2025’s Best Bakeries Continued to Get Personal | Eater

"In Honolulu I saw Mille Fête balance innovation and nostalgia under Katherine Yang and Robynne Maii, celebrating Asian American bakery legacies while leaning into local tropical flavors. Yang brings flaky Taiwanese pastries like the taiyang (sunshine pastry) and folds calamansi into delicate spritz cookies, while the bakery’s shelves hold roasted pineapple coffee cakes, kimchi Reuben hand pies, baked Spam bao with Chinese mustard (a nod to the Pineapple Room), mango ʻulu bread, and the memorable POG layer cake — all presented in a muted, minimalist interior and backed by a reputation strong enough to draw supporters like Gail Simmons." - Nicole Fellah

There’s a reason this James Beard–winning pastry chef has buzz. Mille Fête is chic, welcoming, and filled with pastries that look like works of art 🤌🏽 The staff was sweet and patient while I took forever deciding. I went with the pumpkin crunch whoopie pie (soft, creamy, not too sweet - THE perfect fall vibes 🎃) and a cinnamon coffee that paired beautifully. Every bite felt elevated yet comforting, with that uniquely Hawaiian flavor flair. I’ll absolutely be back to try more pastries. This spot is worth it!

This is a bakery started by the owner of Fete, a very popular restaurant downtown. I'd been wanting to go ever since it opened, so I finally stopped by on a Sunday afternoon. There isn't a lot of seating, but there were only about three other groups, so I was able to get a table. I was really curious about the cake, but it was a bit pricey at $16, so I got some regular bread instead. The shop has a very clean, stylish, and cozy atmosphere. Next time, I'll have to be brave enough to buy the $16 cake!

Amazing bakery! It's great that you can get all your favorite Fete spreads and desserts right here to take with you, plus a ton of even better options. And they keep coming out with new treats all the time. They're so nice with exceptional service and wide open bar seating areas.

Glad I finally got to try Fête's bakery! We've had their phenomenal POG wedding cake at Fête before, and while definitely expensive at ~$16 a slice, it's really quite good- a visible labor of love with all the intricate layers of filling, that genuinely have all the distinct flavors of POG, while miraculously not being too sweet with all the frosting. Dare I say my favorite layer cake I've had on island! Today we tried their Ludovico chicken pot pie and it was very filling and quite lovely warmed up with a flaky buttery crust. Especially appreciated how peppery the seasoning was. Staff are so, so sweet and the seating inside is quite nice. Looking forward to trying other cakes and pastries next time!

We stopped in here after a long flight from Atlanta while searching for a quick afternoon bite. It was exactly what we were looking for! The Roasted Pineapple Coffee Cake was phenomenal, not overly sweet, not dry, and light yet filling. The Classic Bell was awesome. We were recommended to eat it cold which was a great tip. The presentation of all their pastries highlighted the quality and attention to detail - everything looked delicious, and the staff was lovely and very welcoming. I highly recommend if you’re in area.

We were in Chinatown on a Sunday to purchase some custard tarts for a family gathering and decided to check out all the buzz about a new "I don't know what you would call this new establishment..,Mille Fete. As soon as you walk in this place it has a very relaxing vibe and the employees were very nice and helpful in navigating the very interesting menu. This place reminds me of a high end bakery in New York, a deli okazuya in Liliha infusing "local style" flavors beloved by kamaaina and like a place you would get a specialty drink from. I was intrigued by the baked spam bao, BUT what really pleasantly surprised me were these 3 items that I will most likely get everytime I come here...First, the Ludovico curry chicken sandwich was the BEST! The bread was unbelievable but the curry chicken salad was crazy good. Then we tried the black & lilikoi cookie...It was like drop the mic good....BUT here is the kick in the ass....We tried the Chinatown Coffee Soda..You know it happens every once in a while when you travel abroad or go to a new eating establishment when you experience something so different you kinda do a double take...well this was it..Anyway if your in Chinatown on Oahu and you don't mind battling the parking situation you have to try this place, you'll be happy you did...

I lived on O’ahu for 6 years and I haven’t tried a better pastry than here. It’s a legitimate reason to move back to Hawai’i. Kind woman who works there recommended me to try their potato salad Bao and it blew my mind. Mahalo for opening this bakery. 100/10!!

Google
Cannot say enough good things about this wonderful place- the food was delicious ( you will want to try everything here) the ladies working here are so lovely and a beautiful space. Thank you for one of our best Honolulu experiences!

Yelp
Architecture, design, the entire lot so grateful they created this elevated bakery in Chinatown that I could bring for extra special treats for those extraordinary celebrations. Going in the afternoon was such a breeze. I can only imagine how packed this place gets and the heavy foot traffic it receives during the mornings and weekends. Shoutout to Amira and the entire crew. Can't wait to come back again :)

Yelp
Found this little spot after having lunch in Downtown. This bakery is the same bakery that Fete uses for their bread. They also have sweets that are made in house. The lovely lady behind the counter offered us samples of their ice cream. Hubs got the Kulolo, and I went with the maple bourbon. We each got a scoop, and I will just say that a "Scoop" is not a scoop that would be expected, it was downright huge! Very generous and we asked for lids as we weren't able to finish the scoop. Great vibe, there were folks sitting in the seating area enjoying their treats and hanging out with their pup. There is seating facing the street and out in front of the storefront.

