Mirabelle Restaurant & Tavern

I used to love this place. It even holds a special spot in my heart, as it’s where we had our wedding dinner years ago. Unfortunately, it feels like the restaurant has completely lost its core since then. It still calls itself a French restaurant, but hardly anything on the current menu reflects that anymore. The card has been stripped down by at least 60%, and the few remaining items feel generic and uninspired. We were a party of eight celebrating my birthday, but it didn’t feel like much of a celebration once we sat down. Service was inattentive despite the restaurant being nearly empty on a Sunday evening. We had to ask multiple times just to get refills. The bread that used to be complimentary, and sourdough/pain de campagne, has been replaced with something that looked (and tasted) like over-salted fast-food buns and no longer free of charge. Adding to the disappointment, you can no longer dine in the actual restaurant area except on Friday or Saturday nights. The rest of the week you’re seated in the tavern side, which looks and feels more like an Irish pub than a French restaurant. It’s genuinely sad to see how far this place has drifted from what made it special: the authenticity, the charm, and the attention to detail that once reminded me of home. I won’t be coming back.

I just have to give a big shoutout to our server Nicolette for Easter brunch—she was absolutely fantastic! Her professionalism, warmth, and attention to detail truly elevated the experience. Such a great asset to the Mirabelle Tavern team!

We had dinner tonight at the Tavern, and the most unexpected thing was the exceptional service by Marc. He was knowledgeable, professional and helpful. He was one of the best servers we have ever encountered. A gem! The Tavern is lucky to have him!

We had brunch at Mirabelle on Sunday to celebrate the upcoming birth of my grandson, it was wonderful! Check out their menu and bottomless mimosas.

My husband and I attended their “Bark and Bites” event, this was our first time at Mirabelle. We appreciated how well thought out the event was from the table spacing to the personalized doggie place mats. You can tell everyone was excited about it. We were offered a prix fixed menu, which we felt was well priced and well portioned. The food was great and we’d return again, with or without our pup. Nicolette was our server, she was personable and attentive.

We first tried this restaurant in December and it’s quickly become our go-to spot for everything from special occasions to happy hour and casual lunches—and every experience has been fantastic. We were there again yesterday for lunch and haven’t stopped talking about how insanely good the French fries were. They might just be the best we’ve ever had Our server Reece was also a standout—friendly, attentive, and made our visit feel extra enjoyable. It’s rare to find a place that’s consistently great across the board, but this one never disappoints. Highly recommend!

The meal started off strong but then our server disappeared. They cleared plates but never asked if we wanted more drinks. By the end I was signaling our server just to get her to come over. Service was not good. Should have just sat at the bar! Food was fine. Drinks were good.

Marc was our server and did a fantastic job. The rest of the staff also did a terrific job! Thank you for making our dinner experience positive.

We were here for a cocktail party, pre-wedding day for my cousin. The venue is lovely, the bar is a bit dark which just think was supposed to make to more of an intimate ambiance but really just strains eyes while looking at menus. A small group of us had gathered around one of the high top tables and again, likely for intimate ambiance, but there was not as many chairs as there could have been here. And despite our waiter being really nice, I was a bit surprised they didn't offer to bring over more chairs when seeing my sister-in-law standing at the table. The menu offers two mocktails, both of which my sister-in-law chose and we all tried. The black berry jam was less a mocktail and more just straight juice. Which if that's your thing do order this one, but if you were expecting something more....virgin drink type, skip this one and order the other one. It's much better. We ate light here and opted to have a full dinner elsewhere, but my sister-in-law ordered the warm goat cheese on toast and my brother, mom and I opted on the fish and chips which the waiter told us was a favorite. The goat cheese on toast was not what I expected, this was a salad with a side, single piece of thick cut and toasted sourdough with a round chunk of warm goat cheese. I can't really express enough how giant a ball of goat cheese this way and how it looked. Now, visuals aside, my sister-in-law said it was good. The salad was tasty with the mustard vinaigrette which leaned more to the mustard side and was made better with the goat cheese mixed in. The fish and chips were as served with three pieces of fried fish over a bed of fries and Yukon chips, a wedge of lemon and a side of tartar sauce and ketchup. Considering the cost of this dish, this was a total pass with the only really good item being the fries. Even with tartar sauce and lemon the fish was just bland from batter to fish inside. The Yukon chips actually soak up the lemon and turn soggy so watch where you squeeze the wedge. The chips (fries) were seasoned just enough to be appealing and held up to lemon juice really well. Next time I think it may be better to just order the fries. All in all, lovely bar, nice staff, over priced for the quality.

