You come to me on the day of my daughters wedding and don’t even think to call me the best deli in the world

Came here for lunch during a NJ trip and it was so tasty. Got the “The Hollywood” sandwich and it was so good and filling. The place is so cute and popular! A good amount of people were here when we went but the service was still great. Staff were nice and answered questions we had. Didn’t take long for us to get our food and we were able to sit inside to eat. Would come again!

I had heard good things about this place. This sandwich was fairly large and well stuffed, so it was uniquely cut into three. It was very good! :) I also heard people love the pickles, which a few came on the side and they were delightful! I ordered delivery so I can’t say about the atmosphere. I would like to try more items again!

First time here, I came here with a buddy. He raved about the sloppy Joe's, so I had to have one. I had the conrbeef and pastrami sloppy Joe, and he had the roast beef and Turkey sloppy joe. Very big sandwiches are very good. Huge menu limited seating indoors. It is not cheap, we'll it is Milburn, so it's not going to be cheap. Ours sandwiches were $17.95 each. Good and fresh sandwiches and salads

Best sandwiches! Everything was really good, nice birthday celebration. Thanks Millburn Deli!✌🏼

Came here on a stop sign through New Jersey and got the Reuben. It didn’t have very much meat or sauerkraut, so it wasn’t as filling as I would’ve liked. It tasted good, but I’ve had much better Reubens (I probably should’ve ordered one of their specialty sandwiches). My friend got a custom salad and enjoyed it. There’s no indoor seating, but there are a bunch of covered tables outside. The staff was polite and helpful, and they have a fun tradition whenever someone orders a Gobbler (you’ll have to see for yourself).

**A Hidden Gem for Sandwich Lovers** During my recent visit to the area from Dallas, TX, I stumbled upon a delightful deli perfect for a late lunch. Taking an employee's recommendation, I opted for the Turkey Sloppy Joe, and I was pleasantly surprised by both the quality and portion size. The sandwich was generously packed, and honestly, I didn’t need any chips, but I’d suggest adding them next time for that satisfying crunch. The bread truly stood out; it tasted homemade and incredibly fresh, elevating the whole experience. As for the “Sloppy Joe” sauce, it was a unique twist on the classic. Sweet and tangy, it reminded me of thousand island dressing, which was definitely unexpected but surprisingly appealing. Parking was a breeze with free spots available in the lot next to the deli, making it easy to stop in. If you're considering dining in, seating is conveniently located just two doors down from where you order and pick up your sandwiches. Overall, this place has a charming local vibe and is certainly worth the visit. I left feeling satisfied and eager to return—next time, I’ll be trying another delicious sandwich and definitely ordering the famous iced tea!

Michael

Google
I love this place I usually get the turkey gobbler or the My Hammy Vice. If you are ordering during lunch there can sometimes be a wait to pick up your sandwich. Other than that the food is great.

My new favorite deli. Chicken Cutlet Heaven !! They have sandwiches upon sandwiches upon sandwiches. So many choices , plenty of chips , drinks , salads , sides to choose from and wings. Everything was delicious. I tried the JAY RAY Chicken Cutlet • Bacon • Cheddar Cheese • BBQ Sauce • Chipotle Ranch (pressed) The GODFADDA Chicken Cutlet • Bacon • Sliced Fresh Mozzarella • Russian Dressing (pressed) The GAZOOS GRINDER Chicken Cutlet • Bacon • Lettuce • Tomato • Garlic Mayo And The GOSSIP GIRL Thinly Sliced Grilled Chicken Breast • Fresh Mozzarella • Roasted Garlic Tomato • Lettuce • Balsamic • MultiGrain Baguette *pressed and macaroni salad which was house made and delicious and fresh. Seems they pre make a lot of sandwiches and press them like a panini which is smart and quite good. There’s many more sandwiches I’d like to go back and try. Plenty of seating indoor and outdoor. Seems it fills up fast so I’d suggest go early Or order ahead to go. Will definitely be back

