The East Bay Gets Hella Hella Bagels With the Opening of ... Hella Bagels in Albany | Eater SF

"Four years after a 2019 fire, I read that the San Jose diner has returned, welcoming back longtime customers with plates of omelets and pancakes. The space has been upgraded and the menu refreshed: classics like chicken-fried steak have been updated, and the owners added bowls of pho and spring rolls carried over from their now-shuttered sister business, Pho Mai #2." - Dianne de Guzman

This breakfast place never disappoints! The portions are hearty, and every dish feels freshly made with care. Whether it’s their classic breakfast platters or specialty items, everything tastes delicious and satisfying. I often stop by after my doctor’s appointments at VMC, and it has become my go-to spot for comfort food and relaxation. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, making it the perfect place to unwind with a hot cup of coffee and a hearty meal. The staff are always friendly, and the service is consistently great. Highly recommended!

This place has the charm of a classic California-style American diner with a warm, cozy feel the moment you step inside. The menu is full of great options, and everything we tried was cooked with care and packed with flavor. The staff is genuinely friendly, adding to the inviting atmosphere. Even though the diner has been fully renovated, it still carries a wonderful old-school spirit that gives it character. I can already see myself coming back regularly because the experience was that good. Plus, they now offer mimosas, beer, and wine, which makes it an even better spot for a relaxed meal or weekend brunch.

Stopped in for a quick breakfast while I was working in San Jose. It was great! Service was awesome food was very good and I liked the atmosphere. Chicken fried steak and gravy was excellent! I always have to have a pancake too, it didn't disappoint. I always order my hash browns extra crispy and most places dont make it happen this place nailed it! I Definitely will stop back in again next time I'm in town.

While I’ve frequented Mini Gourmet for decades from grabbing breakfast late night to lunch or dinner at the counter, and my grandparents were regulars since way back in the day, today was our first time back after their remodel and reopening. Plenty of parking, clean dining room, affordable menu options, friendly and prompt service, and besides the beautiful remodel, it reminded me of old times. San Jose cafe hospitality at its finest. Glad to add them back into our rotation for breakfast spots…and looking forward to my next lunch or dinner there too.

Great little restaurant! Bigger on the inside than on the outside! Friendly service, fresh food.

Wish this place was good. Our waitress didn't really understand what a "special" was and i had to explain it only to recieve the response, "the specials are on the sides." Then when i asked for a hot tea she did not know what types of tea they had, and listed multiple that actually weren't available, then had to be asked to bring the selection over. We never recieved any check up after ordering so the hot pot of water from the tea and the tea carousel lived on our already small table. The scrambled eggs were bland. The hashbrowns needed to stay on slightly longer as well. The pancakes didn't taste like they were made from scratch and were dry. The salmon benedict was good, they seemed to use a seared salmon instead of a thin sliced smoked salmon so you get a little more which is nice. Unfortunatly, the holandaise sauce didn't have the right consistency or have the lemon flavor that really is suppsosed to bring it all together. This is a fine place to try once, but there are a dozen other breakfast places where the food is better, the servers are more knowledgeable and able, and the prices are the same, if not better. Lower your expectations before coming in.

Short Review: Lovely small family owned diner. Beautifully remodeled and decorated. They serve a large variety of American classics like eggs Benedict, omelettes, steak, and burgers. They have a good selection of soft drinks, fruit juices, wine, margaritas, as well as domestic and imported beers. Lovely place with fair pricing is what you’ll get when you come here. They accept card and cash for anybody who may be curious. Long review: Immediately upon entering, I was greeted by the waitress. Very lovely staff I was seated immediately and given the menu. The order for my drink was taken, and I was given a few minutes to look at the menu to see what I would like. They had a huge selection of different types of food, mostly American dishes. They also offered a small selection of classic Vietnamese soup dishes. They also have a small dessert menu, which include items like pie cake, and ice cream. The restaurant was very clean and well organized. The area was spacious and not cluttered. Within 10 to 15 minutes of ordering my food was ready, piping hot, and fresh. The portion sizes are huge, so the price point is very fair. They are not overpriced, which is great because a lot of places are over pricing these days. Highly recommend 10 / 10. Constructive Suggestion: The omelette was absolutely delicious. My only suggestion would be to lighten up on the salt, just a little. Other than that everything was mouthwateringly delicious.

