We decided to go on a horse tour, as we have been to Lexington several times and don’t much about horses or horse racing. We choose to tour Mill Ridge Farm. Our tour guide, Michelle was beyond amazing!!! It was a fairly small group (5 total). Michelle provided very detailed information about the horse industry, horses, and history of Mill Ridge Farm. She answered all of our questions. Michelle introduced us to the Stallions and then we got to feed carrots to the mares.i must add my favorite stallion is Oscar Performance…what a character! After the tour we purchased several items from the gift shop to show our appreciation of Mill Ridge Farm. This was one of the most informative tours I have ever taken. You could say she kept me on the edge of my saddle! Thank you Mill Ridge Farm and Michelle for hosting the tour and all the information we learned!

My family had a great time on our tour! Our guide was very knowledgeable and was able to go into great detail on what it takes to become a reputable horse breeder. This tour was also very family friendly as my 3 year old had a blast!

Google
Really great experience led by our guide Michelle. Really knowledgeable, very friendly. We were able to get up close to many beautiful horses with their foals (not the stallions of course). Fed the mares carrots, scratched/pet the babies. So much fun and interesting history & insights

What a great experience. Michelle did a winderful job sharing the history of the farm and the horses. Hands on with a few horses was really special. The beauty of the farm left a lasting impression.

Google
This tour was absolutely incredible. Michelle was the most amazing guide. 10 stars isn't enough for the knowledge, kindness and joy she brings to the tour. She was so informative with the history of the farm, the family and all the horses. She had all the answers to the verrrrry many questions I had and you could really tell she loved being there and part of the Mill Ridge family. The tour was so hands on and never felt rushed or forced. It was such a surreal experience to see award winning horses, feed them carrots, learn about their champion offspring and pet all the mares and babies. I got so many great pictures and memories that will last a lifetime. I started recommending the tour to my friends as soon as I got back into my car before I even left the farm. Loved it so much. Thank you!

Google
Perfect day at a horse farm. Our guide, Michelle was super nice and very knowledgeable about the history of the farm and family. She Also explained the daily operations at a breeding and boarding horse farm, so interesting. We saw Stallions! We saw mares and weanlings! And got to feed carrots to stallions and mares!! Highly recommend 10/10

Google
We had a great small group experience that included information on the incredible history and legacy of the family, farm, the horses and the industry, including photos of the Queen's visit. We were allowed to feed carrots to beautiful studs and yearlings. The owner drove out to meet and talk with us which was a surprise bonus. The farm is different from other farms that we have visited in that it's the oldest continuous farm in the area and they only have a dozen horses of their own but they provide nursery services for some well known breeding stock. Well worth the scenic drive to visit.

Google
Mill Ridge Farm was one of the highlights of our trip to Kentucky that exceeded my expectations. The farm itself was beautiful and well maintained. Our tour guide, Ryn, was very knowledgeable, friendly, and patient. The horses were absolutely amazing, and I had so much fun watching my children having an opportunity to feed and pet horses. We live in the city, so this meant so much to us. I would highly recommend this place to anyone with or without kids. Thank you Mill Ridge Farm for such a unique and wonderful experience.

Yelp
We had a great time on our tour of the farm with guide Rynn. It shows that she has a love for the farm and the horses. We got to pet and feed lots of horses. Saw several foals as young as three weeks old.

Yelp
If I could give this farm 10 stars I definitely would! This was truly the highlight of my visit to Kentucky! Our tour guide was not only professional and insightful but a true burst of sunshine! She was extremely knowledgeable and pleasant ! Thank you Ryn!! I am even considering equine studies due to you!! I would truly advise anyone to visit here for a personal up close experience! I love animals but especially horses and this is one for the books...

Yelp
This was a GREAT tour. Took tour on a Sunday but windy Saturday. Nice sized group. Delightful tour guide, Brittany. First a quick history of the farm. Then we met one of the stallions and fed him carrots. We got in our cars and drove to meet some mares and foals. Took a bit for the mares to come and greet us but they all did eventually. Very friendly horses, especially when you have carrots. Lastly we saw the yearling fillies. Beautiful setting. This was so fun, highly recommend if in the area.

