I have had my fair share of tikka masala and biryani. To date, their version is one of the richest in flavor profile. The vegetable pakora is filling by itself. As for service, it is superb as our server was very attentive. He brought us sauces without us asking and our water was always full. The bathroom is all the way inside the kitchen. As you walk, the chefs in the back were so courteous. I recommend paying a visit for some great indian food in the area.

Google
Cute, yummy, and cozy! Mint Masala is one of my regular go-to restaurants in the area. The different curries are creamy and delicious, and they can adjust the level of spiciness to your needs. Their vegetable samosas are great and their lentil soup is perfect for a winter day. They have a vegetarian section and other options that can be made vegetarian. It’s a small spot, so I recommend checking in before heading there!

I don't know who the host was, but he was AMAZING. He hooked us up with some complimentary dishes and the food was very good too. When I come back to Manhattan, I'm definitely coming back.

Google
I had the Lamb Bara Kabab and I would really recommend it. It’s was super good. The staff is really friendly. One of the staff members, James, even helped me take pictures of the food which was super sweet. Overall 5/5 experience

Google
Our Indian family friends recommended this place and commented Mint Masala dishes were closed for what they had back home. We are so glad that we got to have lunch together there and enjoyed a wonderful with friends and delicious food. All the dishes were amazing: chicken tikka masala (red sauce), chicken tikka (no sauce), fish masala, garlic naan, and chicken vandaloo.

Google
This place has the best food and you get so much with the lunch specials. I had the chicken kadai today (in photo - the server was getting my naan at that moment so you can see I got even more food than what is already pictured.) I always feel pleasantly full after eating here.

We had an incredible experience at Mint Masala, and a huge part of that was thanks to James, hands down the best server we’ve ever had. From the moment we were seated, James made us feel genuinely welcome and well taken care of. His attention to detail, warm personality, and impeccable timing made the entire evening seamless and enjoyable. James anticipated our needs before we even had to ask, refilling drinks, offering helpful recommendations, and checking in just the right amount to make sure everything was perfect without ever being intrusive. It’s rare to come across someone so dedicated to providing exceptional service, and James absolutely delivered. The food at Mint Masala was delicious, but it was James who elevated our experience from a great dinner to a truly memorable one. We’ll definitely be coming back, and we’ll be asking for James by name. Thank you for making our night so special!

Google
From the beginning the experience was amazing. My brother and I were there for the first time and the food was incredible! We had the Chicken 65 which had the perfect balance of spice, crunch and flavor. The Chicken Tikka Masala was some of the best we’ve had. The Malai Chicken Tikka was cooked to perfection. So tender and juicy and the green chili paste was full of flavor. We also tried the Chicken Zafrani. Boasting with spices and flavors. Super creamy gravy. The garlic Naan bread was delicious! To end it, we had a perfect sized rice pudding! 5 out of 5 for me! Can’t wait to go back!

Yelp
Last minute pick while on busy MacDougal St., near West 4th- Washington Sq subway stop. Small place, around 6-8 tables, mostly seats 2 each. Calm atmosphere. Service was great. Had papadum - 2 crispy lentil wafers with tamarind (sweet) and mint-cucumber (a bit spicy) chutneys. And tandoori mix platter for 2: lamb and chicken pieces and kababs, with sides of rice, dal and naan. All delicious. Got a complimentary serving of rice pudding with shaved almonds and raisins.

Yelp
I visited on a whim while walking down the street looking for a restaurant that accepted card. It was the start of lunch time so this location was fairly empty at 1130am. The server was not very clear when explaining the items on the menu but eventually we ended up with Chicken Zafrani and some naan. The meal it self was delicious and the bread was so yummy and made by scratch. The reason for the 2 stars was the cleanliness of the restaurant itself. After our meal, we asked to use the restroom to freshen up and that's when we quickly realized how unsafe and unsanitary this place really is. in order to use the restroom, you must go through the narrow kitchen which is a wall of active flames (stove) and then you'd go up makeshift stairs into the bathroom which is filled with roaches and unclean... very gross. will not be coming back.