Yelp
Ever since late February, when Mille Fête Bakery opened in Chinatown, I've longed to experience the sumptuous baked goods by chef Robynne Maui, the chef/owner of Fête, a modern American restaurant, and winner of the 2022 James Beard Award for Best Chef of the Northwest & Pacific, and collaborator, New York City's gourmet pastissier partner, Katherine Yang. However, I finally made it to Chinatown this past week with my visiting relatives to try this new bakery. Upon entry into the extensively renovated former space of the 20+ year old restaurant, Little Village Noodle, we were struck by the sparkling glass pastry display cases, bright white walls featuring their beverages/frozen treats menu and baked goods (cakes, cookies, breads, and sandwiches) menu, banquet seating with small tables, a dine-in countertop with stools facing the large picture windows overlooking Smith Street. Behind the counter, a cheerful female worker greeted us and pointed out the refrigerated display case, with rotating ice cream or sorbet pints starting on the far right. We followed her along the display case as she pointed out their savory pastries, such as the Ludovico Chicken Hand Pies and Kimchi Reuben Hand Pies, leading to sweet treats such as the Pistachio Pineapple Coffee Cake, Pear Cranberry Calamansi Loaf, and Black & Liliko'i Cookies. After we decided on several pastries to go, we stayed and sat at the counter, where my brothers-in-law rehydrated with iced beverages while enjoying the cool, air-conditioned space. We ran into Chuck Bussler, chef Robynne Maii's husband, whom we met years ago while dining at their nearby Chinatown restaurant, Fête. Mr. Bussler was enthusiastic and beaming with pride as we congratulated him on his wife's James Beard Award win, opening this bakery, and maintaining their highly rated modern American restaurant, Fête. We decided to get the Ludovico Chicken Hand Pie, which is a tasty chicken pot pie filled with tender pasture-raised chicken in a creamy white sauce, complete with peas and carrots. It was a good thing that we cut them open before taking a bite, as my husband, who doesn't care for the taste of peas, managed to pick them out. $7. The other Kimchi Reuben Hand Pie was filled with mildly spiced gochugaru, tender corned beef dice, and pieces of kimchi cabbage. Its outside flaky crust was generously sprinkled with toasted sesame seeds. $7 However, my eyes caught sight of moist loaf slices of Pear-Cranberry and Calamansi, priced at $5 each. Mille Fête adapted the colorful, seasonal baked fruit quick bread slices to local tastes by adding calamansi, or Philippine Lime/Lemon. Each slice was glazed with a soft and not cloyingly sweet brown sugar icing. I couldn't wait to dig into this quick bread even though I was stuffed full with breakfast while sitting in the bakery. We're looking forward to returning to try a sandwich or other pastries with either a hot or cold beverage while relaxing in the bakery. The high quality ingredients, delicious flavors and perfect tender textures call out to us.

Yelp
Whenever I am in town grabbing an iced matcha from one of my favorites next door or dining up the street, have to stop by Mille Fete. Whether I say I'm only going to show guests the bakery or if I know I will buy one or two of my favorite "cake sale", I seem to always end up with more! Today Robyn Mai, Owner of Mille Fete and Fete Restaurant up the street was introducing me to the many wonderful breads baked there. Ended up taking out a gigantuous loaf of sour dough bread and two cake sale. Lol. Have also tried just about everything in the showcase. My sweet treat favorite is the olive oil citrus cake. Bursting with flavor, you will want a cup of coffee or tea close by to compliment. Also love the bubo cookies. Space is bright and inviting with the largest picture windows. Often decorated for the season. Beautiful Christmas trees decorated and line the entrance. Parking can be a challenge. There are a handful of metered parking just outside of bakery. There is also a municipal parking lot just a short half block away accessed on South Beretania St. And I am told that if you are going to just pickup your treasures to go, you can pull into one of their stalls in back. "I am only going to look" are words not to be taken too seriously here!

Yelp
Mille Fete, which translates to "a thousand celebrations," is a new bakery in Honolulu's Chinatown, which opened in February 2025. It is a collaboration between James Beard award-winning chef Robynne Maii of Fête restaurant and pastry chef Katherine Yang. Our cashier was very nice, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond in every way. She explained all the different pastries and desserts. They had cake, a black and white lilikoi (passion fruit) cookie, and empanadas. She informed us Mille Fete has a sister restaurant down the street, called Fete. Everything was fresh and the pastries were all so beautiful... I wanted to get everything! Lol. However, I was planning to eat my way through Chinatown and only ended up getting one pastry. I got the Citrus Olive Oil cake, which blew my mind! It was the best citrus olive oil cake I've ever had. It was topped with candied calamansi. We also got some coffee and coffee/soda drinks, and the carbonation provided an interesting contrast to the coffee. Our cashier even sat down and provided suggestions on what to do in Chinatown. Thank you for suggesting the Iolani Palace! We went and definitely enjoyed it. I look forward to coming back to Mille Fete the next time I am in Honolulu, and trying out Fete for lunch or dinner. Happy eating!

