A Tower District classic with roots in a 1950s-era Chinese restaurant at the same corner, Ming’s serves throwback Chinese-American comforts alongside family platters. The Fresno Bee has highlighted the site’s longstanding role in local dining history.

Service was great, food came so fast. We got a half and half special for both of us. Made a couple changes, only a tiny fee to get pork instead of chicken. The staff wa very attentive and the food was delicious. I would highly recommend checking out this little gem near the Fresno Tower District.

Google
Food was super bland and low quality, no flavor, the orange chicken was giving rotten, atmosphere was quiet and dull there was no music and two sad people just sitting by themselves. The food was so Bad I promise please don’t go there. These people need to stop serving such disgusting food.

🥡 A Fresno Classic – Ming’s Restaurant Never Misses Ming’s Restaurant has been one of my all-time favorite spots in Fresno for over 15 years—and for good reason. Every time I return, I make sure to order their Chicken Chow Mein with pan-fried noodles, and it never disappoints. This dish is pure comfort: perfectly crisp noodles, tender chicken, and that unmistakable flavor that I simply cannot find anywhere else—not in Texas, not anywhere. What makes Ming’s so special is the consistency. Year after year, the quality and taste remain just as I remember. There’s something about their take on Chinese food that sets it apart—it’s authentic, flavorful, and just hits differently in the best way possible. I’m incredibly grateful that this gem is still in operation. In a world where great local restaurants sometimes fade away, Ming’s continues to hold strong. This place is a Fresno staple, and I truly hope it stays around for generations to come. If you’re in town, don’t pass it up. Trust me—Ming’s is the kind of place that turns a simple meal into a cherished tradition.

This was our first time eating at Ming's. They were very friendly and suggested and prepared food that was authentic to Chinese villages. They even customized the spice level. The food was delicious. We are looking forward to coming back!

Google
This place apparently has been around for decades in the Tower District and it shows. It is pretty run-down; the upholstery has seen better days and the ambiance is definitely that of a hole-in-the-wall. However, we all know that a hole-in-the-wall usually means that the food is good and Ming's falls in that category. Our dishes were pretty good. I had the garlic chicken and my son had a dinner special. Ming's serves generous portions. You can easily make 2 portions out of one box. I did not rate them a full 5 stars because when I asked for the vegetable fried rice, the person who was taking our order said that it was either steamed rice or pork fried rice. No other option... and it really wasn't very tasty.

Google
We go eat here just about every other week. (At least once a month for sure ☺️ my kids love their pan fried noodles, tofu broccoli and chicken fried rice. We’ve been coming here for idk, 10 years or so (maybe longer) We order the same thing every time, lol and love it! Every one is really nice. They’re all friendly and kind, and the food comes out quickly! ☺️

Google
Still the most unique Asian restaurant in Fresno. IMO. Family owned. Gargantuan food portions and the best HOT OIL anywhere. I get a plate everytime I visit Fresno. Fresno has the best food....Again IMO.

Google
Big portions and fast, friendly service. Food was tasty and prices were fair. Unassuming location packing a lot of authentic flavor.

Yelp
I've lived in LA and SF and here in Fresno and can honestly say the food I get at Ming's is consistently my favorite! The food is excellent and the proportions are large. There's a dorky adorable employee who takes your order and who is always friendly and sweet. When it gets busy one of the chefs/ employees comes out to help him and he is equally as nice. I will always be a fan of Mings in the Tower District in Fresno. I've been coming here for nearly 30 years and honestly find no need to look elsewhere.

Yelp
It was awful!I have not eaten there in years, but we decided to try,I had fried shrimp and egg foo young. My Husband had Pork chow mein and egg foo Yong. Probably the worst Chinese food I have ever had ,I didn't eat that much because I couldn't really tell what was in it ,the "egg" foo Yong had no evidence of egg at all, I could go on but that's enough.

