Mimi's Handmade Ice Cream

Mimi’s has a great selection of classics and creative flavors. I went in to try the Beet, which was sadly sold out for the day. The Thai Tea had a lovely flavor: they clearly use real tea as I could see specks of tea leaves. The texture is creamy with a slight stretch. The ice cream is a bit too sweet for my liking, and I would have preferred a less saccharine version with more depth from the tea.

The ice cream was okay, but they offer many unique flavors you won’t find elsewhere. The prices were reasonable, and parking was easy to find. The surrounding area was pleasant—you can grab an ice cream, relax, and enjoy your time there.

Stopped in 5 minutes before closing to find an enticing choice of high quality, naturally flavored ice cream. The owner was wonderful and in great spirits - really made our night! And the ice cream is the best I’ve had in the US so far! Highly recommend to anyone with refined taste 😉

Mimi's is easily in the top 5 ice cream shops I've been to, and I make a point to visit places that advertise making their own ice cream wherever I am in the country. My wife likes to sample new flavors, but usually defaults to her regular order of cookies and cream or chocolate, but at Mimi's she was so captivated by a flavor neither of us had ever seen before (praline and honey) that she bought a pint. Our kids, one of whom is extremely picky (the other will eat literally anything), LOVED the ice cream. On top of the high quality and top-notch flavor, the service was genuinely friendly, even though we came through 20min from close.

Try their ice cream (and keep going back). Their flavors are unique and made with real (not artificial) ingredients--- Bailey's Irish cream, tiramisu with all the ingredients of the cake, lemon poppy, roasted beet, and basil ice cream (sounds strange but its subtle and delicious). The owner and the staff are always so friendly. Also the prices are reasonable. They sometimes have a buy 3 pints, get 1 free deal for about $30. Very worth a stop!

I like this place - the ice cream is good and the outside seating area is comfortable. This is a good spot to go to for a date or a night with friends.

Probably the best ice cream I've ever had no joke. The flavors are so unique and the workers are so sweet. For example, they had a butterfly pea lemon flavor. Like what?? But it was DELICIOUS! I ended up getting Ube which was so delicious and not lacking flavor or texture.

Officially my favorite ice cream in the DMV! They have a wide variety of flavor options ranging from classics to unique offerings to satisfy practically any craving. Service was super quick and they were more than welcome to provide samples before committing to a flavor. I ended up going with a lychee and apple pie double scoop in a waffle bowl. The quality of the ice cream was so evident with every bite. Both flavors were so unique and loved the incorporation of fresh fruit bits. I paid a little over $9 for the double scoop including the waffle bowl add on. Prices are pretty fair considering they give GENEROUS portion sizes (me and my partner were stuffed after sharing this) I was so sold after eating my ice cream that I almost got baited into buying their pint offerings (luckily I refrained myself). Excited to come back and try more flavors!

I'm not sure if the lady who helped us is the owner but she was really nice. I was a little skeptical about asking for samples because alot of places had stopped doing them after the pandemic but anyways we were able to sample the lychee, super Oreo, and the Cookie Monster and everything was delicious. We ended up going with all of the flavors we sampled ! The guy that was at the cash register was super nice too. It smells so good inside too. The flavors and cleanliness of the store just hits you as soon as you walk in. I'm normally a vegan girlie with ice cream due to the milk but I realized that the ice cream didn't mess with my stomach.

Delicious handmade ice cream with a plethora of unique flavors! The staff is great and patiently let my friend and I sample a variety of flavors. The boozy Bailey's flavor was creamy and delicious and paired well with the Cinnamon Crunch flavor and reminded me of Horchata. My friend got the Bailey's and paired with Ube. The serving is generous and a single scoop (split scoop is available!) is plenty of ice cream and more than enough to share. I've visited the Fairfax location and am looking forward to visiting more locations and exploring new flavors!

