On a rainy Thursday afternoon, my partner and I finally had the chance to try out the sandos here and they lived up to the hype. This place is really highly acclaimed and understandably so. The vibes in here are great and the decor is just the right amount of quirky. The food was also fantastic. We ordered the Japanese egg sando and the longanisa breakfast sando as well. Both were great with a lot of flavor and the shokupan bread was so nice and soft. I’d definitely come back to this place to try some of their other options as everything we tried was awesome. Just beware they do sell out of stuff quickly. They literally have their sold out signs ready to go right by the menu board. It can also be really tough to get a table as they have a very small space.

Very cute and cozy little place! Incredible egg and fruit Sandos, probably the best in Bay Area! The milk bread is pillowy soft and the cream inside is light and velvety with freshness of the fruit! It makes a perfect breakfast spot! They also have some good drinks and more baked goods, which I will definitely be back to try!

Cozy little cafe with delicious food, baked goods, and drinks! I tried this place out on a whim and wasn't disappointed at all. I got a Japanese egg salad sandwich and a hash brown and both were fresh and delicious. The egg salad sandwich was made using their freshly baked shokupan and had the perfect ratio of filling to bread with the perfect texture. The egg salad was topped with a soft boiled egg which made the sandwich even better. The hash brown was very crispy, fresh, and pretty large. The staff are all really friendly and the cafe is clean and well kept. It gets quite busy during brunch/lunch time but service is still pretty efficient. They have quite a few things on their menu so I'll definitely be back to try them out!

I’d had this bakery saved for a while and finally decided to stop by when we were craving something sweet. The line was very long, and the ordering process moved slowly, but everything looked so fresh that we decided to wait it out. We picked up a whole loaf of their fresh bread — one of the last few available — and it was absolutely worth it! I also ordered the fruit sando with strawberries and whipped cream, which was light, fresh, and delicious. We asked the staff for drink recommendations and ended up trying the Kyobancha Iced Tea and the Sweet Yuzu Tea — both were refreshing and perfectly balanced. I’d love to return to try their breakfast sandwiches and pies next time. Just a heads-up: this place gets quite busy on Saturdays, so visiting on a weekday might be a better option if you want to avoid the line that often stretches out the door. Parking can be tricky since it’s located in the middle of downtown — there’s no parking directly in front of the bakery, but there are metered spots about a block away in either direction.

Google
Phenomenal milk bread sandos! Probably some of the best in the Bay Area. Bread is super fluffy and soft. The sandos themselves are delightful and packed with flavor - they’re also substantial enough to keep you full all afternoon! The chicken salad one was very refreshing and fresh tasting, while the breakfast ones (with and without the sausage) were a savory, comforting bite. Egg salad sando was also great with a good balance of textures between the egg and egg salad, bonus points for not being too salty too. Was quite busy on a Saturday around lunch but still managed to snag a couple table for a fairly large group. Staff were super helpful with making sure we weren’t blocking the way and offering additional stools as well. Also, love that despite the busyness the staff member taking orders still took the time for a little chitchat and was mentioning to me how great the neighboring businesses are - such a green flag!

