The Mill House Review - Wailuku - Maui - The Infatuation

"You won’t find this spot on the “resort rows” of Wailea or Kāʻanapali, but it’s worth the 20-30 minute trip from your hotel to Central Maui for dinner at The Mill House. Not only is the menu farm-driven, but it’s also farm-located, right in the middle of the Maui Tropical Plantation. Get here early to wander the property and take in the views of the Central Valley over Happy Hour cocktails and wood-fired sourdough pizzas. Dinner is definitely more upscale and expensive (though, this is still Maui, so flip-flops are always welcome), but if only one big night out is in the budget, The Mill House is where you should spend it." - Leah Ponichtera

The delightful little town of Grand Rapids, Ohio was the backdrop for our two night stay at the Mill House Inn bed-and-breakfast. We had a wedding to attend on November 2 at Nazareth Hall, a six minute drive up the road. So the B & B was not only convenient, but warm & homey, very clean, full of history with pathways along the canal to walk and interesting stores in which to shop. Wish we could have stayed longer! New owners since our last stay but Laura and Paul carry on the Mill House's excellent reputation. With the canal and river just steps away you can't help but relax. Laura prepares a superb breakfast, but you also must try one of Paul's cookies. The room and amenities were of high standards. We also enjoyed breakfast with the other guests, sharing very friendly conversations and laughs. If you enjoy the warmth of traditional B & Bs, Mill House will help you create wonderful memories.

The Mill House was an ideal location for us to stay a few days while attending a nearby wedding. The room was clean and well-kept with ample space for our things. Laura and Paul were fantastic hosts. Breakfasts were delicious for our 2 day stay. Grand Rapids is a quaint town with enough options for dining, recreation or entertainment with the Mill House an excellent choice for lodging.

My friend and I had a wonderful relaxing overnight stay at The Mill House Bed and Breakfast. Laura greeted us as soon as we walked inside, we both felt very welcome. She took us to our room & showed us where the extra pillows and blankets were stored and showed us how to work our in room Kuerig. We also had a small refrigerator which was a nice touch. She told us that her husband Paul made chocolate chip cookies and would set some out for us in the common area. They were delicious. Our Garden Room was beautifully decorated and had a beautiful view of the river and the flower garden. Our breakfast was scrumptious. We had a nice chat with Paul during our breakfast. I highly recommend this charming bed and breakfast that's full of history.

I absolutely love being at Mill House Bed & Breakfast!! 💗 Paul and Laura are wonderful and welcoming hosts, creating a home away from home feeling! Laura's breakfasts and Paul's homemade cookies are delicious! 😋This was my 2nd time here. I stayed in the Tee-Na-Beek Room both times and love its cozy atmosphere and comfortable bed! The Maumee River and tow path are right in the back yard, and you can walk to every place in the downtown area with its cute shops and restaurants, which is so convenient and fun! And the sunsets are amazing! 🌅 I will be looking forward to returning for another visit!! 😊

Had a relaxing weekend and the Mill House Bed and Breakfast. The couple that owns the Mill House are super nice and enjoyed our Breakfast time with them and the other vacationers. The views are excellent and enjoyed walking the river. Great place to stay!

This was our 3rd stay at the Mill House. Rooms are cozy, breakfast was delicious and the location can't be beat! The only change I'd suggest is a larger TV in the Edward Howard room for us near sighted folks 😁

The Mill House Bed and Breakfast was quaint and peaceful. Each room was uniquely charming in the historical building that sits at the top of Grand Rapids' main street. Just behind it is the Maumee River which has a beautiful walking path where we enjoyed morning walks in the brisk spring air. It is an excellent place to retreat from a busy life of service in ministry. The Innkeepers were very hospitable.

Yelp
Great food, views and host. Old brick building with large farm beams. Nicely decorated. The rooms all have their own bathrooms.

Yelp
We were so happy to find this hidden gem! We hadn't been here 30 minutes before my wife was requesting to come back. The community is like stepping back in time. The river walk is beautiful. As for the Mill House, it is obvious that Kathy and Ron have the gift of hospitality! We cannot recommend it more highly!

Yelp
Do you want a beautiful and relaxing place to stay? Whether you want a mini-vacation away from the kids or are just driving thru and need a place rest your head this place is perfect! Each room is made up beautifully and any worries you have at the beginning of your stay will soon be pushed away. The breakfast is also amazing! The homemade scones will have you wanting to come back every weekend. The InnKeepers are wonderful and loving people aswell. Absolutely nothing wrong with the wonderful place!

Yelp
Great place to stay. My mom and I stayed in the Ruth Thomas room. Had a single and queen bed. Nice view of the river and canal from our bedroom window. Lovely flowers in the backyard. Ron and Kathy (the owners) are a great couple, very friendly, knowledgeable about the house and area. Main Street is full of little stores with a wide variety of items, clothes, antiques, quirky little finds. 4 or 5 little cafés/sub shops

Yelp
Great spot. Very romantic Inn in a charming little town. The Innkeepers, Ron and Kathy, felt like old friends after a day. It's so peaceful there, you could just read a book and be plenty happy. But we kayaked, walked, dining and generally just had a very relaxing break. Breakfast will keep you fueled up all day! We can't wait to go back!

Yelp
We love B&Bs and found this one as we drove through town sometime last year. We thought it looked like a nice place to stay, and we definitely were not disappointed when we finally got to stay here earlier this month. Grand Rapids is a nice little town that seems far from the hustle and bustle of the city although it is only about a half hour out of Toledo. The location on the river really sold us on staying, and we loved being able to stay in the Garden Room where we had a nice view of the Maumee. Ron and Kathy are great hosts and really do everything they can to make sure that their guests have a great stay. They found out our interests and made sure we knew about some of the area's little hidden treasures that we might never have found on our own. Kathy also made sure that I had a constant supply of my beloved ice tea available in the common room during our 2-day stay :) I particularly liked walking down to the river and the towpath behind the inn--it's only a half-mile walk to Thurston State Park from the inn, and it's a great route to take in the early evening to see the sunset. We're in the Detroit area, so this is definitely close enough to home for us to enjoy a quick overnight getaway. We'll be back!
