"In Frederick, MISCellaneous Distillery is also releasing a new product on Sunday. The distillery will roll out Brill’s Batch Bourbon Whisky, which is named for owner Margaret “Meg” Brill McNeill’s family. Batch #1 has been aged for 6 months in a 5 gallon barrel and has notes of toasted pecan and caramelized sugar." - Adele Chapin

Went here for the tour to try to support a local. Did the tour where the Brew master told us that he doesn't age his whiskey to 4 years, or even the equivalent to with his smaller barrels. I get being in a hurry as a small start-up but it doesn't make sense to not even start aging a real whiskey while selling some of the faster products. The whole your was about 5 minutes. We get to the tasting room where the tour tickets gets you 4 thimble-sized tastes... Oh boy. These other reviews must've been from friends and family because these products are not fit for human consumption. You'd be better off decreasing your driveway with it. Terrible bite from the start and finishes with fire breath. What's worse, he charges a premium price for them. $42 was the cheapest bottle I saw in the place. 8 years in politics... Should go back dude, sorry.

We took a tour with the distiller on a random Saturday visit, and we could not have felt more welcome. Dan was willing to field every question and curiosity in detail, despite preparing for an event later. We enjoyed hearing the specifics of how each spirit is made and why he’s made certain decisions about his production process. To top off the tour, Allison in the tasting room was attentive and great with her descriptions. A chill vibe with folks who take their spirits seriously, but not themselves. Popi’s rum was our favorite, and a bottle came home with us. We’ll be back for others! It’s true, the sample tastings are small, but they have to be by law. I don’t think I’ve ever been to a distillery that offers more than 2oz in samples.

Staff was wonderful and not only very knowledgeable about their own product and process, but other local products they feature in their tasting room. We really enjoyed the rum tasting and can't wait for their aged rum and rye to be ready! Great people and a great product.

Recently made a visit. I was a little disappointed that they didn’t offer craft cocktails and I had to make my own. The shrub had a very over powering flavor and took over.

Google
Tasty rum- "Risky Rum". Typically in my experience when descriptions of liquor or wine say "w/ notes of molasses blah blah", this is wishful thinking and the product just tastes like wine or liquor. Miscellaneous' Risky Rum actually does give you a little taste of the sweeter finer ingredients- you can tell what it's made from just by tasting it. Impressive- got a little bottle of it.

Great people. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They truly care for their craft. I can't wait to come back when the rye is ready!

Yelp
A new entry on the local distillery stage, Miscellaneous Distillery makes a bold splash with a refined beverage. Enough of the fancy language, Misc. Distillery is an extremely promising local producer of a very fine Rye whiskey. Not to be out done by themselves, they also make a fine rum. After over 20 different runs, Misc produced a Rye with all the right peppery notes. This Rye is not shy. At the same time you will enjoy every sip of the Rye distilled by Dan, the master in the house. It turns out that when a company is made up of people that love their craft, their product(s) tends to be of a higher quality. Miscellaneous Distillery gives truth to this. Love of what you do produces a product that others will love. Not only is Miscellaneous Distillery worth the trip, it is worth coming back. Matter of fact, bring a friend. They will thank you.

Yelp
I visited this distillery as part of a yelp pizza and whisky party showcasing Miscellaneous Distillery, true syrups, and Laurienzo's pizza. The day started by sampling cocktails and having a mixology lesson. We had a version of a dark and stormy, rum punch and old fashioned using both miscellaneous liqueurs and true syrups. The cocktails were all delicious, being able to highlight the quality of the syrups and the quality of the liquor. After eating pizza we went down to the distillery and had a tour of the small facility. We were given a brief tour and learned about mashing, fermenting and the distillation process, all of which I'm really interested in since I'm an aspiring Home brewer. This is a small operation making rum, whisky and soon vodka in very small batches. We then sampling the white rum, oak aged rum and whisky, showing off the unique character of each liquor. The rum was smooth and complex with pepper and spice notes. The oak aging really lends a rich wooziness to the rum. The whisky was excellent with a robust malty flavor. While these liqueurs are all young and unaged, they are all excellent and unique for their age. I was told they are beginning to store barrels of whisky for longer term aging and will soon have that available. I can't imagine the flavor of this whisky at 3 years. Until then, add a few drops of fresh water to open it up to drink it straight or use in an excellent cocktail using true syrups. These liqueurs will lend some real character to any drink you make. 5/5 go on a free tour and take home some booze

Yelp
What an awesome addition to downtown Mt. Airy! We had our first experience with Miscellaneous at an event last spring and really enjoyed their rum. Visited yesterday afternoon with a friend from out of town and did a tasting. They have two rums, whiskey, and vodka. The tasting was informative and the girl who ran it was friendly and knowledgeable. The space is comfortable and fun, and worth checking out even if you've tried their spirits elsewhere. I love that they ask for donations to a monthly charity in lieu of the tasting fee.

Yelp
Pretty amazing to find such a great place for liquors in a small downtown, but it kind of adds to the charm. They're making it look easy, and yet there's obviously a pride and love put into the process. Whether you're sitting with a drink or just picking up a bottle, you're going to feel welcome. No bad choices here, but I recommend the Gin.

Yelp
Miscellaneous Distillery not only has great variety of liquor, but a super friendly staff and owner (and a wonderful dog!). I had such a great time and really appreciated the owner taking the time to answer many of the questions I had. I would definitely be returning, maybe to become a member!

Yelp
Impress your friends, and be good to yourself. This is the stuff you want on your shelf. Whether you sip or mix, they've made something that'll suit. And won awards for it. Personally I love the gin. Are we allowed to mention their whole-hearted community support and charitable works? They're good-spirited people.

Yelp
This was a nice place to discover! As a rum person, I tried the rums. I liked both and left with a bottle of the Risky Rum. Unique buttery texture, smooth with a slight kick at the end. I think it will be perfect for my future Mojitos! Anxiously awaiting the release of Popi's. Was afforded a taste of it and I want more! Can't wait for it to be released to the public! I'll be back!

Yelp
Great experience! The spirits were great - distinctive flavors and easy to drink. Owners were informative and helpful. Our tasting hostess was a very engaged and knowledgeable young woman. Great conversation while we enjoyed great spirits. Visit soon...you won't be disappointed!!