Google
ooo Oh yeah this place was gas !!!!!!! spent $100.. but worth it! EXPERIENCE: we came in 11am saturday on labor day weekend and thankfully came right before the noon rush bc woww that line was out the door after we ordered. Parked like a 1min walk away in the ParkSJ garage, free for 90 min. Our entire stay (we ate inside too) was about 1 hr, so didnt have to pay. As soon as we stepped inside, we were surprised at how warm and inviting it felt. Great atmosphere and decor. Super cool that the menu was inspired by the owner’s child/children, loved the baby pictures on the wall. After we ordered, we were lucky to immediately find an open table. The wait wasnt that long for the food + drinks. We ordered take out but ended up eating inside! They do have proper plates if you order dine-in. STAFF: patient and helpful! the tall guy who took our order was patient while we floundered around with our order and answered our questions about the menu as much as he can. Didnt rush us even though there was a line behind us, and lightheartedly laughed with us when I balked at the total price. the guy with the cool piercings who gave us our order was really nice too! in our big order there was only 1 mistake, which was that the iced matcha cloud had normal matcha foam instead of the turon cream that we replaced it with when ordering. the guy took the drink back and fixed it immediately and fast which was great! FOOD: Wow. Umm so good yeah. Please look at the pictures, but the pictures dont do it justice. We got: Fruit sando Longanisa sando Avocado toast Potato tostones Iced yuzu sweet tea Iced matcha cloud with turon cream Iced dirty hojicha latte with peanut butter cream Ube scone Pandan mochi cake Hojicha polvoron …you can see how I spent $100 now. Technically for 3 people, me and my cousin just ate our share in the bakery. Everything was so good and I love all the filipino flavors and fusions. Fruit sando - had strawberries, so light, fluffy, brings out the softness of the shokupan, toasted almonds on the sides make it amazing. 10/10 Longanisa sando - filling, stacked with eggs, longanisa with cheese is new to me but still good, missing a kick, added hot sauce from the bar and it got even better. 7.5/10 no hotsauce 9/10 hotsauced. Avocado toast - i didnt try this one, it was for my girlfriend. But she said it was good! 10/10 Potato tostones - 10/10/10/10!!! so crunchy, crispy, so many packed into one box, soft on the inside. Even better hotsauced. 10/10 no hotsauce 11/10 hotsauced. Iced yuzu sweet tea - sweet, not overwelmingly acidic, like a splash of lemon! 10/10 Iced matcha cloud with turon cream - Literally like a banana cream matcha latte, but smoother, creamier. Really yum, but my cousin didnt finish it. 9/10. Iced dirty hojicha latte with peanut butter cream - I had no problem finishing this. Dirty hojichas are my favorite drink and I was happy to see this on the menu. The peanut butter cream made it even better to me, it was rich and heavy, but I get if some people arent a fan. 10/10/10 coming back for it. Ube scone Pandan mochi cake Hojicha polvoron I cant fairly rate the pastries because I let them sit and tried them end of day, and the mochi made the other two soft. But they were still good and I want to try them again one day! Pandan mochi cake is definitely #1 for now. OVERALL: awesome!!! cool place ! great food! i want to get the classic shokupan next time but they were sold out by 11am 😢 anyways Im coming back for you milk belly……

Must go! If you’re nostalgic for a Japanese egg sando, you must stop by here. The fluffy egg salad along with the cloud-like milk bread, brings you straight back to Japan! Not only that, everything else here is so good. This spot is more than just bread, they have awesome sandwiches, pastries, and range of drinks. We also tried the Lox No Bagel with the Sesame bread. The sandwich was juicy with fresh veggies that complements the lox. The bread was so moist and soft even after it was nicely browned on the flat top. It was flavorful yet healthy. Then the spam ham egg was as pleasing as it sounds. Hits the spot. The Vietnamese coffee was like a treat (creamy with a gentle punch of roasty coffee). Can’t wait to come back! Extra kudos to the staff and owner. They were so kind even as busy as they were. Attentive to tables and guests!

Google
That ube scone is INSANE - as was the mochi! The chicken salad is crazy refreshing, bright and flavorful, and all the breakfast Sando’s are so SO good. All the bread was so fresh and soft, the baked goods superb, the strawberry Sando was super delicate and gently sweet. All the food here was amazing Incredible gem of a spot 🪻🪻🪻

Yelp
- found parking nearby in a garage that offers the first 90 min free! - the atmosphere of the whole place is so cozy and cute with Ghibli posters and miniatures decorating the interior - they offer some desserts like scones and cakes in the pastry case (1) longanisa sandwich ($15.03): the egg was so fluffy and hearty in this sandwich! I noticed that they sell the bread used in this sandwich, it tasted like a soft milk bread. The longanisa was a small strip and had a sweet sauce coating it. It was slightly too sweet for my liking and I felt that the egg overpowered it. - overall a solid sandwich and super packed for the price! I would love to come back and try their other menu items :)

Yelp
Cute cafe in downtown San Jose. The nearby parking structure on 25 S Third Street has free parking for the first 90 minutes! We tried quite a few items: 1. Uber cream scone 5/5 This scone was surprisingly light and fluffy. One of the best scones I've ever had! The icing on top is very thin and overall it has a good ube flavor. Not too sweet 2. Japanese egg salad sandwich 4.5/5 Very light yet creamy. Very reminiscent of Japan. The bread was so soft and pillowy 3. Loganisa sandwich 4.5/5 This felt more filling than the egg salad sandwich. They toast the bread and the homemade Loganisa was sweet yet savory 4. Ham and Brie toast 4/5 I got this on sesame sourdough which had a nice texture and flavor. The Brie was a tad thick for my preference

Yelp
Chasing the hype and ordered a Japanese Egg Sando and Smoked Salmon toast a few weeks ago. I don't remember much about it but it tasted decent, however I felt it was way over priced. They definitely do use premium ingredients though which I'm sure attributes to the price. $30 something for those two items, and it wasn't even enough to fill us up. Had to stop by next door to grab a few pastries. I think it's good to try once but I see no reason for me to come back!

