The Best Dishes Eater Editors Ate This Week: June 2 | Eater LA

"A family-owned neighborhood bakery in Burbank where everything is made on-site, from breakfast sandwiches, lattes, and aguas frescas to cakes, cookies, muffins, scones, and a chocolate-strawberry doughnut noted for its ideal moist consistency and restrained sweetness; the doughnut pairs particularly well with a basic cup of coffee, and staff who know regulars are happy to recommend treats like the doughnut or the coffee cake." - Eater Staff

I love coming here and have been doing so for a long time. They are the best early food in the area. Food is fresh, service is knowledgeable and friendly, and I always feel welcome every time I'm here. Sometimes I like to change it up and ask to customize some things, and some combinations will have to be paid extra, but the quality is always there and the care in creating the food and drink is amazing. Coffee is fresh and not bitter, fresh juices are lovely! They do cakes, pastries, sandwiches and burritos, amazing Mexican and bakery fare. Very vegetarian friendly 10/10.

Google
First time in Miracle Bakery today, certainly won't be my last. Ordered their English muffin egg sandwich, a coffee, and a cheddar biscuit. One of the better biscuits I had in a long time. Egg sandwich was simple: lettuce, tomato, bacon, touch of mayo, cheddar, and a nice (unexpected) runny over easy egg. Their cake case looked fantastic, and they had some tasty looking donuts out. Will be back to try some more of their baked goods!

Not enough people preach about this place. It’s a beautiful locally owned cafe and bakery that has everything you could want. Amazing breakfast burritos, damn good coffee, devilishly good scones and donuts, and a great service and atmosphere. The people that work here make you feel welcome and graciously craft whatever you desire. Not to mention there’s indoor and outdoor seating that every restaurant in SoCal could learn a thing or two from about decor and a pleasant environment. Go here as soon as you can!

Google
Super nice staff/owners and amazing food. I got the sausage breakfast burrito and added pico de gallo. It was sooo flavorful! I also got an iced cafe de olla, which was a bit too sweet for me, but I just added water, and it was perfect. I only discovered this place because I was on the hunt for an Italian rum cake the week prior. The cake was beautifully made and my friend, the birthday girl, loved it! I will definitely be back to try their other foods and drinks!

Google
So delicious! My family and I came across this place by luck (we are visitors from out of state) super welcoming and friendly people, food is made fresh, we had a large party so we knew it was going to take some time for our fresh meals to be prepared. Patio area is nice and breezy. Drinks were on point too, you must try the traditional Mexican dish, Chilaquiles. We got both red and green style and both were delicious to the palette.

Google
You must get one of the donuts!!! All the flavors are delish, but I love the chocolate strawberry, lavender, and churro. Gluten free too. I also love the burrito with sausage. Good food, good service. Love this place !

Google
Pastries here are amazing! So was the food and coffee! I don't live in the area I was visiting from out of town and needed a breakfast spot that opened early and offered vegan options for my friend. This place did not disappoint!

Google
This is my kind of place. I did a search for good coffee and pastries nearby to my hotel's location. I went there early one morning and was welcomed by the people and the atmosphere of the place. It's right on the corner of intersecting roads, which gives it a nice view from inside the building. It's run by a husband and wife team and the food was fresh and tasty. The coffee was also hot and flavorful. On my first visit, I just got coffee and a chocolate croissant (nicely sized). After that, I knew I needed to return before I flew back to Austin. On my second visit I tried their breakfast quesadilla with sausage (yummy!) and an orange and cranberry scone. I think they cook their food onsite, as they have a decent sized kitchen behind the counter, and it certainly tasted fresh. Next time I'm in Burbank, I will be returning. Support this great local business.

Yelp
Heard about this spot on the Bad Friends podcast. It didn't disappoint. Got the chorizo burrito, the matcha doughnut, the scone, and the chilechilles. All were great. Coffee was great too. Everyone seemed very kind. Loved the music and the vibe of the place. Very clean. Will return forsure.

