The Best Dishes Eater Editors Ate This Week: June 2 | Eater LA

"A family-owned neighborhood bakery in Burbank where everything is made on-site, from breakfast sandwiches, lattes, and aguas frescas to cakes, cookies, muffins, scones, and a chocolate-strawberry doughnut noted for its ideal moist consistency and restrained sweetness; the doughnut pairs particularly well with a basic cup of coffee, and staff who know regulars are happy to recommend treats like the doughnut or the coffee cake." - Eater Staff

This is my favorite spot for breakfast in Burbank. Great variety of options for breakfast. Their bakers is amazing. Tasty sweets! Their coffee is also delicious. I love the hot oat milk latte and also breakfast burrito with bacon and avocado- potatoes on my the side for me. I highly recommend this spot!

Google
You could not ask for better food or friendlier service! It's small so seating is a little cramped inside, but there is outdoor seating with umbrellas. Their portions are large; chicken sandwich is my favorite. Their coffee is perfect. Pastries are always great. Nothing bad to say about Miracle Bakery.

Google
I love coming here and have been doing so for a long time. They are the best early food in the area. Food is fresh, service is knowledgeable and friendly, and I always feel welcome every time I'm here. Sometimes I like to change it up and ask to customize some things, and some combinations will have to be paid extra, but the quality is always there and the care in creating the food and drink is amazing. Coffee is fresh and not bitter, fresh juices are lovely! They do cakes, pastries, sandwiches and burritos, amazing Mexican and bakery fare. Very vegetarian friendly 10/10.

Google
First time in Miracle Bakery today, certainly won't be my last. Ordered their English muffin egg sandwich, a coffee, and a cheddar biscuit. One of the better biscuits I had in a long time. Egg sandwich was simple: lettuce, tomato, bacon, touch of mayo, cheddar, and a nice (unexpected) runny over easy egg. Their cake case looked fantastic, and they had some tasty looking donuts out. Will be back to try some more of their baked goods!

Google
almond croissant is an absolute must!! very good!! The atmosphere was very nice, cute and well organized. Service was great on top of everything (:

Google
Tasty food and great service! Lavender lemonade was delicious.

Google
A great little place for breakfast and brunch. It's primarily focused around Mexican inspired cuisine but they also have killer pies and pastries. Come give it a try. Limited seats inside but there are plenty of outside tables. The staff is super friendly.

Google
Not enough people preach about this place. It’s a beautiful locally owned cafe and bakery that has everything you could want. Amazing breakfast burritos, damn good coffee, devilishly good scones and donuts, and a great service and atmosphere. The people that work here make you feel welcome and graciously craft whatever you desire. Not to mention there’s indoor and outdoor seating that every restaurant in SoCal could learn a thing or two from about decor and a pleasant environment. Go here as soon as you can!

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this spot for awhile now and on Saturday, the stars finally aligned and I popped in. I was very pleased with their menu options. My partner and I were looking more for a quick coffee and pastry, but I locked in their other kitchen items for next time. I got a vanilla latte, which was okay. The syrup looked like they make it in house, which is awesome! It wasn't too sweet. My partner got a cafe de olla latte and the presentation was beautiful! I can't have dairy, so I tried one of their vegan/gluten free donuts. I was so impressed- it was great! Usually gluten free things taste like cardboard, but the donut was good! My partner got the pumpkin flan and said it was great! I'm hoping we come back soon and try some breakfast burritos or another kitchen breakfast item. They even had a vegan tamale! Price point was fair, service was great, and it was super cute inside!

Yelp
Was looking for a nice lunch spot and this location had great reviews. My wife and I had a breakfast burrito/shrimp tacos and for dessert we had a pumpkin donut (wow)with coffee. Everything was soo good.We will definitely be back to try some other items on the menu. Very Friendly staff.

