"Miss Pixie's Whatnots Miss Pixie's has been a trove of a seemingly endless influx of vintage and unusual home furnishings since 1997. Frequent inventory turnovers due to estate sales and auctions make it a place to visit and browse often. From mid-century dining tables to pine cabinets to quirky accessories like wooden signs, beer steins, old schoolroom posters, and Hot Wheels cars, the shop can help to accentuate any type of home."

I’m guessing they recently moved since the earlier pictures were taken because it’s definitely not what I expected. Don’t get me wrong it’s really cute, the people working there are friendly, including who I presume is the eponymous Miss Pixie since someone called her that and they have a lot of neat stuff But it is Way smaller than the pictures would have you believe. Still don’t regret coming out here.

Google
Miss Pixie’s directed by the joyful Pixie is a top resource. The new space is more redefined yet the terrific Pixie “finds” still abound. Pixie has an eye not prevalent in today’s design community. Terrific prices, fantastic merchandise. Pixie becomes an instagram addiction as new items appear every day. Terrific pop ups as well. Pixie created a community - not many may state this.

Google
Quirky store with a mix of vintage and refurbished pieces. I like the vibe and I feel like you need to watch their IG religiously to scoop up the treasures! Pricing was a bit inconsistent but not unreasonable for a city antique shop.

"Miss Pixie's" is a landmark and beloved DC Institution. Managed and Owned by the constantly involved Miss Pixie. Here one will behold Lots of finds, including: Old and new Vintage and antique Mid century last and onwards on towards midcentury 21st Century Some current Lancaster wood craftsmanship Christmas ornaments at Advent Season Art and furnishings Things to live by and things to help one live well. And as well, at "Miss Pixie's", there is always much to take- in at street- level; in the always redesigned store- front window. Enclosed, are a few photographs of the wonderful pieces I have discovered at "Miss Pixie's".

Google
Way smaller than last place. Not a lot of stuff to look at. And staff said no bathrooms. (Where do they go potty)? I’m a tourist. I walked 20 minutes to get there. Then nothing to look at and no bathrooms. Had to go to the disgusting bathrooms at McDonalds. Last location was better. Probably will never go back

Anything you want or didn’t know you needed exists inside of this shop. Snagged a few cards and a good piece of art from here before. There’s a cool bin of old photographs that’s fun to dig through and see the dates they were taken. Will always make time to stop when I’m in town.

Google
Lots of cool stuff to see here! You can really spend a lot of time going through all the vintage postcards and pictures. Definitely a neat place to check out!

Google
One of the truest gems in Washington, DC--a city sadly pricing out anything not corporate and boring af. The store is an absolute delight, a fantasy-land, a burst of joy in an ever more desolate world. And Pixie herself is an absolute icon, a treasure beyond measure. Treat yourself and enjoy!!

Yelp
Great store. Nice staff. Selection changes quickly so visit often. Weekends can get very busy. Try a weekday if you can.

Yelp
Purchased two amazing vintage art pieces here. Lovely curation, selection, and customer service, and the prices are very reasonable. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Cyndy's Bottom Line: Fun place to shop! *Open everyday 11:00-6:30pm *A boutique antique shop with eclectic home furnishings, vintage furniture, and everything else. *Street parking

Yelp
Since my first visit back in 2013, Miss Pixie's remains a must-stop every time I'm in Washington, DC. They do such an incredible job curating pieces; I'd love to spend a day shadowing the owners so I could know what that process is like. Things that caught my eye on my recent visit were Wizard of Oz edition Mr. Potato Heads, a gorgeous chef's block, retro bar, beautiful dressers and really cool kitchen chairs. Wow, I love this place!

Yelp
Very cool place. Small vintage finds. Cool stuff to make art with . Cool loose chandelier crystals , buttons, photographs, books, wine stoppers, stickers, cards, maps. Very cool!