Yelp
I've been coming here for over a year and it's been a great hole in the wall. Today was a completely different story. There seemed to be a huge amount of stress when I entered. The lady owner asked me to pay upfront so I did (unusual). I ordered aloo paratha. They normally cut it up into 8 slices and pack the yogurt (goes with the aloo paratha), napkins etc. When my food came out, it wasn't cut, no yogurt, no napkins ... so I asked for it. More attitude from the lady. When I opened the paratha there was aloo on only one side of the paratha. This is mind blowing, never been treated this way by my own people. Disgusting. Also my chai didn't have sugar after I requested it when preparing . "You can put the sugar in yourself" she said. Wow! And finally, here's a pic of my falling apart, uncut, lopsided aloo paratha featuring receipt. Ps. Wishing half a star was an option.

Yelp
Excellent Indian foods. We really loved the breads, chicken tandoori and masala sauce. Excellent service, and a cozy setting. Well priced and delicious !

Yelp
Very good little Indian spot. The food is excellent. The people are very nice. I have been a few times now and every time its great.

Yelp
The food and service was amazing. James and the chef were extremely kind. They gave us free food and had a wonderful conversation. If you are on mcdougal street, the food is cheap and DEFINITELY stop by!

Yelp
This Indian restaurant in Greenwich Village is reliably good with very reasonable prices. The space is very small, I saw maybe 5 tables, but I called ahead and the staff was very accommodating in holding a table for my party. We ordered the chaat, Bombay fish curry, chicken tikka masala, and chana saag, along with some naan and mango lassi. All the curries came with generous sides of rice. The food was delicious all around, and it all came out to $100 with tip automatically included which was pretty good value. The service was also very warm and attentive throughout. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
As a visitor from Las Vegas Food was impeccable and wonderful. Waited for us 10 min after they closed because we were running late on the E train.

Yelp
Service attentive. Appetizers on point (we tried samosa chat) bread was fresh and substantial. Paneer tikka masala was a disappointment. Campbell soup made the entire gravy and the paneer kind a looked forlorn and sad. The rich full flavors that you anticipate when you think tikka masala were absent. Ambiance has potential.

Yelp
My friend and I came here because we were very hungry and we couldn't decide what to get. We both enjoy Indian food so we decided to give this place a shot. I ordered Veggie Fasal, we got Biryani rice, ginger cauliflower, and some other cashew cream and veggie dish. I asked my waitress about my dish bc it was my first time ever trying it. I asked if it had sauce and she said yes. We also ordered Mulligitawny soup. After ordering we realized we ordered too much and hadn't consulted each other on our food choices to share. I tried to cancel the soup, I was denied. No worries the soup was actually good. Very warming. The ginger cauliflower actually had a very familiar taste, it was decent. I would order again. When we got to my dish, the Fasal, that's where it gets interesting. I asked if my dish had sauce bc I like saucy dishes. Turns out it was like grilled veggies with a spicy yogurt coating. Definitely not a sauce and coudnt be confused for sauce. I think our server was so focused on getting us to get the a dish, she embellished so very important details. The Fasal wasn't bad, it just want what I wanted and also seemed more of a side than a main dish. It was literally just a small portion of grilled veggies. My friend wasn't a fan of her dish the flavor was okay just small portion size and again more like an appetizer than a main. The Biryani was a miss. Definitely wasn't $16 worth in terms or taste, flavor or freshness. Hard pass on that. I would could not see myself ordering here in the future.

Yelp
Quiet Tuesday night, excellent service and some of the best East Indian food we have ever had. The Saag sauce was exceptional!

Pasqual Paco T.

Yelp
We ordered two lunch specials on the weekend. They were very good. They didn't ask us about spice levels which was good since neither of them were spicy. The subbing room is a small but nice enough and the service was great. No public restroom and there is a small step to get in. I would come back.

Tracey E.

Yelp
These people are wonderful! They served us the most delicious Indian food I have ever had in spite of our arrival a few minutes after the kitchen closed AND they found my wallet and returned it completely intact wirh cash and cards. I will be a forever customer.

Yelp
Walking in, and looking at how small the space was, I didn't know what to expect. But we really enjoyed the food. Everything was delicious.

