Christina Tosi Reveals Her Big Picture Plans For Milk Bar | Eater

"Founded and built by pastry chef Christina Tosi out of a love of baking, this quirky American-style bakery grew from long hours and hands-on learning into a multi-armed business that includes storefronts, e-commerce, weddings, classes and packaged products. The founder has emphasized that scale is not the primary goal — the brand’s spirit relies on discoverable quirks (notably the compost cookie and warm cookies served in a pizza box) — and resisted turning it into an every-block chain. After years of doing every role herself and bootstrapping seven-days-a-week operations, she led a Series A through a parent-company structure to hire higher-level talent, formalize governance with a board, and bring in a major private equity investor while retaining majority ownership. The raise also carved out stakes for early supporters; she stresses preserving the brand’s identity, learning to delegate, and navigating fundraising power dynamics while keeping long-term strategic options (partnerships with big food companies or an IPO among them) on the table." - Amanda Kludt

I went to The Milk Bar in Raleigh on 5/6/25 and had such a great time! The music and vibes were on point, and they even had beer pong, which made the night even more fun. It’s a perfect spot to hang out with friends, kick back, and enjoy the energy. They also have a cool little area to flick up and grab some pics, so it’s definitely Instagram-worthy if that’s your thing. If you’re looking for a chill and fun bar in Raleigh, definitely check this place out—I’ll be back for sure!

Came here because Ale house was way too loud. This place is clearly a college type hang. Decorated for the holidays is fun in a cheesy way. Chelsea is a cool bartender.

Google
We had girls night this weekend and we were charged an extra $5 tip without permission (on both cards). I have noticed that the last couple of visits here the bartenders and atmosphere a bit lackluster to say the least. After this weekend we will not be dropping by and will let other's know to be aware of credit card fraud. Keep the tip!!! You earned it!

I had an amazing night yesterday. They had the hockey watch party going on in the street and my two favorite bartenders Cam and Chelsea were there holding it down at milk bar making sure everybody was getting served and having a great time. These two are great under pressure they make a good duo for sure. Shout out to Rowe and Xavier for not only making sure people are staying out of trouble but also stepping in and assisting the bartenders when needed. I can honestly say that my night couldn’t have gone any better. I will definitely keep coming back here and telling my friends and family all about it. Because in my opinion it is the best social bar on Glenwood. Great drinks, great music, great staff, friendly environment what more can you ask for? -Braulio (240)

We had a private event for my son’s engagement. The Milk Bar is where they had their first date. KP and the amazing staff did an outstanding job! Everything was top notch! I highly recommend this establishment!

Google
Came on a Saturday. I was patiently waiting in line for a drink just like everyone else. I literally didn’t say a word to the bartender (short stocky Latino looking fella). I just smiled everytime he looked my way. For some reason this triggered him into translating that as me rushing him. He comes to me and says “you see this line? That means you wait your turn until I get to you”. I was super confused as to why I was being fed such a foul attitude when I wasn’t rushing anyone. So unfortunate that this establishment hires such rude and unprofessional bartenders. I never went back again.

Google
They don’t even understand how badly they’re in the hole. Is doesn’t take a rocket scientist to understand they’re so deep in the hole under new ownership. And to understand… after years of having young life show up to their bar. That the ones that are funding their whole operation are people that visit on a Monday; Sunday Friday.. so the moment they have criticism they up and get a regular of 4 years picked up out of their seat and bruise them into submission. Next time a regular of 4 years is non confrontational and gets beat up by 5 people. Let them know it’s a premier place to be in DTr.

Visited Milkbar recently during the weekday for a girly catch-up. Heard it was under new management. Very good open airy space, music and service were great. Highly recommend it.

Yelp
While exploring Raleigh we heard live music and stopped into Milk Bar. It was very calm during the day and not over crowded when we went. The staff was welcoming and the table tennis is free. We had fun playing table tennis and listening to music. They do not really serve food but be sure to grab a drink if that's what you're into.

Yelp
Dive bar with live music during the day and dj at night. They have beer bong and couches and a large bar. The music is fun and it's a fun vibe. Cool inside, outside nice with big garage doors.