Yelp
I have know about Milk Belly for a while now. Since they were just going to farmer's markets, I have followed them in my socials to see what they doing. I was so happy to hear they got a brick and mortar in San Jose! Close to me yay! The bakery/restaurant looks small in front, but they actually got to fit plenty of tables and chairs without it feeling super crowded. I love the aesthetics of the place. You order on the front, find a seat, and they call your name and order to be picked up at the counter. We tried a couple things in our visit. The sandos and some pastries. I really love their milk bread and tamago sando. If this place was even closer to me I would go here just to get those all the time. The other pastries were good too, I think they were not made by them but by another bakery. Highly recommend this place. Also, parking can be difficult, only street parking and parking garages (located in downtown SJ).

Yelp
Sandwiches are larger portion, must add their house chili oil if you like spice! Waited in line for about 15-20 mins Food took 15-20 mins Egg Sando: creamy and filling! Custom sand which: delicious would come again!
google avatar

Yelp
Line can be long if you come later. Bring a jacket just in case you are in the element as the line continues outside. Their breakfast sandos are delicious! It's quite healthy in terms of volumes so be sure to share with someone. Adding the hot sauce really enhances the flavor. It's not crazy hot so try it out. Inside is a bit small and has limited seating areas. You can also sit at the bar in the back to watch them in action. Great place for morning bites and sips. Can't wait to visit them again.

Yelp
I had this spot at the top of my list and found out recently I've passed by it so many times... so finally visited Milk Belly and I'm hooked - so much that I was craving it and went back recently. Somewhat open kitchen concept so you can see them prepare if you're in the bar area. Good amount of seating to eat with a small group of friends. Line gets long but service is quick! To-go does take a bit longer if you have a bigger order. I've tried a variety of egg sandos and some baked goods. My favorite has been the longanisa egg sando! Fluffy egg with Filipino pork sausage patty was the perfect combo. The first time I came with a friend, we dined in and they had this spicy green lemongrass chili sauce that was kind of sweet and def had a kick. Really good with the sandwiches! They also have a seasonal smash burger sando which is essentially well seasoned burger patties in their delicious bread. There's also a lemongrass (?) sauce that goes so well with the patties. We tried some of their smaller baked items like guava butter mochi and shio pan - salt bread, both were realllllyyy good! Will come back and have to try their toasts - maybe the salmon one or HK toast :)

Yelp
4.5 stars Love this place. The Vietnamese coffee mochi is the bomb. So flavorful. Not too sweet. Just the right texture. My 6yo daughter approves. She also loved the salted Japanese bread. I thought it was a bit dry. We also got the 1/2 baguette because they sold out of the full size ones. It's solid but doesn't compare with ones from mademoiselle collete or the ones from Paris. Only suggestion: it would be great to have hot drinks here to go with the pastries. They only have cold drinks.

Yelp
This may be worth the trek through downtown sj:') Shokupan was 10/10 - perfect to bring home for toast. The egg sando was so good and not too much mayo at all. The staff here are very warm and friendly, and there are a few seats inside. The sourdough was sold out by around 9:30am on a saturday - perhaps because it was the day after a holiday.

Yelp
We visited Milk Belly two weeks in a row to make sure it was that good. We tried the Avocado toast, Japanese Breakfast Sando, Longanisa Sando, Egg Salad Sando, hash brown, butter mochi, pandan mochi, Ube scone, dirty hojicha, matcha cloud latte. Everything was delicious both weeks. The kitchen was busy but they are consistent. The store is a narrow space with exposed brick walls and dining area was along the wall facing the open kitchen area. It was nice to watch how the staff all worked together from orders, prepping, and pushing orders through.

Yelp
I finally got to visit and try the shokupan milk bread here. Parking was tough. There's limited street parking if you're lucky, and a parking garage nearby. There was a short line I arrived. I ordered a couple of shokupan loaves for myself and to share. They smelled so good. The bread is slightly sweet and soft and fluffy on the inside.