A quiet Sunday afternoon. Had a delicious breakfast and server. A little pricey but people hook you up when you treat your waiters like humans, Karens.

Yelp
Had a wonderful experience here! Warm welcome & extensive menu. Dined in on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn't too packed. Our group had 2 adults and 3 young children. Shared a chicken Cobb salad & BBQ steak sandwich - fresh ingredients and excellent cook on steak! Kids loved their Mac and cheese and chocolate chip pancakes! Will definitely return to try more food! Great service as well!

Yelp
This was my first time trying Mini Gourmet. I decided to get the French toast combo with eggs, hash browns, and sausage. The French toast was dry and had hard, rough edges making it difficult to chew and enjoy. Similarly the hash browns were equally dry. The eggs and sausage were definitely my favorite! The service was great except it did take over 30 minutes for our food to arrive. The overall restaurant was well kept and charming. I would like to come back and perhaps just try something different!

Yelp
I've always gone to Mini Gourmet when I was a kid and the food always hits. It was very nostalgic to return and dine here. I went during lunch on a weekday so there weren't as many customers. It was pretty quiet, but food and service was still wonderful. * Chicken Fried Steak - I haven't had a good country fried steak in a while. The country gravy goes with it perfectly & it was a big enough portion to fill us up. * Asian Chicken Salad - You're probably wondering who orders salad at a breakfast spot but shockingly, this salad was pretty decent. The portion was large & all the vegetables were fresh + crispy. Overall 5/5 stars. I will likely return to try the ube pancakes and all the other all-day breakfast items.

Yelp
Saturday late night and no one was really there, I'd more like Not Busy. Waitress was prompt, friendly & on it with her job, seeing that she was the only one waiting on all the tables in the restaurant. This place has a so many things on the menu & that just means, it's a little something for everybody & whatever it is you get, you won't be disappointed. I'm glad this place re opened because for a minute, they were closed & not going to re open. This is a place to go, if you're undecided on what to eat, but you will be satisfied. Parking is super small & gets tight, so if it gets busy, you'll have to park elsewhere but, if you are in the area & your craving something, stop by this place & check it out.

Yelp
So far, the best-tasting breakfast place I've ever been to in San Jose. I've tried so many breakfast places and I always say, ehh just another breakfast. But this one, hands down surprised me. The country potatoes are yummy, and the bacon is cooked to crispy perfection. The steak omelette was fluffy and the meat was tender. The flavor is just great. The ambiance is so cozy and relaxing, it feels like home. The attendant was quick and the food was served almost immediately--a great way to end an early hospital appointment and eat a hearty breakfast. I'm glad i stopped by.

Yelp
I've eaten here before and have ate the breakfast here and it was good. Came tonight on Friday and noticed there was only 4 people seated in here...odd for a Friday night. I ordered the prime rib and my husband ordered a steak sandwich. When our food arrived I looked at my plate in disbelief because it did not look like prime rib. It looked like a flat piece of steak with fat around it. I went to cut it and it was dry as heck.. even dipping it in the anjus it was still dry and tasted like steak!! The hubby's steak looked better then mine!!! $32 for a wannabe prime rib...don't waste your money!!! Such a disappointment because I was really hungry.

Yelp
It's been decades since the last time I came here! This place has been around since the 80's. We were at the farmers market in Campbell in the morning and on the way home stopped here for lunch. The place looked nicely remodeled, and the hostess and servers were all really friendly and smiling! We were sat right away, and I ordered the open faced Turkey sandwich which according to the menu had home cooked turkey. It came with mashed potatoes and gravy and vegetables and a cup of soup. The soup was shrimp corn chowder and came beautifully presented on a plate with a pack of oyster crackers. The soup was very delicious and homemade tasting and I loved it! The main meal came and it was very obvious that the turkey was uber thin sliced deli turkey. It was very disappointing.... the bread was regular white bread, the mashed potatoes were good as was the gravy and a nice portion of mixed vegetables. My husband and daughter enjoyed their breakfast. I would definitely come back and try some more things!

