious, hash browns were perfect. Others had eggs and hash browns or pancakes. Everything was very good. Service (by a very busy server) was excellent. Friendly atmosphere, easy parking and they haven’t raised prices for egg dishes. I love this place

I absolutely love this place. They are truly iconic with awesome staff. I would go here every day if I lived closer. Seriously, such a good vibe with such good food. Massive portions and everything we got was delicious.

This is a breakfast/diner restaurant that has been family owned for many decades. No wait time when my partner and I went at 10:30am. I got the Philly cheese steak egg scramble and my partner got the typical 2 eggs, bacon and toast breakfast. The Philly cheese steak egg scrambles was hot and good. The cheese was melty and the steak had good flavors to it and it was on a bed of hashbrown that was good (3/5). We also ordered a cinnamon roll that we saw was microwaved to heat it back up but tasted like your typical cinnamon roll. Gooey sauce and soft middle, was decent (3/5). The only con to the place was the service. The waitress was nice and so was the other staff but we never got asked for a refill of water and coffee when there was only us and one other customer in the restaurant. The only time they came back after getting our food was when we were already done with our food and then asked if we wanted more water or coffee. Overall, an okay place with okay food. Would've just liked to have had more attention for refills when needed.

Google
I have ordered from this restaurant several times and everything is really good. The food is fresh not greasy and flavorful. I have only ordered take out so I have no comment on the service or atmosphere. In my opinion they make the best biscuits and gravy!

Google
Food is pretty good pancakes nice and fluffy with the right amount of vanilla and not the cheap stuff toast was a little bit burnt for some but just right for me the Philly hash browns are what I came for generous amount of steak grilled perfect and the cheese is on point however I like my hash brown crispy but maybe I should have specified that to the cook it was hard to eat it all but I made a way will try the cinnamon rolls next time I come back

Yelp
Food 10/10 Service 7/10 they must be short staffed but my food was hot! Service was okay! Ambiance was nostalgic. Affordable prices

Yelp
I was doing the happy belly wiggle while I ate my breakfast. If you are looking for a delicious traditional breakfast, this is the place. I ordered two eggs, bacon, toast, and hash-browns. Everything was perfect! Highly recommend!

Yelp
Milda's is a cute family owned neighborhood cafe. The servers were singing along with the radio as we sat down. Lot of great food including roasted chicken. It's pretty informal, so if you need something get someone's attention instead of waiting. I highly recommend Milda's if you like friendly neighborhood places.

Yelp
Craving diner dive food but in a more relaxed eating environment? Milda's is a great choice. We have been meaning to try this place for years and glad we finally did. Breakfast options are fantastic. Food is fresh, hearty and delicious. Coffee is good. The service is friendly, prompt and helpful. If you're not a breakfast person, they also serve sandwiches, burgers, salads and broasted chicken. Support a local restaurant while getting your fill.

Yelp
Everything I have had there has been good but I can't get over the slow service. Maybe some training is needed. No one has a sense of urgency. Maybe I would call ahead to order next time.

Yelp
This place has been an institution in the neighborhood for years. I have been coming here for the last 15 years and have loved it. Their breakfast and pasty were always a go to. Went there after a while today for lunch. They were short staffed. So it took a few to get service. Once we got our order in for our pasty, the food came out fairly quick. There must have been a change in their recipe because the pasty was spiced differently than before and the meat to potato ratio seemed off too. More than that, it was cooked all the way in the thickest parts. Which was unfortunate as I was looking forward to a pasty from Milda's. I know they changed ownership a few years ago. And maybe they were just having a bad day. I will try it again and give it a chance but I do miss the old Milda's and the hometown diner feel where you were family when you went.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place. They are truly iconic with awesome staff. I would go here every day if I lived closer. Seriously, such a good vibe with such good food. Massive portions and everything we got was delicious.

Yelp
I eat once per month at Milda's with three other folks. We love the wait staff. The food is very good and served quickly. Recently I was there and left, forgetting my Apple MacBook Air. When I got home I realized it was missing. I went online and could see (by tracking software) that it was in the restaurant but it was closed and no one answered the phone. I had to wait till the next morning to see if it was still there. I was there at 7;30 am before they opened at 8. Around 7:45, a car pulled up, parked and a man I recognized got out. He looked at me and Hi! You forgot something yesterday! I have it in the office. He recognized me and remembered me. I was very impressed with this and his attentiveness. He gave me my computer in good condition and I left. This gentleman is the manager or owner. A great great man. Try hospitality. I can't thank him or recommend Milda's enough. An excellent choice for breakfast or lunch!!