Yelp
Great new staff! Enjoyed the music and open air set up, both in the afternoon and at night.

Yelp
I feel it's important to share my recent experience. Over the weekend, I attempted to visit Milk Bar with two friends--one white and one Indian. Given that it was Halloween, I was informed that I would need to pay a $20 entry fee because I wasn't in costume, which I consider reasonable. However, just moments earlier, they allowed my white friend to enter without paying or wearing a costume. This blatant double standard cannot be ignored and highlights a concerning pattern.

Yelp
We went here during the day and it has a great indoor/outdoor area. Bartender was great and they served us free popcorn! The drinks were well priced and they had a great selection of cocktails.

Yelp
Stopped by with some friends. The customers and atmosphere was great but the bartenders were horrible. One of them was gracious enough to hold my sweater for me but when I went back to ask for it she wasn't there and one of the bartenders that was literally said "it's not my problem idk where the fuck your sweater is".. it was really rude and unprofessional. It ruined the experience for me since she was so unnecessarily rude.

Yelp
Do not come here if LGBT. Went in a group of 6 and they refused to let in one of my friends because they didn't have sleeves. Three of us who are female presenting had already walked in without any. As soon as my friend trying to get in (male presenting) they were told they violated the dress code. We had no such problem at any other place on Glenwood. This dress code is a way for them to discriminate against who they choose and based on other reviews they use for racist purposes as well. Do not go here.

Yelp
Love the vibe and the crowd here! My boyfriend and I are in our mid-twenties but are slowly getting tired of the late-night party scene. We still love to go out for a few drinks after dinner and have found ourselves at Milk Bar several times now! Located in a good spot, Milk Bar is the perfect bar if you have a similar lifestyle to us. Would I go back? Yes! We first discovered Milk Bar because the band there was playing I Wanna Dance With Somebody while we were walking around after dinner. (I pretty much ran to the line and my boyfriend understood as soon as he heard the song...) Ever since then, we've always walked by just to see if they have live music that night!

Yelp
Milk Bar is the spot that used to be Cashmere and the failed Duel Ultra Nightclub which was aired on Bar Rescue. The name is because the space is located in The Creamery. Our bartender, I believe her name was Jess, was awesome. A few of my favorite cocktails were the Raspberry Collins, Bourbon Smash, Sun-Kissed Ginger and Southside Ricky with strawberries instead of cucumber. Plus, you get complimentary popcorn! Bring coins or cash to play skee ball and pool to pass time. I really enjoyed my experience here and will definitely return.

Yelp
Use to like this place but came in today and no one was in the place not even the bartender. I will admit they just opened but it was weird. The place had a very weird funky smell hubby and I were both put off. I wanted a cocktail because it's my birthday and I was looking at the online menu and the bartender said they no longer make any specialty cocktails and just the basics. Why have a menu if you r not going to abide by it. We walked out.

Yelp
I went to this bar last night. (Saturday night) I actually found this place by mistake. This place is located across from Carolina Ale House. Parking is limited unless you use the parking deck directly across the street. Parking was $10. Now, I'm a 30 something, African American woman out on the town...alone. I was trying to find a nice bar where I would "fit & blend in". When I first walked in I thought I made a mistake. It was packed but it wasn't a scarce crowd either. No worries. I'm just here to drink. The bar has NO bar stools. (Or just not last night). That was a turn off of mine. See, I had planned to sit there, drink, people watch, and listen to music for a couple of hours. That's hard to do with no bar stools. They did have a couple of couches though. They were taken for a good part of the night. I saw some pool tables and games in a corner. I did not partake. There isn't a designated dance floor. You kinda just twerk where you stand. I ordered a cranberry and vodka from Bartender A. About 30 minutes later, I ordered 2 drinks from bartender B. After I was finished, I asked for my bill. Bartender B didn't put my drink from Bartender A. (He probably didn't know I hadn't paid). I got his attention and told him there was still a drink that I needed to pay for. He tells me not to worry about it. Cool. I hung around for awhile and opted to go to Carolina Ale House for a quick bite to eat. I came back to the bar about an hour later. It was PACKED. Totally different experience from a few hours ago. I had to squeeze through the crowd. Patrons at the bar were rude. I'm pretty sure I got bumped and poked atleast 20 times. I'm back with Bartender A. Ordered 2 more drinks. Went to pay my tab and low and behold the "free drink" has reappeared on my bill. I guess Bartender A remembered I hadn't paid. No biggie since I DID try to pay earlier. All in all, I give it 4 stars. It's not the place to go if you just want to sit at the bar and drink and people watch but It served its purpose for my solo night. I'll be back (with friends).

