The Best Korean Restaurants in Minneapolis and St. Paul | Eater Twin Cities

"A second-generation family restaurant on Snelling, Mirror of Korea has one of the most extensive menus in town. For an easy way to navigate the wealth of choices, pick from the chef specials — a curated selection ranging from familiar classics like mandu, stuffed with vegetables and pan-fried to a burnished bronze on both sides; to more specialty items like gopchang-jeongol — tripe broiled until tender in a spicy broth and prepared tableside. In the summer, nothing is better than their bibim-naengmyun, buckwheat noodles tossed in vinegary pepper paste and served ice-cold with slivers of fresh and pickled vegetables." - Julie Yu

Assorted side dishes (Banchan) of kimchi, potato, bean sprout, radishes, or cucumber, just to make a few, are complimentary. You may ask for a “refill” if you are polite. 😁 They are served as appetizers in a Korean meal. Once your taste buds are open, feel free to proceed with soup, stew, grilled meat, stir fry and various items on the menu. Ask for clarifications if you have questions. Everything is delicious there. Budget about $20 per person. Order dishes to share (family style) in a group. You will be delighted you try.

If I could give this place 6 stars, I would. Excellent food and fast service, and they play K-pop music videos non-stop. My husband and I come here for date nights and special occasions. The price for volume/quality of food is fantastic. I want more people to come here, it's a gem!

Great Korean Restaurant located few blinks north of U Ave. The waiting staff is fantastic. Sometimes they can get very busy and service can be a little slower. You’ll find here some favorite Korean dishes including the raw beef, spare ribs or iron pot soups. Then you got to try Dolsot Bibimbap that rice on the bottom get very crispy. The Beef Bulgogi always is king but you can get the pork belly or even the pork that’s cooked in a spicy sauce 😎

(Gina) I stopped by today. I'm Korean and don't usually eat out at Korean restaurants because my mom is such a good cook but it's been so Hot (90's) she didn't want to use the oven and needed a break. All the food and banchan's were so so good! They gave way more food than I thought they would. The service was wonderful! The price was good also. I had tried this place a few years ago once and did not like it much but I totally change my mind now! My mom even said that she wants to come back here and that everything was good! My mom is a hard Korean critic with Korean food. We both enjoyed our meals and will be coming back! Thank you again for the great service!

My friends and I ordered Combo meal with spicy cold noodles and galbi Seafood pancake Spicy pork bulgogi I liked everything! The galbi was seasoned very well and juicy, and the cold noodles were very refreshing. The combo meal is so worth the price because of all the delicious food you’re getting. The seafood pancake had a good amount of toppings, and was crispy and a little fluffy. And the spicy pork bulgogi was well seasoned and tender. It was a bit too salty for me though, so I ate it with more radish. I think I’d love it more if it had less salt. Overall, I’m really glad I tried the food here. It’s affordable and authentic! I 100% am coming back to try the lunch specials, the soup, the bibimbap, and the galbi tang.

My wife and I went for lunch on a Thursday. Only one other couple in the restaurant and then a few other people showed up while we were there. We ordered from the lunch menu. We had Bibimbop and SoonDuBu Chigae. The former was the classic form I've had before and it was very tasty and savory. The tofu seafood do was light with a slight spice in his to it. A gentle salty seafood broth. It came with a few kimchi and rice. The server was attentive and professional. This restaurant has been here for decades and has always been known for authentic Korean dishes. I haven't been to Korea for 30 years, but remember the food fondly! It's important that we visit these quality restaurants so that they can remain open and we can continue to enjoy high quality international cuisine in the Twin Cities

Google
Amazing food and service. Around noon, they aren't that busy at all and even though their was only one server, he was attentive and kind. The tteokbokki was delicious and so was the side dishes. My party ordered the grilled mackerel and chef special #8 spicy chicken and they both were delectable. The fish was full of flavor, flaky and juicy while maintaining a moderate crispy skin. The chilled spicy noodle was of the same pleasent caliber. The portions were great for the price. There were no bad dishes.

Google
Have been meaning to try this place for years. So glad my friend suggested it. I had an amazing beef stir fry. The server was friendly, and made helpful menu suggestions. Dining room was clean. The only minus to this restaurant was the bathroom...while it seemed clean, it was small and dark and felt old. But don't let that stop you from eating there.

