"Opened in 1941, the Miss Florence Diner is one of the oldest operating lunch cars in the country and still retains many of its historic architectural details from nearly a century ago. In classic diner fashion, expect a seemingly infinite list of offerings ranging from oversize omelets, pancakes with toppings galore, cold salad sandwiches, and patty melts from the griddle." - Nat Belkov

The food was good. The only problem with our visit is waiting for a table. The waitresses don’t communicate. People were randomly told to wait on the bench in the front, at the picnic table outside, or at the bench in the back. No names were taken. No coherent seating strategy. Same-sized parties arriving after us were seated before us.

My first trip here , but my wife grew up near it and had fond memories. Very friendly staff and my Monte Cristo was very good. Excellent old diner vibe with good solid menu choices. Well crafted foods and homemade sodas make for a filling lunch or breakfast. Don't miss out , go here!

Google
Went in for dinner tonight ! Dinner is only monday-wednesday nights, but it was a great choice! Our server was knowledgeable and extremely pleasant, anticipated our needs! We had 3 entrees, large portions, roast turkey dinner, chicken parm dinner and chicken fried steak !!! Enough for lunch and dinner the next day ! And don't forget to get yourself a slice of blueberry pie ! Georgie, the owner, is a fabulous hostess to her guests at the diner !

Miss Florence is my go-to classic diner spot in Northampton/Florence. The eggs benedict is great. Would recommend. This is a place the community really cares about and that shows. Old friends sitting in booths around you having a great conversation. The staff is kind and attentive. The coffee is good.

Google
The atmosphere was classic diner. They were out of corned beef hash, which was in both dishes we ordered, so that's the reason for the four stars. Our server was good and attentive and kept our coffee filled. The dishes we got - without the hash - were very good. If we lived in the area, we would be regular customers.

Miss Florence Diner is a hidden gem with absolutely incredible food – hands down the best I've had. The grilled cornbread sausage 'n' gravy and banana bread French toast were standout options that left my taste buds in awe. The nostalgic touch of old-time jukeboxes at the tables added a charming vibe, and the waitress was not just the best but also friendly, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. If you're a food enthusiast looking for a delightful and flavorful meal, this diner is a must-visit.

Get some hash and flip through the paper. The only way the breakfast sandwiches get better are if someone else is buying.

Google
Small, cute little Diner. Delicious Coffee. Chicken fried steak to die for, very juicy. My over easy eggs were cooked to perfection. We also ordered Pumpkin Spice Pancakes (Seasonal). You are given the choice of how many... I should have asked, "how big are they?" I ordered two 🤦 !!! One pancake is the size of Texas! Lol. Wasted a whole pancake and a half. My daughter and I shared 1/2 a pancake!!! Other than that, we really enjoyed the food, service and friendly smiles! I would recommend it for sure!

Yelp
Miss Florence Diner is great! I got a pancake with blueberries. They offer a lot of food, with many of them being sort of bundles with eggs toast and home fries. The sizes here are insane. For the price you're paying you get a lot. My one blueberry pancake was the size of the plate! The parking is great, with lots of space in the back! The service here is really great, with the staff being very nice. It has a very great feel inside, (pretty sure it used to be a train car.) I really recommend this place!

Yelp
I've eaten breakfast here dozens of times and always enjoyed the excellent cooking. Recently they've opened for dinner with Prime Rib the Monday special-- although tonight they didn't have it-- guess I should've called-- so ordered the baked haddock with bread crumbs and lemon sauce-- except there were no crumbs and the fish was a mess of butter and water with no taste of lemon-- couldn't even get a side to give it some flavor because they were out of lemon. Side vegetable undercooked barely edible, mashed potato and salad were ok. Total w/tip $30.50. Think I should start eating in.

