Michelin-Starred Sushi Restaurant Announces Temporary Closure - Eater San Diego

"Minh Ky, a staple on El Cajon Boulevard for decades where its comforting menu of Chinese-style Vietnamese cuisine includes won ton and roast duck noodle soups and sate dishes, will soon be under new ownership. Phat Vuong and Kim Huong, who have been running the casual restaurant for almost 20 years, will be stepping away from operations on Monday, October 2. According to a statement posted on Minh Ky’s website, the family will continue to oversee its other restaurant and bar, Convoy Street’s Dumpling Inn and Shanghai Saloon. Daughter Sandy Vuong tells Eater that the next proprietors will be renovating the interior of the restaurant but should be keeping the name and menu intact." - Candice Woo

San Diego Restaurants Serving the Best Chinese Food - Eater San Diego

"This longtime staple in the Little Saigon district has been dishing up traditional Chinese-Vietnamese cuisine since 2004. The same owner, Chef Phat Vuong, runs Dumpling Inn and Shanghai Saloon on Convoy Street with his two daughters. Favorites at Minh Ky include wonton noodle soup and roast duck noodle soup, chock-full of protein, and homemade egg noodles with scallions and chives in a bony broth." - Helen I. Hwang

Best Vietnamese Restaurants in San Diego | Eater San Diego

"The corner restaurant has been serving up Vietnamese and Chinese cuisine since 2004. Owner Phat Vuong produces his own housemade egg noodles that feature in dishes like roast duck noodle soup and beef sate egg noodles, served dry with a bowl of scallion-filled broth on the side. He also marinates his own duck and makes his own dumplings, adding TLC to every dish." - Helen I. Hwang

Google
A hidden gem for sure. The #12 and the #27 are absolutely delicious. The combo #27 has a good mix, the wontons in this soup were the best I've ever had. The #12 beef was high quality and tender with a huge portion of beef. I prefer the egg noodles versus the rice noodles. I highly recommend it.

Google
This is the best beef tendon look fun I had in San Diego so far. The broth looks spicy, but it was mild and flavorful. I would order this again. Some other dishes looks good too that l am willing to try next time.

I love the food here! Duck egg noodles were great, also the chef’s special steak was amazing! Big portion with reasonable price, definitely will return.

Another hiding Chinese restaurant I haven’t tried was just around the corner. The first thing that caught my eye was the Roast Duck 🦆, although dry, I was looking for the sauce for it but there was none. My main go to was crispy friend noodles , I got the combination one , the combo was great but didn’t see much vegetables in it. My favorite that evening was the beef chow fun. I’m not a fan of fat noodles but this one ☝️ was good. Overall the food was great! I would like to try the other recipes. Go there and and bring your friends to try 😊

Parking: Parking plaza is a hit or miss. Sometimes overly crowded and must park in neighborhood/streets and times the lot has plenty of spaces Atmosphere: Fast pace dine in experience Service: Welcoming new ownership Food: Won ton: Amazing same taste as previous owners recipe. Goes perfect with the Chinese donut. They have the best Won Ton soup around. Seafood Chow Fun: Love all the fresh ingredients but slightly bland to me. Supports Military: No Discount Overall: I wanted to compare the food and experience to the nostalgic feeling coming here for many years and would like to say it still feels the same. The service does seemed a bit more modern than how it was traditionally then.

Google
I was super impressed with this place. My friends have been telling me that although it's a small place, the food is delicious! I ordered beef and broccoli, barbecue pork with noodles, and sweet and sour pork. The menu is extensive, I had a hard time choosing what to order. My friend ordered soup, and when it came to our table, I knew that was my order for next time. I can't wait to return!

Google
This noodle house is likely the oldest in San Diego. While parking can be a bit tricky, it's important to avoid the back lot, as it belongs to a different business. Unfortunately, there was a minor mistake with our order. I requested dry noodles, but received soup instead. Perhaps there was a mix-up with my uncle's order. My soup was good, but I've had better in Northern California. My uncle suggested I should have ordered the roasted chicken or tender duck. I'll definitely return to try those next time. Despite being busy, the staff worked diligently to clean tables promptly. I'm eager to come back and explore more of the menu.