Yelp
This place was not our original plan while driving through Burbank, but let me know it's now going to ALWAYS be the plan. We got an assortment of things and we had zero complaints from myself or my family. The owner is so down to earth, super sweet and accommodating. Made us out of towners feel like his favorite regulars! We got the chilaquiles both red and green, green with barbacoa 9/10 ONLY because I like a little heat and these are mild but flavor was delicious!! I little kick (for my preference and it would be a 10) same for the red with got them asada and my husband and I just shared because we both wanted both. lol. The egg on top cooked perfectly, the fresh avocado and the radish! Perfection! His baked goods the carrot cake muffin, the chocolate croissant the pumpkin cheesecake & his flan all delicious! The muffins perfectly moist and flavorful, the flan firm yet melts in your mouth perfection. And the croissants flaky, crunchy and moist all at once. But the star of the show, his iced Cafe De Olla latte! With his homemade syrup reduction! I had one with my meal and had to get one for the road and craving one as I sit here now. Wishing he wasn't 4 hours away. The place is inside is small, but they have tables and chairs outside to accommodate larger parties while smaller parties inside.

Yelp
First time here and I will say it was a pleasure and a fulfilling experience! The breakfast burrito is definitely a big size to fill me up! Most places have decent size burritos with a higher price. But, not only was it a huge burrito it was also tasty! With the avocado and pico de gallo was the "cherry" on top. The rice wasn't overwhelming just the right amount and beans enough to give that home feel beans but enjoying all the flavors! The chilaquiles as well wow the amount they serve you is a lot! You better come with a big appetite here to finish your food. The Barbacoa was actually juicy! Service very friendly and love the outdoor feel! Definitely would recommend it.

Yelp
A nice little gem with a clean cheerful ambiance for breakfast near McCambridge Park. A variety of selections to choose from. I enjoyed the breakfast quesadilla and my partner loved the crunchy French toast with scrambled eggs and sausage. Started with two delicious donuts to pared with a lavender iced matcha and cappuccino. Limited indoor seating, with nice outdoor accommodations with sunny days umbrellas. Order at the counter and find a seat. Friendly service! Limited parking on premises, but street parking is possible nearby.

Sharon R.

Yelp
First time here and I was very impressed from taste of all food items to the quality and portions. The owner treated everyone who came in very kindly and service was fast. There is two small bar seating areas and two tables so if you're bringing a big party just beware there is limited seating making dining in difficult. They also have a shared parking lot which is nice.

Yelp
Came here last weekend to try their lunch menu menu for the first time. Service as usual was great. I was also grateful there was some solid vegan option (fajita vegan bowl) that was both delicious and had enough protein! Donut and cafe de olla are on point. Highly recommend. Last note - weekends are busier so it is possible that you may have to wait for table (indoor / outdoor) for a moment depending in time.

Yelp
We ordered a to go order and it was ready in less than 15 minutes. Parking is a bit small, but residential is also an option. The staff was friendly and the food was delicious! I ordered the English Muffin breakfast option with country potatoes and all the ingredients in the sandwich were fresh. The country potatoes were diced nicely and had a good flavor to them. We also ordered Nutella French toast topped with strawberry and bananas which were also fresh and we had an order of banana bread which amazing, especially because it did not contain any nuts. The menu selection is ample, so I can't wait to go back and try more items!

Yelp
I wish I would've found this place sooner than the last day I was in Ca. Loved loved loved this quaint little place. Very friendly. Very authentic. Very tasty! My daughter and I ordered lattes with breakfast burritos. She with sausage and I with bacon. If anyone knows me they know that when it comes to cooking. I like to have a balance of flavors and food. This was just that!! My daughters dad order the scrambles eggs with refried beans and yellow rice. He loved it. He also got a cafe de olla which was also delicious and he got a refill! This is going to be our go to every time!!

Black Wolf R.