Yelp
I have to say this place has the most delicious food. Have been here a couple of times. I have no complaints about the quality of the food. However, I regret to say the service isn't the greatest. If you are of a darker skin complexion expect to be ignored, expect for the service to forget about you. It's been 30 minutes and no one has checked on us since the food was brought to us. Mind you the place is pretty empty so no excuses for the lack of costumer service.

Yelp
This Mini Gourmet restaurant used to be one of my favorites when I was younger. Then they closed down for about 5 years and after their long hiatus they are back in business and I'm so glad. Stopped in yesterday for some breakfast and was pleasantly surprised and impressed. It was clean, well lit, great service , and the food was excellent. The portions were big and the prices were reasonable. My wife had the Joe's omelette and I had the waffle combo. Needless to say I finished everything on my plate. If you want a place that has great breakfast, lunch and dinner then the Mini gourmet fits the bill. Give it a try you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
The staff here is friendly and they are very attentive! I love that they make everything as you order it! The food is fresh off the grill and I love that it's still warm! It's very relaxed here during dinner and they have great music.

Yelp
Well where to start? This used to be our bar time breakfast spot. Location has been there for a long long time. Closed due to fire then covid hit. They are back and we were excited! The location has had a face lift. The staff is still great and welcoming. We came at 5 on a weeknight. Literally no one but staff there. We took a chance and did the prime rib. Our dinner friends got wings and one got shrimp pasta. The prime rib was over cooked. We ordered medium and got grey. There was no bark so there was no flavor. My baked potato was smaller than my first. My veggies were good . Wouldn't go back for dinner. Maybe for breakfast.

Yelp
Hey there Party People, I have always been a person that loves a good hole in the wall Dinner. The Mini Gourmet fits the bill to a tea but with a modern clean interior. The waitress treated you like you were family. She gave great suggestions and was very honest about the menu...much appreciated. Hubby got the homemade chili to start. He really liked it. It had the perfect ratio of meat to bean, which is very difficult to hit, according to hubby. It had great flavor as well. For the main meal Hubby had the French Dip. The meat was pretty lean and not dried out so the flavor was there. The au jus sauce was on point. Over all Hubby gave the 4 out of 5 I got the Philly Cheese Steak with light peppers. The Roll it came on was super soft and delicious it held up to the juices and didn't get soggy, always a plus. The meat had some small fatty bits but over all was excellent super tasty. Putting this place on the map of good old fashion comfort food. Will definitely make this in the rotation of places to eat. They do have a large vegetarian and pho menu as well. Be kind to one another

What can I say. The food, Hands Down! Me and my friend like the food! Plus I used to bring Mama Here before the Covid Shut Down! Great Service! I like the clean Bathroom! I can't wait for the Jukebox!

Yelp
Mini Gourmet at 599 South Bascom Ave, San Jose, CA 95128 Willow Glen is back after being closed for 5 years. It's the same owner but due to Covid, a fire, and renovations, it's been a long road to recovery. For now, they are open for breakfast and lunch only. My wife and I have eaten here twice so far, for lunch and breakfast, and both times the food was really good, especially the BBQ beef brisquit. The steamed broccoli really hit the spot along with the home made potato salad and cole slaw The breakfast visit we ordered the pancake combo with their home fried potatoes and french toast. Everything tasted home made, especially the salsa and pico de gallo. The restaurant is super clean and has undergone new paint and bar chairs. The staff is extremely nice and attentive. The chef is happy to do any modifications to your order. It is definitely a family place with plenty of parking. I took several pictures to show how nice the interior and exterior is. (See Attached). I also want to mention their in house bakery. The key lime pie is my wife's favorite. Yes, they have cinnamon rolls. This is a must try place!

