Celebrate International Chardonnay Day at These Boston-Area Spots | Eater

"From the upper floors of this restaurant overlooking Beverly Pier, you’ll feel like you’re on a cruise ship that could set sail any second. Indulge in that fantasy while watching the boats come in and out, sipping on a buttery glass of Harken, and digging into a “simply grilled” platter of shrimp, tuna, salmon, or swordfish." - Molly McDonough

Where do I begin! Just an amazing place! There are real chefs in the kitchen ! I have played music for over 50 years and have been in the finest hotels in New England and this place tops them all with the best food, both in the pub and the functions, I gain nothing from my reviews and do honest reviews I have over 150 thousand yes thousand views annually to my reviews, I had lunch in the pub first and the the ceviche was amazing absolutely the freshest I’ve had , later in the evening the function I was at upstairs , the steak tips amazing, the Chicken Marsala so flavorful , perfect food temps another great meal , the north shores hidden gem , and yes the most amazing staff also and beautiful spaces !

I booked the 3rd floor of Mission Boathouse for a 150-person event for The Cabot Theater member community. Priscilla and her whole team were a dream to work with. They were organized, helpful, and communicative about options within our budget. The day of the event everyone was kind and a pro—the room looked great and they were willing to adapt the set up to meet our purposes. The food came out on time and was highly complimented. Little details like colored napkins and the use of budvases w/o an overcharge mean a lot when putting an event together. Plus the drinks tasted and looked awesome! What more can you ask for. THANK YOU!

Beautiful views over to Salem from this huge restaurant. We were so excited being seated and reading the menu. Everything sounded really good! We got a California roll, a tempura shrimp roll, shrimp ceviche (my favorite item we chose), and crab cakes. Each item was plated beautifully. But not much flavor to anything. Cali roll had “crab stick” which kinda ruins it for me. Skip the bread - it wasn’t good at all. Slooooow service, even though there were only a handful of ppl dining. Expensive drinks. I really wanted to love this place, but it just fell short. I may go back to try it again.

The restaurant is in a beautiful location overlooking the water. The interior has very nice small decorative details with an aquatic theme. The parking lot is small and there's another parking lot under the bridge. The staff are great and accommodating. The crispy salmon Maki has a satisfying crunch with a flavorful spicy mayo. The fried fish sandwich came with a huge piece of fish with a healthy amount of toppings. The fries itself are amazing with great seasoning and cooked very well. Overall a great experience.

Google
What a great night!! We had Sean as our server on the patio and he was awesome! Food and service were incredible and the right mix of casual but not too pubby. Menu has a large variety and the cocktails were insane. Perfect place to celebrate our anniversary and we can’t wait to go back!

Google
Our waiter was great but unfortunately brunch fell short. The photo of our french toast speaks for itself. Our waiter was not the person who brought it out, but I don’t understand how it was approved to be served. The rest of the food was okay at best and overall very inconsistent.

Very nice atmosphere. We sat outside looking at the sea. Our dishes were very tasty. I recommend it.

I missed the Boston train to Newburyport so had to take the next one to Beverly. Originally I was upset but this ended up being a blessing in disguise. As a way to cool down, my colleague and I stopped at Mission Boathouse. This was exactly what we needed! Carolyn was a great server and made sure we were well accommodated. We chose the newly introduced chicken and steak bowls which were filling and tasty. Thank you Carolyn and team for a great dinner and experience after our not so great experience at North Station. You made our day!

Yelp
I had a engagement brunch celebration at Mission Beach House and it couldn't be better. Tables set up, food and service absolutely amazing!

Yelp
i've dined at mission boathouse enough times now to have more experiences to share. it has comfortable seating, whether in the main deck bar, dining, or the top floor, which all have different menus. my favorite orders are the oysters, short rib empanadas, shrimp pizza, mushroom pizza & rib-eye. the last time i visited, we started with a bottle of saratoga but then our second bottle was clear. when asked, our server said the second bottle is always refilled "filtered" tap water, while i scanned the room and every other table had a blue saratoga bottle. i definitely felt offended that they didn't automatically provide or ask what type of water we wanted, when i indicated still in the beginning. seriously rude. i forgot the servers name but she claimed they always do that, when i had never experienced that before nor did i see anyone else with a clear bottle. the food is good, at times excellent, but this service faux pas really bothered me and i haven't been back. service has been great every other time. ambiance: 5/5 food: 4.5/5 drinks: 4/5 service: 2/5 mission boathouse: 3/5 (based on last visit)

Yelp
My best friend and I had a wonderful time here. The bartender's service was wonderful, and we are upset we didn't catch a name. Working in the industry - we love to become regulars of other servers + bartenders! We got 20 oysters to split and they were massive and delicious. The view, although a gloomy day outside, was so beautiful. It's a great location and our bar seats looked out onto the water :)

Yelp
We were looking for a place for lunch when my wife suggested Mission Boathouse which I had heard of but never tried. We came mid-afternoon Memorial Day (Monday). Seated promptly and enjoyed a wine and Amalfi Spritz while we waited. The room is beautiful and boats at moorings in Beverly Harbor on a bright warm day added to our enjoyment. The food was excellent too : fish tacos and baked haddock. Our waitress Fadima K was awesome too. We're glad we (she) found this gem and promise to come back.

