"If you’re a savory breakfast person, Milk Glass Mrkt’s biscuit is for you: the light and airy counter-service cafe uses a generous amount of cheddar in its biscuits, giving them a rich savory flavor while maintaining the height and flakiness of traditional buttermilk biscuits. Choose between a biscuit sandwich with perfectly cooked scrambled egg and your choice of protein and/or vegetables or the crowd-pleasing deconstructed version, known as “The Kiddo.”" - Michelle Lopez

"What used to be a North Killingsworth breakfast cafe staple is now more of a specialty market, but the grab-and-go section and bakery makes it a destination beyond the neighborhood. In the pastry case, chicken pot pie hand pies and focaccia studded with bright green olives accompany sweeter alternatives, like cinnamon buns and apple butter brioche doughnuts. During lunch, visitors pick from takeout containers of marinated beets or roast chicken and ricotta dumpling soup, maybe grabbing take-and-bake mac and cheese and a bottle of cool local wine to serve with dinner. Visitors can pre-order online, or stop by the shop to browse." - Nathan Williams

"Milk Glass Mrkt has suspended its usual cafe menu, but its online market features things like a cafe-based produce box or “farm share,” pastries, oils and vinegars, pastas and rice, coffees and teas, meats and tinned fish, and an assortment of one-off grab-and-go meals. Customers can order online to pick up orders at the shop." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

Intimate little coffee with great brunch and drinks. The almond cake was incredible! It melts in your mouth. There's also a small imported products and wine section that's quite interesting. I loved that it wasn't packed on a Sunday like most brunch restaurants are. Definitely worth going!!

Everything made in house. Tasty and delicious hand pies, crackers, dips, better focaccia than many Italian restaurants and bakeries in Portland. The veggie sandwich is a must and the market is well curated with interesting Italian and Japanese products among others.

While milk glass is not a full cafe, they do serve wine, a couple tapas, and soft serve ice cream from the back window (right now it's only happening on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings). Very pleasant outdoor seating only with blues music on speakers. This is so my kind of place and I look forward to seeing what else they do with it ❤️.

Google
A bit pricey but so worth it. The breakfast sandwiches are amazing!! This is a really casual place, you order and pay at the counter, take a number to your table. After you are done eating you bus your own table. We really enjoyed the food, I would definitely splurge for breakfast to come back here again. It's also close to a few breweries if you are there in the afternoon and want to go for drinks after!

Google
The Eggs and Greens is one of my all-time favorite breakfasts in Portland. It's fresh and filling and consistently delicious. I can be sensitive to smoked trout but this puppy is so good every time. The staff is always friendly. The decor is adorable, the food is affordable. I've never had to wait, even when they're busy. They have a great selection of little gifts for any foodies in your life (think high-end honey, olive oils, etc). Try it, or don't, so I always get a seat :)

Google
Delicious food and great service. It does seem pricey but it was seafood and you can tell they put a lot of care onto the food. The eggs were just perfectly runny and soft.

Google
I️ really enjoyed the atmosphere of this place. I️ am a sucker for Scandinavian design. The food was great too. This is my second time getting the veggie sando, and the reason I️ like it so much is because I️ would of never thought to put those ingredients together / don’t have those ingredients in my fridge at all times, which makes the price worth it to me.

Great little cafe and corner store. The pickled radishes were delicious, along with the almond cake.

Yelp
Came here because "female foodies" listed them as a top dessert place??? It's really an eclectic market. But hey, we were already there so we tried their mocha almond pound cake. $4 and you get a pretty decent sized slice that was not overly sweet and actually, pretty darn good. Probably won't go back but glad we gave it a try. Btw, turns out the female foodie is a personal friend of the owner so a bit biased.

Yelp
Oh Milk Glass ... you stole my heart when you supported teachers during the strike. And then you stole my taste buds with your soft serve! We absolutely loved all the yummy topping options you all had too. Thank you!

Laura C.

Yelp
Delicious sandwiches, snacks and pastries, excellent wine and pantry selections, and the sweetest staff around. Definitely recommend!

John L.

Yelp
Was excited to try their vegetarian sandwich that I had heard rave reviews about on a Saturday morning. Took a couple of bites and was loving the fresh ingredients and flavor, but unfortunately we found a hair imbedded in our sandwich.