After a tough day I decided to indulge in ice cream. I went to one store but their small selection didn't have any flavors that appealed to me and when I settled for ordering an available flavor they didn't take cash! I was in no mood to like anything. I just wanted stress relief by chocolate! Mimi's turned my upset mood into a good mood. The ambiance was cute and typical of ice cream parlors, with a few seats for eating in and a spacious plaza for eating outdoors. The servers were quick and friendly. They offered tastes of their recommended flavors. My mission to get chocolate came to a screeching halt when I tasted Mimi's cantaloupe sorbet. Who knew that it was possible to taste summer sunshine from a spoon?!? As I completed my purchase the gentleman behind the counter shared that they used no additives... only ripe cantaloupes, water, and sugar. I highly recommend and will be back!

I heard about this place and decided to stop in. There was not a lot of space inside to sit but there were a lot of flavors and I guess they have season flavors and some made with alcohol too. I decided to go with the ube ice cream. That was a solid ice cream and I would go back to try more flavors.

Super Oreo is my favorite ice cream. I have been here a few times and the service is great. They also offer kids size for $4.50 so happy to see good ice cream that it's not crazy expensive. Love it!

This place is super cute! It's in a shopping center with a lot of other food options so you can eat lunch or dinner and get Mimi's for dessert! It doesn't matter if it's hot or freezing outside it will still taste delicious!!! There's an ice skating rink right in front of it with seating so we sat out there in the cold and ate ice cream!!! The scoops are huge and the price is not bad for how big those scoops are. I got the ube ice cream and it was a bomb.com. It has chunks of ube in it. I tried the Thai tea flavor and some other ones and they were as good!! Check them out and let me know which flavor you went for at Mimi!!!!!

Such an amazing local ice cream shop! I came with a couple of colleagues and our experience was great. Not only is the ice cream delicious but the staff and owner were extremely nice and welcoming. There is an outside patio with limited seating but the plaza where the establishment is has enough space to walk around or seat on any of the public benches. I highly recommend checking this place out!

I love Mimi's. I'm ice cream obsessed and this place is great. They have amazing flavors and everything is rich and delicious. The flavor variety is on point. The butterscotch is my absolute favorite. It's small inside but there is outside seating. Staff is friendly. It's great to have good ice cream nearby.

This place is absolutely delicious. Everything I've had here has been so good. Staff are always friendly. The setting is small, so plan on going in, getting great ice cream, and eating outside. I've probably had 8-10 different flavors here, with the lemon poppyseed being one of my favorites. The apple pie, strawberry, blueberry, one, and Thai basil, to name a few, are all great.

Tasty ice cream! Sampled a few different flavors until I ultimately decided on the dirty chocolate chip. Loved the different sizes of chocolate chips so it gave it a nice variety of texture. Tasted great! Got it in a sugar cone. Staff was very friendly and the line moved fast!

Sooooooo many delicious flavors to choose from! I had a hard time deciding what to get!!! They do let you sample the flavors to help you choose. I love the different ethnic flavors offered here as well as the adult ones! Yummy!

Honestly one of my favorite ice cream places in the area. There usually is a line, but it goes by pretty fast if you're patient -- it gives you time to think about what flavors you're going to get! There are a wide variety of flavors, ranging from your basic chocolate and vanilla and sorbets, to your more tropical flavors like ube and Thai tea. I usually order a scoop of Ube and something else. I love that their ube ice cream is not too sweet, and not too plain. I also love knowing that they source their ube from a local Filipino store in NoVA. The something else that I got last time was cinnamon custard crunch (has nuts). So yummy, so cinnamony, and subtly sweet with a nice crunch. The price for 2 scoops after tax and tip is around $7-8 which is a great price for homemade ice cream! You know it's homemade the faster it melts, so grab napkins. It's pretty clean inside, but be wary that there isn't too much seating inside. There are places to sit around Pentagon Row outside, especially during the summer. Not too sure about seating during winter time since they put out the outdoor skating rink. Nonetheless, whatever season it may be, I highly recommend checking out Mimi's for your post dinner sweet tooth!