Yelp
I was on a business trip in the area and wanted something different to eat. Well what does that mean "different?" Well it's something I can't find at home and something that I don't traditionally eat. So Mirror of Korea fit the bill. I made the trek from Eden Prairie to St. Paul for Mirror of Korea. I had some time to kill before my business meeting and me and the boss stopped here for lunch. The restaurant is located in what I'd say is an eclectic part of town right across the street from a college. We arrive to the restaurant and its like stepping back into the 80's and early 90's. The decor hasn't been updated in over a decade and you can take this one of two ways. Either the food is going to be phenomenal or down right terrible and I hope it's the first one because I recommended this place to my boss! We get sat and handed a menu and I went with the Kalbi Bento Box and my boss went with the spicy chicken bulgogi bento box. And then we waited. In no time the food arrived in cool bento boxes. I went first for the fried dumpling and that was pleasurable. The salad and dicon was delicious as well. But how was the Kalbi? Honestly for the price and what you all get, it was good. Not the best in the world and certainly not the worst in the world. It was just good. What you're getting when you sit down and eat at Mirror of Korea is just a good meal in itself. What else can one ask for? My boss said the spicy chicken bulgogi was outstanding and he was pleased with his meal. Mirror of Korea is a cool korean joint and I hope they don't change a thing. They provide good korean food at a reasonable price.

Yelp
Food: good Service: good Ambiance: I like the amount of seating and feeling of being in a family-owned restaurant. Yelp
Small, corner restaurant with street parking. Service was attentive even though they were a bit stretched. Tried a few different lunch items, all of it was cooked fairly well and had a reasonable flavor. The short rib lunch combo included a lot of small little accompaniments, but everything sort of just landed a bit flat. Nothing quite "great" but definitely not too bad either. If you're looking for something a bit off the beaten path, love kimchi, and are seeking some Asian cuisine, this will likely meet those expectations even if it doesn't wow you!

Yelp
Small and narrow corner spot. There's some parking on the street. It's a quiet and assuming place. Very laid back and quiet inside, which isn't a bad thing. We ordered the #47 Dakbokeum (spicy stir fried chicken), kimchi jeon, less pork and Kimbap meal (comes with two rolls) less beef and #48 tteokbokeum and two hot teas too. $63.43 The tea is barley tea, not a strong flavor. It's okay. The waiter is bussing the tables, taking orders, bringing out the food and cashing out folks too. He's busy. Service was good. The kimchi pancake wasn't too bad. The rice cake and spicy chicken and the Kimbap were all just okay, not impressed or special for either us and not exactly what we were hoping for either. The food was just so-so. Not worth return for any part of the meal though. The banchans were small and tasted okay. The corn tea gets a bit more flavorful at the bottom of the pot.

Yelp
Very solid and reasonably priced Korean food. The chilled noodles and Korean pancake appetizer were particularly inspired. The waitstaff were attentive and filled our water glasses multiple times, which was greatly appreciated!

Yelp
Usually our go to spot. We left last week because there was a hair in our drink. It was just an accident.

Yelp
Incredible food and service. We have eaten here regularly and highly recommend their Kim Bop, kimchi rice, Golgabi (mackerel with red pepper sauce), Japchae and Haemul-pajeon (seafood pancake). Honestly, anything here won't go wrong. Their variety of soups such as Sundubu Jigae (spicy tofu soup) or soup with green onions and oxtail if you are not into spicy food. Service is prompt and courteous and they know us so well that they adapt our specifications without asking and always bring us hot tea (green and ginseng are great.)
google avatar

Kristopher S.

Yelp
Food was really good! Had the stir fry kimchi with pork the portion was reasonably sized and well seasoned! Prices were also very reasonable. Service was excellent, water was always filled and the food came out hot from the kitchen.

Yelp
Authentic Korean food. They have been here forever and the food is not Americanized as I like to say. It is real Korean food with real Korean flavor.

Yelp
Mirror of Korea is serving up authentic Korean food. I love their kimchi soup because it always comes out hot and is packed full of tofu, meat and kimchi. My kids love the lunch bento box and it's a great deal. The dol sot bep bim bop (hot stone) aways comes out perfect with a layer of the crispy rice. The servers are friendly. The atmosphere is simple and cozy. It's a great spot to meet for lunch or have a hearty dinner. They have lots of vegetarian options and a variety of meat and seafood options. It's a great option for families and they are set up to take big groups.