Sam H.

Yelp
Everything I've ever had from milk glass is a 10/10! Im obsessed. This tiny market is perfection

Misty C.

Yelp
I've been coming here for years in all the different iterations. The kale salad is bomb as is the soft serve. Today we got a peach caramel sundae that was out of this world. I love that you can get a few specialty items like wine and pasta. They also carry my favorite chai from Tanglewood. I would recommend checking their hours before you visit as they vary quite a bit.

Yelp
A place to get lost, and found, in! A place for not just food lovers and those who truly appreciate food. Mixed throughout the store is a wonderful selection of natural wines, made in house savory foods to-go, fresh baked goods which rotate with the seasons and the days and whims of the kitchen, locally made food products and far fetched fine ingredients from around the world. The shop is small and cozy and the staff warm and helpful. You could spend hours gazing at the food stuffs and reading the labels while you plan out your next treat your self night in or intimate dinner party with friends.

Ben B.

Yelp
Super cute and filled with high quality foods of all types (a great selection of olive oil, vinegar, tinned fish, dry goods etc), but the best part of Milk Glass is the food they make in house. The baked goods are among the best in town, especially the sublime macaron cookies and truly the best cupcakes I have ever eaten.

Coey J.

Yelp
I hardly go to brunch anymore but I'm so happy I didn't snooze away on milk glass market. It's cute, cozy and crazy good. Don't skip on the specials, just listen to the friendly person taking your order and fill your food hole with as much as you can. Im still full, dreaming of the day I can return. Pro tips: get there early, buy the hot sauce and eat the bread pudding! Snoozing equals losing so eat and be complete. Later taters!

Steve F.

Yelp
Love love love these folks! Excellent baked goods in particular. The bostock here is soft, which is a nice change from some that are a lot chewier (I.e. stale). Meringues, grinders, shop-made marshmallows, salads all excellent. This is one of our top ten in Portland.

Tim R.

Yelp
Nice breakfast and brunch place with inside and outside seating, various coffee and alcohol beverage options, and friendly customer service. The menu changes throughout the year as they get very creative using the ingredients that are in season. I had the Fruit and Ricotta dish and the Trout Plate. Both were filled with high quality, fresh, and very tasty ingredients. Plenty of fruits and veggies for a healthy and light lunch. Nice change from my usual very heavy and mostly fried and oily weekend meals. Looking forward to coming back here again.

Mikhail H.

Yelp
This was simply amazing! I love not having to fight to get into a parking spot for brunch. We went on a Sunday right at peak time and not only grabbed a table but I Princess parked out front! I honestly usually start twitching when friends suggest we "brunch" since I know what it means - ridiculous lines and half the time my food is wrong for some reason as a result of the rush of the kitchen. This was not that - this was delightful with great service from the staff and the food....blew me away. After a long peruse of the menu I chose the eggs and greens which was local farm greens, smoked trout, radishes, pickled red onion, pepitas and two runny eggs. I ate every bite - it was so clean and delicious! I plan to go back again and again and order this exact thing. I was eyeing my friend's cheddar biscuit sandwich also though with salmon and egg - it looked amazing.

Yelp
This is the first place I've ever been with CBD drinks! I personally got a CBD Mimosa and it was so great! Especially after a night of drinking and getting my groove on at the Ariana Grande concert at Moda center! I was definitely a little hungover, but the mimosa and Swell Sando made me feel a lot better! The Swell Sando has prosciutto and eggs over easy. It was so yummy! My friend told me that they make their own bread for the sandwiches which is great to know as well. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this place to come for a brunch or when it is nice and sunny out. The food is of great quality and the drinks are unique and tasty!

Yelp
Delicious !! Ordered treats from the take out window 2x this week and everything was really really tasty. Sweet and savory hand-pies, truly excellent financiers, and refreshing thyme iced tea. Very friendly and helpful staff. The woman helping me (owner?) took the time to describe the items and answer my questions. Will definitely be back!!