Yelp
We will not be back. Horrible service and ignorant bartenders who don't know how to treat paying customers with respect. My husband was signaling the bartender to get his attention, as one does in a crowded bar. He was being blatantly ignored, so continued raising his hand to get the attention of him, genuinely assuming he didn't see him. Finally the bartender walked over and said "let me give you some advice, you don't need to put your hand up. I see you, you're right in front of my face. What do you want?" Well let me "give some advice" to the management at Milk Bar: hire bartenders who know how to talk to customers with respect. Let your bartenders know that they are paid to wait on customers and patrons. Hire bartenders who understand what it means to work a job that requires customer service. I'm not sure why the bartender felt entitled enough to speak to a customer in that way. He felt the need to assert dominance in a situation where it wasn't necessary. Probably because he's insecure, and this was made very clear last night. You don't want or need bartenders with insecurities that cause them to put customers down. After being talked to in that manner, we denied his service, and left. We will not be back.

Yelp
The bartenders are hot keep up the good work stay milky my friends. PS. It's only cheating if you get caught

Yelp
I'm not sure why Milk Bar doesn't have a higher rating when it's been one of the hottest places to go for a night out in Raleigh for basically the past year. Milk Bar's got everything - pool tables, drink specials, a huge bar, popcorn, and most of all PEOPLE. Every day is busy there, even week days. I'd recommend getting there a bit early on weekends if you're looking to avoid a line. And be sure to wear your best, as you won't be allowed in if you're too grungy. Check out the specials and events, like free games & $5 rosé on Wednesdays or live music on Sundays. The staff here are really great and if you ask nicely, free spicy popcorn is headed your way ;)

Yelp
Great place to go to grab a drink or a few. There isn't a parking lot so you'll have to find street parking or park in the deck directly across the street. Very convenient to everything on Glenwood south. I personally prefer to go earlier in the evening/night or for Sunday funday because the place gets really packed on weekend nights. I mean so packed it's hard to move. They have live music a lot of days during the afternoon and evenings and the DJs are good on the weekend nights. On Sunday's they have a great mimosa special. 1 mimosa is $8, but you can pay $15 and get unlimited mimosas. The set up of the bar is great. The entire front of the bar is actual garage doors that they lift during open hours. Near a lot of restaurants so if you just want to grab a drink after dinner this is a great place to go!

Yelp
I wanna walk you though my experience. I pull up to the bar and ask the security guy if I can park here. he manages to look up from his phone just long enough to tell me I cannot, no advice on where to park or any help at all. I then walk to the door step in and get ID'd, he makes me take a single step back outside the door then grabs my ID with noticable hate. I had been invited by some friends whom I was taking birthday pictures for as I'm a professional photographer. I return with my camera to be told they do not allow cameras. I say every single phone here has a camera, why? (I do film photography) he says no cameras. the end. my friend sees there's an issue and comes to help because I never have conflict. I decide to leave because the guy is such a terrible person, making threats, telling us to watch TNT to see how bad ass he is etc. My friend is prevented from going back in to get our stuff despite having nothing to do with me wanting to bring my camera in, then, once he's allowed in, he comes back with our beers, the guy then assaults him which escalated into a very tense situation. I will say to be fair he stepped outside with two beers, not sure that warranted being tackled and beers flying everywhere but that's what happened before anything was said. my age was insulted incorrectly, my friend and myself threatened, friend assaulted. All over me wanting to bring my bringing a film camera into the bar. The most confusing part being that every phone in the place has a camera. My only advice is to stay far away from this place, especially if you have a camera, you will be assaulted and threatened at the least.