Yelp
Mirror of Korea serves great food, though a bit pricey for the portion sizes. The staff is nice, but the environment could be cooler. Overall, a good dining experience.

Yelp
I always love coming to this restaurant, really fast service and the food is always delicious. One of my favorite Korean restaurants in the cities so I highly recommend.

Yelp
What a MISERABLE experience! At first I thought I had finally found a place that would deliver _vegetarian_ soon tofu (on this menu: Tofu Chi Gae) to my house. So, if you're following: We're looking for a spicy soft tofu stew, with NO MEAT in it, brought to my house. I also ordered some kimchi pancakes (kimchi jeon) & vegetarian dumplings (man du twee gim). Granted, a lot of Korean food isn't typically vegetarian, but they've got this "Make it vegetarian!" radio button to tap that gives you the impression they've got this under control. SPOILER: They do not have this under control. I bit into a dumpling and thought... huh... this is some really weird TVP. I ate the dumpling. I started eating another... & the mouthfeel was all wrong. Upon closer inspection, the dumplings are full of some kind of meat. Great, there goes that. Next up, the kimchi pancakes. Greasy AF, but edible. Next up, that tofu stew I've been craving ever since I moved to the Twin Cities last year. I pour it into bowls... & first off, this isn't a soft tofu stew; it's more of a spicy soup broth with cut up slices of medium-firm tofu in it. The broth smells like meat stock, but I keep telling myself it's just the egg -- I really, *really* want some damn tofu stew. But one bite in, & what's this awful texture in my mouth? That's right, it's BOILED MEAT! I spit it out. Dinner = ruined. Adding insult to injury in this debacle is everything about dealing with Grubhub. I requested a text when the order was delivered -- but I got no text and no knock or doorbell ring, so my hot food sat on my cold, cold doorstep until I went to check because it had been a while. And then when I called Grubhub to be like, "Yo, can I have my ~$50 back?", they didn't want to comp the order; they only wanted to comp the two "not-actually-vegetarian vegetarian" items. WTF? I wouldn't have placed this order if I'd known I wasn't going to get the #%&!ing vegetarian tofu stew; I wouldn't have paid the service fee or the tax; I wouldn't have tipped 20%. Comping just the "vegetarian" items means I paid ~$30 for one kimchi pancake left on my 13-degrees-Fahrenheit doorstep. Yeah, no. (I had to press firmly & repeatedly, but I eventually got my full refund.) So, in summary: It wasn't a real soft tofu stew; it was, in fact, full of meat; & by "brought to my house," I mean it was dropped on my porch without anyone bothering to let me know. Definitely the last time I order from Mirror of Korea, and probably the last time I use Grubhub to try anyplace new.

Yelp
I've had good and bad experience here but overall I think it's more on the disappointing side. The service isn't super great or friendly- just mediocre, sometimes slow even when it's not busy. Korean food in general is pricey compared to other Asian restaurants but Mirrors is definitely more pricey then most it seems. The place and environment itself is pretty and they have a fair enough of seating- plus I always enjoy the Kpop songs/Kdrama playing from the tv. My biggest criticism is the lack of flavor and consistency in food. Btw all the "spicy" dishes are not spicy at all. The stews are plain and need more salt and the gal bi (Korean beef short ribs) are hit or miss- this time it was dry and chewy. I also think they are cheap with their banchan (complimentary side dishes). Yes- you can ask them to refill it but I'm had times where we asked and they charged extra and times where they didn't charge extra. Like many other people have said- I recommended double checking your bill and keeping your receipt as I had friends who noticed they were charged more than they should have been. I recommend checking out Sole Cafe which is a couple blocks away or Korea Restaurant at the U of M area for Korean food.

Yelp
I'm always happy to see Korean + Asian restaurants in the Twin Cities. I ordered takeout from here and was so surprised by the wide range of options on their menu. I love how they serve more traditional Korean foods, which I often crave and it is hard to find them in MN. Although this is not my favorite Korean spot, I just love being able to eat good quality Korean food. It was the price of the food for me (compared to other places) that knocked off one star, but otherwise, I can't wait to go back and try their seasonal and more traditional menu items. I tried the kimchi stew (which you can never go wrong with), and it was a solid meal.

