The 38 Best Restaurants in Vancouver

"Open for: Lunch and dinner, with brunch on weekends Price range: $ This loudly bustling spot on Cambie blends Japanese and Mexican cuisines. Chashu-style carnitas shine in gloriously messy tacos thanks to meltingly tender, just-fatty-enough pork and zippy pineapple relish. Load up the kimchi-nacho fries with birria and a fried egg, and obviously add instant ramen to your birria-dilla consomé. There’s also a daily happy hour, which offers well-priced cocktails, tacos, and an intriguing combo of shrimp crackers and guacamole. Must try dish: It’s almost worth having a hangover just to enjoy the reviving properties of the Mexican Oyakodon at brunch." - Nikki Bayley

My friend and I just had a dinner at this restaurant today. We had the 3 minimal Tacos Order + French Fries Nachos (Regular Size) Well, first of all, all the food are delicious and nothing to complain about it. I am not an expert at Tacos and I enjoyed what I ate (as I enjoy Korean and Japanese food a lot) However, we didn’t understand well the menu which ended up in a big order of food for only two of us. We thought the minimal 3 order per tacos (was written in the menu) would provide only 1 taco per order (but it came 3 per order) So we ordered 9 tacos, instead of 3 (which by the price makes a little sense, but a menu can’t give room for this misunderstanding or the staff could have introduced the menu for us). In addition, the price is overpriced (16~18$ before tips and taxes). I paid 30$ and my friend almost 50$ in the end. We can go for similar places and order same amount of food for 12~13$, even less. There is one place which is even few steps away on Cambie (Heading North) which has similar Mexican food for lower price. Environment is noisy. It’s really hard to talk. We got tables inside (They have bar and outdoor seat). I assume outdoor seat are not that noisy. Plus: The Japanese Waiter is so handsome and cutie. 🇯🇵

•July 2025• happy hour taco deal: 3 tacos & a beer for $20. Got the Ebi Mayo tacos and they were good but wish they had a bit more slaw and some sauce drizzled on top of the fish. The nacho fries were great! Heads up they have sour cream on them (not listed on the menu)

Great Japanese/Mexican taco fusion joint! We ordered the shrimp chip + guac, kimchi poutine, teriyaki cheesy tacos, and charsiu carnitas tacos. The highlights were absolutely the kimchi poutine and teriyaki cheesy tacos. The idea of the shrimp chip & guac is great but execution not quite so - first and foremost, there was barely any guac in the dish. It was very liquidy/runny, and served in a rather tall but narrow container - making it impossible to dip these large and wide shrimp chips (think the Chinese shrimp chips you get at the super market or at a Chinese banquet served with crispy duck or chicken). We suggest you skip this next dish. The chasiu carnitas were ok - the meat itself wasn't very flavorful, the pineapple chunks overpowered the taco. We suggest you skip this dish. We would recommend the poutine (super crispy and fresh) and the teriyaki cheesy tacos (very flavorful and unique).

We came in based on seeing this place on social media. Sunday afternoon, lunch time… Was PACKED! We were still seated rather quickly & service was great. Our server gave us a couple of recommendations that we went with! Drinks came quickly followed by starters. Started with chips & guac, & Edame-mex! Delicious! Shortly after our recommended dishes arrived, teriyaki tacos & birria-dilla. Soooo delicious! Even though the place was packed, the service and kitchen was impeccable! Will definitely come back- looking forward to sampling more items on the menu :)

This was one of the most flavorful meals I've had in a long time. The service was excellent! The staff were super friendly, engaging, and really knowledgeable about the menu. When I asked about the dishes, they didn’t just say "it’s good" — they explained the hints of flavor and sold me on the experience. I was totally convinced. We tried the cheese dip and added the teriyaki beef which had a nice kick, their tasty birria tacos with a flavourful dip , the amazing chicken karaage tacos that had a great crunch with a drizzle of deliciousness, and kimchi nacho fries which was a nice mix. The miso soup was incredibly rich in flavor, with big chunks of tofu. They also have a kids' menu! The flavors were absolutely bursting in every dish. The place was busy, so be prepared for a lively vibe. It felt young and energetic, and honestly, it could’ve used a DJ — though we went on a weeknight, so not sure if they have one regularly. The mix of Japanese and Mexican flavors was such a great combo. I just wish they had a location in Langley. But honestly, it's totally worth the drive. We’ll definitely be back!