Yelp
I can't believe how disrespectful the bouncers were at this bar. Friends & I were in line to get in Saturday night Dec. 28 being silly w/ our arms around each other and all of a sudden one bouncer says we are too drunk to come in. We were just goofing around. This is crazy that a bouncer decided not to let us in just because we were laughing & having fun in line. I am so disappointed in this establishment. I have been here before and never had an issue. What on earth is this world coming to where a Bouncer thinks he gets to decide who comes in. I think that is very discriminating!
google avatar

Yelp
Yesterday, I (a white male) was allowed into the bar with gym shorts and flip flops. As I walked out, they rejected a black man "because of his clothes". He was wearing some FRESH white Air Force ones and a nice polo with jeans. How does that happen!?!? There is no way he was rejected for his clothes. My group will not support this kind of business, and we will not be returning. Oh, and the The drinks were overpriced too.
google avatar

Markiesa B.

Yelp
Came here last night around 940 and waited in the line outside it was probably about 15-17 people ahead of us and another 15 or so behind us in line. The line was moving slow because they was letting a little in a time while some were coming out. We finally hit the top of the line around 1015 asked what was taking so long and they said they wasn't letting anymore people in. I found that funny since the group ahead of us was white and everyone behind us in line was black except one white couple. My friend had to tell the rest of the people to get out of line because they wasn't letting anyone else in. The bouncer didn't even have the balls to announce it to everyone ,they was gonna have everyone stay in line until 11 which was closing time. Pretty much the whole line decided to leave including us. When we left it was about 5 white people waiting in line. We got word from one of the girls that they eventually let them in shortly after we left. If you ask me I felt we were discriminated against because of our race. They don't ever have to worry about me coming here again, weak ass bouncers can't even be real men to let everyone know they wasn't letting anyone else in.

Allie P.

Yelp
Avoid this place if you're a part of the LGBT community! My friends and I visited on a Saturday night, and we were all allowed inside the bar except for one of us. My friend who was denied entry is a masculine presenting person who was dressed in feminine clothing. The security guard said they weren't allowed in because their shirt had no sleeves, despite the fact that I and 2 of my other friends were wearing strappy dresses also with no sleeves. It was clear there is discrimination in how the security chooses to enforce the so-called dress code here, and according to other reviews, my friend is not the only person this has happened to. I also want to note that the owner has responded to another similar review by saying that this dress code applies to all other clubs on Glenwood, yet milkbar is the only place that did not let us enter. Will never return here and would recommend others to do the same. Blatant discrimination has no place in 2023!

Yelp
When it comes to bars, opinions are super subjective and it really is about the scene at each place. So I was curious to learn more about Milk Bar since it's right down the street from me and I had seen some pics of its great interior. And after two visits I can say I've got a good feel for the place! Located in what historically has been clubs (Dual, Cashmere), the Milk Bar has done things totally different. It's got a modern bar/lounge feel with a pool room in front, roll up gates on the side and a long, classic bar. A skeeball game in back keeps the feeling light here and the place is dog-friendly. They've got the full selection of liquor and a decent choice of beers and cocktails, nothing too fancy. And if I stopped here, Milk Bar would be an easy 4 stars. But... On the flip-side I'm not a fan of Milk Bar given the high volume music they are usually playing. It makes it difficult to have a conversation. The seating is also odd with little groups of love-seats in 3 or 4 clusters and then rail-seating facing the side of the space. The space is not small but doesn't seem well layed out, it has that club seating feel where people should be standing. And given its clubby feel, it draws a clubby crowd. Yeah, you know what I mean. It's really not my scene and not really what I want in a bar or lounge so Milk Bar is a very tough call for me. Some pluses, some minuses and YMMV but for now I'm giving it a solid 3+ stars...
google avatar

Sue B.

Yelp
I would like comment on the unprofessionalism shown this evening as we were enjoying the music of Kyle Spangler and friends when suddenly they were asked to leave. They seemed to be drawing a terrific crowd and people seemed to be enjoying themselves. I will not be patronizing this establishment in the future. Gave them one star only because there was no option for zero!
google avatar

Mikey B.