Yelp
AMAZING. Finally got to try Milk Belly! Arrived around 10am on a Saturday morning and thankfully there was not a long line - ordered the japanese sando, longanisa sando, potatoes and 3 drinks : matcha, calamansi spritz, and vietnamese coffee. Drinks came out less than 10 minutes after ordering and the food is made to order so it took while but all worth it. There is seating available inside and a small bar top area to fit a few people. The japanese sando reminded my husband and I of the ones we ate in Japan but even better, would definitely recommend. The longanisa sando was great, we liked that the longanisa was like a patty and paired well with the cheese and eggs and spread. The bread used for both sandwiches were delicious! Our favorite thing was the potatoes, so crispy and so flavorful! I enjoyed the matcha drink, my husband liked both the calamansi and vietnamese coffee drinks! Would definitely recommend this bakery and I want to go back again and get more of their baked goodies!

Yelp
To die for. Egg salad was amazing and I got a loaf to take home. I wish I was closer so I could get this every week. Also tried a donut, which I recommend.

Yelp
These spots like Milk Belly are exactly the kind of spots Downtown San José needs to for a great revival! Locally owned, unique to the area, and exceptional menu. Everything I've tried here is super amazing! Breakfast sando, egg sando, their pastry items, house milk tea - literally everything. I'm not a big egg sando girlie BUT I've tried bites of others' sandos and I think Milk Belly does a great job at it. I love the Hong Kong Milk Toast but I can only eat half at a time. I've visited for lunch on weekdays and the wait from getting in line to order to receiving the order is usually never more than 15-20 minutes, but weekends have exceeded 1 hour. Definitely want to account for that. There's free 90 minute parking at the numerous ParkSJ garages nearby which is usually long enough if you're doing grab and go. There are a few tables and barstools inside but a backup plan could be helpful.

Yelp
Amazing eats and the friendliest service! Milk belly offers a good variety of breads, sweets and savory dishes. I personally am a huge fan of the Smoked Salmon Toast. A nice helping of smoked salmon atop a thick slice of sourdough. Always hits the spot! 10/10 The egg tart pie is also a personal favorite, and a family favorite as well. You can preorder a nice big egg tart pie for a family party or just buy a slice for yourself! 10/10 Parking is limited, there is street parking around the area if you are lucky. There are a couple of garages nearby, some are marked as Park SJ, where first 90 mins are free. I've always parked at San Pedro and took a short walk over.

Yelp
My friend and I tried milk belly. I'm so happy they have a brick and mortar now. I tried the Japanese egg sandwich. The bread was so soft! I also got the Shio pan bread. It was good! We went on a Thursday for lunch and there was maybe like three people in line in front of us. I was able to find street parking nearby. I definitely want to come back and try other items on the menu.

Yelp
If you have never had a Japanese egg salad sandwich, look no further because this is the place to go! The flavor? Divine. The egg filling is super creamy, and the salted butter on the pillowy bread adds the perfect touch. Honestly, it's just as tasty as the egg sando I had in Japan. My friend (connoisseur of egg sandos) was literally eating this with sparkling eyes. We also tried the Longaniza sandwich, which was really tasty as well. The sausage was slightly spiced and super savory, which worked really well with the fluffy egg. Also had the Strawberry sando, which I think had a slightly denser bread compared to the egg sando. Cream was fresh, and it was pretty good. We tried the Ube scone last, which didn't have an ube flavor. It tasted like a normal scone, and it wasn't dry inside. Enjoyed the experience and would definitely recommend grabbing some sandos if you're in the area!

Yelp
Came at noon on a Saturday and there was a line. It took 45 mins to order and get our food. Seating is self-serve and you bus your own dishes at the end. We tried the breakfast sando and the spam, ham, and egg sando. They were both delicious. We also bought a loaf of shokupan to make our own sandos at home; the bread is so pillowy delicious. I'd definitely come back again to buy more bread, and I'd love to try their pies.

Yelp
I really enjoyed Milk Belly. You walk up and place your order. Menu isn't huge but they have some great options. It makes me want to come back and try everything. Fresh baked pastry and breads. Guava Mochi- 10/10 Spam, Ham and egg breakfast sandwich 10/10 Lox with no bagel- 10/10 Loved it and would come back. Limited seats and it gets busy after 10am, line was out the door.

