Where to Drink Guinness in Central Florida This Holiday Season | Eater

"We’d be remiss not to include the venerable Miller’s Ale House on this list. This institution of sports-watching and happy-houring is the perfect place to post up with a Guinness and a big plate of wings. If you’re throwing an office holiday party, well, you probably won’t be the only one celebrating here. But that just means you’ll have more chances to meet more people over a pint." - Matthew Meltzer

This location was recommended by family and did not disappoint! We stopped by for dinner on our way to kayaking and everything was fantastic! We went with the spinach and artichoke dip, the prime burger and the ribs with the best mac and cheese I've ever had! Our server was also phenomenal!

Google
We visit Ale House at least once a week I don't know what's going on lately, that when I order *HOT* wings they bring out *Medium* sauce wings. There was also a tiny bug in pur salad. We went 3 weeks ago, and the first time the server said he would bring new wings, around 5 mins went by the bring the wings turns out they just mixed the previous medium sauce wings with Hot sauce. While waiting we asked for a side of *hot* sauce. When they bring the wings you can tell right away that the sauce they put was *medium* (again)!!! I asked for a Manager and asked if she can please tell me what sauce did the wings had she says *hot* when i show her the side of actual hot sauce she says that's also hot sauce, she then realizes there's a clear difference(color and texture) and offers to bring a new order of wings. Asked me if I wanted 6 or 12. I said I only need 6. I'm not going to be an abuser. She mentioned it was going to take a couple of minutes for the wings to come out, took 33 minutes!!! For 6 wings 😅🫠. Like 3 minutes before the brought the wings I tell our server, at this point I already have no appetite, please bring our check, and then magicly the wings come by. As someone that works in the Reataurant industry this seems a bit personal. I understand if they were busy or at least they would pretend to care and let us know "they are almost" out or something. They didn't charge us for the wings but it was an eeh experience,we've been going to this location for the past 3 years, from having bad service, they got waaay better this year until this experience we recently had. The host, bartender Zach and server Manny are always great. Hope kitchen/Management gets better training/communication/support to avoid this. Our server last week was good but she barely paid attention to tables, not only ours in her section In general. It's like if somehow they are relying on the tablets that are now on the tables that some servers don't put on effort to check on customers.

Google
I've been going to this place over 20 years. My old stomping grounds. I don't live in Orlando anymore, but every time I come to town, I always have to come here to get my favorite wings! 🍗🍗It's a great place to meet up with old friends and meet new ones. Ale House never fails to disappoint

Google
I had the quesadilla and it was delicious. Not the typical place I would order one, but it was a funny thing related to our weekend trip. Food was heavily packed with chicken that was juicy and came southwestern style with corn and beans. Plenty of southwestern style sauce as well. If they were in my area, I would definitely try them again and maybe get a burger or something next time 🙂

Google
It was my first time at a Millers Ale House, but I definitely loved it. They have a rather varied menu with many dishes that definitely sound delicious. The quality of the food is very, very good, I ordered one of their burgers and it was absolutely amazing. I hope to come back soon and try more dishes.

Google
want to give a huge thank you to Jason at Miller’s Ale House. Today was one of the hardest days of my life—I had just received the devastating news that my mom passed away in a car accident. Despite the heartbreak, Jason’s kindness, attentiveness, and genuine care made a difference I can’t fully put into words. He didn’t know what I was going through, but his service made my day a little more bearable. In a moment where I felt like everything was falling apart, his warmth reminded me that there are still good people out there. Thank you, Jason—you truly made an impact on me today.

Google
We had a couple appetizers this evening. The first being the famous mountain melt, chicken was actually cold as if it sat for a while before coming to the table. The chicken nachos were decent, they were just missing the jalapeños. Service was very attentive. Very good. The manager offered a free desert in return for the issues we had with our food, sad to say the desert wasn’t good at all. Don’t think I will be back to this location anytime soon.

Yelp
Went for Valentine's Day dinner with my daughter and had a great experience. Hostess with warm greeting. Thankful we were able to get sat right away. Amazing service too. Shoutout to Amber. Very attentive, on top of everything. Seems like nowadays good service is hit or miss and is the key ingredient to add value to the bill. Amber delivered! I don't even feel the rising costs on bills when the service is that good. Started with Mozzy sticks that had a great cheese pull. Cooked perfectly. Shout out chef! Zinger mountain melt and big red, key staples on the menu that I come in for. Just wanted to say great job to everyone on V-day! Chill vibes all around.