Yelp
Stopped in here for a looksie and was surprised to find a slice of flan waiting in the case for me. It looked amazing and fresh in the case calling my name. One cup of drip coffee later and I was in desert heaven. My mom set the gold standard for flan which she made at home for special occasions and this one was in the top 3 ! It's very labor intensive to get it right. There other items that sparked a great deal of interest and I will definitely be back to try some other items out. Breakfast burritos, huevos rancheros and chilaquiles! Gentleman making the coffee was very friendly with a heartfelt smile ! Place is compact with inside seating and very clean. Definitely will come back when in the area of Burbank.

Yelp
Super cute little place. Indoor and outdoor seating. Owner/staff were lovely. Great drinks and pastries. Spent a solid hour catching up with a friend in this lovely little spot. It's at the end of the small strip mall with parking.

Yelp
*this is my first time here & I am OBSESSED!!! Right when you walk in it is so clean, fresh and the energy is so bright! I ordered the barbacoa chilaquiles & they are the best I've ever had! The pastries are amazing I got the sweet potato meringue cake & chocolate chip cookie and WOW! The coffee is even better! Iced cafe de olla ‍ I will definitely be coming here more often! The staff are soooo friendly, feels like I'm with family!

Yelp
Had a hankering for chilaquiles and a quick search led me here, and boy am I grateful. Ordered the loaded chilaquiles with barbacoa and from the first bite I couldn't stop devouring the plate. It's a large portion for my dining partner I shared but reluctantly ha! The chilaquiles were layered and balanced - the red sauce wasn't overpowering, the beans which I typically decline were a nice texture addition. Rounded out the meal with an unsweetened ginger peach tea; churro donut and strawberry fancier. As someone who does not prefer churros I ate the churro donut in one sitting, light and dense at the same time, the right proportion of sweetness and delicate - this was clearly baked with love. We were greeted upon entry, and I'm excited to return to try their other delicious options.

Yelp
We were on our way to a different cafe when we passed by this bakery and decided to try this instead--and I am glad we did! We ordered two iced cortados, banana bread, and pupusas for snacks. Everything was good! The banana bread was not very sweet, but it was soft and moist! The pupusas were savory and salty enough. The cortado was strong and also creamy! I hope to come back to try other pastries and food. 5/5 I recommend this place!

Lorelai R.

Yelp
Best barbacoa and agua frescas in Burbank--hands down! The meat is incredibly juicy, tender, and full of flavor. Everything this bakery makes reflects care, love, and high-quality ingredients. I'm holding off on a full five stars because I called ahead for a slice of the vanilla confetti cake, was told it was available, but later got a call saying someone had purchased the whole cake. I appreciated the courtesy call to offer a substitute, but it was a little disappointing. Also, it's not always easy to ask for a to-go container when there's only one person working the front--totally understandable with staffing, but it would help to have some set out like most places do. That said, the atmosphere is always bright and welcoming thanks to the natural sunlight, which I really enjoy. Still a spot I'll keep coming back to!

Yelp
Found this place on Yelp, and decided to try. I got the green salsa chilaquiles ($13.50), and it comes with a good portion. The cafe is small, and doesn't have public restrooms but does have plenty of parking. Chilaquiles must be the most popular thing because everyone inside was ordering the same thing.
google avatar

Alex S.

Yelp
I was in the area craving breakfast and came across this small coffee shop. I ordered a breakfast burrito--really tasty! I wish I had asked for some spicy salsa, but still hit the spot. The customer service was excellent--super friendly and positive staff. Great vibes all around.

