Mini Kabob and Cheese Store of Beverly Hills Expand to Westlake Village | Eater LA

"The celebrated Armenian kebab restaurant still operates a tiny take-out shop in Glendale and, after expanding to a stall at Westfield Topanga’s Topanga Social food hall in 2023, is partnering with the new Westlake Village concept to reach more Southern California locations and well-heeled suburbs." - Matthew Kang

Google
I love Mini Kabob, especially the original location! I really dislike the Topanga Social and ordering through a tablet, but that isn’t their fault. Everything on my plate was a 10/10

Google
My friends and I stopped by this kabab place that is located in Topanga Social. We really like Kabob and wanted to go to the Glendale location but we settle for this one because it's closer. You should really order your food from your phone, they'll have a QR code at Topanga Social entrance to help speed up the process. We ordered at the tablet where the food place is and it can be slow or there might be a line. I got the Chicken Thighs Kabob Plate with no hummus and my friends all got the Beef Shish Kabob and Chicken Thigh Kabob Combo. They have a smaller menu here than the Glendale location. It took about 20 minutes for our food to be ready for pickup, you'll get a text when your food is ready. I didn't really like the rice or their cucumber salad but the chicken Kabob was seasoned perfectly. You can get beverages here but you'll have to go somewhere else to get ice because the drinks are not cold. You also have to walk around Topanga Social to find a table, it didn't us long to find a table to fit 4 people. The atmosphere at the Social is really like so you should check it out. I didn't finish my food so I had to ask for a to go bag and it's a pretty big bag.

Google
I’ve heard great things about the original location and haven’t had a chance to try it yet, but I was disappointed with the price and portion of the meal. I ordered the chicken kebab and the beef and got 4 small pieces of meat, and the rice was a little undercooked. The meat is tasty and marinated well but such a small portion approximately 5 oz of protein which is more than enough for 1 person but doesn’t match the price. Worst part is the lavash covers the meat as if it’s intentionally done to hide what’s underneath.

K D

Google
Really disappointing experience especially for $25 a plate. My lavash had what looked like spots of mold and I'm not sure why they ask how you want your meat done because I put "medium" and it was served well done.

Google
One of the best option to try at Topanga Social… we ordered Chicken kabab entree.. and it was too good.. kababs were very soft and tasty.. but the wait time was more than what we expected…

Google
Love love love Mini Kabob and so happy they are now here in the Valley! The quantities are always generous and the food is so flavorful. This is by far one of my favorite places in LA and a must try. Favorite is the chicken thigh plate but I love it all. Definitely give them a try, you’ll be hooked!

Anton Göransson

Google
I’ve gotten recommendations for the original location by one of the top kabob chefs in Scandinavia to try Mini Kabob (the original location) and I was massively disappointed by this rendition of a restaurant that is supposed to be the best in LA. The meat was picked up from a metal container and not grilled fresh and everything felt bland and dry. The staff gave me the wrong order too. I hope Mini Kabob does some quality control here because this is not worth $25..

Nathaniel Harvey

Google
One of my favorite places. I’ve been a long time regular at the Glendale location and now happy to have a spot in the valley!

Yelp
This is my favorite eatery in the Topanga Social. For the price you oh get a generous portion. My favorite is the Falafel plate. You get 3 good sized falafel, rice, salad, grilled veggies, wraps, and hummus.
google avatar

Yelp
First time ordering from Mini Kabob. Since this is in the Topanga Social, you'll have to use one of the self check out kiosks to order from multiple restaurants. Decided on Mini Kabob and it had all the "favorites" for a kabob place. For the price, I think it was worth it. It took about 10-13mins for pick up but it was worth it. The meat was perfect and just melted I your mouth. You can take it go or eat in. The place has many tables with Christians walking around asking you to join them for worship. lol

Yelp
Quality and tenderness has significantly increased since I have first had it at the Topanga Social! Chicken thigh super tender now and quality control has gone up! It's probably comparable to its original location now!

