Where to Drink Astral Margs in Denver | Eater

"Steps from Coors Field, McGregor Square is an event complex that houses the Rally Hotel, condos, restaurants, and retail shops. Inside, you’ll find Milepost Zero, a modern food hall that is the ideal place to hang out before or after the big game. MPZ has a range of food stalls including sushi, pizza, street tacos, and barbecue, but is anchored by its bar that’s a gathering spot for game-goers and diners alike. Their tamarind margarita is a favorite, made with Astral Blanco, tamarind juice, lime, and agave syrup. This slightly spicy, slightly tart, and slightly sweet refresher is the ideal sip for hanging with friends outside on the patio." - Rebecca Treon

This is an awesome place to watch live sports and good beer. Watched the Stanley cup and it was a great match. Good ambience and nice vibes.

Google
Nate and Daniel provided exceptional service. They also make the best Midori Sours in town!

Google
What an awesone spot!! Went there a few times. It's a food court, including a bar, tons of TVs broadcasting sports (watched the world cup matches there). It's neat, spacious, and seasonally decorated (Christmas decorations, inflatable, and table cloths at the time). Tried food from two vendors there, both great. Outside is outstanding! There's an ice rink, tables with heaters, and a GIANT TV also broadcasting the sport's event of the moment (or so I'm guessing, it was world cup soccer matches when we went). Anyway, love this spot!

Google
In town for the Rockies game and staying The Rally, came in earlier today for a daytime bev and met Daniel! 10/10 bartender, gave me super solid recommendations for some lunch in the area and I don’t think my Modelo has ever tasted better. Came back in before the game and started chatting with Nate and Emily who also took incredible care of me. I’m not sure what tasted better, their frozen drink or the tequila shots they were pouring me. Everyone I encountered behind the bar at Milepost Zero was extremely attentive and upbeat. Next time I’m in town I’ll be staying here specifically for the staff and the vibes. Highly recommend.

Google
I am so grateful for Jason and Nate tonight! We came out to watch the Avs game on the Big Screen. Unfortunately, Tom’s Watch Bar had the game playing about 20 seconds ahead of ours. So we knew the Avs scored before we would actually see it. I thought it would be a long shot to ask the guys behind the bar if they could sinc the games so the big screen wouldn’t be delayed. They went out of their way to match both games. It seems like a small favor but it made a huge difference watching the rest of the game! They were so nice! I definitely recommend spending your next time at Mcgregor square visiting these guys for a drink!

Google
I heard there was a new food hall downtown and since I was in the area, I checked it out. Beautiful design. They have a central bar and a a pay by the pour tap wall. Lots of seating. Several different restaurant options. I tried the Atomic Chicken so see their page for my review. It opens up to a large central patio shared by more dining options and shows sports on a giant outdoor screen. They also do live music and show free movies on different days. Cool place to eat and then hang out on the area.

Google
This place sucks. Walked right out of the Rockies game and went to the bar and tried to order a drink at 9:50. Bartender said they’re only serving shots and beer from 10 to 1030 and then they close. I said well it’s 950. And she just shrugged her shoulders. How can a bar in downtown Denver not serve drinks at 9:50 at night on a Saturday?!

Jacob Boxer

Google
The food is great and the outdoor space is really nice. I do wish that they would rotate in some different restaurants though since there are only a handful of them and it can get a little boring visiting the same places each time, even if the food itself is great quality. My biggest issue is the beer wall. It's a fun way to try new breweries, but over the last few months there have been a lot of empty taps. On one recent visit at least half the wall was out. Not sure why this has been the case, but it's disappointing because when all they have available are drinks that you can grab in any supermarket, it doesn't encourage you to stay.

Yelp
Solid lineup of food spots here. BBQ, award winning tacos, pizza, sushi. They have a pour wall of local and domestic beers as well as a full bar with cocktails. Perfect spot to hang out before or after a game. *note you can get $4 draft pints after the 7th inning on Rockies game days. Plenty of seating inside and out for groups.

Yelp
I dig this place. They have gone to town with the decorations which I appreciate even though they have been over the top and extremely gaudy at times. I don't think it does great business because it has been pretty empty for lunch and also many vendors have left. I've seen at least 3 vendors change over during the year I've been coming here regularly. Online ordering via their website has been pretty easy. Pick up has been annoying since most of the stalls, except the hamburger place, make me stand in line to pick up online to go orders. Still happy to have something for lunch in my office building.