Yelp
I got to do something that I never get to do: visit a place I love on a late Saturday morning. Usually I'm slaving away helping customers at my job, but a hiccup in vacation plans allowed a staycation and opportunity to enjoy the city like all the 9 to 5-ers I watch enjoying that corporate life. First of all, the line was out of the door when I arrived. So I suggest PATIENCE when you come during a busy time. It took me roughly 40 minutes to get through the line and order. But, I made a lovely buddy in line: 4 year old Levi who helped me see the store through a fresh set of eyes. His mother was kind to educate me about a Daruma doll placed right next to the register. The entire philosophy was so wonderful to hear as explained to her son, and it did not fall on deaf ears. I was astonished to see that only a few items were sold out by noon. I'd expected limited pickings on such a busy day. But here is where the real magic was: watching the tight orchestration of the staff put together every whim and desire expressed by each customer's order. It was like seeing your favorite band rehearse before a live audience. The precision, the efficiency, the fast turnover was an instant dopamine high to this foodie. I tried not to gawk too much, and take up too much space to attempt to capture it on my personal camera. But here was my disappointment. I ordered the potatoes that were like CRACK-ishly delicious the first visit, and this time around, they lacked that crispy, crunch that I experienced on my first visit. My specialty toast was also not super crunchy. And the smoked salmon toast also didn't have much textural contrast, as the bread just didn't hold up to the toppings. That being said, that Hong Kong style toast was just as lovely as I remembered it, and I didn't even get to try the breakfast sando, because my beau devoured the hearty treat like it was a melting ice cream cone. This trip had a price tag of $70 for a breakfast for 2. Would I do it again? Let's be honest, yes...but I'd probably wait to return on a Thursday late morning. Take that advice for what it's worth to you.

Yelp
I saw this place made unique milk bread Sandos and knew I had to try it. Longanisa Sandwich (5/5): This milk sando comes with a Pilipino meat patty, cheese, egg, and mayo. I thought it had a delicates balance of flavor. The patty was a bit spicy, but not too spicy. The spicy news was balanced with mayo and egg. Overall I recommend this place a try.

Yelp
Their sandwiches are delicious! Flavorful! Tried their egg sandwich and their ham, cheese and egg sandwich! We just had their pumpkin pie and it was delicious. The crust was really good too. I normally don't like pumpkin pie, and this was really good. I want to try their HK style egg custard pie next!

Yelp
I understand the hype now. The bread here is soooo soft and pillowy. I got the ham&brie which came w some seasonal pears on top of a sourdough and it was so good. The pear perfectly pairs (ahaha) with the brie and prosciutto and I think there was a little bit of honey. What shook me the most was the bread - i just love how soft it was compared to other sourdoughs I've had from farmer markets and stores. The milk bread is also a delight- I got a whole loaf and made some garlic bread with it and it was very yummy! This place is def a treat as it's a bit pricey but it was worth a try. Def if you love bread you should try this place!

Yelp
This place is in downtown San Jose and there's street parking but I highly recommend park at a garage (first hour or something free) and walk 3 minutes to find the bakery. It gets really crowded after 12PM on a weekend. My friend and I went in at opening on Saturday morning and line was still short. Indoors is cutely decorated, with studio ghibli and trinket items around the entrance. It was nice to look at. There is seating inside too. Workers are on their feet and pretty busy out front. I got the egg sando and strawberry sando. Both breads were so good and light, the fillings were the main part of the flavor. Some places use thick bread for sandos, but Milk Belly stood out by using milk, soft, bread. The egg sando was delicious. Their house-made spicy sauce was so good too!!! Definitely bring it to-go and enjoy with the egg sando.

Yelp
Finally checked out Milk Belly Bakery on Santa Clara Street and wow--now I totally get the hype. No surprise there's always a line out front (especially in the mornings). I showed up around 10am on a Saturday and there were already six people ahead of me, so peak hour vibes for sure. I grabbed the Spam, Ham & Egg sando, the Longaniza sando, the Japanese Egg Salad sando, a loaf of Shokupan, and a Vietnamese iced coffee. Every single bite was a win. The Spam, Ham & Egg had this addictive sauce that made it impossible to set down--I demolished that one immediately. The Vietnamese coffee was perfectly balanced (sweet enough but not overpowering), even for a tea drinker like me. And the shokupan? Soft, fluffy, and gone in no time--so glad I snagged one before they sold out. Even though the line looked intimidating, the team kept things moving and our order came out pretty quick. The tropical-inspired decor makes it feel bright and fun, and the whole place has an easygoing, casual vibe. Totally get why people rave about this spot--already planning my return trip to try more breakfast sandos and drinks. Highly recommend!