Yelp
It's a beautiful bar. Right in the midst of all the Downtown Raleigh/Glenwood South traffic. Coxcktails, beer, pool table, skeeball, huge open-air garage door windows....pretty hard to beat. My only hard critique is on the seating. It's very spacious, but this place will pack up fast. Lots of potentially wasted space where seating could go. Unless, of course; they plan on lots floor space for bands and/or dancing. They service is yet to be determined, but good so far.

Yelp
Unfortunately, this seems like a very common theme in the reviews and my experience last night at milk bar was no different. Milk bar has rules set up in their dress code that actively discriminate against certain groups, like Blacks. I would never recommend this place to a friend, family member or colleague and will not be back. I was wearing nice and expensive Oreo black and white retro Air Jordan 5's. For those that are unaware, these shoes cost about $200 online and are stylish. I was approached by one of the bouncers and told I could not get in. I looked inside and people were wearing beat up running shoes and other types of shoes that looked much worse than what I had on. The bouncer told me the reason why I wasn't let in is because "Well, you are wearing Air Jordans and we don't let people in for wearing Jordans". The GM then told me that they make rules to enforce a dress code. This "Dress code" is EXTREMELY casual, allowing for hats, shorts, sneakers, running shoes, etc. Keep in mind that this place is a bar, not a club. They told me that this is how "Raleigh is" "you must not live here" and that every place on Glenwood has the same types of strict rules. I am upset that you have a rigid rule in your dress code that allows you to actively discriminate against a certain group of people who enjoy basketball, street fashion or who might like to wear Jordan tennis shoes. It should be noted to everyone who got this far in the review that I went to 3 other bars later in the night on Glenwood and they all let me in no problem :) Voice of the customer's matters but the GM didn't really care to hear what I had to say. She told me that "business was great" so I guess she didn't mind losing a potential great long-term local Raleigh customer. As a young professional living in Downtown Raleigh and working in the budding tech scene, I enjoyed visiting your bar a few weekends before and I was excited to start the night with our group at Milk Bar but sadly I will not be back. I really hope you take this issue seriously because you are losing a ton of money as a result! Good luck with your investment here and please write back to me when your rules and actions change. -Nick

Yelp
We decided to hit up a new bar on glenwood south and have seen the milk bar for a while so we stepped in on a nice Saturday afternoon. The live music is blaring (in a good way I suppose.. but don't come here for a quiet date!) and there are a couple of pups chilling with their owners inside so the ambience was cool. Unfortunately, that's where the pros end. Cons: no chairs to sit! It's one of those bars where there's only 1 seat for every 3 people that occupy the space. Expect a lot of crowds standing and talking as you try to squeeze your way to the bar or restroom.. Also, the beer took forever to come. We ordered two of their beers that were on tap, but the bartender disappeared to the back and didnt emerge for a good 5 minutes...um...what? Next time I come to glenwood, I'll try another bar..
google avatar

Maria A.

Yelp
I really like this dance bar in Raleigh. If you come earlier during the night you get more the bar ambiance, people standing at the bar and having a drink. Once it gets later in the night and the bar fills up more and more people start to dance until everyone is dancing. The bar also has another room where there is a pool table and the DJ is playing from. The music is a very good selection playing different genres and mostly newer hits. What I particularly like about this club is that they sort of enforce a certain dress code. Meaning, that people are generally dressed nicer and you don't see many shorts, sneakers, base caps etc. Also the patrons are a bit older between their late twenties to their mid thirties. People also seemed to understand their drinking limits as I haven't seen anybody too drunk here yet. The service at the bar is surprisingly fast and the prices are the standard prices on Glenwood.

Yelp
If you ever choose to go here on a Friday/Saturday night some advice, guard you phone with you life! My phone and purse were stolen the first time. The next day I tracked my phone and it said it was there. I spoke with the bartender who was very unhelpful while "looking" around but found nothing. I sat and chatted with her while telling her, I lost my purse with everything in it. Meanwhile, she was going through ID's and Debit cards in front of me. I happened to be watching her go through them and saw her set aside my ID and Debit card. She finally, handed them over to me. While walking out, I had noticed my keys on the side table where the bouncer keeps left items, but no iPhone and no purse. My iPhone has been stolen twice here now. There is definitely someone aggressively stealing people's iPhones. Needless to say I will not be spending my money here. I am spreading the word.
google avatar

James P.

