LA's Best Dishes: The Infatuation's favorite meals of the week.

"Guess what, everyone? I finally did it! No, not replace the driver’s license that’s been missing for eight months now, something even better - I got to try Nünchi. After months of pining over every single photo creator Lexie Park posts to her Instagram - including glowing jelly cakes, hyper-real corn desserts, and edible vaporwave dreamscapes - I finally managed to secure an order for an apple yuzu cheesecake this past week. Did I wait a super-long time to eat it because it was so stunning? Yes. Was it creamy and slightly-tart? And did it taste exactly like freshly picked apples? Absolutely x 2. Will I be ordering from her again? The answer just might surprise you (literally, duh). - Kat Hong, Staff Writer" - the infatuation los angeles crew

"Ord & Broadway is a tiny fusion cafe that specializes mostly in casual Filipino food that works great for a quick lunch. Think lechon kawali, lumpia, as well as Korean-leaning dishes like bulgogi tacos and gochujang hot wings. They’re also open daily at 9am, making it a great breakfast option as well. "Classic Cake, $110 Yes, $110 might seem like a lot for a dessert, but at Nunchi, cakes aren’t just cakes - they’re works of art. Just think of this as investing in a Rothko or Jackson Pollock… except it probably won’t last as long." - kat hong

LA's Best Pop-Ups Of 2020

"How does one begin to describe Nünchi? Is it a Korean pop-up? LA’s most stylish dessert destination? The ultimate ’80s vaporwave dreamscape? How about all of the above? At Nünchi, the brainchild of former fashion designer Lexie Park, the lines between art and food aren’t just blurred - they cease to exist. Mesmerizing pomegranate cheesecakes glitter via Instagram. Kimbap stuffed with purple rice sit symmetrically in a circle, as if plucked out of a Wes Anderson film. And in her latest collaboration - with Eagle Park brick-and-mortar Chifa - Park has devised her most brilliant, mimetic creation yet: A cob-shaped dessert made with light purple almond jelly, chicha morada syrup, and real bits of corn. - KH" - brant cox, kat hong, brett keating, james montgomery

Google
Cool temperature inside to take a break from Chinatown heat. Friendly service inside, and I got the mango smoothie at 75% sweetness and light ice. It was incredible and had bits of real mango! Friend got the brown sugar tea with extra boba, loved it. Prices are reasonable, with limited seating. Would definitely come back!

Google
We were craving some boba and found this place near the new Mama Lu’s Restaurant! Got their mango pamelo drink with tiny tapioca balls and it was delicious! Almost as good as Phoenix Dessert but the mango or sago was sour at the end. Pricing is kinda high ($7 for one drink). Non-dairy creamer is available though so my stomach was not destroyed :0) It’s cute inside and has a clean bathroom. Their cakes look really good!

Google
What a delightful bakery and coffee shop! I stumbled upon this gem looking around Chinatown for some boba. Their drinks are on the steeper side but they are so good!! Even the cups are cute. I saved my cup after the boba cause the quality of it is so well made that I have to use it again. For 2 milk tea bobas it was $11. They specialize in custom cakes and had a few on display that were mind blowing. The Hello Kitty goth cake was next level. You can find baked treats, custards, mini cakes, and snow ice here ☺️🍧 There’s some seating inside and along the window a few tables and chairs. It’s a delightful spot to look out and gaze at busy Chinatown. Parking is available along the streets in metered spots. Everyone working there was super nice and the service was fast despite the line.

Google
Wayyy awesome and cute new dessert spot! Their mango smoothie with brown sugar boba is an absolute must. It was so tasty and refreshing. The oreo cake was good but the strawberry cake roll was so soft and magical tasting with fresh strawberries on top and in the center. I will be back to try other desserts!

Google
Serious, best orange green tea. It wasn’t too overpowered with sugar and it just hit the spot. If you are trying to just have a great boba without all that line hype that other places have, try this. It’s a hidden gem.

Ally mills

Google
LOVE THIS PLACE!! Service is fast and staff are super friendly. Drinks are real brewed tea that isn’t too sweet, not powder mix. Seating is simple and inviting, music isn’t too loud. Everything about this place is perfect!