Yelp
Gosh where do I start? I'm not sure why they have two entrances when it appears they only acknowledge you if you come in the main door. Which is not helpful for handicap individuals, who will have to use the backdoor. We came in through the backdoor simply because we had to park in the back. This would not have been a problem had the staff acknowledged us, which they did not. We stood awkwardly there before trying to just sit down in a booth due to the staff not acknowledging us. I would like to clarify the staff saw us standing there but did not greet us or anything. However a staff finally acknowledged us when we attempted to just sit down, just to say that they had no idea we were there and the line started at the main entrance. I hope they improve that system especially because the main entrance again is not handicap accessible. The main entrance where they requested us to wait is like an oven with the sun and the space heater. You will feel like a pack of sardines smushed in there when there gets to be more than 4 people stuck in there. We watched a giant group of 6 leave due to this / the wait. Onto the food.. it was okay but not worth the wait. The omelette was very watery. The bacon had an excessive amount of fat on it, and was not very edible. We ended up leaving the whole plate of bacon alone. We attempted to order fresh fruit, only to be told that they have no fresh fruit or any fruit in the diner. That just led us to be confused on what they must be adding in the "fruit" pancakes.. Our waitress was nice but she did not check on us. In fact we had to go up and get the coffee + water that she had neglected to bring over after more than 30 minutes. Overall the diner is not what it used to be. Hopefully someday it'll get back to being an overall good place to eat.

Yelp
Fabulous breakfast earlier today. Chicken, Broccoli, and Cheddar omelette. Robust coffee (and it keeps coming.) Ample space at the counter. Very friendly and timely service. Great vibe, too. Free parking on the side + air conditioner. Will be back!

Robin O.

Yelp
This place is incredible! Everyone there works so hard and are so friendly at the same time! I got Eggs Benedict. The hollandaise sauce was to die for! My friends got the the French dip Sandwich, sweet potato fries, and a number of their breakfast and lunch items. Everything was outstanding and everyone working there was amazing! Highly recommend!

West B.

Yelp
We ordered baked haddock, which was in retrospect, probably not the best choice at a dinner. It was essentially uncooked. The sides were mashed potatoes that were lukewarm, gravy and mixed vegetables. The vegetables were out of a can. We sent the fish back to be cooked and it came back still not cooked. At that point, I told the waitress that the meal was unacceptable. She asked if we wanted something else and I said no. She said she would talk to the manager and came back with a bill for just our coffees. No apology for the quality of the meal. I would have at least expected them to comp the coffees, since they had basically wasted an hour of our time. Poor management.

Lisa F.

Yelp
Heading to Yankee Candle on the earlier side gives us an excuse to go to breakfast. This place was a home run! Charming, historic with the best waitress we've had in a long time (and she only works Sundays!). The Cowboy omelet for hubs, the Big Benedict for me-- home fries were delish, portions huge! My hollandaise sauce was broken but other than that, loved it all! Great for people watching and a hearty meal (breakfast and a show lol). I don't doubt that we'll be back many times!

Yelp
Another win in western MA. 10 score for the queer-o-meter! We got basic breakfasts and it was great. Service was friendly and accommodating. Per usual I was a PITA and the waitress was awesome. The food was fresh, cooked to order and accurate. The table side jukebox was SO COOL. We plopped in some quarters and listened to ABBA as well as a few other fab groups. Go here and enjoy yourself. Cheers!

Rich K.

Yelp
Breakfast......very nice overall. Great ambiance. Lowlights: The pancakes are nothing special. They were kind of rubbery and soaked up the syrup like a sponge. The coffee is standard diner coffee......just average. The maple syrup was real......

Yelp
Stopped in on a Saturday late morning for brunch. Place was jam packed. The original dining car, circa 1942, has about 15 stools and 7 booths. There are an additional 4 booths in an addition. All booths and 13 stools had fannies. My server, Leah, was very capable. In fact, the two servers are tasked with a lot... busing and cleaning tables, taking orders, refilling beverages, cashing out, answering the phone, etc. etc. etc.. I ordered the corned beef hash w two eggs over, home fries, and sourdough toast. Considering the mob scene, I was pleasantly surprised when my order came literally in minutes. The CBH is home-made, but has the consistency of canned.....no chunks. But it was very excellent. Leah did a great job, checking on me several times. BTW, in answer to my question on whether the CBH was home-made, she mentioned that they go thru about 600 to 700 POUNDS of corn beef in a typical week. Handicap ramp on the side. Bathrooms are clean, grub is good, prices reasonable. Worth a visit.