Yelp
I could have sworn I wrote a review on Mings. We tried the other Chinese Food restaurant in Tower District and weren't impressed. However, we happened upon Mings and were very blown away. As much as of a foodie or yelper that I think I am, I am pretty basic and like what I like. My favorite Chinese food was Kowloon with the previous owners, their spicy chicken was second to none. However, Mings has now taken over as our favorite Chinese food. I love their walnut shrimp and their chinquan chicken! So flavorful and spicy. I've never been inside and usually order to go, but I've always been satisfied.

Yelp
The food? Amazing. The service? Friendly as all can be. The ambience? Feels like home. I love Ming's with all my heart, and even though I don't live in Fresno anymore, I make a point to eat here every time I visit my family. I dream of Ming's when we are separated by hundreds of miles.. I love you, Ming's. I do.

Yelp
There's a reason why this place has been around for so long. Friendly staff and reasonably priced GREAT food. Everything is served quickly and food is fresh as can be. 10/10 would recommend.

Yelp
Oh baby!! This has been a favorite spot for years!! The curry beef tomato chow mein is delicious!!! Give them a try!!
google avatar

Kirsten M.

Yelp
Good but not spectacular. I had the combo plate with pork chow mein , pork fried rice and fried shrimp. The demo was a bit dry as if it had been sitting under the light for too long. Pork chow mein was good very fresh but the sliced pork was very bland with little taste. Pork fried rice was the stand out. Lots of flavor and the chopped pork bit were sweet and smoky. I was surprised because fried rice is not usually my favorite. I will try again to see if it gets even better.

Yelp
We've been eating at Mings for years & refuse to go anywhere else for some good Chinese food. We moved across town & still drive all the way there for our regular "Letter G". The staff is always polite & helpful. I will always recommend them.

Dee P.

Yelp
My husband had to use the bathroom and he had to go through the kitchen to use the restroom and he came back to the car and said "Never again will we eat there" I told him to call the health department. I felt sick to my stomach after we had just at soup. Watch out!

Yelp
I've been going to Mings for years. Food is always delicious and fast! My favorite dish is the Pork Chop Suey Chow Mein. I take out mostly but I occasionally dine in.

Michele A.

Yelp
Let me just tell you if you want the best food of your life come to Ming's they make such a profound flavor and taste I truly do love Ming's A late night dinner is always good with Ming's thanks you

Yelp
I live a block away & only ate there once about 10 years ago. Craved Chinese food, so I ordered salt & pepper wings and the tomatoe beef chowmein in curry sauce. Chicken well flavored, super crispy & juicy. Curry sauce was delicate, smoky, which paired well with the buttery soft beef. I will be ordering there every chance I get! I ordered ahead to avoid the wait, but there was Only 1 couple seated around 5 p.m. so plenty of seating if need be. Staff was polite and welcoming. Street parking was available at the time too.

Yelp
Eaten here a couple of times recently. What I like is .....a very good value. Been there, just about 100 years. Very courteous service. Family atmosphere Had the oyster beef. Was pretty good. Tried other dishes and they were good too. Would recommend you use your restroom before arrival here, because theirs is not really open for consumers. Update....2023. Changed from 4 stars to 3.5 in my limited experience and book. Rounded up of course to 4 stars. Comfortable seating. Had the oyster beef again and it was tender but not quite as tasty as I remember earlier. Not sure about the very good value.

Yelp
I've been passing by Ming's for *years* (probably more like decades) and this was my first time ever trying their food. All in all, it was a mixed bag of dishes. While we really liked the sizzling rice soup and the "yee-fu wonton" dish, the tomato beef curry chow mein was just so/so (it did not taste like there was any curry in it), and the chicken chow fun was also just ok. The inside was also not super nice for dine-in (we ended up getting takeout), even having no bathroom for patrons. The prices are cheap and the service was fairly fast and the server helpful, but even so, I would only give this place three stars.