Google
Stopped by here to try out their cake. Small shop with a cozy interior. Friendly staff. Felt adventurous and got a slice of the durian crepe. Liked the fruit layers but the cake layers were a bit soggy and the cream had barely any flavor. Surprisingly expensive. Reminds me of Lady M crepe cakes but pricier and not as good, would probably come back and try the bubble tea though.

Amador Rivera

Google
Had the Tiramisu, Crepe Chocolate Cake and Orea Cake. The tiramisu was hard and dense, the crepe chocolate cake had an odd flavor. If you are looking for a Lady M alternative then this is definitely not it. The icing on the oreo cookie cake tasted like pure butter. Very disappointed and very rare for a place to strikeout on all items.

Yelp
Top tier dessert drinks served. They also have food but didn't order that this time. Staff was super friendly and service was quick and accommodating. Inside has a couple of tables for seating and also a bathroom for paying customers Must try location and I will be coming back!

Yelp
Came here when I was in the area and it's nothing to write home about. It's a typical tea house, allows adjustments, has pretty standard toppings. Service is friendly. What stands out to me is the food selection, they have pastries but on the side are some braised savory dishes. I didn't get them but definitely not what I expected to see!

Yelp
Yesterday, when shopping in the Chinatown district, my wife took us to this Minon Cake since the kids wanted boba drinks. This delightful boba shop specializes on custom cakes and serves more than just drinks. We placed our order for the Minon Boba Milk Tea, Thai Tea with Crystal Boba, Ice Matcha Latte, Honey Lemon Green Tea with Crystal Boba, Mango Smoothie with Brown Sugar Boba and Mango Green Tea. We even got the Salted Oreo Cream Cake. The owner is incredibly kind and accommodating, and he creates very tasty cakes and drinks. Kids love this Minon Cake for boba drinks, but they also want to order the customized cake for their birthdays. When you're in the neighborhood, be sure to swing by Minon Cake and purchase some delicious cakes and drinks.

Yelp
I always pass by this place, finally went in today and got a mango smoothie. It's so light and refreshing, not too sweet, with bits of pomelo sago. Only $6 what a nice treat. Even my lovebird Mango loves it :-D :-D

Yelp
A very small dessert shop in Chinatown that my friends wanted to try out. We ordered a strawberry snow ice, matcha snow ice and a brown sugar boba for one of my friends. Both snow ice flavors were really good, refreshing and it looked small but was enough to share among 4 people. The strawberry one was refreshing and had strawberries, popping by boba, strawberry syrup thin Oreo and a mini waffle. The matcha one had red bean, thin Oreo and mini waffles. I also noticed they have really cute cake designs and I would definitely look into buying one here. Would come again if I was in Chinatown.

Yelp
went here before work last week to get some boba, and I tried the black sugar fresh mik tea. it was pretty good, but I think it needed a little more flavor in my opinion. service was good, the girl got my order out pretty quickly, and there's a few tables/chairs inside to sit down and relax at. maybe I'll come back to try a different kind of boba!
google avatar

Shirley M.

Yelp
I came here for the matcha snow ice and the matcha flavor was good. I saw there were red bean and little waffle in the picture of the snow ice bowl. In reality, the red bean was buried in the snow ice and I got a half piece of Oreo instead of a little waffle. On the window it said the place is a warm cafe and it was literally a warm cafe. There was no air conditioning and it was really hot on April afternoon.
google avatar

Robert C.

Yelp
Came here for the matcha red bean snow ice. It had a nice matcha flavor. The red beans were underneath. It did not come with any waffles even though the picture had it. It also came with half an oreo. Why not a full oreo though... It was still tasty and very soft.

