Housed in one of the arches next to the Fatih Mosque on Rozengracht, Mirinda is a small, charming Moroccan snackbar with an outside terrace.
The name "Mirinda" is an appropriate one; It originates from the Latin verb "miror," meaning "to admire." Mirinda means "worthy of admiration."
Besides serving Moroccan and English breakfast, the speciality of the house is Msemmen, delicious sweet and savoury wraps, made with a traditional Maghreb flatbread, commonly found throughout North Africa.
Savoury versions come with roasted vegetables, meat, chicken, or merguez lamb sausages, optionally served with harrisa, a hot spicy chilli pepper sauce. Everything is prepared in open view on a grill behind the counter. Sweet versions come with the dreaded Nutella, honey or honey and feta cheese, recommended with a topping of crushed almonds. Fresh mint tea is the perfect accompaniment.
Prices are very reasonable. The 'admirable' wraps can be eaten on the premises or taken away for later consumption.