Yelp
Their famous sloppy joes will fill you up and the combo of meat, cheese, coleslaw and Russian dressing will surprise you. Everything is made to order and they even make their own iced tea and pickles. With multiple locations in NJ (Millburn, Morristown, Montclair and Westfield) - Millburn Deli has you covered! Insta: @thehungrysw Roast Beef Sloppy Joe (Roast Beef * Swiss Cheese * Cole Slaw * Russian Dressing * Triple Decker Rye) The Steak Escape (Tri-Tip Steak * Cheddar Cheese * Sautéed Onions * Horseradish Sauce * Rye) Little Italy (Proscuitto * Fresh Mozzarella * Roasted Garlic Tomato * Arugula * Balsamic * Sub Roll) The Perfect Ten (Rare Roast Beef * Sharp Provolone * Tomato * Arugula * Garlic Mayo * Everything Focaccia, *pressed) Spinach Salad (Spinach Mix * Bacon * Chopped Egg * Craisins * Red Onion * Balsamic * Vinaigrette)

Yelp
Catered a biz lunch and sandwiches looked great. I had a chicken Caesar salad and it was odd. It contained normal ingredients plus jarred roasted red peppers and chopped onion! It was a large portion but not really a Caesar. Also the added ingredients were too small to pick out Very busy place so next visit I'll go the sandwich route

Yelp
My brother who recently moved into the area had been talking about this deli for months and I finally got to try it after helping him move. I can see how they are doing well. First, we did not eat them while they were fresh, probably at least 3 hours after the sandwiches were made. I must say they use quality and fresh ingredients. Everything tasted so fresh. The chicken cutlet was so tendered and not heavy. The roasted red pepper was so sweet. The wild bull was perfecto with the A-1 sauce. It's such a clever combination of ingredients to make great sandwiches. The sandwiches are in the pricier side but it's worth a few more bucks for the flavor and the quality ingredients. Apparently they are doing so well that there are other locations. I hope they continue to do well and serve delicious food

Yelp
If you're a fan of Milburn Deli, move along - you're not going to enjoy this review... First, I will let you know that we are casual diners and enjoy traveling to eateries suggested by others. As we visit these suggested restaurants, dive bars, pizzeria, Italian restaurants, burgers, frankfurter, and sandwich shops, we could almost always see why others before us enjoyed and recommended these places. That's not the experience we had at Milburn Deli (Milburn location). Sure, we enjoyed our sandwiches - fresh ingredients almost always make for a tasty meal. We ordered pickup online, and it was quick, allowed for special requests, and most importantly, the order was accurate! The portions were just right, not bellly busters' sanwhiches, but you're satisfied when done. We ordered the bow tie and macaroni salads & they were super tasty! However, there were (3) things missing at the Milburn Deli in Milburn - LOCATION, LOCATION & LOCATION! The lack of parking is the least of your concerns. The issue is the township of Milburn! This section of town is choked with foot, vehicular, commercial vehicles, and extracurricular POLICING (summons) activities!!! We suspect the township is trying to portray itself as a quait (Norman Rockwell) village, but it is anything else but that. During the time spent there, we observed almost all the foot traffic was transient - people just passing through and most of shops were empty. So, in summary, we enjoyed the food, but the town of Milburn left a sour taste in our mouths!

Yelp
These guys know what they are doing and you can feel and taste the passion that goes into this place. Sandwiches are commonplace but the sandwiches here are anything but that. My Tuscan chicken cutlet sando with roasted peppers, mozz, arugula and garlic mayo was really something else. Bread was soft and I usually like my bread toasted but it was still really enjoyable. Chicken was juicy and flavorful, cheese was soft and veggies were fresh. I'm not from around here but if I was I would be dying to eat her once a week at least and eventually try everything on the menu. Menu options are split up into main protein categories and the color coding is a fun way of organizing these delicious chaotic creations. The staff serves quality service with a smile and you feel it when you walk in and feel happy on the way out. Worth going out of your way to come here.
google avatar

Amber H.

