It is always a joy to visit Mission Bbq yet I hardly visit this place. I always like the ambiance & decor. I usually order Mac and cheese or green beans here with a soft drink. The food is always delicious here. This time I got a brisket sandwich, a birthday free reward. I didn't feel like ordering anything else this time and it was fine with them. They asked if I wanted it lean or fatty. I chose fatty. Brisket was amazing and the best. I got samples of each of their barbecue sauce to try on my sandwich. Service was amazing and took care of me well.

Staff was all very friendly, service was very quick and the whole restaurant was spotless. Should've gotten the platter it was better than the BBQ sandwich. Mac n cheese was pretty good nothing crazy but the noodles weren't overdone which a lot of places seem to do. Oh my gosh the peach cobbler was so delicious but boy did it have a massive amount of sugar, it was so overly sweet to the point you could only have a few bites.

Google
Super nice mission BBQ, the service was sweet and quick. They had plenty of options and the meat was tender. My only issue is the brisket came out a little dry when I asked for moist. Otherwise would definitely visit again and highly recommend!

We absolutely love mission BBQ and have always had amazing service here. Today though, was spectacular. I’m not sure the guys name but we came in with 5 kids and 3 adults and there was someone working the tables ( I think his jacket said service trainer or something like that) and he truly made dining there even better . He was always checking on us and a ton of other tables . He would take our plates as soon as they were empty. Would talk to the kids and with us. Not sure I should put this but I’m sure he could tell the adults were getting a little overwhelmed and he brought the kids brownies on the house . The dude deserves a raise we were there at around 1245-125 on Sunday . Thank you for always being such an amazing place to eat but also for today! That employee really made today’s visit amazing . I can’t rave enough !

I absolutely love coming here. The staff is always pleasant and the food is absolutely amazing. The service was nice and fast, so honestly, there's never a need or room for complaining.

In uncertain times, they’ve got taste and quality you can trust. Save yourself $$$ not going to Texas for barbecue and driving to this strip mall instead. I just do NOT know how this kind of flavour comes out of a humble strip mall joint in northern Virginia. It was worth patching up my molars like highway potholes to be able to fully appreciate today’s brisket. It was especially special as they gave me a free sandwich for my birthday and as this was my first time back at Mission as a permanent resident of this nation. The food is always great, the people are always nice, and the place is always clean. I do not recommend things lightly, but you need to eat here. I’m not a brisket gal, but decided to order it for the first time after a kind server, Cam, gave me a sample of the lean brisket. It was so tender, I wouldn’t have even needed to get my teeth fixed to eat it. Also tried mixing the KC Classic and Bay-B-Que sauces—it was divine. If you’re not signed up for their birthday rewards, you’re missing out. I love this place and all Mission BBQs in the DMV area. I don’t know how they’re finding literal angels to work for them. Great job Mission BBQ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Never had a smoked burger before but I’m glad I tried it! I don’t eat red meat often because it usually gives me indigestion; however, this smoked burger was actually really good—no indigestion! It is a much better option than a greasy burger from any other restaurant. I would definitely order this again if I ever want a burger.

Both the food and atmosphere are decent. The staff are fantastic. One staff member walked around offering peach cobbler and mashed potato samples while I was there. I plan to go back to try the ribs.

Yelp
First time at a Mission BBQ and I absolutely loved it. I had the Chicken Yard Bird full of flavor and very juicy. 1 side of macaroni and cheese and a side of potato salad. Macaroni and cheese was very good. Potato salad was the best I've ever had. 3 other people in my group all had brisket and said it was moist, and cut it with a fork. They had fries which were hot and crispy. The fry side is huge. Well worth the money and highly recommended. Andre was our cashier and he was great. Big smile, introduced himself, and answered my questions about the food before I ordered. Kitchen staff also said hello as we walked by to our table. Restaurant was clean. Wish we had a Mission BBQ in Charleston WV.

