Miss Chang An is a new addition to Cary, located next to the Wake Med Hospital. They have a very limited menu which i like because they can specialize in the 5 items that they have on the menu. They serve items from Xi'An, China which is hard to find in North Carolina.
My first time having Xi'An food was from Xi'An Famous Food in NYC, I ordered their Liang Pi also known as cold noodles, I was hooked after the first visit and I would crave it from time to time but it's so hard to find so I am especially glad to see Miss Chang An being so close to my house.
For my first visit, I placed an online order, and the order was ready to be pickup at the scheduled time. You have to give them the order number at the counter; I left my phone in the car without memorizing the order number and they weren't able to locate my order with my name since they go by order number only. I ordered Xi'An Cold Noodles and their braised chicken. They give you 3 sauces to mix into the noodles - chili oil, garlic sauce and a vinegary sauce; just toss these all into the noodles and mix. The tanginess left me wanting more. The braised chicken was different than what I had imagined, it was so flavorful and spicy. I finished both plates in one sitting; is it their small portion or my huge appetite? Idk, could be both
For my second visit, I placed an online order again, the order was ready to be picked up when I got there though we had a bit of communication issue since the front counter lady didn't speak English. I was able to show her my order number on my phone and picked up my noodles. I ordered two portions Xi'An Cold Noodles for my dinner and saving for braised chicken for the next day.
Their food is consistently good both visits and the pricing is affordable. I want to try the Chinese burger next time; it is called the Rougamo on the menu. I hope more people give this place a try so they can stay in business (my ulterior motive for writing this review. )