Yelp
Milepost Zero is a food hall that is connected to McGregor Square in Downtown Denver. I went on a Saturday around noon and food options are plentiful but hardly anybody in the food hall or employees servicing those food booth locations. Maybe this place gets busy after a game, maybe not.
google avatar

Tarun B.

Yelp
This was a fun place located right in the center of town. We were watching the game at the big screen at McGregor Square and noticed this food hall. They had a variety of food options. The biggest thing was the pour your own draft wall. You could try samples of beer, wine, and seltzer. There is a big Coors Light option available as is the tradition in Denver. Food-wise your options are burgers, sandwiches, pizza, sushi, tacos. Everything is expensive to justify being in a massive food hall as this. I ordered the pizza and it was just okay. This place is mostly fun before or after a game where there are large crowds of people hanging out cheering their favorite team. On a normal day this place is typically empty and not worth the cost.

Yelp
Great area. Excellent selection of foods. Something for everyone! $15 for a bucket of 5 beers in downtown Denver is a great deal.

Yelp
I like Milepost Zero, it's cool. Just wish it wasn't so damn expensive. I think every food hall where business share the space costs by being under one roof always end up MORE expensive. Like, why? You serve yourself drinks and then you automatically have to tip on that regardless if you have any interactions with staff other than swapping your credit card for the drink wall card. And they ALWAYS have stuff that's out! It's quite irritating when you see something you want and it's not available. Especially when 80% of the options are beer and you don't want beer. Other times the beer has come out crappy, too, such as all foamy. Sometimes the staff will help, usually I'd say. But, come we're paying top dollar we should get a good quality drink and pour! Fill the cup with beer for people and fix your keg issues! I'm bordering 3-4 stars but my last time there was pretty good even though they were out of a bunch of non-beer items again.

Yelp
There's a whole food hall inside so if you're visiting this area with picky eaters, there's something for everyone. I came here specifically for the pour your own draft beer wall. This place is so cool! You provide a credit card to the cashier and they exchange you with a beer wall card. It's not prepaid so you pay for what you get. Beer is charged by the ounce and depending on the beer, wine, seltzer, prices will vary. Place the card in its slot then pour as freely or an ounce. My boyfriend and I enjoyed sampling almost the entire wall. There were about 5 taps that were out of order and I wanted to try them all! You just grab a plastic cup and start pulling the lever. Tip: tilt the cup a little to avoid too much head. I ended up with a cup of Nitro C Amber. I really enjoyed this experience and it was fun mixing draft beer with wine, and wine with seltzer. The only gripe I have about this place is that there's an automatic 15% tipping fee which is odd since it's self serve. We didn't about $28 sampling everything, but they charged $50. After speaking with the manager about this discrepancy, he said it's something they have to do and it would charge the correct amount in 2-3 days.

Yelp
This 1 star is for Atomic Chicken and Atomic Chicken only; I haven't tried any other spots in the square. I think my picture says it all. Bland, dry meat, some bites so chewy that I had to spit it out. Just awful chicken tenders. 2x the price of Chick-Fil-A and 1/10th the quality. Sweet potato tots weren't bad, though.

Yelp
This is the kind of spot I live for. A food hall, an outdoor spot and the fun beer wall? There is a proper bar outdoors and the giant screen makes for a fun place to watch games. I found myself wanting to come right back here and I ended up partaking in some vegetarian ramen and taking up some empanadas. Both were really good. I enjoyed a quiet Friday afternoon here chillin in an egg chair outdoors. Not a bad way to spend a beautiful spring day.