Love this hidden gem in town. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is nice. The outdoor seatings are so beautiful and the service is very good and attentive.

If you're looking for the dinning experience you got when Mirabelle's was in Saint james you will be disappointed, if you're okay with an upscale tavern then it's fine, but it's not what it used to be. I think we got them on a bad day the last couple of times I went there, so perhaps I need to give them one more chance but not expect what I used to expect when eating there.

Years ago this place was located in St James's ...think....it was a celebration. All I remember is a beautiful presentation... thought , this is not enough food for the price. lol. Ok my meal was like a small mountain of goodies. When i was almost done. ..I noticed I was full!!! So never judge a book by its cover...and sorry this was like 15 years ago. They have moved. But I'm sure they are as delicious....

My partner and I had a wonderful Valentine's Day evening at Mirabelle! Each course was absolutely delicious, the bacon wrapped filet mignon was BEYOND!!! The cooks obviously know what they're doing! Our waitress Alexis was a sweetheart too, making sure everything was good and we were happy :) Overall a romantic evening with amazing food, I couldn't have asked for more!

Christmas date night out with the husband, and this place is great as always. Such a perfect romantic spot, we even got the booth where we could sit side by side all nice and cozy! The service was excellent even with the small wedding going on. For food my husband and so shared the flavorful duck tacos (without jalapeño). For dinner, he had the salmon and I had the halibut (without olives). Both excellent dishes. For dessert he had the flourless chocolate cake and I had the vanilla creme brulee. My creme brulee came with an unexpected biscotti which was a nice tasty treat. The cake was decadent and the creme brulee was smooth and blissful. Overall, was an amazing meal and date even with the bar background noise. I'm sure we will be back again one day.

Poor service, lied about the ingredient, and small portions, Went for Restaurant Week Spring 2025. Was not crowded. I ordered what they called "Oxtail-short rib ragu, toasted breadcrumbs, orange-parsley gremolata" What I got was overcooked shredded stew meat with thick pasta noodles in a very salty common brown gravy. SAD! I am very familiar with both Oxtail and Short Ribs and this was neither. Dry and tasteless and everything was overpowered by the strong salty gravy. Maitre D was unfriendly at best. Room was very cold, had to ask 3 times to lower the thermostat (to 72, must have been in the 60;s before). Secondary wait/bus staff was inattentive. Served cold tap water with no ice. Had to ask TWICE for ice for the waters, staff made 3 trips back and forth from the service station to the kitchen before bringing us ice for the table? Had to ask twice for some lime for our water (bus staff took our limes without asking when they cleared the first course from the table. Portions were very small. Salmon was good, chocolate cake was excellent. Chicken was very good. Not going back, prices are sky high, descriptions are very elegant but the food doesn't measure up, nor the service.

Delicious food, lovely atmosphere, we sat by a fireplace and it was relaxing. Our waiter Aidan was attentive and friendly. we are glad we had our Thanksgiving meal here with a friend. K.B.

I have never dined at a restaurant for Thanksgiving. At the suggestion of friends' who have had the holiday buffet here before, I accompanied them. Our waiter, Peyton was the saving grace of my visit here. He was friendly and gracious. I ordered a Cabernet to start off and headed to the room where the buffet was set up. One side for hot entrees the opposite side for cold appetizers/breads/salads. I chose to partake in the green bean casserole, Mac and Cheese, sweet potatoes and turkey breast with gravy. I finished filling my plate with a few small pieces of baked salmon. Besides the pumpkin ravioli, I cannot remember the other hot entrees available. There was a carving station with fresh turkey, prime rib and pork shoulder available. From the cold side, Caesar salad, rye bread with raisins and olives looked good to me. Someone at our table picked up the cold shrimp with lemon for us. Well back at our table, the Cabernet was terrible. It lacked body and was flavorless. This was unfortunately the adjectives that I would use for the rest of the meal as well. The cold shrimp had that slimy wet look. You know it...frozen shrimp that's left in a container way after it has thawed. Yuck! The sweet potatoes and Mac and Cheese were completely flavorless. I did not continue after the first bite. I had to ask for condiments (salt/pepper) as none were provided on the tables. I used a ton of salt to make the green beans edible. The turkey breast was okay, baked salmon was excellent. We were able to recover from the horrid Cabernet house wine fiasco, by getting a bottle of French Cabernet...heavenly! Yet another room held all the desserts offered for the night. Cakes, cookies, pies, fresh fruit etc. I enjoyed a slice of pecan pie and fruit. Unfortunately for me dining here this night, resulted in a stomachache so painful it woke me up out of my sleep early Friday morning. Peyton's attentiveness and overall warm demeanor was instrumental in keeping our holiday spirits high in the mist of an extremely disappointing meal.