Yelp
Came here last weekend to try their lunch menu menu for the first time. Service as usual was great. I was also grateful there was some solid vegan option (fajita vegan bowl) that was both delicious and had enough protein! Donut and cafe de olla are on point. Highly recommend. Last note - weekends are busier so it is possible that you may have to wait for table (indoor / outdoor) for a moment depending in time.

Yelp
I wish I would've found this place sooner than the last day I was in Ca. Loved loved loved this quaint little place. Very friendly. Very authentic. Very tasty! My daughter and I ordered lattes with breakfast burritos. She with sausage and I with bacon. If anyone knows me they know that when it comes to cooking. I like to have a balance of flavors and food. This was just that!! My daughters dad order the scrambles eggs with refried beans and yellow rice. He loved it. He also got a cafe de olla which was also delicious and he got a refill! This is going to be our go to every time!!

Yelp
Had a hankering for chilaquiles and a quick search led me here, and boy am I grateful. Ordered the loaded chilaquiles with barbacoa and from the first bite I couldn't stop devouring the plate. It's a large portion for my dining partner I shared but reluctantly ha! The chilaquiles were layered and balanced - the red sauce wasn't overpowering, the beans which I typically decline were a nice texture addition. Rounded out the meal with an unsweetened ginger peach tea; churro donut and strawberry fancier. As someone who does not prefer churros I ate the churro donut in one sitting, light and dense at the same time, the right proportion of sweetness and delicate - this was clearly baked with love. We were greeted upon entry, and I'm excited to return to try their other delicious options.

Yelp
We were on our way to a different cafe when we passed by this bakery and decided to try this instead--and I am glad we did! We ordered two iced cortados, banana bread, and pupusas for snacks. Everything was good! The banana bread was not very sweet, but it was soft and moist! The pupusas were savory and salty enough. The cortado was strong and also creamy! I hope to come back to try other pastries and food. 5/5 I recommend this place!
google avatar

Yelp
Food is spectacular. Chilaquiles were light but so filling. Just the right amount of spicy. Donuts were flavorful and a great texture. Also ordered a ginger peach iced tea - drank it all before I got a picture but it was delightful. Staff are so friendly and fun to talk with. Some seating inside and outside. Cute lil shop overall. Definitely recommend if you're in the area.

Yelp
a small, lovely cafe experience! i found this place on tiktok while looking for a good chilaquiles spot, and they did not disappoint! we tried both the rojo and verde salsas and were very happy with both of them, so i don't think you can go wrong! we ordered the chilaquiles loaded, and i was so happy that they offered soyrizo or tofu as vegetarian options :) the soyrizo was a perfect addition! portions are pretty big, so we ended up having a snack for later. their bakery items all looked delicious! we opted for a chocolate croissant, and it was nice and flakey, just as you would expect! we also ordered a mocha, and were satisfied by the quality of the coffee. lastly, the staff was very nice. for a small place, they made sure to keep the tables bussed and ready for the next customer and we felt very welcomed upon entering. there is both outside and indoor seating available! would definitely come back for the chilaquiles :)

Yelp
Cute corner restaurant. The servers were nice but everything else was quite meh. I ordered an over medium egg with my meal, and it came out watery and overly runny. The cafe de olla was not great, especially when compared to Cafe de Olla in Burbank. The rose donut was pretty, however that was all that was good about it. It was very sweet and bready - the texture was more of a soft bread rather than a donut.

Yelp
Best barbacoa and agua frescas in Burbank--hands down! The meat is incredibly juicy, tender, and full of flavor. Everything this bakery makes reflects care, love, and high-quality ingredients. I'm holding off on a full five stars because I called ahead for a slice of the vanilla confetti cake, was told it was available, but later got a call saying someone had purchased the whole cake. I appreciated the courtesy call to offer a substitute, but it was a little disappointing. Also, it's not always easy to ask for a to-go container when there's only one person working the front--totally understandable with staffing, but it would help to have some set out like most places do. That said, the atmosphere is always bright and welcoming thanks to the natural sunlight, which I really enjoy. Still a spot I'll keep coming back to!