Yelp
My go too for football Sundays with hubby. Love their beer specials and wings. Service at this location is always good and fast. I love that everyone comes and can enjoy watching football together especially as a women. I am a die hard football girl !

Yelp
I went in for a quick lunch with some friends at the bar. The bartender was a morose robot who barely had any personality. The cheeseburger I ordered was pretty good. I had to run out to my car to unlock it for my friend who left something inside so I told him I would be right back. He must have figured I was dining and dashing so he insisted that I pay before going outside, no big deal. I dropped my credit card on the counter and told him I would be right back. By the time I came back everything was cleared away and I told him I wanted to finish my food. He ran into the kitchen to grab some consolation fries which I didn't really want. I won't waste another dollar at this overpriced chain restaurant. There are way better American taverns to eat at all over Winter Park and Orlando than Miller's. Don't bother with this place. It's nothing special.
google avatar

Heather L.

Yelp
This is best millers location around Orlando, plenty of room and great outdoor area! The food is standard and doesn't disappoint when you want salty bar food for a sports a day

Yelp
Ale House is always one of my go to's for bar food. Zingers are my fav item to order so when I got an email about the new Mountain Melt Madness I ran to Ale House. This location is less busy than others and one of the reasons I come here. Since we got there when it opened it was super quiet and spacious. Our server was just as excited as I was to order the new mountain melt. The Mountain Melt Madness is huge so bring a couple of friends to share all this goodness. The Mountain Melt Madness is a warm Bavarian Pretzel with creamy beer cheese, famous Zingers Mountain Melt® tossed in hot Buffalo sauce, gooey & melted cheese, green onion, and a stack of Mozzarella Sticks. Served with marinara sauce. Each layer was as good as the previous. The Melt Madness has a little bit of everything and all the flavors work well together. I washed it down with some green tea shots from the bar. To finish off this lunch I ordered a Peppermint Brownie Skillet with Vanilla Ice Cream. This skillet is huge and honestly about 4 people could share. Perfect dessert to kick off the holiday season. Such a great new appitizer I hope Ale House makes it a permanent staple.

Yelp
We have been to this Ale House a couple of times recently and have gotten the same server twice. Ella is a credit to this restaurant. She made our visits great both times and we look forward to going there again. The food was really good as well and our orders were done perfectly.

Yelp
Generally, I love Millers Ale House; I wouldn't say its my favorite place to go, but for the most part, they have never let me down until my most recent experiences at their Kirkman Rd & Winter Park/University store. This review reflects the Winter Park location. It was a mediocre Thursday evening and it wasn't too busy, so I'm not sure why service is lacking, maybe because it's next to Full Sail and they are used to serving the college crowed (not bashing college students, I just graduated again recently as well). There were five of us. One couple ordered a salmon fillet with rice, our fifth wheel got loaded fries, Nancy and I chose one of my personal favorites, the Big Red ($12.99) with fries, an add-on side of onion rings ($3.99), and an add-on house salad with blue cheese dressing ($2.49). Since it was still happy hour, we also ordered a Blue Moon ($5.99) and their house Margarita ($4.99). Our salads arrived in less than 10 minutes; however, we didn't realize until the food was dropped off that there was no silverware to eat with, so we had to wait a few more minutes to receive our utensils. Additionally, one of the salads was supposed to be a Caesar salad and the other house should have included ranch not blue cheese. Our server Marshall was nice enough to let us keep the house/Caesar salad mix-up at no additional cost. About 10-minutes later our main courses arrived, but once again we were missing things and our order was not correct. The Big Red did not arrive with fries, but onion rings instead. We wanted fries with the sandwich and onion rings as an add-on. Marshall said he would bring out a side for fries but we declined. We also were waiting for condiments, which we didn't receive until we were halfway through with our meal, Rat's! I also have to say that the Big Red is not as good as it used to be. I remember it being served as a much thicker piece of fried chicken, more sauce, and including lettuce, tomato, and onion. That's how I always received it at the Kirkman location, but since this is a chain, they are probably all the same. The service is what really killed it for us on this visit. Although Marshall was very pleasant, there were just too many issues. We began to focus more on the issues than the conversation and time together with our friends. When the bill came, we also noticed that the pricing Marshall told us for the beer and margarita specials were actually more than what he told us. It ended up turning into a he said/ she said scenario and I'm not about to argue and create a scene. All-in-all, this was a below average experience for me. The food was good, but the service lacking. I would return again if I was in a bind and nowhere else to go; however, there are many better options on this side of town.