Appetizers and dessert was delicious, the entree was not well cooked, though the salmon was delicate and delicious, but had oddly sweet one-note accompaniment. Nicolette was a kind, helpful, and well-seasoned waitress.

Was here for an event, so we ordered from their pre fixe menu. No complaints with what I ordered. Ended up enjoying the shrimp/avocado appetizer more than I thought I would! Pork chops were tender and flavorful. Meal was rounded out with coffee and delicious lava cake.

It's been a long time, but I remember well how badly my girlfriend and I were treated when we arrived for our dinner reservation. I was appropriately dressed with coat and tie, and my beautiful girlfriend at the time wore an expensive tailored navy colored pants suit. Apparently, the 50-something man who greeted us upon arrival had fashion training and experience because he decided on the spot that a pants suit was inappropriate attire and refused our reservation. It took every ounce of reserve I had to keep myself from strangling that man on the spot! What a pretentious creep! I'll never forget or forgive that treatment. I see that Yelp reviewers rate this establishment about "average" overall. My rating would be lower than that. Much lower. One last thing - many top reviews were written by people who had never written a single review, or at the most a handful, in the past. THIS TELLS ME THEY ARE FAKE! Apparently, the manager or owner has asked staff and friends to write 5-star reviews in order to fraudulently prop up the reputation of the restaurant. I suggest reading the Most Recent reviews. They tell the whole story- and it's not a great one.

Mirabelle is a very nice, historic location, and cozy spot for dinner, we went here a few weeks ago when it was time to try a new restaurant, and we had a relaxing and enjoyable evening. The dining room was very comfortable, and the decor was upscale and charming. Had a nice table next to the wall, and the server who was taking care of us was just 18 years old, but he had a good head on his shoulders and made great conversation. The food was also very good, I remember the soup was delicious, the main (the duck) was good, but could have been better, and the desert was a sweet ending. I do also remember that I had 2 drinks off the menu, the first one was fine, the second one was god awful, but the restaurant saved itself by making a new one and no charging on the bad drink. So be wary of the bartenders. They had the choice of a Pre Fixe menu which we went for, and it worked out well. If I could give a half star this would be a 3.5 but it leans 4 because of accommodating on things that needed correction. We had a good time here, and I do recommend for people looking for a nice dinner spot in Stony Brook.

Mirabelle is a cozy upscale restaurant in Stony Brook. The food has some really stand out dishes and some average dishes. Of the starters, I really enjoyed the Foie Gras and steak tartare - the foie gras had a nice texture and the tartare was fresh and flavorful. We also tried the asparagus and mushroom salad and the burrata salad. Both were light and refreshing. Of the mains, the duck was okay. The glaze was good but the meat was not infused well with flavors. I tried the scallops which was hearty and well cooked but a bit too salty for my liking. The desserts were really ordinary or just weird. The affogato was completely melted ice cream in the coffee served in a glass with a very tiny amount... you had to drink it because the spoons would not reach. The keylime pie was very buttery in the crust and far too sweet. The sorbet was refreshing but nothing out of the ordinary. The profiteroles (like cream puffs) were actually enjoyable but messy to eat with the chocolate sauce. The ginger almond tart was very sweet, brittle, and gritty. Service was a bit slow and the restaurant was not crowded. Additional notes from friends who dined here: The drinks are strong and the oysters were very fresh and tasty.

I'm probably being generous by giving 2 stars but it deserves an extra because it is a good location but that's about it. The place was dirty. Straws and silverware on the floor, hair on the table. The silverware was also dirty. The food was overpriced and lacked flavor, was cold and just wasn't good. The service was horrendous as well. The waiter was no where to be found. When it was finally time to leave which I couldn't wait for we were given the wrong check and had to wait another 20 minutes for the correct one. Needless to say I wouldn't go back or recommend.

Last year we took our daughter to her favorite restaurant, Mirabelle, for her birthday.The service was extremely slow. Once we were seated, it was as if we didn't exist. My husband had to go to the bar to get a wait person for extra flat ware. The soup was cold and his dinner was too rare. There was a wedding going on at the same time so it seemed as if the party was the priority and not the regular customers. We go out to dinner quite a bit, but it will be a long time before we return to Mirabelle's.

