Food carts offering diverse bites: Home Taste, Khao Niew Lao Street Food
"I’m relieved that the Millar Library food cart pod on Portland State University’s campus will remain open thanks to assistance from the city’s Bureau of Environmental Services; it had been slated to close this July because of Oregon’s new wastewater regulations (which went into effect in January 2023) after the university was unable to find a cost-effective solution, prompting a student petition in March. Construction will begin this summer to install a grease interceptor system to comply with the state’s rules, and cart owners at the pod have agreed to a rent increase that will go toward ongoing maintenance and oversight of the system. The pod includes Home Taste, Khao Niew Lao Street Food, and Sheesh Shawarma." - Janey Wong