Google
Miso Taco nails Mexican Japanese street food. Their happy hour tacos are a great way to try something new, the chicken karaage and teriyaki cheesy taco stood out for me. The miso pork belly is solid too, with plenty of flavour. One of the best parts is their selection of sauces. They cover everything from hot to mild to smoky but the spicy mango was my favourite! The vibe is fun and casual, and they even have a Street Fighter arcade game to play while you wait. It’s definitely not your typical taco joint, there’s real creativity and care in what they’re doing and I look forward to going back.

I really enjoyed my Chicken Caraage Taco - it was super yummy; crunchy yet saucy. My husband ordered Birria-Dilla and he enjoyed it very much. The reason for a four star review is due to consome (that comes with Birria) being slightly oversalted. If you are looking for a Mexican food with a unique twist in flavours, then this place should be definitely checked out!

Another hidden Gems restaurant in Vancouver. They have an awesome taco. Order chashu and love at the first bite feeling. Attako and teriyaki are also very tasty. Order Bowl one, and shockingly, it is also very good, but I love their Taco more. Dessert kinako moch is a bit too sweet. Their service is okay, very fast serving. The atmosphere is very cool, the Japanese Dragon Ball show on their TV, free old time arcade. very clean washroom, too.

Yelp
Miso Taco - YES... there is no conFUSION about this. This place is owned and operated by Chef Diego. A Mexico City dude making it big in Vancity. Diego worked for years in Japanese restaurants and learning about the foods of the east. Years later, he opened up Miso Taco just on the edge of Chinatown. It was a success!!! And I've been recommending his place to everyone. Food here is excellent. Right size, right prize, and right for the tastebuds. The unique menu items comes from Diego's desire to max out flavours. His Birria Taco maxes out the amount of cheese a taco can handle and his dip can be used as sauce to add to ramen noodles. His menu is worth exploring - everything is so good and make sure you order up some of his in-house made salsas - the Diego Salsa is excellent. They made their move to their Cambie Street location - and it's so much closer to where I live, so thumbs up!!! And he opened up a second location in Burnaby (me thinks) and he's dabbling with a French/Mex idea as well. Service is spot on and it seems that his staff really appreciate him and his energy. It really is his personality that sets the ambiance of his restaurants. Happy, full of energy and you can't help being drawn in and enjoying yourself. Date nights, meetings, hanging out... all is chill here. And his cool cocktails help with the vibe too! LOL! A must try on my list. CHEERS!!!!!

Yelp
Before food: wasn't sure about Mexican/Japanese fusion. After meal: still not 100% sure about this fusion. Mexican oyakodon was different than a typical Japanese oyakodon as it came with avocado and your choice of salsa. Enchiladas had a choice of protein, I chose teriyaki beef - interesting and tasty combo, and super generous with the cheese, but I'd prefer classic enchiladas. Regardless, an innovative place that's not afraid to step outside the box. A for effort. Though, from the dishes we ordered, I don't feel like they a) fully worked (the fusion), or b) not 'fusion'ed' enough. It was worth trying, and I'd be back to try other menu items because the quality of ingredients and cooking are both high! The service was very friendly, though be 20% gratuity for large groups!

Yelp
The restaurant is quite spacious and family friendly. The tacos come with salsa sauce of choice but there were so many of us and we all ordered tacos so they gave us a platter of sauces. There was no labels so we have volunteers to see which ones were the less spicy ones. I had the chicken karaagge tacos. My impression was the chicken was fried really well and it goes really well with the fresh veggies and sauces. My only complaint is there are not enough salsas to go around for us. Our friend said that adding the ramen for the Burria-Dilla is a must. The ramen reminds her of migoreng. I actually had a lot of fried chicken that night since we need to finish my son's taco bowl as well. The place is feels very welcoming. The best part her is they were playing Sailormoon on the TV. They also offer brunch if you are into Mexican Japanese fusion brunch. There are free and paid street parking available.

