Minnesota State Fair Foods 2020, at the Fair | Eater Twin Cities

"As part of the Fair's first-ever Food Parade, I saw Turkey To Go listed among the 16 food vendors that will be serving attendees during the 1.5-mile drive-thru on Aug. 20-23, 27-30 and Sept. 3-7; each car gets a goodie bag with a menu and guests are urged to choose items ahead to keep the parade moving, with food purchases additional to the $20-per-car ticket." - Alex Lodner

Necessary Minnesota State Fair Foods | Eater Twin Cities

"Turkey To Go delivers mounds of steaming, roasted and chopped turkey piled onto a squishy bun—an indulgent fair favorite (you can get a whole turkey leg in theory, but it’s impractical while waiting on a ride)." - Joy Summers

My son wanted a turkey leg at the fair so I googled where to get the best one and Google told me here. GOOGLE LIED. We have been eating smoked turkey legs at Ren Fest for a lifetime (always delicious) and have never had one from the fair. Words cannot explain how not giant, dry, bland, tough, overly crispy yet also slimy and all around disgusting this $18 abomination was. My son was filled with guilt and sadness when, soon after trying his best to suffer through this, he asked if he could throw it away. After taking a bite, I said of course. We go to the state fair every year and we had never tried this before due to hearing mixed reviews over the years. When we went to the stall, it was deserted - and I can see why. This is without a doubt and by a landslide the grossest thing we have ever tried at the fair, and honestly one of the worst things I’ve ever tried in general anywhere. And no, the bbq sauce didn’t help!!! Save your money and your taste buds and avoid at all costs!!!!! Did I mention this thing was $18?!?!?!! People work way too hard for way too little to be serving them inedible things like this. Whether a turkey leg is smoked or baked, for $18 it should be edible.

For my first time trying Turkey to Go, it was amazing. Turkey can be dry but these guys know what they are doing! It’s very juicy, and the bun makes the sandwich come together. The overall experience from the booth to the first bite is amazing! I even took some home to Pennsylvania with me and let my kids try it. They loved it too. Thank you for making my first experience at the State fair memorable! I’ll be back for sure

I can't stop raving about the experience! The turkey sandwiches were stacked high with tender, juicy shredded REAL turkey, perfectly seasoned and packed with flavor. As for the turkey legs, they were absolutely phenomenal—cooked to perfection, with the meat practically falling off the bone. Each bite was smoky, succulent, and utterly satisfying. What made the experience even better was the excellent service. The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, making us feel like we were valued guests rather than just another face in the crowd. They were quick to serve, despite the hustle and bustle of the fair, and always had a smile on their faces. The overall atmosphere at the fair was electric, with the delicious aroma of turkey wafting through the air, adding to the festive vibe. Whether you're a fan of classic turkey sandwiches or craving a hearty turkey leg, this is a must-visit spot at the fair. The food, the service, and the overall experience were nothing short of fantastic!

For years I would get two giant turkey sandwiches from here. I'd get one right when I walked in and one right before I left. They were massive, juicy, full of flavor, and there were all kinds of toppings and sauces you could add on off to the side. It was a two handed ordeal to eat and you'd still have enough turkey left over for another sandwich. I haven't been to the fair since 2018 and finally made it back last night (2025). I raved about the sandwich yesterday to my wife, my coworkers, my friends, anyone that wanted or didn't want to listen. Finally, I would get my favorite fair food again. What I got handed after I got my first sandwich in 7 years was not giant, it was not juicy, and it was not anything like I remembered. I could hold the sandwich with one hand without issue or any turkey spilling out the side. The bun was small, the portion of turkey was small, but the price sure wasn't small. There were two options for BBQ sauce and a little shaker for Cajun sprinkle and that was it. There used to be mayo, hot sauce, ketchup, BBQ, Mustard, etc. All the BBQ sauce in the world couldn't have made the turkey juicy. Overpriced, over cooked, and overpromised by the name. Time to find a new favorite fair food. :(

Turkey To Go is one of my favorite stops at the fair! The food is delicious, and the team working there is just the best; always so friendly, helpful, and welcoming, they feel like family. I also love how intentional they are about collaborating with local businesses to bring the best turkey and offerings to the great MN get together. Highly recommend!

If you’re hitting the fair and you DON’T stop at Turkey to Go, you’re doing it wrong. Hands down one of the juiciest, most flavorful turkey sandwiches you’ll ever have in your life. Forget the dry holiday bird you’re used to—this turkey is slow roasted, fall-apart tender, and packed with smoky flavor that hits different.

Used to be my favorite at the fair and I told everybody I know about it. Now? It's a small one sized sandwich that is $15.50. It's not at all worth it anymore and that's a wrap for me unless they go back to what it used to be, which they won't, so, plenty of other food at the fair, but this is a real bummer. Very sad to see a once great stand diminish in quality and quantity like this. The sandwich you now get from them is now worth no more then $9, they are charging almost twice that, don't waste your money!