Yelp
Milk Glass Market was one of our regular brunch spots before the pandemic. They've been one of our mainstays during it. Milk Glass was on top of things early on in the pandemic. They closed for a while to sort out how to safely conduct business and to figure out how to change their offerings for the new reality that we were all living in. They have an outstanding sensibility for foods and flavors and offer a good array of prepared foods, finish at home and market items. While they have several items on the menu that are always available, they also often offer new and updated items. We've had many fine meals from them and they've helped safely shop saving trips to the grocery store with the market side of things. The folks there are super nice, too. We are immensely grateful to them.

Yelp
What a great 4.5 star North Portland neighborhood find! Quaint little cafe/grocery with lots of light/windows, maybe 8 smaller tables and 10 counter seats, so I can imagine it might get super busy but we went on Tuesday. What you come for is the unbelievably fresh, locally sourced delicious food and baked goods (including gluten free, daily made magical yummies in the case and a bottle of bubbly to go!) but know you'll pay a little more, but we felt it was worth it. We had the savory smoked trout plate with the seedy delicious baked in-house gf crackers (def get these with the plate) and a perfectly moist almond cake that came with fresh caramel sauce& whipped cream. We also tried two signature cocktails that were almost as good as the food. Please check out the pictures. I'm so happy to have found this gem and will most definitely bring visitors here, you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
This place is like one of those hidden places that you don't normally think about, but once you go there...you are glad you did. I stopped by for a quick breakfast/brunch. There were many items that I wanted to try, but ended up getting the "Swell" - a breakfast sandwich with egg, prosciutto, roasted peppers, provolone, basil on a ciabatta bread. Each of these items were of high quality and tasted fresh. The inside is pretty small, but they have outside seating and also a small backyard patio style seating. The staff was super friendly and helpful.

Yelp
On a quiet corner of N Killingsworth, the small neighborhood gem Milk Glass Mrkt is creating some of the best brunch dishes in Portland. Each dish exquisitely presented, ingredients are locally sourced, seasonal, and as fresh as you can get. My guy and I strolled up to Milk Glass Mrkt one Saturday morning, around 10, and were surprised to find no wait. A handful of tables dotted the inside of the small restaurant space, but we opted for one of the few outdoor tables for 2 on this sunny day. We studied the menu at length. While the menu is focused on just a few core offerings, everything sounded so good it was difficult to decide. I was particularly torn between the cheddar biscuit, eggs and greens grain bowl, and smoked trout plate. I guess that means that we will have to go back! Finally, I settled for the grain bowl. It was a savory delight with a cacophony of flavor and texture. Cool fresh mint combined with crunchy sugar snap peas still in the shell is one of my favorites. Add in some perfectly prepared radicchio (not bitter at all) and crisped, salty prosciutto with the quinoa and soft egg and it was perfect. But just look at that beautiful presentation! It was as pretty as it was delicious. My guy has a bit of sweet tooth when it comes to brunch and not finding french toast on the menu I encouraged him to get the tartine. He was not disappointed. A thick slab of sweet brioche is smeared with sweet cheese and piled high with pretty much every fruit in season locally. Raspberries, blueberries, cherries, and blackberries snuggled together, glistening with burnt honey drizzled over the top. It was simply divine. My guy couldn't stop raving about it, and indeed the couple of bites that I was able to snag were extraordinary. Milk Glass Mrkt is open from 9-3 most days and serves brunch and lunch, but the menu is really better for brunch. The space is small so come early if you don't want to wait. We sat outside on this day which includes table service. Our server was excellent, keeping our coffees and waters filled and offering great suggestions on our orders. Tip: If you have a party of 6 or more, make a reservation in advance. There is only one table that can accommodate larger parties so if you don't make a reservation be prepared to wait or have your party split up.

Yelp
We stopped here on a cool sunny day to grab some lunch. I had a salad with a grain whose name I can't remember, marcona almonds, cauliflower, fresh basil, and other fresh goodies. It was delicious and healthy. My husband and I shared a delectable piece of almond cake. The thing that came to mind when there was that this is a place for mindful eating. Everything was carefully crafted with extraordinary ingredients. Lovely!