Yelp
Sandwiches are so delicious and there are many options to choose from. I usually order online for pickup and my food is always ready at the time given. I would say that the price for the sandwiches are reasonable since they are pretty large portions
google avatar

Yelp
This place is iconic. If you can find parking hustle in and try their signature sandwiches. At Thanksgiving time I get the Gobbler, which comes with all the traditional turkey and trimmings in a sandwich plus you get a special surprise! Gonna keep it a surprise but you'll see when you order it! Their signature Sloppy Joe is my all-time favorite. I've had it with pastrami and corned beef and both are dynamite. The service is on point deli counter take a ticket and be ready! The historic establishment will make you wonder if George Washington pulled up his horse and got a Sloppy Joe to go. There's a nice park behind the Deli if you want to eat with some greenery. Highly recommend!

Yelp
PROS: fresh ingredients and large size portions. Atmosphere is nice and staff are friendly while menu variety is plentiful. CONS: average price for sandwich is $14 when it shouldn't be more than $10. Scarce street parking that you must pay for OVERALL: great place to eat and if money is no object to you then definitely come here

Yelp
Just wow! This was my first time at Millburn Deli and I'm already planning my next trip I went on a Saturday morning and while it was a a bit busy (not really chaotic) and I was completely overwhelmed with all of the options (I made the decision to not look at the online menu ahead of time haha) the staff was super accommodating and nice. Also, really appreciate the whole grabbing a number when I first walk in. Reminds me of going to delis as a kid with my parents. My boyfriend ordered the hot pastrami and corned beef sloppy Joe and I got the Urban Cowboy. My sandwich was perfect. Honestly no notes. The bread was pressed really well (not too hard / not too soft) and the texture of the sweet slaw, pickles and brown sugar pastrami were perfect. I was a bit worried that the brown sugar pastrami would be too sweet but the acidity of the dill and the slaw cut through it and balanced it well! My boyfriend's sloppy Joe (which he got Monster style) was fully supported on the rye bread. He gave it a 7.3/10 and wished the meat stayed warm a bit longer. We heard that the iced tea is a must and it did not disappoint! We got a half gallon to enjoy at home. We also ordered a Godfadda sandwich to go so brb on that review. Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Over priced and mediocre at best. Sandwich half cold half warm. Slightly confused. .....

Yelp
I was in the area and picked up sandwiches for me and my boyfriend. I got the soprano and he made his own up. I was slightly disappointed with mine because I thought when it said grilled chicken it would be like a thicker chicken breast: instead it's slices like deli meat so i actually thought they got it wrong. Only realized it was correct looking at pictures on here. Overall the quality was good. My boyfriend's sandwich was good. They have the operations running very smoothly for pick up. A little annoying to park in the area but not their fault. I'd def return and try something else.

Susan O.

Yelp
Very sorry to say it is not as good as it used to be. Their delicious home-roasted turkey breast, homemade roast beef and baked Virginia ham are all different. They are now all commercial brands that are nowhere near as good as what they had before. From a customer who has gone there for many years, I am very disappointed! I'm hoping they will hear about this and return to the wonderful products that they had for so many years.
google avatar

Mike P.

Yelp
Clearly a cut above chain sandwiches, and that privilege comes with an associated price point. I'd advise ordering ahead online, as the in-store experience is chaotic at peak times. If you're not prepared with your order when your number is called, things get..."testy." Parking is tough. It's located in the heart of downtown, and it can be tricky to find a spot in the lot or in the street. There's a reason it's been here so long. It's a staple of the community. You're sure to find an option you'll like, be that from their vast menu of classic sandwiches, or one of your own creation. They're also doing soups, salads, etc.

Yelp
I came on an off hour on a holiday so lucky for me, there was no line and I was serve right away. Upon entering, I was greeted with a nice welcome and that right there garners a love of points because rarely does a place this iconic ever have super nice people. I got the Three's Company which I was jonesing for and as usual, it hit the spot! I just love the marriage of flavors! LOTS to choose from. Grab & go. Kinda pricey but the flavors all there. You just can't go wrong.