Yelp
This is their 2nd location. The original one is in Glendale in a very small probably 300 sq ft facility. I like that location because Armen's parents work there and his father is just a ham. He will come out of the kitchen and will talk to you while you are waiting for your food. This location at Topanga Social is a lot bigger, but I feel the food is not as great and a bit overpriced for what you get. I ordered their beef & chicken shish and it came out to $25. As you can see from the picture I posted, they only give you 3 pieces of each cut. The beef wasn't that flavorful, but was kind of tender. The chicken was the star here. It had good flavor, juicy and tender. I just wished they gave you more for your money. I like that they give you sliced up raw onions. I feel like it paired well with the protein. The hummus was also good. Overall, the food is good, I just feel that it's a bit expensive for what you get. I remember at the Glendale location, for $19, you get a whole lot of food. So I would recommend going to that location over this.

Yelp
Ok, the Topanga Social can be overwhelming with all the dining options but this place is low key excellent and pretty underrated IMHO. Always consistent and delicious. Ordered the chicken and beef kabob combo. Chicken is dark meat (thigh) and you can specify if you want the beef cooked medium or for some reason more well done. It was $25 before tax and tip, but really filling. The garlic sauce is a must. Also enjoy the sides of onions, tomato, and hummus to balance the rice & meat.
google avatar

Will P.

Yelp
This is a solid option at the Topanga Social as the flavor was good with the hummus and garlic sauce. I wish there would have been more chicken for $20 but overall I was satisfied.

Yelp
We visited Topanga Social this past weekend as we've read good things about it online. We wanted to try several places (as this was a long drive for us), and one of the places we wanted to try was Mini Kabob, as their original location is highly regarded. My husband and I shared the beef and chicken kabob plate. Our food took a a long time to come out (so just keep that in mind if your party is ordering from different places). It was good, but not really impressively must drive here even if it's far away good. The chicken was more flavorful than the beef. The hummus was plentiful, but just okay (it did taste homemade). I really liked the rice though, it was fluffy and the texture was just right. Service was basically just handing over the tray of food to us, as we just ordered off the tablet. Ambiance was pretty cool though, much better than your regular food court. Super clean as well, the food hall had friendly staff going around, wiping tables and cleaning up.

Yelp
Topanga Social Edition: Review of Mini Kabob My goal is to try All 27 of the original Topanga Social Eateries and share my experience with you! -------------------------------------------- Mini Kabob (experienced on July 13th 2023) When it comes to Armenian, Persian or Mediterranean cuisine... One, (Actually 3) things that I know for sure are... 1) There will never be a lack of food (huge portions) 2) There will never be a lack of flavor (Spice, Texture) And... 3) By the end of your meal, You WILL be Stuffed!!! (Of course, in a good way). Last week, Mini Kabob @Topanga Social nailed 1,2 and especially 3 which left me smiling ear to ear. I went with their chicken thigh plate which came with 4 perfectly marinated boneless thighs which were spiced beautifully and absolutely moist. Although the chicken was supposed to be the "star" of the show, I was even more impressed by their rice. The rice was so fluffy, so tasty, so beyond just a "side dish" that my fork would usually pass up a bite of chicken just so I could shovel even more rice into my mouth! The rice was like eating a delicious cloud! And let me tell you, I was on Cloud 9!! On top of that, there was hummus, there was onions, there was a fire roasted tomato, there was a fire roasted jalapeño, there was Lavash bread and of course.... There was a side of garlic sauce! Yes, Normally I can't get this type of food into my mouth fast enough, but on this day, I took my time, I ate slow, and I enjoyed every. single. bite! Mini Kabob also serves up a Falafel Plate, a Beef Shish Kabob Plate, & a beef and chicken thigh plate just in case you don't eat any meat at or chicken thigh alone is just not enough! This is Mini Kabob's 2nd location (the original location is operating in Glendale, CA) by the Martirosyan Family (Mom, Dad & Son Trio) who want to share their passion and a small piece of their Armenian culture with you. So bring your own family and come check out this (literal mom 'n pop) kabob shop and enjoy a "home cooked" meal by the Martirosyan family!

Yelp
What a letdown, I heard so many great things about the food at Mini Kebab in Glendale, and I was so excited they opened one at the Topanga Social. Clearly, it's not the same. I ordered the Mix Combo Plate Beef and Chicken at $25. To be clear, it's not worth a damn bit. Portion is so small that it feels and looks like a kids' plate. The quality of the meat was bad. The three tiny beef pieces were dry and chewy. I ordered it medium, and it came out over cooked. The two tiny chicken breasts were also dry. Are you the same Mini Kebab as in Glendale? Where all my friends raved about how good Mini Kebab is. This location at the Topanga Social seems more money hungry than the quality of their food. I really hope the owner or owners do something about it.