Yelp
Horrendous service. Will never come to this location again. No ONE assisted me when I came to pick up my online order. They were not busy as there were no orders being prepared or anyone else waiting for an order. I stood at the online pickup destination for several minutes with no acknowledgment as several workers walked by as well as a manager who was clocking out an employee. I eventually gathered my order (opening it twice without acknowledgement or assistance from any employee) and bagged my order that was on the counter on my own. Even my own bagging garnered no response from the staff. Horrible experience will not come back! Edit: Following my initial review, I was contacted by John Kendrick, the Director overseeing Mission Barbecue. He reached out the very next day, both via email and phone, and left a voicemail expressing his sincere disappointment about my experience. A few days later, we were able to speak directly, and during our conversation, Mr. Kendrick again expressed his concern and shock as I shared more details about what happened. I appreciated his genuine concern regarding the lack of customer service I encountered. He was attentive, professional, and assured me that the issue would be addressed. Based on our conversation, I'm confident that steps are being taken to resolve the matter and improve the experience at this location. His follow-up shows a strong commitment to customer satisfaction, which I respect and value.

Yelp
So, I finally hit up Mission BBQ and holy smokes(no pun intended) , it was good! I went for the fatty brisket and I choose fatty over lean for the melt-in-your-mouth experience. And you know I'm a sucker for good sides, so I was super happy with their mac and cheese too! The pulled chicken was a little saltier than I usually go for, but honestly, it barely registered after how incredible that brisket was. Definitely go check it out if you're looking for some american style BBQ!

Yelp
Last week we visited Mission Barbecue. We had been here once before, a few years back. Both times we have had a very good meal. Mission is a large airy restaurant with plenty of seating. You order at the counter, and then they quickly, and I mean quickly, prepare your order which you pick up at a different area at the counter. Highly recommended is the Meat Sampler as an entree, available with either 2 or 3 meats.. The brisket, pulled pork, and sausage were all tasty. The sausage was especially tasty! I also highly recommend the cornbread. This is some of the best cornbread I have ever had, not too sweet and with a great texture. We also ordered the Half a Yard Bird. The chicken was somewhere between okay and good. I didn't totally like the seasonings. The other sides we ordered were the coleslaw (which Mission calls "cold slaw") and baked beans. The lightly creamed coleslaw, with a good mix of vegetables was excellent, not too sweet and not too tart. The beans were very good, just a bit on the spicy side. Mission is a good dinner bet in the Hilltop neighborhood!

Yelp
This restaurant is military themed. They have veteran parking up front and there is military memorabilia and photos all over the dining area. Everyday, at noon, they play the national anthem. I thought they would offer military discount, but they don't. They have a large dining area that had some pretty loud music playing throughout. The staff was friendly and helpful enough, but I will admit, my interaction with them was very limited. It is located in a small strip mall so there is more than enough parking free available in the lot. They serve your barbecue favorites that include brisket, pulled pork, sausage, burgers, turkey, salmon, and chicken. They have fries, cole slaw, baked beans, green beans, and mac & cheese as sides. I ordered the brisket sandwich, which comes wet or lean. Wet has more fat and juice. I got the lean. I also got a side of the baked beans. My food was ready right away. My meal was delicious. They had a full compliment of condiments available including 6 varieties of barbecue sauces (Texas Twang, Tupelo Honey Heat, KC Classic, Smokey Mountain, Memphis Belle, and Bay-B-Que). The brisket was cooked just right and was very tasty. The beans were as well and had some meat in them. I really enjoyed my meal here and highly recommend checking this restaurant out.

Yelp
Brisket sandwich was delicious. Plenty of fries for my son. He had a special dessert courtesy of staff. Mission BBQ brings back the good memories of being in the military. I was able to show my son the Marine Corps flag. Highly recommend this location for any veteran looking for good BBQ meat.

Yelp
Despite there being a dinner rush, there were plenty of cashiers taking orders. The menu was self explanatory, everything was clean, plenty of seating and the FOOD was quick to come out and t'was delicious! The tables all had (6) optional sauces for your convenience with built in paper towel holders for those messy meals. The downs: - beans were nothing exciting - corn bread isn't the sweetest thing on Earth (for those of you who like it sweet) Overall: Great!