Yelp
Breakfast samich (tayloreggandcheese) , eggsalad on bagel, and a pastrami w swiss.. solid solid solid.. strong 4

Yelp
Heard about this place for a while and so I had to try. Everything looked fresh and the store was spotless. I ordered the gobbler and when you do the staff shouts "gobbler" in unison. Interesting. The sandwich was delicious and it just works. Must order when there. They had all sorts of things including a salad area. So good. This place lived up to the hype and the price was decent. Check it out.

Yelp
INCREDIBLE!!! Such a fantastic sandwich shop. First time here, the two building layout is definitely interesting but it works! I've only had a handful of Reuben's in my life, always thinking the most recent is the best, and boy was this one was GOOD! The perfect ten was good as well. Overall a great experience, friendly staff, nice vibe, I'd come back if I wasn't visiting out of state!
google avatar

Aya E.

Yelp
Ordered: The Perfect Ten (~$15): rare roast beef, sharp provolone, tomato, arugula, and garlic mayo pressed on everything focaccia bread Aya's take: The Perfect Ten is in fact a perfect 10! I stopped by Millburn Deli on my way to the airport to have a quality sandwich to hold me during my flight. First of all, it smelled so good that I couldn't wait to get to my flight and ate half of it before I got to the airport. That's when I realized I should've got 2 sandwiches. Everything about it was perfection; the portion size of each ingredient, how all the ingredients came together, and how it surprisingly held well even hours later on the flight. Millburn Deli wasn't busy at all when I arrived at 10:30am on a Friday; I was pleasantly surprised at how colorful it was inside (their menu, their snacks, their drinks), how clean it was, and how efficient it was with all the helpful staff. This is hands down my new favorite deli/sandwich spot in North Jersey; I will be back!
google avatar

Sean M.

Yelp
I want to apologize for my last review when I looked back into my order it said that my order had gluten-free bread now I don't know how this happened because I didn't order gluten-free bread, but this was not Millburn Deli's fault if somehow DoorDash gluten-free bread or maybe it was my fault and for the first time in my life I clicked on gluten-free bread, but regardless, I love the Millburn Deli with all my heart
google avatar

John K.

Yelp
5 stars for sure!! Best sandwiches you will get in NJ! Very consistent. Thank you!
google avatar

Kailey N.

Yelp
Tried the Charlie from the Millburn Deli and it was great! I decided to share the sandwich since it was so big and I'm glad I did! It was a super filling and tasty sandwich. The shop itself is super cute. There are a ton of funny signs to read as you wait in line to place your order. Service was very quick and friendly. With gluten free, vegetarian, and pescatarian options, this deli is great for a group and super inclusive of dietary restrictions. I came to Millburn for a friend's performance at the Papermill Playhouse and I'll definitely be back here the next time I'm in Millburn.
google avatar

Yelp
Huge menu! So many choices and delicious sandwiches. I want to go back to try the salads. Everything was really yummy.

Yelp
Amazing deli!! Remember to take a number ticket as soon as you enter! You need a ticket to place your order!! So many options for sandwiches, pastas, salads and sweet treats! Outdoor dining and indoor dining available next building from where you order! It was a gorgeous spring day so we decided to pack our lunch and take a short walk to Taylor Park! Loved my chicken focaccia pesto sandwich!! Deli has several locations: MILLBURN MORRISTOWN MONTCLAIR WESTFIELD Metered street parking.

Yelp
Not sure what took me so long to come here. My friend spoke so highly about this place and I was in the area so decided to stop by. I read the reviews and heard the hype about the Turkey sloppy Joe and their homemade iced teas. That's exactly what I ordered, I also ordered the hail Cesar wrap for my mom. Mind you Im Not a huge fan of rye bread and just recently got into coleslaw. When I tell you the shock of how good this combination was, I was so surprised. All the flavors complimented one another so well I couldn't be any happier. I highly recommend this location they have a small parking lot on the side, outdoor seating and you can tell all of their ingredients are fresh. They also have some premade items in their fridge, salads and so much more. The iced tea was also a hit it was greatly balanced with flavors and so refreshing. I'm so glad they have other locations closer to me cannot wait to go back for more!