Yelp
My friend and I were really craving Indian food and we were hoping to try a restaurant participating in restaurant week and luckily found Mint Masala. We got there around 6 on a weekday after work and it was fairly quiet with two other tables with customers. We chose our appetizers, entres and desserts and our server was quick to bring out our food. (Also FYI this place is BYOB.) My friend got the Chicken Tikka Masala and I got the Lamb Roganjosh - they both hit the spot for us. There was so much food we ended up packing them up to go and my lamb still tasted great the next day for lunch. I wish I knew about this place sooner and I'll definitely be back again!

Yelp
The food is excellent here! The Chana Saag is amazing, as well as all meals I have gotten here. I would definitely recommend coming here!

Yelp
This has been my "go to" place for lunch and dinner for the past ten years. The people who work there are accommodating, civilized, and polite. I can recommend this establishment to anyone.

Yelp
Love the name of this Indian restaurant in the West Village! I came here with a friend for dinner on a Friday night and even though it's a small place, we were seated immediately. Inside, it is cool and comfortable. I ordered a mango lassi (one of my favorite drinks!) and lamb korma. The mango lassi came in a lovely rounded square shaped glass. It was a lovely bright orange color and quite thick, just the way I like it. The drink was refreshing and sweet. The lamb korma came in a metal bowl and had sliced almonds sprinkled on top. There was plenty of delicious tasting sauce, which had strong flavors of cashew and saffron. The sauce was beautifully smooth. There were plenty of pieces of lamb, which was incredibly tender, juicy and soaked up the sauce really well. This also came with white rice which complemented the dish perfectly. My friend ordered some naan bread, which was served warm and was thin, slightly crispy with butter on top. Very yummy! There was no bathroom to be seen, but we were allowed to use one in the back. However to get to it, we had to walk through the kitchen which was kind of awkward. The service was great. Our waiter was very nice and on top of it. I do think the pricing is a little high, but to be expected given the neighborhood. I would return to share the tandoori sampler which comes with all different types of meat and naan!

Yelp
Chickpea Masala, basmati rice, and the veggie fritters are great! Good for a quick meal or to chat with family and friends. Plenty of starters and main courses. Very well priced $$, customer service is very professional, upbeat music, ambiance is relaxing just for you to enjoy the food and be social! If you ever on MacDougal Street stop in and give-'em a try

Yelp
I'm so glad I stopped by ! My friend and I ended up getting the dosa and chicken masala curry . The Dosa was fantastic, the potatoes had so much flavor , and it had a nice crisp. The chicken Masala was good, had a strong tomato base, which was interesting. The garlic naan was so good! The flavors and the crisp really made me feel like I was back in my native country. We also ended up getting this naan bread with lamb filling. Can't wait to come back here!

Yelp
The photos of the dosa on yelp for this spot look really good and so I had pretty high expectations. I came here with a friend and we split both ours dosas. I ordered the famous masala dosa and this cheese dosa ( I forgot the name). The cheese dosa, seen in my pic was huge. It's always nice to have hefty portions and they put a good amount of potatoes in portions. I do wish it had a bit more flavor, maybe it was the cheese, but it felt a bit salty. I've had masala dosa from many other spots and it was a bit bland, not that spicy either which I wish it was. My biggest disappointment was that the sambar was not that warm. Whenever I have ordered dosa from other places, the sambar is super hot and I can tell it's fresh. This wasn't the case on a Monday night. Overall - I was pleased with the portion of the dosas (they were huge) and the price was cheap. But I wish the food had more of a kick and sambar was warm.. PS - ordered two masala chais. Way better then other spots as it wasn't watery at all. But could have been warmer.

Yelp
Mint Masala was recommended by a friend who lives in Greenwich Village and I was super glad about the recommendation because it was amazing especially since it was hard finding a halal restaurant around there in the past. In keeping up with the restaurants name Mint Masala, there is a 'mint' garnished in every dish. The restaurant is small and narrow but sits people comfortably. It can get busy during lunch and dinner hours but we were lucky to find seats as soon as we walked in (dinner). The service was on point; the waiter stopped by to make sure everything was good. The food was equally great and on point. I was a bit skeptical at first given my past experience with Indian food but this spot surprised me. It definitely exceeded my expectations. Price was reasonable given the portion of the food. I will definitely return, this time with my family to enjoy the savory, delicious food of Mint Masala!