Yelp
Was craving some Mission BBQ!! So decided to stop on my way home and pick up some dinner. Wish. Restaurant was closer to me!! ;(((( Was disappointed to hear their sides change seasonality because I had my mind set on some of their potato salad. Nonetheless-everything I ordered I enjoyed. Would definitely come here again!! Good food, clean restaurant and service with a smile...what more can you ask for?!!?

Yelp
Good food. Great service. Really appreciate how much they support vets. Absolutely put their money where their mouth is. Brisket and pulled pork was good. I wanted the Mac and cheese to be as good as it looked but it wasn't quite there. We liked the food enough to cater a party and they didn't disappoint.

Yelp
My go to lunch chain in the DC area. I've never had a bad experience at Mission BBQ. I've visited at least a dozen locations and always have excellent food and service which is rare. I've tried almost the full menu, my top choices are pulled pork and turkey!

Yelp
What can I say that hasn't already been said? Some of the best traditional American Barbecue that you will find anywhere around here! Also, if you have a lack of patriotism, you will feel out of place when all are called to stand for the National Anthem...especially at locations near military bases like this one. On that note, a patriotic note to all - remember that whether you are a fan of the military or not, every single member of our military contributes to protecting our individual rights and freedoms in the United States of America...and some pay with their lives. Don't take that lightly. I for one appreciate all that each member of the military does from the bottom of my heart. My hat is off to you, and thank you for your service and sacrifice! Keep up the great work Mission BBQ!

M W.

Yelp
Overpriced and the meat is overcooked. Unsold food should be on a timer to ensure freshness. Service was fine but the product quality is not so much.
google avatar

M B.

Yelp
Always make plans to have one visit to Mission when I'm out that way. Call ahead and find out what the BPS is because it changes but no matter what, you'll enjoy the experience and the food
google avatar

Yelp
Get the pork BBQ sandwich and ask for Cole slaw on top. This doesn't count as a side. I like it much better than the brisket. Note that the baked beans are runny, opt for the macarons and cheese or potatoes salad,
google avatar

Will M.

Yelp
Mission BBQ always can fix a craving for BBQ. Brisket has good juicy flavor but a few pieces were a bit too tough. Baked beans surprisingly packed a real flavor punch. Tangy sweet, yet with a kick at the end. Cornbread was a nice free add on to the meal.

Yelp
We most recently went to visit this location on a Friday night. The place was pretty packed with a long line. However, the line moved fast so we didn't wait long at all. The service was great! The employee at the cash register was really patient with taking our multiple orders. When our order was ready, another staff member showed us what was each in box to make sure our order was correct. We ordered a pulled pork sandwich, baked beans, collard greens, kid's rib meal with mac and cheese, and 3 meat platter, along with 2 drinks. Our total was around $42. The food was tasty and the portions sizes are big enough to get you full! I was even able the find my favorite drink that I can usually only get in the Midwest. There are also options for 6 different barbecue sauces, which are all very tasty, just depending on your preferences. The shopping center where the restaurant is located can get pretty busy so the parking lot was crowded. But we were able to find a parking spot. We will def return!

Yelp
Sorry so late! The aroma of hickory wood burning, Heavenly!! Friendly smiling crew members! Customer Service etiquette, phenomenal! Attention to detail about the menu, awesome! Photos enclosed are self-explanatory!!! Most importantly, I shall definitely come back again and recommend this place to everyone I know! See you next time! Keep up the phenomenal work everyone!!!

Yelp
Food on target Some of the best barbecue I have eaten. Brisket is especially excellent.
google avatar

Aivy H.

Yelp
So I had some pretty high hopes, which I think is why I didn't LOVE everything but I did like it and I would eat everything again. My biggest complaint is the price, honestly if it was a little less I wouldn't mention it at all but hey times right now are tough/ everything is expensive so I'm not gonna deduct 's cause of it. I really liked the ribs but didn't feel like there was enough meat there, but they fell right off the bone and were well cooked. Mac & cheese, green beans and fries were good sides and the corn bread was really good too. Overall I would come back here, the pulled chicken sandwich was also good. Parking lot is huge and lots of space with veteran parking up front. The Memphis sauce mixed with the KC sauce is the besttttttt combo!! I also love how much they do in the communities and how active the company is itself and that's worth all the stars alone. - Insta @ SpicyAivy

Yelp
Food was amazing as always with great customer service.... The salmon is extremely underrated. Everything here is consistently good. Keep word consistently.