Yelp
A nice bakery on Smith St, in Chinatown, that fits nicely next to Poai by Pono Potions. At this time there is a nice selection of creative and unique savories and sweets, along with refreshing tipples of coffee and tea. In the works is an eventual offering of natural wines and maybe some amaro along with some small bites in the evening. Mille Fête is a collaboration with Chef Robynne Maii of Fête and Gigi Blue NYC's Katherine Yang. Most people know about Yang's outrageously priced POG cake slice, but there a a couple of reasonably priced creations that reflect her time in NYC. One, a Chocolate Peanut Butter Whistle, is like a dipped candy bar square. It is really good and really bad for you (in a good way). If I buy a few, I will consume them in one sitting. No sharing. Another is a local version of a black and white, a quintessential NYC treat. A cake cookie base covered with dark chocolate and tart lilikoi fondant icing, called a Black and Lilikoi Cookie. The flavors are good but the softness of the cake-like cookie means I will only eat a part of one at a time. For local flavors their quick breads are good. Currently, they have a Mango Ulu Bread. These a nice thick slices and they are great with coffee. For local savory the Ludovico Curry Chicken Sandwich or Ludovico Chicken Pot Hand Pie are favorites of mine. It is a beautiful clean spot filled with pre-packaged goods and nicely displayed sweets and savories. I would like it better if I felt more appreciated here. The regular front-line workers are a very warm and courteous bunch. However, I have frequently seen Chef Robynne, her husband Chuck, or Katherine up front talking to someone who knows them and totally ignoring everyone else. When the owners won't say hello to you or show some appreciation for your business, it is hard to make Mille Fête a regular stop.

Yelp
I walked to Mille Fete Wednesday afternoon to try and ease my sweet tooth. I had tried some of their items when I went to dinner at Fete recently and thought it was great so I was excited to visit their standalone store. It's located just around the corner from Fete. When I entered I was greeted immediately with a smile by a very sweet worker and an offer to explain their items available. She walked me through the different cases and gave explanations on each of them. She was so nice and helpful and helped me decide which items. My budget was $15 so I could either get their famous POG layer cake for $13 or 3 smaller items. I went with the 3 items so I could try a variety of their items to get a good idea, plus $13 for 3 items is very reasonable for here. I got the likikoi and chocolate cookie (modeled after the NYC black and white cookie), a pumpkin crunch whoopie pie, and a savory Japanese potato salad bun. Everything was excellent! I loved the tart balance of the lilikoi cookie. The seasonal whoopie pie was so good too, the filling was not too sweet and made with cream cheese, 10/10. The Japanese potato salad bun was also excellent, the bread was so soft and fluffy. The potato salad filling could maybe use a little bit more salt but otherwise no notes. The space is welcoming, clean, and modern with several tables for seating and a couple of benches outside. I want to come back and buy their bread (they sell their leftover bread on markdown!) and there's also lots of ice cream and drink options I want to try.

Yelp
09/08/25-update. It's been awhile since my last visit here. I noticed a number of new items being offered here. Mille Fete is welcoming, clean and has a modern upbeat ambiance. Service is efficient and personable. 5/5 stars. There was no line at the time of our visit. We just had lunch at Fete, which is nearby. My sisters and I walked over to Mille Fete. I picked up calamansi spritz cookies, a Ludovico Chicken hand pie, a Lili bell ( Lilikoi flavored ), a black & Liliko'i cookie, and a Honey Angel biscuit. The calamansi cookie is one of my favorites. 5/5 stars. The black & Liliko'i cookie is a play on the black & white cookie. The cookie was a soft in texture and the flavor was interesting. 3/5 stars. The hand pie was amply filled with chicken and a bit on the dry side. I wish the filling had carrots or other vegetables inside. The pie crust was flaky and perfect. 3/5 stars. This was my dinner. Reheated in an air fryer is recommended. The rest of the items are for later. A repeat visit is in the future.

Yelp
First time trying this out since seeing them advertised on a magazine (can't remember which one tho - maybe Honolulu Eater). Since I have a sweet tooth, I figured I'd try them out. Cute store. Fairly quick service as it wasn't busy when I came by (Thursday afternoon) Overall it was good but for the price, I expected to be wowed. Tried a few items -chocolate peanut butter whistles, pumpkin whoopie pie, lilikoi and classic belles, honey angel biscuit, and banana butterscotch budino. The belles remind of the devils foods cakes (ie ring dings, etc) from childhood. Kind of like a gourmet ish version. They were good but again I expected something better for the price. The best one was probably the honey angel biscuit. It's a muffin but a biscuit. Pretty creative IMO. Tastes good as well. Maybe I'll try the other items on the menu.