Yelp
I've been here several times. I was denied entry twice based on my attire. pros -great location. -good scenery. -some staff members were very nice. -pretty good drink selection. -clean Cons -Odd/selective dress code. Wouldn't allow us in once because a member in our group had a shirt with cutoff sleeves. Another time, i was allowed in with a tank-top on, but a friend was not. I guess they have a tank-top quota? -too hot and loud. fans blowing and loud music made conversation difficult. Although, I assume this won't be an issue when the weather is nicer? -beer drinks are warm. Probably due to no AC. -some of the staff (bar tenders) were not very polite -pricey.

Abby N.

Yelp
Was denied to enter because my bf was wearing a white shirt, I asked the bouncer why that wasn't allowed cause I'm not familiar with that rule and he was unable to explain why. Then me and my bf went back to our apartment to change his shirt and the same bouncer said we still couldn't get in because of our attitude from before. All I was asking was for an explanation as to why white shirts aren't allowed. I don't think he knew the reason. So this bar can suck my *#%^
google avatar

Katherine L.

Yelp
Wow, never will I try to go here again. The bouncers were discriminatory to exclusively the one black person in our group. They selectively decided to enforce the dress code with him but didn't to others who were coming out and in violation of the dress code. They were also okay letting in my boyfriend who was wearing athletic Nike sneakers but my black friend wearing fashion Jordans (not high tops and suede) wasn't allowed in. They allowed girls wearing tank tops to go in and shamelessly flirted with them in front of us. For a place trying to be "classy", it's one of the most classless places I've seen in NC so far.

James B.

Yelp
These bouncers are straight up racists. They did not let in our African American friend due to his "sneakers" when 5 other white people walked in with similar or less nice shoes (including us). It was 11pm and no one in our group was intoxicated or confrontational. Their rent a cop agreed with their racist assessment and promptly kicked us out for disagreeing with the bouncers. Plain and simple their dress code is not applied uniformly and is intended to discriminate. I would highly recommend boycotting this establishment.

Yelp
College. Kids. Everywhere. The space itself is very well done, but the service and atmosphere is completely lacking, even for Glenwood. I think my brain twitches anytime a friend suggests we stop by after 9pm. All in all, unless you want an overcrowded, slow service and LOUD place, do not bother.

Whodis B.

Yelp
Meh the drinks barely have any liquor in them, the place is really small, and the music kinda sucked in my opinion
google avatar

Cody J.

Yelp
Double charged two separate tabs for the same drinks. My friend and I were going tit for tat on rounds of drinks. In total we ordered 6 shots and maybe 2-3 beers, our combined tab? $158.00. The worst part is we left the bar with our tabs open assuming they would close them with an appropriate 20-25% gratuity added on. It was quite the shocker to find out we each were charged $72 and $86 respectively. I get you're hurting for money with the dope new piano bar opening down the street, but you're going to resort to scamming your own customers out of their cash? Goodluck with that strategy dickheads.

Yelp
Terrible service. I don't know why I would ever choose to come again. My friend ordered a drink for me not knowing I didn't like orange juice. The bartender had an attitude when I brought my drink back. She told me "if you don't like orange juice, next time don't order a tequila sunrise". I will most likely never come back. I felt unwelcomed and uncomfortable, and I am a black female.

Yelp
I have been there once and probably won't return. The bar and floor were very sticky like they hadn't been cleaned in days. The bartenders were too busy with other things to serve us. And the prices for the drinks, once we finally got them, seemed a little to high for the atmosphere. I am also appalled reading some of the other reviews that the doormen are discriminating. Ain't nobody got time for that. Too many other places to go!!!!

Yelp
it is a good bar in town but I would not be a great fan of such a place. not bad but not great either. I have experienced better places.