Yelp
Got their vegetable samosas and they did not disappoint! The mashed potatoes inside were warm and full of spice and I absolutely love the fluffy exterior that reminds me of puff pastry. They come with two types of sauces (green and red) and basically, I was so intrigued by the green sauce that I basically drizzled it on my samosa every bite until there was none left (wink wink nudge nudge the sauce is good!). Someone I know recommended this place because it is close to NYU and wow, I am delighted because they have vegan options so another place to take your friends with any diet/allergy restriction :) YESSIR

Yelp
What an awesome find to stumble on while wandering around Greenwich! The food tasted very fresh and Suman was a great host! I highly recommended this place!

Yelp
Probably closer to 3.5 stars. Mint Masala provided an absolutely normal experience. Nothing exciting to report on or exceptionally good in my first experience. The tikka masala was bordering on bland, and the vindaloo was somewhere between good and okay. That said, the staff are friendly, the prices are reasonable, and the food was ready quickly. There is probably better Indian food in the area, but if you find yourself here, you'll probably leave satisfied.
google avatar

Jen C.

Yelp
Cozy dine in spot with large portions and reasonable prices! The chicken tikka masala was SO good and flavorful. The chicken was very tender and juicy. We ordered rice on the side. The shrimp briyani was huge and we had to take leftovers home! And of course the meal isn't complete without garlic naan and mango lassi
google avatar

Monica L.

Yelp
Tasty good indian food for delivery. It arrived perfectly packed and food warm. I would say portions are the biggest I ever get by delivery. We love veggie kurma and most of the times, there is always lot of sauce but lack of veggies. The kurma here is what it should be, with veggies!! We ordered naan, papadams, veggie kurma and Aloo gobhee adrak masala. Both entrees came with a huge portion of rice (too much for us) Will definitely order more and enjoy at home!

Yelp
Best Indian food in downtown manhattan! Such great service & nice people who work there. Amazing vegan & vegetarian options too.
google avatar

Quinn G.

Yelp
Hoping to change my review the next time I am in, but the Tikka Masala was pretty ok. The Vindaloo however was pretty good. Which is why I feel they certainly deserve another chance. Also this is the second time in as many restaurants that I have had bland Tikka Masala. Maybe this the staff telling me I need to branch out.
google avatar

Yelp
Finally satisfied my dosa craving at this cozy little Indian restaurant in Greenwich village . The dosa tasty and not oily, the Sambhar could've been a little more spicy. The Chana and palak paneer reminded me of home. The best dish was the cheddar cheese kulcha- soft and melt in your mouth . Overall a great restaurant and easy on the pocket.

Yelp
My friend and I came to Mint Masala around 2:30pm on a Saturday. We came across it walking down Macdougal looking for someplace to eat without a crazy line. The shop is more of a take-out spot but there is seating for about 4-5 small parties. My friend ordered the vegetarian lunch special ($9.95) and I got the poultry lunch special ($10.95). We also added naan to the lunch special for $1.50. The lunch special comes with a curry of the day, veggie side of the day, and rice. It's a pretty good deal! I believe my friend's curry was the palak paneer and mine was chicken tikka masala. The side was a chickpea curry that was delicious! I wish I just had the side as my full lunch! I'm normally a big fan of the spinach curries, but my friend's tasted like baby food. I wish it was more textured, less watery, and had stronger flavors. The sauce of the chicken tikka masala was so off-putting to me. It tasted more like tomato sauce and did not blend well at all with the chicken and rice. I wish they had used the chickpea sauce for the chicken. With the exception of a few charred end pieces, the naan was a generous portion and tasted good. The workers here are friendly and welcoming. Service is what you would expect for more of a take-out place. Overall, I think the lunch specials here are a fantastic deal but I would need to come back to find entrees that taste better.