Yelp
I've been meaning to write my review of Millie Fete for a while, but I wanted to let the experience sit with me. Overall, I like the concept of the food, the place is beautifully designed, but I wasn't fond of the flavors. I got a number if items, as I have a sweet tooth, including the PB whistles, chocolate cookie pack, and their twist on the black and white cookie. Truthfully, chocolate and lilikoi is an odd combo, though if you like chocolate and orange, you're probably okay with it. The whistles were my favorite. I also got the Spritz which were lacking in zing. At the price point, I expected to be wowed. I am disappointed that I wasn't, but give them a try. You might be.

Yelp
Hip downtown bakery, offering fusion goods. Lilikoi cookie and kimchee Ruben were two of the better things we ordered. Friendly service. Clean and bright interior. Prices are not cheap but it's a nice treat.
google avatar

Carrie G.

Yelp
I want to love this place but it's mediocre at best. Sorry not sorry. The half and half cookie was a soggy mess with a glaze that was gross to eat. The chocolate was really dense and not very enjoyable (stuck to my teeth) and the lilikoi glaze was an interesting touch but not enough to save the cookie. I was hopeful they'd mail this since they claim their "Brooklyn" roots. Nope. The savory umami bun thing was super greasy and dense. Like an artery clogging rock sitting on my stomach giving me heartburn. I went there another time and got 2 things that o can't remember exactly what they were but I do remember thinking I only liked 1 of them. Liking 1 out of 4 pastries are bad odds.

Yelp
Reviewing again about their drinks. Wow I was so impressed with the Chinatown Coffee Soda that I had here! So refreshing and unique with no dairy so it was easy on the stomach! It was remnant of a cold brew yet it was so flavorful :o and yet fizzy? Definitely will be one of my go-to orders. Also sampled the Mr. M Iced Coffee - which was their take on a Vietnamese coffee. Also super delish. Their drinks AND baked goods are amazing. Interior was so bright, clean and inviting per usual, and service was super kind and sweet. They do a great job here. Definitely my go-to spot in Chinatown whenever I'm in the area.
google avatar

Christina H.

Yelp
Everything I ordered was amazing! The staff are all very friendly & helpful! The Lili Bells (chocolate cake with Lillikoi mouse) and POG cake were my favorites. But the Black & Lillikoi cookies and Banana Butterscotch Hand pies were close behind. They also have savory treats. Mr M's coffee was a nice treat too! Parking in Chinatown is on the street and can sometimes be difficult.
google avatar

Ana Z.

Yelp
WOW--this POG cake was absolutely delicious! You can taste every single layer in each bite. What surprised me most were the pieces of fruit inside--the burst of juice from the fruit made every bite even better. I even came back before my flight to grab some pastries for my friend, and she loved them! Friendly service, very welcoming and even answered any questions I may have.

Yelp
If there's one thing about me... it's that I love a bakery. And it's bakeries like these that really remind me of my love for pastry. Located in Chinatown, Honolulu -- Mille Fete is like stepping into a whole new world where everything is delicious. The space is bright, clean, and perfect for people watching. Not only is the space beautiful, but everything behind the glass looked like edible art. I couldn't decide between savory and sweet and decided to get both! Getting a chicken sandwich from a bakery might sound crazy -- but it was so good! From the bread, fresh veggies and flavorful curried chicken- this is my ideal sandwich. For our sweet treat we went with the ulu bread. There was something so homey, like it was baked by a friend or family member -- but that ulu really took it to the next level. I can't wait to go back and try more!
google avatar

Andy D.

Yelp
Not quite there yet, but they have the makings of a great location. There aren't enough outlets to stay and chill, but their teas and pastries are good, especially the savory ones. They do need a better choice of music and considering they serve ice cream (you won't know because they tuck it to the side), they could theoretically make a root beer/tea style "float". Definitely come for the Olena iced tea.
google avatar

Yelp
New bakery spot in Chinatown. I finally found a time to go try their baked goods and cake. Street and paid parking available. A few dining area inside and outside. There were savory and sweet pastry. I ordered two just to try it. Desserts were pretty expensive. - Chocolate rum cake $9- I really like this one because it was chocolate flavor! A hint of rum flavor. - Mango ulu bread $7- not a fan of it. It was really sweet. If I really want to treat myself, I will be back!