Yelp
We came here December 2023 about 6:00 p.m.. there were not many people in the restaurant on the side that we were at. The food was good but the service was awful. Our waiter seemed very distracted. He didn't bring us any silverware. We ordered a Caesar salad and regular salad and he brought two regular salads. He miss quoted me the price on a margarita. He didn't bring us any knives to cut our salad or meal. We ordered onion rings and fries but he only brought us onion rings. We had a party of four. My husband and I split the big red chicken sandwich because we both were not real hungry. The chicken was good but I think last time it came with lettuce onion and tomato. This time it just came with a chicken cheese and bread. They did offer you a special sauce which was delicious. I had a side salad and onion rings. I don't think I would come to this one again on University in Winter Park. The one in Sanford is so much better.
google avatar

Lori G.

Yelp
I wouldn't say I'm a 'regular' at Ale House, but i tend to visit at least monthly. Since we were in the University & 436 area last night, we went to the University location for dinner last night. When we arrived, the bar was maybe a third full. We waited for about 8 minutes before a bartender was visible - and i did notice about 3-4 other's drinks were also empty. Appeared that the staff was light so i'm sure they were pulling some double duty even though it appeared there were a couple of managers hanging out. We ordered 2 Blue Moons which arrived nicely cold. My husband ordered their 12 oz Prime Rib and the Bartender inquired what sides he wanted. He said a baked potato (Bartender asked 'loaded'? and he said sure) and, when he asked what he wanted for the 2nd side, he said a salad. I ordered their Blackened Shrimp and Chicken Salad. His dinner salad arrived fairly quickly and was very good. His prime rib and loaded baked potato arrived as did my salad. Prime rib, while looking decent, was very grizzly especially on the end sections with the rest overly chewy. [He has had the Prime Rib at other locations and while not the best, they've always been at a minimum pretty ok.] Baked potato was very good. My salad was huge and was very enjoyable. When done, dishes were cleared and we requested our bill. In addition to the quality of the prime rib, we were very disappointed when we received our bill as we were charged an additional fee for the 'loaded' part of the baked potato and charged for a side salad. When we inquired, he informed us that if you get a potato 'loaded' there is an additional charge and that the Prime Rib only comes with one single side. I sure wish we knew about the 'loaded' charge even though we would have still ordered it that way, but why was he asked what he wanted for his 2nd side if it did not COME with a 2nd side? All in all, we probably will not return to this location as it was just disappointing. . . almost a 'duped' feeling.

Yelp
Food, service , have had birthday parties there Family when they come in out of town there it's awesome. They all like it.

Yelp
I am always hopeful that I will at least receive service that doesn't make me want to scream...this was not the case on this visit. The server was brand new and, unfortunately, too sensitive to listen to feedback. I understand that this is a teaching location, but that is still not an excuse. In addition to glaring mistakes, service was slow and at times forgetful. The kitchen was also struggling. There was something wrong with each of our orders; food temp, wrong item, microwaved things that shouldn't have been microwaved. The manager, I wish I had gotten her name, was the bright spot. She took care of each issue that came up without throwing out an excuse. No free food or discount was offered and that's okay...none was needed or wanted. The 2-stars given are absolutely due to her stepping up!

Yelp
Sometimes Millers just hits different. This location is perfect for Sunday after church as the crowds are low in the afternoon. This place really hypes up after dark with the location being adjacent to Full Sail University. The food is always hot and it doesn't take too long.
google avatar

Chanh N.

Yelp
Very friendly staff by the name of Annie. Great wings for the price and a nice atmosphere for a gathering
google avatar

Paul F.

Yelp
Never an issue at any location, I get service as soon as I'm seated. Cold beer, wings are decent priced compared to there places. They take care of multiple bills with no problem.
google avatar

Krissia G.

