"The original Miriam is in Park Slope, and if you walk by on a weekend afternoon, you’ll see a line of people out the door. The Upper West Side location of this Israeli restaurant is also a zoo at brunch, but you should still stop by for silky hummus, top-notch shakshuka, and dense, flaky burekas. Miriam is open for dinner, too, and it’s a great option for a casual night out that still feels relatively nice. The space has big windows and some leafy vines scattered throughout, and there’s a bar in the back in case you want to dine solo." - bryan kim, willa moore, will hartman, sonal shah
"All the expect brunch-ers agree: Mirriam hands down is a must-try, or rather, must-try-every-weekend sort of place. Conveniently located right off the 5th ave, close to Barclay’s center, yet far enough from the constant traffic of Flatbush ave. The Mediterranean decor is in it’s full glory - lamps with intricate metal work and multicolor glass, beautifully arranged flowers at the entrance and a large family-style table, which looks particularly inviting on summer afternoons, when the windows are wide open and sun beautifully lits up the space. The menu has a lot of brunch options, and of course, Israeli ones too - Israeli breakfast, labneh cheese, fried dough, burekas. Great food made this restaurant a local favorite, so do expect lines, or come at odd times." - Anna Griniuk

"None of us will probably ever be as healthy as the Whole Foods-only-diet babies of Park Slope. But if you’re in the area and want to compete with them, get some Israeli mezze plates or some fish at Miriam. It’s walk-in only and gets way more crowded at brunch than it does at dinner. So come with a friend or a date, sit at one of the hightops, and split some roasted cauliflower and hummus." - hannah albertine, bryan kim, will hartman, neha talreja, willa moore, sonal shah
"Say hi to the holy grail of Park Slope brunch, with all the rustic wood details and globe lighting fixtures of a Pinterest-perfect restaurant. Whether you're looking for your usual french toast and benedicts, or you’re bored of all that and want something next-level, Miriam is here for you. This Israeli spot makes some truly excellent Mediterranean dishes (get the burekas), and the environment is homey but still lively. For those who want to party, get a pitcher or three of sangria." - willa moore, neha talreja, will hartman
"Miriam is the holy grail of Park Slope brunch. From shakshuka and cheese bourekas to french toast and eggs benedict, this Israeli spot makes some of the best breakfast dishes in the neighborhood, and you can enjoy them all in the company of a large sangria pitcher. Miriam’s curbside patio sits in the shadows of brownstones on Prospect Place, and if you stop by for a weeknight dinner this summer, you’ll probably find a live jazz band performing." - nikko duren