Yelp
They don't call this place miracle bakery for nothing. Great tasting lattes . Try their breakfast tacos with nopales. A rare find in town.

Yelp
Found this place on Yelp, and decided to try. I got the green salsa chilaquiles ($13.50), and it comes with a good portion. The cafe is small, and doesn't have public restrooms but does have plenty of parking. Chilaquiles must be the most popular thing because everyone inside was ordering the same thing.

Yelp
Absolutely incredible breakfast burrito with avocado =]] made me smile with every bite. The bacon hit the spot. I also had a vanilla latte hot and it was so yummmmmmmmie. The fresh baked goods kept coming out from the back and it couldn't resist not buying two. I ate one and saving the other one for tomorrow for my breakfast a day later so only time will tell if the flavor will last. I also bought a $20 gift card to bless someone with. I think when you eat a good meal it's always fun to introduce others. I've been here before except the other times I ordered the French toast.

Yelp
Stopped by for a quick snack before watching my nephew's game close by. Located in a small strip mall with limited parking, street parking available. Didn't have time to order their breakfast items but snooping around people's plates, they looked really good. We got pastries and coffee. Their scones & cheddar biscuits are delicious. So are their muffins and croissants. Cute little bakery with a small dining area inside. Friendly workers. Great service.

Yelp
I've been coming here since they opened 7 years ago and while it's still a great spot to eat, it's a shame they've moved away from some of their best baked goods like their cakes. They've renovated a lot, which has increased the amount of space available for patrons, and redecorated so the space feels more modern. One thing I wish they'd kept was their mural of owls and iconic Burbank landmarks like the airport and studio lots. To be clear, while it's sad they've changed so much, their service and food is still outstanding. This is a small business owned by a local family that has poured their heart into the space and Martin is extremely hospitable to all customers. You can sometimes catch him singing Frank Sinatra while making coffee. Their baked goods are always fresh and well balanced, so you're not sucker punched with too much sweetness. The chilaquiles are a MUST HAVE for breakfast and they recently expanded their hours to include Thursday and Friday night dinner, so I'm curious to see what new items they add to the menu.

Yelp
The jazz music is so calming and comforting on a rainy day. Everybody who works here is super friendly and it's very welcoming. My Shrimp burrito was delicious. Seems like an obscure ítem but they did it just right- shrimp cooked just right, fresh spanish rice, a little cabbage and avocado cream. Avocado cream was mostly guac w a touch of mayo... just delicious. This place is a hidden gem for breakfast and lunch. There's some bar seating and a couple little tables. Perfect little get away from work or nice place to bring your laptop as well. Lots of parking as well.

Yelp
I'd get breakfast here every morning if I could!! the scallion scone was to DIE FOR. I was so happy the staff offered to warm it up for me and offer some butter with it. Everyone here is so friendly, and the latte is perfectly balanced. Love the speed of service and indoor / outdoor seating offered! Truly such a gem and happy my boyfriend and I could enjoy a quiet and delicious brunch on a Saturday morning.

Yelp
One of my favorite breakfast restaurants in Burbank. Usually very busy on the weekends, but the service is great. Their indoor seating is pretty limited but they have outdoor seating as well. Food is very good as well, although I'm very consistent with what I order, " the French toast platter". Comfortable area to dine in.