Yelp
Excellent service & great authentic food! Dumplings were amazing, would recommend! Server was awesome and taught us the proper way to prepare the food. Also was quick to refill our waters as soon as we ran out.

Yelp
Had the Belogi and tofo chigae so filling. Was very busy but still came out in a timely manner. Nice gem in midway for Korean food.
google avatar

Cody S.

Yelp
Bibimbop 2 tbsp beef, over easy egg, 1 tbsp pickled cucumber, very little bok choy, etc. Toppings had decent flavor but quantity was severely lacking Solid Kim chi--nice spice, crunch and vinegar flavor
google avatar

Trina V.

Yelp
Super fast and friendly service and a good spot for Korean food if you don't want to make a trek onto UMN campus or St Paul. The Kimchi pancakes here could use a bit more Kimchi, but the soon dae gook was good and there was a good amount of banchan available. We went on a Tuesday night and it wasn't super busy and this location is in a shopping center so there is ample parking.

Yelp
We have been going to Mirror of Korea for many years. Even with a change in ownership it continues to fill our desire for delicious Korean food. It never disappoints.

Talia B.

Yelp
First time going here and I live literally 2.5 blocks away. Making this my second home during winter super affordable & good portions
google avatar

Yelp
Mirror of Korea is my go to restaurant. All of the staff are amazing and super polite, they leave you alone unless you call them over which is perfect when in the middle of a conversation. The food is delicious and they take care to avoid allergens. The chef is from Korea and makes some of the best authentic Korean food I've had. All of my Korean friends on visa go here as well since it tastes like home. My #1 go to on the menu is Man Du Twee Kim. If I'm having a bad day I'll pop in, if it's a special occasion I'll pop in, etc. It's become my comfort place and food. If you're ever wanting a good Korean dish with excellent service, this is the place!

Yelp
The food was amazing! The tiramisu was delicious! Food came out fast. Small home feel

Yelp
Dol sut bibimbap, absolutely wonderful. Five ban Chan, also very nice. And great friendly service from the owner. Very very happy I made the drive here from River Falls WI to try the place out.
google avatar

Kathy M.

Yelp
I wish I could give them a higher rating, but I was just so disappointed with the food. The service was great. There was only one waitstaff, but she was on top of things - even with a small rush she was attentive and remembered to check in regularly. The food however was a big disappointment. I ordered the Tofu Chigae (Jjigae) or soft tofu stew and was salivating while thinking how I would dive into the hot bowl of red, spicy and flavor-full stew. It came out sizzling - just the way I like it... but the flavor fell flat. I couldn't believe it. It was actually bland! Maybe they've overly Westernized the dish or something... all I know is that I was actually searching for salt and left unsatisfied :(
google avatar

Xia Y.

Yelp
Service was a bit slow but the host was very friendly. The food was okay, nothing phenomenal. The price is a lot higher compared to other places. The space is pretty tight but well clean.

Yelp
I used to be a big fan of this place when I had a friend who lived in the area circa 2015-2017. The bulgogi was succulent and with a hint of spice for 15.95. I would get it practically every week. Went back with a friend today hoping for the same meal. We both got the bulgogi for 17.95. It was actually just awful. Service was good. The meat was bland and tough. Between the two of us there was about 4 onions. We did enjoy the fluffy rice. Overall not worth the trip or any of your money. They got a new interior and menu. They have cut back on all their menu items but it seems like for the worse. They also redid their interior to look more westernized and getting rid of their large photo wall which gave so much character to this former gem.

Padraic M.

