Where to order out for Thanksgiving in Minneapolis and St. Paul, 2019 | Eater Twin Cities

"What’s that? A whole smoked turkey for $80? Yup, that’s exactly what you can get from the Minnesota BBQ Company. Ranging from eight to 10 pounds and intended to feed between four and six people, the turkey comes with instructions for everything you need to finish up the prep perfectly at home." - Cinnamon Janzer

Take a look at Pig Ate My Pizza’s New Location - Eater Twin Cities

"The new restaurant is part of a massive expansion happening in the Travail universe, the chef collective of which PAMP is a part. The crew just opened Minnesota BBQ Co. in Northeast a matter of weeks ago, is winding down the Travail Homage pop-up in Northeast, and constructing a new two-story with a rooftop deck Travail also in Robbinsdale." - Joy Summers

Inside Minnesota BBQ Co.’s Opening Night in Northeast | Eater Twin Cities

"On Friday at 5 p.m. I watched a line of barbecue fans stretch around the building and down the block as Minnesota BBQ Co. opened its Northeast take-out spot, the newest venture from the Travail collective overseen by barbecue fanatic Kale Thome. What began as a pop-up and Thome’s obsession—announced in fall 2017—now operates from a small stand with custom metalwork and a made‑for‑them smoker; the menu featured brisket, ribs, chicken, mac and cheese, creamed sweet potatoes, aged jalapeño vinegar sauce, and more. From the moment doors opened until the last piece was sold, fans waited patiently; inventory was wiped out at 7:16 p.m., just over two hours after opening. The second night had more meat and took a bit longer to sell out, and by Sunday they seemed to find the right supply‑and‑demand groove as the line finally died down. For now it’s take-out only and open Wednesday through Sunday, with plans to add electronic ordering and delivery to nearby Fair State Cooperative Brewing’s taproom." - Joy Summers

Minnesota BBQ Co. from Travail Opens in Northeast Friday May 3 - Eater Twin Cities

"The tiny, but mighty Minnesota Barbecue Co. led by Kale Thome and the Travail chef collective, finally opens Friday May 3rd in Northeast with take-out smoked meats and delivery to nearby Fair State Brewing. The highly anticipated project first came to light in the fall of 2017 when it was expected to open in the spring of 2018." - Joy Summers

The guys were very friendly, we talked about the establishment for a little bit. I was able to look inside the large smoker which was massive and amazing then I had a brisket sandwich and a cream soda. Everything was fantastic but to be honest I don't care for the pickles.😁 there's a bar and bar stools to sit inside for half a dozen people and two picnic tables outside for seasonal seating. Definitely a carry-out joint.

Google
well, my search is officially over for top notch bbq here in minnesota! i slapped my knee, pinched my mama, and let out a hoot this brisket was so good! the onions on top of the sandwich were a perfect touch. fries were crispy and the spices were perfect. prices are very reasonable. can’t wait to go back and try everything else!

When I heard this place was closing its doors, I knew I had to try it once while I had the chance. Chicken legs, fries, brisket, ribs and a pastrami sandwich. Great smoky flavor in everything. Best pastrami sandwich I have ever had. The brisket was so tender it practically melted in my mouth. The BBQ sauce was amazing. My order also came with an orange color sauce. I have no idea what that sauce was but it was delicious. My only regret is not trying this place sooner. Few can do BBQ this well!

Definitely one of, if not the best barbeque joints in the twin cities. Great brisket is hard to find with social distancing pushing all restaurants to take out only. Now our go to for good barbeque!

We had brisket, ribs, mac and cheese, brussel sprouts and baked beans. Everything ranged from very good to excellent except for mac and cheese. I was very impressed with the brisket and my wife enjoyed the ribs. Sprouts and beans were also superb. Mac and cheese was a little bland for me. Price and portion was good. Definitely worth a visit.

11/10/2019 update: This is my last visit to this place. 32 dollars for 1.5 lb of brisket. We went today during lunch time and turned out they have limited menu and sells brisket on a 6oz incremental vs. per lb. Original review: This place have solid brisket. So far it’s the best on our list to fix Texas bbq craves. Everything else is reasonably priced. They don’t have a parking lot but street spots are not hard to find. They don’t sell beer either so make sure come prepared. There are several types of sauces and we’re all really tasty! Highly recommend this place for some quality brisket.

This place is one of, if not the best BBQ joints in the Twin Cities. We like to order on site and then bring it over to Fair State Brewing a block away to pair it with a beer. We were really disappointed to hear that they were closing so we're coming here once a week until their last day.