Yelp
Bougie. If I could leave a one-word Yelp review, that would be it. But unfortunately, the powers that be, have banned us all from such succulent brevity. Note, this is a coffee and cookie review, so I have no idea if the savory items are any good. Anywho, my dinner party got to Lucky Belly about 15 minutes early and they told us we could chill at the bar, hang out in the lobby, or come back on 15 minutes. So obviously we went to Mille Fete next door because, why wouldn't we? It was late in the day, so they didn't have much, but their Chinatown Coffee Soda peaked my better half's interest. She loves Yogurstory's coffee coke, which I find to be an abomination, but everyone can like different things. Surprisingly, it was smooth, flavorful and overall delicious. Mille Fete uses homemade cold brew, which is much less acidic and smooth like Jazz, along with a mild soda that lets the coffee shine. This drink is enough of a reason to come back. My friends seemed to share our sentiment on the Chinatown Coffee Soda as they happily finished theirs while munching down on a predinner snack of a Hawaii take on NYC's black and white cookies, where the white (more like slightly yellow) part was a lilikoi (passion fruit) style frosting. The few items remaining in the display cases looked good, but we were headed to dinner. So next time. Staff were very polite, fast, and kind as they didn't kick us out as they closed shop for the day. The store also sells Honoka'a Chocolate bars, which can be hard to find in other stores. The location is clean, well lit, modern, with a number of places to sit and enjoy your confectioneries and coffee. A bit pricey, but a nice splurge once in a while

Yelp
Our friends recently gifted us with some lovely pastries from Mille Fete and we were pleasantly surprised! We tried the Banana Butterscotch Hand Pie and Mango Ulu Bread. The hand pie had a crispy, flakey crust and a creamy butterscotch with bananas inside. The Mango Ulu Bread reminded me of banana bread -- not too sweet, not too dense, with a sugary mango icing on top. The packaging was also very elegant and thoughtful. I would LOVE to try their other pastries, as these two desserts had just the right balance of sweetness and richness with very unique fusion flavors.

Yelp
Today my nephew bought his own cake for his birthday. It was a POG cake he called it hmmm my first thoughts Interesting. It's was not bad for $120 cake yes that's the correct price it was passion fruit taste almost like the POG drink . Layered with Mandarin orange , Passion fruit , vanilla cake . I'm not really a big fan of passion fruit but it was ok Support local

Yelp
My Dad, a lover of all things baked goods, was quite fixated on Mille Fête. He, myself, and Li Y. stopped by on a weekend so I could see what it was all about. This bakery reminded me of those I found back in California, but with a local twist. Something about the environment drew me in. It's clean, spacious, and has so much natural light. There's comfortable seating inside so you can enjoy your goodies to go, which is what we did. The workers were all busy but helpful in terms of answering our questions. The display case is beautiful and quite large. My eyes were growing at every item I looked at. My Dad chose to order a couple of pastries for us, Robynne's Cake Gluten Free Chocolate Rum Raisin and Roasted Pineapple Coffee Cake. The Chocolate Rum Raisin was quite heavy. Lots of chocolate going on with the rum raisin flavor in the ganache. One bite was enough for me, but it's nice they offer a gluten-free option. My Dad enjoyed the Roasted Pineapple Coffee Cake. I wouldn't mind coming back to try their other baked goods. Mille Fête gives off a mainland bakery vibe with comparable prices. Their pastries are an ode to local flavors but are a hit or miss. Regardless, it's worth a trip if you're curious. The shop is off Smith Street with street or garage parking.

Yelp
Idk if my body forgave me after eating everything in the store. Elegant style pastry and coffee shop. A mix of flavors and culture wrapped up in one. Servers were welcoming and very helpful with my choices and what I have a taste for. All pastries (both savory & sweet) are so ono. Personal faves: -Kim Chee Reuben Hand Pie -Pistachio Pineapple Coffee Cake -Black & Lilikoi Cookie -Calamansi Spritz Cookie

Yelp
A charming bakery in Chinatown. Nice decorations, very clean looking and food well displayed. The service is excellent; everyone is so friendly and helpful. I tried two of their pastries; citrus olive oil cake and mango ulu bread. Both tasted good, not too sweet and very fresh. It was a little on the drier side and pricey. I would have preferred both to be more moist. There are so many other items on the menu its difficult to rate them on just two pastries. A lot of the savory choices looked delicious so I'll be coming back to try some of them. All in all, a very nice place to relax and take a break while looking around Chinatown.

Yelp
I was baffled by the yelp reviews. This spot is adorable, clean, and inspiring. The baked goods are delicious, not overstated and very delicate. Service was attentive, kind and quick. Is it expensive and small in portions? Yes. But is it worth it? Yes. Baking is wild and requires precision, vision and perfect, you get what you pay for. Definitely somewhere to try, and try again when you want to splurge on a baked goods. My favorite was this wild multilayered POG cake and these little chocolate treats that I think were called Lillie's or something? I could a million if my wallet and tummy could afford it. This is a definite yes for me.

Yelp
Snack in Chinatown, Honolulu, Hawaii... It's always fun to explore a Hot New Business with your bestie! Irene and I took our kids (BunBun, Cony, and Brown) to Mille Fete. We found metered street parking and walked into a clean, bright, spacious shop! We enjoyed the beautiful Congratulatory floral bouquets and the seating areas. We actually sat at the counter, along the window, and watched the traffic and pedestrians pass by. Thanks for the purse hooks under the counter! Cony, Brown, and I shared the moist, decadent Ulu Chocolate cake and a refreshing Blood Orange soda. It was a fun, delicious splurge! Thanks to the friendly, patient staff who helped us decide on what to order!