Yelp
Four star diner experience! If a diner type meal is what you are looking for, then try Mini Gourmet. I rate this in terms if diner. The food quality is at the diner level, slightly above. The service is good. Friendly staff always looking to give me a coffee refill. 80s music was on tap for a audio enjoyment. Friends was playing on silent on words, which lent a quirky late 80s vibe to. It has been years since I ate here. The renovations made it a nice experience. So nice it didn't close. Mini Gourmet has been here for decades. It's is part of the history of San Jose.

Yelp
Came in just before 6pm, middle of the week. Dining area not full, just 1 customer at the bar counter & 3 table customer, we are the 4th table customer so we thought, food will be served in time coz kitchen shouldn't be busy. Not! It was taking almost an hour & server asked if we wanted the dessert first I'm ok with it since I was eyeing on the tiramisu at the moment we stepped in. Food is good, I had the Asian sesame chicken salad. The amount of chicken strip is good & mixture of veggies are good, crisp & fresh. My husband had the Wagyu steak with rice & veggies that he thought was steamed with butter. He liked the steak, cooked to his liking. I would've given 5 stars if we didn't wait an hour for our food. I checked the time stamped on my photos and here it is... you judge. 5:55 PM - walked into the doors 6:55 PM - dessert was served first 7:11 PM - food was served 7:50 PM - out the door We ate faster than our wait time. Aside from the wait time, food is decent & restaurant is clean with a young lady server who is pleasant. We came in because of the inviting sign outside & it's located in the corner street right next to the hospital where we came to visit a sick family.

Yelp
So I've eaten here thrice since the re-opening and twice I've been disappointed. The French dip was OK, but the pasta, and today the Chili Verde was a bit of a let down. Both had been microwaved to the point they were thermonuclear. So hot I had to wait a few minutes before I could start eating. Now I'm sure the food is prepped onsite, but when some meals are just scoop some cold rice, beans, and Chile Verde on a place, then microwave it, the $18 justification seems to be out of place. We're in San Jose, a city known for it's gastronomical delights. Taqueria's about, with Chile Verde simmering all day long, yet this is what they call "Our specialty" on the menu. Any Chile Verde connoisseur knows it's hot from a steam table. The pasta I had on a previous visit was the same way. Just so hot on the inside it nearly burned the roof of my mouth. For $3 more, I can go to one of our locally famous Italian spots and have my pasta freshly made. It's not to say some of their other is made the same. I think Pancakes, eggs, omelets' are made fresh to order along with the salad. Just don't expect the rest of the menu to be freshly made.
google avatar

Huey N.

Yelp
The chicken fried steak is excellent here. The gravy truly makes the dish. If you've ever ordered chicken fried steak and felt underwhelmed, give theirs a try. I would also recommend the french dip. The sandwich and the au jus felt a bit greasy, but you won't really care at 2 am. Easily my favorite late night diner in the area.

Yelp
We're extremely dissatisfied with our recent visit with our experience at Mini Gourmet located on Bascom ave/Moorpark. He brought Overheated cheese Burger that was kept under the light indicates it was returned order from a customer to resale it, And an unwelcoming atmosphere made our experience unpleasant. We were shown to a table, but not seated. We waited 10 minutes for menus. Our daughter's cheeseburger was inedible and A scorching hot plate almost burned my six-year-old daughter and my five year old son. As you can see the picture. Despite three calls to the owner, I received no response, indicating a lack of care for customers. We've reported this to the Health Department and Better Business Bureau.