Yelp
Had a great first experience this morning at Milda's! Staff was friendly and helpful with the ordering process. Seating was plentiful and the cafe was very clean. Food was absolutely delicious! Cooked to order perfectly and what better finish than a caramel roll. Country fried steak was so tender underneath a layer of sausage gravy! Hash browns were crispy and the chicken sausage had great flavor. All around great breakfast can't wait to revisit Milda's!
google avatar

Yelp
The food is and a gracious portion of food for the price. I just hate that it closes early everyday.

Yelp
This "blink and you'll miss it" spot is definitely a not to miss location! There was lots of traffic coming in to sit as well as take out. The Denver omelet was flavorful and with the hash browns and muffin made for a hearty breakfast. The Belgian waffle was fine perfect and nice and crispy. Don't miss the homemade caramel rolls! Big enough to share and very tasty. Staff was very friendly making sure everything was perfect. We'll be back!

Yelp
I worked here in the 90's I knew Milda and son in law Tom.Great family Xtra great food! Everything is fresh and Tom was the best boss I ever worked for.Really miss this place! Go and see! It's fantastic.

Yelp
8/10 - nice fast friend service. The philly scramble will definitely leave you bloated, but it was 1000% worth it. Also, their food is quite greasy if you're okay with that. P.S. when you're here, you HAVE to get the caramel roll. It's sweet, gooey, and just straight up delicious. Follow me @ hweedafoodie for more reviews!!

Yelp
What a great diner-style breakfast! Our food was homemade and prepared with care. Cinnamon roll was fantastic--could have been shared between 3 or 4 with other breakfast plates. It's huge! Our breakfast plates were great. Omelet and scramble with hashbrowns was just the way we would make at home. Grits were creamy and delicious. Prices were reasonable and diners were a mix of people who came to the neighborhood just to eat at Mildas and folks who lived within walking distance. Wanted to keep this awesome cafe a neighborhood secret, but the good people who work here deserve great reviews and a packed house.

Yelp
A gf and I met for her bday breakfast and she chose Milda's Cafe. It has a convenient location of Glenwood Avenue in North Mpls, a few blocks from Penn Avenue, with business hours of Mon-Fri 6am-3pm. If you don't know the story of Milda's, it's a neighborhood staple. It's been around since1965. The owners lost their lease in the '90s. The neighborhood feared they would close down or re-locate, so regulars and a neighborhood church bought a nearby building to house the diner.. and viola ... you have Milda's today. Pretty nice, right? You walk in and the atmosphere is bustling with people who seem to be regulars and know one another or individuals conducting meetings. I've never been inside Milda's and it was empty... ever. You're usually greeted by a nice woman who allows you to pick your own seat. Tons of window seats to choose from. This particular day, my gf was already seated, so I just joined her in our window booth. Turns out I grew up with our server as kids in BP and hadn't seen each other in about 30 years. Menu is simple breakfast and lunch type menu. The have chicken and waffles available, daily specials, broster chicken and grits. Not just grits, because a lot of restaurants SAY they make grits, but these grits are good. They aren't runny, they are thick and they are made well. Did I say they have good grits? Food: My bestie ordered the denver omlette, grits and coffee and I had eggs hashbrown and sauage patties and ordered some broaster chicken to go for my lunch. (honestly the chicken wasn't as good once it cooled off), but the breakfast was decent and hit the spot. Service: Great service. Attentive. Kind. Personable. Ambiance: Comfortable. Cozy. Clean. Will I return? I always do eventually.

Yelp
great service and charming environment. will have brunch here often as we can! Fast friendly service with large portions.

Yelp
I love Milda's Cafe! Such an absolute classic diner with fantastic food, portions and staff! One of my favorite spots! A hidden gem!
google avatar

Ken A.

Yelp
I came for the broasted chicken. There isn't any. Apparently the COVID prevents them from getting any. They do have wings.so there's that. If I'd known that they didn't have the chicken, I wouldn't have come.

Yelp
Mildas is a great local spot, you can really feel that it's been a family owned business for years. When you arrive, you seat yourself and order directly from the register and they bring your food out to you. Breakfast was so great! We got the philly scramble and the Denver omelette, ate them too fast before I could snap a picture. I can't wait to go back and try a pasty! Service was very friendly.