Yelp
I have to admit, I'm shocked by the 3.2 star overall rating for Mini Kabob! Perhaps they got off to a slow start at Topanga Social, but based on my visit here this past weekend, they seem to be fully up and running now. I haven't been to their original location, but I've heard they're legendary, so I was very excited to try this place. We ordered the chicken kabob and were pleasantly surprised by the taste and quality. It definitely exceeded expectations. Generous portions, flavorful food, and great service. I highly recommend checking this spot out!

Yelp
The meat was so tender. Unbelievable! The staff was very friendly. The humus was perfect. Definitely worth a trip.

Yelp
Very high yum factor at this surprising find located inside Topanga Social, the eating area of Westfield Mall in Woodland Hills. We had the chicken thighs, which were incredibly tender, juicy and plentiful, resting on a generous bed of rice, a giant serving of hummus, some garlic butter, and a nice blistered tomato. Lavash bread on the side, onions and a charred pepper rounded out this great dish. Wifey, who really is Iranian, was very surprised at the quality - we've tried other "fast food Mediterranean" joints before and wifey says the rice is always abominable. But not this time - it was OK, "for something this quick," she said. Yep, we will surely be back - this is super convenient if you're shopping at the mall!

Yelp
How are there so many positive reviews for this place? Did I come on a wrong day because the food was so not good! We ordered the beef and chicken plate, and the meat was so dry/flavorless. We even asked for the meat to be cooked medium. The beef was especially chewy.. so much that I wasn't able to cut through with knife. I can't imagine I spent more than $25 on this dish. It's so disappointing!
google avatar

Stefanie S.

Yelp
The juiciest perfectly seasoned chicken thigh served atop fragrant rice with a side of creamy hummus. What could be better?!?! Seriously, a perfect lunch and I love the Topanga Social location because I can also have a glass of wine from the bar! ;)
google avatar

Gohar K.

Yelp
Glendale location serves better food in my opinion. The meat was hard to chew and not seasoned right. The sides tasted ok. Prices are high and customer service needs a lot of improvement. Overall an ok place to eat while at Topanga Social.
google avatar

Mia K.

Yelp
The food was decent but not worth it for the price imo. the plate was over $20. The portion is pretty small compared to other kabob places i have been to and the rice and chicken portions were off. they barely gave any meat for the large amount of rice they provided. Service was quick but probably wouldn't come back again
google avatar

Coby C.

Yelp
I have been to the original mini kabob in Glendale and I was very disappointed with the food offered at the Topanga Social. The price of the food was fairly high: $20 for a chicken thigh platter, $20 for a beef platter and $25 for a combo platter (chicken and beef). I was expecting a lot of food for the price of the combo platter, instead I was slapped in the face with three tiny pieces of chicken and three tiny pieces of beef. Compared to the Glendale location, they heavily skimped on the food quantity. I understand they want to profit, but dang did they really try to maximize profits! I assess that the meat offered in the combo platter probably cost around $5 or less to procure. If Glendale customers came here they would say the same thing guaranteed! In regards to the quality, the taste was nice and the food was fresh. Still not as good as Glendale though. Maybe they need the Glendale regulars to come up to the Social and whip the place into proper shape. If this continues, I don't think Mini Kabob will survive in the long run in Topanga. I hope the owner takes the feedback to heart because I love the original mini kabob!

Yelp
Food took about 20 minutes from order time. I got the chicken thigh plate and holy moly was this SOOOOO DELICIOUS. The meat was super tender and cooked to perfection as were the veggies. Sooooooo flavorful. $22 a bit steep but worth it in my opinion. Hummus was also on point. Will definitely be going back.

Hayk B.

Yelp
The yogurt cucumber cost $11 but was old and nasty, portion was small for price, no salad either, just hummus tomato and pepper, could be much better, my stomach hurts from eating the yogurt cucumber
google avatar

Gemma B.

Yelp
Recently had this for the first time 2nd time and loved it. Chicken thigh was perfectly cooked. Hummus and lavash were sooooo delicious!!!

Sarah D.