I went recently for lunch, crazy expensive, the food was alright, Hoever the customer service was great

Yelp
If I could give 0 stars I would. This place has gone down hill over the years. The their grand reopening to their more recent grand re-re-opening. The service is terrible and by the time you get your food it's 40+min later. Funny thing is that the people around us that came later than us got their food sooner. One of the tables had way more people than us. It's ridiculous. The funniest part was when we asked for our food to go. They got it to us so quickly as if our food was ready already but they just didn't want to serve it. Waste of time. Back when they were open before. They served food quickly and efficiently. I'm 1000% never coming back. Sad to see this place in such a state. I advise people to stay away. Atleast the place looks nice now. But it's all glitz and glamor clouding up their poor service. Man. I usto love this place. Update - after eating the Togo order. I'm not feeling so good. Becareful.

Yelp
After 5 ish years of them being closed down The Mini Gourmet reopened this past week. The restaurant is "to the best of my knowledge" still owned and operated by the same owners who took it over some 7 years ago. The last time I was in "pre covid, new owner" they had remolded the inside which was remodeled by the previous owner, just a few years before. "Didn't make any sense to me" the new remodel is super sterile with faux marble tables and steel chairs. " Unlike the super coziness as it was before." But I digress I wanted to give them a second chance. Today I ordered the Montecristo. "$19" comes with french fries and pancake syrup to dip your sandwich in. The fries were cooked well however they were the run of the mill frozen fries 2 stars. The Montecristo sandwich IMO was bland "I wish there was more cinnamon, salt, or something to give it more flavor, the sandwich was again IMO mediocre at best. Unfortunately I can not recommend them.

Yelp
My wife and I were long-time patrons of Mini Gourmet before the pre-covid shutdown due to the fire. We went for the first time in years as it's now re-opened. The overall ambience remains the same, and the service was great, but the food quality really went down. I had the chicken steak and gravy, while my wife had a classic Benedict. My wife really did not enjoy her Benedict and said something was just off about the sauce (but couldn't characterize what), other than she felt strongly against having it again, while my chicken steak / gravy had zero taste. I was at least expecting the steak to taste somewhat like a breakfast sausage, but it tastes more like someone just grinded some meat together and added batter and called it a day. The texture was fine, just the taste of the gravy and steak was completely lacking that even salt couldn't save it. We thought about the lunch we had at one of the Ethiopian restaurants in the area yesterday and felt we got way more joy out of that meal for $10 less (and that's with an included 20% service fee at that place too) compared to the $50 we spent with Mini Gourmet. My wife said that it'd be the last time she'd want to come here, and I'd have to unfortunately agree. I really hope the owner does read the reviews on this page and tries to make adjustments because Mini Gourmet was one of those long time SJ staples and it's sad to see it go this way.

Jose C.

Yelp
Great food, and Debbie was really kind and patient with me. Very clean and organized diner, and I felt very comfortable inside.

Yelp
We do like this place. But this morning (Wed 9/3) we arrived at 7:15 am and they were closed. We phoned at 7:35am but got no answer. They advertise as open 7am - 9pm every day. But I guess not today!

Yelp
You never get a second chance to make a first impression! We recently visited Mini Gourmet. This place is great but needs to work on customer service. We live near the restaurant and walked to grab breakfast and mimosas. Not knowing that they had a liquor license, we brought our own bottle of sparkling wine. Upon entering the restaurant, the lady behind the counter greeted us loudly with, "You can't bring that in here!" It took me a bit by surprise as usually we hear, "Welcome to....". We weren't welcome, not with a bottle! While I understand the requirements of the restaurant, I suggest a little more professionalism. We would have felt more at ease had the lady said, "Welcome to Mini Gourmet, we are happy you came. Unfortunately, due to liquor licensing laws, we are unable to allow the bottle. Could we store it for you or would you be able to leave it somewhere else?" While we didn't feel welcome, it was obvious they were only interested in the bottle, I hope they can work on their customer service skills so they are able to stay in business. Being that we walked, I couldn't put the bottle in our car. Fortunately, I was able to store it right outside the restaurant door.