Yelp
Miso Taco on Cambie opened about a month ago and has gained popularity for their fusion Japanese-Mexican dishes! I went there on a Sunday afternoon so it was crowded, we had to put our names on a waitlist for a party of 4 and got in like 20mins after (not too bad). The place is good but don't think it can accomodate a big party. We ordered non-alcoholic drinks but there were all soo good! I would say that was the highlight of the restaurant, would recommend the - Like a Virgin, Jamaica Me Crazy, and Passion Colada For food - :: Kimchi nachos - best dish on the menu! They fries were cheesy and layered with perfection. The taste of the kimchi was amazing and the dipping sauce was so good. Would highly recommend this - 5/5 :: Birria-Dilla tacos - Also excellent, it was basically a quesadilla filled with birria and had the birria dipping sauce. Loved it! 5/5 :: Ramen my wrap - not the best, it was pretty bland.. lacked flavour and the ramen in a wrap didn't stand out to me as much. 2/5 :: Chicken karaage tacos - I had high expectations from this but it didn't stick. The karaage was dry and it was hard to have it unless you pour a lot of sauce on there. 3/5 The service was not bad, they took 15-20mins to take our order and another 30mins to get the food. They were very busy and had only one staff taking orders. I would recommend them to have more staff during busier hours to speed up the service.

Yelp
My partner was craving Meixcan/tacos so we came here since we were in the area. It was my partner's first time and she absolutely loved the vibes and ambiance of the restaurant. It was very nostalgic with the older anime being played on the TVs (Sailor Moon, Naruto, Hunter x Hunter). Our server was very friendly and helpful and provided their insight on the dishes we were inquiring about. The food was delicious and did not disappoint. I've ordered the Birria-Dilla and Tuna Tataco before, but wanted my partner to try. They recently changed their Tempura Enoki dish to squid instead, so we tried that. To my surprise, it was not what I was expecting (was thinking it would be like calamari), but it came on skewers and was very tasty. She loved all the dishes and added the restaurant to our "loved it, coming back" list. Service was fast and would recommend coming here!

Yelp
My fave item was the Birria-dilla which combines the popular birria taco with a quesadilla. It was very cheesy and delicious! The Chashu Style Carnitas Tacos had very tender pieces of pork inside and there was plenty of filling.  Both of these dishes come with your choice of salsa so we picked the Smoked Pepper salsa and the Green Avocado salsa. The Smoked Pepper one was really thick like a paste and I was not a fan of the smoky taste since it was a bit bitter and we liked the Green Avocado one better.  The Kimchi Nacho Fries sounded promising but I think it had too many onions for me (and I don't usually mind raw onions). It also came with refried beans, cheese and cilantro. We added on Chicken Kaarage and each piece was juicy. This also came with a choice of salsa. The portion was really big though so might be good if you have a big group to share with.

Yelp
Thought I would try this restaurant for lunch and it was okay. The service and food is a little bit on the slow side, although at the time the restaurant was less than half full. The prices are pretty reasonable and the food was quite tasty. I got the birria-dilla for $17. This was thick and had a lot of fillings, especially the cheese. The birria broth to dip in was salty. I liked how hot the food was when it arrived. My friend got the chicken karaage tacos and he said it was good. The issue is, after lunch, I was incredibly thirsty. I already drank a lot of water during lunch, and afterwards I drained my large water bottle. My friend said the same, so it wasn't just because of the salty birria-dilla broth on the side. So this alone is stopping me from going back. Although a reservation is not really required, I like how you can book a table easily on OpenTable and there's lots of availability. There is some free street parking a few blocks south of the restaurant on Cambie, or in the neighbourhood. Although the food was tasty, I was way too thirsty after to want to visit again. Too bad as their brunch seems like a good option and is on the affordable side.