Yelp
Milk Glass Market is twee, yet basic and so very try-hard. I bet the bourgeoisie who can afford the nearby real estate think it's really edgy while they stink the place up with their fresh scents. The service is slow. It took long enough for the good lady and I to be recognized we were discussing where else we could go when one of the FOUR people working the floor looked past the person ordering to-go coffee to see the only two other people waiting. There's actually table service. Shocking, I know. But once we got seated the servers just kinda drifted by once in a while. The food was slow, getting the check was slow, it just seemed to be a real problem to cover the rather small room with (again) FOUR people. Then this gem at the bottom of the menu: "Kindly no omissions or substitutions. Our menu is carefully thought out and planned. Thank you for your understanding". No, seriously. No OMISSIONS. Barring substitutions isn't enough to protect the integrity of their art. There's a photo of the menu on here, you can see for yourself the level of disdain for the customer. It must be to make up for the table service. The menu isn't even that impressive. Sandwiches and stuff in bowls. The thinking and planning they're referring to must be about Instagramability. Total b.s. Had I been alone I would have left. This is a business. You want my money, I want my options. This place is so Portland it's painful. The tables are too small, there's chalkboards, the water comes in whisky bottles, and the de rigueur self serve coffee station by the door. There's a little grocery section (why?) and a selection of shrubs! No, SEASONAL shrubs. Because it somehow matters what else you put into a cocktail that's been loused up with vinegar. That's the pretentiousness being dialed up to eleven. Misspelling the name of the business started it on at least seven. I'm honestly shocked it's not vegan. I'd like to say this peak Portland but the slow rolling disaster befalling my hometown shows every sign of being a perpetual motion machine. But I digress. Oh, wait, the food. I almost forgot, because it's pretty forgettable. I mean it's okay, nothing to shout about. I got the biscuit sandwich and salad. Carl's Jr does a better job and doesn't expect me to eat a freakin' salad at breakfast. I can even get them to hold the cheese. Too bad I didn't have breakfast there.

Dana H.

Yelp
I want to give four or five stars because the food was really good, but I can't, because as others have pointed out, the customer service is terrible. We got there a few minutes before opening and waited, and when the gals opened up they said to come on in, then dropped the door in my face. I thought to just let it go. After all, maybe she was just being spacey in the moment. We got up there and looked at the pastries. The woman behind the counter didn't know what they were and had to check. I guess that's fine. She took our order, repeated items back to us as if she was actually annoyed the two of us spent $50 (!!! Pretty steep, right?) on a breakfast where we order at the counter and bus our own tables. She also interrupted us halfway through ordering to ask 'wait, how many in your party? I just need to know because we need to figure out how to seat a group.' ...there were 4 of us, we were first in the restaurant, and all you'd do is push any of the two tables together. It's hard to explain this bad customer service other then to say it was obvious she didn't want to be doing this. Actually, my hubby says it best: it's a breakfast place run by people who hate mornings. As for the food, not bad. My brother had the seasonal veggie dish which had a hilarious amount of ricotta but was otherwise good, my eggs & greens was over-dressed but otherwise good, my mother's oatmeal was more of dessert than breakfast so it's otherwise good, my hubby loved his noodle bowl, we all loved the bread pudding and orange cardamom roll, and the dacha sunrise (beet shrub, vodka, grapefruit) was one of my favorite cocktails in the city. I would love to come back for the food, but it's not good enough to overcome the price combined with the lousy service. I'm owed at least an apology first.

Sampath D.

Yelp
They don't have their full menu open right now, but the two things that I got were both insanely delicious. I got a "veggie sandwich" which had two of my favorite things in it - crispy focaccia and goat cheese. I also got some romesco spread (first time trying it) and it went great with the sandwich and chips later. I was really shocked by how good the food was.

Andrew A.

