Portland Queer Bar Misfits Opens on Northeast 82nd Avenue - Eater Portland

"Misfits Bar & Lounge, located at 2530 Northeast 82nd Avenue, has transformed from a dive bar into a laidback queer hangout. It hosts a variety of performances, including drag and burlesque, and features a menu with bar staples like burgers and chicken strips. The bar, owned by David Elderton and Sophie Garibbo, aims to provide a space for underrepresented communities in entertainment. Despite facing homophobic backlash, Misfits continues to thrive and plans to host a Pride event." - Andrew Jankowski

A true local bar, this place isn't fancy. The staff here was very friendly. The community here is lovely and it's a fun place to spend an evening at one of their great events. They do offer food, but we didn't try it. There was a nice variety of mocktails here. The perfect place to grab a couple drinks on your way home, but seriously don't skip the events.

Nice little cozy local bar thats not far from my house when I just want to go have a good drink and not go downtown. Michael the bartender is terrific and always friendly. Drinks are good and priced fair. Try the fries with the homemade ranch and fry sauce pretty good!. They have shows and performers some nights of the week. I typically go after when I just want to chill and enjoy talking with friends at the bar.

Amazing queer space! Loved the vibe and everything about it. Went to a drag show hosted by Coco Jem Holiday and Autumn Rainz and it was seriously amazing; best drag show I've ever been to! Thank you Misfits Bar for hosting events like this!

I ordered chicken strips and a bacon burger with a side salad. It came out quickly, as the chef was peeking out from the back and took my order personally to expedite our food enjoyment process. The bar was busy and seems like a popular place. The owner is very friendly and invested in your experience at his establishment. Clean and well stocked bathroom, a pleasant surprise with how many people were there. It was a very comfortable place to hangout. The bands are talented and were very entertaining. I always expect the sound to be too loud, it is a bar. But, as I always say, if they brought the volume down a little it would help keep my ears from ringing the next day. Our group had a really fun night. We were out supporting the band Bordertown, and found a good, well-run bar in the process.

Great drinks great performances. The food was good, they make their own ranch and cut their own french fries. The bartender Michael is great and had great customer service. Will be coming again.

What a great vibe! We went on a Friday night, and it was great. A Drag show followed by 2 bands. Good drinks, pool tables, nice servers, and a generally good atmosphere. Good pub food, too. Parking is available behind the place in a lot down the block a bit if the parking is full in front of the bar. Something I've not seen at a LGBTQIANB+ bar before was metal music and live bands. It was a very entertaining evening.

Yelp
Sophie and Michael are the best! Things have continued to improve since the place reopened under the name Misfits. Come in for a show, cocktail and have a great time! You won't regret it.

Yelp
Bar staff was amazing. Showed up during a burlesque show. 30$ totally not worth the cover for entry. Waited unto it was done. Drinks are weak.

Yelp
Went here last night. Amazing staff, food is wonderful, THE NEW OWNERS ROCK, especially the guy who is taking videos and pictures of the events that happen, i am proud to have a LGBTQ+ Venue/ Bar that is right near my home (easy walking distance). Now lets talk about the Queens and Kings, THEY ARE AMAZING. I am very glad that this has been happening now in the past this bar was boring and the food was always dull and bland (un-eatable) now its amazing. I highly suggest to go here, you will not be disappointed.

Yelp
Came here yesterday for the first time and was not disappointed, friendly staff, ice cold beer and good music. Thank you Sophie for setting the tone by being genuinely friendly and chill. I'll definitely be back.

Yelp
I came here to see live music. Way way too loud. Small venue with stadium volume. The food was not great. I had a burger that was so meh I really couldn't finish it. They had full staff, no mask mandate yet you had to walk to the bar to place your order. Not customer friendly. Not to mention when you finally got the bartenders attention he was less than friendly. I would not recommend this place unless you are seeing a specific band and have already eaten.

Yelp
The new owners of this place rock. They have a vision and I'm excited to see this place grow. Always something going on here. Live shows, good drinks, and best of all the bartenders! Go check it out.

Yelp
I've been to this place in a couple of iterations and I can't say Eastside is the worst. Like the bartender and that they have tons of live music. Bar food, etc. Sound is lacking, but typically the band compensates, as it's fun. Security is loose, and the so-called security is drunk at best, asshole at worst, hence the 3 star review. I personally wasn't targeted by they/them, but honestly they were clearly just being an asshole and I guess I didn't appreciate it much.

Yelp
The food is average and the drinks are stuff! Ran by a new owner, who is a really nice guy. We had a benefit concert here and it was a great success!!

Yelp
Came here since they were close to my Airbnb place, yeah it's a dive bar, but super friendly with great prices and good food. I had a bacon burger and fries, and it was great. The people were an eclectic mix and had some good conversations and left the place smiling. If you're in the neighborhood, thirsty, or hungry, stop in, you won't regret it.

Yelp
Neat spot! Good prices, good food, good company! .50 cent pool, happy hour from 3-7p. Nice, chill spot.

Yelp
BARTENDER OVER-POURS AND THEN CHARGES YOU FOR IT. Let that sink in. I order a double shot of hornitos and tonic and a single shot of hornitos and tonic. After listening to the bartender tell us how the owner leaves her in charge of the place and is allowed to do whatever she pleases (not without mentioning that he was also a jerk) I left the bar area and didn't order a single drink after that but left my card open. I asked a friend to close my tab and tip her (friend let me know total was 33 with the 5 dollar tip.) my boyfriend thought it was a little too much so went to ask for the receipt. The bartender then began to yell at him that there was no refunds and that hornitos was 7 dollars a shot, and she had put 3 shots in the double( WHICH IS VERY ILLEGAL ) I asked for and that's why she charged me more. Then even went as far as to say that I went to order five drinks from her. I went to ask for me receipt (very nicely) and was met with a very rude, bitter attitude. She began to yell at me that she couldn't give me another receipt, the one that was signed was her copy and I couldn't see it. When I asked if she was going to let me speak or just yell at me she told me I could leave. Literally wtf? The most bizarre thing I have ever seen in my life. Never have I ever been told I can't see a copy of my receipt. That's just stupid. They were having a fundraiser for a local man that had been injured in an accident, I gave money to that, I tipped the bartender and had no problem. But it's not my fault you over poured my drink and if that's how you're trying to put a little extra money in YOUR OWN POCKET then shame on you. Don't come here, or make sure you get a receipt.

Yelp
Take advantage of the happy hour from 3-7 $3.50 drinks and great food for the buck. Steve is great company, great music on Sundays and great local beers