Yelp
You bread my mind! Ordered: - Egg salad sandwich - Smash sando - Pandan butter mochi - Speciality Sourdough (Black Sesame) Experience (5/5 stars): *Food: Egg sando was creamy and soft. Smash sando was flavorful with the onion jam and herb aioli. The black sesame specialty sourdough had great texture. *Price: spent around ~$50 Overall, I want to come back to try their breakfast sandwich and viet coffee!

Yelp
Been supporting this business since they used to be a ghost kitchen. It's exciting to see they got their own place now. Always was a big fan of their potato tostones and Hong Kong toast, highly recommend trying those two. Service: they're attentive and friendly Ambiance: it's a homey chill place Smash sando $13 (5/5): 2 patties cheese burger with onion jam and herb aioli. It's been a while since I've tasted a creative well thought out flavors in a burger. I'm usually not a big fan of jam since they're sweet but this was more on the savory side. It's nice to know they make their bread in house. Would recommend getting lunch or breakfast here while in DTSJ.

Yelp
I WILL BE BACK. We arrived a bit late to their opening time and they were sold out of one of their breads, but omg all of the menu items sounded delicious. They also had another local business patisserie (songbird) popup that day with some yummy pastries. It was busy in there. The line moved quickly. The place is small, cozy. They have sitting inside (tables and bar) but it was full. As we were waiting for our order, we were able to snag a booth. It's an open kitchen, which you're able to see the team making some of the food. The one thing we wanted to order but couldn't because we had ate already was the japenese egg sando. We did order their famous shokupan, cherry pistachio cream scone (to die for!!!), and their cold foam matcha. From songbird, we ordered the banana cream and honey butter chocolate crossiants, WOW. Everything was delicious, except the matcha cold foam was okay. I also think because it had whole milk, which I forgot to order oat milk. I would give it another try with different milk. I can't wait to be back in SJ just to come here and try their sandos and more!

Yelp
Tip: No street parking in front of the store, so you must park on the surrounding streets, which are metered. With that said, I parked on San Fernando & paid for 52 minutes. I got back to my car with 10 minutes to spare. It wasn't too busy in the store; however, there were several pick up orders. All were hard at work trying to bust out orders as quickly as possible. I admire that; shows they strive to deliver quality food, along with proper presentation. I waited for 30 minutes for my order: 2 Japanese Egg sandos - they were delish! The egg spread was creamy & I loved that there was an actual egg, too. 2 Fruit sandos - the strawberries were sweet & the cream was not too sweet. 1 full Shokupan - it was way too dense for our liking. It my first time ordering so I didn't know what to expect. I wouldn't order it again. I like my bread bouncy and light. 1 Salted Duck Egg mochi - I wish it had more salt for the flavor profile. 1 Pandan mochi - the pandan flavor was light. *The bread for the sandos was the Shokupan, which held up nicely for the Egg sando. But, I didn't enjoy it for the Fruit sando or on its own.

Yelp
First time going to milk belly on a weekday. My friends from barry's recommended such a bakery to try out all the Asian delicacies. The service was super good, they made great recommendations as to what pastries were left over from that day The ambience was a sit down café to enjoy a sandwich or a pastry

Yelp
That bread! It's like a pillowy-soft hug. Not too bready, juuuust right! I've made Japanese Egg Sandos at home so I think I'm a harsh judge, but the bread and that center egg are way better than I could ever do. Fully worth the price. It's also a deceivingly large portion. I couldn't finish and was able to take home left overs! Can't wait to get hungry again to eat it. We ordered the Lemongrass chicken sandwich and inhaled the whole thing. Really yummy flavor combinations. The veggies are refreshing and don't make you feel like you ate something too heavy/unhealthy. Next time I'm going to order a loaf to bring home!

Yelp
Finally got to try this place after the hype has died down a bit. There's ALWAYS a line. We came on a friday and there was line out the door with about a 30-40 minute wait. We tried the fruit sando and the longonisa sando. The bread had a nice fluffy texture with slight sweetness. It tasted good but personally not enough for me to wait in line for everyday. The bread loaves are very yummy and they offer other pastries that are seasonal.

Yelp
We visited months ago -- they were very busy and for good reason. We enjoyed their ube dessert and coffee pop up. The dessert was mochi and very tasty. The pandan latte we had through their pop up was great! Decent amount of seating and brunch options too.

Yelp
Tried Milk Belly in San Jose and had a mixed but overall tasty experience. The savory sandwich (mine had egg & cheese) was satisfying--crispy edges, gooey center, and nicely balanced flavors. The HK-style milk bread with condensed milk, though? Meh. Looked promising but ended up kind of bland and soggy--more hype than flavor. But the Nutella milk bread totally redeemed things--warm, fluffy, rich with hazelnut goodness. Definitely the star of the show! Cute spot, friendly staff, and worth a visit if you're craving cozy carbs.