Yelp
Very cool vintage store right on 14th Street NW. Yuppies galore. It was both exciting and overwhelming inside with so much merchandise and closely placed together tables and furniture. Books for $2, posters, vinyl records, magazines, housewares, fancy plates, garden decor, coasters, greeting cards, vintage postcards for $1, tables, chairs, bookcases, and so much more. The prices range from "affordable" to "are you serious?" Worth a peek, especially on its ostensibly rotating inventory. Cookies at the entrance! Overall, good vibes.

Yelp
One show I can't get enough of is, Flea Market Flip. I'd say Miss Pixie's has some of the most unique furnishings, from a flea market find. When I'm looking for something vintage or just strolling down 14th street, Miss Pixie's is a store I frequent. For years, I've been a regular; I've purchased small furniture, vintage magazines, albums and books to name a few. The staff are friendly and the prices are fair. Miss Pixie's gets my strong recommendation for vintage finds.

Yelp
Okay so idky but I thought thrift stores would've been a bit more reasonably priced but I guess I was wrong. It like if I am going to drop bread on something, shouldn't I just buy brand new? I would come back here for the nice antique pieces I would like to have in my home because they really did have good antique items! The place was in a hip area and they had good items that they get when they bid from an auction. My husband was busy sorting through the Pokémon cards which kept him busy while I went through the rest of the store lol! They had cool typewriters too! Def check it out for unique items!

Yelp
I love this store, truly. It's a fun little place to look around.... Just look definitely not buy. It's pretty expensive honestly. But here's the thing- why is the staff so mean? Every time I go in there I'm like.... Judged by them. I went in with a few friends and they said the same thing. They should probably shape up this behavior. Once I was being glared at by the one staff member and so I said "hi" and she said " I was just staring at you" and I said "yeah that was a little weird". I know this might not sound bad but it was strange. They better shape up this behavior.

Yelp
We've ordered a some of Miss Pixie's custom furniture pieces a few years ago, which are high quality and a great value! Our table, bench and shelf have lasted for a while, look nice and are still affordable. So when I was looking for a second dining table, I knew right away that we'd order again for Miss Pixie's. Pixie's went above and beyond with their service! The table initially didn't fit through our doorway and Pixie's worked really hard with us to figure out a solution. They were incredibly responsive and flexible, and really made the problem much easier to manage by being so personable and helpful. I think this could of customer dedication is hard to find and highly recommend Pixie's!

Yelp
Horribly overpriced nothing you can't find at a goodwill or other local (fairly priced) thrift stores, which makes the rude staff that much more appalling (goodwill customer service could lap this sorry bunch any-day). Three people working none of them can be bothered to even look up. Better selections, prices, and SERVICE when you go almost anywhere else.

Yelp
I'll say immediately that Pixie, is stunning and her store/selection is great. I purchased a large green leather Chesterfield sofa for a little over a grand and a coffee table book. Because of covid, they offered free 'contactless delivery' - which actually turned out to be a phone call to say that they'd literally sat the sofa and the book on the stairs outside of my apartment building. When I got downstairs, the delivery man looked at me, I asked why the couch was on the stairs and he closed the door and drove away. While I love the store, I probably won't go back. It's apparent to me that good service stops at the door at Miss Pixies, and I'd much rather spend my dollar with someone that appreciates it.

Yelp
Stumbled upon Miss Pixie's and something just called for me to go in. Surprisingly larger than I initially thought, inside it is charming with everything from beautiful and intricate furniture and housewares to books, artwork, and even vinyl records - pretty sure Ariel's whosits and whatsits galore were all in this little vintage heaven. Even if you're not looking for anything specific, it's definitely worth a little looksie if you have some time. Miss Pixie's seems to have just a little something for everyone all inside one bright, pink building.

Yelp
The store has so many great knickknacks, art pieces, and furniture pieces! The best is the huge selection of cards at the front is the store, they have the most funny and unique selection.

