Minzu Sushi

Grateful they took our order for delivery close to their closing time. Quick and delicious rolls. Maki weren't overstuffed w rice. The rolls were reasonably priced but not very long either. We ordered an extra just in case and that was the right amount. V good!

Excellent sushi for a great price! Stopped in to get sushi to go it was quick, fresh, and well packed! Everything tasted fantastic, highly recommend the Salem roll, caterpillar roll, and of course, the crab Rangoons!

Reasons you should visit minzu sushi 1. Excellent staff - The people there are very warm and welcoming, which makes eating there much more pleasant. The chef seems truly passionate about his art and will sometimes even offer recommendations if you aren't sure what to get. 2. Authentic environment - The place may be smaller than you'd expect, but that's what makes it realistic. Original sushi restaurants in Japan usually have a few seats in their restaurant. This is to ensure that only the freshest food is brought to the customer at a reasonable speed. 3. Flavorful food - The reason you've been waiting for. The food here tastes great. You can tell that the food is freshly made when you taste it. I recommend the Pink Lady and the fried gyoza.

TERRIBLE SERVICE they refuse to deliver to my house after I made an online order for delivery. They lied saying they didn’t receive my order I had to pick up my order which was an inconvenience for me. Terrible very money hungry business

Best Sushi I have had in the Boston area. Good presentation and accurate order. Small place, only 6 tables with a total of 20 chairs, but great sushi.

This is my favorite sushi restaurant on the North Shore! The family who runs it is so kind and they clearly care about their customers. The prices are the best around which is seriously impressive because the sushi is always fresh and delicious. I order takeout very often and it’s always on time and packed neatly with extra soy sauce, chopsticks, napkins, etc! This place is awesome!

I think they get there fish from the canal. Sushi tasted old and rice was old and hard. Better hope I don't get sick.

We were very surprised to learn this restaurant is take out only, after we made a special trip since it had such a great Yelp rating. I wish I would have visited their actual website in advance. The dining room is now being used for dry storage, which looks terrible and doesn't feel very organized. We considered ordering takeout but then looked over and saw one of the employees' dental retainers soaked in saliva and sitting on a napkin on a table near where you order. We decided to call it a day and skip lunch altogether. We never tried the food but the cleanliness and vibe get 2 stars from me.

My go to spot for sushi takeout. Great rolls, great prices and quick delivery. Very reasonable prices. Sushi without the added instant indigestion that comes with a 180$ tab.

Really love this little sushi shop for its affordability and fun customization available online. They also have fun Japanese candy on a table at the door. I would highly recommend pickup vs delivery as they do a mix of hot and cold and sushi is best cold as quickly as possible to your door. The family and workers there seem nice and hardworking a local business that it feels great to suooort

Customer service is great. The time they tell you your food is ready is always accurate. Wish they could deliver to places out of Salem but I'm ok with driving there. I don't Even have ONE complaint and that's very rare cause I complain a lot. Also the woman that answers the phone is very welcoming.

Minzu is our go-to sushi place on the North Shore. Easy to order online, and it's always fresh and tastes so good. The rolls are a bit smaller than other sushi places we've tried, but their rolls are also less expensive. Certainly not a complaint--it allows me to order one more roll than I usually order for an added variety. Pick up service is always fast, friendly and on-time. Ample free parking in the lot. My favorite sushi place in the area!

I was a tourist to the area who was sick of lobster. Thank you, Yelpers, for leading me here. While the takeout-only service was a surprise, everything else about the experience was wonderful - friendly fast service (12 minutes!) and fresh firm fish. I ordered #77 nigiri and sushi set and was in 7th heaven with my dinner. They pack everything you could possibly need in a brown bag - low sodium soy sauce, chopsticks, napkins. Just be careful unpacking your feast because they use a lot of staples to ensure your meal survives transport.

This is probably the best place I know for classic Maki and Miso soup. They treat family very nice and I will definitely going back here to try more of their food. Amazing food what else can I said very friendly the person who was at the counter and also the person who was at the sushi bar.

Great sushi. They readily accommodated my wife who is gluten and dairy free. The true test is she did not get sick afterwards meaning their handling of the food is great ( menu has many items that have gluten) . Service was fast and dishes reasonably priced

Taken me many years on the north shore to find this gem!! I highly recommend Minzu!! Lunch was divine. And hellooooo the prices are insanely fair. You will not be disappointed. Fish is fresh! fresh!!!! Enjoy and you are welcome!!!

Maybe my expectations were too high after reading the reviews, but I was pretty underwhelmed. This place is okay. Not particularly good, but not particularly bad either. The restaurant is a little hole-in-the wall place that I would have never found had I not been looking for it. It's very small and simplistic inside so I get the impression they do mainly takeout orders. Especially since clicking "full menu" on their website leads to their GrubHub page. I sat at the sushi "bar" which was really just an awkward counter where I couldn't even see the sushi chef because of all the takeout sushi containers. I ordered the Salem roll, a Minzu roll, and a pair of salmon nigiri since I was particularly hungry that evening. I noticed their "speciality maki" menu was rather limited and most of the roll were Americanized, for lack of a better term. Mostly California roll/spicy tuna roll variations with tempura flakes and different sauces. Not my preference when it comes to sushi personally. The meal was satisfactory, though the quality of the fish wasn't the best. The tuna tasted a bit off (although I'm not a particularly big fan of tuna to begin with). But the rolls were pretty heavy on the sauces so that disguised any unpleasant tastes. Customer service was great and everything was clean so points for that. But since I don't frequently go to Salem I can't see myself going back.