Yelp
Good food, rude service I just ordered breakfasr through grub hub and I usually pick up but no car today. I called to have turkey and cheese added to my Omelet and the person that answered the phone said she didnt see the order. I tried to explain I had just placed it but it should pop up soon and she said maybe you should just order it yourself and hung up on me. When I called back she said well I told you I dont see your order and I said thst doesn't mean you hang up on people that is rude her response was ok well I dont see your order. Please make it make sense when this is how your staff treats its customers. I am there twice a week but even if I wasnt thats not how you talk to ppl.

Yelp
I went to this restaurant to meet my niece and one of her friends yesterday and really liked it. Nestled in the North Minneapolis neighborhood, it seems to be part of a collective on the corner of 17th and Glenwood Avenue North. The inside is spacious enough, with a good amount of booths and tables from which to choose. The cashier area is not close to when you first walk in, rather it is on the far left side of the cafe. The food is decent and affordable. I a cup of coffee, a side of grits, and a sausage and cheese omelette with half an avocado, and wheat toast. I did season my grits but should have asked for cheese to be added to them. (I am a sucker for cheese grits!) The atmosphere seemed very laid back, and it wasn't busy while we were there. The server was great--on top of our needs and very nice. We did stay right up until closing time, but they didn't press us to leave. All in all, I think this is a place where I would return when given the choice.

Yelp
Saving grace - Hash browns. Not so saving grace. Corned beef hash was made from a can. Kielbasa sausage was a pretty salty version of a hot dog. Little water cups were never refilled.
google avatar

Helena S.

Yelp
Basic breakfast menu of the classics in combos only. So think toast, eggs and corned beef hash. I didn't see a sides menu. They have grits people...and they're good. Bottomless coffee. All made with love and seemingly like from scratch.... such as the pancakes, made by the original owner's recipe. Which by the way are the size of a dinner plate! It's not a cafeteria but the dinning area is old school, kind of a 60s feel. Don't go here if your in a hurry, service is friendly and genuine but not super prompt. I could go 4 stars but I thought that for the price, about like IHOP, I would go 5 stars since I'll be back for sure.

Vivian N.

Yelp
Milda's food is fresh, expertly cooked, and served with kindness. I have been eating here for more than fifty years and have never been disappointed! The rolls are divine, and the buttermilk pancakes are tender. Eggs are the measure of a restaurant, and Milda never fails to cook them perfectly. Waitresses have become friends and the owner is a true professional.
google avatar

Josh K.

Yelp
Milda's is everything you want in a local cafe. The wait staff knew just about everyone that came in, the food was delicious, and it's literally a door with an awning that if you blink, you'll miss. I dropped by with a family member for lunch after having it bookmarked for seemingly ever. Parking wise, street parking available, and a lot in the back of the building. Inside, it's compact but not to the point of giving you that sardines kind of feel. Daily specials and a menu full of the cafe breakfast/lunch normals. I opted for a philly scramble (hash, scrambled eggs, beef, veggies and cheese all stacked) with a short stack. The waitress warned me the cakes were big and I may not be able to finish them all. I looked at my lunch date and we laughed hysterically. I tried making a bet with her that I'd finish it and the meal would be free, but, no take. Damn it. My aunt went with the same scramble, but with ham instead of beef. Very quick wait (top end, 10 minutes) despite a full restaurant at around lunch time, which was great. The scramble didn't need anything at all. No sauces, toppings or anything else. Quite literally picked up my utensil, and dug into that bitch like it owed me money piling bites on top of my rye toast and just wrecking it. It was a fantastic dish. Wasn't greasy, veggies had snap, and weren't soggy. Cheese was melted and provided a different savory flavor to it. Only gripe would be my rye toast being under toasted. I know, those bastards. I did get half of the ham scramble too, which, again, was fantastic. Little more on the salty side with the pork+cheese, but still a great breakfast dish. Onto the pancakes. Were they big? Meh. I've seen bigger. But, they were good. Very good in fact. Syrup less bite produced a solid buttermilk flavor and great texture. Added the syrup, and those little flaps of heaven soaked it up like a champ. They are a bit more doughy than normal cakes, but aren't to the yeast filled level. Very good cakes. Overall, a great experience, and one I'm glad I could share with a breakfast food deprived family member. If you're in the area on a weekday, hit this place up for a great local style cafe breakfast.