Yelp
a small, lovely cafe experience! i found this place on tiktok while looking for a good chilaquiles spot, and they did not disappoint! we tried both the rojo and verde salsas and were very happy with both of them, so i don't think you can go wrong! we ordered the chilaquiles loaded, and i was so happy that they offered soyrizo or tofu as vegetarian options :) the soyrizo was a perfect addition! portions are pretty big, so we ended up having a snack for later. their bakery items all looked delicious! we opted for a chocolate croissant, and it was nice and flakey, just as you would expect! we also ordered a mocha, and were satisfied by the quality of the coffee. lastly, the staff was very nice. for a small place, they made sure to keep the tables bussed and ready for the next customer and we felt very welcomed upon entering. there is both outside and indoor seating available! would definitely come back for the chilaquiles :)

Yelp
Stopped by for a quick snack before watching my nephew's game close by. Located in a small strip mall with limited parking, street parking available. Didn't have time to order their breakfast items but snooping around people's plates, they looked really good. We got pastries and coffee. Their scones & cheddar biscuits are delicious. So are their muffins and croissants. Cute little bakery with a small dining area inside. Friendly workers. Great service.
google avatar

Cayla K.

Yelp
Food is spectacular. Chilaquiles were light but so filling. Just the right amount of spicy. Donuts were flavorful and a great texture. Also ordered a ginger peach iced tea - drank it all before I got a picture but it was delightful. Staff are so friendly and fun to talk with. Some seating inside and outside. Cute lil shop overall. Definitely recommend if you're in the area.

Yelp
I've been coming here since they opened 7 years ago and while it's still a great spot to eat, it's a shame they've moved away from some of their best baked goods like their cakes. They've renovated a lot, which has increased the amount of space available for patrons, and redecorated so the space feels more modern. One thing I wish they'd kept was their mural of owls and iconic Burbank landmarks like the airport and studio lots. To be clear, while it's sad they've changed so much, their service and food is still outstanding. This is a small business owned by a local family that has poured their heart into the space and Martin is extremely hospitable to all customers. You can sometimes catch him singing Frank Sinatra while making coffee. Their baked goods are always fresh and well balanced, so you're not sucker punched with too much sweetness. The chilaquiles are a MUST HAVE for breakfast and they recently expanded their hours to include Thursday and Friday night dinner, so I'm curious to see what new items they add to the menu.
google avatar

Jessica V.

Yelp
Cute corner restaurant. The servers were nice but everything else was quite meh. I ordered an over medium egg with my meal, and it came out watery and overly runny. The cafe de olla was not great, especially when compared to Cafe de Olla in Burbank. The rose donut was pretty, however that was all that was good about it. It was very sweet and bready - the texture was more of a soft bread rather than a donut.
google avatar

Clara B.

Yelp
The breakfast is terrific! Real Mexican food. The atmosphere is really relaxing. A win-win for everybody.

Yelp
I found this little gem on a random day, I just searched "brunch near me", saw that it had good reviews so I had to check it out. This cafe is so welcoming, the inside is small, but cozy. It was such a nice day out I was glad they had outdoor seating, which was perfect! Since I sat outside they brought my food to me, the staff were so kind. I ordered their chilaquiles, an iced latte, a cortado and a blueberry muffin. Everything sounded good so I had to try it! The chilaquiles for me were a bit dry, I prefer a little more sauce, but the flavor is good. The amount of sour cream was perfect and I loved the radish garnish. I've never added radish to my chilaquiles but now I will. I would highly recommend to add an extra egg, I felt one wasn't enough for the amount of tortilla chips it comes with. Everything else was delicious! Loved it!
google avatar

Yelp
Absolutely incredible breakfast burrito with avocado =]] made me smile with every bite. The bacon hit the spot. I also had a vanilla latte hot and it was so yummmmmmmmie. The fresh baked goods kept coming out from the back and it couldn't resist not buying two. I ate one and saving the other one for tomorrow for my breakfast a day later so only time will tell if the flavor will last. I also bought a $20 gift card to bless someone with. I think when you eat a good meal it's always fun to introduce others. I've been here before except the other times I ordered the French toast.
google avatar

Yelp
The jazz music is so calming and comforting on a rainy day. Everybody who works here is super friendly and it's very welcoming. My Shrimp burrito was delicious. Seems like an obscure ítem but they did it just right- shrimp cooked just right, fresh spanish rice, a little cabbage and avocado cream. Avocado cream was mostly guac w a touch of mayo... just delicious. This place is a hidden gem for breakfast and lunch. There's some bar seating and a couple little tables. Perfect little get away from work or nice place to bring your laptop as well. Lots of parking as well.