Leann D.

Yelp
Overall, I enjoyed this place! I got the meat sampler here just because I wasn't sure what was good as it is my first time. However, I really liked the moist brisket! The pulled pork was a little salty, but eating it with bbq sauce helped :) overall, not bad!

Yelp
Had my group of 90 8th grade students dine with Mission BBQ in Alexandria and they knocked it out of the park. From setting the event up with Jaycee to our groups departure, the entire Mission team were fantastic. I cannot recommend them enough!
google avatar

Katarina V.

Yelp
Fantastic! Love their brisket and baby back ribs! I am generally not a fan of potato salads but theirs is sooo good :) Their employees are so nice too! We were helped by a young teenage guy who was so nice and helpful! The whole experience was just very good.
google avatar

Yelp
My buddy and I had a great BBQ diner at Mission BBQ. You order at the counter and the gentleman once he found out I was new to the restaurant walked me through the menu. I had the 3 meats and I picked Pulled Pork, Pulled Chicken, and Beef Brisket. Compared to the prices I have been paying lately for dining out I thought the price was reasonable at about $25 for 3/4 lb of meat and a side salad. Super friendly staff and they are really quick.

Rick R.

Yelp
The food is great! I go there quite a bit. Only one time was there an issue with the food. The area director, Jerry, called me personally. He wanted to make it right. He made it right! I am very happy with the customer service!
google avatar

Darrell H.

Yelp
I went here because they sent me a sandwich coupon for my birthday. I had to choose my favorite the brisket. Since I had time to eat it in the restaurant I had the wet version and as usual it is just one of the best sandwich I ever had. I also had the cheesy potatoes which were great. Also for this visit I was able to get the blueberry cobbler dessert. This dessert is not always available. This is one of the best desserts ever. It is always warm when served. Also worth mentioning was that the food came out quickly after I ordered it.
google avatar

Jason C.

Yelp
Came here for a lunch party. The food was delicious and the service was excellent! 10/10 would recommend!
google avatar

David H.

Yelp
I hadn't had Mission BBQ in way too long so my take out tasted extra good. The pulled pork was a large portion and tasted very fresh, I used the Texas BBQ sauce and it paired just right. The green beans with bacon were as good as ever and the cornbread was tasty as well. Great and filling meal.
google avatar

Oliver F.

Yelp
Ate here twice. My introduction was last week for a former colleague's going away, and I purchased a lot of food. Hands down awesome. I went back again on Saturday, and purchased two beef briskets, corn bread, cheesecake, collard greens, and more. I like the fact that they cook everything with wood, and having a veteran background, this is one of the better places that I have been within the United States. I appreciate the location and being able to serve not only my brothers and sisters-in-arms, but doing so with a smile. I also appreciate the cashier giving me the know how of what to order (everything was good) and letting me know to come back anytime, which I did in order to show my familiy more of what they can deliver at this resturant. Thank you and I will also be a frequent customer here as well.
google avatar

Joelle M.

Yelp
Love the greens and trying the cheesy potatoes. Pulled chicken, ribs, brisket and pulled pork mighty tasty. Our go to bbq place.
google avatar

Monica L.

Yelp
I can report that this place is still awesome. The spare ribs, fresh cut fries and Grammy's sweet potato mash were all fantastic. I didn't like the baked beans quite as much.
google avatar

Jim W.

Yelp
A great place for just about any meal, but make sure to come here for lunch! The restaurant gets pretty busy because of its location; about 100 yards from Ft. Belvoir. At 12 noon every day everyone stands, and the restaurant staff plays the National Anthem! The food is great. The employees couldn't be more friendly. When they find out you're a veteran, they treat you like royalty...which can be a bit embarrassing, but you know their heart is in the right place. My wife and son would go to Mission BBQ regularly while I was in Afghanistan, and they made my then-5 year old son feel very special. That means a lot to me. Their business model is second to none, and more businesses should make a point of honoring anyone, police and first responders, who risk their lives to keep us safe.

