Portland’s Most Anticipated Restaurant and Bar Openings for 2021 | Eater Portland

"After taking over the kitchen at Mississippi bar Psychic to sell noodle soups and Cambodian fried chicken, chef Diane Lam has put Sunshine Noodles on hiatus while she focuses on delivery-only fried chicken at Prey + Tell, but she says Sunshine will return in some form later this year; the precise location is unclear." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden

Google
Great food, very friendly owner. I'm just in town for few weeks and found this place within the first few days, loved the food so much that I've already ate there 5 time within a week and half... big portions, good prices, amazing flavors. Everything you want from a Thai restaurant! Bonus point for the Ramen, very tasty. Had several noodle dishes (if not all of them) and the pineapple fried rice, can't say a bad word about this place!

Trish B.

Google
Cute little off the wall asian restaurant. The staff is kind and will greet you with a smile! The food is absolutely delicious and yes HOT. Some places I've been to before the food was warm. I had the Yellow Curry with veggies and chicken and I am in love with this dish!! Also had the edamame for an appetizer

Teena T.

Google
Ordered their pad woon sen in Thai spicy and it's genuinely spicy. I teared up at one point, but it was so good. My server was honest and chill, too. I liked her. Highly recommend this spot.

Google
Went to see Miss Thai on a recommendation from a local and I was impressed with the tastes - great flavor and good amount of heat on the medium and hot dishes I tried. First the Tom Yum was amazing, savory zing and nice even heat, then the drunken noodles were delicious. My dinner companions enjoyed the Pad Thai and Basil fried rice, both of which looked delicious to me and was reportedly delicious. Definitely a nice find in this area for this visitor - I’d recommend checking it out for yourself

Google
This was my first time here and I really loved the place. The food was amazing and the staff were wonderful. The waitress did a great job with our orders and making sure everything was good and made sure we had everything we needed to pack up to go. I will definitely be back.

Google
I’ll start off this review with saying I’m not a person to try new types of food, but I wanted to take a chance. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with good and timely customer service. We ordered the Thai Fried Chicken Wings as an appetizer. They were delicious! They were perfectly seasoned, crispy, juicy, and the dipping sauce paired well with them! I ordered the Spicy Pork Tonkotsu Ramen. This was DELICIOUS! I have never tried actual ramen before, but this was exactly what I was expecting! The broth was slightly sweet, spiced perfectly, and had a deep rich flavor to it. The pork was fall apart tender. We also tried the Chicken Fried Rice which was very good. My only complaint is there wasn’t enough chicken added to it. My daughter ordered the Drunken Noodles. I will say I’ve never tried a dish like this before, but it throughly shocked us at how good it was! It was hearty, seasoned well, and had the perfect amount of noodles to vegetables. The only downside to it was there wasn’t enough chicken added to this dish either. For drinks, I ordered the Lemonade which was not tart enough to my liking, and my daughter ordered the Strawberry Fruit Tea with Popping Boba. The drink looked milky and had a medicine like taste to it, unfortunately. We were able to get her some apple juice instead, thankfully, and I settled for water. Despite the small mishaps, the bottom line is I definitely recommend this place to try! The food is great, you get plenty of food for the prices, and the service was amazing. Give it a try!

Google
Our family is coming from Virginia Beach and I was so worried about losing all my good food spots. We tried Miss Thai not long after moving here. This place has the best Thai food I’ve ever had. I’ve never had a bad experience here and our family goes a lot. It was so unexpected to find my favorite Thai restaurant in Gulfport, MS but here we are!! 10/10

Matt G.

Google
Food was thairiffic(harharhar), some real thai dishes I haven’t seen on a menu in the states. Staff was very friendly and everything was perfect. My only regret…This is 2 hours from where we live!

Yelp
A Flavor-Filled Favorite: Miss Thai & Ramen Noodles Café  We had takeout yesterday from one of our all-time favorite spots Miss Thai & Ramen Noodles Café and once again, they delivered a symphony of flavors that left us smiling from the first bite to the last spoonful. Red Curry with Chicken  We ordered this with medium heat, and it was spot on. The curry itself was a luscious blend of coconut milk and spices, perfectly balanced and deeply satisfying. Generous cuts of bamboo shoots, carrots, green beans, and fragrant basil added texture and freshness. This dish is hands-down my favorite curry...comforting, bold, and beautifully layered. This is a must order! Drunken Noodles with Beef A true crowd-pleaser! The wide rice noodles were stir-fried to perfection in a rich, savory sauce, mingling with carrots, cabbage, broccoli, bell peppers, onions, and basil. Every bite was packed with flavor and just the right amount of heat. If you love bold, umami-rich dishes, this one's a must. Tom Kha with Chicken This coconut-based soup was a dream...creamy, slightly spicy, and delicately tart. The balance was impeccable, never too sweet or sour. The lemongrass added a fragrant, citrusy lift that made the whole dish sing. It's the kind of soup that warms you from the inside out. A Few Tips Bring cash if you can, there's a small surcharge for credit card payments. If you'd like condiments to go (like chili oil), there's a $0.25 charge, but trust me, it's worth it. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, which makes the experience even better. Whether you're dining in or grabbing takeout, Miss Thai & Ramen Noodles Café is a gem. Flavorful, authentic, and consistently delicious...this place never disappoints.