Yelp
Came here for a late breakfast/lunch around noon on a Monday. A friendly waitress greeted and seated us right away. We quickly received menus and coffee. I had a BLT, and my wife ordered eggs with hashbrowns and sausage. The food was pretty good overall--my BLT could've used a little less lettuce, but the fries were perfectly crisp. My wife enjoyed her meal as well. The bathroom was clean, which is always a plus. Total: $41 before tip. Credit cards accepted

Yelp
It is so nice to see this landmark reopened and well representing its legacy! It's only open for breakfast/lunch at the moment but I hear that dinner and weekend late nights are coming soon! Servers are attentive, the place is sparkling clean and I'll be back soon!

Yelp
This place breaks my heart. They are in a perfect location for employees at SJCC. They renovated their space and now it it is so cute. It is so convenient for businesses in the neighborhood. However, the food is terrible from my experience. My colleague and I both ordered the chicken fried sandwich. Oh my gross. It was grizzly with chunks of fat or something inedible. Not delicious. It is difficult to have a conversation while pulling garbage out of your mouth. There are many items on the menu for such a small place. Maybe if the restaurant could offer fewer items and make what they prepare really good? Or just find a new cook? Even a nice salad with fresh fluffy greens and a tangy vinegret would be nice. But you are taking a chance ordering anything off this menu. I want this restaurant to succeed, but with such quality of food, how can I go there?

Yelp
mixed feelings on whether or not i would go back... the food was good. not great, but good. but the service? yikes!! - I overheard the waitress tell another employee that they didn't serve bloody marys but there's a sign on the table. - she asked the table next to us if they were ready for the check after they'd been waiting for the rest of their food by the time others were pretty much done eating - rudely let us know we were still there 2 minutes after closing. not once otherwise were we told it was close to closing and it used to be 24 hours so maybe that would have been a better route.

Yelp
The worst of the worst! Wait staff and food were horrible, never again! Used to be the spot, now, it's not...

Yelp
Food is great I ordered a Monte Cristo sandwich which is amazing my wife had a delicious patty melt . All the employees made us fill so welcome Debbie was are waiter she's amazing did great catering to us . The restaurant is super clean and nice clean rest room . Overall 10-10.

Yelp
The first thing we noticed was there's a gnat infestation. We killed 7 gnats before we got our food. I think we killed 11 in total and noticed a few still flying around. It was truly stressful because they would fly around our kids and get on our food. The good food: - Waffles, good texture and consistency - Hash browns - Sausages, quite tasty! Our kids favorite part of the meal. - Standard eggs The bad food: - Pancakes were too chewy and it took a lot of effort to cut them. My 2 year old couldn't even eat it. We didn't bother finishing. - Fried chicken was truly AWFUL. White meat and incredibly dry. We couldn't finish it. Service was good, and other than the gnats the place seemed clean, but we couldn't wait to wrap it up and leave. There are so many better diners and brunch places than this.

Yelp
This was our first and last time. Horrible. Food was burnt. We all got stomachache. We don't recommend this place.

Yelp
This place is just what we needed, we went in waiting for our car, getting a new sound system up the street. I hadn't been there in some time before covid. I was so pleasantly surprised by the food. I got a patty melt with fries and my boyfriend got a burger and fries. The sourdough, the burger bun, the sauce was so fresh! Everything tasted good and the service was great. I asked the waitress to give our best to the cook. We will definitely be bringing the family soon!

Yvonne I.

Yelp
Close down please. Food was terrible, not crowded at all yet food wasn't even hot. Salmon Benedict with a huge piece of salmon??? WTH!! Double charged for a meal an proceeded to tell me the total was correct. Didn't even give me the check to see, just came up with the machine and gave a total. For it to be a reopening the seats are all torn. Poor service.. My 1 star is really a 0.

Biswa A.

Yelp
Worst food I have eaten in my life. Three piece of burnt to coal "fried chicken" and a waffle for $25. Whoever made this food is doing serious damage to the business, never coming back. Avoid this place.

Yelp
I'm glad Mini Gourmet is back in business. Lots of great memories here with my team after long hours at the hospital. Food is great and the place still has that cozy atmosphere.

Raymond Y.