Yelp
LA Chinatown has never had a decent and good boba/tea spot and I think this is finally a good start! Such a cute and convenient spot in Chinatown for good milk teas and teas! I think it's family owned and the family is so nice. Very polite and sweet. I got a very warm and wholesome vibe! They also have a stamp card visit here too. Okay weird topic... but let's start with the cup and design function lol Going to so many tea spots nowadays I def look for this. This place might not look all "aesthetic bs cute" BUT they spent the money for their cup caps. 1. It's a sturdy cap with 2 or 1 designated hole for your to pop the straw in 2. The smoothie cap has cute little panda or bear ears on it I dislike those plastic seals where when you pop the straw in and you make a whole ass mess lol -_- #NotCool ha Rose Milk Tea with Bubble strawberry boba is what I got. It was delish! My bf got their strawberry smoothie which had a very Nice Ice Crème taste to it!!! I wish I got more of a rose hint to my tea but it's fine. The vibe of the owners was nice so I wasn't even bothered. They also make very decorative cakes here too for birthdays and anniversaries! Def check them out if you are local ^_^ They also have their own take on Korean shaved ice (snow ice crème) too! I didn't try it due to being in a rush but it looked very refreshing for a hot sunny day!

Yelp
We randomly saw this place and was attracted by the cute graphics outside. I orderd the Minon milk tea with boba, while my friend ordered the milk green tea with boba. We asked for half the sweetness. Both drinks tasted great and the boba was chewy and soft. The staff was very nice and it added to the welcoming feeling. I recommend you give them a try.

Yelp
I was dining nearby on a rainy day and I had to buy a small cake to celebrate my future husband's birthday; BTS Jin. I do this every year just to celebrate his special day even if he doesnt know my existence. Then I came across Minon Cake and I thought it was exactly what I was looking for. Photos on Yelp was promising and price seemed reasonable but mostly, it was only a couple minutes away from where I was. I drove and street parked right in front. Out of many choices, I decided to get the Strawberry Matcha and Salted Oreo Cream Cake. Price was reasonable; $9.99 and $6.59 respectively. I didnt get any drinks because I was on the run to my next destination but there were other customers in the store getting drinks before and after me. Their cakes are good but not great. Yes, it is true that I do not like overly sweet desserts but these two cakes I tried were not even close to that. They had like a very slight hint of sweetness. I want to say that it wasnt sweet at all. I am unsure if this is what they intended but both cakes were that way. Cream tasted a little heavy to my personal taste but it was good. I dont know if I want to eat unsweetened cakes but I know, for some of you, this may be pleasing. Cakes were good in both presentation and portion. Going in depth taste wise, it was creamy, moist and spongy but just not on the sweeter side. Thats all. Minon cake also offers custom cakes and I think they need at least 3 business days ahead of time to get the cakes ready for you! I may come back again to try the drinks and maybe other desserts I didnt get to! Friendly and quick service with not too spacious inside but it is very cute and has warm ambiance that most us girls would enjoy.

Yelp
We always have room for dessert, right? You've come to the right place if you want some quality boba and cakes! My friend and I were on our way to another boba shop in Chinatown, but stumbled upon Minon Cake and decided to give it a shot. I ordered the Minon Milk Tea, 0% sugar with light ice and my friend ordered their Strawberry Bobo cup. The milk tea was your standard milk tea, but I really liked the texture of the freshly tasting boba here. My friend's Strawberry Bobo cup was also good, the mousse wasn't overly sweet and the sponge cake was moist. It's a small cafe with only 4-5 tables, but we were able to grab a table only after waiting outside for a few minutes.

Yelp
Minon is a must if you're ever in Chinatown. I always visit whenever I'm in the area and each time was always pleasant. A Lunar New Year parade was held during my visit this evening and it was extremely busier than usual everywhere I went. I didn't notice until I got into the car but there was a sticker left on one of the orange slices in the fruit tea I ordered. However, it wasn't too much of a big deal for me and the tea was delicious as always (I recommend the fruit tea if you're looking for something refreshing and fruity)! I imagine Minon can get busy often which almost forces the employees to work under some pressure without even realizing it so I hope they all know they can take their time and hope no one ever rushes their craft.. I assume the sticker was over-looked so that they could get the drink out asap or maybe under a little stress from the amount of traffic. Anyways, all in all 110% recommend and hope everyone takes care!