Yelp
Little hole in the wall off Dedeaux Rd. Food is good. Just a heads up, they don't offer military discount.

Dom B.

Yelp
Service is great, and the food is AMAZING and made fresh everyday. Absolutely recommend to try at LEAST one time if you live in the orange grove area.
google avatar

Mercy H.

Yelp
The owner is super sweet always have a smile on her face no matter what. The food is delicious made with loveee. The curry ramen is top tier add a little chili oil ooo so yummy!
google avatar

Anne L.

Yelp
Casual place with options! Definitely a favorite! Great price, great portion - I can eat a bit in one sitting and this was perfect - content but don't hate myself. Friendly staff. It was recommended to me to come for ramen and while it's very good, the tonkatsu ramen I got is not quite the same in taste compared to what I had in Japan. The meat did have a great charred "wok" taste that told me I needed to be back to try their Thai food. The decor suggests they are more Thai than Japanese so when I came back for the spicy Thai fried rice...OMG! Yumm! It's a smidge salty for my taste but didn't stop me from cleaning the plate. I was a bit hesitant with thai spice level and ordered mild and it wasn't spicy at all so med should be okay for next time. And if you've never tried Thai coffee or Thai tea - this is a good place to try!

Yelp
First time, Food is good, try yellow curry and fry dumplings. Little expensive. Taste is good, very authentic Thai curry.
google avatar

David B.

Yelp
I was looking for authentic Thai Food in the area and I found it. Service was excellent, very nice family run restaurant.
google avatar

Troy J.

Yelp
Green Curry is weak runny and yellow, pretty sure it's from a packet. Asked for 2 items to be left out, server added them anyway and said "oops". Crab Rangoon are store bought frozen, served still frozen in center. Asked to just microwave for a minute. 15 minutes later had to ask about them. Came barely warm. No one else was there, so wasn't busy. Nice girls working, Just incompetent. 1/2 hour later we stopped somewhere else to eat.
google avatar

Mirella R.

Yelp
Huge portions, family owned and it's a great selection. They get busy on weekends and the ambience is very casual. They have fast service. Only down side is they don't have a soda machine so only canned sodas, no refills. Everything else makes up for it though.
google avatar

Annabelle P.

Yelp
Amazing food and fantastic service. One of those great hole-in-the-wall restaurants, if you go once, you are going back again and again.
google avatar

Victoria M.

Yelp
Tried this place out and it was amazing. The food quality was perfect especially for the price. I ordered two huge miso pork ramen bowls, the steamed dumplings (5) and one order of the thai milk tea with boba for less than $50 Everything was delicious!!!! I couldn't recommend a better thai spot. 20/10 fast and friendly service and the restaurant looked very clean and tidy. Will definitely be going back here.

Jack H.

Yelp
Nice, quick service. Reasonable prices. We had the tonkatsu and drunken noodles. I got the noodles Thai spicy and, unlike most places it actually was spicy. Almost made me cry - just the way I like it. We both had leftovers for dinner. Boba tea was good too.

Jonathan G.

Yelp
To start, the wontons were amazing, some of the best I've ever tried. Crispy rolls were mediocre unfortunately; they had no spring rolls. The boba was great! Possessed a strong milky texture filming the tongue with greatness! My accompanying yelp reviewer ordered the Tonkutsu ramen, here are her thoughts- "ramen was yummy, 7/10" I myself had a chicken Thai noodle soup. The waitress gave us a spice rack that gives an excellent punch to palate. The environment lacked cultural depth. However the waitress was great she performed regular checkups on us and the other customers giving a sense of importance. I hate feeling unimportant. Overall 7.5/10 would only come back for the wontons.

Yelp
Amazing food, no doubt about it. My partner, daughter, & I had an early dinner there. The server was nice, but a little slow. The food was a little on the pricey side, but overall a good experience. A hidden gem on the coast!
google avatar

Karina R.

Yelp
I was in the Gulfport area so I decided to try this place out! I was enticed by all the food pictures since everything looked good! I ordered drunken noodles and a Thai coffee boba drink. Both were delicious. I ordered to-go, and i received my food in a timely manner. The dining area is very clean. I will be coming back soon to try different items.
google avatar

Andrea H.