Google
Great place for Chinese style Vietnamese food! The noodles are all so good. The duck was sooo good! Chinese donut were hot and Crispy although the porridge could have been richer. Its a bit hard to find parking though, better car pool.

Yelp
always a great place to visit when you want a delicious meal. it's cheaper to come here than to cook some of my staples: * wonton egg noodle soup * crispy chicken leg with egg noodle * honey walnut shrimp * satay egg noodle soup dry * crispy noodles with tofu + veggies * chow fun * duck lo mein * duck egg noodle with the herbal broth they do take card & apple pay!

Yelp
I ordered from here when I was visiting a friend nearby, and was pleasantly surprised. Everything we ordered was delicious, and the portions were good. We had wonton noodle soup, beef chow fun, and house fried rice. My friend still talks about that meal from last year, and we've ordered from here multiple times, and it's always great. The menu is huge with lots of options, so there's bound to be something for everyone here. We've only ordered takeout but there is a small (often busy) dining room as well.

Yelp
This little place has an assortment of Vietnamese and Chinese dishes. They specialize in the Vietnamese egg noodle dishes which I highly recommend. Portions are generous. Parking is difficult as it is in a crazy small center. Worse than a Trader Joe's parking lot if you know what I mean.

Yelp
Love this place! I came here probably 8 years ago for the first time and went back recently. It was awesome. The duck our go to as well as their egg noodle soups. Great Vietnamese and Chinese menu! Parking is tough. Great service. Check it out!

Yelp
First time and we thoroughly enjoyed. Definitely a mom and pop, no frills no thrills, roll up your sleeves deliciousness. Every chili sauce, including hoisin, you need. You greeted nicely, smiles. Food service is smooth and quick. We also enjoyed Chicken Fried Rice and Walnut Shrimp. No pictures. It was too good and could not stop once we started eating :D We look forward to returning. We will!

Yelp
They changed management and it's nowhere near what it used to be. Favorite war won ton soup in town is now non existent. So sad that it's changed so drastically.Their egg rolls were horrible. And the service was not good at all. They were understaffed when we last ate here and won't be coming back sadly.
google avatar

Yelp
My family and I dined at Minh Ky and sadly, the experience fell far short of my expectations. The food, drink, and overall atmosphere were simply bad. Once known for its excellence, the change in ownership has had a negative impact on the quality of the food. Additionally, my order was also wrong, adding to the disappointment. On a positive note, the new owner was gracious enough to offer a complimentary dessert drink, but that wasn't enough to salvage the evening. Unfortunately, I will not be returning to Minh Ky.
google avatar

Alex S.

Yelp
It was pure coincidence that brought me here! I was planning on going to a nearby restaurant but when I got there, the place was closed early for the day for some kind of staff meeting. So I went to Minh Ky, which is the nearest open restaurant from where I was. I got the beef sate chow fun, kung pao chicken and an egg soda. Both beef chow fun and the kung pao chicken were delicious. The beef sate chow fun had plenty of beef, and flavorful sate sauce; kung pao chicken had lots of green peppers and onions but still plenty of chicken. I really enjoyed both dishes. The staff were friendly and kind enough to explain some other dishes that I was curious about. I'll definitely be back to try other stuff here.
google avatar

Lisa W.

Yelp
I love this place when I want Vietnamese egg noodles or big flat noodle dishes. (Hu tieu or mi). They do a good job! I usually get the combo mi with everything. Then we also get a half roast duck on the side. This time my husband got a dry beef egg noodle. It had a curry flavor and it was delicious. The viet coffee is using the phin drip style. Everything is tasty! The staff speaks English and they are friendly too. Busy place for lunch! One thing is the parking is the worst in humans history. Even worst then a Traders Joe parking lot. There's no parking, weird parking spaces and people who park in a non parking space so that it blocks an entry way out! Crazy parkers.