Yelp
I came on a Saturday 20 minutes after opening and it took a total of 1 hour to order and get my items to-go. After stepping out, I realized they forgot one of my items so I had to return for the staff to prepare it. It seemed like a hectic morning as all the staff were busily working, but they were very friendly. I enjoyed the lemongrass chicken salad best because the flavor was light and the pickled veggies had a nice crunch. However, there isn't much of a lemongrass flavor to it. The Japanese egg salad sando was also really nice and creamy & paired well with the fluffy bread. My favorite part of the longanisa sando was the fluffy egg. Also, the potato tostones were great when I dipped them in salt. As for sweets, loved the butter mochi, especially the guava one! I am curious about other items on the menu, but the wait makes me hesitate.

Yelp
I'm so happy Milk Belly finally has their own brick and mortar shop! It's a much deserved upgrade from the ghost kitchen with a chaotic pick up area. The storefront is unassuming and can be easily missed if you don't see the sign up top. Inside, you'll find plentiful seating and counter seats. It's a cozy place, where they have an open kitchen and you can watch them prepare your food to order. If ordering any food, be prepared to wait at least 15 minutes as they do make the food fresh, which is greatly appreciated. And, honestly, it's worth the wait. The top highlights for me are: - SCONES! flavors often rotate based on the season but my favorites so far are the strawberry guava and coffee. - SANDWICHES! smash sando is amazing. 2 deliciously grilled patties, cheese, and this sauce that is reminiscent of In-N-Out in between their iconic shokupan. It's a bit salty for me, so I usually order it with less/no salt depending on how I feel. The green goddess sandwich is equally amazing if you're opting for something lighter. Offering a plentiful variety of veg, it's filling and nutritious! I was worried that the sourdough would be too crunchy or hard and wreck my gums... to my surprise, it was pillowy soft ! - TOAST! that mushroom toast is outtaaa this world. All mushroom lovers will enjoy it! There's a unique sauce that's a bit acidic and tangy, that pairs well with the mushrooms. Parking: free 90 minutes at the lot ~1.5 blocks away located on 25 S 3rd St and walk toward the side with the VTA station.

Yelp
My friend and I planned to visit on a Wednesday morning as we work in DTSJ. We walked, but there is street parking available along Santa Clara. We were expecting a line out the door, but we were only people inside the shop. We came with the intention to try their Pandan Latte, but were informed that the barista was out for the week. We were encouraged to try their Vietnamese Iced Coffee. I don't recommend the drink as it tasted nothing like Vietnamese Iced Coffee. I ordered 3 different scones - Ube, Oreo Black Sesame, and Strawberry Yuzu. The scones are $3.50/each or $9/3. We'll be back to try the Pandan Latte.

Yelp
So. So. Good. Their bread is just DELICIOUS. I need to go back ASAP and try everything else on their menu. I had the Japanese Egg Salad Sando and oh my goodness it was delicious, the bread had a spongey bounce to it and a tasty milk flavor that matched with the creaminess of the egg salad, and the portion size was just right too. So easy to eat, which also really impressed me! A couple points for improvement, but overall small enough so that I won't dock the rating: - Mushroom toast had too much oil - Wait time was a little too long

Yelp
I really enjoyed milk belly's sandos! My lemongrass chicken one held up a little longer than the salmon one (I believe because the lemongrass one didn't have tomatoes). I chose lemongrass because it reminds me of my traditional heritage dishes and I wanted to choose something different from the classic egg or fruit sandos. The line wasn't too long and I waited around 20 minutes for the sandwiches. I only wish there was a way to order ahead of time! Disclaimer: drinks not from Milk Belly Bakery

Yelp
I came on a weekday morning to avoid the busy weekend crowd and was able to enjoy a peaceful breakfast. I ordered a longanisa sando and a shokupan roll. The sandwich was delicious! The longanisa had very good flavor and everything tied together well. The shokupan roll was very soft, fluffy, with a hint of sweetness! I would definitely come back to try out some of their other baked goods!