Yelp
This has now become my go-to Indian food delivery place, specially during the week. It's a lot of food for relatively low $. I have enjoyed the dal tadka, mint roti, malai kofta and butter chicken. Highly recommended for delivery.

Yelp
Mint is now my new favorite Indian restaurant in the West Village. Everything tasted fresh, and I loved that everything we ordered had a "kick" to it. Saw the samosa chaat on a nearby table when we were perusing the menu, so we ordered it. One of our friends thought it was too spicy for her,but my husband and I really loved it. My friend wanted to try the onion and tomato uttapam, and I generally love uttapam, but this one wouldn't be my favorite. Billed as sort of an Indian pancake, the texture was more like a flattish omelet. It tasted good, but not great, I thought. My tandoori vegetable entree was excellent! Nice level of heat, good variety and quantity of veggies, and nothing mushy. My husband really liked his chana masala, something he often orders in an Indian restaurant, so he had what to compare it to! Our friends shared a good chicken tikka and some kind of bread that they liked. Our entrees came with rice, so I didn't bother tasting the bread. All in all, a good little place with very good food and service.

Laura S.

Yelp
First time trying a dosa! This is a great place to do that, as they have a lot of options for it and it's fairly priced. We also got one of the tandoori chicken options and one of the lamb curries with garlic naan. Everything hit the spot for a craving of Indian food, but I wouldn't say I was blown away by it.

Poonam S.

Yelp
Best and awesome Indian food , the best is they modify the food as per our request...the service was mind blowing , very friendly and attractive place to catchup, small place and peaceful to visit.

Yelp
Updated review: The Aloo Palak Tikki's amazing. I'd buy a bunch and freeze them, they're that good and flavorful. It would be great if these and the samosas were baked or air fried

Yelp
Best Indian food I have ever eaten! The decor, the service, the range of flavors, the presentation, the hospitality, MM has it all! We SO enjoyed ourselves and thank the team for their gracious hospitality. We ate there on Jan. 3 (yeah, I'm a little behind on my review-writing!) and immensely enjoyed ourselves. Our gracious host (name?) was more than accommodating suggesting different dishes for us. Chef prepared the food beautifully, while I don't have pics to share, it was delivered with great care and pride. They seem to have a great on-line/delivery/take-out as there were people coming in constantly to pick-up a to-go meal. However, if you have the time, please consider eating in as they have a great atmosphere with what seemed to be no more than a 30-person dining area. How cozy! If I lived even remotely close, I would be there at least once/week, the food is THAT good. It's a not miss restaurant. Their prices were more than reasonable and they had a nice selection of Indian beers. Thank you Team Mint Masala, you may not remember us, but we remember you! :--) Appreciatively, Patrick Chicago, IL
google avatar

Thomas M.

Yelp
I've only gotten the rolls here, but those prices are the best in the area - cheaper than Masala Times (but also smaller), and cheaper than Kati Roll Company with comparable portions. The owner was extremely friendly
google avatar

Art C.

Yelp
Quintessential cheap eats when you, like my friend and dinner companion, need to satisfy your weekly urge for Indian food. In terms of food, the Chicken Kadai, Dal Makhni, and Chana Masala were pretty much as good as it gets. I also really enjoyed the samosas... There were also several tasty items on the tandoori platter, but I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that there was some seriously denatured chicken hiding among the otherwise good food. Great find in Greenwich Village...

Staci H.

Yelp
This little restaurant is a gem! The location is great- so close to NYU and great shopping. The service was phenomenal and the food was delicious! We took a small group there to surprise a friend for her birthday and they treated us so well. They even played happy birthday through the speaker system for her. The ambiance was fun and casual. We will be back soon for sure!

Yelp
My dining experience with Mint Masala (formerly Mirch Masala) is limited to its catering, so I cannot comment on the actual storefront itself. However, the food that was catered (curry, tikka masala, lemon/basmati rice, korma, etc) was very good and definitely hit the spot. We ordered for 45-50 people, and had A LOT of leftovers because portions were generous. This isn't "watered-down" or "americanized" indian food which I personally liked, but some co-workers complained that it was too spicy. Would definitely like to stop by next time I'm in the neighborhood and in the mood for indian.