Yelp
I had a birthday breakfast here. I was craving waffles, so we came to check out this spot. Delish! And fun. The vibe is all over the place. There's wood paneling on the walls, regular windows, hazy/shower block bathroom windows, varying signage all over, a bar, booths, and just general chaos. There are some plastic barriers in between booths on half of them and then not on the others. They even have a little two-seater booth (which we took advantage of). The employees were really friendly, and it's clear that this place has a following of people who really love it. The atmosphere was chill and casual. But the food? So so good. I had waffles topped with strawberries, blueberries, and whipped cream. They were just perfect. A solid birthday breakfast choice. Highly recommend, especially for a casual weekend brunch.

Mike R.

Yelp
Old school diner feel, had to wait 7 mins for a booth but Soo worth it. Food was delicious. Normal prices as expected

Yelp
Looked forward to a rare breakfast out. Friendly's in Florence no longer serves breakfast so went to Miss Florence Diner. No booth seats open, so sat at counter to rest our old bones. Waitress said a booth should open in five to ten minutes. 15 minutes later a booth opened up. BUT we were not allowed to move there because there is an unwritten rule that once a customer sits at the counter they cannot move to a booth. We were not made aware of this rule. Simple breakfast sandwiches took forever, home fries were old and dried out, no water offered. Loved the old Flo's; won't be going back to the new Flo's.

Kelly L.

Yelp
Best little diner around! Great giant pancakes. I get the banana. I also like a sandwich. Always good.

Erika L.

Yelp
The food is very good here, but the service was exceptional! Such a great local feeling here. You can tell the staff are experienced and care. The staff sets this place apart from others!

E C.

Yelp
Best diner in the local area! We had a pleasant experience, good food, great service, and delicious food! The Southern Dixie combo was surprisingly good with the corn bread. Definitely looking forward to coming back.

Louise M.

Yelp
One of our favorite places to go for a quick bite. Always reliably good food and service. We usually sit at the counter and it just feels like a great neighborhood joint. Thanks, yes, I'll have another cup of coffee....

Art D.

Yelp
A National Treasure! Service is fantastic and ambiance is as would be expected. It's Miss Flo's for God's sake !

Roger C.

Yelp
Had not been here for about a year. Brought my elderly mom to give her a nice brunch. 47 minutes later our food arrived. I ordered the Thanksgiving Day Sandwich which had fresh roasted turkey and it was good. My mom ordered the Veggie Florintine Benedict. When it arrived, the holindaise sauce was split. It was replaced and arrived 15 minutes later with poached eggs that were not cooked. If you're going to have a daily special...know how to cook. We had asked our server at the time of our order to place a to go order when our food arrived. She forgot and when reminded we were told very bluntly that we would not be able to get our to go order for at least 45 minutes......nice We were comped the meal but will not return anytime soon. Too bad, it used to be great.

Karyn K.

Yelp
It was just ok. The diner is really cute and retro and the outdoor seating was very roomy and nice, but the food wasn't particularly good. It was edible but very forgettable. Slightly understaffed also in my opinion- the patio could have used two servers instead of one. Overall a meh experience.

Prp J.

Yelp
Food was good, nothing memorable. Coffee sucked, that was memorable. Service was ok, above average while 40% seats occupied. Once the lunch crowed came in, it was subpar.

Taylor Y.

Yelp
I hadn't been to the Miss Florence since I moved out of the area but made sure to stop by when I was in the area. I can't speak highly enough of this historic gem. The food is still delicious (get the Breakfast Club- you won't regret it!) but what made the whole experience even better was our server Leah. What a ball of joy she is! She also has a quick wit about her and when we complimented her on her efficiency she joked and told us it was her first day. You can get a great breakfast in a lot of places but very rarely do you get a server as great as Leah.

Sasha P.

Yelp
the owner was extremely rude to me. for no reason. I am a super polite good guy. next time I go back. she'll be very very very sorry.

George T.