Yelp
Hot and new and super hyped up! I like their hours are open pretty late - it makes it easier to come down later in the day when most people are done galavanting around Chinatown. They are located near pono potions and is a cute little spot that's super bright and welcoming. I love that they're dog friendly too! The prices are kind of high for pastries - but I did try a pack of cookies for $10. It was just ok to me tho - if you like crunchy cookies then this is your jam. Luckily for me I don't have much of a sweet tooth.

Yelp
Something fresh and new... Chinatown has a new and exciting addition on Smith Street is Mille Fete and what a lovely spot as I walked in I just love the bright and fresh decor. The display case that holds majority of the items takes the center stage of it all with a variety of sweet and savory baked goods along with sandwich and the item I couldn't take my eyes off of is the POG Layer Cake as this stunning work of art is exactly that almost just to beautiful to devour which I did and it was worth every bite. I was hoping for some cookies as well but the one that I wanted was already sold out but pairing my cake I was surprised to see canned Mamaki Tea which was very nice and refreshing also gave me the balance I was hoping for as I savored each layer of the cake. The staff here is very friendly always ready to answer any of our questions though I wish that they have reuse able tableware for dine in items as eating out of a box for a $16 cake does make the vibe a bit more sad but in this cozy spot they do have a couple types of seating either at the plushy bench or the high top counter which I did like as I gazed out the window it was a great place to relax and enjoy your treat. Yelp
Mille Fête is a nice addition to downtown Honolulu's bakery scene, offering a variety of sweet and savory baked goods in a bright, modern space. Taking over the former Little Village Noodle Shop location, the bakery has a clean, minimalist aesthetic with natural light streaming in, bar seating along the large windows, and a few small tables and banquet seating. It's a comfortable spot to grab a bite and relax. Since they opened in late February, I've stopped by a couple of times to try different items. The Fête Country Sourdough was really delicious with a great texture, nice crust, and deep flavor. But, at $16 a loaf it's definitely a splurge, so I wouldn't buy it regularly (though my daughter loves it!). I also enjoyed the Kimchi Reuben Hand Pie. The pastry was flaky and crisp, and the filling had just the right balance of tangy kimchi and savory corned beef. It was a unique and tasty twist on a classic. The crispy chocolate chip cookies were not too sweet, with a satisfying crunch and very large chocolate chips that made each bite extra indulgent. The bubu cookies were also a fun treat and had a nice crispy buttery texture. The staff was friendly and helpful. Both times I visited there was no line and the space wasn't too crowded. However, there weren't too many items on the menu that caught my eye. Perhaps as the bakery is open longer, they'll increase their offerings.

Yelp
Stopped by Mille Fete around 2pm on a Monday. The shop is located near a paid public parking lot and metered street parking. We found parking pretty quickly and when we arrived at the shop it wasn't crowded. The shop had a bright, clean vibe and we were greeted with friendly service and a tasty little sample of their Cake Salé, which was a nice surprise. Service was lightning fast without feeling rushed. We were in and out in less than 5 minutes. Our order included: Classic Bell: Total nostalgia bomb. It's like a grown-up, classy version of a Hostess Ho Ho. Rich, chocolatey, and perfectly executed. It is recommend to keep it chilled if you don't plan to eat it right away. Ice Cream Sammy: Our favorite of the bunch. It was a crispy chocolate chip cookie with vanilla ice cream. The ice cream was a little icy in my opinion but still very indulgent with a lovely contrast of textures. Black & Lilikoi: An interesting take on the classic; it was tart, smooth, and tropical. If you like a pairing of chocolate and tangy fruit and cakey-er cookie, this one is for you. Citrus Olive Oil Cake: It had a moist crumb and was sweet from the citrus glaze. We really enjoyed the subtle hint of olive oil. I did eat the rest of it next day with coffee. Spam Bao & Japanese Potato Salad Bao: Unique and savory. The bao buns were soft and pillowy, and the fillings were creative without trying too hard. It would taste even better warmed up. Kimchi Reuben: Bold and flavorful! It's definitely for fans of strong, tangy, umami because it is a packed bite. I do recommend heating it up before enjoying. Banana-Butterscotch Hand Pie: Decadent and comforting. Sweet, but not over-the-top and the pastry dough was flakey and buttery. The best combo. We did see that they have a frozen kokua pack where you can take home frozen bao or hand pies to bake at home, and we will definitely get that next time. All in all, Mille Fete had high-quality bites, friendly staff, and an efficient experience.

