"This stretch of Cretan coastline, heading north out of the town of Agios Nikolaos all the way up to Elounda, is home to more than just a few hotels... and while Minos Beach Art Hotel isn’t the biggest, the flashiest, or the most expensive of them, it still manages to stand out. It’s long been a low-key favorite for high-profile guests who love its sense of seclusion; though not hard to reach, it’s set on its own little peninsula and feels as private as can be." - Le Guide MICHELIN

We stayed in Superior Waterfront Bungalow for 6 nights with our baby. In short it was a disappointing holiday as for €900 a night we were expecting to have more than average hospitality from the hotel and staff. We arrived at night to the hotel and we were not properly informed about the hotel or not given an orientation, not even the next day. So we were asking directions to the staff all the time. The room was spacious and well decorated. Having the sea in front of the room was great. However the distance of the rooms from everything is a bit too much especially with a baby. It’s not easy to access to the main beach or the restaurants with a pushchair because of the stairs. Also it’s not easy to find a sun bed in the main beach and there is no staff to help or assist you. People leave their towels to reserve the sun beds. Plenty of wine selection but food taste is average. Lots of restaurants nearby to have lunch and dinner instead of hotel restaurants. Overall, for €900 a night, you can find much better hotels than Minos.

This gorgeous hotel proved a wonderful place to stay for some Autumn sunshine. It’s styled like a village along a slight hill from the main building to the sea. All about are pretty gardens dotted with artwork and sculptures. Quite a maze and fun to explore. The situation is private and tranquil yet within walking distance of the city and we found the hotel stylish and sophisticated. We loved it.||Many of the lovely bungalows and suites are built right on the waterfront with a wide walkway around the seafront with jetties for sunbathing and swimming. Our superior garden view bungalow, bathroom and terrace was spotlessly clean and well-equipped. For us the minimalist room styling totally fitted the relaxed boho/arty vibe of the whole hotel. Five star housekeeping service!||We had breakfast and dinner in the Bacchus restaurant and they were absolutely excellent. Lots of flavoursome traditional dishes with plenty of choice - all elegantly presented and buffet kept very tidy. The waiting staff throughout the hotel were really attentive, friendly and considerate. Bars were great with exciting Cretan wine selection.||A beautiful large pool with lots of sunbeds/beanbags. Two small beach areas and excellent sea swimming options with lovely clear water and a blue flag. We liked the jetties dotted here and there with ladders for quieter sunbathing options as there were quite a lot of young children on the site. Low key and appropriate entertainment on a couple of evenings - we enjoyed Loopia very much. Enjoyable yoga sessions too - though disappointingly indoors. We also used the complimentary blue bikes for local trips.

My husband stayed at the Minos Beach 55 years ago. It has now expanded but remains one of the best and most restful places that we have been to. We had a room in the main building with a lovely view from our terrace over the hotel grounds and out to sea. The setting is magical because it is in its own land being on a promontory with a kilometre of sea frontage. You can swim from the paved areas on the sea or in the hotel pool. The food was good, largely Greek or Cretan cuisine with plenty of variety. We tasted some excellent Cretan wines. Staff were charming and very helpful. The fine dining at the Bouillabaisse restaurant was a slight disappointment although the setting and service were good. Although busy, touristy Agios Nikoleos is nearby the sense of seclusion at the hotel and its atmosphere make it a very special place to stay.

An Unforgettable Honeymoon Experience I’m not even sure where to begin or how to express just how incredible our stay at Minos Beach Art Hotel was. My husband and I spent three nights here for our honeymoon, and we were so sad to leave—we only wish we could have stayed longer. The hotel is absolutely stunning, managing to be both intimate and romantic at the same time. Our room was charming and beautifully designed, and the beach was wonderful—a serene, relaxing retreat. The layout of the beach area, with only a few spots available in each location, made it feel private and peaceful, allowing us to truly unwind in comfort. The food at all the restaurants was absolutely delicious, leaving us craving more after every meal. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, and the service was outstanding. My husband and I can’t wait to return and share this experience with our family and friends. However, we were a bit disappointed with the spa. While the staff was friendly, welcoming, and made sure we received VIP treatment, the massage itself was mediocre—especially considering the high price tag. We expected something exceptional to match the rest of the hotel experience. Despite this minor letdown, our time at Minos Beach Art Hotel was nothing short of amazing, and we can’t wait to come back.

It was our 2nd time at the Minos Beach Art Hotel. We love this place! It’s like a big beautiful garden on the seafront with modern bungalows and villas of different sizes. The weather in this last week of September was just incredible and the water was still warm. The whole staff is really nice, the food is great and the Greek wines are amazing. We’ll be back next September for sure.

We loved this hotel!! The property is so beautiful and perfectly located - just a 20-min walk to town so easy to explore restaurants and bars for dinner, but when you’re on the hotel property itself, it seems like you’re miles away from civilisation. Love the access to the private beach everywhere. There are so many sun loungers (in addition to the private ones outside the rooms!) that it was never an issue finding somewhere. All the staff were so friendly and the breakfast buffet has a really wide selection - one of the best hotel breakfast spreads we’ve ever seen! No complaints about food or service at all (though perhaps the beach menu could’ve been a bit more varied). We stayed in an annex waterfront bungalow, and true to some of the other reviews, you do have to walk past another property to get there and it is right next to a public beach. However, we really valued being able to step directly into the water direct from the room (it is direct water access!) and the private sun loungers outside the room, on the beach, were amazing. The decor of the room is a bit basic but there’s so much to do on the property, you don’t spend much time in your room anyways. It’s only a 5-min walk back to the main building / reception in any case. All in all, we truly loved our 3-night stay here and would’ve happily stayed longer. Would highly recommend and hope to be back one day!

This hotel was uniquely beautiful and in a great location. We were able to walk to see other surrounding areas which were so fun . The view from our room was fantastic and swimming on a private beach was spectacular. It was tranquil and service was exceptional. Food was absolutely amazing. We ate at the hotel several nights . The breakfast buffet is above and beyond what you would expect. Highly recommend staying here to see a special part of Crete .

We spent over a week at Minos Beach in August 2024 and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The breathtaking views, easy access to the crystal-clear water, and the serene atmosphere were highlights. We swam daily and highly recommend the nearby water sports and diving center. We rented a boat from them a couple of times to explore the island, which was an unforgettable experience. Snorkeling around Minos Beach was fantastic, and we saw a variety of colorful fish. The hotel's thoughtful creation of a reef right next to the property, complete with underwater art installations, was a unique and enjoyable feature. On my birthday, the hotel staff surprised me with a cake and a cheerful rendition of "Happy Birthday." We've traveled extensively and celebrated special occasions at many hotels, but Minos Beach was exceptional in remembering and acknowledging our special day. We're already looking forward to returning next summer. Thank you for an unforgettable experience!