Yelp
I tried the beef plate, which was pretty dry. The sides are good and make the meat better. It's like restaurant pricing ($25.99+tip) in a mall food court setting, which does not really feel worth it. I wish they had a half portion/price available and compostable containers.
google avatar

Orian Q.

Yelp
I have been going to their original location in Glendale for 4 years and I have been anticipating to try their new location at the Topanga Social, however I was disappointed. This spot is nothing like Glendale, and I truly wish it was. I paid $21 for a chicken combo, the meat was not good quality or maybe it was that it was cooked all the way, or both, the chicken also had so little seasoning it totally needs MORE seasoning. Hummus and rice were ok, nothing special. The jalapeño was not grilled right. And I just think it's so over priced for flavorless food. I could of maybe been a little more satisfied if they had garlic sauce but I was told they were out of it. It was a sad experience. Ambiance was clean and live music was playing.
google avatar

Debbie C.

Yelp
Who knew you could get good really good Mediterranean food in a food court. This is the hidden gem and a must-try if you are in the area. The beef is super tender and the vegetables are just right. As an added bonus, the service is really good.
google avatar

Arash K.

Yelp
It is really bad. Low quality The shish kabab was disgusting. Bad smell and wasn't good at all .
google avatar

Megan M.

Yelp
I got the combo plate with the beef and chicken. It comes with rice and hummus. It was delicious. Food comes out pretty fast. I love hummus and this hummus does not disappoint. The chicken was tender and the beef was cooked nicely (a little over medium but it tasted fine it wasn't dry). I would recommend this place!

Yelp
My best friend lived in Glendale for 10 years and Mini Kabob was always the spot- the family that runs it is so hardworking and wonderful, the sweet dad used to always give me extra candies because he knew I liked them. I moved to the west valley and used to dream of Mini Kabob, so when I heard that they were coming to the new Topanga social I was thrilled. Now, there are certainly some differences from the original, there's no styrofoam (honestly better for the world), the prices are a little higher (I can't even image what rents are at Westfield), and whoever is cooking the rice needs to season just a bit more. That being said, the meats and the hummus are always on point. My kids could eat their hummus and lavish for every meal. I want to address the comments about waiting for food- if you ever ate at the original location you would know that you'd call and the response is always "half hour," because real food takes care and time. You should also take advantage of the Topanga Social app and order it ahead. Mini Kabob is my death row meal, I cannot wait until the chicken breast plate comes to Topanga social! Im soooooo happy MK is in the west valley and I'll still frequent the Glendale location when I'm there too.

Yelp
Again - we had a blast at Topanga social. Live music. When we went they were having a beer contest. Always something going on here. Great place for locals. We drove from mid city to see this place and see a movie. So fun!
google avatar

Michael C.

Yelp
Food was good but bringing down a star just given the pricing. $25 plus tax for this combo is a bit excessive for the amount of protein served.
google avatar

Pierre C.

Yelp
Very good Mediterranean food. I have never been to the Glendale location so no point of reference but this is exactly what you want when you get kebab. Juicy and delicious meat, plenty of rice, great bread and hummus plus a grilled tomato. Slightly pricey but what isn't these days. Would definitely go back.
google avatar

Ryan L.

Yelp
Places are really hit or miss at the Topanga Social. It should have been a red flag for me when the kiosk asked me "Meat Temeratture". That's not a typo from me. That's how Mini Kabob spelled temperature. I asked for medium and I got rock hard ,chewy, well done steak. By far the worst restaurant there. Please don't waste your money.
google avatar

Karlee C.

Yelp
Absolutely recommend the beef kabobs. So so yummy and juicy!! I will definitely be going back. Quality food and great price also!
google avatar

Eric R.

Yelp
The food was fantastic. I got the beef and it was juicy and cooked perfect. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Ro M.

Yelp
I would give this place 2.5/5! Flavor wise I give it a 2.7! It didn't taste bad but not great either! Portion wise I give it a 1.5, me and my bf got the mixed grill, $30 after tax and there was 3 small pieces of steak, and 3 super small pieces of inconsistent chicken thighs that looked like a child had cut them up. When other places offer more bang for their buck, this place misses the mark.
google avatar

Mel C.