Yelp
0/5 = SPIT IT OUT 1/5 = one bite is enough 2/5 = two bites is enough 3/5 = decent 3.5/5 = decent but tastier 4/5 = so good 4.5 = almost 5/5 good 5/5 = LADY GAGA (inspired by her interview meme "talented, brilliant, incredible, amazing, show stopping, spectacular, never the same, totally unique, completely not ever been done before.") After Sweetsalt, it was onto the next bakery in Burbank and I saw top recommendations for Miracle Bakery, all the way from Reddit as well. I am sad to inform you that I did not become a fan and would not return. As always, we order a bit of everything so we have a total of 8 items. 1) blueberry muffin - The sugar crystals on top are a nice touch and there's an alive blueberry flavor but it is very dry. The only good part was the muffin top. 1/5 2) cheese danish - One of the 3 items out of 8 that pass. Nice, fluffy texture with sweet cheese. One critique would be more cheese filling because too much bread. 4/5 3) banana bread - This has a nice crust with nutella swirled on the top. The second of the 3 items out of 8 that pass. Nothing too special but it was tasty. I would have preferred a more softer texture to the bread but it was not dry or rough. 3/5 4) chocolate chip cookie - decent but the outer layer was a bit stale. 3/5 5) Budin - This is the biggest disappointment of all 8. This budin tasted like absolutely nothing. I couldn't even taste straight up sugar. It was the blandest budin and dessert I have ever tasted. I was so confused. Making budin 2 times, I still haven't conquered the right texture but the flavor was still there so I was taken aback how there was no taste to this. 1/5 6-8) cakes Birthday white cake: I noticed their cake textures are similar to tres leches but it doesn't work on all kinds of cakes. It didn't work with this vanilla cake. The frosting was also bland. 1/5 Chocolate cake: Another with tres leches texture and not the best chocolate flavor. 2/5 Oreo cheesecake: The final item of 3 out of 8 that is saved. A really nice oreo flavor and great cream cheese texture. Super yummy! If I had to pick a winner, this one is it! 4.5/5

Yelp
Everyone here is so nice and the food is great! You can tell they have a lot regular customers. My favorites are the cold brew and the breakfast quesadilla. They make a cafe de olla simple syrup so you can add it to whatever coffee drink you prefer. They also regularly have cake donuts that are absolutely delicious.

Yelp
Love this place. It's really cute and cozy. Food is yummy. Coffee/lattes are great. Service is amazing. You won't regret coming here

Yelp
I love this place because , good environment and they have delicious food. My favorite breakfast is crunchy French toast with cream

Yelp
This is my favorite breakfast place in the Valley! I look forward to coming here after a good hike in the Burbank hills. I am a scone expert, so I'm always looking for the best one in town. Their scones are near the top -flavorful and crunchy. They have an amazing almond croissant -on the big side too! Then there's the coffee -their drip is quite good. They actually give refills, so I can get my second cup to-go! Check it out -muey bien!

Yelp
what a lovely mini cafe that i came across while i was in the burbank area. the plaza has good enough parking which is nice. as i walked in, i was immediately greeted by a gentleman who was nice and welcoming. they have outdoor seating which is relaxing especially when the weather is nice and the sun is shinninnn! i had ordered myself the loaded chilaquiles and wooooooow! when they say loaded they mean it! my bowl was full of yummy goodness! one of the best chilaquiles I've tried. thaankyouu to the hispanic lady who made my food. my lunch was absolutely enjoyable. i also ordered myself a matcha vanilla latte and it was absolutely delicious. i love that it did not taste like powder down matcha. i will most definitely be returning to this cafe and try out their other stuff on their menu!

Yelp
Nustled in a quaint Burbank neighborhood and next to a hotel comes Miracle bakery. I found it by looking on yelp before my girlfriend and I went to #horrornights and we knew the next morning we would need a yummy breakfast with ideally some locally pastries of Mexican heritage. Since our hotel was 5 feet away...we walked in...Love and homemade warmth comes from this cozy little cafe. A barista from the bay with a smile, a host with the most, this team makes you feel Welcomed. The pastries were homemade and yummy and many folks came in for the food! Also, the Cafe De Olla latte was so good my girl ordered 2 of them OMG! Gracias and see y'all next visit!

Yelp
Amazing food and service. Cozy little cafe :) Pastries were superior and the cafe de olla was a favorite!
google avatar

Yelp
Service was very friendly. Small little place with outdoor seating that's dog friendly. We got the Cheese puff Chocolate croissant Cafe de ola latte w almond milk Loaded chilaquiles with Al pastor All amazing. I would check to make sure which sauce you want - the red or the green on the chilaquiles, Some bits of the chilaquiles were a little spicy. Definitely would go back.
google avatar

Michael R.