Yelp
Cute place, small, very nice attention to detail. I was expecting a value-driven venue given the lower rents in the area. Nope. I'm usually one to gloss over Yelp reviews that focus on price, but what you get here for the $ just really stands out as a negative. Service from register guy and manager/owner was friendly, conversational and patient. Portland has so many options for handheld breakfast items, the fried egg biscuit here was average with an above average cost ($8) and below average size (borderline tiny.) The Blueberry Muffin was moist and good. The $10 special was a shallow dish of potatoes in an overly milky sauce, but with a nice crust. We only finished half, a definite pass item. The small almond tart looked inviting, but not for $7. No espresso (sigh), but a well-made Cafe au Lait. The downside is it's $3.50 and served in a soup bowl. I'm a small cup java guy, not into volume. I'm not sure what theme they're after as there is French inspired offerings, Northwest flare, and cans of Thai coconut milk for sale. In the end, Milk Glass Marrket is a nice meeting spot, definitely adds character to the neighborhood, but it won't come to mind for recommended small breakfast venues like Sweedeedee and Arleta. My rating is more like 2.5 Stars, but I'm trying to stay true to the definition of a 2-Star, i.e., "Meh, I've experienced better." That is, 2 Stars is not the same as a "D."

Yelp
Horrible. We went there today and I ordered egg and greens. My salad came and my husband ordered an egg sandwich. Being a blogger with over 13k visits to my website, I took a picture of my eggs and greens. Upon closer inspection, I saw a blonde hair right on my salad, interwoven between the egg and greens. Disgusted, I discreetly went to the front counter to tell the server. She looked closely and said , "oh yes! I see it!" No apologies. nothing. she went back and within 4 minutes came back with a "new" dish. Am I supposed to be stupid enough to think you can prepare an entire meal in less than 4 minutes? No apologies and didn't even suggest to take it off the check. I will take sweedeedee anyday! Gross here

Olivia E.

Yelp
The food is delicious but absolutely not worth the pretentious attitude and bad service.

Kim G.

Yelp
Cute little cafe with small menu of big, delicious eats! First time here and I had the cheddar egg biscuit and it didn't disappoint! You know a dish is good when each item is stellar on its own - the cheddar biscuit has so much cheese flavor; the herbed omelet was divine; and the bacon, well it's bacon! I ate half and saved the other half for lunch. Don't forget to check out the pastry area before you leave and buy a tasty treat to bring home, you'll thank me!

Trey M.

Yelp
After hearing a lot about this place I decided to try it out. At first glance, the inside is actually really nicely laid out and it has a spacious feel to it even though there were a lot of people there. I loved that they had a refrigerator that was stocked with drinks and even 6 packs if you wanted to take some to go. The staff was genuinely friendly from when they took my order, to when they brought it to the table. I really want to give this place more stars because I think it's a good place. However, a couple things. For whatever reason the day I was there a customer wasn't happy with his order of a salad. Granted, the guy wasn't the nicest about it but he wanted to talk to the person in charge of making the salad. It just so happened that it was the owner, and she wasn't friendly toward him and was actually talking pretty loud toward him so others could hear in the restaurant. Look, I get it. I work in the customer service industry and people aren't always nice and they get under your skin. But there's other ways to go about it so that you don't make the customer feel terrible, and you don't make a scene. Just made for an awkward experience having to listen to that. As for the food, honestly it was pretty good. However, it took 25 minutes for me to get my breakfast sandwich. Luckily I didn't mind because it was a nice day so I was sitting outside, but it really wasn't THAT busy. Especially considering the size of it, I would've thought it might've come out just a little quicker. Again, not a huge deal just an observation. And finally, the price of it. I got the egg sandwich on a biscuit with salmon. Tasted really good, but for $8 it seemed a little steep especially when it's just the biscuit sandwich and nothing else. When it comes down to it, I would love to give this place another shot in the future. But in the mean time, because it is Portland, you might want to look elsewhere for brunch to a place that will actually give you a decent portion size for the price being charged.

June F.

Yelp
I am a fan! This place was 2 blocks away from the Airbnb I was staying at. There is a decent amount of seating inside the restaurant. They also have additional seating outside along the wall. I ordered the cheddar biscuit with smoked salmon. WOW. Packed with a lot of flavor. My mouth is salivating trying to describe this dish LOL. Biscuits were made fresh. They were flaky and cooked to perfection. It was served with a fresh spring salad. I don't usually put salt on my greens, but they did and it was surprisingly good. I also had their nitro cold brew--really smooth and flavorful. I ended my meal with the orange and chocolate cinnamon roll. Brooooo. One of the best cinnamon rolls I've ever had. The orange was not overpowering at all. Great combo! Will have to come back here again when I visit Portland.