Yelp
It wasn't a hard decision to make the walk over to this bakery. Japanese salad sandwiches (if you've had them in Japan) are amazing! When you walk in you're greeted not only by the cute ambience, but by the nice workers behind the counter. You can also see the chefs and bakers hard at work as well! I knew exactly what I came here for so looking at the menu wasn't needed, but they do have a menu with an array of items to fit everyone's needs. Alongside their set menu, they offer a seasonal and special menu. If I didn't come here craving the Japanese egg salad, I would have definitely tried one of their specialty items. Will stop by again!

Yelp
Went with friends on a Saturday at noon. The place was full, with a line up to the door, and all the tables were taken, but the line moves relatively quickly, and table turnaround is decent -- we were a group of 6, and we were able to find seats by the time our food was ready. Friend and I split a Japanese egg sandwich and a lemongrass chicken salad sando. Both sandwiches were prepared quickly since these ones just required assembly (as opposed to the longanisa sando for instance). I liked the Japanese egg sandwich more than the lemongrass chicken salad sando, but my friend preferred the opposite -- think it might just be that lemongrass is a bit more polarizing of a flavor? Not to say that it wasn't good though! I thought the milk bread was delicious, the ratio of salad to bread was good, and eating half of each left me feeling content -- not full but not hungry either. Probably could've split a hong kong milk toast or a pastry, but by the time I realized, folks were finishing up, so I didn't have time to wait in line again. Other friends ordered the longanisa sando, and while good, it sounded like those might've been a bit more filling/heavier -- one friend ended up having a bite or two leftover because they were too full. Milk Belly is in DTSJ, so parking can be a bit of a pain. There are 90-minute-free lots within walking distance, so don't stress too much about parking (and don't necessarily go for the first lot you see since some lots don't offer free 90m parking).

Yelp
New café in DTSJ! Cozy vibe, perfect for a quick lunch break. The menu is pretty standard, but what really makes this spot stand out is the in-house freshly baked bread. They also offer a nice selection of pastries. I recommend the Matcha Cloud since it is refreshing and flavorful. Don't forget to ask for the hot sauce because it has a sweet, but spicy kick that pairs well with the food. Service is friendly, drinks come out quickly, and the food can take a bit longer. Overall, a great place to grab lunch.

Yelp
I woke up early one Sunday and decided to go to downtown SJ for some coffee/pastries. I came by right at 9am and somehow I was already the 20-something person in line so had to wait a bit to order and get my food. I got the specialty sourdough to-go (sesame kinako) and I loved it! I cut it when I went home and froze it right away so I've been eating it all week. So soft and tasty! I also ordered the breakfast sandwich, I thought it was good too. They are so busy and it was nice to sit at the bar and watch the kitchen.

Yelp
Yummy food! Tried the toasts and other baked goods I'd say the drinks are overrated and probably not good to try

Yelp
My friend, who is the biggest bread lover I know,, and I finally made the trek downtown to try Milk Belly Bakery. She ordered the Longanisa Sando ($13) and Lemongrass Chicken Salad Sando ($14). I ordered the Breakfast Sando ( $11) and Hong Kong Milk Toast ($10). The bread across the board was nice and airy. The taste of the longanisa isn't the same as what my friend usually gets at other Fillpino dishes but it still tasted good. The eggs in both the Breakfast and Longanisa Sandos were fluffy. The Lemongrass Chicken Salad Sando was our favorite by a long shot. My friend got it because she loves lemongrass and cilantro. We were expecting a more grassy texture from the lemongrass that we typically taste in other dishes, but the flavor was balanced out by the lime. I have a strong disdain for cilantro but I already find myself craving this sando. Combining peanut butter and condensed milk had never crossed my mind and I can't comprehend why. The Hong Kong Milk Toast had plenty of peanut butter but I wish it was soaked in condensed milk more. Regardless, it was an eye-opening combination. We found street parking, but there are garages that offer the first 90 minutes free and San Pedro Square is a few blocks away. Though this place isn't in a convenient location, I am already looking at other items to order for next time.

Yelp
On my list to visit , I have seen it in my IG feed. Close to San Pedro Square and there are street parking or parking structures close by. I would recommend coming with your friends or family but come early line can be long and depending on what you would like to try could be sold out. The crew you could tell was passionate about their food and bakery/dine in option has a great vibe. I picked up an egg sando, longanisa sando, half of shokupan, ube polvorone, guava butter mochi, mochi chocolate chip cookie, ube scone, and sourdough oreo cookie. The longanisa sando is pretty solid if you know your Filipino Flavors. I love the guava butter mochi. I am still sampling the goodies I bought. I would definitely come back to try more of their menu. It was worth the adventure!