The ice cream I had is pretty unique, and the staff are patient in allowing me to try several different flavors before buying. The scoops are pretty huge also, and I got thai ice tea and black sesame flavors, all which are my favorite. Most of the fruit flavors they have taste exactly like the fruit mentioned, unlike other stores I've been to which has an unrealistic imitation of the fruit. Even with the black sesame ice cream, it does have the black sesame mixed with the ice cream and wasn't grinded in like other stores. Overall, 8.9/10, as only two of my favorite flavors appeal to me, rounded up for the nice atmosphere and the staff.

Pretty good ice cream, even if it wasn't life-changing- I have high ice cream standards though (if only my standards were higher for other things...) I got 2 scoops: Salted caramel- pretty standard, but well-executed. Wish there was more saltiness or slight smokiness that I've found in other renditions of this elsewhere. Ube- very solid take on this Asian classic. I like how there appeared to be actual pieces of ube in this, which made the mouthfeel more interesting. I'm always a fan of Asian ice cream flavors, so glad I stopped by.

I wanna add more stars. Just go here, take my word for it - texture, sweetness, serving is about right. ... get all flavors! Love it love it love it. Service is great - Ambiance is cozy. It can get cramped inside because its just well small - lines can get longer if the people ahead has a hard time deciding which one to get. I always get the Mint Oreo on a sugar cone, double scoop ;) ... Then you go and sit outside - theres some benches and sitting area - and just lazily finish your ice-cream. Disclaimer : once youre inside and ready to order - you will have a hard time deciding which one to get because all flavors are absolutely delicious ;) stick to what you want and come back for seconds ;)

A little eclectic place in a lively location. The staff welcomed us to sample various flavors, with some of them being unique to their shop. I landed on lemon poppy, and it was delightfully tart yet creamy, with the perfect amount of texture via poppy seeds. Seating is limited inside though, so if the weather is good, mosey on out to the ample seating outside.

I've been coming since they opened, owners usually here and he's super nice and warm. It's a very clean place, usually younger workers but they're well mannered. Just me taste as many flavors as you want they won't complain (unless there's a line, don't be that person lol). Perfect place to come on a hot summer day!

Such a great and tasty spot!! I can't believe I've walked by here soooo many times and never came in! The owner is super nice and he makes EVERYTHING IN HOUSE. I got to try a couple of their non-dairy flavors. My favorite was the coconut it was puréed and so CREAMY and delicious. I regret every time I walked by here and didn't try it. Soooo soooo good!! You can tell he uses real and quality ingredients! I'm deff going back on my lunch tomorrow

Passed time and grabbed some ice cream earlier on in the day!!!.. Mimi's is a unique ice cream spot they have flavors you wouldn't even think of!!... the ambiance was bright, welcoming and super cute!!! & they had a bit of their culture in the mix as well on the shelves and walls. We got kiddie cones which I must say they pack it in that cone and give you a nice Scoop on top!! Got praline & honey which was VeryVery good you could go back for more!!! And super Oreo!! Which was great and nice sized Oreo chunks!! Yummm . I would definitely return here for a summer stroll and grab some ice cream . And it didn't melt fast as like other ice creams which was a plus! The service was immediate and let you try little spoon samples . So I'd recommend it but make sure you look because it's a bit in the corner but worth the finding gem!

Lychee sorbet is my favorite! I come here whenever I'm craving banana or lychee ice cream, even when it's cold outside

I've walked past this shop soo many times and finally decided to stop by for a treat one day because it was freakin hot out. I wished I have stopped in a lot earlier because the flavors are soo good. Soo many unique flavors to choose from, including some boozy scoops. For this visit, I went with Double scoops ($7.50) with one scoops of the Thai Iced Tea and one scoops of Coffee Oreo. Flavors are phenomenal and stand right out, especially the Thai Iced Tea which taste exactly like the drink. Can't wait to try the other flavors they offer in the future.