David P.

Yelp
What a hidden gem! Their kale salad is so good I could easily be convinced to go vegetarian over it! Similarly, the almond cake is soooo good I'm willing to go vegan! Where's that James Beard award when you need it?

Kara H.

Yelp
It might be cliche to describe a neighborhood market/cafe as a "hidden gem," but that's exactly what Milk Glass Mrkt is. It's a perfect little brunch/lunch spot and offers an amazingly well-curated selection of market items to boot. The small-plate portions are just right, and prices are incredibly reasonable, especially in comparison to nearby brunch spots. A $6 Bloody Mary? Yes, please. Breakfast sandwiches starting around $5 apiece? Perfect. And the food is amazing. Milk Glass takes unexpected ingredients from the garden and makes them fit perfectly in every dish, really carrying through the farm-to-table ethos. Creativity shines in thyme iced tea, or the "snack egg" with lemon aioli, cherry tomatoes and fennel oil. It seems that no matter what you order, it's fresh, full of flavor and high quality. While Milk Glass is an order-at-the-counter-before-sitting-down kind of place, they help you identify open tables while you're at the register so you don't feel like you're left to compete with anyone for a seat. My only complaint isn't really a complaint: I had hoped for more sweets to be on the menu -- while there were scones, a bread pudding and some cookies, I expected a larger variety given the owner's experience and reputation as a pastry chef. But I'll definitely be back to see if the selection is larger in the future, maybe on a weekend.

Zoe G.

Yelp
Service was friendly and helpful! We thought the biscuit looked dry in pictures but ordered anyway, it was perfectly cheesy, moist and crumbly. Free coffee refills was a surprising delight! (Coffee was delicious too). Focaccia was so perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Granola with steamed almond milk was good but a little sweet for me. Overall it was a little expensive for the amount of food, but I thought it was a cute and yummy experience.

Grace A.

Yelp
The food is really good and the atmosphere is pleasant as well. I like the market style set up. My favorite thing is their bread pudding; it's incredible. My favorite treat in Portland. However, I try to avoid going here now because I spend too much money...everything is delicious but it unfortunately just breaks the bank every time :(

Sheila E.

Yelp
I have been wanting to go here for a while, so I stopped by for a late breakfast the other day. I ordered the Cheddar Biscuit with the Herbed Egg and Applewood Bacon, and a Cafe Au Lait (I asked for a latte but was told this would be the closest drink I could order). Both were exceptional. My cafe au lait was served in a big mug (which I love) and was perfect. And my cheddar egg bacon biscuit was really, really good. Perfectly cooked egg with cheddar, and the biscuit was divine. I love biscuits, and this one did not disappoint. I wanted to taste the biscuit alone, so I ate the top half without anything, and it was buttery and dense and delicious. I would definitely order that again. Service was friendly, but not over the top. I've read a lot of reviews with complaints of bad service, but I did not experience that at all. The space is small, but cozy. And light pours in from the front and side windows, so it has a nice, warm feeling. It looked like they have seating for about 20 inside and more tables outside, and I can see where they could get packed on the weekends. Overall, I really liked it. I thought it was a little overpriced, but that won't stop me from going back. I think they are a great addition to this North Portland neighborhood.

Courtney B.

Yelp
The coffee and food here are very good. The restaurant is a little on the small side but very cute! I loved how they served water on the table in Bulleit Bourbon Glass bottles. However, the service is terrible! When we arrived the woman behind the counter seemed annoyed and unhappy to be working. She was very unpleasant and basically told us to seat ourself and clearly wanted us out of her face. I ended up ordering the cheddar biscuit with smoked salmon. I didn't love the texture of their smoked salmon but it did taste good and the sandwich was very good as a whole. I loved the coffee they served. However, they give you the smallest coffee mugs possible so you have to continuously get up and refill from the coffee pot by the door, which was annoying. At this point it had been a fairly good experience. But all of a sudden the woman behind the counter came up to us and said, "So are you going to order anything else or...." And we said oh we don't think so. It was a very uncomfortable interaction. She seemed so mad we weren't getting up and leaving immediately after eating. We were both shocked that she seemed so mad at us for sitting there and drinking our coffee. She wasn't waiting on us and we were serving ourselves. I would have understood if we had been sitting there for ages and ages and were taking up space while the restaurant was busy. However, the restaurant wasn't too busy and everyone who came in had a spot to sit at. It was just such an odd interaction and we felt more like and inconvenience than guests in a restaurant.