Yelp
Yelp alert: DOSA HEAVEN! This place is fantastic!!! I'm so happy with my experience eating here. First of all, our server was really sweet and provided excellent service and care. The taj mahal was really great, got the Indian beer going through our veins early on and prepared us for a good meal. My friend does not eat spicy so he got the hot sauce at the side. Our favorite dish was the paneer platter!!! Must get it here. The cheese was just so nice and chewy. I loved it. Gotta come back again. Love how they are open til midnight. Wish there was just a little more room in the restaurant. This may be my new go to dosa spot.

Yelp
We got the lunch special. Eggplant curry and chicken masala . The chicken had a bit of a charres flavor underneath the strong tomato taste. Each lunch special came with chick peas and spinach curry . Food was prepared very quickly. The (vegetarian) eggplant curry is really really good. There is soo much good food on this street. There was a mango lassi on the house. Woooo! The garlic naan bread is $1.50 to add to the lunch special. So so so so light and delicious. The actual plates are really simple and nice. The waiter is really friendly, respectful, and attentive. The portions are really generous. But the fact that they played Jon Bellion and Arctic Monkeys is greaaaat. Fast forward, I come back a year later with my boyfriend and his entire family because of how great i remember this place being...definitely felt like my first experience here was better. The wait staff aren't as helpful this time. Someone from my group tried to order food from the lunch menu and the waitress kept saying that that menu stopped at 5pm rather than giving a suggestion for similar menu items on other pages. Suggesting an alternative would have been more helpful than just saying that it was unavailable. This time around, the restaurant was also very warm and did not cool down until after we got our food. By then I was already very embarassed that I had brought them here since ordering food was very rough. Ultimately, everyone liked the food. But the wait staff needs more training for sure.

Yelp
Nice lunch specials, good Indian comfort food. Dining is cozy and service is friendly and efficient.

Yelp
Really good first experience at Mint Masala. The place is really casual with only 5 tables inside. We ordered the stuffed dosa (really good), the lamb stuffed naan (really good) and the lamb biryani (also really good). Reasonably priced and really enjoyed our time at Mint Masala, will probably return

Yelp
I was sooo not in the mood to eat indian food but my butter chicken aficianado friend dragged me here. The restaurant was crowded when I walked in and I smiled inside knowing that we won't get a seat but since we were only two the waitress pointed us ahead of the line of a waiting group and my smile turned into a groan - so much for a chance of meatballs and spaghetti instead of butter chicken on my plate :/ The first thing I noticed was that the staff was very quick and attentive. They filled our glasses with water and asked us about our drink order. We ordered the mango lassi and told them that we were ready to order (since we know Indian food menus like the back of our hands). We ordered the butter chicken and reshami kabob along with plain and garlic naan. Our server was quick to point out to us that he will send out one naan and will refill our basket with hot and piping naans once the basket finish because he did not want our naans to get cold (gold star for the thoughtful gesture). I barely took a few bites because I was'nt really hungry but the food was pretty good and flavorful. The rest of the food was packed up to serve as breakfast for the next day but ended up being dinner for a homeless man who struck up a conversation with us. All's well that ends well.

Yelp
I keep coming back... I keep finding myself coming back here every time in the area. Love their Dosas, love their Tikka Masala, love their metal drinking cups. Been here many times and never had a bad experience. I recommend.

Yelp
We ordered dinner last evening from Mint Masala and liked it a lot. I ordered lamb vindaloo and my partner ordered Bombay fish masala. The vindaloo warmed my cockles and every other nook and cranny. I ordered extra spicy and found it just that and extremely flavorful. My partner loved the Bombay fish masala, which I ordered mildly spiced. It lived up to its promise with some friendly fire and intense flavor but not the searing heat of a madras or vindaloo. The portion of the mango chutney I ordered was twice the size of others I have ordered. Mango chutney is a nice way to cool down between bites of vindaloo. The only disappointment was that there were no condiments accompanying the food. Like those great red onions and sauces that some other places send.
