The 16 Best Restaurants in Laval, Quebec - Eater Montreal

"It’s a whole vibe at this 14,000-square-foot restaurant from The Lucky Bell Group (Le Blossom, Kamehameha Snack-Bar, Le Golden Dragon, Le Red Tiger) where the swanky aesthetic is as much of a draw as the sophisticated Asian fusion menu; don’t miss the inventive cocktails." - Erinn Blicher, Eater Staff

Fun drink selection and interesting decors. Some dishes are delicious, didn’t like the General TAO too salty and sweet. Generally good vibe and experience. Amy was our waitress and she was great!

Came here on a Friday night with no reservations, we were happy to be able to get a table. I gave this place a 1 star only because the waitress was really nice and also for the good music that they were playing, other then that the food was blah and the drinks were horrible. I got there signature sour drink that was listed on the front page of there drink menu, and what a disappointment the drink was filled with ice, and half of the drink was the foam, I literally has 3 sips and my drink was done. So I had to order myself another drink, I got myself a expresso martini and I can confirm that it was one of the worse I've had in MTL. Also for the food we got the veggie dumplings there was nothing special about these...I got myself the chicken teriyaki noodles, there was not really any flavors in it other then teriyaki sauce, it was 22$ and I felt like it wasn't even worth the price at all. Will I come back for the food? NO

Nice location to dine with companions for a merriment time. The music was adequate and so were the vibes. Our waitress Suzie is very sociable amiable and was always apt to serve.

Saw it’s been open for a while, finally get to try with my girl friends! Absolutely love the decoration and atmosphere. Menu works like a tapas, good portion depends on what you order. We loved everything we tried, the drink ‘treasure chess’ is a lovely surprise! Would try something more next time!

Google
The reviews pushed me away for a while here but a friend of mine insisted we go and well, wow! I have been pleasantly surprised! The oysters with the Mango Chutney was great , the Salmon Spring Roll Amazing, and the ceviche was tasty ! The service is, however, slow but we always with a smile and never felt pressured so it’s all right! I do remove one star for the overall cost, which is a bit above expectations... but the location and size of the restaurant explain it. Hey, I was hesitant between PF Chang and Miss Wong, and very happy I came here !

🍽Food: 1/5 📍Place: 3/5 🤵Service: 1/5 💵Price: 2/5 Food was served 5 minutes after being ordered, so in short it was awful. Service is mediocre, feels like a money driven restaurent having a minimum of effort put in place until it closes down. There are tons of places with better vibes and dancing.

We had a great time at miss wong! Our waiter Philippe was great! Food was good but not amazing. Food proportion was pretty small. I really liked lemon grass grill, it came with a salad, rice, spring roll and a choice of meat. What I really enjoyed was the music, the vibe and the ambience from this place!

Yelp
Reservation are (almost always) required. Great asian fusion place. A general tso's chicken that can please buffet lover and foodies. The smoked meat rolls are a must. Lady's night is a steal. Ambiance is on point.

Yelp

Yelp
The cocktails are amazing at Miss Wong. I wasn't particularly impressed by the menu but it doesn't mean that it wasn't good because it was in fact good. It wasn't impressive. In the other side you will be charmed by the decor. Modern with an asian touch

Yelp
Pretty place that reminds me actually being in Hong Kong! We went for my bday and you get the meal free! Nice ! Had a mojito, fried chicken dumplings, salmon tartare and a viet coffee crème brûlée!

Yelp
Hostess was sweet Bartender and bar back were absolutely lovely. (I forgot their names Gentleman with a beard and barback with a reputation of cutting himself haha) We ordered too much food but everything was great. Nothing really looked appealing on their speciality cocktail list but we ordered a couple cocktails and they were surprisingly good *see picture; vodka mandarine pepper drink. The decor is really nice and they stay open late on the weekend to turn into a kind of bar/club hang out area. parking lot in the front They offer a coat check as well.