Yelp
Been coming here for years. Sad the owners have retired BUT also happy for them. Glad they sold it some long time customers and that they kept the menu similar. I order my usual Dumpling & Wonton Egg Noodles Soup, very tasty and still as good as I remembered. The service was very good they even tried to speak Cantonese to us. So sweet of them to cater to me and parents especially since my parents speak very little English. Glad this place hasn't changed too much. They did update the interior, which I find mind at all. Still a very good spot to eat at.
google avatar

Mikey H.

Yelp
The owners have done gone and retired! Imagine my sadness when a friend sent the post! However, they sold it to long time customers who have made some minor changes. They are streamlining the menu and concentrating on the dishes that sell well! They have some of the old staff, but have hired some new faces too! I ordered my usual won ton min. Soooo good! Still the same great flavors! I was also giving a basil seed refreshing drink that is really good! I stopped by for dinner and ordered the kung pao chicken, half roast duck, chicken chow mein, and bbq pork fried rice. Everything was still delicious! So though there are some small minor changes, the dishes are still the same! They have also changed the interior a bit, but it is still a very nice relaxing dining room to come to. Whether eating with family or solo, still a great place to come to!

Yelp
wonton soup w/ bbq pork (5/5): i usually get the egg noodles & soup separate- the noodles come with a yummy sauce this way. it's delicious, sometimes it's too oily, but other days it's made perfectly. you need to eat this dish with tép mỡ and a side of chili oil to dip your wontons and pork in. roast duck (3/5): bf was craving duck- satisfied his craving but would not get again here as they're known mainly for their wonton soup. not terrible but did not taste freshly roasted and the skin wasn't crispy. i've eaten here since i was a kid & i have never liked wonton soup at any other chinese/viet restaurant. it's way better than tim ky in mira mesa. the parking lot is very small and crowded, you have to be lucky to find something available. otherwise, you can just park in a nearby lot and walk across the street. food comes out in a couple minutes after ordering & it comes out extremely hot which i love.

Yelp
Even with the new ownership, this place still has the same home cook taste, and feel. Highly recommended for any meals throughout the day.

Yelp
Food: Duck noodle soup 8/10 (duck was superb though) Beef tripe dry noodles 7/10 TLDR: Great place for cheap food and portions are large. I loved this place. It had a very mom and pop feel. They were quick and friendly. The prices were so cheap and the food was very authentic. Portions and flavor were great as well. For like $25, I was full for the entire day. We ordered duck noodle soup and it came with like 5 large pieces of duck and a giant bowl of noodle soup. Duck was the star of the show, succulent and amazing taste. We also ordered the dry satte noodle with beef tripe and that was very good as well. It came with a side of soup. The satte dry noodles was pretty dry but the soup helped. Food came out immediately, service is quick and friendly. This is a hidden gem and I would love to come back. Highly recommend!

Yelp
As a long-time patron of Minh Ky spanning over a decade, it's disheartening to see the change in ownership. While the menu items have largely stayed consistent, there's a noticeable shift in taste and quality. It's not a drastic change, but discernible enough to make a difference. Surprisingly, the restaurant appears significantly cleaner now, which leaves me wondering if this has impacted the overall taste experience. Despite the alterations, Minh Ky still holds a place in my heart, but it's not quite the same as before.
google avatar

Yelp
I am so glad I found this little gem in the rough. It doesn't look like much from the parking lot but this mom and pop has some seriously delicious eats. The staff were super friendly and provided service with a smile. We were brought water without having to ask and they even brought out some sweet basil seed drinks on the house. Now that's what I'm talking about when it comes to stellar service. The wonton noodles really hit the spot. The broth was flavorful, the noodles cooked just right and the wontons were meaty and full of quality ingredients. The beef chow fun was also delicious. This is what I'd consider a hole in the wall but it left me feeling satisfied and happy. Will definitely return and try all the other items on the menu
google avatar

Ling L.

Yelp
To be fair, I was expecting OC level noodles so my standards were very high. Not sure why I thought SD would have good Chinese-Vietnamese style noodles. The noodle soup was not that great. Soup was kinda lacking, wontons were okay. But the roasted duck felt like it was left out the whole time and was not fresh at all. Although I did take it home to make roasted duck fried rice though Service is what you'd typically expect from a small Asian restaurant. Nothing great, but nothing bad.
google avatar

Linh N.