Yelp
Milepost Zero is open for business! Even though only half of the food stalls are up and running, this is a welcome addition to LoDo and the new McGregor Square. It's part of McGregor Square, which is literally across the street from Coors Field. It's also within easy walking distance to Ball Arena. This fills a HUGE void in this part of LoDo because there are a lot of sit down restaurants near the stadiums, but a variety of quick serve, affordable food is a little further away than you want it to be before a game or concert. Inside MP0, I had Buona, which is a Chicago Italian beef chain. It was definitely one of the best, if not the best Italian beef I've had in Colorado. I don't care if it's a chain. Every Buona location is in Illinois except for this one, and this is one of the highlights of MP0. Get one dipped with cheese and peppers. It's really a taste of Chicago fast food in Denver. I also had Atomic Chicken, which honestly was not very good. The chicken was over cooked. The flavor was not great. And the bun was extremely refrigerated. This was MP0's second day open, and these guys were not ready for prime time before a Rockies game. Giordano's is open (pizza) and Field Greens (veg food) is also open right now. Soon, ice cream, noodles, coffee, and Little Chingones (Los Chingones, but smaller) will be open as well. While Avanti is more of an incubator food hall with experimental, interesting things, this is more of a chain food hall, and that's ok! They need to appeal to the masses before games and concerts, and there's nothing wrong with that if the food is good. Inside, it's very bright, clean, and comfortable. More inviting than Zeppelin Station and more comfortable than Junction because the many of the seats are padded, which is a questionable decision because they're going to inevitably get super dirty. There's a full bar inside and self-serve taps that are like First Draft. The bar is up and running, but the taps still weren't working yet. My guess is that they'll do everything in their power to have it up and running by All-Star Weekend. While the food is not necessarily the star of this food hall yet, the location and need for this food hall is a HUGE reason why this is still such a great place. With indoor and outdoor seating, it's nice to have more fast casual options for game goers in a lively space that is much more pleasant than eating in the stadium. If you haven't been down to McGregor Square yet, it's time. Once MP0 is fully up and running, this will be a central part of game days and concerts in Denver going forward.

Yelp
This is one of my shorter reviews, so I will get to the point. This is a cool, central spot in McGregor Square with a food court and bar. Four bullets. One, great viewing area for sports. Two, the strawberry rum punch is a solid drink and less sweet than it sounds. Three, they have the most comfortable bar seats like ever. Four, if you get the service of Daniel the bartender, you got lucky. He was great as a person and also as an efficient bartender. Recommend, and see you there.

Kelly K.

Yelp
What a great surprise this food hall was! Bartenders were friendly and made fantastic Moscow Mules! If you're staying at the Rally hotel you get BOGO cocktails. We had pizza and cheese sticks and the slices were huge! Pretty good pizza. The other food offering looked good too. Decent prices. Will definitely be going back!
google avatar

Yelp
False claims about the "35 tap beer wall" - only a handful of taps are actually hooked up. (Don't mention it to the staff, though, or you'll get a very rude response.) Also, despite being a self-service bar, they tack on an automatic 15% "service fee" on top of your bill! (Don't ask the staff about it, though, or you'll get a very rude response.) Plus a 3% "PIF" fee, whatever that is. I'd recommend drinking elsewhere.
google avatar

Stephen P.

Yelp
Who doesn't like a food hall? Several of the food stalls aren't even occupied yet, but there's already a great range of options, all decently priced: chicken to steak sandwiches to poke. Great community style seating options inside, and it feels like it spills right out on the courtyard. And it features a huge bar with good cocktail options. The self-serve beer wall is a great concept, but execution here is a bit shaky. The line to get a card took 15 minutes. ALL of the beers poured somewhere between very and ridiculously foamy. The system didn't indicate beers that were tapped out, and then trying to use too many too quickly led to your card getting locked. And considering the range of choice possible, way too many of them are macros.

Yelp
We were staying at The Rally Hotel for two nights. the first day we stopped at milepost zero and had gyoza and karaage from tora sushi + ramen. really good! Day 1 We also had the Norte empanadas from Crescent Moon. So good we went back a 2nd for the argentine and the birria. the empanada was flaky and delicious and the meat inside of it was so good. kids and i were only going for snacks but we fought over the empanadas. DELICIOUS. Would go again. and again.

Yelp
Austin was the best bartender!! He was a o attentive and personable. Will definitely be back soon!

Yelp
Perfect spot inside McGregor square. Plenty of food and drink options. I didn't get around to trying much of the food places but I look forward to it soon. I DID however use the "BYOB (bring your own bartender)" wall, and it was incredible. It counts up how much you are spending as you pour, and is great for someone as indecisive as me, so I can drink small amounts of multiple beers. It also has quite the selection! Including some faves like Princess Yum Yum, Leinenkugel, Dominga, and Sippin Pretty. The bartenders were super nice and fun to chat with, and the people scattered around seemed stoke to be out during Rockies opening weekend. Look forward to coming back, especially for Rockies games!

Yelp
Met Nate Cass and he made me and my friends feel welcome. Definitely will be a repeat customer! 10/10 this place is great

Yelp
We ventured in on a Saturday night around 7:15pm. There were only 2 food places that were actually open. I was hoping for ramen, but they were closed up. My husband and I ended up at the Taco place. The food was decent, but the service was bad. We felt like we were inconveniencing him by ordering food. I ordered food to go, but was not given any utensils with the food or a lid to the queso dip. The queso was also not warm. The pozole I ordered was really good though. 4 stars for the food, and 2 stars for the service. 3 stars for the ambiance.
google avatar

Natalia S.