Yelp
The food is great. Efficient service! Pleasant staff. The restaurant is quaint and welcoming.

Yelp
Incredible, authentic, delicious Thai food. Great portions and super friendly staff. Cannot recommend enough!

Yelp
Dine in for 2 plus a baby. I don't think our bills have been more than $50. We've tried a couple things, the shrimp tempura has been the best anywhere thus far therefore a must. It's nice to have homemade gyoza, the ramen was good ( I had to get mild to share with my baby) only thing with ramen is that it's heavy, so you can't eat too much of it at once. The noodles were good (but again would of been better with a kick to it) the fried banana was different, good try. The beef noodle soup was amazing. I wanted to point Out that they had one server, sweet as can be, bless her heart. She does it all and the food still didn't take too long to come out. She's running around sweating and still manage to smile throughout. We've been here twice and we won't stop supporting them. Please give them a try.

Yelp
I was so excited when I got my food that I totally forgot to take a picture We ordered our food to go, I got the chicken noodle soup and my daughter got curry. The food was HOT and freshly made. It was packaged very nicely, my noodles and herbs and toppings were in one bowl, and the broth and chicken were in a tall container, so when I poured the broth and chicken over my noodles I still had half a container of broth and chicken left and that filled me up!! I used the rest of the broth and chicken for a whole other meal. The curry comes with a lot of curry so order and extra side of rice for lunch the next day! Everything was DELICIOUS I'm already planning on going back this weekend and trying something else! Probably the ramen! It doesn't look like much on the outside, but the inside will surprise you! It's very nice and very clean, and the service was fantastic!
google avatar

Yelp
This place has the very best Fried rice.. Shrimp or Chicken even plain veggies! Highly recommend stopping in for lunch as they have lower prices! Their Ramen soups are delicious. Their Shrimp rolls yummy yummy greatness! I can't say enough about how delicious their food is.

Felicity R.

Yelp
It was a 10/10. Amazing ramen and super friendly staff. Will definitely be returning.
google avatar

Anthony C.

Yelp
Nice little hole in the wall location. Great service. Food is made fresh to order and delivered quickly! We had the fried rice, chicken soup, pad Thai and green curry. All portions are very large. Thai hot is no joke so be careful! Prices are fair. Will be a regular place on our rotation!
google avatar

Tommy N.

Yelp
I've been eyeing this place for awhile now since I'm a big foodie so my girlfriend and I decided to give this place a try since we love Thai food! We've dined in at every Thai place on the gulf coast and this hole in the wall may be our new favorite place! Ordered shrimp buns as appetizers which were amazing. My girl got the Tonkatsu Ramen which was the best ramen I've ever had! We were really surprised on the quality of all the ingredients and yummy broth. I ordered the drunken noodles with shrimp and I destroyed it in less than 5 minutes I ordered it hot and it was the perfect spice level for me but a bit too hot for my girl so keep in mind if your sensitive to spicy foods or love spicy foods like me! We also ordered the chicken yellow curry which was great as well. The ramen stole the show though. So if you're on the gulf coast, please give this place a try! Amazing food with amazing service

Barbara C. A.

Yelp
Ate there last week. Great food!!! Nice staff!! The ambiance is not anything special at all. But the food makes it worth it. Going back for takeout today.
google avatar

Trey U.

Yelp
Wonderful place! They serve some great food from this humble restaurant. I had the Thai dumplings (steamed), spicy tonkatsu, and my favorite "Basil" aka pad kra pao. Even though the ramen wasn't super traditional, it's probably the best the MS coast has seen. The pad kra pao was outstanding and maybe the best I've had! When they brought it to me, I knew I was in for something special. There was rich, dark sauce on the bottom and a beautiful red ring of chili oil clearly visible on top. I don't know if they made it traditional because I used its correct name, but it was perfection! Very nice, warm staff. I will be back next time I visit.

Yelp
I loved this place and definitely coming back soon! The lady was so nice and I love how they had menus that were easy to understand! I tried the Thai Coffee milk boba tea and the shrimp rolls and they were amazing! My boba tea was perfect! Not too strong, it was just right! Affordable place to eat!
google avatar

Alasha G.

Yelp
It's really ok... if you ask for spicy, YES IT IS SPICY... sadly, that's all lt is. Not much flavor, really saucy and little too sweet but somewhat edible after adding lots of soy sauce... I have had wayyyyyyy better pad thai. I think I'll come back and try it with the medium spicy because it's kinda hard to eat.

Cole H.

Yelp
Ordered my food Togo was told it would be 25 minutes sat there for an 45 minutes. My food was out and bagged up for 20 minutes while both servers walked past me with only 3 tables. Terrible service and terrible servers, rude and acted busier than they were.
google avatar

Ron R.

Yelp
Nice quiet spot. You would pass right by it if you wasn't looking. Enjoyed the great food.
google avatar

Corey D.