Yelp
I live right by Centropolis and for some reason haven't made it here yet so I had to come in. I wasn't super hungry so tapas and a drink sounded amazing and that's why I came by. The initial entrance is a little bit scary with all the lucky cats which some are missing from the wall and some not workings but fear not just past the hallway lies so truly beautiful decor. I choose to be seated outside since the weather was nice and although the outside wasn't as pretty as the inside it was nice. There was a special 4 a 7 going on so I took full advantage I got the peanut butter dumplings Vietnamese meatballs Laos salad and the ceviche from the regular menu. The peanut butter dumplings and Laos salad were good and had pretty authentic flavours the meatballs however were my favourite and I would recommend them to anyone To drink I got the Wong hole ( lool yup ) which was fantastic and the ceasar was pretty tasty but watch out for the wasabi powder on the rim ! Overall the places was good and I would be back but the only complaint I had is that it took almost 40 minutes to get our drinks when we had ordered even tho the place wasn't busy yet other then that looking forward to coming back

Yelp
Great brasserie to hang out with friends and have some drinks. This is an ideal place to be at to be "seen" or a great location to go on a date (music wasn't that loud). Gorgeous decor that makes your think you're walking in little China. Honestly, it's quite the experience. If you're coming here for the food however, do however set your expectations. We were quite disappointed to hear the group meals were no longer available. We were told, "it complicated things in the kitchen". I didn't see how it could since I could pretty much order the same things but whatever works I guess. Menu is kind of limiting and reeks of North American "Asian Fusion" with Hamburger Baos, General Tao, Duck Poutine and Smoked Meat Egg Rolls. I wouldn't come here for the authentic cuisine but for that Asian twist on a number of known items you've likely ate elsewhere. Keep in mind these plates are mostly tapas style. My ratings: Yusheng Salad ($10) : 3 Stars. This salad is usually presented with ingredients apart however it was presented in a small plate with everything mixed up in a tower. Portion is decent for 4. Taste was average. Lacked plum sauce. General Tao ($12) : 3 stars. Comes in a pair of brochettes with a total of 6 pieces. Portion is decent for 3 people. Taste was average. Lacked that tangy kick, very mild. Smoked Meat Egg Roll ($9) : 3 stars. Total of 4 pieces served. This was a first for me and the crunchy egg role filled with smoked meat was quite tasty. Sadly only got a piece. Bavette steak with Chimichurri ($24) : 4 stars. This is a full plate and great to share with 4 people. The meat was good but wasn't served hot despite it coming straight from the kitchen? Taro fries were delicious. Veggies were great. Solid plate. 5 Spice Pork Ribs ($17) : 3 stars. Delicious ribs but why were they barely warm when they were served? You get about half rack, good enough for a table of 4 to share 2 ribs. Would have been far better if it wasn't cold? Wonton with Peanut Butter Sauce ($8) : 2 stars. HUGE plate... with 4 pieces inside of it, sauce was dabbled in. Ridiculous. The one piece I had wasn't terrible. Bao Bun MW ($12): 5 stars. A North American spin on an Asian bun sandwich and it was delicious! Loved the hamburger style bao bun. Dish comes with 2 buns. Duck Bao Bun ($14): 4 stars. We actually ordered the fried cauliflower and got this instead. Was quite tasty! Porchetta Bao Bun ($12): 1 star. An absolutely disgusting Bao Bun. I know my porchetta well and getting a couple of slices of porchetta with over 50% of it being pure fat is a joke. Who prepped this? This was returned to the kitchen. Gross. We came in for an earlier seating and drinks/food came really quickly. Too quickly in fact. I'm unsure how we got 10 plates within 15 minutes which included steak/ribs. Prepped ahead of time? Unsure. Meats were barely warm... On a special note our waitress was friendly and effective. She got us some replacement Bao Buns after the Porchetta experience. We appreciated the gesture despite not indulging at the time. As for drinks go, I had both the Pina Colada and the Spritz and neither really excited me. Visually appealing but the drinks were just OK? Lots of ice. I wish I went with the Mumba. All in all, the experience was kind of a mixed bag for me. I'd go back but only to hang out with friends to take in the vibe/drinks and maybe order 2-3 tapas plates. As for a resto experience, there's much better to be had elsewhere. Price-tag is experience but you're eating at the Centropolis so no complaining allowed. Billing wasn't an issue for us.