Yelp
Good bloody heavens. Going through Florence businesses (there's a current flap going on with a proposed cannabis dispensary in the center), I got hit with a startling omission: I'd never reviewed Miss Flo's. How could I not have reviewed Miss Flo's? I started eating here when I moved from Springfield to Easthampton 25 years ago. I love diners, and I'd *heard* of the place: Miss Flo's was a legend among diner lovers then, as today. It gave me everything I wanted -- the ambience, good meals at a reasonable price, non-grotesque portion sizes, old time values. And then I moved away, and it took me 19 years to get back to Hampshire County. And then COVID hit. So my wife and I didn't get back to Miss Flo's until this year. And the ambience is still there. Good meals at a reasonable price (for Northampton these days, anyway). Non-grotesque portion sizes. And the juke boxes are still there ... a song for a quarter! Blessings upon this legend of diners, and may it last for many more years.

Deanna M.

Yelp
I had an amazing home cooked, Thanksgiving dinner thanks to Georgianna and the entire team at Miss Florence Diner. Love this local spot in Florence.

Kay R.

Yelp
A restaurant was cleaned. The service was great! The food unfortunately was just average.

John S.

Yelp
Ate breakfast Monday May 8, 2023. Ordered Greek Omelet with side of tomatoes instead of potatoes. I was told there is a $1 uncharge which just started as I never had to pay for the swap however I agreed to the uncharge. The omelet had three of four tiny 1/4" cubes of tomato and very little feta. The side of tomato slices were very thin and skimpy. There were not worth $1 by themselves let alone an uncharge instead of the potatoes that come with the meal. I told all of this to the waitress "Kassie" who didn't care to hear it. $20 with a coffee. I will have to think twice before stopping hear again.

Eben L.

Yelp
I grew up going here, when a man named Brownie used to cook right in front of you and the legendary waitress named Ina would make you feel at home. I stopped going for a long time but recently started getting breakfast again...and it's gotten better in recent years. The homefries are probably my favorite you can get at a diner around here, the staff is personable and friendly, and the experience is always positive. I'm glad I found the Florence Diner again.

Lisa L.

Yelp
Great diner! Great service and great food and atmosphere! Love this place! Highly recommend!

Williams M.

Yelp
the food is really good the packages are huge and worth the price and the place has a nice emergency some of the peope there are really nice but the only thing that I didn't like was one interaction with one of the severs she didn't want to take mi card because it had a sticker of the movie superbad the Hawaii drive license one and she asume that the card could be a stole card witch I found some what racist. But the food was good and at a good price and the outside area looks nice too

Michael M.

Yelp
Friendly service, great food! We enjoyed the ability to put anything you want into pancakes - chocolate and peanut butter in our case.

Susanna M.

Yelp
I've been going here since college (25 years ago) and it's my favorite diner on earth. It's like going back in time in a good way in their small, train car restaurant. The service is incredible. On my second visit in a row over two days the waitress already knew me and gave me my same booth. It's always packed but turnover is pretty quick. Prices are very reasonable and the menu is extensive. If you've fasted the night before or are just really hungry, their pancake(s) are literally the size of a dinner plate. Every time I end up in the Pioneer Valley from CA it's my first stop.

Laura C.

Yelp
This is a decent spot for a quick breakfast. My food was cold and not too flavorful, but I got a basic meal. Still worth a visit for an affordable meal.

Andres M.

Yelp
This is what I would call the actual definition of an old school American Diner. Amazing hospitality, amazing Food, Amazing portions, and Amazing Price! I strongly suggest pancakes with peanut butter chips! Honestly the best pancakes I have ever had. If I'm ever back in Massachusetts, I'm making this my first stop when I'm back.

Ada R.

Yelp
The place was full, so I guess people like it, but for us it was less than OK. The service was OK, but not outstanding, the ambiance is typical 50's diner - which is nice, but the place needs some clean-up. The food was below par.

Paul Francis M.

Yelp
Stopped in for a small breakfast after driving in the county to pick up a used lawnmower. I ordered two scrambled eggs with cheese and wheat toast. While waiting I watched this giant pancake walk past me with a large portion of blueberries on top. Probably would have ordered that if I didn't have a bowl of cereal this morning. Ether way the place is clean and inviting, lovely display of old diner speakers, a true diner feel. Food came out reasonably quick. My grandfathers over easy eggs were "cooked to perfection!" My scrambled eggs were equally as good. The wheat toast was fresh and tasted home made, a delightful bite! Only negative aspect was the server looked like she needed a break. Stayed up too late or not hydrated in my opinion. She needed a kick of energy but still did a good job.