Yelp
Ambiance: the small cafe shop is located near the entrance of old Chinatown Service: very friendly and patient with questions, provided useful suggestion Food: standard drink menu and specialty cakes Bobo Cup Desserts - **** freshly made in house, mango, bobo, and cream on top of soft sponge cake, not overly sweet, recommend Price: decent portion and reasonable prices, about $10 per order for drinks and desserts
google avatar

Yelp
Came here a while ago. My friends and I were craving some boba in Chinatown and walked upon this shop. The people were very kind and provided great suggestions to help us order. It's a small place with a few tables, enough for roughly 10-15 people. The boba milk teas we got were very good, and the boba was chewy. Also, it wasn't too sweet, which was nice. The Minion Durian Cake was super delicious. You can taste the durian, and it wasn't too overpowering or too sweet. If like cakes that aren't too sweet, I would highly recommend checking this place out. And if I were to visit LA's Chinatown again, I would 100% come back again for their durian cake.
google avatar

Yelp
Cute little bakery shop in the middle of Chinatown. Even the door sign is adorable. I'm in love, what can I say? There are plenty of little goodies to keep a girl going. Everyone here is friendly and although communication is a bit of a barrier, I still manage to leave happy and full of sweets!
google avatar

Sanny C.

Yelp
If you like unsweetened cake, this is the place for you. I m like so amazed. I tasted like 0% of sweetness in the durian cake. I am sure it had some sugar it in lol it was good tho. I am planning to order a cake here for my friend's bd. Hope the quality stay the same. I will request for the cake to be a bit sweeter tho since my friend like it sweet. I also got a kumquat drink which was also good. It wasn't too sweet nor too sour. Good for a hot day. Will be back.
google avatar

Yelp
Cake was delicious and very friendly service . The place was clean. My boyfriend loved the cake it wasn't very sweet which was amazing since he is diabetic.

Yelp
Just had the Matcha Slushee and it was really good. Great spot to hang out at! Thank you!
google avatar

Yelp
My go to place when in Chinatown or leaving DTLA. Yes, they have cakes and iced drinks but my favorite is the coffee. Try a latte or cappuccino with their delicious pastries! Super friendly and excellent customer service!
google avatar

Trina D.

Yelp
I was looking for a milk tea spot and walked into this one on the way back to my car off of Spring Street. This store is super cute. I noticed the cakes on display. I ordered the sea salt cream jasmine green tea ($5.25). My drink was made in a jiffy and we were on our way. Service was great and my jasmine green tea was refreshing.
google avatar

Yelp
Cute place. Very nice and attentive staff. Fabulous boba drinks! I ordered the iced passionfruit lemon green tea and added lychee jelly instead of boba. So yummy and refreshing on a hot day. They have a few tables to chillax. Next time I'll order a cake, probably strawberry shortcake or matcha cake with chocolate icing. So happy it's near my new apt. I can come here all the time! I wish they had mango slushie boba, but nobody is perfect. Love this place!
google avatar

Tara K.

Yelp
Adorable bakery in Chinatown serving up drinks and baked goods! I ordered a fruit tea and the berry cutest petite strawberry cake then biked over to the nearby LA State Historic Park for a cute picnic with a view. There are many drink and cake options available for you to choose from. The drink and cake are not too sweet but sweet enough as my Asian mom would say. Very refreshing, light snack during the day if you need a little pick me up. It looks like they also make custom cakes in case you need any special orders! All in all, it's a cute place for a date or a friendly catch-up!
google avatar

Sarah C.

Yelp
Custom cakes at its best The communication was great given the short time that I had to order a cake
google avatar

Yelp
My wife and I regularly come to Minon Cake for ice teas. On our recent visit we tried the snow ice (ice cream) and we loved everything about it - the texture, the flavors, and the fact that it holds up from melting soon. The service here is always courteous and friendly. We enjoy our interactions with the staff and appreciate the fact that they go out of there way to explain what certain things are. We also enjoy sitting down sometimes and taking a break while we drink our drinks (or eat our snow ice). Theres adequate seating and ac for hot days. Overall, both my wife and I love coming to Minion Cake.
google avatar

Anh N.