Yelp
Milda's is the town cafe in the middle of Near North that you want to go to when you're missing your West Central MN smalltown. There were plenty of open parking spots and tables when we arrived, around noon on a Sunday. The corned beef hash is made from a can, but that's exactly what I was looking for. Topped with an egg and toast, it was like home on a plate. My sister ordered the eggs benedict and it was massive, served with hashbrowns, she could only finish about half. The biscuits and gravy were similar to Waffle House, smothered in gravy. We added a bit of pepper to the gravy, otherwise, everything was great as is. While the prices are more Minneapolis, the food and atmosphere are definitely small town. There was a man waiting for a metro mobility transport that was running late. The waitresses were checking in on him, asking if he needed to use the phone, water, etc. The sense of community was encouraging.

Yelp
We found this little place in a great little neighborhood that has wonderful breakfasts that are delicious!! With all that has gone on this year people need to go and support this little resturant.

Yelp
I just brought a group of senior citizens here for breakfast. We were 10 all together. The restaurant was very clean and cheery. Our waitress was very friendly and the residents were very excited to order off the fairly small menu.our food came quickly and was surprisingly piping hot. Everybody especially enjoyed the crispy hash browns and the generous portions. Even the nearby customers were friendly and chatty. what a great experience for a group of South Minneapolis senior citizens who rarely venture into this part of town.
google avatar

Ashlyn K.

Yelp
Staff was so friendly and even got a chance to talk to the owner. He was really social and funny, making jokes so that my friend and I would laugh. Everyone is very knowledgeable about the menu, substitutions, cost, etc. Food-wise, also excellent. I got the veggie omlet with cheese and it was perfect. I am usually picky with my eggs, but the kitchen staff prepared it well.

Yelp
I ordered exactly what I wanted: Caramel Roll and a side of Bacon. Excellent! Great with friends or solo!

Yelp
I had no idea what to expect from Mildas never been or heard of it. My wife took me there and she said you will love it. The place reminds me of like a lunchroom type setting very diverse. Service is nice they are very busy but it is worth the wait. The coffee is just so good like wow! The food really taste good I was so satisfied with everything that I plan on returning.

Yelp
We recently moved to Golden Valley and have driven by this spot for about a year and always wanted to go to check it out - read many good reviews. Went last Saturday morning about 10:00. All employees were incredibly friendly and had some 80's music playing that they were really getting into - right up my alley. There was only one other table seated at breakfast and the decor is very cold and 80's cafe style. Not old enough to be cool and not nice enough to be hip. Maybe the decor would have been more fun if their was any action in the restaurant - it was just a large cold space. Food was fairly priced, but by no means cheap. Food was OK, not great, not bad, OK. I had a ham and cheese omelet and my lady had corned beef and hash. I liked my omelet by my fiance hated her meal - it looked like a pile of dog food, but she has not ordered that often, so maybe its supposed to look like that. It was fun to check it out and see what is in the neighborhood. We would go back, but not make a point of doing so.

Yelp
I have eaten her twice and they have great food, the customer service was nice. I would suggest trying the grits an the burgers or great too.

Yelp
Visiting from Charleston South Carolina and was pleasantly delighted. I would recommend this place for breakfast while in Minneapolis.
google avatar

Rhonda G.

Yelp
Yelper fanatics read a review and are there the next day. A true home cooking place that gets the basics down pat. I just had a simple roast beef melt that brought new meaning to the word melt. The onions were small and thinly sliced and sauteed to perfection. I just didn't need anything else today. But I will need everything else somewhere along the line. They must not need the money because they would clean up if opened on weekends. Service is great too.

mike g.

Yelp
This neighborhood diner is great. Try their Denver or ham and cheese omelets, delicious! Just the right hearty breakfast to get the day started. They also have daily specials and tasty hash browns with or without onions. Their waitresses are very responsive, although usually busy! This place just feels good. I know I'll be back!
google avatar

Blake C.