Yelp
New, and from a James Beard award winning chef. Astronomical prices, ie $16 for a single slice of cake. It MUST be the best bakery in Hawaii. Nope. At least not today. The POG cake is in fact beautiful and IG worthy (except for my slice because the container it came in flipped in my trunk a few times). It is very moist and the different layers are sinfully good. I won't spoil the surprise about the layers. Try it yourself. The bubus (bubu arare cookies) are also very good. Crispy, buttery with just the right balance of sweet and salty but for $1 each for a cookie that is smaller than a silver dollar? Savory items are a disaster. Seriously, WTF? Take a very good bread, brush it with some kind of super sweet fruit glaze, stuff a thick, cold piece of Spam inside with some dijon mustard and pack the edges with salty cheese so the Spam won't fall out. A terrible tasting, poorly thought out "bao" that cost $8. How about use a different kind of Spam and cut it up like a manapua? Maybe use some brie or milder cheese that adds umami? Thought this was an award winning chef? The corned beef and kimchi Rueben is slightly better but so salty and doesn't match the lard based shell with sesame seeds all over. Two visits in three days. Would I go back? No.

Yelp
This spot is a gem! Everything I tried was phenomenal! The baked spam bao was comfort food with a unique twist! Crispy Spam, melty cheddar, and that mustard-naise went together so well. The chocolate bell was rich and indulgent without being too sweet. Think elevated Choco Pie with perfect balance! HOWEVER... the bubu cookie stack is the star of the show. Buttery, crispy, with just the right crunch from the Rice Krispies and bubu arare. I meant to have only a few... and finished the whole bag in one sitting. Addictive in the best way i would come back just for these. Great service, clean space, and unique flavors. I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
So beautiful and the staff is beyond amazing! Good luck to the sweetie off to Texas. Anyway the goods were lovely but sweet is the best bet! Savory was not my favorite but the Olive Oil Citrus cake was worthy of the visit! I didn't buy the bread but the milk bread looks amazing! Go here!

Yelp
It's a very charming cafe located in the heart of downtown right near lucky belly. There isn't much selections, but enough to give you a an elevated local taste. They have sweet and savory items ranging from cookies, ice cream, cakes, sandwiches and pot pies. When I went in the afternoon, I was lucky enough to get street parking right outside of the store. It wasn't busy and we were serviced quickly. The staff was helpful with telling us their recommendations and popular items. I got the kimchi reuben pot pie, chicken pot pie, ice cream cookie sandwich, and the lilikoi and dark chocolate cookie. They are decently priced for items that are used with locally sourced ingredients. The pot pies were delicious, full of flavor and were filled generously. The cookie was soft and the dark chocolate complimented the tart lilikoi. The ice cream sandwich had a strong taste of vanilla and the cookies were crispy! Overall, loved everything I got. The Cafe itself is very chic, there are a couple areas to chill and enjoy your treats. I definitely want to go back and try the drinks.

Yelp
We stopped by Mille Fête and tried the Chinatown Coffee Soda -- it was awesome! Super refreshing with the perfect balance of coffee flavor and fizz. We also got the lilikoi black and white cookie; it was tasty but a little on the tart side. Overall, a really nice spot with creative flavors and a fun local twist.

Yelp
Really chic bakery in Chinatown. I got the chicken pot pie and kimchi savory pastries along with the chocolate and lilikoi cookie. Everything was delicious! I also loved how cleans everything was and the worker that helped me with my order was really sweet, and explained all the items to me. I will definitely be back.

Yelp
We love the vibe of this place. It's bright and sunny. The display case of all the goodies is inviting and makes you want to eat everything. There is not much sitting space. We came for lunch and had the chicken curry salad sandwich. The flavor was really good . They had a nice selection of teas. They had this cake that looked amazing.

Yelp
Great bakery in Chinatown. Got their spam bao, calamansi cookie spritz, and pack of chocolate chip cookies. Love their decor in here. They have a good variety of savory and sweet treats here.

Yelp
I went to Mille Fete last month for the first time, weekday (off-peak). Easily walked in with no line and was able to browse the space and items in the display case. The shop has been beautifully renovated. Very modern, white and sleek. Lots of natural light coming in - completely transformed from the og Little Village Noodle House (rip). Everything is clearly displayed and laid out. Honestly though, the menu items weren't very appealing or impressive? I did get the POG cake slice ($16!), 2 kimchee reuben hand pies ($10 each!), the arare cookies, and a pint of the rocks road ice cream ($22!). Shout out to the workers there. They are friendly and sweet! POG cake is very good. Better eaten by the layers I think. The tart POG jelly was the best and the light vanilla bean cream. The kimchee reubens were not good. The kimchee was all sour and salt. No depth. And I kept trying to puzzle out if the corned beef complemented the kimchee. It was a weird combination of flavors. Maybe if they used bulgogi beef instead? And added some sort of white cheese? The idea looks good on paper but flavor profile was underwhelming and underdeveloped. The pie crust itself was enjoyable. But at $10 a pop, and so tiny! - to buy this for the enjoyable pie crust is not it. I never got to try the bubu cookies (arare mochi balls stuck in and around a thin sweet cookie) since it was a gift for a friend. Yet to hear back on their take. The calamansi spritz cookies and chocolate bells did not interest me, nor did the spam bao and potato salad bao (literally potato salad in a bun you can pay $7 for!). The RR ice cream was very richly cacao flavored which was nice (the exact ice cream from the restaurant side). But I don't think I'd pay $22 for a pint of it again. Speaking of menu prices - that is another big point of contention that I have. I understand this is a new establishment and overhead costs are high but I think they're taking a little advantage of the Fete name and hoping customers buy into the hype. They do have a good concept but the substance is severely lacking. Added one star for the POG cake but $16 is steep! I have friends hesitate on buying a slice just because of the price and were commenting on my ig story because they wanted my opinion first, if the taste was worth it.. that is very telling from a business perspective.