Yelp
We had a really good time on the tour of Mill Ridge Farm through visit horse country! The tour guide, Kelly, did a great job of breaking down what a nursery farm is and horses in general. I really liked the format of the tour as a horse safari where we drove around to see horses of different ages. We loved feeding them carrots and interacting with the horses!! Highly recommend this tour/visit if you're in Lexington.

Yelp
Great tour guide--super friendly / pleasantly chatty. Kiddos had a blast--lots of hands-on time with horses (and a metric ton of carrots available for feeding).

Yelp
With COVID going around it's hard to get tickets on a short notice to tour farms, lucky we got 2 for here. Tour guy was great, funny and very personal. We got to meet, feed and pet fillys and yearlings. Also got to see and feed peppermints to Oscar Performance, a magnificent stallion. The horses are beautiful, the farm is gorgeous, the grounds are immaculate. You can tell how much pride this family has in caring for, breeding and raising horses.

Yelp
Underwhelming and didn't look like the horses were well cared for which is extremely disappointing.

Yelp
Mill Ridge Farm is renowned for six generations raising a multitude of first class thoroughbreds who have gone on to have great racing careers. Unlike many of our commercial breeding farms in the Buegrass, there are only two stallions on the roster -- Keep Up and the newly retired Oscar Performance. Mill Ridge, all class.

Yelp
Our guide was amazing and full of information. We really enjoyed the private tour. The foals were adorable. We loved feeding carrots to the coals, mares and the cute bunch of spunky yearling colts. This is a tour you should not miss! Beautiful farm and happy horses!

Yelp
It was The best experience I've had at a horse farm. First time ever got to feed and pet horses. They provided carrots to feed to the mother horses and we were able to pet the babies. It was sooo much fun. Our guide new so much about the farm and most of the horses and there names. For the price you can't beat!!! Definitely going to bring more people when we come back to KY.

Yelp
Such an amazing experience. From the moment you arrive on the farm you are greeted with beautiful views and wonderful hospitality. Perfect for anyone with or without experience with horses. Our guide was knowledgeable and had a great attitude. While on our tour we were able to see and pet several horses. Definitely worth a visit!

Yelp
We had an amazing time at Mill Ridge Farm feeding the horses and just learning about the culture there in general! This place is truly an institution and has produced so many high caliber race horses, that their hard work and commitment is commendable. And as the cherry on top, we got to meet the owner and talk to him about the business that he has built. Our tour guide was exceptional and I would definitely recommend :)

Yelp
After a day at Keeneland, we were thrilled to have the opportunity to take a morning tour of Mill Ridge. The passion, pride, and love for horses is felt in every corner of this 6th-generation farm. While on tour and learning about the process of breeding horses and what life looks like for a race horse, the home grown authenticity of Mill Ridge and their values was inspiring and exciting. More than anything, our tour at Mill Ridge gave us the curiosity to learn more about this special culture, as well as strengthened our respect for it. We cannot wait to return to Mill Ridge in the future for another tour to expose our family and friends to the same excitement we felt during our tour.

Yelp
I highly recommend this tour! The guide was wonderful and the farm is so beautiful! Fed carrots to weanlings, yearlings and stallion Oscar Performance.

Yelp
Our company, Travel the Trail , visited Mill Ridge on Oaks Day. We gathered as a group into a breeding shed where crates were set up as seats. Price Bell, son of the owner, Headley Bell, welcomed us with a big smile. He then proceeded to talk at length about his family farm and the daily operations . He was very approachable and friendly. As luck would have it, mares were out and about with their foals, and we all got to see many of them in the foaling barn. I liked the fact that we weren't rushed; in fact, Price asked me if we needed to be somewhere by a certain time. Over lunch, I asked our group about the farm tour, and they unanimously said it was the highlight of their Oaks Day . Kudos to you, Mill Ridge. We can't wait to bring another group to this beautiful gem of a farm. Mary Ann Buckner www.travelthekytrail.com

Yelp
Had a wonderful time touring Mill Ridge today. The guide was knowledgeable and friendly, open to any and all questions. The mares and foals are a delight to see and feed carrots to (mares only)!! Their stallion, Oscar Performance is impressive. The history and background of the farm is a study in the development of the modern breed of race horse. Well worth your time to visit.