Yelp
Great place for breakfast. Very nice staff good food pancakes hash browns (some of the better) in the twin cities. And got to love the story behind the new place.
google avatar

Yelp
I'm a frequent flyer at Milda's. Most timeS the service is pleasant, and consistent. The food arrives to your table as requested ...hot and tasty. There have been, on occasion, where depending on who was in the kitchen, determined what your food would be like. And that's when I would need to boycott and spend my breakfast money elsewhere. Today's service was good. Breakfast arrived to our table as requested. However, upon reviewing my bill, I noticed a gross miscalculation. I was over-charged by over $10.00. Dang! When I brought thIs to the servers attention, all she said was "Oops, I don't know what I was doing." Really!?!! You were attempting to severely cheat me. Was my response. Of course , no apology was offered. And my bill was quickly changed. Please pay attention to your bills at any restaurant. Milda's is a great staple in the neighborhood . However, dishonest employees...will definitely cause your business to fail. Therefore, I'm on another boycott of this establishment.
google avatar

Ben H.

Yelp
Family-owned and operated for two generations, Milda's is a north Minneapolis institution. This is the quintessential neighborhood breakfast and lunch cafe. Breakfast is fine: the standard eggs, pancakes, etc . My favorite lunches would be broasted chicken or the chicken salad sandwich. Burgers are very good too. I love the mix of people who stop by to eat. I'm nice to the staff and they always respond with excellent service. Don't expect nouvelle cuisine here. This is for people like me who love a good old-fashion neighborhood place to eat.
google avatar

Laura B.

Yelp
Perfect local cafe. Went with my husband after the Sulry Loppet and he was able to fill up after his half marathon. I loved that I could get a half waffle added to my order. The staff was super friendly and our coffee mugs were always full. Simple breakfast food, we didn't have any wait though it was just after the morning rush. Will definitely return.
google avatar

Kelly S.

Yelp
I don't know if I could love Milda's any more than I do. Except, maybe, if it were open later and on the weekends so I could take everyone I know there. It's a true neighborhood diner with WONDERFUL people (seriously. the servers are friendly, sweet, and truly lovely people), a great atmosphere, and fantastic diner food. Their patty melts are to die for and so is everything else I've ever tried (meatloaf, mashed potatoes, roast beef). The cinnamon rolls are about the size of your head and look delicious. This is a true Minneapolis gem in NoMi and anytime someone suggests a that we get together for breakfast, lunch, or coffee I immediately suggest Milda's!
google avatar

Nana G.

Yelp
The best breakfast known to human civilization!!! My favorites being the Omelets and French toast.
google avatar

BK J.

Yelp
After doing a good deed this morning I decided to treat myself to breakfast at Milda's. Food and service were on as always. But the big news is that they now accept credit/debit cards (but not AmEx). $5 minimum is reasonable too.
google avatar

Matt O.

Yelp
Quite the classic diner institution. We went for breakfast on a Wednesday, and there were more people there than I was expecting. Cinnamon roll was huge and tasty. I ordered a classic breakfast dish of eggs, hash browns, bacon, and toast. It was exactly as I expected - no frills, just perfectly done and simple. Hoping to go again soon.
google avatar

Ruki R.

Yelp
I'm thinking about going this morning. On my last visit I had the pasty with grits. The pasty was good but dry and bland. I was a bit irritated that gravy, which it really needed, costs extra. The grits are okay but do taste like run-of-the-mill food service grits, kind of like Quaker Oats brand. I like that it's a neighborhood joint and the staff is friendly.
google avatar

Mezzo D.

Yelp
We went here for the first time yesterday, after years of saying we wanted to. It was great--the service was outstanding. We were welcomed warmly, and we watched our server call the regulars by name, and take extra care of them, while making us feel like part of the group. The menu is typical diner/café fare, with a few specialties. We ordered homemade pasty and a hot meatloaf sandwich, with a side of grits. There was lots of brown gravy which was savory and delicious. The meal was extremely hearty. It's the closest thing I've seen to a southern diner, kind of a Scandinavian-Southern-down-home-comfort-food hybrid.
google avatar

Jacob W.

Yelp
Good diner food, even though the owner has changed the pasties remain the same as they are still prepped by the same people. Waitress are seasoned and a bit snarky which is exactly how they should be at this kinda join. Highly recommend their Philly scramble and their biscuits and gravy as well.
google avatar

D B.

Yelp
BAM....had the pasty, crust was close to perfect, gravy was on the mark, Cole slaw was fresh. Service was also very good. I've been here a few times before but never when they were serving the Pasty. This is served only on specific days of the week but well worth it.

Yelp
Would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a really good meal, Breakfast or lunch. Can't wait to go back!