I love this place. In their mosaic branch I had their durian Icecream and it was delicious. Very authentic flavor. The Thai tea, ube, guava, and cantaloupe was super delicious to eat. I would recommend checking out this place. The texture, sweetness level, and price is good

Believe the reviews and hype and just go. Handmade and/or small batch ice cream is always the answer for me whenever I want ice cream, but Mimi's is different. I don't eat a lot of sweets and usually can't finish a scoop of ice cream, but the coffee scoop in a sugar cone was devoured. I tried a few vegan flavors, but ultimately just took the chance with dairy and it did not bother my stomach at all. Very rare W. Once you're inside, it's a typical ice cream shop with a few indoor spots to sit, great service, and very good ice cream. I'll definitely be back soon

We ordered 2 scoops of the Ube and Cinnamon ice cream. It was delicious. One friend had the pink champagne and it was too sweet. I tried my other friend's espresso and Thai flavored ice cream. Those flavors were tasty too. There wasn't a lot of seats inside but plenty outside and in the courtyard.

The ice cream here was fantastic. I got the snow ginger ice cream and lychee sorbet. I wish these flavors were more prevalent in ice cream at other shops and stores. Snow ginger was creamy and slightly spicy yet sweet, really good and delicious. Lychee was refreshing and great too. Service was friendly. Located in a nice little strip mall, it was a short walk away from my hotel by the Crystal City shops. I wish I was in Arlington longer so I could go back. Prices are high but quality is good and serving size was decent. Two scoops was enough for me in one sitting.

Love the ice cream here! They have some unique flavors that actually taste good in my opinion, not just to draw people in. The staff is all super friendly and you can get in and out quickly if you're looking to just grab something fast. They have a nice outdoor seating area and are in a great location on Pentagon Row

Love this spot! They have unique flavors, are always friendly and the ice cream is always good. Especially recommend trying their Asian flavors like black sesame, red bean and others if you see it on the menu.

My friends and I decided after eating a yummy dinner we needed some dessert. One of my friends have been raving about this place since they had their Apple pie flavor ice cream months ago. Unfortunately the day we went they didn't have their flavor in stock but there was plenty more options to make up for it. I got their Thai tea ice cream on a cake cone and it was delicious! The place is so clean and the staff is very nice. It is limited seating, so you may need to take your ice cream to go or wander outside to watch the skaters on the rink (just bundle up). I would recommend reading their board of flavors on the left wall when you walk in. I missed that board and went straight to the counter (which isn't a bad thing) but I did not see some of the additional flavors that was on the board. I for sure will be back to try more flavors. And they have so many options for those who have restrictions that everyone can have a piece of sweetness which is what I love.

THE best ice cream in Arlington / DC. I went around to many ice cream shops in the DMV the entire summer, and this was my favorite one by far. I met the owner and he said that they roast the banana's for HOURS for the "rstd banana nut ice cream" (available on Sundays). I am not a banana fan typically, but I tried it and it was really good. I was so surprised! Picking a flavor is tough because they have so many and also make new ones each season! I settled on "Cinnamon Crunch" and "Salted Caramel". Going here in the winter is worth it and I will go more frequently as it warms up!

I don't have enough good things to say about Mimi's! On the first day I moved to Pentagon City, I stumbled upon this place, and it's changed my views on ice cream entirely. It's a small family-owned business, and you can often see the owners (hi, Rollin!) working at the store and welcoming everyone with a warm smile. You can tell they are all passionate about making ice cream, from going to the store and buying fresh ingredients to experimenting with new flavors. The best part about this place is that they let you sample flavors however much you want, and there is no shortage of interesting flavors to try! My personal favorites are the lychee sorbet and the Coffee Oreo, but some of the other ones I like are the lemon poppy and ube. This place is a hidden gem, and you won't be disappointed!

Yay! If your an Oreo Fan you are in luck because their mint Oreo and Super Oreo are delicious :) their coconut cream was also a hit! It's also at the perfect spot because you have the pentagon Row ice skating right in the center and ton of shopping / dining nearby and ample amount of outdoor seating to just hang out. Cute spot! If your in the area definitely give it a try:)

