"Visitors to Mackinac Island could spend an entire week eating at only the historic taverns up and down Main street and still never get to them all. From “The Mustang,” which claims to be “Michigan’s most historical tavern” to Patrick Doud’s Irish Pub, a brand new entrant in a freshly polished old space, there is no shortage of dining rooms where wood-paneled walls, tin ceilings, and vintage light fixtures harken back to an era where cars weren’t outlawed — they simply didn’t exist. One of the best of the bunch? Millie’s on Main. Servers clad in smart black-and-white gingham shirts bring slightly elevated pub fair akin to the gastropub craze. Think house-made meatloaf or panfried Great Lakes perch with capers, lemon, and white wine." - Stacey Brugeman

We had a great experience during our visit to Mackinac Island. The food was fresh and flavorful, we had their rosemary and lemon grilled chicken, and it was absolutely delicious. We also enjoyed a local beer that paired perfectly with the meal. What really made it special was the warm and welcoming staff. They were incredibly kind and even helped entertain our infant while we ate, which made our time there so much more relaxing and enjoyable. Highly recommend Millie’s for both the food and the genuine hospitality!

Google
We went to Millie’s on Main for my birthday on Friday (06/27) and had an amazing time. The atmosphere is cozy yet elevated. The food was amazing, everyone left full and happy, And Brooke, our server, was amazing. She never let our drinks go empty, was insanely friendly, and even brought out mashed potatoes shaped as icing for my birthday. Next time I go to Mackinac, Millie’s on Main is going to be a must to eat at.

Google
The ribs, burgers & white fish salad were all really good. They brew a good beer & make yummy cocktails.

Google
Nice little place on Mackinac Island. Stopped in for a quick lunch and despite being busy they were able to seat us quickly. Polite staff, great decor, clean, and most importantly great food.

Google
The cajun shrimp was excellent 👌🏾 The truffle fries are amazing ! Fish basket was good and large portion. Good service and nice interior

Google
Shared meatloaf sliders and they were very good. Kale salad was really good. Whitefish entree was good but sauce was a little too heavy. Waitress was friendly and very attentive. Glad we tried it! Very small & not many tables so we waited a long time.

Google
Very cool vine in what looks like an old saloon. We had the famous meatloaf which was delicious and perfect to feed two people. We also got the fried green beans which we HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Service is excellent. Give them a shot.

Stopped by with my husband and mother-in-law after touring the Mackinac Fort. It's located right by the carriage tour pick up by the info center. I had the sweet potato veggie burger, my husband had the smash burger, and my MIL had the soup of the day - a tomato and basil soup. Everything was really tasty and I appreciated they offered a plant-based option besides salads! Service was good. Ambiance and the space itself were good as well.

Yelp
Food was great and server was awesome. Cute little place with a great vibe. I had the chicken salad sandwich was yummy and my sister had the Beef pastie which she said was perfect.

Anna S.

Yelp
Loving the vibe here. A lot of great food for great price. We were so mad that we couldn't finish all of it. Service was fantastic and we sat next to the window which made for some excellent people watching. Dinner and a show. Meatloaf was just like grandma's but with a nice crispiness to the edges. Served with mash potatoes-delicious and coleslaw done right. I'm surprised at how many places put way too much Mayo in their coleslaw but Millie's knows how to find the right balance. Pasta Alfredo with chicken. Better than the Olive Garden and on the boarder of too much season(I know)! Still really delicious and I would highly recommend. Lots of food we couldn't finish but the atmosphere was delightful and I will definitely come back. Adding to my favorites of the island.

