I traveled to NJ with a few colleagues for a friends event for the weekend. We wanted to try out a nice diner before heading back home.
We were greeted when we walked in and sat at a table. An older lady came and took our order and food was delivered maybe 15min after.
Food wasnt so great. Myself and a friend asked for a breakfast special with no ham. However when we received it, it still had ham. The french toast was soggy and eggs were dry.
At this point, im not even really upset because its whatever. However when we were handed the bill, we saw that we were charged incorrectly for drinks.
Rewinding back, we saw that all of our meals came with a "small drink". When the older lady took our order, she ASKED us what did we want to drink. Again, were not from here, so were assuming that this is the small drink thats apart of the meal. Instead we were charged for large drinks.
Let me say, i have no problem with paying for anything but we wanted to understand the charges that werent explained to us at all.
The older lady had an attitude and responded:
"well you didnt say you wanted a small so we automatically give you a large"
Again, the menu offering stated we will receive a small drink. Not a large. It also doesnt say that i need to specify what size drink i wanted. So we asked for a manager, who he said his name is "Larry".
When Larry approaches our table, this is exactly what he said:
"you guys dont want to pay for the drinks?!"
First of all as a manager, you should NEVER approach any paying customer that way. I am a manager myself and the way he handled the entire situation was highly unprofessional.
Then asked us what did we have and said he's going to look at the order. When he came back, he said
"oh she was completely wrong i fixed it". and gave us a new receipt.
As he walked away, he shouted to us and said "wipe that attitude off our faces". seriously?! again, Larry is a manager.
Very unprofessional establishment. This diner should seek to train their employees on how to speak and handle customers. Never once did my colleagues and I disrespect anyone in this diner. Were all very professional and handled this situation alot better than them.
Lastly, for Larry, if this is your real name. You will never be more than a diner manager with the bad attitude that you have.