Yelp
Great service, great food, and comfortable atmosphere. Definitely worth a try whether it's ramen or Thai food
google avatar

Victoria H.

Yelp
We got this to go on a road trip and it was AMAZING!! The green curry was so good!! Highly recommend
google avatar

Rich B.

Yelp
"Thai hot" is REALLY hot. I'll stick with "hot". The food is excellent. It takes a while, though. Best Thai restaurant in the area.
google avatar

Lomax R.

Yelp
The ramen here was delicious. By far the best ramen I have had to date in south Mississippi. It blows the competition out of the water. It is a nice hole-in-the-wall that is easily overlooked but sorry to be missed out on. Recommend the spring rolls, cooked to perfection. Also the spicy tonkotsu was made just right and the portion size was humongous. Well worth the price. Highly recommended.
google avatar

Jessica F.

Yelp
So awesome! Unfortunate that it is not as known as it should be. Great service. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Kerri H.

Yelp
What a great find! The service was quite friendly and the food was flavorful. I will definitely be back.

Jacob T.

Yelp
Im always a little hesitant about trying new restaurants, but this time I'm glad I did. First off the customer service is top notch, these folks are so nice and respectful. I got the spicy kimchi ramen and it was as amazing! The flavors was on point and the pork was so tender it literally melts in your mouth.
google avatar

Patricia E.

Yelp
Food is delicious. This has become our go to spot when my daughter is visiting. The ramen is amazing. Very flavorful and makes you want to continue eating.
google avatar

Shae M.

Yelp
Went with a friend for lunch today for the first time. It was small but lots of people. Sat immediately and the server was very nice. We each got Drunken Noodles and shared a Miss Thai fried rice. Everything was amazing. I much prefer this place over the other thai place in Gulfport. The Thai Tea and Coffee are great too. Will definitely be back soon

Maria A.

Yelp
I've seen a lot of people recommend this place on Facebook and had to give it a try! I visited with my mom and we were very pleased with our experience. It's a nice little hole in the wall place and seems like it's family owned. There's not many tables because of the small space (luckily we came right before lunch rush). We ordered the crispy rolls for an appetizer (not pictured, we were hungry). She ordered the Tonkotsu ramen and I ordered the chicken drunken noodles at medium level spice. The portions were big! And the food was delicious. The young lady serving and running the front also brought us fried wontons complimentary which was such a surprise, very sweet. The ramen here is the most authentic ramen I've had in Mississippi! Also the best! Everything was great. Service was nice. No complaints. Will be returning. Can't wait to try everything else on the menu!
google avatar

Shannon C.

Yelp
Super nice people and very tasty authentic Thai food! The Drunken noodles were our favorite. PK is the sweetest lady. They just moved here last year. Please give this little place a try! Very reasonable lunch specials too.
google avatar

Angie C.

Yelp
My kid and I came back again. I love that they have so many options so you get a different experience each time you go. Highly recommended.
google avatar

Brynne M.

Yelp
1,000 stars. Go eat at this place. People are so nice here. I was very impressed with their menu selection as well. The Tonkatsu ramen was absolutely delicious. I asked for chicken instead of pork and they were happy to substitute. Husband got the Miss Thai's Fried Rice hot and he said it was very good. It had 5 or 6 butterflied shrimp. I was going to get boba but was so stuffed, I couldn't imagine drinking anything.
google avatar

Ashley D.

Yelp
The food is delicious! The last few times I've been here I get the yellow curry. Staff is always welcoming and friendly and the food comes out fast!

Sara S.

Yelp
Great food, wonderful service! The ramen and curry were phenomenal, very authentic. Try to make a trip to this place at least twice a month.
google avatar

Jon G.

Yelp
Small little hole-in-the-wall place. Food is quite good. I'd rate their "Hot" as being on par with most places "Thai Hot". The lunch special is a particularly good deal. Highly recommended!

Tamara D.

Yelp
This was a last minute take out order. Food was ready quickly and tasted good. Beef Ramen broth could have been a little better but otherwise a good place to stop by
google avatar

Diane C.

Yelp
Very good food, Thai fried rice was excellent. The mango sticky rice was the best we have had in the states. The waitress was so friendly and had the dessert on the table with to go boxes for our leftovers, without us asking. Thai iced tea was very good too! It's a treasure in a out of the way place.
google avatar

J P.

Yelp
The best Thai food in the gulf coast. We had Pad Thai and Beef Thai Noodles, and they were honestly the best in the coast. Very clean and friendly staff. Def already had regulars; we will be regulars too!
google avatar

Stephanie H.

Yelp
Finally found a great ramen place on the coast. I can't wait to try everything on the menu. The pork jerk is like what I had in Thai Town in LA. Absolutely delicious.