Yelp
Omg we decided to try the pill and pop donuts and All I can say is that they were delicious!!!!!
google avatar

Mark S.

Yelp
I like it - there is a large variety of food (something for everyone), decent specials and beer prices, and if you like sports you will find them on TVs everywhere. The place could use a little more sunshine (and cleaning), and the service could be a little faster, but I can see why Ale Houses are all over the place.
google avatar

Bonnie R.

Yelp
We met up with friends for dinner before going out to see Christmas lights. My boyfriend and I both ordered the salmon grilled with salads & cilantro lime rice. It was very good. I got the Caesar salad which I wasn't impressed with I prefer their house salad instead. Waiter was nice and took care of our group. Everyone seems pleased with their meals.

Sue C.

Yelp
It's 9:30 and I am finally eating my dinner.we arrive at 7:30 tons gut and placed our orders right away. My brother was served in a reasonable amount of time. After a substantial delay, brother #2 and I were served ice cold and tepid entrees. After 45 minutes my brother's remade chicken showed up (without French fries). I waited another 45 minutes and asked that my food be served "to go". My server was attentive, but the kitchen has real issues. I strongly sugggest eating somewhere else.
google avatar

Yelp
I think the ownership of Ale House has become complacent on quality & totally lost its vibe. The food is barely above fast food - likely below Chick-fil-a - with the overall quality being intolerable. And, it would be great if you could find a table that was clean and fresh so that your arms didn't stick to them. They all need to close up, renovate, and re-open with a new outlook and new staff. The way it used to be, the staff was trendy and always "fun" to talk to. Now, they are rushed, unprofessional and usually you have to wave them down to get ANYTHING. And by the way, I have heard many, many folks I know state the same thing about the Kirkman, Lake Buena Vista and the University locations. Such a shame when an great place decides to let itself fall through the floor.
google avatar

Jesse S.

Yelp
Things I witnessed tonight: 1. Nonexistent server. 2. Both prime ribs were way over cooked. 3. Manager guy vaping behind the wall inside the restaurant 4 . Host boy taking a deuce and not washing his hands Never again Never again.
google avatar

Ash W.

Yelp
I enjoy the millers chain, but have never been to this location. We we're having work done on our car and decided to stop in. We walked in and it was just dark and smelled musty. That's okay, I can deal with that. Anyway, we stood at the host stand for about 5 minutes, nobody, servers, bartenders, nobody even glanced at us. So, we decided to go sit at the bar. First thing I see is notes saying their tap beer is out. That's fine, we sit down and realize how warm it is. Again we sat for a few, not even a glance or anything from the bartender. So after sitting uncomfortably for a few more minutes, we decided to cut our losses and go somewhere else. We got up and left, not one person took the hint, or they just don't care.

Yelp
Food was very good. Ordered a burger and fries. Burger was cooked perfectly and fries were fresh. My ding on this place was the service at the bar. She was very pleasant but was unattentive until the end. Despite only 5 people at the bar, I felt she could have been more attentive. Napkins and silverware? When my food came She actually said I'll get you some napkins and then didn't. She looked at me spreading ketchup on my bun with a fry and didn't get me silverware. I had to get up and ask another server for napkins. I would have liked to had more to drink but as I didn't feel She was paying attention to me, I paced myself on my drink. Only when I finished did she ask me if I'd like a refill. Again she was very pleasant, just not attentive when it mattered. I'd go back

Cathy S.

Yelp
I wish I could give this location no stars. Every time we come here, we hope the service, the time it takes to get our food and the quality of the food has improved but NOOOOO. This location, for whatever reason, is horrible. Guess I have to start going to the Oviedo location or Colonial Plaza location.
google avatar

Lorena P.

Yelp
It's a fun place with a bar that offers many options. A little loud but it's great for sports fans. The zingers are always a good option and service in this location is second to none. Highly recommend.

Enrico D.

Yelp
Good lord! This place reeks of used cooking oil. Need to shut the whole building, kitchen and parking lot down and do a thorough cleaning. Who is managing this place??
google avatar

Susy A.

Yelp
Very nice people and fast service. Fajitas are great! Everything looks clean. Not that busy inside.
google avatar

Toni D.