Yelp
This place is INCREDIBLE. Dynamite chilaquiles. FANTASTIC carne asada torta. Hot pie and ice cream that you WILL NOT forget. Nice people! My only reservation for rating this place 5 stars is more people finding this place and it getting too crowded- its the best!
google avatar

Robert C.

Yelp
I ordered the chilaquiles with green sauce. This place is the best I've tried, very delicious. The sauces were very good, service was great, lots to choose from. Amazing place a must try

Yelp
The ambiance, food, and people are amazing. Employees are friendly and spark up conversation as if you known them for years. Starting with the flavorful cup of coffee paired with a delicious pastry to the amazing food it's always worth the 82 mile drive

Yelp
I feel like this place is such a hidden gem. The food, drinks, and service are always really good. I should really spend more time here. It's also walkable from my apartment. Very convenient spot on San Fernando Blvd. They have Mexican breakfast and it's goooood. I had the huevos rancheros last time and it was so delicious and filling. Comes with red and green sauce. Also they have vegan donuts, which is awesome. I like the lavender ones. Coffee is great here. And I recently tried their matcha latte which has become my go-to drink. I have to say, I think it was one of the best ones I've had. Not super sweet like Starbucks. You can actually taste the bitterness of the matcha come through. So I'm guessing they use a higher quality matcha. I saw the guy using a whisk, so it seems like the case. Love this place. And I think i'll go walk over there now actually. :)
google avatar

Veronica C.

Yelp
Great customer service, really good food. Regular coffee is too small and no refill. The Only thing they don't have is enough space for customer to sit more comfortably. No restrooms, over pricing for the quality of the food and the area.
google avatar

Porter W.

Yelp
It's truly my favorite in the area, everything I have had from her has been incredible. The workers are all the best, basically will be the same every time you go. Pastries made in house. Good Coffee. It's pricey, but it is worth the price.

Guy G.

Yelp
The best of the best! Excellent breakfast menu with delicious pastries as well.. Friendly staff and exceptional service .. Sparking clean Outdoor seating too.. We'll be back again!

Yelp
This place is a must for any chilaquiles fans. The loaded chilaquiles was the best, dare I say it?, from our greater city! We got the asada chilaquiles with green salsa- the meat was so flavorful and tender and the salsa so tangy. It was enormous and big enough to make two meals out of it. We loved it so much we got an extra order to go for our kid's lunch. Seriously take my word for it- IT'S THAT GOOD We also tried the chorizo con papas burrito upon JT's rec. It too was tasty, seasoned right, and not greasy like so many places that serve chorizo. The cafe de olla was pretty good, too. Extra tip: According to JT, you must try the banana loaf which they ran out of. Hey, it'll give us an excuse to come back and try. We will gladly tell others about this gem!
google avatar

Pranav G.

Yelp
This is exactly the kind of bakery/cafe that I look for - warm, family-style service, not pretentious, great food in a low key but classy ambiance. I am here for breakfast and ordered their breakfast plate and a hot Americano. Everything was on point. I sat outside and even though their outside seating is next to a road, they've done a super job creating a nice ambiance. Well done. I will come again!

Abby R.

Yelp
I've been a loyal customer of Miracle Bakery since 2020. It doesn't matter what kind of day I'm having, but after enjoying a meal here, I always leave in better spirits. My husband and I are big fans of the Financiers, we even ordered a large order for our wedding reception. Through the years, we've tried their chilaquiles, breakfast sandwich, breakfast specials, lattes, cafe de olla, tacos, tortas and everything in between. We're always served with so much care and attention that it's hard not to come every day. Recently they have expanded to have a dinner menu and it has also not disappointed. Try their pupusas! This review is long overdue, especially since Martin and his team pour their hearts out for every customer every time - you're sure to find him chatting with his customers and don't be surprised if he remembers your name and asks how you've been if you become a regular.