Yelp
Favorite go to place for Chinese Food. Love tofu vegetable and Chicken chow fun & chop suey chow mein

Yelp
Mings feels like home. I come here so often I can't believe I haven't left a review yet! My husband and I are here at least once a week, there have been times where we've come 3 times in a day lol There isn't a single thing about Mings that's not good. This place is ALWAYS busy. No matter what time of day and what day you come, if you don't see people sitting in , they're constantly getting take out. All their food is delicious so I'll list my recommendations. The service is always really good! They serve you right away and check up often. We're always served by Kevin and he's amazing! I love the dim lights and comfy booths. If we're not here having dinner with our 2 little ones we're here for a date night to escape our little ones. We've come to Mings since our kids were newborns until now. My recommendations: (we always ask for the noddles to be extra fried and it's perfect mix of extra crispy and soft noodles) - Walnut shrimp - Orange chicken (This dish I swear is pure comfort food! Way better and way different than Panda Express) -Egg flower soup (if you love a little spice add some hot oil and soy sauce, so good and perfect for cold weather) - Mapo Tofu (this stuff is too good! I never knew about fermented beans until this dish, the ingredients are genius and it's sooo saucy and a bit spicy) -Sweet and sour tofu (perfect thin batter and perfect balance of crispiness/soft tofu) -Broccoli beef on pan fried noddles -Mings special chow mein (it's FILLED with meat, absolutely perfect dish) -Beef in oyster sauce (fun fact: Bruce Lee's favorite dish and Ming's makes it perfect!)

Shelby R.

Yelp
0 stars. Do not eat here- unseasoned and barely cooked "chow mein" with a flavorless gelatin gravy on top. Absolutely disgusting. Food had a strange flavor, barely seasoned and flavorless food. Worst experience so far with Chinese food. No way people are giving this restaurant more than one star.
google avatar

Allison W.

Yelp
Food is so bad that I refused to eat it, and I've never had truly BAD Chinese food until I went to this place. It has an off putting flavor that I can't quite explain. Almost like they're cooking the food in old, rancid oil. Anyway, no clue how anyone would give this place a good review, but it's gross and the restaurant is dirty, as are the bathrooms.

SteveR N.

Yelp
"Ambiance"? Mings? 20th Century Chinese food joint . . . FOOD? In the approximately (¿ 40+ ?) YEARS I've been going here, it's ALWAYS been wonderful. Yes, that's been awhile, but I cannot remember EVER having a complaint. Fresh and tasty. Service? Well, long ago they always were friendly, courteous and helpful to the THEN young adult having dinner before a night of drinking and music at what STARTED as The Olympic Tavern next door . . . Now, the last few years I haven't been in, I've only gotten delivery, so I can't speak much to service, other than one person I complained to about some of the packages leaking saying they would immediately order some upgraded containers. Heck, MAYBE the place had a major upgrade to the "ambiance" since I was last in, but . . . I was never there for the scenery . . . I've just always loved MING's.

Yelp
Decent atmosphere and good service. Went around 7pm so it was quiet. No tvs just ppl enjoying their meals. Food were good & decent amount for the price, 5 of us for $50 worth of food not bad at all.
google avatar

Vanessa M.

Yelp
Love this place. I'm a regular. Order the hot and sour soup, Chinese style noodles, Mongolian beef, egg rolls. Damn, there's so many good items. Friendly service and family vibe.
google avatar

Lisa W.

Yelp
Service is excellent-been around for over 30 years as a family restaurant-the place could use a remodel and some decoration Feng Sui and the food is pretty good they give you a lot of food for the price. I recommend new flooring and a nice paint job. It just needs some TLC in the building but the people are great!

Yelp
I ordered the #1 dinner it had Noodled with sprouts which I had ask to be Removed I do not like them. We ordered more than one dinner . His food wasn't up to par Either. The WHITE RICE. TASTED FISHY. YUCK! The Noodles weren't to great either. Barely fried but very greese coated. The two pks of soysauce didn't help at all. Everything has a fishtaste but the shrimp tasted so bland it could of used sauce or something. fish it all tasted like. Fish and I hate fish . Haven't eaten here since 2013 and it's gone down hill. I won't be eating here again anytime soon. Tower district in fresno needs to improve the restaurant scene.