Bob R.

Yelp
This is a review by a vegetarian Food here is excellent, especially bread products. The focaccia may be the best in Portland (only competition is Luce). It's a clean space and well lit with large windows. What is not large is the room itself. There are 5 2-tops plus some stools by the window and by the counter; two outdoor 2-tops as well. That's why this isn't 5-stars: one can never plan to go there because it's popular and you can't be sure to actually get a seat. That and the limited hours means it's for late breakfast to tea time on happenstance rather than making a calendar appointment Also know that there is drip coffee and a milk steamer/frother but no espresso machine.

Yelp
A wonderful brunch/breakfast experience. After reading about this place recently, I decided to venture forth and see what the hype was about. To my taste buds, it's reputation is well deserved. Locally or in house made bread, biscuits that put other more known biscuit establishments to shame and a bevy of ingredients that make your stomach and heart happy. Seating is quite limited but well worth the wait.

Yelp
It takes a combination of factors to make a restaurant succeed: Location, quality, price, customer service, atmosphere, etc. And all of these add up to Value. Milk Glass Market is not good value. As it has been pointed out in other reviews, the food quality is very good. It is also quite expensive. The prices and the atmosphere scream NW 23rd Ave, but this is Killingsworth west of Interstate. While the atmosphere is very welcome in this transitional neighborhood the prices seem very out of place, which would mean that the only way to achieve good value would be for a stellar customer service experience, and you won't find that here (if you read the reviews you will note this is a recurring theme, not just an isolated incident). In my estimation this place won't last. I'm hopeful that something great arrives to take its place.

Yelp
Visiting Portland from Chicago. Great food, service, and atmosphere. I had the cheddar biscuit with salmon and my boyfriend had the smoked trout plate. Thank you!

Yelp
I swore I wasn't going to tell anyone about this place, so I'd have a secret brunch place with amazing food and no wait. Then the second time I got there, boom, a million* people were there. Was the food still as delicious? Yes. Was the wait mitigated by the fact that you order at the counter before you sit? Yes. Did the mimosa taste weird ? Yes, but I had just brushed my teeth and I'm sure that was why. It's not like it's a complicated recipe. That biscuit thing is amazing. The sweets are yummy. Stay away! * +/- 999,978

Yelp
Amazing little gem. I leave this restaurant feeling satisfied and buoyant after eating their healthy and oh so scrumptious dishes. My favorite is the greens and eggs... the trout and perfectly cooked 6min egg with slightly runny yolk scratches my craving itch every time. The service is great too! Very adorable atmosphere.

Yelp
This place was excellent. I'm a foodie born and raised in Seattle where there are so many great hidden gems. This is one of those places. Great price point and the food was great! I'm disappointed there was no espresso but perhaps over time they'll get one. I've been back 4 times since the first visit and while the food is great, a few things are missing: I came in this afternoon and ordered the salad and asked for light dressing. I don't like my lettuce drenched and I feel that t takes away from other hidden gems in the salad itself, such as the beets and dates. I was told the owner doesn't allow this. Allow this? I'm a paying customer, why should I not have the option? As a business owner myself, I wouldn't have gladly put the dressing on the side or just put light dressing on it. Where is the customer service? I waited for my salad for 25 minutes on top of that. No apology, nothing. The food itself gets a 5, but my overall experience is a 3. Need to work on customer service skills and getting the food out at a proper time.

Yelp
Finally a legit fresh and ingredient driven brunch/lunch spot! Portland don't you get tired of fried everything southern gravy drenched breakfast, huh! Well I do. How many variations of bacon and potatoes can be on a menu? This is the opposite! I have enjoyed everything here, from the baked goods, sandwiches, salads. Even the wines from the cooler are legit: Bow and Arrow winery, Boutanche liter wine... Death to your Jam/Screen Door/Mother's. Rise Milk Glass, real slow food lovers have your back!!!!