Yesterday we went to Mirabell's Thanksgiving Buffet. It was not good. very disappointed. Turkey, Ham, and Beef stations had cold, tough meat. There was plenty of food, all cold. Desserts were over sweet and cloying. The presentation was impressive but as I said disappointing. Service was also uneven. Numerous people milling about, looking at empty dishes piling up on the table had to ask several times to remove empty dishes etc. We were Charged extra for non-alcoholic drinks and coffee. They tacked on a 25% tip before asking!! Not nice will not go there again. Disappointed

Again we enjoyed another lovely Thanksgiving Day at Mirabelle Three Village Inn. The ambiance of this historic establishment was warm and elegant. All the offerings of the buffet were delicious - it was hard to not over indulge. We did miss the raw oysters as had been offered in years past. Please bring them back! Lastly, the service could not have better! Our server, AIDAN C. was so pleasant and cordial. He was attentive, efficient and despite being very busy, never was without a smile. He made our visit to Mirabelle one that we thoroughly enjoyed.

I've enjoyed my experience is here every time we sit. That's what it's all about right? There's an elevated level of expectations when you dine here. Been here several times, and even have visited this restaurant when it was in St. James. One of the times we've been here we actually got engaged so this restaurant holds a special nostalgia for us no doubt. Mirabelle is at the Three Village inn which was built in the 1750s, set in the beautiful and quiet Stony Brook area. They do very well to maintain as much historic originality and charm making for a really unique experience. The restaurant has been under the direction of executive chef Guy Reuge, although I do believe he may be stepping back a bit but is still offering his expertise. What we ordered: Appetizer: Flammkuchen: this is flatbread with bacon and onions. I actually have some criticism on this. This was some thing that we could've done without, really nothing to get excited about. Raw oysters: Oysters were fresh and received from a local distributor. Drinks: The Mirabelle Smoked Harbor Road Generously made and flavorful. We had multiple. Kids: Pasta marinara, Kobe sliders, and a side a broccolini. The kids will eat good here that's for sure. No frozen nonsense, fresh and delicious. The sliders were cooked a perfect medium, the pasta was flavorful that any adult would enjoy and the broccolini was very good as well. Dinner: Halibut Loin of lamb Amazing! What thoughtful insight into creating these dishes! Expertly crafted, careful selection of ingredients, and cooked to perfection. Again the expectations are high, and these two entrées did not disappoint. The halibut was robust in flavor and Hardy for a fish dish. The lamb was seasoned perfectly and cooked to a perfect temperature. Absolutely amazing. You're going to find the staff to be professional and accommodating. Services prompt and on point. I recommend this place for their food, charm, and location.

We have been dining at Mirabelle for years! Gourmet food at great prices! Lovely Tavern dining atmosphere and incredible wait staff. Now that Fernando, the chef has taken over for Guy Reuge, the former chef and owner the quality has still remained!! KS

Thank you Tom for accommodating our group of 15 at Sunday morning's brunch! We were seated at the high tops in the tavern and it was perfect for our group. Peyton & Cristine "Red" were personable, professional & perfect. It seemed like we got our coffees and mimosas minutes after being seated; the cold brew iced made a big hit. Christine kept our glasses refilled all morning. Brunch was very special. That was the best eggs Benedict I have ever had, thank you Justin for giving me the secret to that hollandaise sauce. My husband's fish and chips were abundant, crispy and delicious. Our guests raved about their pancakes, omelettes, eggplant parm, mac & cheese, smoked salmon .... I wish you were closer you would be our Sunday morning brunch spot! Please consider relocating down to Florida like everybody else on Long Island.

Aiden is extremely courteous and polite, very attentive , and always kept us in his peripheral which made our very first experience at three villages to be an amazing and we will return. Thanksgiving day buffet was so good , the ambience is everything a holiday should be!

Although the service was fine, the food and the cost for lunch leave a lot to be desired. The waitress started off by telling us the menu was recently updated. No more lunch special and the salads are now half the size. Strange way to open a conversation about the menu. The goat cheese salad was tasty. The chicken breast was very dry and the accompanying veggies were way over salted. The pasta with short ribs was too sweet. The tavern burger was the bright spot. We didn't bother with dessert.

The food was delicious, great flavor and portion. The steak and eggs were perfectly cooked. My husbands burger was as well. Our server Aiiden was great. Friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. We will be going back and bring folks with us.

The food was delicious and the service, provided by Reece, was excellent. The ambiance of Valentine's Day was not enjoyable. There was a large group of 10, including children, seated near us who were quite loud. The rest of the tables around us were occupied by 1 or 2 couples each. Considering on Valentine's Day there is a special premium price menu, perhaps a separate area should be reserved for larger groups, and the rest of the areas for romantic couples.