Yelp
My last visit to the Miller Ale house wasn't great. The service was good, but the food could have been better. We ordered the fried shrimp, which tasted like it had been fried in dirty oil for too long. It was almost inedible. We also ordered the spinach dip, which was a little bland.
google avatar

Luci B.

Yelp
Great food, wonderful service. always busy cuz it's a good place but worth it. they also deliver late at night and the foods always perfect. would recommend for a friends or family dinner/lunch

Mayra C.

Yelp
Exceptional service with Peter! Food was amazing! 10/10. Fresh burger and crispy wings!
google avatar

Val B.

Yelp
Hosted sat people that arrived after us, the services was poor at best. Waitress took our beverage order once and only asked if we wanted another cocktail when she served our meals. Waitress served beer and split on the baby. Our foor was served, and we didn't get utensils. Food was cold by the time she brought the utensils to the table. Split check was wrong. NOT a place in go to again.
google avatar

Andres O.

Yelp
We attempted to eat at this place. But, since we were 11 people they couldn't accommodate us. They have a limit of 8 guest per table. We asked to sit the kids in one table and adults in another one. But, the manager refuse to do that because the kids were not paying for their own food!!!!!! - ridiculous- This is the first and last time we visit this food chain. Do not waste your time coming here- specially if you have more than 8 people in your Party. They'll turn you away!

Carol P.

Yelp
Food was okay. Asked for a side of cucumber and this is what I got (picture below) Service was not good. Had to ask for things numerous times. I really used to like Millers. What happened? So disappointing.
google avatar

Justin D.

Yelp
First time at this spot. We ordered drinks cool... Proceeded to order food. I requested Zinger Lasagna, but requested grilled zingers instead of breaded. I was told that the manager would not allow a substitution. I don't get it! He said they cannot make substitutions at all for this dish. Guess what I didn't get the dish. I preferred to leave, but my wife said lets at least get drinks and convinced me to get wings instead. This sucks, you mean to tell me you'd rather loose sales and customers over just putting non breaded chicken on a dish that comes with chicken. I'm so over Miller's already. I wont be back. My server was nice. Miller's gets two stars just because she was nice. The food was okay tasting my hot wings were wet and rubbery yuck. My lemon pepper were good. The margaritas were very salty.
google avatar

Melissa N.

Yelp
I will give them a 3.5 stars. Ale House is a franchise so pretty much all of them are the same. It's a loud sport bar that have big screens TVs everywhere and they served your typical bar food. Everyday they have a lunch and dinner special. The food isn't outstanding but I do prefer the breaded wings with the sweet Thai chili and the house salad. So far, the service has been superb. Last time, we visited we waited around 20 mins. I guess our waitress wasn't told she had another table. Once she came by, she apologized for the wait and promptly served us our dish. She was extremely attentive and sweet. By the way, they have cheap beers and cocktails!
google avatar

Jackie S.

Yelp
Not sure when they changed their menu but it's trash now. They got rid of their chicken nachos and replaced them with "Tex mex chicken nachos". They don't taste anything like the original and the serving is smaller.

Aubrey B.

Yelp
worst experience, i work in the industry so i know what it is like. This place is so unprofessional, sat down and had to leave 15 minutes later, due to not being helped. Servers passing our table going around the back to not pass us. Not more to say but very unprofessional.

Matri M.

Yelp
Wendy, I think her name is, isn't communicative in getting back with me, as customer. I asked to test some sauce and she failed to get back to me to let me know that it'd take some time. Left me wondering what the hell happened! I left without giving my business and went to a better service restaurant. There was also a problem with what I ordered despite me telling her beforehand!
google avatar

Ashley B.

Yelp
Food was good, prices were good too, server just was very attentive and hindered the experience. Usually enjoy my visits to Millers Ale house , but not today.

Louis I.

Yelp
Millers used to be a staple for years living in Orlando. We'd go at least once a month. But, as time has gone on, their standards have dropped while their prices have gone up. Now, the food (both quantity and quality) is severely lacking for the price, and the service is... lackluster at best, totally overwhelmed and incompetent at worst. Skip this chain and try one of the many great hole-in-the-wall indie restaurants nearby instead.
google avatar

Christina C.

