First time here, three of us celebrating a birthday on a Saturday night. Arrived about 6.30 no reservations , it was about two thirds full. Two levels, we went upstairs and were lucky enough to secure a small table that was just being cleared, overlooking Washington Ave.
Service was super friendly and prompt and we were welcomed and chatted up by the very unpretentious sommelier.
A very fun wine by the glass menu that described each wine in very fun ways. Prices weren't bad. I enquired about the bottles on the menu and the sommelier focused on the wines that were best value. He ended up recommending a Bordeaux that he said was delicious of which he only has a couple of bottles left. We ordered the recommended charcuterie board to go with it.
It was all wonderful and the service was attentive but not over bearing.
Great ambience, gas fireplace, no music, so good for conversation - a real mix of ages although primarily female and couples. Good lighting (you can actually see).
Also treated to complimentary dessert wine and chocolate since we were celebrating a birthday.
We signed up for their newsletter (being developed)- they will have themed menus and wines.
A great bottle of wine, charcuterie, complimentary chocolates and dessert wine all for $108.
It was a a very pleasant evening we were there for two hours and I certainly would go back.
Street meter parking (cost $1) , although their website says they have a parking lot. There is beer available for non wine drinkers. The dessert menu looked good too. Most people dressed up a little but if you wanted to be casual that would be fine.