Yelp
Service is excellent and efficient. The beef brisket sandwich I had was very dry. The different favor sauces were a little bland.

Dennis B.

Yelp
technically, it resembled Texas BBQ My order was done quickly My order was done accurately I opted for moist brisket I received 40% fat, that fat presented itself as 1" x 1" x 3" pieces of fat Not a great value I only ordered the brisket to try the brisket Probably won't be going back
google avatar

Melissa S.

Yelp
The most outstanding thing at Mission BBQ (besides the brisket) is the amazing customer service! I think the food could be subpar (it definitely isn't) and I would still go back because of their beyond compare customer service. I have never ordered anything except for the brisket (moist) because it has never disappointed me. Neither has the delicious macaroni and cheese! The fries were fresh and perfectly seasoned, not too salty. Mission BBQ will always be our go to for great tasting southern home style BBQ!

Joy P.

Yelp
We had a good meal, large portions. Enjoyed! Open floor plan, got to meet your neighbor eating nearby.

Yelp
Obviously a very well managed company. I have eaten at Mission BBQ in multiple states and all have been great. Great value too.
google avatar

Yelp
Pretty good place to eat. Sweet tea was great. Everything we had was good and fresh. I didn't care for the baked beans but that's just me. Mac & cheese was good. Great and fast bbq place. Hard to beat.

Lolita T.

Yelp
Excellent customer service!! Whenever I'm in the area I make sure to stop for the brisket. Today was that day. They certainly didn't disappoint!! 10/10
google avatar

John C.

Yelp
Very average across the board, got the brisket strips with Mac and cheese & baked beans. All of which were just very average.

Eric H.

Yelp
I've been to this location several times and I'm never disappointed. The wait staff is always friendly and the food very tasty.
google avatar

Carol M.

Yelp
The ribs and the fries were great and I loved the assortment of sauces. In addition, when they saw I was in a wheelchair, they delivered our food to the table. I also noticed that they did a very steady business for lunch and that also made me happy.

Yelp
Since my visit to Knoxville, Tennessee, I've been on a MISSION to find the best southern BBQ in Virginia. So far, this place tops my list. You won't beat the quality for the price that you'll find here. It's just cheap enough to be in that fast casual range, but it's taste compares to most high end BBQ joints. I'm on a specific low carb diet right now. No sugar with low carbs eating mostly vegetables and meat. This place is perfect for that kind of diet. I went all in and ordered a half pound of each of their meats (some I had to take to go). That means pulled pork, pulled chicken, turkey breast, jalepeño sausage and beef brisket. The pork was my favorite of all the meats. The ratio of fat to meat was perfect for me. The flavor was on point. It mixes really well with any of the sauces. I'm a low sugar guy so I used the NC Vinegar instead of BBQ sauce and it was amazing. Chicken was really good when it was fresh, but as it sat on my plate it became a little bit dry, as you'd expect from white meat chicken. It has really good flavor by itself. I added the vinegar and it was awesome. Basically gave my chicken a bath in delicious spicy vinegar. BEST TURKEY IVE HAD AT A RESTAURANT! I've had better turkey when my grandma used to make turkey in the deep frier, but this turkey was BOMB. It was so moist which is the big struggle for turkey. The sausage was probably the most flavorful of them all. The flavor just explodes with every bite. It's kinda in that sausage link format, brats would probably be the best description. I'm not a huge fan of the texture of those, but if you're into that, get the sausage for sure. It's flavor exploded with every bite. The brisket was probably the least flavorful option of them all, which is funny because it's the most expensive. It's hard to find really good quality beef brisket. This was good and definitely edible, I'll eat it all, but it wasn't something I'd come back for buy itself. The cornbread was dynamic. Really good simple cornbread. A little on the sweet side, which I like and really well done. Nice accent piece and kind of a desert after stuffing your mouth with meat. Collard greens are out of this world. They have so much flavor and they're so juicy. The serving size is a little small for the price, but it's flavor wise, you're not missing anything. They have little tomato chunks mixed in, which is fine for me, but it's not well advertised. The cold slaw was good. I've certainly had better options for slaw. But their slaw was very juicy and had a peppery tinge. I'll order it again, but it doesn't stand out like the collards. They also had bacon green beans which I'm looking forward to eating on my next visit. The seating is great inside. Nice big family sized booths and a couple of big tables. Has a minimalist feel to it. They're very big on they're support to the military and give away special cups to donate to veterans for an extra dollar. This will likely become one of my top 5 eating destinations in Northern Virginia. I'm a cheap eats king, so this place is just barely inside my price range and never leaves you lacking on food taste.