Yelp
So the first few thoughts that go through your head when a big pink truck from Miss Pixies pulls up to your house: 1-OMGERD, it's so pink.. 2-I am an adult now, I haz furniture!! 2-High five to whoever hired these tall and good looking movers (ladies and gentlemens, just trust me on this one and let's just add they are really nice too)... Going to Miss Pixie was one of the easiest furniture buying experiences of my life. Say good bye to assembling a Dombas particle board Ikea table backwards in 3-24 hours with nothing but an allen wrench, vodka, and five bottles of crazy glue, and say hello to an affordable farm table (yes, even with delivery which will cost you about $35 within DC) and benches to sit on that was purchased the day before, and delivered on time as promised. I have walked in this store numerous times after brunch to mainly sober up while looking at funky antiques finds. If you have time to hunt, you dig up some amazing jewelry, trinkets and glassware here. Lots of stuff from the mod era. Only issue is that things are stacked on top of each other ( not in a hoarders kinda way but in a more efficient manner) and you literally have to dig. Each visit here I was kind of coveting the many farm table style dining tables they had (as a side note you can even pre order your farm table here and have it custom designed) and one day I finally bit the bullet and purchased a long sought after dining room farm table with cute benches to sit on. The table was six feet long and under $200! Deal! After I picked out the table, the process took five minutes, placed my order with the friendly staff, scheduled a delivery time for the next day, and the rest is history. I celebrate the new addition of this furniture by having a really large dinner party that night. It's great to have adult furniture and friends!

Yelp
Love this store! It's just fun to walk around in, they have a little bit of everything. Last year I bought a dresser from them and it is my favorite piece of furniture. I needed it delivered and they did so on time- painless, easy process.

Yelp
Miss Pixie's is a DC classic. It's in the heart of bustling U Street District and one of DC's most beloved furniture/antique stores. They have several large rooms filled with used and new items to decorate your house with. They also buy furniture in case you're sick of no shows on Craigslist.

Yelp
Happy customer with a new bookshelf! Walked in knowing exactly what I wanted from a previous visit to the store a few weeks ago. The process was very smooth, and the customer service was great. Delivery was even made within 2 hours of purchase to Silver Spring.

Yelp
*SWOON* I think I've fallen in love with at least one piece in this store. And after carefully browsing with (yes) groceries from Whole Foods, yoga mat, and wool jacket (after taking it off since it was so warm today) around the store (and no! i did not knock anything over - I was very delicate), I documented 2-3 items I want to check-out again. Perhaps I will even purchase one, if I can figure out how to get it home! And thanks to mobile technology, I already got my bf's two cents as I browsed. He's quite particular, and loves value as much as I do, and he was even impressed (virtually) by the selection of this store. - Useful, but artful selection - Fair-sounding prices (accessible, and only moderately more than IKEA) - Super friendly staff! And tape measures in a bowl at the counter p.s. this shoppe & this stretch of 14th very much reminds me of Valencia in SF! p.s.s. i know, i know! it's *SO* inappropriate for me to compare a shoppe such as this to IKEA, but yes, i just did that. Yelp
Very cool spot with a lot of eclectic things. Best part is it's quality retro items at reasonable prices. Staff there are friendly, approachable and helpful!

Lisa R.

Yelp
Ridiculously overpriced furniture and knickknacks. They label everything as "midcentury modern" as that would excuse the insanely high prices. $65 for a world globe you can find at Goodwill for $2.95 and a Plastic Framed mirror for $85! A chest if drawers for a mere $895! They must be raking it in.

George M.

Yelp
If i could i would give it 5² stars. I really enjoyed learning about the curation of pieces. I came in and was greeted by a great smile by the red haired girl. She was extremely professional kind charming and helpful, What more could you want from a salesperson! I almost felt bad cause I came in and she was working so hard and I hope I didn't interrupt her flow. I came in for a vintage vase, and I left with a smile. I was tempted to add some pokemon cards and would have if my budget wasnt only for my wife's birthday lol

Yelp
My colleague and I found this out by accident when one of the restaurants we wanted to go for lunch was closed. Anyhow, I thought this was going to be a hum-drum used store, but I was impressed with the goodness inside. They sell everything from antique desks, furniture, vintage toys, model airplanes of defunct airlines, as well as VINYL RECORDS!!! The vinyl record collection is hidden in the back and its about six shelves full of music from 60s-90s. You really need to take your time going through the stash, but I was able to find a couple of rarities . . . patience is the key.