Yelp
As a long time frequent traveller to Korea, and host to many Korean visitors, this place is authentic and the food is great This is a simple family run place with good service. The dishes are excellent, and the assortment of side dishes (bansang) many and tasty. I particularly like their hot stone bowl dishes (bibimbap) and their bulgogi in any form! Mirror actually served this dish in an authentic super hot stone bowl. This is necessary to get the crispy rice to form in the bottom of the bowl. Yum! Fake Korean places like Bap&Chix cheap out on this, serving it in a plastic cup, their version is disgusting :-(

Yelp
When I am in town, I eat here at least once a month. I have been here over 100 or so times and I like their food, the consistency and the hospitality. 1. Food - good They make pretty much all Korean cuisine with less oil. That is what I like the most. Whether you get kalbi or chapchae, not only do they taste good, you would not see floating yellow oil around the edge of your food like you would get in Dong Yang. Much healthier and tastes better. 2. Price - decent Compared to say 7 years ago, portion has gotten smaller and price also increased, but come on so did inflation. It is only right they up their price too. Its price is totally comparable to other joints. 3. Location I like their location because it is convenient for me and I also like the fact that they are located close to the Korean grocery store, Kim's oriental. Street parking is amply available. 4. No smell One of the Very important thing for me to enjoy a particular restaurant is that I won't be stinking when I leave the place. Unlike almost ALL other korean restaurants in town, you will not need to worry about smelling bad here. They have good ventilation and kitchen isn't leaking bad smell to the dining area. HUGE PLUS. 5. Service - good Depending on the day and time you arrive and which part time worker happens to be serving you, one may or may not necessarily love their service. The actual owners are nice and at this point, I am practically their family. I do believe they will actually report me missing to the police if I didn't come in for a month especially if I didn't tell them I was going out of town. They care. 6. Ambience You can definitely have a nice homey dinner date here. They won't bug you and will feed you well. However, do not ever overstay their closing time. They are really not good at it unlike American joints. All in all, great smallish restaurant with years of history and good food and decent price and better cooking techniques which won't help elevate your cholesterol.

Yelp
Great flavors, I did really like my Fish Stew, we came here for lunch and service was very good, they are friendly and all we have was great. The prices are little bit high but ok u still can afford it. I would love to see different decorations because the place out and inside looks boring.
google avatar

Shoua Y.

Yelp
Lunch specials are very good price. My husband and I both ordered the lunch special bento box. It came with rice, spinach salad, korean egg rolls, dumplings, soup, and your choice of meat dish; I choose the spicy pork bulgogi. It was very delicious. All of those varieties for the price of $8.95. Can't beat that. Food came out quick. Waitress was knowledgeable and friendly. The only thing was that she didn't refill our water or refill our side dishes. Definitely go during lunch hours which is from open til 2:30pm only.

Yelp
I've adjusted my hopes for korean food here in minnesota. Mirror of korea is a place I have been frequenting more often because it's simple, to the point and pretty good. The place is clean and their banchan(small side dishes) is pretty good. I always get their seafood pancake and their bibimbop. The price can be a bit expensive ($13 average for an entree). However, you get good quality korean food. I think it's even a nice place for a quiet little date, it's not too noisy and cozy enough.
google avatar

Louise B.

Yelp
Great food, fast service. Would definitely come back. Had the Dwae Gi Bulgogi and Kimchi Ji Yeon. Full of flavor and came out fast.

Yelp
Little to no meat in the bi bi bop. Expected a little bit more but there was barely any
google avatar

Elisa H.

Yelp
Things have changed here. I moved out of St Paul, so when I am in town, I would go to MoK. Ordered the bibimbob and there was no rice. I had to ask for rice which defeats the purpose of a crunchy rice dish. And I was disappointed that of the usual kimchi side dishes used to be a variety of 12 dishes and now only 4. Will not be stopping back any time soon.

Patrick D.

Yelp
Our go-to Kimchi Tofu House was closed so I opted to try this place for once. This turned out to be a huge mistake. When one thinks of authentic Korean cuisine, spicy tofu soup should come to mind. It's a staple food item. When I called in to order this item, they had no idea what I was talking about. That should've been the first red flag. However, what they actually provided was worse. The soup had no seasoning, it was essentially a mixture of food clumped together in bland hot water. I could've made this at home. Oh, they also charge you 20% service charge for takeout as well without even telling you. Safe to say I won't be back. Don't waste your time and money here.

Tyler H.

Yelp
Really good food! I had their sundae guk which was the perfect amount of spicy and had crunchy bok choy and great sundae black sausage. The tripe was well cooked and there's also plenty of free street parking nearby.

Philip J.