Yelp
Been here a couple times. Sat once at the bar and once in a booth. Service has been good both times. Food has been mediocre. Both times were during the week, during lunch, and it hadn't been busy. First time I had the tomato bisque with a Cesar salad and a Blue Moon (tall) and it was really god. Second time I opted for the meatloaf and Bluemoon... could have done without the meatloaf. Came with mashed potatoes and mixed veggies which were both good. Meatloaf by itself without the gravy wasn't agreeing with my pallet or is it the other way around? Either way, I was not too pleased. To each their own, just wouldn't order it again. The flavor and texture was just off at certain bites. Regardless this location is always clean and staff is friendly and helpful.

Sue R.

Yelp
Had takeout tonight. Burger was awesome as always. So nice to have a place to grab & go on my way home from work on a weeknight.
google avatar

Jackie W.

Yelp
Your typical millers ale house. Came in around 5 on Sunday, but we were surprised that service was so slow. We ordered loaded fries and nachos as appetizers. Nachos are our go-to, and they were delicious: packed with chicken and all the goods. Fries were a bit lacking, as the cheese was dry and the fries were a bit soggy. For mains, the osso bucco was nice and tender, the build your own burger was quite dry and lacking seasoning, the 7 oz steak was nicely cooked, and the cheese flatbread had a very chewy crust and rubbery cheese.
google avatar

Kara M.

Yelp
I'm always a fan of Ale House. This specific location always has great service. My last visit here I sat at the outside bar, which has tables out there as well, not just the bar. I ordered the fried shrimp and my boyfriend ordered the veggie burger. Both delicious dishes! I encourage anyone to go during the week if they are looking for a great dinner special. They have Monday-Friday specials to choose from. They also have a late night special daily starting at 10-2am. Stop by! You won't regret it :D
google avatar

Yelp
This is our absolute favorite Ale House... the food quality is awesome and consistent every time. The servers are very good at what they do, and our absolute favorite one is Kylie. Her people skills are amazing making the overall experience so much more enjoyable. If I were ever to open up a restaurant she would be the first I would go after to work for me :-) Great food & Great Staff! :-)

Yelp
Ale house is my favorite restaurant!!! This is me and my boyfriends go to restaurant for dates. We are addicted to zinger mountain melts. You can get your zingers tossed in any flavor I specifically love it tossed in honey mustard and any sauce on the side my go to is ranch! They never disappoint me and my experience. Food comes out in a timely manner never had an issue. Everything is always clean and spotless. Customer service is top notch always! Overall I love ale house like I said it's my FAVORITE RESTAURANT without a doubt gets 5 golden stars!

Yelp
For the longest time I didn't even know there was an Ale House at this location. The parking isn't too bad but the entrance is in a weird spot. The food and service was good and they are abiding by COVID guidelines well.
google avatar

Tony F.

Yelp
Fast friendly service. Last night I had the steak and chicken fajitas and my sweetheart had the chicken tender salad. It did seem like we had to wait for a while for a dinner to be served but once it arrived it was worth the wait. Steak and fajitas with serve nice and hot and spot on the chicken tender salad was fresh and yummy. When we arrived it was not too busy but by the time we had our food the place had started to fill up. Located right next door to Full Sail University the atmosphere was very inviting fun and friendly.

Yelp
Ordered online and pulled into one of the curbside spots. A gentleman was bringing out an order soon after I parked, asked my name, & said he would bring my food out shortly. I was a little early than my pick up time so I was fine waiting, until I had waited 35 mins for 1 item. I finally go inside & find my order sitting on the table. Food was barely warm, so assuming it had been sitting there awhile. What's the point of curbside??? Tried to give feedback but I can't find the store code so decided yelp it is.

Yelp
This place might have gotten a better rating from me if my waiter was less of a douche . From the second he said hi he made me feel super awkward and I'm not shy- his presence just made me feel off . My fiancé agreed with me . Even our two year old tried to be nice to him and he was cold . My sirloin was 14.00 and for 10.00 at outback I could have gotten something tastier for cheaper . It wasn't bad . Just wasn't good . The singer melt sucked - it was like mashed potatoes inside undercooked fries with tenders that looked like shrimp . Meh. I couldn't wait to leave and that's not how I should feel when I shell out 60 bucks .