Yelp
Came here on a Friday night and was able to get a table overlooking the harbor. Theres a platform that's right on the harbor that they open in the summer so that you're sitting right by the water and the boats while dining. We got some wine, 2 orders of sushi and rib eye tacos that came with a side of yuca chips. The rosé was alright. The food was really good, especially the rib eye tacos and the yuca chips. Our waitress was friendly and sweet. Overall it was a good meal at a good price and I'm definitely interested in seeing what it's like in the summer.

Yelp
This place is busy. Here for dinner as we visit the North Shore. Bayfront dining with Martinis & seafood! We had an excellent dinner with superb service, good seating, excellent appetizers, and fine main dishes. Beverly, be proud of this establishment!

Yelp
THE BRUNCH SUCKS!!!! OMG, on average MB is totally awesome. I suggest stay away from the brunch. $20 for "bottomless" - you order as many small plates as you want. The issue was the selection was lame. 5 or 6 egg dishes and some tacos. You have to pay extra for French toast! WTF? The bennies had rock hard english muffins (I'm sorry I didn't ask for a steak knife. Excellent idea, dogshit execution.

Yelp
The food the service and the beautiful room were excellent for our family reunion brunch. It exceded my expectations. Priscilla the event Manager was easy to work with and the event went smoothly. Kathle managed our event beautifully. I will definitely go back.

Yelp
the service was great. The Ambiance was excellent. what a view. However I was disappointed in the food which I thought was reasonably priced. It was way too spicey. We took most of it home so we can add sour cream to it. Too bad. There is also a patio area I think you can enjoy the same view with maybe more basic food. I might try that. You really can't beat the location.

Yelp
Had a great lobster roll here!! Loved the view and the service. Would recommend and would return!

M N.

Yelp
Their food was excellent however the service was terrible. I was there for 2 hours and my waitress came over only twice. She came over to give water (and say she would bring us more and never did) and to take our food order. When given our food we weren't giving silverware or napkins and when we were done our food we sat waiting for 40 minutes to someone come over and give us our check. We had to go inside multiple times to the bar to ask for help and the bartenders were laughing and did nothing to help. Good food can't save bad service.

Yelp
Brunch! Good value and great atmosphere. Nice view of Beverly harbor. My favorite restaurant on the North Shore.

Susan S.

Yelp
Great place on the water. Food was great. Have lobster empanadas, delicious but not a lot of lobster.. great grilled salmon , they make a good Caesar salad.

Rita M.

Yelp
Service is slow. Food is not quality for what they charge. Bartenders too busy talking to eachother

Yelp
First time here and I really enjoyed their bottom brunch that has been added to their weekend menu. Our server was helpful and friendly! Sitting looking over the harbor was a nice touch. Tried out their bottomless brunch during the holidays and I was really impressed! They allowed you to Order two items ate a time which worked perfectly for two people. Our waitress continued to check in and we were able to continue ordering and tried so many of their offerings. I highly recommend and will return! Idk much about the parking situation theirs a public lot and street parking which during off-season is easy to find a spot.

Suzan F.