Yelp
This small hole in the wall is worth the hype Huge portions, friendly service, home-y bustling atmosphere, and good quality, piping-hot food The space is small and their parking lot is a bit of a disaster, but it's worth it! We got: - Mi Xao Don Beef (Crispy beef chow mien), this dish is very nostalgic to me as my family made it often, but it exceeded my expectations - Combo Rice Noodle Soup, the broth was clean, you can tell they skim the broth a lot before serving, and there was so many toppings - Quarter duck - super succulent and flavorful, doesn't have the crispy skin but was still tasty nevertheless
google avatar

Julie B.

Yelp
Still one of my favorite place in San Diego! I placed a phone order for the dumpling and wonton egg noodle soup (dry) and crispy chicken leg. Also must order a side of the pickled papaya! So good!! Everything was delicious! The crispy leg is also a must order. The sauce that goes with it is really good. Just a heads up they have a lunch break between 3-4pm so if you plan on placing an order, no one will pick up their phone at that time.
google avatar

Yelp
Heard that this restaurant has really good roast duck noodles soup. We had to stop by and check this spot out since we were in town for an event nearby Location: restaurant is located within a small plaza with small parking lot. it's difficult to find a spot to park your car Service: service and food came out pretty quickly. After you get done with eating, you would have to walk up the the register and pay your bill there. They do not bring it to your table. Food: ordered wonton noodles soup and a side order of roast duck and house crispy noodles. Noodles had a chewy texture and the wonton is salty. Roast duck is crispy and just the right amount of flavors. As for the house crispy noodles, it was good but needs more sauce. Overall food was good. I would definitely come back and try other things on the menu.
google avatar

Yen T.

Yelp
I'm bummed that this is no longer my favorite restaurant in San Diego (bawling inside) and I hate to say that this place is not the same anymore. Why?! Because they changed ownership. My husband came today on a Thursday and was surprised there was plenty of parking. It is probably due to the fact that the quality/taste of food has definitely changed. The broth is no longer flavorful and the wontons and dumplings tastes... well let's say different and not in a good way. They also charge a nickel and dime. Used to be able to order half egg noodles half rice noodles for no charge but now it's $2 additional as if we were getting extra noodles but in reality it's all in the same one bowl. Fatties are no longer free, but $0.75 and they were definitely not crispy but stale. The only two food items that were consistent were the Chinese donuts and pickled papaya. Service is actually better too but oh well.. it's God's way of telling us to try new restaurants now!
google avatar

Christina N.

Yelp
After seeing all these reviews, I was hoping for a little piece of home. I did for the most part of shitty parking lots, sticky condiments, bilingual menus and supplies easily seen in the corner of the restaurant. My friend ordered the veggie egg noodle soup and I ordered the combination wonton noodle soup. We both were extremely disappointed. It was bland but at least there was a lot food in the bowl. Until my friend pulled a hair out of her noodle bowl. We quickly asked for the bill and went straight to Taco Bell for a much more satisfying meal. I will never come back.
google avatar

Yelp
I've been going to Minh ky for several years/ Both my wife and my self enjoy great service/ food has increased in price/ but very large serving/ always take home //the soups are very tasty/ I get seafood soup no tofu/and my wife likes wonton with duck/I recommend this restaurant
google avatar

Fiona N.

Yelp
Good Vietnamese Chinese food served here. The flavors are not quite the same as Chinese Cantonese food but it's still good. We had fried crispy seafood noodles, which I find the texture of the noodles quite different from Chinese noodlesS. It seems like the noodles were hallow in the middle. Roast duck was good but they microwaved it so it kinda tasted like leftovers. Wonton noodles soup was my favorite. I like the wide rice noodles, they were fresh and thin. Service was good. The place is really clean unlike the places we've been to in the area.
google avatar

Nancy H.