Yelp
Don't sleep on this place. I had the chicken thigh plated with hummus, rice and veggies. The chicken was so well seasoned, tender, cooked to perfection. The hummus tasted like it was homemade; perfect amount of seasoning. I love buttery rice for my kabobs. Can't stand when it's just bland basmati. Their rice was sooo buttery and flavorful I wanted to take some home. And I did. I see comparisons to the Glendale place to which I've never been but if you say it's better okay. I only know this place and it's good. I'll definitely go back to try some other items. Also, on the menu they've labeled which items are gluten free which I am. I didn't see that at other places. Let's me know Mini Kabob cares about the customer. It's family owned and operated so show them some support. I'm out!

Alex D.

Yelp
The meat tasted old , was grey and lacked flavor. It was overcooked and was not something I would ever eat again. The service was slow and the cook did not do the food justice. The entire experience and ambiance was lacking and I am disappointed in what I ordered for the price of $25. I would not come back and would tell others to stay away. Maybe they should close up shop until they can get their act together.
google avatar

Audry K.

Yelp
$11 for a $5 yogurt dish? Really? And $20 for chicken thighs? Usually that's for breast! I'm sorry too expensive for a food court

Talel Z.

Yelp
Horrible service , they took forever to prepare food, were super unorganized and confused and rude to people. Never again Oh and the food us below average
google avatar

Alina C.

Yelp
After over 30 minutes, they still didn't have my order, no apologies, no compensation, very unprofessional, looks like no one is in charge, I will never go back here!
google avatar

arum k.

Yelp
This place is consistently so good and the customer service is amazing. They are fast and friendly. I'm so glad to have tried all the places in Topanga Social bc hands down, this is one of my fave places here. Can't go wrong w healthy yummy food.
google avatar

Ivan S.

Yelp
Pales in comparison to the original in Glendale. Very overpriced as well for what you get. Was excited when it first opened as I used to live in Glendale and have been looking for a good kabob place since moving to SFV, but was disappointed. Apart from the obvious differences in food quality, menu options are also very limited compared to the original location. They just opened so maybe they just need time to settle in and figure things out, but for now, won't be returning.
google avatar

Mien D.

Yelp
I'm conflicted because my first two experiences were so good. I had it two days in a row and referred friends to them. The third time I got it was inedible. Chicken thigh was burnt and dry, all you can taste is the bitter char. The chicken was black. I took it back and they replaced it with slightly less burnt but still dry and inedible. I don't mind paying $22/ plate if the quality was consistent. They also have garlic sauce sometimes and not others and only if you ask for it. Anyway, might give it a try again in the future but I just tossed me food after they replaced it with more dry chicken. For the price, I would think twice and maybe check to see who is working. When the manager/ owners are there, the quality it better.
google avatar

Liza A.

Yelp
Super slow service. Theres not a lot of customer yet it took more than 20 mins ? Wow. This socials place is not as efficient.
google avatar

Rod T.

Yelp
Either this is chicken breast or overcooked chicken thigh. The tomato was also barely grilled
google avatar

Andy M.

Yelp
Mini kabob hits all the right spots, flavors are on point. Hummus is a great compliment with the meat when we wrap it in the Lavash and the roasted veggies. My go to.
google avatar

Reds T.

Yelp
Best food tender, tasty Chef India is amazing visited a few times .. always good service and food ..
google avatar

Adrian L.

Yelp
OMG!!!!!!!! You have no idea how excited I am that they're open in this area now!!!!! And open later! I'm not going to ever say that the food is cheap but what I will say is the flavor matches the price as does the quality. You're not getting cheap meats or flavor, you're getting QUALITY! And as for the complaints on time, good food that's NOT precooked and cooked on the spot takes TIME, especially when they're popular and good! So if you want something cheap and fast, but not great in taste or quality go elsewhere. However if you want to taste the fruits of a family ran business that started as a LITERAL mom and pop shop in an unassuming little storefront; then enjoy the food and the experience.
google avatar

Ryan S.

Yelp
Ordered from a few different spots inside Topanga Social. Mini Kabob was the first to come out. It was great. The chicken was perfect! If you like mediterranean food, give this place a go.
google avatar

Jeannie B.

Yelp
Kabobs we're delicious and juicy perfectly cooked. I love me a good Kabob! Definitely recommend trying this place out!