Yelp
Came here for dinner and enjoyed our experience. The good: + The best classic old fashioned that we've had on island. It was spot on perfect. + Their truffle fries were crispy and delicious + The service was amazing--truly phenomenal + I got a caesar salad with salmon and it included a large piece of salmon that was grilled to a slightly charred perfection The less than ideal: + The irish coffee is just ok. Not sure if the Buena Vista Cafe in San Francisco has spoiled me for all other irish coffees but the one here is a solid ok + The bleu cheese truffle fries are truffle fries with a small dish of bleu cheese dressing served with it. It just wasn't what I was expecting. I do like bleu cheese dressing, but I was expecting something a bit more (bleu cheese crumbles on the fries, maybe?) Overall, a positive experience, though! And, by all means, if you're looking for the best old fashioned on the island--this might well be it. Get to it!

Yelp
Super great service! Mackinac Island can get crazy busy, but we were seated at Millie's right away. Food selection is great! Our group had chicken sandwich, turkey Rueben and a burger. Everything was delicious and reasonably priced. There are many food options on the "main drag" there, and we were happy with Millies.

Jennifer M.

Yelp
This was exactly what all the great reviews said it was! An old restored building which is just adorable and the service was outstanding! My hubby and his sister said that the chicken salad with the dried Cherries was absolutely delicious and not too much mayonnaise. They both absolutely loved it! I had the chicken and wild rice soup, which I highly recommend and my brother in law had the olive burger and he said it was amazing. Fresh and flavorful!

Jeff D.

Yelp
We had the smoked white fish dip, fish tacos and fries; everything was fresh and delicious. I wish there were more menu items. Not the restaurants fault, but the city streets reek! If the door to the restaurant is open, you're smelling horse stank.

Gladstone P.

Yelp
They were out of a couple things we specifically went there for (chowder and shrimp), what we did get we loved. Nice server, great pastie and very good french onion soup. Kid's menu was a lifesaver and it has nice ambience that's a bit different than some of the other offerings in the strip.

Bob B.

Yelp
We had breakfast here. The servers really work their butts off to get the food out to the customers quickly while the food is still hot. We were a bit shoehorned in with the tables close enough that we could have a casual conversation with the folks sitting next to us without raising out voice.

Steve P.

Yelp
Got in easily without a reservation. Great service from the team. Garlic Parmesan Truffle fries were hard to put down. Perch was outstanding. Whitefish was also tasty, but not as good as the Perch. Restaurant was a bit noisy, but not too bad. Recommend it for someone looking for a good dinner on Mackinac Island without prior reservations and reasonably cost effective.

Heather M.

Yelp
Fun stop on Mackinac. We grabbed a quick lunch and really enjoyed it. Great menu choices and the fries were amazing!

Kourtney S.

Yelp
This was the first restaurant me and my husband tried while visiting Mackinac Island. It was really good! Our server was very friendly and attentive. I got the Chicken Alfredo and my husband got the meatloaf. I will say we were both surprised because it was not the kind of meatloaf we were expecting being from the south but it tasted delicious! Lol!

Cory C.

Yelp
I'd like to give this place 3.5 stars, but since Yelp doesn't do half stars, rounding down to 3. My mom and I both got the "Unplanked Whitefish": the dark fatty part of the broiled whitefish tasted a little fishy, but I liked the seasoning they used. The duchess potatoes were good - I liked the crusty part on top, and I also enjoyed the crunchy Parmesan topping on the tomato. The green beans and red peppers on the side were good, as they were not too greasy or salty. My dad got the pan fried perch: it was lightly breaded and not too greasy or salty, just like it should be. My brother got the beef pastie, which was delicious, like a beef pot pie. We shared a cherry cobbler for dessert: I appreciated the fresh whipped cream on top and the nice warm pie crust layer. However, underneath it had canned cherry pie filling, which was just okay. This place overall was good, but in my opinion, not as spectacular as I expected based on the reviews I read on here before coming.

Jacquie S.

Yelp
We had THE BEST service from our server, Brooke, that I have probably ever experienced at a restaurant. She was professional, energetic, engaging, charming. They need to hold on to this young lady! The food was also fantastic. We had a long day with a 50 mile bike tour. Food came out quickly and they were accommodating of my special requests. Chicken Alfredo was great, my husband had the fried whitefish basket and thought it was awesome. We also had two desserts- don't skip them! The walnut apple crisp was bomb and the chocolate lava cake was decadent. Would recommend both!