Yelp
Amazing job with my daughter's custom bday cake. I sent them a picture I found on Pinterest and asked them to make the base purple instead of pink. They totally delivered!! I also like cakes that are less sweet, so their level of sweetness is perfect for me. If you have a vision, trust Minon cake to execute.
google avatar

Vicky R.

Yelp
This is the best boba and dessert place in the area! They have so many options for drinks and cake slices. They even offer customize birthday cake as well. I personally like their Matcha and oreo cake. They also have shaved ice if you're looking for something chill and fruity at the same time. The service is excellent and has few seatings. You can't miss this place when you're in LA!
google avatar

Erica Y.

Yelp
If you want a refreshing treat, the snow ice is a go-to for a hot summer day! I usually get the mango pomelo sago drink so when I saw they had mango snow ice, I had to get it because their mango pomelo sago is chef's kiss. The mango snow ice was amazing! The snow ice was a milky mango goodness. It comes with many toppings which complimented the mango snow ice amazingly such as fresh mangos, Oreos, and waffle cookies! Service was 10/10. The workers were very sweet and made sure to explain what goes into their snow ice. It is just an amazing experience because they are very welcoming and friendly. Overall, Minon cake is a hidden gem in Chinatown which shouldn't stay hidden. Their drinks, cakes, and snow ice are definitely a hit!
google avatar

Marc N.

Yelp
Sorry, maybe it's because I was expecting something different or it was a red flag that this was a cake shop but most people got boba instead, but the place was not good. The cakes here are not the ones you are expecting at a regular bakery, rather they are those Chinese cream cakes. Don't get me wrong, they're fine if that's what you are looking for: A flavor and texture similar to those Chinese fruit sponge cakes. Asked the person in front what their favorite flavor was and it was the salted Oreo. I'm usually a fan of anything oreo or cookies and cream, but this was nowhere near hitting the mark. Sorry for the bad review again, but it's for my own future reference :(
google avatar

Stephen S.

Yelp
Their drinks and to die for. This little hidden gem in the heart of China town is amazing. The shave ice is good but their stands out. It's so flavorful and leave a great after taste in the mouth. This place is a must try, you will not regret it.

Erika D.

Yelp
Minon is absolutely worth it! The only downside I can think of is the parking situation, but that's common in this area. It's street parking, or finding a lot somewhere and walking. The service is great! The staff are always really cheerful and happy and sweet. The drinks are so good! They are flavorful, not just sugary sweet. My mother ordered a thai tea, and I ordered a matcha latte. You can really taste the tea flavors. And they are delicious, worth every penny. The cakes here are so beautifully decorated. You won't be disappointed!
google avatar

Paige M.

Yelp
Such a nice, clean and cute space. Owners are super nice and friendly. I got the strawberry iced tea (can't remember the actual name) recommended by the owner. It tastes super refreshing! Perfect for a hot summer. I also bought a chocolate layer cake, the pork song cake and a jar of cookie. Nice presentation. Looks fresh and delicate. My partner ate the chocolate layer cake, perfect portion of sweetness.
google avatar

Danielle E.

Yelp
Wow this place is amazing! Ordered a custom cake for my god daughters 5th birthday and it was picturesque! Everyone kept asking where it was from. 10/10 experience