Yelp
Holy cow! I am shocked at how wonderful this place is! There's special parking for customers behind the shop, street parking, as well as a lot right next door, so plenty of close by spaces (which was great since I broke my toe this week and didn't want to walk far). The shop is adorable and smelled delightful. There was bar seating inside as well as chairs outside to enjoy your food and drink. The woman at the front was friendly, full of smiles, and helpful with every customer served. The male staff member bringing in supplies showed the same kind demeanor, which made me feel quite welcome in this shop. Now, the desserts: Everything looked amazing so it was almost impossible to choose! I ended up purchasing a to-go order of a coffee soda (life changer!), banana hand-pie (crust was incredible!), a citrus olive oil cake, a chocolate rum raisin cake, and a lillikoi chocolate cookie. I can't even describe how good they are, only my regret for not buying multiples of everything! I can't wait to go back and try everything else.

Yelp
It's a great spot to visit and try some of their sweet treats if you're ever in the area. Just a headsup....parking can be tough depending on the time you arrive. If it's your first time there, the staff will happily recommend what's worth trying. They suggested the cookies for me since they're unique, but we also tried the cake after seeing it on Instagram. If you're nearby, definitely check out this bakery.

Yelp
There have multiple been friends talking about Mille Fete in Chinatown so I decided to check it out since I was in the downtown area. I stopped by on a weekday before 11AM. The inside was clean and white. It felt high end. In the case, they had the Japanese potato salad bao, baked spam bao, kimchi reuben hand pie, calamansi spritz cookie, ulu chocolate cake, and the POG cake slice. I didn't look at the prices and I ordered based on what my friends said were popular. I got the baked spam bao, ulu chocolate cake, calamansi spritz cookie, and the bubu cookie stack. Out of the 4 things, the best one was the bubu cookie stack. The cookies were crispy and it was sweet and salty like bit of caramel were inside of it. I also liked the texture of the bubu arare sprinkled on top too. The ulu chocolate cake was too rich and there was booze in it. The person who sold it to me, didn't tell me there was rum raisin inside but I heard that now, they do disclose it. The baked spam bao had a thick piece of spam with cheese and it was alright, nothing special. The calamansi spritz cookie was alright too. Their prices are really high so be prepared to spend at least $8 on a pastry. The POG cake slice is $16 and that's too steep for me. One of these days when I feel like splurging, I may walk over and just eat that cake slice for lunch. For parking, it's metered street parking or paid parking in the small lot on Smith and N. Pauahi Street. The parking lot on the side of the building is reserved for Fete and Pono Potions and they put a cone in each of the stalls so you can't park in any of them. I think they should least have 1 or 2 spaces for people to pick up takeout because it is inconvenient when you don't have parking.

Yelp
While browsing around Chinatown several weeks back, decided to check out Mille Fete shortly after it opened. Clean, spacious interior that's aesthetically pleasing with excellent service--however, by the late afternoon, most of the display case was sold out. Tried the baked spam bao ($8 each), and the kimchi reuben hand pie ($10 each). The baked spam bao was alright, but seemed a bit lackluster--execution didn't seem to elevate the ingredients in a novel way, and the bun itself was a bit tough. On the other hand, the kimchi reuben hand pie was pretty tasty! But, for the steep price, it's unlikely that this will be our go-to place for baked goods. Although I would love to eventually taste the pog layer cake slice ($16 each), the price unfortunately doesn't seem commensurate to the size.

Yelp
Mille Fete is the kind of place that makes you curious just by name association. It's an offshoot of the well-loved Fete, and walking into the small, carefully curated space in Chinatown, you can feel the "this is where the good pastries are" energy. But what you get -- or at least what I got -- doesn't totally match the weight of that expectation I tried Robynne's chocolate rum raisin cake. At $9, this thing is about the size of a standard muffin. There's a smooth layer of ganache on top, giving it that rich, photo-ready sheen. The first bite is deeply chocolatey, with the raisin and rum notes lurking in the background -- noticeable, but not overpowering. The texture is moist, but just barely. In fact, toward the edges, it starts to lean dry, and for a pastry at this price point, that's disappointing. It's good, yes, but for $9? I wanted excellent I considered getting a coffee to round it out, but it looked like basic drip -- not bad, just uninspired. Honestly, this was a weak 4 stars. The kind of rating you give when the idea is better than the reality, and you still want to leave the door open for a better second visit