Yelp
Ming's always satisfies, and is incredibly quick! Somehow our favorite dish wound up being their chicken salad - but it's just a perfect neighborhood spot where everything is tasty and very reasonably priced. Glad they've survived for many decades!
google avatar

Mike D.

Yelp
We always try to support neighborhood and local businesses, and had not been two Mings in quite a while. Ordered the chicken salad and pork chow fun. The chicken salad was OK... It had a little more flavor than the one from Shanghai, but not that exciting really. I liked the freshness of the veggies in the chow fun, but again it just seemed to not have a lot of flavor. Fortunately I had some chili crisp oil and soy sauce at home to help it out a little bit. We will try it again, and I'll order some thing different next time, see how that goes.
google avatar

Krisetta W.

Yelp
First time ordering from them. The food was great. Made quick & was affordable. would definitely order again & recommend. Best we ever had. Everyone should try it... you wont be disappointed...

Yelp
Fast service and delicious food. I have been coming here since I was a little girl. A Fresno staple!

Yelp
ordered the chicken soup and garlic eggplant. nope! it was so thick, the flavor was not fresh but glue like. the soup was too salty.
google avatar

Nicholas Z.

Yelp
Amazing portions, classic ambience, and one of the best places to escape the heat and have a nice cool lunch. The good thing about Yelp is that you can help things that are kind of a secret to become less so :-) please become a regular at this place.

Lowell W.

Yelp
Wonderful food and great atmosphere from another time. Great service too! Can't beat the experience!!!

Anna V.

Yelp
Not constantly ok, always kinda on the rude side. Asking for condiments is asking alot. Food is never the same.
google avatar

Robert G.

Yelp
Outstanding Chinese food! Probably the best in Fresno. Terrific service and very reasonably priced!
google avatar

Lisa B.

Yelp
I was really craving Hot & Sour Soup. It was so spicy I couldn't eat it. Plus this was just egg and tofu soup. I also ordered a combination plate #2 no flavor at all.

Kalena V.

Yelp
best chinese spot in fresno, i've been coming here since i was a kid, my dad came here since he was a kid , and even my grandma :-) love the eggplant tofu with noodles, cheese wontons , or orange chicken!!! hope they are here forever!!
google avatar

Alisen F.

Yelp
Big fan of the egg flower soup where I wanted to order a second one later today. The special combination plate was a lot of food. The spicy beef chow mein wasn't too spicy per my request. The sweet and sour chicken was crispy and light. They do not use soy sauce in their fried rice but really good with out it.
google avatar

Janie O.

Yelp
My friend invited me to eat at this Chinese restaurant and I ordered the Chinese style pan fried noodles(mings special). I asked the waiter about it and he said it consisted of noodles, veggies, and 4 proteins. Beef, shrimp, chicken, and pork. When the food arrived, the veggies were sparse.Carrots, onion, and celery is all I tasted and saw. It was mostly chicken and beef. The pork was julienned. I could not find any shrimp. I asked the waiter and he said the order only contained two shrimp. When I found a shrimp, I discovered it was really small. There wasn't anything remarkable about this dish and my noodles were not crispy the way I like them. The flavor wasn't very good either.I gave it one star because that order was enough to feed two people but it was mostly noodles.

Esperanza R.

Yelp
Major cockroaches! Took my son to use the bathroom and had to hold him over the toilet because there were cockroaches everywhere.
google avatar

Taylor B.

Yelp
Favorite Chinese restaurant in Fresno and it's in the tower district!! I've gone here for years and it's always been fresh and good quality.

Marisella B.

Yelp
Yes.. this place is pretty nice.. Egg foo yung was the bomb! And I love the fried rice.. full of flavor and light in color.. not soy sauce based.
google avatar

Aub P.