Yelp
Love me a REAL NJ sloppy Joe .... Best of the best. Ham sloppy Joe ... forget the rest. These are the legit ones. Been going for 50+ years and will keep going
google avatar

Alvin M.

Yelp
Very popular deli. Highly recommend ordering online or via phone and then coming to pickup. Delicious sandwiches. I personally love the godfadda. They also make in house amazing, perfectly sweet iced tea which pairs nicely with the sandwiches. This place is a lunch staple for locals.
google avatar

Jena M.

Yelp
Millburn Deli is my go to deli for my work lunch order. I was able to get my fiancé out here to try it and he loved it. The prices seem high, but it is worth every penny with the amount of meats you are getting on the sandwich. I always order the sloppy Joe, and no, it's not your regular sloppy Joe sandwich. It's a sandwich filled with your choice of cold cut, cheese, coleslaw and Russian dressing. The service was fast and friendly. I can't get enough of this deli!
google avatar

Rachel S.

Yelp
This local favorite has the best (and biggest) sandwiches. Always fresh and satisfying. Don't forget their ice tea.
google avatar

Samuel J.

Yelp
Extremely overpriced. Picked up a tuscan sandwich for $17 was nothing special or big enough to justify the price. Middle schoolers working there were annoying to deal with.
google avatar

Kyle R.

Yelp
Absolute must anytime I'm remotely in the area! Every year around thanksgiving the gobbler is a stapler and really the only way I actually enjoy eating cranberry sauce. Sloppy Joe blew my mind and can't believe it took me this long to try it. Cubano was underrated but I think I just went in with very high expectations from the last one I had in Miami. Can't compare.
google avatar

Elaine W.

Yelp
I don't know why but I have a thing for Thanksgiving sandwiches. So when I found out about The Gobbler being available at Millburn Deli, I just had to make a visit! I've now been to this deli at least 10x and each time I've only ever tried The Gobbler. The sandwich typically comes on rye but I always ask for it to be on white bread. The Gobbler comes with turkey, cranberry sauce, stuffing, lettuce, mayo, and black pepper. I mean to try the other specialty sandwiches, but I can't just ever convince myself not to get this Thanksgiving sandwich. Staff is also always seeming to be in a great mood, the place also offers a variety of chips and drinks and baked goods. And after you order your food, your either eat outdoors, as they have several tables outside, or in the place next door where they have booths that you can sit at. And now as I finish my review, I find myself craving for another Gobbler.

John B.

Yelp
The best Joe sandwich in all of new jersey. Can't be beat!! Not even from our friends in south orange.
google avatar

Ross C.

Yelp
A very good sloppy joe and a pleasant outdoor area to munch it down in downtown Millburn. I am partial to some of its competitors, yet I will say that amongst its cohort of North NJ competitors, Millburn deli is a fine choice.
google avatar

Stephanie K.

Yelp
This deli is perfect for a build your own salad ! They have many options of toppings and dressings. They also have a range of variety for sandwiches but I usually just order their salads. (Salad Queen) Salad : you choose a base : kale, spinach , romaine , iceberg etc. Then you choose toppings, such as Meat, Cheese, Garnishments, dressing, etc This deli is very pricey so be prepared to spend 15-25 for a salad. Because they charge $ per meat, per topping ! (But it is all worth it) This deli is located in a busy business area but the deli has a small parking lot and street parking . My Order: SALAD- Kale base , onions , peppers , dried tomatoes, artichoke, chickpeas, beets, mushrooms, olives, cucumbers, carrots.

Elizabeth F.

Yelp
Best Sloppy Joe's in NJ - my nephew who hasn't been in the area for many years said his pastrami Joe was as good as he remembered. the staff is very polite and friendly.
google avatar

Eric S.

Yelp
An old coworker of mine used to rave about the sloppy Joe sandwiches from this place and for good reason. They really are delicious! We used to make him stop there whenever possible for lunch. To be honest, it's hard to say which I enjoy the best, but my go to is the roast beef. The staff behind the counter are always on point and ready to take your order. Sometimes it's hard to decide with so many great options. Not just the sloppy Joe's are great, they have some awesome specials all the time. Looking forward to my next visit.
google avatar

David P.