Yelp
As a Korean, I cannot recommend this place. I ordered mung bean pancakes (bindaetteok) and it was very dry that I can tell it was pre-made. This should be a disgrace of a Korean restaurant for using a pre-made package and reheating. When I asked if it was pre-made/prepackaged, the server told me he isn't a chef and doesn't know --not even bother asking the chef. The only reason this place does well is because of scarcity of korean resturant. Food is not even subpar.
google avatar

Vee V.

Yelp
Great authentic Korean food! This family owned restaurant nails it when it comes to flavors and spices. The super fast and friendly service adds to a very enjoyable experience every time. It's a causal restaurant, with a homely feel. There are pictures of the family babies and kids on the walls. Makes it feel like the food really comes from a home kitchen and the recipes are passed on from generations. Parking is easy to find, plenty of places on the side street and there's a small parking lot in the back. I don't know all of the official dish names but some of my must try favorites are the kimchi pancakes, crispy fried on the outside, and chewy on the inside. Their specialty dish, yook hwae, with thinly sliced raw beef with sesame oil makes me giddy every time I order it. This comes with an egg yolk on top, when you break it and mix it up, OMG! Flavor explosion. I feel like a wild animal just scooping raw meat into my mouth, and I don't care. Soups are also amazing, try the beef spare rib soup with radishes and green onions, I could drink this broth everyday. Or be adventurous and get the beef tongue soup, the beef is insanely tender. If you're there in the summer you've got to try the buckwheat noodles in a cold broth with beef and veggies, it's so refreshing it's like air conditioning for your whole body. All of the traditional dishes like Bulgogi and Galbi are great here as well, but don't be afraid to explore other Korean fare. You won't be disappointed. My only issue is that I eat all of the little fermented veggie dishes, because I cannot help myself I just love that stuff, then I have kimchi burps all day. I need to do a better job of carrying mouthwash around.
google avatar

Betty C.

Yelp
Awesome place. Air conditioner is turned on way too high though buurrrrr. The appetizer plates are very small, portions aren't big enough for the price. The main dish was very good though. The bim bop hot plate is amazing! Huge portion. Totally worth. Yum!

Yelp
At it again. I'll be truthful 'murica, I don't really like reviewing Korean places because generally it all seems to be about the same to me in the Minneapolis Saint Paul area in terms of quality and price. And I love to support local korean business if I can because not to mention the korean community here is hella small. But I also like to be fair. I've been here 5 times in the past two years (two in the past two weeks because people were telling me that it was vastly better than before). Not once have I felt happy about spending money here. I'm not your typical high maintenance foodie, if it's good then aight. Something has to be uniquely bad or uniquely good for me to write something like this which is why you'll see my reviews are like 1 star or 5. So let's dissect why: Shall we start with service? The second to last time we went... When asked if the seasonal summer special was still available, cause both the summer and winter are on there without dates, the older server lady replied "how am I supposed to know?" Oh SNAP. Ok you know what? Lady might have had a hard day she was the only server working so we still ordered and I didn't say much and our tab was about $70-80 combined in which a 15% tip is was included. This was in korean, so no chance of language barrier or missed nuance. Ok then the last time we went, two servers were working. Got our waters and waited around 15-20 minutes and still no one came to take our order or even check up. (So the service was notably off 40-60% of the time I've gone.) The remaining times, never great. The food: Tried a plethora of ranges. Form bulgogi (bbq beef), naengmyun (cold noodles), gook (various soups), kimbap (korean maki), jun (korean style pancakes). Everything every time seemed pretty salty without that right "flavor." It's cool that they have jungshiks (full korean style meals) hard to find a set menu like that outside of the coasts but parts of me were glad we didn't order that. Overall: Like I said we eat out for a more pleasant experience and hassle free and I am not a complicated nor hard to please individual. I don't consider myself a big old "I smell a hint of thyme in the mashed potato" type of guy. All I ask for is an experience where I am at least equally happy when I went in as I left, and that had never happened on 5 occasions. Maybe your luck will be different.