Yelp
Great, relaxing vibe at lunch. view of the marina. Foremost, Sean was our server and went above and beyond the service for us. I asked for a London Fog tea. Not only did he look up how to make one, it was the fanciest and best tasting one I've ever had. Sean is a definite asset to this restaurant. All the food we ordered had amazing presentation and flavor. We will definitely make this a regular outing. If you're in Salem area, drive over the bridge to Beverly and try this place. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
So. I'm back with my wife. This is my second visit since week one of opening. Somewhat unfair for a real review. I said I'd be back. Was out on my boat with my wife on a spectacular day. Pulled back into the Beverly Port Marina where my boat is docked. It was late... an hour before sunset and we were both hungry. So. The Anchor Pub and Grill across the street. 2 hour wait to be seated or my wife suggested the alternative. Let's see. First off. The top floor open windows are spectacular!!! It was not open on my first visit. It's called "The Upper Deck" as they advertise "light fare, great drinks and a killer view of Beverly harbor" We were able to grab a sofa and two chairs although they tend to save that for larger groups. Nailed it. All the recent pics today are from sitting there. Immediately greeted by our fabulous waitress, Christy (management pay attention to her skills with patrons... bravo!) They immediately served triple filtered still water... No charge!! Asked if we wanted an adult beverage, while we perused the menu. So, the Upper Deck" is a limited menu with extensive Sushi, Tapas like apps and a few heavier entrees. We were good with the lighter fare and fabulous view. The windows were constructed like garage doors. With glass rails. I've never seen anything like that. Drinks were well made and a generous pour. Much different than my first visit where the shot glass was used. I think they got the clue. My wife ordered a Caesar salad with steak tips. I ordered the coconut shrimp and a Phoenix sushi roll. All served at the same time. Mine looked great! My wife likes her steak "medium well" (don't ask me to explain lol) It arrived "Rare" ! Really rare. Christy came over to check and my wife mentioned it. Christy whisked it away, apologized and said "we'll fix this, and, take it off the tab!!!!! She offered that no one should have to wait to get their dinner correct!! Hers came back. I had just started to dive into the Sushi. Which was a solid 9.0. My coconut shrimp was a bit too long into the fryalator but was very tasty. All in all. They deserve my rarely given 5 stars tonight. The combination of service, ambiance and food is a winner. Suggestion that our server Christy agreed with... serve your Martinis in a bar cup with strainer at the table so as not to spill the drink and put a little more flair into the table side pour. We'll be regulars... Go check it out!!! Bon Appetite!!!

Yelp
Made a reservation for my mother on mother day plenty time in advance... restaurant still sat us 20 minutes after reservation time. Sat down to have dinner and waited 2 hours for our meals. Ended up leaving before the meals even came. Needless to say a disappointed in a half...save your money and just got to the anchor!

Yelp
I'm not a fan of revisiting reviews, but since my previous "meh" review, I've visited the Mission three more times with friends. Atmosphere and hospitality continue to be welcoming - really a highlight of the place - but just as importantly, the bar and kitchen did not disappoint on any of these visits. Oysters and cocktails are a great start there, and I am partial to the swordfish, and yes, the steak tips too.

Yelp
Beautiful, spacious restaurant with gorgeous interior design, ambiance, and atmosphere. Good food, good drinks, good service, and fun brunch! An awesome addition to downtown Beverly!

Yelp
Excellent food and atmosphere. Wonderful views of the harbor from the comfortable seating. I will absolutely be back.

Yelp
While the restaurant is beautiful and the menu extensive, did it ever miss the mark this time. Pomegranate and espresso martinis were so weak but tasty. Started with sushi and the CRISPY roll was anything but. You can't just cover the rolls in untoasted panko crumbs and think.it is crispy. The rolls were literally just larger than a nickel. I give the chef credit for making them that small, but they were not tight, fell apart, had bunched up skins and the panko absorbed too much soy sauce. I also ordered the crispy chicken sandwich. DO NOT give me a massive roll and literally a single paper thin chicken strip. It didn't cover more then half of the roll so basically I had half of a sandwich. French fries, although so tasty, were not cooked completely and I struggled to find small enough ones that might have any crisp to them. Do better and clearly the kitchen manager, expediters and chefs should be striving to not let inferior plates out of the kitchen. If management is cutting back and portions, adjust all the components.

Adil S.

Yelp
Worst service. We had to find a person to order and then go get our order. The food was cold and nothing special. We honestly gave this restaurant two chances but were very disappointed both times.

Yelp
I went to Mission Boathouse today and ordered from their $20 brunch menu. Great selections (about 15 different items) I hate to say but EVERYTHING came out cold to warm at best. EVERYTHING was obviously prepared beforehand. The waffles, French Toast, and English muffins were all too tough to cut. The poached eggs were cold. The Grilled Salmon had good flavor but room temperature. There were only 6 table from 11-1 so why they felt the need to over prepare is beyond me. We ordered from the waitress at the table. She put the order in the computer and the food came IMMEDIATELY to the table from a "Runner". The menu looks great! If they cook to order, I believe that they could fix their problem. Service was great!