Yelp
Live this food hall! Such a great space considering you have the entire huge courtyard in the middle of the block with the enormous TV! Plus the food selection is fantastic: every stand has gluten free options too! Delicious wings (or fried chicken if you eat gluten), burgers and Italian beef sandwiches, salads, sushi, tacos, ramen/pho, and ice cream. What more can you ask for? Oh, there's also a pour-it-yourself wall of beers, wine, and cocktails if you don't feel like going to the bar!
google avatar

Kevin N.

Yelp
Great food hall right ball the baseball stadium! Perfect for grabbing a bite or drink before a game. They've got a ton of great restaurants and a massive beer wall! I highly recommend trying the local beers. Here were some of my favorites while I was there! Atomic Chicken - The sweet potato tots were life changing! The chicken was crispy, but the atomic isn't really that spicy. Little Chingones - Great spot if you're looking for tacos! I definitely recommend the birria. Pulpo Creamery - Delicious ice cream, but I loved getting a shake! You can add toppings in it as well. Tiny GIant Sushi - Delicious and affordable sushi! The Tag Angry roll was a great spicy sushi.

Yelp
The Pour My Beer was truly a rip off. I've been to a number of pour your own places and worked in the hospitality biz so I know how to pour a beer with little to now foam. I paid $9 for this sad Tanqueray Tonic that came out as primarily foam and was really only about 3 sips. THIS was my pour once the foam finally went down. I switched to the cocktail bc my previous pour, a beer, which was also nothing but foam. Hubs had the same experience. The CO2 is completely off on their pours. So we spent $30 for foam.

Yelp
Every time I come to Milepost Zero I have a great time! No matter if it's packed before or after a Rockies game, or on a quiet Monday afternoon, I always love coming here and trying one of the many craft beers, wines, kombucha, or cocktails they have on their PourMyBeer self-pour taps (the margarita is my recent favorite!). I love having the ability to see how much I'm spending in real-time when I pour my own drinks and it makes for such a fun and unique experience. The food they have here is also amazing (a ton of veggie and vegan options, too!), so I would 100% recommend stopping by if you're in the Denver area! Enjoy!

Carly L.

Yelp
McGregor Square is a new addition to downtown directly adjacent to the Colorado Rockies stadium making it a great place to meet up with friends and grab food before heading to the game. Milepost Zero is a food hall offering plenty of different dining options (Fried Chicken, Pizza, Italian Beef sandwiches, Empanadas, Ramen and a self-serve wall of on-tap beers with a full bar too). I ended up getting a Nashville Fried Chicken sandwich with a side of french fries from Atomic Chicken. The fried chicken has great flavor with a nice crunch. The coleslaw was fresh and perfect to top the sandwich with. The French fries were really good as well. McGregor Square has lots of outdoor seating with a giant outdoor plaza screen so now that the weather is warming up, this makes a fun spot to hangout at.

Jonathan L.

Yelp
I'm not sure of the name for the wall of beer. It showed up on my credit card as "TST McGregor Square". I drank $20 worth of beer, then I was expecting another 15%, so maybe $23 but they charged me $83. Really cool setup with a lot of selection. I don't know if they routinely overcharge people, but they certainly got me. They scan your credit card at the beginning, then charge you whatever they want at the end. You never sign anything confirming the charge. Emails and phone calls to them will fall on deaf ears. Good luck disputing it with the credit card company. I think they've figured out that most people will give up since it's only $60. I'd recommend eating at the places within here, but you're taking your chances with the wall of beer.

Eric O.

Yelp
Me and my daughter came here for the dodgers vs rockies on Sunday afternoon. No one was really here, but we stayed to watch the game. We ordered from toro noodles, not that great. We waited 25 mins for our food, no soy sauce, and they made my poke bowl missing some taste. We paid over $38 for two bowls. Next time I'll get pizza. I got the card to buy beer and pour them myself. Well, after your done, you have to leave the card in a basket at the register. What's preventing anyone from grabbing my card and using it????? Very sketchy. I'm sure you can come up with a better system than to place in a basket or have the cashier that is sitting there close it out instantly.
google avatar

Mark P.

Yelp
Who closes before 8pm in peak season? I was enjoying drinks while watching the games then poof... 0 food options available.
google avatar

Kiley M.