Yelp
Went back for the first time since the fire. Same great place it was was before. It feels the same and new at the same time. Our pork chops and sirlion were cooked perfectly. Let's hope the community comes back and keeps this place busy like it was before.

Yelp
The new and improved Mini Gourmet was everything I expected and more! The menu had a lot more ítems, we had a western burger and we'd have to rate it a 10, I had just plan eggs, hash browns and toast. The hash browns were perfect and the amount served was good! We were lucky enough to have Joseph as our waiter, he is very pleasant and extremely attentive! We live down the street so we will be regular customers. We missed the mini gourmet, glad it's back!

Yelp
Nicely renovated and modern on the inside, natural light, and yummy food! The Vietnamese drip coffee was delicious, and so was the chicken fried steak.

Yelp
Owner-chef Florence "Flo" Khuu of Mini Gourmet makes a big come back after closed for 4 years serving Americana comfort food like nothing ever changed! They were closed due to fire. Newly remodeled Mini Gourmet is now open. New floor, new chairs, new tables, new lights, new counters. Everything look spotless. Great breakfast spot before work or family breakfast on weekends. Also a great spot for after club hours because they are open until 4am on Friday & Saturday night. Big food portions, friendly staff.

Yelp
Reopened with same poor service and worse food. They used to give plenty of coffee refills now you have to beg. Should have known better when it was so easy to get a parking space.

Yelp
I'm beyond happy this place reopened. It used to be really good food and great service! I was so sad when it closed! I'm happy to report the food and service is just as good after they reopened. All the food is good, the chef takes pride in everything he's cooking. Waitresses are very kind!

Yelp
First, I totally love this place. I'm so happy they re-opened after the fire. That said, I think there are a few opportunities to improve. Around the perimeter of the dining area, there is a small ledge that juts out. It was jutting into my shoulders. Regarding the food, the biscuit was dry, and the chicken in the chicken waffles was also dry. When these are fixed, I'll increase my review to a 5.

Yelp
I have never had an experience like this before, when I say I had the best service in the world I am not joking Debbie is a queen and is the best waitress in the whole world. She has the most positive energy and is super attentive, she will take care of you no matter how many tables she has. The mini gourmet hired a gem and they should be super grateful they have someone like her representing them. The food also tasted AMAZINGG!! Thank you for an amazing experience Debbie and I hope you have an amazing day.

Yelp
I grew up in the area and have been eating at Mini Gourmet since I was a little kid, usually with family. As a neighborhood landmark, it has always been a huge favorite for all of us. My recent visit was best of all because the entire experience was just stellar! I ordered the California Benedict, always a favorite dish, and I was not disappointed. Daughter had Huevos Rancheros: It was perfect! The service was excellent -- friendly and frequent. The room was spotless with just the right amount of filtered sunshine and fresh air -- not too bright, not too stuffy. I appreciate the homey but chic ambiance. We found all the food absolutely delicious; drinks too! And the prices I thought were very reasonable. I was telling my daughter I am so glad to know that after rediscovering the MG, we now have a much better alternative to Bills for Sunday brunch -- no long lines, lower prices, better food, and quicker service! Can you believe it got even better? When we went to pay, I saw a gorgeous Mother's Day card on the counter and asked how much to buy it? This was the day before Mother's Day. The manager, Flo, came out to chat -- sold it to me for a couple bucks. What a sweet and kind lady: When she heard that my 80-year-old mom had been rear-ended at high speed on the freeway the day before and was recovering at Valley Med, Flo sent me home with a red velvet upcake with cream cheese frosting. Flo, we are so grateful to you! We couldn't be happier that this Santa Clara Valley institution still exists -- you kept the MG alive and flourishing! I'm still gonna bring Mom over for lunch one day soon! (She's recovering just fine.) Furthermore, she refused the cupcake (queasy tummy from the painkillers etc.) but of course I couldn't let it go to waste, and I will testify truthfully here it was THE BEST red velvet cupcake with THE BEST creamcheese frosting -- EVER! (And I have had a few in my time!) THANK YOU FLO!!!