Yelp
5 stars just for the fact that they have my favorite Korean dish, haejonguk! Oh my gooooossssshhhh I have been searching the whole city for this dish. It's very rare to find it in the states. To start from the beginning, we came here on Valentine's Day because I was craving Korean and knew other places would be super busy. Well, to my surprise, so was this place! I felt bad because there were only two servers and I could tell they were way too busy. We were patient though and it just made us even more ready for the yummy meal ahead. We have probably been to about 5 other Korean restaurants in the cities. My fiance is Korean and I lived there for 4 years so we are always in search of the best Korean restaurants. Yes, the prices here are a little higher than other places, but not by a lot. I was happy to pay around $16 to get my haejonguk fix on. I will say the haejonguk I always got in Korea was not listed as "haejonguk". It was under "gamjattang". So if you're looking for the pork spine soup, it's gamjattang. I wanted to cry when I took the first bite. It was perfection. The meat was so tender. The soup broth was spicy but not too spicy. I could not stop eating. We also ordered bibimbap to share and that was also good. But I was too in love with my soup to dwell on the bibimbap too much. I'm a little worried I know about this place now because I will want to go all the time. No, this place is not fancy. But I actually judge Korean restaurants if they are fancy. I love this place. I will be back, probably too many times, to indulge in my haejonguk (or gamjattang) obsession.

Yelp
I'll never forget when I stopped in. If your reading this, you'll remember that one week where MN had like -50 degree wind chills. YEA... that week. Alright onto my quick and dirty review, my visit could've been better. The kimbap was average, could've been better if made at home. I had the spicy seafood ramen, I kid you not, it actually had alot of seafood in it. The ramen was not over cooked and had a good texture. The building is definitely older. I think I'll make the trip to Hoban next time.

Yelp
This is the worse Korean food I've ever had. My son became sick after eating there. Puked and diarrhea. Not serious enough for hospitalization but a day off of school. The oxtail soup was oxtail boiled in water. No flavor. The jigae was just water with too much spicy kimchi sauce. The pork in the soup was thin and stuck together like it was thrown in there frozen. The pajeon(Korean pancakes) were over crisped. The only good thing was the fried dumplings - hard to get that wrong - and waitstaff was super nice and attentive. Not sure how this place even stays in business. Definitely not returning.

Yelp
Good food, but expensive. Service wasn't extraordinary, it was just me and my sig other yet we were charged 15% tip. She didn't even let us decide. We weren't demanding customers either. Fyi, they write you a green slip for all your purchases and how much tip they demand from you, then when you go to ring up, the receipt only shows your total and has an additional line for you to add tip AGAIN so pay attention. Rip off. Left a bad taste in my mouth after that. Don't think I'll be returning.

Yelp
Visiting for a few days, the bestie took my sister and I here. Its your standard Korean dining foods. We all ordered bibimbap and an order of the kimchi soup - vegetarian style. Man, it was firey hot with a kimchi taste with every bite. It came with a side of rice. The bibimbap was good. Standard. Didn't blow me away and the portions weren't that big so I was able to finish my bowl. The Korean sides that came before the meals were sparse and skimpy for three people to share. Service was as prompt as possible. I enjoyed the experience during my visit.

Yelp
A group of 6 Yelpers was set up by Julie. It was a great choice. I don't think any of us have been here. There are a lot of seafood items for future visits. The dumplings we shared were delicious. I got a hot pot of be bip bop. Lots of us ordered the same thing. It had beef, rice, egg, and I forget what else. It was mild so I added hot sauce. Everyone else drowned theirs in hot sauce. I tried a bite of the kimchee rice. Everything is delicious. I love the samplers they hand out, especially the shredded, sweet white radish. It really cleans you out. The place filled up and there were 2 people on the floor and had it totally organized, all the while keeping us in ice water. Since I don't usually do Korean, this will be my go to place.

Yelp
I was excited to try this for the first time. Service was perfect, servers came at all the right time which was really nice. Friendly workers. The food though, wasn't to die for. I ordered beef bulgogi, my staple Korean dish, and ordered the kimchi stew and rice cake stir fry to share. My bulgogi was plain. It tasted like chopped and sliced up beef stir fried with salt. It didn't have the sweet savory taste which was upsetting. The kimchi stew was bland. It came with veggies, pork and tofu, but it didn't have much flavor. I was hoping for the pickled kimchi taste but tasted like really watered down kimchi juice. The rice cake stir fry was my favorite dish. I love the chewiness of the cakes and the assortment of veggies with meat. Overall, I would not come back unless someone else is wanting to come here. The prices is just way too high and the portions are just too small. Why charge like $16-17 on a dish that barely one person would be filled. Not fore filling.