Yelp
I don't like Miss Pixie's, and that's actually pretty interesting because I love vintage shopping and I'm not that discouraged by higher prices. I guess others have gotten interesting finds here? I've been a couple of times at this point and there's never been anything that has piqued my interest. At the same time, the prices are so ridiculous that it actually has made me laugh before. Examples: a matchbook for $1 (many of them used, some of them actually matchless); random baseball cards for $1; anything that's a painting or that hangs on a wall is like $800--no matter how garish. Maybe it's because in my grad school days I would scour Goodwills for gems (good stress reliever) but this place seems relatively low in inventory. It makes sense for it to be curated since space is valuable in this location. For that reason, I was surprised the one time I thought I'd finally get something here--I went looking for candles and an attendant told me they didn't have any at all. I ended up finding some by myself quite easily by walking around, but...strange. If you can make this place work for you, then cool. I can't imagine paying $300 for some broken down stool or $40 for literally a scrapped up, old, metal folding chair.

Yelp
Oh this place is so cute. A friend told me about it so I came to find some furniture and although didn't end up purchasing any, had so much fun exploring! They have a great variety of different vintage items and the store is pink?! Absolutely adorable.

Yelp
Wow, after coming in here, I hardcore wish I had an empty house to furnish! I love my house and all, but it would've turned out way more awesome with Miss Pixie's help. This place is a sensory overload of vintage awesome. Tons of neat, old furniture, with bigger pieces ranging from around $150-$400 and smaller stuff like chairs, stools, lamps, etc. in the $25-$50 range - cheaper than most cookie cutter furniture from regular stores, and way cooler! There's a ton of pieces made of worn wood, if you're into the distressed look. Check out all the little doors and drawers in the different desks. And read the tags - I discovered that some of the benches were once church pews! Think of all the delightfully unsavory things you could do on a church pew in the privacy of your own home! Once you've got all the basics out of the way, there's billions of things to accessorize with! Teacups, books, saddles, beer steins, vintage guitars, old schoolroom posters, printing press blocks, artwork, dishes, somebody's ancient wooden bowling trophies, I could go on and on! Also awesome: they're dog friendly! There was a guy with a dog when I walked in for the first time and I was like, "Oo this is awkward! Will they ask him to leave??" And then I saw him feed his dog...one of the treats from a bowl on a vintage table. Totally bringing my dog next time. Side note: Miss Pixie's also makes furniture purchasing easy by supplying free Miss Pixie's measuring tapes for the taking. They're sprinkled around the store in bowls, much like the dog treats.

Yelp
Cool place for used furniture. They have a wide range of items from furniture to comic books. If you are on 14th, pop in for a quick look!
google avatar

Frances L.

Yelp
Extremely cool vintage decor with fabulous pieces. You will find at least one thing you want and the prices are incredibly cheap or resonable.
google avatar

Laura D.

Yelp
Miss Pixie's establishment is the best of the best. This vintage store is eclectic with a wide selection of ever-changing and completely unique products, and it is literally just the cutest thing on 14th St. A go-to place for furnishings (and whatnot) for sure.
google avatar

Yelp
I worked nearby and would often come on my lunch hour. Partly because the inventory changes often and you never know what you'll find. Mostly because after the first couple of times of being completely ignored, I made a game out of it and wanted to see if it would happen each time. It did. I have been inside this store double digit amount of times and have never been so much as acknowledged except for the one time I bought some paper lanterns, and even that interaction left much to be desired. As for the store itself, there are some interesting finds but it is way overpriced for the quality of a lot of the items. Some things may actually be worth the price because of how old and well made it is, but some things are clearly trying to pass. It seems as if there's some sort of yuppies tax for dummies who actually pay the asking price for a lot of that furniture. If you're genuinely shopping for antiques, this is not the place to go. Bottom line: The customer service is terrible and more than enough of a reason to avoid this place. After browsing the reviews, I'm far from the first person to say this so take a hint Miss Pixie...
google avatar

Terinee B.