I usually go into Boston for sushi, after reading some of the reviews I had to give it shot. Let me tell you sushi Absolutely outstanding sushi!! I got the spicy tuna roll, salmon avocado with cucumber and Philadelphia roll. All we're absolutely delicious. Super fresh, great pricing better than Whole Foods, Market Basket. And I took it go. If it's a beautiful day I highly recommend taking the sushi to go and enjoying a nice little Picnic at Salem Willows Park less than 10 min drive. Enjoy

We ordered delivery from Minzu and it showed up right on time! The temperature was good, the rolls were delicious, and the nigiri was great! Definitely pleased with the experience. The only reason they didn't get a full five from me is that there was a lot of single-use plastic waste from our meal...would be nice to have something a little less wasteful.

I've been to this place a few times since they've opened and every time the food has been delicious. I've gotten a few different rolls and the fish has always been fresh. The portions are pretty big and the prices are reasonable. The family that owns this place is so welcoming and nice. I want to keep supporting this small family business. I really hope they continue to do well!

We love Minzu. The specialty makis are all delicious! We've had the spring rolls, get tempura all. DELISH. And they deliver fast. Promised in 70 minutes, barely 30. Easy online ordering - all good. I'd like the edamame a bit less cooked, but this is a minor quibble. A go to!!

I decided to try Minzu Sushi for lunch during the week. The restaurant is very clean, smells great, seems to be very organized. At 1:00pm, there were only two people in there for lunch, so I didn't know what to think at first glance. The menu is very simple (slightly overpriced for the suburbs as there are places in the city that sell spicy tuna for $4.99). I ordered spicy tuna avocado (they charged me $8.00 for the roll because i asked for avocado), spicy girl, a snapple iced tea, and vegetable gyoza steamed dumplings. The waiter serving me seemed, 'mentally challenged," to put it lightly. He could barely seem to comprehend English and he moved at a glacial pace even when I requested something simple like a bottle of Snapple. It was infuriating to sit through. The food was very fresh and good, so I would return, but probably on a different day when they have another server working.

In our two years of ordering this place never fails! It's our go to for good takeout sushi experience! The staff is also super friendly and puts great attention in quality of the food. Presentation is great and we haven't been disappointed with the freshness ever.

Visiting Boston I came across this sushi spot and I was pleasantly delighted. The interior was nice and clean, looked new! Small but cozy. Our waiter Mike greeted us and jaded us menus. To drink he recommended a Japanese soda with a marble in the bottle that was fun to open and also delicious! We had a miso soup with no seaweed and extra tofu and two rolls. The Godzilla and the crazy roll with eel sauce on the side. Both were delicious and made to perfection!! We also ordered a seaweed salad to go that was delicious I had it for lunch the next day and about 2 extra misos cuz they were $2 and delicious! Would definitely recommend and will visit when I return! Thanks for the great experience Mike!

Amazing service and even better food. I love the dynamite roll and tuna tartar, but everything from the Crazy Roll to the Lollipops and Spring Rolls are bomb. Super fast delivery and the person who they send is always lovely.

I order from Minzu every week and sometimes multiple times a week. Every time I am extremely satisfied and always recommend Minzu to my friends when they ask where I typically get sushi. They have delicious, affordable sushi that is much better than other sushi restaurants in the Salem/Peabody area. A must try for any sushi lover.

Clean and very simple yet great tasting sushi spot. Everything is always fresh I've never ever had my digestive system react poorly to their food (I'm very sensitive in that area lol) Sushi is prepared right in front of you and the prices are very reasonable in comparison to other sushi spots. Wow! Just yum and wow. I called in a pickup order for Deep Fried Mini Shrimp Spring Rolls, Salem Maki, Dragon Maki, Crazy Maki and Dynamite Maki. The spring rolls were tasty. Still nice and warm. Good crunch. Typical as far as spring rolls go. Awesome price at under $3. But this isn't Minzu Spring Roll This is Minzu SUSHI... The sushi is amazing. Yum and WOW. Served on your typical take out rectangular sushi plate, my eyes had the first taste. Nicely rolled. Uniformly portioned. Clear difference in the types of maki. Next I found the maki roll did not unravel, nor did anything fall out when I picked it up with my chopsticks. Once I was actually eating the maki rolls the flavors were excellent. No off taste. No too chewy bits, or too crunchy chunks, or non-complimenting textures. Everything came together for one delightful bite after another. Yum. Wow. Yum. Wow. Yum. Wow. (Thats the sound of me chewing). The Dynamite Maki is fried. This was the first time I have ordered fried Maki. It was fun, delicious and something i would order again. Whether or not it is considered "traditional " I do not know but, it was certainly not out of place. The menu consists of sushi, a few starters, a few beverages and sushi. GOOD. I would much prefer a restaurant strive for excellence in a smaller selection than achieve mediocrity in 10 pages of menu items. I like you Minzu. I like you a lot.