Yelp
Had reservations for 4 on a Tuesday night. I called a couple times to change the time, then the # in our party and called back to change the date. Each time I spoke with a different staff member & they were friendly & helpful. Greeted & sat immediately upon arrival. Dining room is open & lots of great views of the waterfront. Not very busy on a Tuesday night. Waitress was friendly but seemed to be new to the service gig. Had to ask if there were any specials. She didn't come back to refill drink orders or check on us until well into our meal. Coffee took about 15 minutes to come out & she immediately walked away. We had to wait until we saw her again & ask for sugar. I personally cleared our appetizer plates when it was clear no one else was going to do it. We kept waiting for someone to clear our dinner dishes and again, no one came by. I cleared the plates and brought them to the bar. The bartender thanked me but she seemed mortified that I was bussing my own table. Shrimp cocktail appetizer was definitely not worth $17, in our opinion. 4 small NOT colossal & underchilled & overcooked shrimp. Clam Chowder was tasty but not a lot of clams. Mostly potatoes, a nice smokey bacon flavor and thick. Disappointing if you were expecting a lot of clams. I ordered the blackened Salmon & it was very good. My friend enjoyed the Carbonara. The two other meals were just okay. Shrimp Scampi & Char Siu. The kicker? We received the bill & noticed there was a $5.19 Supply Chain Fee added to our bill. We asked the server & she said it was because vendors can up there prices...like inflation. I nowsee it is noted online but not on their physical menus (that any of us saw). We all felt the courteous thing to do would have been to disclose this to us prior to us ordering. It's not the $5 that annoyed us. It was that it was presented at the end of our visit & never explained to us until we asked. I am upset because I chose Mission Boathouse for my husband & 2 dear friends to get together & try a new restaurant. And it turned out to be a bust. We all agreed we would choose a different restaurant next time. The four of us had a wonderful night but, sadly, the restaurant didn't contribute much to that.

Yelp
Lovely afternoon lunch! The space is open and inviting. We chose to sit bar side because it was a bit more lively. The dinning side is nice and traditionally more formal. Everything we tried was fresh and delicious. The drinks were a whimsical take on classics. Great service.. don't let the poor parking deter you. Excited for the top and bottom floor additions. Ps. Don't sleep on the sliced sirloin app ... game changer

Yelp
Delicious food in a lovely atmosphere. Inside build is modern and comfortable, with nice lighting and a great layout. Big views of the harbor. Waitstaff is attentive and friendly, I'dd recommend Mission Boathouse for large gatherings, events, and dinner out with a friend. U-shaped bar and great seating.

Cora Mae M.

Yelp
This is a beautiful restaurant right on the Beverly and Salem harbor! The bottomless brunch is so worth it - $18 for all you can eat! 10/10
google avatar

Patrick C.

Yelp
I Came here for a drink and a chowder. Couldn't find a place to park for more than a few minutes so I just ran in to use the bathroom. Got a rash. Wouldn't return
google avatar

Chris K.

Yelp
I went to the all you can eat brunch with a friend and had an enjoyable experience. When we arrived there were not a lot of people there but it steadily filled up as noon approached. The service was consistent and the next round of food came out shortly after we finished what we were having. The fish and short rib tacos were my favorite.
google avatar

Gina D.

Yelp
Not much to say. Great atmosphere on the water. Really cool nautical bar and scene. But I have been here three times, and the appetizers are nice but the main entrees don't do much for me. If you look at my dish, I should be jumping for joy. It looks delicious. I am debating whether to go back but I think my husband would be annoyed with me. I will try it again when summer comes and see what happens. I wo update this review then.

Yelp
Mission has fantastic food, amazing views. Always great music and vibes! My favorite spot to grab a cocktail on the water.

Anthony B.

Yelp
I came in on a Sunday and was seated immediately. The location is beautiful, and the bottomless brunch was incredible. What made the experience truly exceptional was our server, Emma. She was beautiful both inside and out, can't wait to come back and see her again.

Kristen J.

Yelp
This restaurant has great ambiance and friendly staff. The drinks are tasty. Living on the north shore, I want this place to make it because we have needed a restaurant like this. Some dishes have been pretty full and tasty. However they still have some work to do. I ordered the fish tacos- a common dish that someone in our group orders wherever we go. Tasty but holy moly one bite of fish per taco? C'mon. Either combine them and call it a fish taco or fill the taco. Lots of taco wrap left on the plate. If they step it up a notch this place will be a regular for us.

Alivia C.

Yelp
Sean was so dynamic! Highly recommend this restaurant- ask for Sean! The food was really good and the drinks were even better.

Yelp
This place is really good! Also would be good for a big party or wedding. We went and got brunch but checked out both floors. Gorgeous views, easy parking, lots of drinks. I liked the eggs Benedict a lot! Great staff.
google avatar

John M.