Yelp
This plae is a pretty neat & trendy place to find interesting pieces that you probably won't be able to find anywhere. Even though I didn't purchase anything today, i know I'll be back to find that perfect piece!
google avatar

Liz D.

Yelp
Awesome selection and I had an amazing interaction with the owner. She's so sweet!! I went during a sale and they had a bunch of amazing finds for really reasonable prices.
google avatar

Laura M.

Yelp
Cute vintage place in D.C. that is pretty big and goes back far. Lots of cute furniture that I will probably never be able to afford because it was too expensive! The high prices paired with the fact that they mostly sold furniture and home decor is why I'm only giving 4 stars. Once I make a lot of money and buy a house I will probably come back and by a framed work of art of a chair, ha. they really do have unique pieces, and even if you can't afford any of their items, you should still check the store out!
google avatar

Vanessa B.

Yelp
We were hoping to find amazing things in this very cutely decorated shop. There were some fun items, and we did buy a few things, but it did not wow us as much as we had hoped. However, the sign did say they receive shipments every Thursday and things don't last long. It happened that we visited on the Friday after they were closed the day before for Independence Day, so we may have hit them on an off week due to the holiday. We plan to revisit if we ever get back to DC. The best pieces in my opinion were furniture and framed art, but they do not ship, and we couldn't carry things back on the plane.
google avatar

Gayle G.

Yelp
Don't go by the info under "hours" as far as location on their website. Miss Pixies has moved. They aren't in Adams Morgan anymore, they moved "down the street" to Dupont. Look for the hot pink awning (as if you can 't notice that). Miss Pixies is a neat antique store. All kinds of unique items are for sale here: a bus stop sign (?), tables, a love seat (they were calling it a love chair), dressers, old movie posters and more. If you are looking for furnishings or decor with a modern feel but are truly old school, this store is the place to look. The staff is really nice, too.
google avatar

Cory C.

Yelp
Really neat place. Sells a variety of vintage items and presents its own unique aesthetic.

Juliet M.

Yelp
SCAM. Way overcharging for cheap crap. Posted a used bar cart for $300 that was $120 originally at the container store.
google avatar

Fenny L.

Yelp
OH DEAR MOTHER OF ALL THAT IS GOOD AND FABULOUS...I HAVE FOUND THE HOLY GRAIL! OK, perhaps it's not the Holy Grail, but with furniture *this cute* do you really need a stinky ol' grail? We just recently bought a house, and while the house is very 70's architecturally, our aesthetic has always been retro, vintage 50's. What's a girl to do, right? So on a lovely Saturday, we decided to check out this area out, due to a write up about unique furniture stores in a previous Weekly Yelp (subscribe now!). We walked around when we spy the neon bright pink of Miss Pixies. Obviously, we had to go in. Within 30 seconds of stepping through the doorway, my husband spied a gorgeous, pristine condition, vintage 1940's brass bar-cart. He immediately whipped out his credit card, flagged a sales lady over, and paid for it right then and there (and proceeded to give everyone who dared to look at the bar-cart the evil eye). Why this possessive cave-manlyhood? Well, because we've been on the hunt for this type of bar-cart for months and they were all priced at $300+...this one was only $175 and in better condition then some that we've seen! WHAT A FIND! Which ended up being the mantra for our entire visit to Miss Pixies. Every 2 feet, we would spy something absolutely adorable and perfect and start squealing like little school girls. The peices were all in remarkable shape, and the prices really couldn't be beat (I didn't even feel the need to bargain down the price...and I ALWAYS bargain down the price at furniture stores!). The only reason why I didn't buy out the entire store was because 1) as previously stated, our house is very 70's so we have to be selective about what we buy or it'll be a hot tranny mess, 2) the car we drove wasn't big enough and 3) our new house is big, but not THAT big. Heh. And to top it off, the sales staff was SO SWEET! A little slow (my husband nearly had a stroke waiting for the sales ladies to put the "SOLD" sign on that bar-cart), but so personable and friendly and sweet that I wanted to take them out for drinks and become BFFs for life! Love love love Miss Pixie's. If you are ever there and see a little Asian girl screaming at the top of her lungs "MINE MINE MINE!!!" while hugging various pieces of furniture, please be sure to say hi to me!
google avatar