Maria T.

Yelp
I don't often give out 5 stars but in this case, it was worth it. We arrived on Oct 14 and chose Millie's to have dinner at as it had good reviews and was a short distance from our hotel. Our server, Bob, was friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. 5 stars. I ordered the Neptune Pasta. The texture was on point, not too creamy, perfectly cheesy, and had a good number of tasty shrimp and scallops. The French beans were crisp and tender all at the same time. Hubbie ordered the NY strip with mushrooms. It came out a perfect medium rare. And the garlic mashed potatoes were so flavorful. You could really taste the garlic. We also ordered the cherry cobbler... And ate every last crumb! Food - 5 stars. Oh and btw, the food came out lickety split! Other: 1. Not too large of a place. A few booths... More tables... Bar. Tasteful decor. 2. They said they were closing that weekend, earlier than many of the other establishments on the island. So I'm glad we were able to dine with them before they did.

Erica J.

Yelp
My first time at Millie's, the service was excellent. The food was tasty, I had the Millie's Chicken Salad w/ chips but I thought it could use more of those Michigan cherries, still tasty though. I would go back, it's a little loud but it's a bar *shrug*

BJ L.

Yelp
We're celebrating a big birthday with my sister in law and we had the best time! The food was great, the blueberry lemon drop martini was fantastic and the apple pie crisp was delicious! Brooke our waitress made the meal entertaining and fun! She is the best ever!

Angela B.

Yelp
Husband sat down and ordered while I went out to find the one Little Free Library on Mackinac island. When I got back my turkey club was there and so was a nice cold glass of water! Maybe it was the fast walk, maybe it was just that good, but the sandwich really hit the spot!

Joseph H.

Yelp
SERVICE: 5 FOOD QUALITY: 5 DRINK QUALITY: N/A ORDER TIME: 5 AESTHETICS: 3 NOISE LEVEL: 5 MENU SELECTION: 5 OVERALL EXPERIENCE: 4.67 I don't live in the area so my review will be vague and to the point. The aesthetics were nothing special and it was just a small corner restaurant. Thought it might be a little more decorative being on the Main Street. The food was absolutely amazing. The burger was juicy and delicious. The fries were cooked to perfection. The service was superb. Definitely worth stopping in to get a bite to eat.

Mary T.

Yelp
I had fish and chips and a salad to eat. All very good! The restaurant is conveniently located on Main Street and is updated inside but still kept the older look. Service was great! My only complaint is that it was very chilly inside and also noisy. The restaurant wasn't full but still the acoustics made voices sound very loud.

Ginny D.

Yelp
We had dinner here and all 4 of us loved it. We had a drink at the bar first. Polly was our server and she was awesome and so friendly. Great service! We had meatloaf, perch and whitefish all were wonderful. Wine was great too!

Sarah S.

Yelp
The food was excellent and the server (young lady from Romania) was the best! My husband and I had the Lake Michigan Perch and it by far exceeded my expectations. Our daughters had the Chicken Alfredo and they gave a thumbs up for their food. I would recommend and we hope to eat there again before going home.

Kathy K.

Yelp
Excellent service and delicious food. We enjoyed the warm whitefish dip with cocktails. Then an olive burger and pastie. All great. Lovely interior. Great service! We will be back!

Rochelle K.

Yelp
Service was great! Food was really good! I had the Pasties . Nice atmosphere. Comfortable seating. Good menu choices. Would definitely go back again.

Rick S.

Yelp
Between a 4.5 and 5 star in our opinion. The bar/restaurant is above-average in noise level, but the server we had was outstanding. Despite being very busy, everything was very good, and service excellent. Prices were about the same as other sit-down restaurants on the island, so expect $25 ish entrees at the norm. I had the whitefish with fries and slaw, my wife sandwich with excellent chicken noodle soup. We think Millie's is worth a bit of a wait compared to other places you may just walk into.