Elo A.

Yelp
This is not a gluten free bakery. They have 2 different flavors of gluten free doughnuts a day - for $5.50 each. It seemed swell, but it being characterized as a gluten free bakery is wrong.

Kara S.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place. Their GF donuts are to die for-you won't miss the gluten! Their omelette and lattes are excellent too. Cute little hidden gem with great service!
google avatar

Gabriel P.

Yelp
Heard about this spot on the Bad Friends podcast. It didn't disappoint. Got the chorizo burrito, the matcha doughnut, the scone, and the chilechilles. All were great. Coffee was great too. Everyone seemed very kind. Loved the music and the vibe of the place. Very clean. Will return forsure.
google avatar

Sunwoo L.

Yelp
I'd get breakfast here every morning if I could!! the scallion scone was to DIE FOR. I was so happy the staff offered to warm it up for me and offer some butter with it. Everyone here is so friendly, and the latte is perfectly balanced. Love the speed of service and indoor / outdoor seating offered! Truly such a gem and happy my boyfriend and I could enjoy a quiet and delicious brunch on a Saturday morning.
google avatar

Yelp
They don't call this place miracle bakery for nothing. Great tasting lattes . Try their breakfast tacos with nopales. A rare find in town.

Yelp
0/5 = SPIT IT OUT 1/5 = one bite is enough 2/5 = two bites is enough 3/5 = decent 3.5/5 = decent but tastier 4/5 = so good 4.5 = almost 5/5 good 5/5 = LADY GAGA (inspired by her interview meme "talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show stopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique, completely not ever been done before.") After Sweetsalt, it was onto the next bakery in Burbank and I saw top recommendations for Miracle Bakery, all the way from Reddit as well. I am sad to inform you that I did not become a fan and would not return. As always, we order a bit of everything so we have a total of 8 items. 1) blueberry muffin - The sugar crystals on top are a nice touch and there's an alive blueberry flavor but it is very dry. The only good part was the muffin top. 1/5 2) cheese danish - One of the 3 items out of 8 that pass. Nice, fluffy texture with sweet cheese. One critique would be more cheese filling because too much bread. 4/5 3) banana bread - This has a nice crust with nutella swirled on the top. The second of the 3 items out of 8 that pass. Nothing too special but it was tasty. I would have preferred a more softer texture to the bread but it was not dry or rough. 3/5 4) chocolate chip cookie - decent but the outer layer was a bit stale. 3/5 5) Budin - This is the biggest disappointment of all 8. This budin tasted like absolutely nothing. I couldn't even taste straight up sugar. It was the blandest budin and dessert I have ever tasted. I was so confused. Making budin 2 times, I still haven't conquered the right texture but the flavor was still there so I was taken aback how there was no taste to this. 1/5 6-8) cakes Birthday white cake: I noticed their cake textures are similar to tres leches but it doesn't work on all kinds of cakes. It didn't work with this vanilla cake. The frosting was also bland. 1/5 Chocolate cake: Another with tres leches texture and not the best chocolate flavor. 2/5 Oreo cheesecake: The final item of 3 out of 8 that is saved. A really nice oreo flavor and great cream cheese texture. Super yummy! If I had to pick a winner, this one is it! 4.5/5

Yelp
The pozole, the chilaquiles the tacos and all the baked goods are top notch! Finger lickin and happy belly approved!

Muzzette T.

Yelp
My niece found this restaurant which I never realized was three minutes away from me. I'm so glad we decided to dine here because the food is absolutely delicious!. They have the best Chilaquiles I have ever had! And every so often I go to get takeout to have Chilaquiles and a nice mimosa at home.