Yelp
Come for the vegan gluten free doughnuts, stay for the tacos. These days you can find Mexican food anywhere...to find the really good stuff, you don't necessarily have to go far, you just gotta dig a little deeper in your community. Sometimes they'll be in a food truck or a card table outside a dry cleaners or even the stop n shop of a gas station. So when we needed gluten free doughnuts during the pandemic, we never expected to also get some of the best Mexican food in Burbank. Miracle Bakery lives up to its name by serving a lot of good, quality baked goods. There's scones and cookies and muffins galore...all baked in house and they have various flavors and varieties. Then you keep scrolling down the menu and find out they sell breakfast foods too and a full lunch menu with tacos, burritos, and tortas. We only meant to order some baked goods for our vegan and gluten free friend, but how could we pass up a chance to also have crunchy french toast and a chorizo con papas breakfast burrito? The crunchy french toast is their freshly made challah, dipped in egg, and coated with corn flakes. Even delivered, this thing stays nice and crispy. It's topped with berries and a cream sauce that brings everything together. If I had one complaint, the bread doesn't really soak up a lot of custard so the inside isn't as eggy and creamy as I'd like, but the challah bread they make is pretty good as is. Then there's the breakfast burrito, which on first bite, launched itself in the upper echelon of Burbank breakfast burritos. The chorizo is so well seasoned, crumbled, and slightly spicy...the square country potatoes are tender...along with the eggs and cheese, it ends up into this wonderful tube of deliciousness. Adding their green salsa to it just brings it up to another level, both in heat and the right zest and brightness to balance out the spice. In subsequent visits, we tried other things like the nopales burrito (great option for vegetarians) and the al pastor tacos. It's all good and stands up to any taqueria in town. Even if you hate baked goods, come for the amazing breakfast and lunches they offer. Easily some of the best food in town.

Yelp
The scones today looked amazing ... drooling ... didn't get any cause I'm watching my sugar intake. Lol .... But the cold brew always hits the spot. Love their food love their baked goods love their coffee love their customer service. ....

Yelp
I love this place. My family and I have been coming here for over a year, and the food and coffee never disappoint us. The service is always so good, and you can tell the staff are hardworking people. I love their little outside seating, and this place is always welcoming. If you're looking for a good breakfast or brunch, come here.

Julie V.

Yelp
Supe cafe style bakery. Food is amazing! Love their chilaquiles with asada! Im a green chilaquil girl but their red ones are also sooooo good!! Breakfast burritos are also very good! My go to is their breakfast tacos de nopal con huevo y queso. Their cafe de olla latte is my favorite drink and you can't go wrong with their freshly baked pastries. You can call ahead of time or order online and they are always punctual! Customer service is a 10/10
google avatar

Yelp
Lovely little spot! Super friendly service, good cold brew AND they serve chilaquiles.
google avatar

Curtis I.

Yelp
Food is really good here, got the burrito con papas? And the chorizo breakfast, good food, fresh, made to order, took a bit to get the food, but overall good service, nice place inside, few small tables and counter to eat and chill, definitely gonna come back and try some other things on the menu.

Yelp
Such a cute, welcoming space - you can feel the pride and love for providing great service and amazing food. Hands down best thing: French toast - don't forget the get the vanilla cream to go with it! Their bacon and over easy eggs are cooked perfectly. We all loved our food. From the breakfast sandwich to the chicken and waffles. Treat yourself to a matcha latte & cortadito - absolutely bangin

Yelp
Hands down best Gluten Free Dairy Free Donuts! So grateful to have delicious options for my food allergies. The owners are amazing too! If you're in the area you must check it out

Dorian W.

Yelp
Miracle Bakery is like walking into your favorite cousin's house during a birthday party. You feel at home the moment you walk in and you know you will eat good while you're there too. The owners take time to make sure EACH person feels welcome and offers exceptional service that I have only ever seen offered at high level businesses like a Nordstrom. There is music and laughter in the background each day I go and MOST of the people say "see you tomorrow" when they walk out of this place. YES, the food is 10/10 without a doubt. However, who WOULDN'T want to support a place that show genuine LOVE to soooo many people?

Monica R.

Yelp
My husband came today and had a negative experience trying to get us coffees. The lady was super rude and she forgot to add his flavor to the latte. For the price it is off putting. Hoping it's just a fluke. I like the shrimp burritos. The chilaquiles seem to be popular and are ok.