Nicholas P.

Yelp
Great spot for a cold beer and a delicious burger! Cozy pub with awesome interior. If I'm back in Mackinaw I will definitely be stopping back in!

Stacy A.

Yelp
Traditional decor & delicious food. I had the fried white fish & fries, it was good. I was a jealous of my friend's order of baked whitefish on a salad tho. We shared a cherry cobbler dessert & it was delicious: real whipped cream & cherries from Michigan- all homemade!

Sue B.

Yelp
First visit to Mackinac Island and decided to stop at Millie's for lunch. We were seated within 10 minutes. It has an old timey feel with booths, tables and a full bar. Our waitress arrived quickly and took our drink orders. We ordered the smoked whitefish dip and it came out hot and fresh quickly. The dip was good. A little hard to get the melted cheese to break up on top, but tasty. It was served with pita chips and maybe bruschetta chips. Not sure what type of bread, but it was a little tough to chew . Maybe it was supposed to be? I ordered the turkey and bacon club. My son had the BLT, hubby had the whitefish basket and my daughter had the chicken fingers. My club sandwich was large and tasty. My son liked his BLT and hubby said the whitefish was good. My sandwich came with chips that I believe were kettle chips and the other baskets came with fries. Our waitress was attentive and refilled our drinks often.

Kathleen T.

Yelp
While on a visit to Mackinac, we stopped at Millie's on Main for lunch. It has a nice old fashioned feel. Good solid lunch choices, nothing fancy. Service was great, friendly. Nothing spectacular, but good. They seemed to have enough staff, which is lacking at many places.

LM C.

Yelp
Service was really great. The food was pretty awful though. Much better options for the price.

Grass H.

Yelp
Good food! Great service! I enjoyed Doc's turkey burger. Thanks, Bob for such good service!

Vicki E.

Yelp
We had an amazing dinner with no waiting in line or reservations. Service was excellent! Drinks were great too! The Rosemary lemon chicken was excellent. My husband had the perch and loved it. And the warm cherry cobbler was the piece de resistance! I think they were Michigan cherries! So good!

Doug F.

Yelp
We live in Ohio and never get fresh fish. My wife and I decided to split the fish n chips and a cheeseburger meal. Both were outstanding! I like to save what tastes best for last and I couldn't decide. The burger meal comes with kettle chips and I thought about substituting them for fries, but the fish came with fries so we kept the chips and were very glad we did. If you make say what was the best thing I ate, it would be the fresh white fish. Delicious!!!! My wife and I don't eat out very often and this was the best meal we've had in years.

Alexis H.

Yelp
Older bartender, Mrs. Shakey wouldn't let us get a chance to get a table. Do not recommend only when she's working! She gives this place a negative review. Food/beer is amazing but she is not!

Mancow M.

Yelp
One of the better seemingly less tourist teapot places. While it's true that "each man is an island" on this island I needed to eat. The elderly lady that waited on us was kind. I thought SHE was Millie. Apparently, Millie is the dog. Oops. Hearty everything. Club sandwich delicious as was the chicken noodle soup and the chicken l" soup was the old fashion kind with a big thick noodles which I love. And I also had the whitefish chowder. And the whitefish dip.

Stan P.

Yelp
Their food is delicious, always hot and their service is incredible! Katelyn's positive attitude is contagious! Make sure you ask to sit in her section. Plus she works for an incredible Manager, Brooke!!! Don't miss out on the experience while on the island!

Arie K.

Yelp
I was very satisfied with my experience at Millie's on Main, but one thing that stuck out to me was our waiter, Andrei. He was THE BEST and went above and beyond to make sure our experience was extremely enjoyable and incredible. He deserves recognition for his kindness. Thank you Andrei!!! Will be back!!

Jenna H.

Yelp
Some of the best service we experienced on the island. The food was great and so were the bloody Marys. The price point was a bit high (like many places on the island). Otherwise, this is a solid pick for lunch or dinner.