Yelp
So Miss Pixie's is apparently an institution, and I can see why -- there's a ton of cool stuff. But honestly, the prices are nuts, especially since a lot of their stuff is not in good condition. I don't mean old -- I mean like has stuff spilled on it, or you can see it's partially broken. Their prices are especially confounding since their competitors are much better priced. I ended up buying a desk at Simon Vintage and a chair at Millennium Decorative Arts for a fraction of the prices I saw at Miss Pixie's. Miss Pixie's is certainly worth a look, since its stuff has a lot of personality, but if you're seriously looking to buy, I would recommend taking a look at other vintage stores in the area.

Yelp
My first impressions of the store: wow! super cute. great displays. love the colors and holiday pieces. clean store. slightly over-priced stuff. woo for vintage. awesome - i found two chairs and took them up to the register. Convo at purchase: Me: these chairs are great, this store is great. so cool. is there anything you can tell us about these chairs? what are they called? Man at register: well, um.. it's just a design style, you know, lucite, we have a few others over there too (i look at others, not as good). --we check out-- I get home and decide to google the chairs because I thought they were interesting and had to have more detail than what the man told us - then i noticed tiny white stickers on each one with a name... and then a tiny engraving on the side of the chair... IKEA. Heart failure. How did I just get duped into buying ikea when i was so specifically not shopping there? I go to ikea website, the chairs are STILL on sale, available online. They're not even vintage ikea. Also, the price i paid in little miss pixie's was only $5 cheaper than buying them new from ikea. Even though I liked the chairs, I felt like the whole experience was a total sham. We drove back the next day to return them. Employees were nice, and after some persistence they helped me out in spite of their no-return policy. Convo at return: Woman: "She doesn't hide the fact that she sells ikea furniture" Me: If i wanted ikea i would go get furniture directly from ikea, that isn't used and scratched up. Also, the store is advertised as selling vintage, it says on the website that she gets unique things and goes to estate sales and stuff... Anyway... they allowed me to return the chairs, but sadly, my experience was negative.

Yelp
I remember the day I first met Miss Pixie. I was biking down U st and there, on the street, was a vision in pink. Pepto-Bismol shock me shock me shock me PINK. I was intrigued and so I popped in. For just a minute. Which turned into an hour. Which turned into return trips. I've been into a lot of junky thriftstores and seen a lot of crap being passed off as 'antiques.' So not the case here. Everything at Miss Pixie's has a touch of whimsy, serious quality, and a story of sorts behind it. She finds all her stuff by driving to estate sales around the country and she has an eye for that special 'somethin something' that'll look fabulous in your living room. Two of my favorite pieces ever from her store are a black wrought iron chair with beautiful detailing and a companion black and gold tasseled cushion ($45) and an antique desk chair with an indented seat that looks like it came from Anthropologie - a shocking $11. I was pretty sure it was mislabeled but they were so nice at the store they said I could have it for the price on the tag. That was two years ago and I've since moved to LA but Miss Pixies Furnishings and Whatnot (love that!) will always have a warm fuzzy place in my heart.
google avatar

Jessica K.

Yelp
I suspect that many people who shop here have never been to a garage sale or Big Lots. There's a lot of cool stuff, but be careful of what you're buying at what price. I saw a number of items that you can find at garage sales for a dime - folding chairs, dishes, jewelry stands - for prices that must be more than their original asking price. It turned me off of any of the bigger items.
google avatar

John C.

Yelp
I found Miss Pixie's through Lonely Planet, and because it seemed very highly rated on Yelp. The store itself is fun to look around and has some great stuff. Until you look at the prices. Compared to other vintage/consignment/antique stores in NOVA, Miss Pixie's is way, way overpriced. Used micro machines toy cars for five dollars each!? A beat-up Ikea expedit shelf for $225.00? That was when I pulled the BS flag and decided I wouldn't be coming here again. Miss Pixie's does have some very cool and very unique items. But the prices were way out of control. On the plus side, she does deliver which is a rarity in that line of business.
google avatar

Alicia G.