Yelp
This spot is the perfect place to bring a group of friends to just hang out and eat/drink. I had the vegetarian Chicago style Italian beef and it was delicious. The people I was with got the real meat Chicago beef, the ramen, and ice cream and all of them said everything was delicious. The atmosphere is super cute as well.

Elisa S.

Yelp
The Asian place with the pole bowls is fire! Really great portion sizes (better than Milk Market poke bowls IMO) for the same price. Why I'm annoyed: tipping at the pour your own beer spot??? - I walked over and grabbed my own cup. - I sat down at a dirty table and wiped it down - I got up each time and poured my own beers - As requested by the establishment, I cleaned up my own dishes and threw away my own trash. I did all of that. Now, I expect to do this at a cafeteria style establishment, but do not auto-tip. No one did anything for me - I didn't even get a receipt. (I asked for it via email). Tipping is getting out of control. You get a tip when you help me. Not when you stand there (for those who think I'm a jerk, I was a waitress and hostess for 5 years).
google avatar

Bri J.

Yelp
Excellent experience here on an afternoon before a Rockies game. We were waiting for our nearby hotel to be ready and a nice, older gentleman eagerly explained how this place worked. We were able to get yummy (and large) salads that were custom made (picture someone going through the salad bar for you). Fresh, tasty, and even provided extra dressing when my friend needed more. Ambience was pleasant and lots of spaces to hang out with friends (probably even more cool right before the game). It is clear the design of this place was thoughtful for pre-game experiences. Bathroom was also clean and nice. I would definitely return.

Matthew P.

Yelp
Literally charged me 31.42 for a double gin and tonic. What flapjack planet are we living on??!! Stick with the dive bars. These hipster new age monstrosities think the way they will find a way to pay off the enormous costs of construction is to make up some fantasy economy, but when I stop back through and they're closed next year we will know this in fact will have caused the opposite outcome they desire. Ridiculous. PS, fear not their cash out process was still quick to suggest a 25% tip.
google avatar

Doctor L.

Yelp
How is there a 10-20 minute line to sell cups for self service beer? This shouldn't take longer than ordering from an actual bartender.
google avatar

Michael M.

Yelp
This system they are trying to utilize is executed extremely poorly. I ordered my food online from one of the vendors, which they encourage to order online. Then when my food was supposed to be ready, I still had to wait in line with everyone who did not order online. There was not a separate online pickup location. Why waste my time ordering online if I still have to wait in the same line? Then my friend ordered from another vendor, and someone else took his food, so he had to wait twice as long while they cooked it again. The Milk Market nearby is a much better run food court. I am got going back to Milepost.

William W.

Yelp
This is a cool space, but save yourself the frustration of getting drinks here and go to literally any other bar if you're drinking beer. The beer wall is extremely expensive considering half of their kegs are usually out, a third are Coors Light/Miller, and the remaining aren't even local. I had three 16oz pours and it was $36! Not sure if that included tip for the staff but considering they just hand you a card, no tip should be required.
google avatar

Anthony W.

Yelp
Avoid the sushi!! Please avoid it for the sake of your stomach. I would have known but for the price I thought it would be quality. Lol my bad..... my bad
google avatar

Christa R.

Yelp
Frozen Rose!!!! And margaritas. In recyclable, aluminum cups. This spot is off to a great start. Super excited for more of the food vendors to open up but that space is welcoming and can accommodate groups of all sizes.
google avatar

Yelp
Awesome Service! Came here for my 50th birthday and the bar staff was amazing! Friendly, generous and cool. Made my night! Thank you!!

Celia B.

Yelp
Love a good ol beer tap wall. Also, LOVE THE NACHOS on the bottom floor. Would fly back to CO just for them

Adam T.

Yelp
Poured 9 oz of pilsner Urquell and 4 oz of a nasty premixed cocktail. Total cost = $37.

Ashlee V.

Yelp
I have visited in busy times and calmer times and the bar seats are always the best seats! Go see Ronnie, he is the best bartender to make your favorite drink and poke fun at the score of the current Broncos game! Can't wait to visit again!!!
google avatar

Fiona B.

Yelp
The outdoor square was a hotspot. Sat at the bar and the bartenders were fabulous and entertaining. The beer tap wall -just okay. Ate in the food court and had the best ever Brussel sprouts from little chingones. The place was a hit! Clean and friendly couch areas. Tons of food choices. You should make it there on a weekend.

Michelle S.

Yelp
I've never had a bad experience until today with rude bartenders. The empanadas restaurant is good so no issues there. Unfortunately I'll probably not patronize this place again.