James W.

Yelp
Fantastic place, fantastic food, fantastic prices, fantastic service. Just a pleasant place to dine.

Scott S.

Yelp
Miss Flo's is back! Stopped in for lunch. Thanksgiving Day sandwich is a treat. Bread spread with stuffing, good supply of white meat turkey, side of cranberry sauce and turkey gravy for dipping. Delicious! Excellent service.

Emily D.

Yelp
Great old school diner. They have plenty of parking in the back lot and you seat yourself. They had a big enough menu, but not too overwhelming. I had the turkey, bacon, lettuce and tomato wrap with onion rings. The turkey was great and the onion rings were nice and crispy. The prices were very reasonable too. Looking forward to returning on a future trip.

Luke G.

Yelp
The food there is very good and it is quite a stand out form it's competition in the area.

Boss E.

Yelp
Terrible service . Had to sit myself . Had to ask for a menu . Tried to ask for a beverage and got ignored ended up leaving.

Peter D.

Yelp
The Alamo: Two eggs any way you'd like them on top of a corn muffin, topped with beef chili and cheese sauce. Why order it? Because breakfast is the most important meal of the day. I remember The Alamo, but not for the reason you'd think (diarrhea), but because it was delicious, and because I had awful order envy when one of my companions was brave enough to go for it. Then again, I got the homemade corned beef hash, which was nothing to sneeze at either. Oftentimes homemade corned beef has pales in comparison to the canned stuff, but Aunt Flo does it right. (I call her Aunt Flo because we're basically family at this point, but she's still Miss Flo to you.) If they'd only fix the jukebox and keep a booth open for me all the time so I didn't have to wait, this place would be perfect.

Mandy D.

Yelp
I can't say good enough about this restaurant!! I ordered the strawberry cheese cake pancakes and 3 egg omelet with 3 strips of bacon toast and home fries. First of all the pancakes are amazing and huge. the omelette was insanely delicious. I went inside with my five-month-old son and the lady carried the food out for me so I didn't have to juggle everything. it was such a nice and kind gesture. This is now my favorite place!!!

Addy N.

Yelp
My wife and I just came back here after years of not coming. The food was amazing, service was great. They were extremely busy and all of the waitresses were In great spirits. The reason I couldn't give five stars was because of one thing. The manger/owner. She was constantly snapping on her staff, making condescending and embarrassing comments to her waitresses in front of the whole restaurant. She has a bitter attitude that brings the whole environment of the diner down. As a manager in food service let me tell you, when you're rude to your staff, it effects the whole experience. I would come back for the food and the staff but I can only watch this woman mistreat her staff so many times. I hope she changes her attitude.

Dorothy W.

Yelp
Some of the kindest staff and some of the most classic diner food. A pioneer valley must have.

Al H.

Yelp
One of the better breakfast places I've ever been to... the food was delicious (and reasonably priced) and the service was very friendly and fast. Love the retro decor (including the table jukeboxes). Can't wait to go here again the next time we're in the area.

Dave C.

Yelp
I've been ok'ing here for years, from going with family to friends to myself. I ways make sure I'm there before 11am so I can get the Belgian strawberry waffle. This place has a very old school feel, you can sit in a booth or at the " bar ". Each booth has a small quarter operated music box to select music from. It used to be just table Side but now the music plays through the whole place. If your looking for a old school diner to come get something to eat I highly recommended the miss flo's diner

Charles A.

Yelp
Has really gone down hill lately. Very slow service. I was the only one at the counter and the waitress cleaned off the counter and all the stool tops before getting around to taking my order. When the food finally arrived, the eggs (& everything else) were cold.

Jay B.

Yelp
We were driving through on a Sunday afternoon and decided a whim for lunch at Miss Florence Diner. Happily, they have gluten-free bread and buns! My daughter, with celiac, had gluten-free French toast and ate them up with no issue. My wife, no dietary restrictions, had chicken fried steak breakfast (steak was done well but, gravy was ok and she was disappointed with home fries. I, also no restrictions, had burger and fries and found it cooked to perfection and portion was spot-on.