Yelp
Was craving their beef teriyaki cheesy tacos, so I went back! Their beef teriyaki tacos this time were okay. The teriyaki sauce wasn't too strong and the cheese were quite burnt and hard. It crunchy part was good but could've been looked slightly less. Their chasiu ramen wrap was still very good! It's also incredibly filling. The chicken karaage tacos were were delicious! Very nice crunch and a good ration of meat to skin. They eeerr generous with the portions too. We tried to miso soup and it was way too salty and tasted like packet miso from the store. For $4/cup that was really just two sips. I wouldn't order it again. To add on, they were not that great with refilling our water glasses and it was amplified because of how salty the soup was.

Yelp
Awesome vibe here at miso taco. Came for a bday and the staff were super attentive. The margaritas are strong! The sale bombs so much fun. The fries, birria with ramen was da bomb. Will def be back again. They have a big bar, would love to try the other drinks too. They also have a cool option to pay on ur phone with QR code. Super easy!

Yelp
Just wow! Best fusion food I've eaten since I moved to Vancouver. Apparently they also have a restaurant in Burnaby. I stopped at the one on Cambier street on my way to a concert. Needed a quick dinner so this seems like a good option. Japanese-mexican street food is not something I heard of before but it works great! I ordered the attako on taco ( with fried octopus, bonito flakes and an amazing secret sauce) and my friend the Tuna taco (with seared tuna and wasabi mayo). It was an explosion of flavours. I am clearly addicted now. I would eat this every day if I lived nearby. Service was great and very fast. Please open a restaurant in the West end!!

Yelp
Well that was a disaster. We arrived around 12:15pm for lunch and were seated relatively promptly. It took about 10 minutes for a server to come by. The menu states they have vegan options, but isn't at all clear about what can be vegan -- so you have to ask the server. This doesn't seem efficient. Why not just put a symbol next to dishes that can be done vegan? It took another 10-15 minutes for the server to come back to take our order. I ordered the fried rice bowl ($18) and added some tofu ($3). My wife got the ramen bowl. My order didn't come out until about the 50-minute mark. And my wife's still hadn't arrived 15 minutes after that, at which point we canceled the order, as it had apparently been wrongly delivered to another table. My dish -- though advertised as a mushroom fried rice -- didn't have mushrooms it. Despite that, the dish is just not well-designed: there's a lot of raw onion, crappy iceberg lettuce, under-ripe tomatoes, and is generally just pretty uneventful. The server was eventually apologetic about everything and comp'd us for the fried rice, but she was quite inattentive and unresponsible until that time. Even if everything had gone perfectly, the food was profoundly mediocre. Given the experience, we definitely have no reason to return. They have a lot of to improve on in their operations.

Yelp
Asian/Mexican fusion seems odd conceptually, but it definitely works. So unique, really enjoyed the chashu and karaage tacos, and now I have to come back and try everything else.

Yelp
Lively place replaces short lived black walnut. Drinks reasonably priced but food not as refined or special as expected. Asked for cilantro on the side but request ignored.

Rod M.

Yelp
The staff were great but the food was not as good as I'd expected. There was a wait but they've got a great text system so you don't have to stand there and we got in pretty quickly. The inside is cool - more of a place you'd go to for a quick bite. I'd expected more from the food. The miso soup was great but the burrito with ramen was pretty flavourless with way mor ramen than protein. I'd go back for the novelty but not something I'd crave

Yelp
Right at the start, when we're waiting by the door to be ask for how many in our party , this didn't happen. Other people were passing us going straight to staff and they got seated right away. Very unorganized . When we were finally seated, we have to waited another 10-15 mins and have to flagged a staff who is only serving but not taking orders and by the way , the staff who is taking orders never get to our table. So the server girl has to take our orders and which she was still new to this task and I was skeptical about our orders . After 20 mins 2 out of 4 orders came and the rest was somehow missed . At this point we're getting impatient and decided just to get it to go. Very poor service. Never going back to this place again.

Gianni C.

Yelp
Food was unique and delicious takes on standard Mexican staples. Service was attentive and excellent. The ambience was amazing, as if you were walking into 90's just to see the hottest anime of the season so far, with classic shows playing across the screens and decor that's heavily influenced by that vibrant era.