Yelp
Have been coming to Ming's for years. It has been a staple for my family whenever wanting inexpensive Chinese food in the Tower. It isn't gourmet, but that's ok! It's good.
google avatar

Sean A.

Yelp
Great food. The Mongolian beef was spicy and tasty. Hot and sour soup hit the spot. The staff was friendly and attentive. Good place
google avatar

Ermila W.

Yelp
I've been tower regular since my city college days and I took my children here for lunch and this is by far the worst Chinese food we had... the servers were nice about it they took one item off our bill but honest the whole meal was disgusting, I was excited for their bacon fried rice and it came out all burnt with a heavy grease taste.... I was so hungry and I swear I was pissed but they were so nice like they had no clue their food tasted so awful, bottom line this is Xd off my list I'm not saying this place so be dinged but from my taste experience.... one word Booo thumbs down but on the bright side the place was neat and the servers were nice

Don V.

Yelp
I am a native of Fresno. I'm 65 years old and I have always have wanted to try Mings Chinese, but it wasn't until this year through my door dash app that I have. I could just kick myself for waiting so long. They have wonderful food! My fave is their Tomato beef curry chowmein. It's the best that I have had since back in the 70s when I used to get it from Sun Sun Kitchen.
google avatar

Alicia R.

Yelp
Amazing portion sizes and the food is soooo good. Definitely going to be my go to Chinese restaurant!
google avatar

Kyle G.

Yelp
One of best Chinese restaurant in Fresno. Spent $22 dollar to feed me and my wife twice. It's a hole in the spot place but the food is undeniable
google avatar

Bruce M.

Yelp
As for Chinese food, 3 star is sufficient, I think I've been around Asian food as far back as I can remember (I really can't remember when I started using chop sticks) I would go back here if I'm in the area, everyone was very nice and the restaurant was clean.
google avatar

Bruce M.

Yelp
Wow. This place gets 4 stars?! Sooooo bad! First, asked for soy sauce, chopsticks and plates. No go. Doesn't every good Chinese restaurant include soy packets? Come on. REALLY could have used that soy sauce. Second, pork chow mein was absolutely flavorless. The noodles were WHITE like they hadn't even been stir fried. No semblance of any flavoring sauce of any kind. Pork was individual full slices, not julienned and also flavorless. Bunch of vaguely cooked, flavorless bean sprouts covering the top of the flavorless noodles. Mmm. Even less flavor. Yay. Ugh. Third, sweet and sour pork... no sweet... no sour. If it wasn't for the extra sweet and sour sauce I got for the appetizers I would have been even MORE bored with the food. Fourth, potstickers... cold and flavorless... like everything else... even the extra hot sauce I HAD TO ORDER SEPARATELY didn't help. Same with the fried shrimp, foil wrapped chicken and won tons. "Redeeming" course? PREPACKAGED FORTUNE COOKIES!!!! ABSOLUTELY MISERABLE EXCUSE FOR CHINESE FOOD. All for $65... what a waste. Don't believe me? Just waste your money and try it. Should have gone for sushi... this probably won't get posted.

Yelp
This is our go to spot for Chinese food, it's a good hour drive. What I like about this restaurant is the dishes that are not usually ordered. Our family usually will get the Spicy boiled beef, spicy cabbage, spicy potatoes and chow fun (Our preference is the thicker noodles.) This is a family owned restaurant which means you will hear the children there when they are on break. I mention that because particular people get offended by hearing children, us on the other hand welcome it. It's great for the younger generation to see how the business works. Back to the food, we enjoy the level of spice, and textures for the dishes we order. It's a place where you have to order and find what you enjoy. There are some dishes I am not fond, I instead focus on the ones I do like. The host/server can be shy but warms up and can be quite friendly/funny. The food is good for Togo but even better right there when it just comes out. Overall this is our spot and I look forward to each time we go.