Yelp
This is located in SD's Little Saigon and this place was a very pleasant surprise. We came here on a Saturday at 1 PM and immediately got seated. Food and service was extremely fast, we had our dishes out within 5-10 minutes of ordering. It's a little hole in the wall and I'm so glad we found it! Family owned businesses never disappoint. Roast duck over rice - 7.5/10. The duck was delicious but the ratio for rice and duck was a bit too large. Wonton soup - 8.5/10 Combination chow mein - 10/10 everything was perfectly cooked!
google avatar

Mary C C.

Yelp
Food is very tasty and freshly prepared Not over seasoned or greasy but just right. Love their wonton soup, roasted meats especially the duck, Singapore noodles. All the dishes we've had are very good!
google avatar

Allison C.

Yelp
My favorite place to get wonton soup. Small private parking lot, I don't like parking here cos it's crowded and usually full. Transients outside, smells gross. Restaurant is small. We went on a Sunday afternoon. Restaurant was packed. No wait list. You stand in a line outside the restaurant cos it's so small and you just wait for your turn for a table to free up. Food: 1) 1/2 duck- so juicy, the best duck I've had. Just wish the had the dipping sauce but honestly it's so good as is since it's tender. 2) fried rice- forgot which one we ordered 3) beef and chicken dish - from special menu on the wall. Forgot the names of each dish. Both were good. 4) pork, dumpling & wonton egg noodle soup- my favorite place for wonton soup- huge serving. The reason why I come back to minh ky. And I love the free guava candy u get when you pay.
google avatar

Chris W.

Yelp
Total grease pit! Low quality, food, frozen dumplings nothing fresh everything is greasy . Not sure how this restaurant has such high reviews . Go take a peek in the kitchen and it's literally 100 years old. I think the cockroaches are taking over. Completely disgusting ! Wake up people . This is definitely not quality food..
google avatar

Yelp
Minh Ky is another hole-in-the-wall authentic Vietnamese restaurant that we were happy to discover while visiting North Park. I was hesitant at first when a relative suggested that we go there but so glad that we went. The location is not ideal. Small Plaza with tight and limited parking. But as we entered, the place was packed like sardines. We were lucky and got a table after a party of 4 was willing to move to a smaller table so our party could sit at a larger table. Don't expect 5-star ambiance and service. The servers are no-nonsense and abrupt as they try to clear and turn tables as quickly as they can. With that being said, the dishes (wonton noodle soup, stirred fried steak cubes, and seafood with crunchy noodles) were served nice and hot (temperature-wise) and tasted amazing. We will go and try other wonderful dishes the next time we are down in North Park.
google avatar

Yelp
We used to come here for Chinese Noodles. Haven't been here for a while and now probably under new owner. Price went up double and portion size is smaller and they now charged for To'p Mo $1.50 that is crazy !!! Old owner never charged us and most restaurants are giving out for free upon customers requested. It is part of the meal as toping to make it more tasty. Food was okay and not that great any more, probably not coming back :(
google avatar

Emily H.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I ordered the roast duck rice noodle soup and sate beef egg noodles with soup on the side. It was good and we really liked how the prices were reasonable. I personally preferred the roast duck more than the sate beef. I felt like I got 1/2lb of roast duck and they charred the meat well. Some parts were burnt which my boyfriend didn't like haha. I also ordered an iced Viet coffee which was okay. Service was great but parking was terrible to find though.
google avatar

Anna Z.

Yelp
Some of the most authentic chinese noodles in San Diego! The roast duck is legit here and that's coming from an east coast girl. (Sorry I just feel like we do it better out there) The noodles and soup are so good! Classic meal to grab when I'm feeling homesick. The service and ambiance is where we kinda fall off to be honest. the service is harsh to say the least but I guess it's part of the charm of these local spots haha. They won't welcome you in or really ask how they can help. They won't thank you but the food is worth it. In terms of vibes, the parking lot is tough and always crowded. I've seen a grown man pee right in front of the store like full private parts out and everything.. Cant use that to judge this spot though because the noodles are worth it to me LOL
google avatar

Nelson L.