Yelp
what a lovely mini cafe that i came across while i was in the burbank area. the plaza has good enough parking which is nice. as i walked in, i was immediately greeted by a gentleman who was nice and welcoming. they have outdoor seating which is relaxing especially when the weather is nice and the sun is shinninnn! i had ordered myself the loaded chilaquiles and wooooooow! when they say loaded they mean it! my bowl was full of yummy goodness! one of the best chilaquiles I've tried. thaankyouu to the hispanic lady who made my food. my lunch was absolutely enjoyable. i also ordered myself a matcha vanilla latte and it was absolutely delicious. i love that it did not taste like powder down matcha. i will most definitely be returning to this cafe and try out their other stuff on their menu!

Yelp
Nustled in a quaint Burbank neighborhood and next to a hotel comes Miracle bakery. I found it by looking on yelp before my girlfriend and I went to #horrornights and we knew the next morning we would need a yummy breakfast with ideally some locally pastries of Mexican heritage. Since our hotel was 5 feet away...we walked in...Love and homemade warmth comes from this cozy little cafe. A barista from the bay with a smile, a host with the most, this team makes you feel Welcomed. The pastries were homemade and yummy and many folks came in for the food! Also, the Cafe De Olla latte was so good my girl ordered 2 of them OMG! Gracias and see y'all next visit!
google avatar

Katie C.

Yelp
Everyone here is so nice and the food is great! You can tell they have a lot regular customers. My favorites are the cold brew and the breakfast quesadilla. They make a cafe de olla simple syrup so you can add it to whatever coffee drink you prefer. They also regularly have cake donuts that are absolutely delicious.

Tigran G.

Yelp
Great breakfast options. I get the breakfast burrito and ask for bacon and avocado. Greta service and amazing bakery. Treat yourself to their tasty sweets! I love their hot oat milk latte also. Highly recommend. One of the best bakeries and breakfast spots in all of Burbank.
google avatar

Meena N.

Yelp
Service was very friendly. Small little place with outdoor seating that's dog friendly. We got the Cheese puff Chocolate croissant Cafe de ola latte w almond milk Loaded chilaquiles with Al pastor All amazing. I would check to make sure which sauce you want - the red or the green on the chilaquiles, Some bits of the chilaquiles were a little spicy. Definitely would go back.

Mr M.

Yelp
Found this place a week ago been coming 3 days in a row now prices are great food is excellent service is spectacular food feel like home glad I came across this place
google avatar

Monica R.

Yelp
My husband came today and had a negative experience trying to get us coffees. The lady was super rude and she forgot to add his flavor to the latte. For the price it is off putting. Hoping it's just a fluke. I like the shrimp burritos. The chilaquiles seem to be popular and are ok.
google avatar

Todd H.

Yelp
This is my favorite breakfast place in the Valley! I look forward to coming here after a good hike in the Burbank hills. I am a scone expert, so I'm always looking for the best one in town. Their scones are near the top -flavorful and crunchy. They have an amazing almond croissant -on the big side too! Then there's the coffee -their drip is quite good. They actually give refills, so I can get my second cup to-go! Check it out -muey bien!

Yelp
Amazing food and service. Cozy little cafe :) Pastries were superior and the cafe de olla was a favorite!

Yelp
I always hit this spot on the way home from my yearly Disneyland trip. The pozole verde is my favorite. Chilaquiles also amazing, along with the almond croissant. So good!

Yelp
Yummy place coming every time iam in the area its so delicious. Food is always good and my family loves coming here
google avatar

Michael R.

Yelp
This place is INCREDIBLE. Dynamite chilaquiles. FANTASTIC carne asada torta. Hot pie and ice cream that you WILL NOT forget. Nice people! My only reservation for rating this place 5 stars is more people finding this place and it getting too crowded- its the best!

Yelp
The ambiance, food, and people are amazing. Employees are friendly and spark up conversation as if you known them for years. Starting with the flavorful cup of coffee paired with a delicious pastry to the amazing food it's always worth the 82 mile drive
