A New Christmas Market Is Coming to Minneapolis This Year | Eater Twin Cities

"Taking inspiration from traditional European Christmas markets, the Minneapolis Christkindl Market will take place in the new mixed-use North Loop Green development and run for five weekends in November and December (exact dates are available on the market’s website). Food and craft vendor highlights include Bavarian-style brats; Swiss raclette cheese served over potatoes and cornichons; Danish aebleskivers (pancake balls); handmade German spätzle; and cozy-looking Nordic-style socks, and there's a live entertainment lineup as well." - Justine Jones

It seemed more spread out this year so easier to walk around. Lots of fun things to look at and buy.

I love that MPLS does this💖. We all just bundle up and get to experience these super cool places! If you didn't make it this year, not sure how long it lasts, make sure you check it out next year! Really good authentic European food and roasted nuts and drinks. It's so cute and you end up supporting so many businesses, it's amazing😁

Love the cheerful ambiance and great entertainment. The market got me nostalgic and satisfied that very distinctive European Christmas market craving. I recommend the Gluhwein, the hot chai and hot coco to warm you up. When it comes to food, the best has got to be the bratwurst with the special authentic bun and the cheese spatzel, which was incredible. There are also plenty of fun and creative gifts for your Christmas shopping purposes. I definitely recommend this market. I've been there twice and plan on going back 💛

This market is a Twin Cities MUST-VISIT during the holiday season, and it lasts a whole month, so it's always easy to find time to visit and enjoy live entertainment with a bunch of amazing food & drink options (my favorites were the French Raclette cheese and hot chai). It is an amazingly festive environment that is magical for all ages; whether you have kids to entertain, want to shop around for a vast variety of well-made holiday gifts, or if you're simply wanting to immerse yourself in some holiday charm!

Looking for a winter wonderland? Look no further- the north loopers have done it again!!! This market captured not only the charm of a small European market, but also the beauty of the minneapolis north loop. It is beautifully decorated and all of the vendors are very friendly. It’s clear this event took a lot of careful planning and organizing that definetly paid off! I am so excited to see this event grow! #BestMinnesotaHolidayMarket

The Minneapolis Christkindl market in North Loop is the best! Parking is close, there are so many fun booths and great food! We had wonderful hot chocolate with sprinkles and marshmallow wands. Thank you for a wonderful holiday event for the whole family ♥️I wish it ran through January!

Coming from Saint Paul it’s just an easy drive along the Mississippi River passing the mills ruin park , stone arch bridge and then, next to Target field with a few turns to reach the Minneapolis Christkindl Market. The market itself has a very friendly family character where everyone meet to chat at the firepits, watch ongoing games, enjoy delicious food/drinks, make new friends and/ or even find gift ideas for loved ones and friends. You should check it out too! No wonder that event at the North Loop Green attracts so many happy people! B.John

Yelp
This is the second year I have visited this cozy little Christmas market. There are a variety of vendors selling everything from hand knitted mittens and homemade pottery to cinnamon roasted nuts and potato pancakes. There was a great acapella choir singing Christmas music and gas fire pits where you can warm up. The market is much smaller than the European Christmas market in St Paul and can be rather crowded but overall is a fun experience to start off the holiday season.

Yelp
It's one of the newer holiday markets from what I understand. The vibe is a good mix of European and American Urban, with the location being under a road underpass and the floor made of astroturf. Street parking and garage parking options are a short walk away and admission is free. I went on a cold day so the rush was non existent and I could really enjoy this market. I've heard on warmer days, it's a nightmare navigating through the crowds. My friend and I enjoyed the market overall with beautiful neon lights in some places and warm yellow lights overlaying the traditional pop up shop blocks. The live music was lovely and wholesome on a Friday evening - check the calendar for the lineup of events. The holiday mug here is a little simpler than at other markets but is still cute and MUCH more accessible. For example the chai place was offering this mug with chai or hot cocoa (made of cocoa powder not with chocolate) which is a big differentiator from other markets around town. $14 was my chai with mug and the chai was an American style masala hot chai (not authentic for my South Asians but still good). There were two other hot chocolate places. My friend got one from the corner shop closest to the entrance and she loved it. The other hot chocolate place is Suss that had those pink and blue aesthetic hot chocolates for around $7.50 complete with colored sprinkles, an aesthetic straw and sprinkle dipped marshmallow. I didn't try this but it looked fun. The roasted pecans from Dulce Nuss were warm, not too sweet but plenty sweet, and really hit the spot on a warm night. $9 for a generous portion and wonderful owners running the place. We finished up in about an hour and it was a nice family friendly little market. Very small with ample food options and less vendors for shopping but very enjoyable.

Yelp
There's nothing quite like a holiday market to get Minnesotans out of their homes on a chilly Friday night. we cozied up with steaming hot apple cider, devoured the most delightful pretzels, and enjoyed the cheerful melodies of Christmas music. The air was filled with magic and joy--truly a winter wonderland! Highly recommend visiting the north Loop green and this Christmas market. It is open until December 22. There is a ton of parking available nearby on the street, in ramps and in pay lots.

Yelp
Open 5 weekends in November and December. Nov. 22-24, Nov. 29-Dec. 1, Dec. 6-8, Dec. 13-15, Dec. 20-22 HOURS: Fridays: 4 to 9 pm | Saturdays: 11 am to 9 pm | Sundays: 11 am to 7 pm This holiday market was waaayyy better laid out than the one in St. Paul (much less congested). Located under the highway supports next to the North Star tracks and behind the North Loop Green development, there was an open center area where people could stand and listen to live music, a warming tent, and a large seating area with tables on the west side. Family-friendly, dog-friendly, and you can enjoy a number of adult beverages in cute commemorative mugs while you browse the craft stalls and various food vendors. It is easy to get to from downtown, since it is right across from a light rail station. There is a parking ramp, though it was full by the time we got there on Friday, and we ended up just looking for street parking. 4 stars because there could have been more non-food vendors, and some of the paths between stalls were still quite narrow, but overall a good experience.

Yelp
This market was so cute! I loved the variety of food and vendors. I thought everyone was very friendly and I appreciated access to real bathrooms in addition to Porta potties. Parking was easy and it was a great place to spend a little time during the holiday season.

Yelp
This Christkindl market is a fun, open air venue of a variety of different vendors from different countries and cultures. We ate a Currywurst, potato cakes with sour cream, chai, toblerone cookies, and so much more! It was fun seeing all the different things being sold. From alpaca hats to German bratwurst selections to bakery items, it was fun going around to see each stand's selection. Lots of tables were set up around to enjoy your food, along with a live band singing holiday songs!

Yelp
I will give it a two for the sake of the amazing vendors but my friends and I had to leave because I think the astroturfing smelled like dog piss. It was this constant waves of smells of pee. Idk if dogs use it as a place to go to the bathroom when this market isn't happening, but I could not do it and I felt nauseous from the smell. Kind of a bummer for the artists and vendors.

Yelp
Small Christmas market with many options to choose from. Additionally, they do take credit card.