Yelp
We love Mission BBQ located off Telegraph Road at 6482 Landsdowne Ctr, Alexandria, VA. 22315, With COVID we feel safe as all employees wore masks and gloves and the tables are labeled for safe dining inside the restaurant. Everything is cooked to perfection and we enjoy the monthly specials at a reasonable price. Right now it is smoked steak. The steak is AWESOME, so tender and tasty! This restaurant is our second home, the meals are always outstanding!
google avatar

Joyce M.

Yelp
If you like BBQ then this is a place to try. Although I'm not a big fan of BBQ I did enjoy the chicken. You need to try for yourself.
google avatar

Yelp
This was one of the restaurants my family was excited to visit again when we came back to the area. I'm not big on chain restaurants but Mission does such a good job. They haven't lost a step. I had lean brisket, pulled pork and their homemade potato salad. Everything was absolutely delicious. As a bonus, Mission is very involved in the community, taking care of first responders and supporting local outreach events. Definitely in my favorites list!
google avatar

Mrs. A.

Yelp
I am extremely disappointed! I ordered the 2 meat platter with pulled chicken and lean brisket. After scooping up a fork full of the pulled chicken, I noticed something shiny and long hanging from my fork. To my surprise it was PLASTIC!! Ewww so disgusting . Please pay close attention when handling food. This is horrible! I am really not sure if I'll be returning.

Yelp
Pulling out the rare 5 star rating for this puppy! My husband and I stopped in today for lunch on MLK Day, and I am not exaggerating when I say it was the most impressive customer service experience I've ever had. Go on this journey of a tale with me, if it doesn't blow you away, I'll eat my hat. We entered the building and approached the front to order, but before we could even size up the menu, Harry greeted us enthusiastically. He asked if we'd been there before (a question I usually approach skeptically and lie) but my husband said no, and boy am I glad he did. Harry proceeded to walk us through the entire menu, giving his personal favorites and notes about each thing he mentioned. It was quite the spiel, so when he was done and we began strategizing our order, he overheard us trying to decide between the cheesy potatoes and mac and cheese as a side, and he scuttled to the back to whip us up a sample of each! We ordered a three meat platter--moist brisket, turkey, and original sausage--and the potatoes and slaw on the side. We settled into a booth and our name was called surprisingly fast. Once our food arrived (spoiler alert, literally every single thing was delicious) our friend Harry stopped by to ask what we thought. He left and returned with some fries and insisted that we try his special concoction--a mix of the Alabama white sauce and the Memphis BBQ sauce--and it has ruined me for all other sauces. As we kept eating, my husband and I were chatting about all the things we ordered, and I said that I had ordered the moist brisket, where I usually order the lean, because of Harry's recommendation, but that I should have stuck with my gut because it was a little fatty (side note, most people would LOVE it, I just prefer a leaner meat) and darn it if Harry didn't overhear us and bring us some of the lean to try as well! Seriously, this place is worth the trek even if you live in the District. The turkey was wildly moist, they smoke all their meats in house daily, the mac is cheesy as I'll get out, the fries are hella crispy, and we ate like kings for $20. They also give back in a big way to veterans and first responders. Go see our new friend Harry--he'll take great care of you.