Yelp
This neighborhood spot has gotten some recent good press on EaterPDX, and probably a wave of business from that, which might explain some of the recent so-so reviews. I live within walking distance and have been a few times. As others have mentioned, the food quality is very good, definitely the best in this area. The dishes and pastries are unique and very tasty. That however, comes with prices that do seem a little high given the neighborhood and portion size. I've never had bad service here, but it hasn't been anything that stands out either. The inside is cute but their seating assignment system is kind of annoying. Unfortunately they don't have many good gluten-free options (other than salads, but who wants that for breakfast). Overall I'm glad they're in the neighborhood and visit occasionally, but the prices and lack of gluten-free options (for my wife) limit my patronage.

Yelp
I was eager to try this new restaurant in my hood last weekend. After ordering at the counter, I was shocked by the 18% tip charge in the ipad. My husband did the 18%, I would have def picked the custom option. Not only do you get your own coffee, bus your own tables and wait in a line to order at the counter.... I ordered the trout salad, which was good, but could have come with a side of toast for 12$, left me a bit hungry. My husband got the biscuit sandwich but had to add a side salad and even them was still hungry. My daughter got the bread pudding, which was nothing special. Added a danish which was good. All in all it was very expensive for what it was. Reminded me a bit of Sweedeedee, which is a better value. Will not be back.

Yelp
With so many good places to eat in Portland, not only does your food have to be good, but you also have to have good customer service. More importantly, you need to make people feel welcome when they are guests in your business. That was not the case on our visit to the Milk Glass Mrkt. Our cashier was rude and unaccommodating. While there, things only continued to get worse. I manage a restaurant myself. I understand the food industry well and tend to be pretty sympathetic, and I left outraged by this persons demeanor when dealing with her guests. I greatly appreciate it when people take the time to contact me at my restaurant if something was unsatisfactory rather than immediately taking to reviews. I wrote the management a letter explaining the situation. I never got a response. Based on the service alone, I will not go back to the Milk Glass Mrkt. Too many other businesses out there that sincerely want to serve their guests and earn their patronage.

Yelp
Just ordered the Swell, cheddar egg salmon biscuit sandwich with side salad, and bread pudding. Cost $32 not including the $6 tip. Customer service was average. Waited only one minute for an outside table as the inside was incredibly hot and humid. It took over 30 minutes to get food and restaurant was not crowded and many employees working. Cost is very high for small servings. Salad was $4 extras and was drenched in citric acid. Very bizarre with bitter greens. Husband said Swell was very good. Bread pudding was tasty. For the price, I wouldn't come back.

Yelp
This is my new favorite spot for brunch! Their menu is simple, but delicious! I tend to get overwhelmed with choices, so their menu made my choices easy. Their nitro cold brew is TO DIE FOR! I got it with a little coconut milk and simple syrup- which I highly recommend!!

Yelp
I went here for lunch and was the only person for a while but they refused to sit me because I was still waiting on my friend, although I said I could order for him in advance. The servers seemed annoyed at the customers coming in after me and they were rude when I asked them to tell me more about their vinegar drinks... terrible service, especially for a place this expensive, and you still have to clean your own tables and order at the counter!?? Food was good though. I can't say I am ever going back nor would I recommend it to anyone

Yelp
Simple. Elegant. Delicious. What more does one really need from a small neighborhood market? I do wish there was a touch more 'market'. But all in all milk glass is a wonderful contrast to the 600 chicken and waffles joints in PDX. Nice to go to brunch and not feel like you need to take a nap afterward. The eggs on the breakfast biscuit are fluffy and perfect every time. The greens and eggs is by far my favorite thing on the menu... Proof that a delicious breakfast doesn't have to be a huge plate of carbs and sugar... Speaking of sugar, that chocolate sea salt cookie is what dreams are made of... The special strata... Omg... Yum...

Yelp
Thank you for bringing quality, perfection, and consistency to N Portland. We love your made from scratch breakfast sandwiches. We drove from SW Portland to enjoy them but we also dig the neighborhood vibe. We get it, it's a huge amount of effort to put on a gorgeous delicious and stunning production like yours. We are happy to pay. We love you Milk Glass Mrkt and we'll be back very soon. Xoxo