A lot of people have been hyping this place up on social media, so I was utterly intrigued to try this place out. A lot of reviews discuss the really nice staff as well as it being hand-made in the store, so it piqued my interest. The parking situation is via street parking, parking lot, or parking garage - so plenty of options. It will usually be paid parking though. Coming into the shop itself on a REALLY hot day (my first visit was in July), I came sweating profusely but was instantly relieved by the chill (pun intended) ambiance of this shop. It definitely is a mom and pop shop, as it has a lot of great local merch you can get from artists, and also types of ice cream and sorbets that they offer. The staff are super friendly and helped me pick some options, and also informed me of ingredients in the ice creams and sorbets. My friends got ice creams such as ube, thai tea, and cookies and cream, but I opted for the salted caramel and cinnamon crunch. ALL OF THE FLAVORS WE HAD WERE DELICIOUS. My friends who came with me were visiting from New Jersey (but we all travel frequently), and we now believe that Mimi's Handmade Ice Cream is now the best ice cream we have ever had. 1000000/10 would come back!!

Someone told me this was the best ice cream shop in the area so I had to stop in. Very humble space with an array of unique flavors. Loved they included flavors like Ube; I'm Southeast Asian and appreciate flavors like that making a come up in the ice cream scene. I tried a couple flavors and was not really sold on it but I didn't want to leave a review until I made a couple more visits. Came back and fell in love with the Coffee Oreo flavor, but my rating did drop to a 4 star because some flavors had that dreadful "ice residue" which is usually from not up-keeping the right temperatures. With competitors like Van Leeuwen and Jeni's, they gotta stay silky smooth every time. Mimi's does have tremendous potential though!!

Small ice cream shop in a shopping center with lots of nice restaurants and stores to check out nearby. Lots of interesting flavors including a pretty decent vegan selection. They let you try a couple of flavors which was helpful and the workers there were very kind. I ended up going for the vegan banana nut which was excellent. Definitely on the pricier side but very good nonetheless.

Mimi's is not inside the mall, but there is plenty of parking nearby. There were so many flavors and you can sample them before deciding to get either one or two scoops or a pint! We love the ube and snow ginger flavors. The ube tasted real and was really strong. There were ginger chunks in the ice cream too. Check out their special flavors on the board!

An ice cream shop in Arlington that's open late AND has more than one non-dairy flavor to choose from (along with a bunch of traditional and non-traditional flavors for all the dairy-lovers out there). That alone puts Mimi's way ahead of its competition. Great place to stop into for a cup or a cone when you need an ice cream fix.

Great ice cream that really packs their designated flavors. Choco choco was incredible--dark and very rich and delicious. Lemon poppy was good too, very lemony and poppy-y. Ube was *really* strong--actually too strong for us, but it was very impressive how much ube flavor this shop managed to instill into the ice cream. Dirty choco chip was the lightest of all--good but rather too light in flavor.

The ice cream flavors are so delicious!! I went two nights in a row because it was so good. My dad also loved his ice cream. We recommend the oreo coffee flavor and watermelon sorbet flavor. However everything is good so long as you like the flavors in which you order. The service was great, moved the line through very quickly, such a cute shop. Am officially addicted now, will be returning frequently.

This place had been calling my name! Not only by name, but some of the flavors. I tried a scoop with half Thai tea and espresso. It was great to be able to have two flavors as one scoop. The espresso could've been much stronger. I didn't think it had much coffee taste. The tea was good, though it could've also been stronger. My mistake was not trying a sample of the espresso beforehand. Neither were very sweet, which was good. The scoop cost $6.04 with taxes. Clean store and helpful staff. I may try some of the other flavors, such as snow ginger, if I'm in the area again.

Did you know there was a secret menu here? My boyfriend & I tried Mimi's handmade ice cream the other day for the first time. I got the Oreo ice cream while he got the ube. We both really liked our flavors. However, I was most impressed with the secret menu which I didn't existed until I saw it as I was leaving. It includes really interesting savory flavors like cucumber. There is also an adult menu with rum flavored ice cream. I'm a huge fan of savory and unique flavored desserts so I will certainly be coming back here soon. We went on a rainy day and sat inside and found the decor really nice and pleasant. However, there is a big park/common area for all the pentagon city restaurants behind the pentagon city mall where this ice cream shop is so there is beyond beyond ample seating outside on a nice day.