Yelp
This place did not disappoint! Service was good and the food came out quickly. That being said we came at around 2pm, but there was still a decent amount of people. The place is also pretty small so I wasn't surprised to see a lot of people making to go orders. We ordered the Yang Chow fried rice, wonton egg noodles, roasted duck, lemongrass beef, and noodle soup. All were good price and good portions. But most importantly, it was all delicious!
google avatar

James D.

Yelp
If you're on the lookout for a satisfying bowl of Asian-style noodle soup that hits the spot and gives you a homey feeling, Minh Ky Noodle is the place to be. This restaurant brought back fond memories of Tung Kee Noodle in the Bay Area, and while it may not be exactly the same, it comes close enough. The combination egg noodle soup at Minh Ky is my favorite. It always comes out fast and piping hot. Parking can be a bit of a challenge, but it's a small price to pay for the great food and atmosphere.

Yelp
I read somewhere and saw the Yelp ratings and it was supposed to be a really good restaurant but I was really disappointed. It is located in a small plaza and it is a small place which is very outdated and simple, do not expect much. The food was not good and a large portion of the plates were onions. We ordered: - Squid with black bean sauce.- squid was chewy, very bland flavor. - Lemongrass pork.- this was one of the better dishes but had too many onions and little pork. - Roast Duck.- lacked flavor, not good. - Beef with black pepper.- very bland flavor, not good. - BBQ pork and vegetables with rice.- one of the worst BBQ pork I have ever tried, no flavor at all. In general flavors were very bland, I didn't like the food. Prices are a little cheaper than other places but most of the dishes consist of onions and very low quality so you get what you pay for. Maybe the soups are better but after this experience I won't be coming back.

Yelp
Good noodle dishes at reasonable price. The menu here is quite extensive a bit overwhelming for visiting the first time. This place is about 4 miles away from the Weingart theater so we thought we'd give it a try after a show. We tried the coffee and soda lemonade which were both good. The combination chow mien was like a lo mien with chicken pork beef etc. We also ordered chicken crispy noodles which were fried egg noodles with chicken and vegetables in gravy poured on top. I had roast duck and egg noodle soup with wonton. It was quite good and reasonably priced. I also noticed that the did have chicken and salted fish fried rice here--an old specialty that my dad use to love. We'll have to come back to try some of the other dishes.

Yelp
My third time going, food is amazing. Going to be a regular for me from now on. Service was quick and very nice. If you love egg noodle wonton style soups this place is for you.

Always a good place to eat with generous portion their wonton and duck are to die for!!!!!!

Yelp
Came here last night and ordered the beef fried rice and orange chicken. Place wasn't busy and we were seated fast. Food came out quick. We had a great server. Atmosphere was good as there were a group of workers playing cards in the middle of the restaurant. It provided the room with great energy. The beef fried rice was my favorite and it had great flavor. The orange chicken was decent and better than I thought it would be as I typically love orange chicken from Panda Express. My wife ordered the wonton dumpling soup which came with a lot of dumpling and noodles. I liked the salty yet subtle flavor of the broth. And the Chinese donuts were light and outstanding. This was a nice gem that we found and I recommend others try this place out.
google avatar

Yelp
A cute little hole in the wall in El Cajon area! I came for lunch and was immediately seated. The service was quick and we ordered and received our food very quickly. I ordered the wonton soup. It was served warm and has great flavor. Perfect for a side dish, to share amongst a group, or for a cold day. I also ordered the combination crispy noodles. The noodles were so crispy! They also maintained their crisp after sitting in the sauce for a while! It came with a combination of vegetables and proteins. A filling dish and perfect to compliment the wonton soup. Such a great find! The prices are so reasonable too!

Lynn N.

Yelp
Sooooooo good. My favorite is the soup with egg noodles and wantons. Omg. The menu is huge, and many items are delicious. But i come back for this soup.