Gloria Z.

Yelp
Best meal I had on the island. Food was well seasoned and nicely presented. Wait staff was very attentive.

Debby W.

Yelp
My husband and I were enjoying a day in Mackinac Island and stopped here for a meal. BEST DECISION EVER (ok maybe 2nd best but only slightly behind out decision to marry 25 years ago). Really though, this place has WONDERFUL food and best of all, SUPURB staff. Brooke was our server and she is the BEST. Not only knowledgeable about the menu but wonderful anecdotes about life on the Island. Millie's is inviting and restful (off the busy main street) and again, the food is delicious. We had zero wait to be seated and food arrived quickly and well prepared. We will be back again!

Pam B.

Yelp
Delicious and fast food! You won't be dissatisfied. Portions are big, it's best if shared

Mary C.

Yelp
Stopped here for lunch. The other place was closed that we wanted to go to. They definitely had the whole social distancing thing down. It's a small place that can't accommodate big parties right now. The food was fantastic. I had a pastie and my daughter had a club. My pastie came with the traditional brown gravy. And the crust was so light and fluffy that you didn't even need a knife to cut it. It was absolutely amazing. My daughter's club was pretty darn good too. If you want to go to a nice lil place give this a try. You definitely won't be disappointed!

Manisha M.

Yelp
Ducked into this restaurant and grabbed dinner. The Irish coffee and Bloody Mary's are great! The Cajun shrimp and fish tacos are also delicious. The waiter was kind and attentive and there was also ample seating indoors.

Nicole K.

Yelp
Came to eat here on Labor Day. The waiter Anthony was nice, gave the table some beer to try before making a selection to order. The pasta was really good the noodles were soft. No wait, good service and nice location.

Kathy W.

Yelp
We ate at several restaurants on Main and thought this the best of all. We both had fish, whitefish and perch, and both were excellently prepared and plated very well. You will pay about the same at most restaurants on Main Street, sans the much more upscale, but these dinners were the best we had. Service was also extremely good and restaurant was clean and good atmosphere. All the other dishes coming out looked great too....definitely recommend!

Diane P.

Yelp
Excellent food and service Four thumb up on Olive Burger and Whitefish Reasonable prices and portion size

Aurora R.

Yelp
Pub atmosphere with a wide selection of food on the menu. Fries and battered whitefish were very crispy.

Mel C.

Yelp
Busy but a great place to try a MI brew and sit at the bar for a bite. The mushroom swiss burger with a side of fries really hit the spot after hiking all morning. I also really liked the whitefish chowder served with a side of Saltine crackers. It was so warm, creamy and delicious with big chunks of whitefish and potato. A good variety of menu and drink offerings and I appreciated the warm, classic pub decor and clean restrooms inside. It was extremely busy after the Mackinac 8 mile race so we were surprised to find open bar stools inside. The ladies at the bar were fun and friendly, despite how busy it was, and let us try a couple beer samples before commiting to an entire glass So glad we checked this place out based on the great previous reviews we found online.

Kelsey G.

Yelp
Stopped here after hiking on mackinaw island with the family and it was a comfortable casual stop! The service was quick and friendly. The big portions of food were all yummy with each bite.

Dave G.

Yelp
My wife and I came here On a Sunday night. It's a small place, very clean, lots of dark wood. They had a small menu, but it was varied. Something different was the meatloaf sliders with pretzel buns that my wife had. They were really good. I had the fish basket. You could tell the fish was super fresh. Just the right amount of batter- light. I really enjoyed my fish!

Calvin M.

Yelp
Good place for lunch I had the White Fish with fries very good. My wife had the Olive Burger which she said was okay. They had a Blueberry drink with whiskey and ginger beer that was very good. There was one customer that had patches on his jacket that let you know he did not care for certain people but that was a sad thing we noticed on our drive to get to the bridge. It is really silly that people in Northern Michigan still have hate for people period.