Yelp
Really liked the ambiance, great waterfront views. Food was pretty good for the most part. We got a few appetizers and shared an entree. The sushi roll we ordered was delicious, oysters were fresh and the shrimp ceviche was better than expected, savory with a limey punch. The entree was ok, blackened salmon skewered, it was warm and savory but lacked deep flavor. Service and drinks were excellent. I will be back, great place for a date night.
google avatar

Bobby ..

Yelp
Great night. Delicious food and an energetic vibe. Lily, our waitress was awesome and attentive. We will be back again! Sushi is magical and everyone's meals were a hit. Thank you!
google avatar

Xander Y.

Yelp
What a place with view. We were there in the afternoon. Great drinks, happy hour oyster and delicious Thai mussel. They definitely went above and beyond for everything. Will repeat.
google avatar

J. B.

Yelp
Only been for brunch, which was only "fine". The views from the restaurant are great, and the biggest draw. The bloody was pretty decent, but the specialty riff on a mimosa is its blood orange stole the show. The food lacked pizzaz, overall. It was okay and all, but nothing inspired I.E. run of the mill. Service was a bit slow too, even though it seemed like there were a ton of people on shift.

Amanda R.

Yelp
Service was great! Kelsey is an absolute gem!! Will come back just for her :) You also can never go wrong with dollar oysters on a Monday! Oysters are delicious and the sushi is awesome. Definitely a little pricey for certain things but have decent deals throughout the weekdays. Good wine, beer, and cocktail selection as well

Carol R.

Yelp
My family and I recently had a delicious dinner at Mission Boathouse. We were celebrating my grandson's 2 nd birthday so we were dining early. Our waitress was friendly and efficient. The Caesar salad with steak tips was large and tasty, the hot dog appetizer was amazing and the mussels were some of the best we've ever had. Can't wait to go back!

Jim Y.

Yelp
Oh boy... believe me i really want to support this local business but there are no excuses for misleading customers with deals to fet them in the door at one price and then charging them more... so poorly run and an eye sore on Beverly's waterfront that will remain when MB sells or worse yet goes under...
google avatar

Zelda B.

Yelp
Mission is really great. For sleepy Beverly, it's got a real downtown Boston feel. Great bar. Can't wait to go and try the outside patio. I've been twice and the food/drinks were wonderful both times. Perfect for a meal with friends or date night.

Yelp
I really wanted this place to be as amazing as it should be... after all the chatter about the location (stealing public marina space!) and skimpy parking spots, I wanted it to be outstanding enough to make it worthwhile. Oh, no. It's SO loud that the din is obnoxious and constant, and rather than creating a convivial atmosphere, the music competing with the noise (*pop* music?!) made just another distraction to yell over. We went twice, hoping that the unimpressive food the first visit was a one time thing. Caesar salad with anchovies and grilled shrimp, the salad was passable but the dressing didn't seem right and the inappropriate anchovies were more of the pickled variety plopped on top in the center. Four medium sized shrimp were cool and flavorless, a bit tough. Second trip was the taco salad with added grilled shrimp (maybe the first shrimp were a fluke?) and there were five. So, commit to your skimpy small shrimp quantity at least or it's just inconsistent. But the salad itself, dear lord. The crispy tortilla bowl was ok, the fried avocado was fine, the rest of the bowl was filled with some vegetal heap of soggy lettuce bits mixed with corn, black olives, tomato chunks, and soaked (thoroughly!) in what seemed like a ketchupy sweet dressing... was it thousand island dressing? Disgusting. The only redeemable feature of this place is the staff, they're darn good. I would point out that if a guest leaves the majority of their food and doesn't want a box to take it home, it's fair to ask if they liked it... it keeps them from having to write a Yelp review.
google avatar

Sean M.

Yelp
I had high hopes for this place but right now it falls short. First, we were greeted by a semi grumpy teen boy who talked so low I couldn't hear him. The location is very nice. Service was good but could have been better. The food is mixed. My wife ate her chowder with a fork it was so thick. The flavor was good but wow...it was like gravy (it sticks to the spoon and doesn't pour). The main courses were good. The bill however was not; it was very pricey. I know they just opened so I hope the bugs get worked out. I won't be going back for at least six months for food. For now, I would say a great location for apps and drinks.

Yelp
Love the views, friendly staff, fresh food and gourmet cocktails. Parking is an added bonus.

Aja C.

Yelp
I have been here a couple of times, and each time has been incredible. The drinks are the perfect ratio of tasty and string, but not overly strong. The food is great, but really made my night was the staff. JR and Jill are wonderfull!!! Amanda, behind the bar, is the most friendly person I can imagine, and each person I met was incredibly attentive and kind. The tuna tartar is fantastic, the oysters are great and DEFINITELY try thr Beet and burrata salad.