Yelp
Really great food, really obnoxious and fairly unfriendly or indifferent staff on main side of restaurant. aiming to be a New York Style deli, without the real New Yorkers - the attitude is noteably misplaced.
google avatar

Rob D.

Yelp
Went yesterday after seeing someone post about it on instagram. I happened to be around the neighborhood so gave it a try. I got the honey maple turkey sloppy Joe. It was excellent! The homemade bottled iced tea is very good too. This will be my go to lunch spot when I'm the area.

Cindy M.

Yelp
Not up to usual standard since expansion. Sloppy joes are usually amazing. Now very skimpy on meat and very heavy on dressing and slaw. Even the chicken sandwich has slipped on mayo. Not worth the price increase. Don't expand and raise prices if you can't deliver same quality. My "go to" is off the list.
google avatar

Libby W.

Yelp
Ordered all the way from Seattle via Goldbelly. The Godfadda was good but the NJ Sloppy Joes were nothing short of divine. We had one Joe with smoked turkey and one Joe with ham. It doesn't matter which meat you choose because what really made the sandwiches was the house made coleslaw, the bread, the thin slice of the meat, and the perfect ratio of each component. Both the smoked turkey and the ham were delish. I know this craving will hit again, and I will be ordering from here again when it does (unless Seattle finally figures out how to make a proper east coast sandwich).
google avatar

Meredith S.

Yelp
Anytime I'm in northern NJ, I am making a stop at my hometown deli. Customers will literally cut you in line to order a delicious sandwich from here. Never disappoints. Highly recommend-- the beloved Millburn deli!

Tammy L.

Yelp
Delicious sandwiches and super-fast service. The menu is huge and the combinations of bread, meat, cheese and sauce in each one is unique. Hard decision to make but all good. Next time I want to try something pressed.

Richard Y.

Yelp
Good sandwiches, wife likes the salad as well. Basic chick is underrated sandwich: tasty and healthy with a crunch from veggies

Sharon P.

Yelp
Believe your food is excellent. FYI, mgmt./ owner, not hiding., Since the pandemic and you received state and federal $$$, (how much? You never had to close and expanded to Morristown, NJ. Why are your sandwiches 1/4 lb. smaller with meat but charging a bit more? Cheese on sandwiches are thinner so put some more cheese on the sandwiches ... current now $13.95 or &14.95. To get your regular style sandwiches for over 25 years, customers just pay the $3-4.00 upcharge, now $16.95 or more. Currently all about the bread with less fillings. Remember from years ago, sandwich was great with even thicker slices of tomatoes. Pay attention to the little slab of condiments and now, one only gets one pickle chip. Add'l. Charge for another pickle chip. I was in there four times there past two months, Good luck! The Millburn High schoolers like walking to your establishment and purchasing a snack/sandwich after school.

Mrs. B.

Yelp
Turkey sloppy Joe was amazing. Ordered online and it was easy and accurate Very clean!

E J.

Yelp
An institution. Fantastic sandwiches that never disappoint. Easy to order takeout online although pickup can be a bit tricky at times if one is driving there alone. But sandwiches never fail. The Godfather is always popular but the also do good roast beef sandwiches.
google avatar

Jerry G.

Yelp
The deli has a sandwich for everyone. Fresh ingredients is their winning formula and premium bread. However, if a customer desires a slice of pickle they intended to order but didn't-it takes a negotiation to convince them to add it without a ridiculous charge. SMH.
google avatar

Carlos A.

Yelp
Amazing food! Home of the best classic "NJ Sloppy Joe". I rarely venture to other items on the menu, but they've always been fantastic. Their free parking lot is convenient but usually jam packed. I always go with someone who can run in while I loiter and double park if necessary. Definitely order ahead on the app if you can. There is an excellent reason why this place is always so busy!

Tianna R.

Yelp
in love with the mom chipotle chicken cheese steak ! so Dam GOOD MAN ! Also the blazon' hot honey yummmmmyyyyyyyy ! Best deli in New Jersey!
