"Taking over the space formerly occupied by Borgo Food Station at 3641 West Alabama, Mina Ristorante will kick open the doors on Monday, April 8. The restaurant is a project of Borgo chef Monica Fallone, and will serve casual, counter-service lunch options like antipasti, 'lunch bowls,' and lasagna Bolognese. At night, the space will become a full-service restaurant with heartier fare like chicken marsala, freshly-made pastas, and salmon steak paired with crunchy quinoa. Mina is now open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for lunch, and 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday for dinner. On Fridays, dinner service runs from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m." - Amy McCarthy

"The dishes at Mina Ristorante are inspired in large part by Borgo’s popular meals-to-go: expect antipasti, freshly-made pastas, comfort food, and desserts. In mid-February, the transition will begin with construction of a dining area, designed by Erin Hicks. The new look will add sophisticated touches like dark walnut tabletops, brass accents, and stone countertops." - Adele Chapin

I had been itching to try Mina Ristorante since it is within walking distance of our new apartment. The restaurant is easy to see from the street and has welcoming curb appeal. The staff at the door greeted us promptly and warmly. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable when I inquired about pescatarian dishes. He kept our water and wine glasses full. The restaurant was very clean and artful. The staff surprised me with a sampling of their gelato with a lit birthday candle. The gelato was full of flavor. We kept the evening going after dinner by taking a bottle of wine to the front patio. The furniture was kept and comfy. Our server continued to provide stellar service once we went outdoors. The one drawback is parking. If you park in the front of the restaurant, in one of the few spaces (more parking nearby or on the street), the staff have to help you back out into the street. BUT! The staff knows this concern exists. One staff member who we thought was the owner, stepped into the street to hold traffic while an elderly couple backed up to leave. We were impressed! We will be back often.

This place is just what Houston needed. They serve amazing food, it is sophisticated but not pretentious, they clearly know what they are doing and they are doing it very well. We had the Crispy Cauliflower which was unexpectedly awesome, the Carpaccio was a special and it is incredible, I hope they add it to the menu, best beef Carpaccio in Houston. We will be coming back often.

This place is a gem. The wait staff is great and the owner is charming. You feel taken out of Houston and to a little Italian cafe. It is good for a romantic date or a place to gather with friends and family. Sexy ambience, good wine. Well priced and cozy neighborhood feel. The food is delicious and we are looking forward to coming back and trying other things.

The menu is not extensive, but there is something for everyone. Importantly, the kitchen is outstanding, everything prepared and presented to the highest standards. Excellent pairing possibilities with the somewhat limited but carefully chosen wine list. It's a small room and anything but quiet when it's busy, but never too noisy, even for those of us with impaired hearing. Highly recommend!

Absolutely amazing service and equally amazing food. The portions are perfect, the flavors are well balanced, so delicious. Charming interior decor, truly felt like a great hidden restaurant in Europe. My boyfriend and I will be back again for date night soon!

We had a delightful evening with our granddaughter tonight. The service was great and the food was delicious. We had meatballs, Caesar salad with shrimp, spinach ravioli and the deconstructed lasagna appetizer. It was so fresh and delicious. We highly recommend Mina!

I am impressed with this establishment. Reminds me of why I love Houston so much- all the neat and different eateries! As a vegetarian I was able to find great options for lunch. The yucca chips are delicious, and the owner is nice and helpful. I kind of felt like I was back in Italy for a moment - a nice flashback!
