Minnewater Park

Minnewater Park surrounds the Minnewater Lake or the Lake of Love. It is a romantic spot and ideal for romance, family time or picnic. One can walk or take a horse carriage rideto the Bruges Market Square or Belfry from Minnewater Park. It has postcard perfect scenic beauty and curated gardens and lush green lawns. Great views during Fall or Autums season.

Very beautiful park. Morning is little crowded with tourists. You can spend peaceful evening here if you are on a trip. There are cafes nearby lake where you can relax with duck watching nearby the lake

Do all love stories end tragically? I was charmed by our guide's story about the Lake of Love in Bruges. Shall I tell you the story? You probably know some version of it from wherever you hail from. Star crossed lovers...tragic death...undying love. And poor Minne ends up under the water and this becomes the Lake of Love. Our guide also pointed out the Bridge of Love too.

What a picturesque park situated on the outskirts of town. The sleepy willows, "Lake of Love", squawking swans, and steepled church belonging to an active monastery are the perfect romantic backdrop for such a peaceful area. During the holidays, the Minnewater is host to an ice-skating rink with connected "winter bar" and small eatery. It is located right near the train station, so when you are planning your walking path to the city center, do make it your first and last stop during your day trip to Brugge.

Maybe it's because we visited on a gloomy Monday, or because I've been spoiled by Central Park, but I thought this park was just 'meh.' This park boasts the Lac de l'Amour, but has a confusing layout for anyone trying to navigate to the spots pictured when you look up the park on Google. Pretty, yes. Worth driving to if you're not in the area? No. Not in my opinion. Definitely wasn't the highlight of our visit to Brugge.

Worth daytrip from Brussels. $30 round trip on train. The park is romantic and worth a stroll by yourself or with a partner. Lush greens along walking path and benches for sitting. Ends with a grand view of the city complete with church steeples and blooming spring cherry blossoms. Restaurants along lake and hotel as well. Great way to begin your day at Brugges (there's much more to see behind the lake and into the city itself!)

If you need a break from the hustle and bustle of Bruges then take a slow stroll to Minnewater. A nice break from the noise by the lake. An opportunity to sit down, relax and contemplate where to eat that evening. Joking apart, a very relaxing, quite part of Bruges and well worth a visit.