Yelp
Such a nice family-owned mom&pop's Chinese noodles soup restaurant that has been in the heart of SD for the past 20 years. My family & I come here at least once a week and we love love it every single time ! A new owner took over and carries on the friendly & homey spirit. This eatery spot not only provides food that warmth your heart & tummy , but also provides friendly staffs that are always attentive. Whenever you crave for a nice warm bowl of noodles soup or wonton, this is the place to go!!! Of course they have so many other delicious dishes that cannot resist. A must try!
google avatar

Yelp
I wish I found this place earlier during my stay in SD, because it is an absolute gem. Some of the best noodle soup I've had in this city hands down. Plus the prices are extremely reasonable. Super casual restaurant and no frills service. If you want good food and heart portions, this is the spot.

Yelp
New owners food wasn't that great. I remember when this was owned by the original owners and it was always crowded. Today I went and ate there with my mother and the food was mediocre at best. Egg drop soup bland with added sesame oil really and honestly egg drop soup doesn't have peas and carrots for the ten divines! Had the Mapo tofu also it was the most disappointing Mapo tofu in my life! Why it's because it was super sweet and the right seasoning and sauce to save someone life as it wasn't even Mapo tofu they used black bean sauce. I'm a chef for my own restaurant and Mapo tofu is one of my go to foods in a Cantonese restaurant. While I tried my mother's wonton noodles bland as the Arctic Snow. Service was the only decent thing. Service was average they only filled my water once and didn't even ask how was the food. Food 0/5 Service 3/5 Ambiance 1/5 Didn't match any theme Food Presentation 1/5 - No presentation presented used Japanese dinnerware bowls and spoons

Yelp
The egg wonton soup is here is the winner for me. I wasn't even sick but drinking this during the morning work week made me feel rejuvenated. These aren't your weenie wontons with 90% wrapping and 10% stuffing... Each one is a scrumptious bite full of flavor and savor. As someone who grew up eating this the hole in the wall feel of the place makes it very homey and personally adds +2 comfort to my meal. I actually came back the same day to pick up orders of the walnut shrimp for a friendsgiving and they were a hit! The shrimps are a bit on the tinier side compared to what I'm used to in LA but they do the job.

Yelp
Im sad to say the quality has declined. This was the OG spot for chinese/viet cuisine for years. It's not that anymore. I had the egg noodles with char xiu (Mi Xa Xiu) and it was so bland. The noodles were "tough" as if they weren't cooked enough and there was barely any xa xiu included. It was like they gave me a half order or something. The broth was "ok" but that was also bland. I use to have to stop myself from ordering a 2nd bowl to take home but this time I couldn't even finish what I had. My friend had the walnurt shrimp and the rice was dried out like it was yesterday's batch. I've been eating rice since a baby and have made it 1000's of times at this point. They definitely used old rice. Definitely not a good experience. I don't see myself going back anytime soon.

Yelp
Came here after having a long night... there wasn't a wait around 3pm and we were seated right when we walked into the door. Parking in this plaza is usually difficult. We circled around for a bit. I wanted something soupy so I ordered the vegetable egg noodle soup with tofu. I thought that the soup would be a type of egg soup but no! The apparently the noodles were made out of egg! I got confused. I also thought that the rice noodle soup had rice in it!! But anyways the soup was good and the tofu was my favorite part. Good amount of food, but not a fan of the egg noodle itself. The lemonade soda was delicious. It tasted a bit like a mojito. This was my first time trying it. The beef noodles were good as well and very soft. It was saucy. Overall great service here!

Yelp
There are a few restaurants that scream my childhood, and Minh Ky is one of them! The place is the same... the owner lady is the same... the food is the same... and I love it all! The food never fails... I wish I had it in me to try more dishes... but I love what I love. I always get the wonton and dumpling egg noodle soup with a side of roasted duck... and if someone is willing to share with me, I always get the crispy combination noodles! Never disappoints and always hits the spot! This time, we also got one of the Chef's Specials, crispy chicken leg... and my goodness... it was absolutely delicious! The skin was perfectly crispy, meat was juicy and the sauce is tangy... light and so good! Place is always clean... and the lady is always so sweet and asks about my parents when they aren't with me. I loved this place as a kid, and now my kids love this place too! Will never stop coming here!