Our server Reece, was amazing. He was knowledgeable about everything on the menu. The food was excellent and having Reece as our server made it even more enjoyable.

Red was great. At first we weren't given the table we put in a reservation for, and when we realized no one was actually sitting there, Red went out of her way to talk to the host to seat us at our requested table. She really turned our night around. Food was great too.

Experience was spot on. Service was exceptional. Table was quiet and private. There was attention to detail every step of the way. Our server Reece added to the experience by knowing the menu, the preparation, and feedback from satisfied guests. Reece delivered - and so did the kitchen because the food was fantastic.

If you ever wanted to experience hospital food without the ER cost then this is the spot for you. No health insurance needed! Food was inedible, I think the kitchen at splish splash can make better mac n cheese. If you're looking to lose weight quick, this is your stop. One look at the buffet and filthy plates and you'll instantly lose your appetite. Servers were sweet, although no one told our server he had a table for 10 + mins. But I'll let that slide, bar drink was pure lime juice curdled and we sent it back. This place needs to say night night

Reece was the most amazing server We have ever had here and been come here since Mirabelle opened. This is why I will be back food always amazing but Greece made the night with timing and attention to detail with dinner. Everything came out on time perfectly cooked and his interaction with the table was priceless I will be back for him and shoutout to Kieth keeping the bar. Cheers!

I rarely write reviews for restaurants unless I had a truly outstanding experience (okay, there was that one negative one). A summer dinner with my wife and mother in law became an experience to remember at Mirabelle. We dined outside with perfect weather not far from the bay, so the ambience benefited from that, but the patio next to the historic home was very nice. I can't comment on the inside, but my wife spoke highly of the decor. There was a wedding reception inside -reportedly very lively- and we didn't hear a peep to interrupt the outdoors. Grace was our server and she was excellent. Attentive and personable, she chatted with us and answered all our questions. It was the food that really made the experience so special. First, my Hendricks and tonic was quite properly prepared (you'd be surprised how many can tank this drink). Not stingy with the gin and correctly garnished. We had a crab cake and these chick pea fries. They were so good, and it left me wondering how to get that firm consistency. We were all in the mood for scallops. They were cooked perfectly. It was more than the main dish or the presentation, each and every garnish, sauce, tomato, everything was notable in its quality. I think that's why I had to write. And btw, the cost was fair. We went to a cool Bayshore restaurant recently and you pay real money for a good but not amazing experience. You want a negative comment? Okay, our table was wobbly. I hadn't read the other reviews before I went. I'm disappointed others had a bad experience. We had a great one not far from home.

The ambience is worth 5 stars for sure!! Great for a date night ! Staff are attentive and provide great service. Drinks - go for the cocktails! We sometimes just go there for cocktails (as there is no cocktail bar in our areas). The bartenders are legit! Mixology type :) Food-wise... They are good but not mind blowing. Definitely go for the duck (if you like duck) as that is consistently delicious! I had other entrees, which were okay. Are they worth the price? Well, let's say the ambience and the service make it worthy. I will recommend Mirabelle for a romantic dinner!

Had high hopes, left disappointed. Wanted to try Mirabelle for months, upon being seated we noticed hair on our table and were immediately agrossed out. The food was decent but nothing special, wasn't wowed by anything. My drink was weak, didn't taste the vodka at all. Goat salad-ok. Sadly probably the best thing I ate. Cavatelli-good but after the first few bites I was sick of it. Fish and chips- bland and soggy Dessert I've had better. Was served a dirty spoon, waiter was nowhere to be found, went to the bar to get a spoon and to our surprise that was also DIRTY! Maybe it was an off night but I wouldn't recommend and have no desire to come back.

Love the ambiance of this historic building, and the dining room is always a pleasure. The service is excellent, as well as the food. On a recent visit with another couple, everyone was happy with their selections. An added plus - we were the last people in the restaurant as it was a weeknight and cleared out on the early side, but our waitress brought us a last round of drinks right before the bar closed, we settled the tab, and she encouraged us to feel free to stay and linger to enjoy our conversation.

Good food, good setting, good value -- excellent service from Aidan! It was nice to be in a quiet place, not noisy or rushed. I'd like a brunch menu instead of just a lunch menu, but otherwise a good visit.

Aidan C was a very friendly and personable server. The food was also very good. The general setup was nice, though the music was mixed.

The service and food amazing! Always perfect ... not very many great places like this anymore...