Yelp
I recommend coming here after lunch. New and very chill location! They have Wi-Fi if requested. Definitely a nice place to order cute custom cakes at Chinatown! There is in door seating and a nice place to hangout while you enjoy your dessert. The dessert menu consist of cake, boba, and fruit drinks. Salted Oreo Cream was surprisingly good!! Sponge like cake, not dry, evenly layered, the salt is there, and it's not overly sweet. 8/10! Watermelon Bobo! Basically Green Tea with watermelon flavor and bits. Comes with clear crystal (Agar) white boba. Drink is very balanced, GT flavor is there, watermelon flavor is there, and is not overly sweet. 50% sweet is perfect. Ice is not super chunky, feels like crushed ice. 9/10! Would visit here again to try the rest of the menu!! Staff is friendly and very welcoming. I look forward to ordering a custom cake someday.... Update: Minon Fruit Tea! Literally a fruit tea! Definitely recommend for first timers and a great refresher. I recommend to lower the sugar level to 30-50%. Not an overly sweet drink. Green Tea based. Passion fruit bits, strawberry bits, watermelon, lime, and orange. Mango Pamelo Sago! New addition to the menu and its great!! Basically mango green milk tea with mango fruit bits and sago topping. 50% level is still too sweet, I recommend lower. Snacks! Almond Crips Chip is worth trying! Their own custom Almond like chips. Not too sweet and great to munch on.
google avatar

Sharon L.

Yelp
BTS themed cake for the 50th birthday of my sister! Everyone loved it! So happy with the result. Jun was very helpful in giving me ideas on the design of the cake and the flavor to choose. I had 3 designs with photos that were combined into this 1 beautiful heart-shaped cake. They were able to follow my instructions. Since this is close to where I live, I was able to go back to the store a few times to taste the cake flavors and drop off the BTS toppers. Super loved it! I highly recommend them!
google avatar

Pon S.

Yelp
The service was very fast and kind. I got the lemon green tea and it was very refreshing. I just finished crying so this was a great pick me up. Plus they have stamp cards available!
google avatar

Marie-Reine V.

Yelp
Service is so great! Made arrangements for a catering order, and the process was very easy. Everything was on time and delicious.
google avatar

Mel B.

Yelp
Super cute cafe, good service, and delicious drinks!! The boba was interestingly small but had good texture and taste. The salted oreo cream cake was spongy and light which went good with the sugary drinks. I definitely recommend this place to anybody!
google avatar

Connie S.

Yelp
Got the milk tea with boba. The boba was not that good. Different size boba balls. Check in to get 10% off.
google avatar

Aimy N.

Yelp
One of the best drinks I've ever bought. I got the mango pomelo sago. Not too sweet. Their desserts looked good.
google avatar

Susana T.

Yelp
Not bad at all. I was pretty skeptical at first bec there's one one person working but the rate of production is fast and quality is not bad at all.
google avatar

Arecia S.

Yelp
Milk tea is really good here. Not In Chinatown often, but when I am I make sure to take one Togo. Cakes look really cute too, but I have yet to try anything else.

Rosario M.

Yelp
First time at Minon and it was such a good experience. We got the pineapple bobo and the strawberry lemonade tea. Both were refreshing and perfect for the summer day! We also got a slice of the chocolate crepe and it was delicious. Staff was incredibly friendly. Absolutely recommend.
google avatar

G H.

Yelp
Came around lunch time on a Sun and there wasn't any more regular cake slices. Tried the matcha crepe cake and it was extremely disappointing. Cost about $11 yet much fewer layers of crepe than other bakeries. The cake was pretty much tasteless and slightly bitter. I don't enjoy overly sweet desserts, but this literally didn't have any sweetness. Maybe their other items are better but don't recommend the crepe cakes at all.
google avatar

Mary Moon H.

Yelp
So far I've only had their boba but it's delicious. The Rose Milk Tea with boba is my go to but their salted caramel coffee boba milk tea comes in a close second. I can't wait to try their crepe layer cake!
google avatar

Brittany B.

Yelp
My cake was absolutely beautiful and exactly like the photo that I shared with the owners. But the taste of the cake was very disappointing and I wasnt informed that the bakery doesn't use any sugar in their cakes until I complained. I was even told they "forgot" to tell me and was only offered a 20% discount on a future order. Unfortunately, I had to throw majority of the cake away because my guests were very unhappy with the taste. A bit embarrassing for sure!
google avatar

Tam P.

Yelp
Their Boba is too good and everyone is kind there! The place is small but aesthetically pleasing and cute :)

Nick C.

Yelp
10s across the board. Delicious. Amazing. The flavor is so good. Their service was amazing and they're so nice here. If you are looking for a good boba spot this is it.