Yelp
This place is questionable and I will not be supporting the establishment. I witnessed two black men getting rejected because of what they were wearing. One guy was wearing new white shoes and a polo with jeans. The bouncer told him that his clothes were unacceptable for entry which is complete BS bc the group I came with (predominantly white males) were wearing flip flops and gym shorts. Really disappointed in this place since Raleigh is trying build a reputation of diversity and inclusion no matter what background.

Yelp
Couldn't get in because of things my friends did in the past. I told the blonde lady at the door so I'm guilty by association and she said "I don't give a fuck" so because a guy I barley knew that night was in our group and his card got declined I'm not allowed at milk bar because it. So messed up, but she did the same thing to my friend about her clothes were "inappropriate" when she was wearing jeans and a off the shoulder top. Also when I left she told my friends to "pick better friends" would have gave zero stars

Yelp
I brought my cereal here, REAL excited for some milk. This bar does not even have milk. I asked. Skeeball is a full dollar. What is that about? My frosè was grossè and the popcorn tasted like farts. I ate my cereal in the bathroom and left. Petted two dogs tho.

Yelp
The bar was lit. Security was cool. Bartenders were on point and the sounds... Brooklyn approved.

Yelp
The owner is very rude and very unprofessional. I advice you to never go to this place ever. Waste of money. The security is aggressive for no reason or cause. STAY AWAY!!!!

Yelp
Best spot around! Great drinks, vibe is perfect, and staff is super friendly. Garage doors make for inside/outside feel. Perfect for nice days. Live music during the days on the weekend and DJ's at night. Classic cocktails and craft beer. Can't go wrong here.

Yelp
Tonight was a very low key night for Raleigh. Every bar was very mellow and unpopulated. This place has a "dress code"... who do they think they are? This is RALEIGH, NORTH CAROLINA. We were on a work trip with about 30 people and the bouncers AND THE MANAGER proceeded to reject one of our individuals because he was wearing a simple white tshirt/vneck. May I remind you he is a military veteran and this arrogant manager still decided to deny this war hero. It was absolutely ridiculous. The milk bar is no special bar and they made a fool of themselves and lost our business for all of our business trips to Raleigh. I need to remind the manager how liquid all of us are and you missed out on $$$$$$. Sorry. Bai.

Yelp
We were just ready for a fun night out with friends and we ubered straight to Milk Bar. Our Uber driver happened to know my friends father who just passed away unexpectedly which made us all a bit somber. It brought tears to my friends eyes and the bouncers laughed at him crying and accused him of being drunk and kicked him out. They proceeded to laugh at him. I understand being safe because a lot of people get too drunk at this bar, but laughing at the death of someone's father is the most awful thing someone could do. This bar is absolute trash.

Yelp
This place has been packed since it opened, so obviously someone likes it? The space is really nicely done, and the garage doors are a fun addition, unfortunately my praise ends there. Oh wait, my husband does like the complimentary popcorn! It's LOUD. Like really loud. Like can't hear the person sitting right next to you loud. The floors are sticky. The bar top is filthy. I will say we have always received prompt and friendly service. Maybe we're just too old to appreciate this scene any more? Sigh.

Yelp
If you like discrimination, head to Milk Bar! Please see Katherine L.'s review because the exact same thing happened to my friends and I on Friday 10/21/16. My friend and I, both white females, were ahead of our group and walked in to get drinks. My male friend, white, came in and said the bouncer won't let other male friend in, black because he was wearing red. I look around and there are about 30 white males in the bar with red NC State gear on. My friend, black, was wearing a red Cornell shirt. Cornell, his alma mater, Ivy League. When the bouncer was questioned by Cornell's white friends, we were quickly dismissed and were told "...Don't play the race card." This bar is GARBAGE. The staff are disgusting and they should be ashamed to be part of the amazing Raleigh bar/restaurant scene.

Yelp
Very rude bartenders, I wouldn't recommend this bar to anyone. There are better cocktails on Glenwood with bartenders who don't look miserable to be there and give better service. I would suggest going to C Grace across the street or Clockwork.

Yelp
I was denied access to the bar for my "athletic shoe," which happened to be Maison Margiela trainers. As I walked by the open bar area I saw New Balances & Chuck Taylors. Never going back.