Went to Salem Willows with my 2 kids and saw this new sushi gem on Yelp. With the recent reviews, I had to give it a try. First off, the place is small. Maybe 8 tables total and seating for 6 or so at the sushi bar. We were politely greeted, seated and given menus. I was very surprised on the low prices, especially for the special rolls. What was really great was that the menu had an insert with nice pics of all the special rolls. I got the nigiri set (10 pieces of nigiri and a tuna roll.. comes with miso soup) and my son wanted to try the Crazy roll (shrimp tempura and cucumber, topped with crab, spicy mayo, and eel sauce), so we shared that. He also got an order of pork gyoza. My daughter got miso soup and they both got a bowl of sushi rice. The miso soup was very good. A fair amount of seaweed, which I liked. My son also enjoyed the gyoza, which came with a thick plum/soy sauce. The nigiri set came with tuna, salmon, shrimp, mackerel, and yellowtail (2 pieces each). I'm usually not a fan of mackerel, but this had a hint of sweetness/citrus (ponzu perhaps?) which made it very delightful. My only criticism is that fish cuts were a little small (tuna roll was a bit small as well)... but that is balanced by the fact that it was $19.95. Most similar plates like this are closer to $25 at other sushi establishments. The crazy roll was great. My son (who normally is a picky eater, but is just starting to explore the world of sushi) gobbled down 3 pieces with a thumbs up. I'm not a big fan of fried shrimp in my rolls, but I thought it was good. Better is the fact that it is only $8.95. Similar rolls at other sushi restaurants are easily $12-15. We got an avocado salad for my wife to go. Whole sliced avocado with crab salad on top ($5.95). Looks very fresh. Bill came out to $56 with tax and tip. We aren't usually in Salem, but will definitely visit again if we are!

The service was prompt and the prices are good, but the sushi really lacked flavor. I was quite disappointed because the ingredients sounded so good but when I got home, it was all rather bland and I had paid for extra sauces which were never put in my bag so I couldn't even improve the flavor myself....anyway I'm thankful they were open at this difficult time.

Parking and on the way home from work! We have picked up take out 2x. Very fresh, well done, affordable, super nice service, made to order sushi. Loved the tuna tartare with fried lotus root. Definitely going to be on our frequent rotation!

New sushi spot in Salem. We Had to try it out. Not much parking out front. Only about 6 tables in there with a small sushi bar. Great service, very fresh sushi, and beautiful presentation. We ordered a garden salad to start which came with a delicious ginger dressing, also a avocado crab salad. We had the caterpillar roll, spicy lady roll, California roll which were all amazing. Excellent experience. You got to try this place out if you love sushi.

Absolutely terrific!!! We went here by accident, but so glad that we did. For a very low price, you can get quite high quality sushi. From our perspective, the classic maki rolls are truly classic and stay true to theirs flavors, just about fish and rice, and not about drenching the sushi in different kinds of sauce for presentation like other sushi places. The rice was cooked perfectly, being very soft and flavorful but not too mushy. The fish tastes fresh. 100% recommended!!

Wow this sushi was Amazing!!!!! I ordered the Gyoza, the Salem Maki, and a California Maki. Everything was so delicious and fresh!!

This is a very good sushi place. I enjoyed the Salem maki. The miso soup was spot on. The gyoza is perfectly crispy and delicious. The staff is at tentative and friendly. There are tables here for eating in but if you come with a large party it could be an issue. Maybe call ahead. I will definitely be coming back.

I recently tried the Dragon and Rainbow maki at Minzu and I will definitely be a repeat customer. The maki was delicious, well priced, and you can watch your order being prepared with fresh ingredients.

We love Minzu Sushi! Excellent sushi, prices, and people. We have tried most of our local sushi restaurants and this is our overall favorite. Take out is always ready on time and it is also very pleasant to eat there. The waitstaff is very attentive. We have ordered most things on the menu, and everything has always been fresh and delicious! Thank you Minzu for being a great neighborhood spot!

Extremely reasonably priced sushi. We popped in for a Saturday evening dinner. Had the sweet potato roll, tempura shrimp roll, spicy tuna roll and salmon avocado. Generous fish to rice ratio! I do with they had a few other hot menu items, but what they do, they do well! The restaurant was a bit chilly. Perhaps turn up the heat a bit. I did notice they have a thriving take out business. Hopefully that continues because I would really like to see Minzu thrive!

In the several months since Minzu opened I have gotten about one order a week; each time the lunch special of 3 rolls plus a soup for $12. They have given me a quality product with very pleasant service every time I have been there. I will continue to support this business.