Yelp
Let's start by the obvious; the decor is amazing, really trendy: just perfect. They put a lot of work on the design of the place and it shows. It's more of a tapas/bar place so nothing will really satisfy your hunger if you don't order more than one plate. It's fun if you want to try out different dishes. They have a great selection of alcohol that goes from cocktails, wine, beers, strong alcohol and sakés. I tried: the salmon tartare: Out of the 3 plates that I ordered, it was probably the one I liked the most but it wasn't exceptional. The 'chips' that they give with the tartare was really thin but yet so greasy. the seafood ceviche: there was barely any seafood, it tasted too acidic. I know they put lime on ceviche but it was way too much, it wasn't enjoyable. Also, I felt like my plate had more red onions than anything else. This probably was my least favourite plate. the har gow: it's a dumpling filled with shrimps and pork with soy sauce as a dipping sauce. It was pretty decent. All in all, although the food wasn't the best, I would still be open to come back and try their cocktails (especially their Pina Colada). Also, the service was really great and our waitress was so nice, so that's a plus.

Yelp
Nice ambience but the hosts should be more presentable and professional - there were about 5 people at the front and the guy that showed us to our table was dressed horribly for a host... worn out running shoes, pants too short for his legs and shirt that didn't match. We had just sat down and didn't even look at the menu when a waitress asked us if we wanted something to drink (super service) and we said not yet, she stormed off with an attitude (normally they would say "ok, no problem I'll be back in a few minutes") - luckily we had another waitress working the same tables, she was much nicer and very professional. The wonton soup was horrible, the wontons were old because the wrap was thick and pasty - normal wonton is thin and slippery. For those that enjoy smoked meat, try the imperial smoked meat. The pickles add a nice little "ting". The "Ramen" beef was good, but using Cantonese noodles and calling that ramen is just wrong ... salmon tartar was really good. Honestly, I think the food is "ok" but definitely not great - sorry Miss Wong, this restaurant doesn't make my top 10

Yelp
Was really looking forward to eating here. The decor is beautiful, but they do not care for their clients. We were seated in the Red Lantern room - which is next to the entrance. We were freezing and asked to be moved. The restaurant was half full and they refused. The food was OK - but we are so cold, it was hard to enjoy. The teapot Cocktail was very nice, but the China Town cocktail is a sweet mess. The mixologist who came up with that one must have some taste buds missing. When we told the manager how disappointed we were they would not move us - he shrugged and mumbled sorry. He could not have cared less. The restaurant was still half empty when we left (it is a huge restaurant) so they really had no excuse. We will not be back and understand why this place is half full.

Yelp
I only gave one star because i had to. This place is all show and no go. The food tastes like frozen garbage, the waitresses are stupid morons that cant get anything right and talk over each other in confusion Disgusting, over priced with bimbos as waitresses thank god for the support staff otherwise this place would fall apart. Do not come here this place should be shut down immediately

Yelp
The cocktails are amazing. Tried the Treasure Box, the Miss Wong, and the Moomba, the Moomba was my favorite out of the three. Try the treasure box if you like ginger, definitely worth it. Service is a bit slow, but the waiters are very friendly. The restaurant is also really beautiful inside, ambiance is amazing, and the dj is good. Do not eat at this restaurant, it is simply not worth it. The food is expensive, which is understandable since we are paying for the ambiance and the fabulous decor, but the dishes are not tasty. I tried the calamari, they were way too salty. The smoked meat spring roll wasn't good either, couldn't really taste anything. The edamame was okay, but I would prefer simply having edamame with salt instead of the spicy powder they put on the beans. None of my friends liked what they ordered, so really if you go I recommend to eat before or after.

Yelp
The hostess wanted me to follow her to the table but I had to stop and stare at the magnificent decor, I was in complete awe and can't wait to go back. The drinks are amazing! Tried the berry something was delectable (drink) and the food was great (seafood noodles, peanut dumplings) The fried shrimp was good but I wish the sauce was spicier and a tad more salt. The fresh rolls were ok It is served with a soy sauce but would of preferred a peanut sauce instead and possible more mint or some herb. Overall great for vibe and food!