Yelp
Miss Pixie's is an incredible store filled to the brim with unique furniture. Phoebe from "Friends" would love it because it's the exact opposite of Pottery Barn, "where everyone ends up with the same stuff!" I recently purchased a farm table here which was priced just right. There's lots of other knicknacks besides furniture but you'd have to visit the store because the finds change weekly. Sad to report she's moving from this location but I'll surely follow wherever she sets up the new shop.

Yelp
When I think of Miss Pixie, I picture a southern woman in her 70s with a thick southern drawl, big sun hat on her head and mint julep in her hand, coaxing me to come into her store. "Come owne, hunay, come owne iiiiyn! Thank god I don't live nearby, because Miss Pixie would have a new best friend in me, buying every new thing she shipped in! Maybe she would give me unlimited mint juleps for my loyal patronage. Miss Pixie's is the perfect store for people of all tastes. There is something for everyone: a traditional tea pot, a modern bar stool, or a mid century dining table. Roaming through the store is such a feast for the eyes, with something at every turn beckoning you to buy it. I would think the items themselves also have southern accents. While some things can be a bit pricey for what they are ($90 for a quilt seems a bit high to me...hence 4 stars instead of 5), other things that I would think should be expensive are dirt cheap. I got a really beautiful and old tea pot and a set of cups and saucers for $15! And if you happen to be one of those people who loves old books, they sell them for $2 a pop. The furniture is all quality--very well preserved and beautiful looking. I am on the lookout for a cocktail cart, and I know Miss Pixie's will be where I find it. Patience honay, patience.

Yelp
I have been a fan of Miss Pixie's Furnishings and Whatnot for more than a decade. Her first store was around the corner from my Adams Morgan Home and our Adams Morgan home testifies to our visits to Pixies -- furniture and ephemera that is functional, unique, and fun. Let me try to list the treasures: moderne lamp; "bachelor's friend" sock holder; wooden signs announcing fresh fish, lunch, and breakfast. Photos of people we don't know. Industrial furnishings. Theater props. Prints by recognized artists. Of course we have also purchased the customary circus glassware, cowboy trays with matching barware, bowler swizzle - sticks... The list goes on... Recently we bought a small home in West Virginia. Once again, Pixie to the rescue -- Dining room table and chairs, sun room wicker, glassware, mid-century living room set, front porch furnishings. Done. (http://tinyurl.com/69xrf2) Bargains? You bet. Where else would I have furnished a house at these prices? Unique? Certainly. Not Crate&Barrel ... but, um, that's the point.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I have been coming here every few weeks since we moved here 4 months ago. You cannot beat miss pixies prices. We got two pieces at separate times - a vintage 1940s(?) cedar chest for around $150 and a Mid century vanity with mirror for $300 both were in flawless condition. Also you can't beat their delivery (if you're like us and do not have a van or truck) it's a fee of $35 to have two strapping and polite guys come deliver to you. Also their costumer service is on point - very friendly and helpful staff. We love you Miss Pixies!

Yelp
This is an awesome little shop on 14th street. I don't have a house so I have no need for the furnishings. BUT i do have a need for all their amazing stemware, snifters, and teacups. I bought an adorable two handle teacup for $3. It looked good enough for Anthropologie! Although Anthro would commit highway robbery and sell it for $18. The shop is a little eclectic and caters to hipsters (there was a bin of old photographs that they were selling for a $1 a piece...F-ing hipsters!). There are a bunch of funny greeting cards by the door and other odds and ends to peruse on a weekend. Someday when I have a house I will buy furniture from Miss PIxie's.

Yelp
I have a serious "thing" for quirky furniture. When I was buying stuff for my apartment, my only rule: no IKEA. I like absurd antiques and things with personality. This is why I love Miss Pixie's. I've never found any true bargains at Miss Pixie's: I'm sure her rent on 14th Street keeps her from putting any prices incredibly low. Still, there are usually a good number of lust-worthy pieces to be found. It's the perfect place to kill some time when you're in the area: you never know if you'll find that "something" that you've been dying for!