Yelp
The reception was great, the owner came to greet us at the door and inform us that they are full (remember to reserve) and that we could wait by the bar. He offered us some shots on the house and we waited by the bar. We mingled and had a great time (the bar was near the entrance) the inside is really cool looking gives off an underground Chinatown feel with trendy people and style. The food was amazing; they have a tapas vibe and we shared multiple dishes with our group of 4. We got 3 bottles of Champaign that were responsibly priced and had a great time! I'd recommend this place for a date night during the week or happy hour after work.

Yelp
Ugh It was very underwhelmed and disappointed as I was looking forward to going here.. I heard a lot of hype and a year ago it took a month to get a reservation... it was my birthday.. so I chose this .. first coming in it looked dodgy.. missing lucky cats on the wall or broken ones.. it felt like a restaurant of 10yrs not 2 .. feels like no one cares... staff was polite, however food was very underwhelming music was horrible.. I was expecting a hip Asian sensation full on of the senses.. music was so random radio music.. like Ariana grande ... it felt like a cookie cutter resto of that centropolis area.. slapped on à Chinese flavor I won't go again ..

Yelp
I went to Miss Womg on a Sunday with a friend. We got there at 16h they were just opening the doors. We had the restaurant all for ourselves. And quite frankly I felr like I was in a movie the restaurant decoration is beyond gorgeous, everywhere you look theres a detail. We ordered drinks andine came in the cutest jar and was good but I was surprise by the amount of alcool because usually sweeter drinks do not contain alot of alcool but mainly you pay for a bunch of juice. I also had the 5 spices piña colada it was so good a nice twist on a regular piña colada. The food was good but my fav was the fried watermelon I wish I good describe the tastw but you just have to go and taste it for yourself. The shrimp & calamari were good however the fried rice had too much peas in it. Overall I will go back for sure and try other items on the menu & another plate of fried watermelon

Yelp
I'll definately give this place 5 stars on atmosphere! As I walked in, the decorations WOWed me and I was immediately impressed. They said walk in wait time would be an hour, but we were seated in 25. Drink selection is pretty nice and they serve them in cute cups. Service was quite slow but our waitress came by to tell us it was coming soon. For someone who goes often to many asian restaurants, the food was disappointing. The beef broccoli was soggy and the sauce was not good. The fried rice was oily and the food wasn't memorable. I would recommend this place for the atmosphere, but not for the food. I prefer Red Tiger x1000.

Yelp
Miss Wong's is absolutely incredible. this is my first time going, the wonderful service (executed by the even more wonderful server Isabella) and magnificent food had me enthralled my entire stay. couldn't recommend this spot any more !!

Nina D.

Yelp
Went there for my 21st birthday, the vibe was really cool, and good atmosphere. Although I got sick an hour after eating and regurgitated my meal. I than demanded the waitress I wouldn't pay for my meal to which she insured me that everything is cooked fresh and it couldn't be the food. My two friends that were in the bathroom with me that saw insured her that it was because of the food so she left and told us she would check what she can do. When she returned she responded back "well no one else got sick" so I still had to pay for my bill. The next day I found out that my two cousins and one of my best friends weren't feeling well also. I would not recommend eating here, just go for drinks and the good music.

Sharon S.

Yelp
Won't be back and will not recommend took 40 min for our food to come out and when it did the taste was not up to par . It's a shame because the decor is amazing and it has potential. I'm very disappointed.

Yelp
First timer this week and will go again. Decor really nice, Asian feel. Music not too loud and good vibe. Food well presented however not large portions. Patio is nice, waitresses are polite and always smiling. Had a great time sipping A drink with wife.

Sen L.

Yelp
Went there for a birthday. Inexperience waitress. Unorganized staff. Don't know how to make bills for customers. Errors on errors on errors. Asked customers to pay for something they didn't ordered and tell them to go collect money from the person who ordered it. I didn't eat there but comments about the food was not in their advantage. I only went there for a drink. Went to the bar, asked for two Gin Tonic Cucumber. Bartender made it and putted 1 slice of cucumber in each drink. I asked for more slices and got replied "ah I have to go get more" and he stayed there. The drink was tasteless. Later went to the same bar and ordered a bottle of wine. Basically l, the bartender gave us 2 glasses and a Bottle. Serve yourself guys. At least pour us the first glass and Asked us if the bottle is ok. In the other hand, it's a very nice place. I like the ambiance. Bring the Do' because it's not for a bargain.
